Part II
About Aquamarine
Since these are a series of stories I am writing exploring the erotic potential of death, they needed a home and Earth just wouldn't do. So, I based them on a parallel dimension planet Earth called Aquamarine, which is similar to ours in most ways, but has traveled a slightly different road to get where it is. Some current theories of physics postulate that there are an infinite number of universes, each with a different history compared to our own. In some the laws of physics would be so different, life as we know it could not exist. Others would be nearly identical to this one, except maybe Elvis lives. If those theories are correct, Aquamarine does exist, just as I have written.
Compared to this Earth, Aquamarine has evolved differently, some of their history would be the future to us. There is travel to nearby stars, for example. The world is under a single government and what we call countries on Earth have roughly the status of the states in the United States. Other features of the world can be like our present and even our past.
Politically its a free society, no secret police, rule of law prevails, no travel restrictions, etc. Over population is not a problem either as the planetary population has stabilized at around one billion. STDs are unheard of and a yearly injection prevents pregnancy. Nice place, no.
But, amongst others, there is a significant difference; executions of females are carried out weekly and are televised and recorded, then edited for later sale. Originally limited to capital offenses it later evolved into a much larger event. The women, unless guilty of a capital crime (very rare), are volunteers selected by a lottery. The age range of selectees is from 13 to 40 and one can enlist at any time during that age range. The lottery is weighted in favor of women 20 and older. The Lottery Board must pass on the enlistees qualifications and not all are accepted as candidates. If accepted, their first enlistment earns the candidate $500,000, paid in advance and is for 7 years. The second and third enlistments are for 10 years each, up to the maximum age of 40 upon which the woman is automatically de-enrolled, having become too valuable to society to be made available for execution just for entertainment. At the second and third enlistments, the monetary reward doubles, so in theory a woman could collect a maximum of $3.5 million if she was enrolled for the full 27 years. If she were to be selected for termination, her designates would receive an amount equal to her last payment. The method of execution is up to the Lottery Board as they are going for maximum entertainment value. The only promise made to the enlistees is that the execution will not be excessively painful and that it will be sexually exciting.
Some, but not all of the stories on the web-site include lottery winners meeting their end. All of the ones on the SEXECUTIONS page do, and some of Cathy's Life stories do. Currently, all of the stories are located on Aquamarine, but I have in mind off world locations in the future.
