Chapter 2 – Breaking the Rules

Search “Semi-dimensional existence.” Result: It is possible for some species of the universe to actually exist between two dimensions, so that they are unnoticeable by occupants of either one. It is almost like a third, observational dimension, where one may look at both dimensions at the same time. The employees of Hypno-Helpers have devised a way to only look at one at a time.

“You know what’s been on my mind?”

She rolled her eyes. “Ouais, rien.

Michael cast a sidelong glance at Sophie. “It’s rare that nothing is on my mind.” He looked back to the woman standing at the counter. “I’ve been trying to figure out why our boss assigned me this job.”

“What do you mean?”

He watched Rachel as she pondered for a moment, then opened up one of the nearby cabinets and took out an unlabeled spice to pour into the creation she was working on. “Well, for one, if I’m supposed to prove that I can be useful again, why am I doing such a mundane task?”

Sophie folded her arms lightly, her gaze shifting to Rachel. “Because you have to show you can follow the rules, first. Quelquechose qui est difficile pour toi, je sais.

Sighing softly, he leaned against the counter, beside Rachel, looking back at Sophie. “It is possible for me to talk to you without incurring a sarcastic remark after every sentence, yes?”

Turning her nose up at Michael, she folded her arms, going silent after a brief, “Hmph.”

Shaking his head, he looked back to Rachel. “Anyway, if I’m being given a mundane job, why lesbians? The boss knows that’s how I got in trouble in the first place, and that it happens to be something I’m enthusiastic about.”

Nodding some, Sophie boosted herself up onto the counter opposite Michael and Rachel, crossing her legs as she set her palms against the countertop and leaned back on them. “Madame felt it best if you were assigned something you’d enjoy working on, like perhaps you’d stick to the rules more. I guess so you wouldn’t decide to ‘make things interesting.’”

Michael scratched his head, grinning at himself. Oh, the irony.

Alors, what are you going to do to start, Michael?”

He watched as Rachel dipped a spoon into the soup, took a sip, and spat it out in disgust. “Probably just put her under and then interview her.”

A skeptical look crossed Sophie’s face. “… D’accord. You’ll be well-behaved, mon petit garcon?”

Michael nodded. “Yeah, I’ll be fine. Where are you going?”

Sophie hopped off the countertop. “I’m going to go check in with Sarah and let her know we’re investigating for her.” With that, she shimmered out of Michael’s sight.

He looked back to Rachel as she poured the contents of the pot out into the sink, sighing. She folded her arms, looking around the kitchen for a moment.

Michael nodded, walking over so that he was standing face to face with her. He gazed into her eyes for a moment, his gaze unwavering as he concentrated. After a moment, her arms gently fell to her sides as her eyes started to glaze over. Michael transferred himself over to Rachel’s dimension, resting his hands against her cheeks as he continued to subvert her mind.

Her body visibly relaxed as she heaved a soft sigh, a contented little smile crossing her lips as her eyes became completely glassy. Michael let his hands back down, nodding some as he watched her. “Hello, Rachel.”

Rachel’s lips made a slight movement, but all she produced was a soft, “Mmm…”

He grinned. “Feeling relaxed, are we?”

“Yeah…”

“Well, that’s good. Listen, I’ve got a couple questions for you.”

Nodding slowly in understanding, Rachel gave no other answer.

Michael nodded in return. “Have you ever done anything sexual with women?”

Her brow furrowed slightly, then she calmly replied, “A few times.”

He folded his arms, leaning against the counter as he yawned softly. “Recently?”

Rachel shook her head. “No.”

“Do you ever fantasize about it?”

“No.”

Michael sighed. Well, this is boring. “Would you ever do anything sexual with your friend, Sarah?”

Rachel made a face as she replied, “No, Sarah is my friend.”

Come on, woman, you can’t be more experimental? Michael glanced at the door for a moment. … Well, Sophie probably won’t be back for a little bit. “Alright, Rachel, go ahead and close your eyes.”

On cue, her eyes drifted shut without any real resistance. Michael stood in front of Rachel once more. He set his fingertips against her temples, closing his eyes as well. “Tonight, I want you to masturbate before you go to sleep – except I want you to imagine Sarah in your fantasy.”

Rachel started to argue against it, but Michael quickly cut her off. “You will find it odd, but arousing nonetheless. You will be unable to stop or think of anything else except Sarah, and you will continue to do so until you orgasm.”

“But I—“

“Quiet.” Rachel fell quiet. Michael sighed. Alright, time to be a little more persuasive. “Do you feel good right now, Rachel?”

“Uh… I guess.”

Shifting one of his palms down to Rachel’s pants, he set it against the front of her jeans. He concentrated for a moment as he sent physical sensations to relay through Rachel’s mind and she quickly began to squirm under Michael’s palm. “Oh… Oh my…”

“That’s right, Rachel, just focus on the pleasure I’m giving you right now. I want you to stop worrying about anything but your physical pleasure.”

He pressed his palm harder and Rachel jolted, letting out a load moan. Taking that as a statement of agreement, he continued. “Good, just keep focusing on it, just letting all your other thoughts drift away, just focused so much on how good this feels. Does it feel good?”

Rachel bit her lip, then nodded. Michael nodded, too. “Wonderful.” He took his hand away, leaving Rachel still squirming a bit. He brought his fingertips back up to her temples as he again focused on her mind. “You’re going to feel this pleasure all day, but you won’t be able to make it stop or climax until tonight, before you go to bed – you won’t touch yourself, you won’t do anything about it until tonight, you will simply let yourself be turned on all day. When you go to bed, you’ll be allowed to touch yourself again, but only as long as you fantasize about Sarah. Do you understand?”

She groaned in disagreement. Michael pushed the suggestion further into her subconscious, and Rachel simply nodded, though it was obvious she didn’t like the idea. “There you go.”

Sophie will be back soon… “Now, then, Rachel, I’m going to wake you back up, but you won’t remember anything past pouring that soup out into the sink, except that you all of the sudden feel extremely turned on and are unable to do anything about it until tonight.” Repeating his command, he pushed it into her mind again, then let his hands away and shifted back to his semi-dimensional state.

A few moments later, he was grinning as Rachel sat on the couch, watching TV, awkwardly shifting and squirming every now and then. Sophie shimmered into existence beside him, raising an eyebrow as she glanced at Rachel, then looked to Michael. “What’s that all about?”

“I asked what she fantasizes about and decided to make her think about it all day, so she’ll be happier to see Sarah.”

The same skeptical look crossed Sophie’s face, but she simply nodded. “D’accord… On y va.

Sophie looked over Michael’s paperwork a moment, then nodded some. “C’est bon. Alors, I’ll take this over to A3 and turn it in with my report. I think you’ll have the rest of the day off, then.”

He sighed, slouching in his chair. “What the hell am I going to do all day, Sophie?”

She shrugged, picking up the folder containing Michael’s report. “Ce n’est pas ma problème, mon petit garçon. Au revoir.” She turned on her toes, then exited Michael’s office.

Looking around for a moment, he started to rock in his chair lightly as he twiddled his thumbs. “Yep, they sure are keeping me busy. Yes, sir…”

Letting out a frustrated sigh, he sat up. “Well, damnit, if I can’t mess with people except my client, and I have nothing to do to my client—“

Blinking, Michael smiled. “Right…”

“Are you sure everything’s OK?”

Michael grinned in satisfaction as he watched Rachel. She was talking on the phone with Sarah, squirming and adjusting her clothes as she paced around her apartment.

“Yes, Sarah, everything is…” She bit her lip, holding back a groan. “… i-is fine.”

Walking over to Rachel, he tilted his head to the side, leaning in closer as he listened to Sarah’s voice come back over the phone. “You sound like you have something on your mind.”

Seizing his opportunity, Michael reached out and touched his fingertips to Rachel’s temples. She nearly dropped the phone as she went completely relaxed and gazed off at nothing. As Michael’s lips moved silently, Rachel formed the words. “Well, I’ve been thinking about you all day.”

He could see a bit of resistance in Rachel’s gaze, but he could barely feel it in her mind. He just grinned, closing his eyes as he continued to make Rachel talk. “I’ve been thinking a lot about you and me, you know.”

Without missing a beat, an enthusiastic “Really?” came back from the other end of the line, followed by a brief cough and a more calm, “How so?”

Rachel started to shake her head, but Michael pressed close, concentrating on keeping her conscious will suppressed for a little longer. “I think it would be good if you came over tomorrow night, for dinner.”

A pause. “Well, uh… Yeah, I guess I could do that.”

“Wear something sexy.”

Rachel quickly shifted her thumb to the end button her phone and hung up, then seemed to stand frozen. She was fighting against Michael’s control, but the best she could do was stare blankly at the phone as she tried to figure out why she said that.

Michael let his hands away and stepped back, and Rachel seemed to have some kind of revelation as she threw the phone on the couch, staring at it in disbelief as if it had transformed into some miniature monster. She rubbed her thighs together, biting her lip as she pulled back from the phone slightly. She shook her head, covered her mouth, then let her hands away as she yelled, “Damnit!”

She resumed her pacing, obviously frustrated at being unable to touch herself. Michael folded his arms lightly, then glanced at the door for a moment. Giving a thoughtful “hmm…”, he then headed back to his cyber-office.

“Hey, Sophie…”

“Michael, not now, I’m busy.”

He leaned against the doorframe, arms folded as he watched Sophie scan a pile of papers she had strewn across her desk. “You know, I remember when you used to enjoy me interrupting your work.”

Sophie glanced up, glaring at Michael. “Ouais, and you won’t let that time go and accept that things change.”

Chuckling softly, Michael held his hands up some. “Alright, fair enough. Well, do you have a file on the last time we helped Sarah, then?”

She looked back to her work. “Pourquoi??”

“Well, I’d hate to make the same mistake the last employee did and scare Rachel off forever.”

“Michael, I’m surprised. You’re being considerate.”

“Very funny, Sophie. I just don’t want to mess this assignment up and get suspended again, you know?”

Sophie sighed softly. “Very well, Michael.” She reached down into one of her drawers, produced a folder from it, and held it out to him. “I’m glad you actually care about your job here.”

He nodded, walking over and taking the offered file. “Of course. Thanks a bunch, Sophie.” He winked at her. “I owe you one, eh?”

She rolled her eyes, looking back to her work. “Let me work, and we’re even.”

“You have fun with that.” He grinned, heading out of her office. Now to just pay a visit to Rachel’s later tonight.
