The Consequences and Rewards of Playing Hookey
Chapter 5
“New” School: Day 2
“They’re here,” said Brett Nilsen to his brother.
“Yesterday was so surreal. Ready for more of the same?” asked Tom.
“I’m still trying to wrap my head around all of this.”
“Me too.”
“Hey guys!” greeted Sandy happily, as the twins got in the car.
“Hi Sandy,” they said in unintentional unison.
Sandy laughed. “I’m sorry guys. I’m not making fun of you, but it’s so cute how you do that.”
The twins blushed and were silent.
“What’s the matter fellas? ‘The cat got your tongues?” asked Derek.
“Meow!” husked Sandy and everybody laughed, though the twins laugh was out of uneasiness. “Brett and Tom, I want to be your friend,” smiled Sandy.
“Why?” asked Brett, as he seemed to be the less frightened brother.
“C’mon… Brett?”
“Hey, you guessed right,” laughed Derek.
“I had a fifty-fifty shot,” she smiled. “Anyway, I told you guys yesterday. Derek is my boyfriend and you two and Kyle, Rogesh and Devin are his best friends. I’m going to get to know all of you,” she smiled.
“But you’re so...” started Tom.
“Say it Tom,” she said.
“Mean…”
“Do I seem mean right now?”
“No. You seem quite nice,” admitted Brett.
“Because she IS nice!” complained Derek. “Do you think I would be with her otherwise?”
“Yeah, she’s hot bro!” laughed Brett and Sandy laughed really hard. Derek and Tom didn’t for different reasons.
“There is a lot more to her than her beauty,” defended Derek.
“Easy, honey. He doesn’t know me like you do,” she smiled.
“Are you really serious about being our friend?” asked an emboldened Tom.
“Very,” she replied earnestly. “Meet us for lunch today. I have some people I want to introduce you to.”
“OK,” they said in twin speak, Sandy beamed. “God, their so cute,“ she thought to herself.
Derek was having another banner day. His confidence was through the roof. He talked to classmates, participated in class. He even caught several girls’ eyes looking at him; including Connie Martin. After their Biology class, he spoke to her. “Well Connie. I decided to take you up on your kind offer.”
“That’s great!” she said enthusiastically. “You’re such a smart guy. I’m sure that you’ll come up with some solutions to some problems we’re projecting with the Prom.”
“Like what?” he asked.
“Well, to be honest, the biggest one I’m worried about is attendance. My friend, Julie Serta, is president of the senior class. She told me last year they only had about fifty people at their Prom and their class is bigger than ours.”
“There is an easy solution,”
“What?”
“Be more inclusive. Be honest with me, Connie. The only reason that you invited me to be on the committee was because I’m dating Sandra Turner.”
“I’ve always thought that you were smart, nice… handsome…” she said as her voice died away.
“You’re lovely, smart and seem quite nice, but to be honest, you’ve never given me the time of day. You’ve been unapproachable, because I was perceived as not good enough to belong to your clique. Now I am because of Sandy, so you and your friends want to include me. As I said, I’m happy to help, but you might not like what I have to say.
Connie had a crush on Derek and in the last few moments, despite her embarrassment, it grew. He was right, of course, but she still couldn’t believe that he and Sandra were together. “Derek, I take everybody’s opinion seriously. In fact, I’m liable to take yours more seriously than the others,” she smiled.
Derek was not expecting this. Was this a power play to make a move on him, as Sandy perceived? He did not care. Derek had an epiphany. He was going to use his newfound popularity to bridge the non-popular crowd to the popular crowd. He also had an amazing blunt instrument in Sandy’s “Sandra” personae and a mandate from the popular crowd to make sure the Prom was a success. He felt great, as he walked to his next class.
At lunch, Derek saw an interesting collection of people at a large corner table. He saw the Nilsen twins and his friends Kyle, Devin and Rogesh. He also saw all four of his girls. Kyle looked the least comfortable. He was heavy set, with thick glasses, but he always seemed to find a way to blend into the woodwork in social settings. Devin grinned, as he shifted his thin frame in his seat. Rogesh looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but where he was at the moment. The Nilsen twins seemed somewhat used to the attention that they were getting from Sandy, so they seemed a bit calmer. The girls were all smiling, except for Chantelle, who wore a mask of indifference that was covering up a lot of pain. Derek noticed this and sat down next to her. As she only managed a thin smile, Derek suspected that something bad was going on with her.
When she saw Derek sit down, Sandra started. “Guys, the reason you are all here is because you’re Derek’s best friends. As you know or probably have heard, I’m Derek’s girlfriend.”
“We heard, but I’m not sure I believe,” said Devin, in his wiseass manner.
“Well, Devin, that is up to you. The only person that I care believes it is Derek,” she said, smiling at her boyfriend.
“Yeah, Dev. You can believe what you want. She’s all mine,” grinned Derek.
“Anyway, I want to get to know all of you. I also want you to get to know some of my best friends.”
“You have friends?” smirked Devin.
“Leave her alone, Devin!” snapped of all people Tom Nilsen, as both Derek and Brett glared at Devin.
Sandy felt touched at Tom’s support. “Thanks… Tom?”
“You guessed right,” grinned Tom at his new friend.
“Damn I’m getting good at this,” she laughed. Then she turned her attention to her heckler. “Devin, you can sit there and give me a hard time or you can give me a chance.”
Devin realized that his friends were against him, so he backed off and simply nodded his reply.
“This is Mindy Harrellson, Maya Ramirez and Chantelle Morris.”
“Hey guys,” smiled Maya. “We’re here because we care about Derek and Sandy. I think it’s safe to say that when we got to know Derek, we saw why Sandy fell for him. If you guys are friends of Derek’s, there has to be something special about each of you.
“Look guys, we all know you guys would like girlfriends or at least a Prom date,” said Derek.
“I’m not going to the Prom,” stated Kyle bluntly. Derek smiled sadly. His friend was one of the nicest guys he knew, yet because of his size and shyness, getting him to go to the Prom was going to be a tough task. Still, Derek underestimated what his girlfriend had on her mind.
“Kyle, you’re a little cutie, but when the good Lord was handing out metabolisms, he didn’t do you any favors,” she paused before smiling sadly. “I know this may sound funny coming from me, but appearances are not everything and can be deceiving,” she said as she mashed two adages together. “Derek has assured me that you’re a patient and sweet guy. I’d like it if you could do me a favor. Do you know Tara Broome?”
“She’s a sophomore, right?” he said, still blushing.
“Yes. She’s on the JV squad. She really wants to be a Varsity cheerleader, but her weight is a handicap to competitive cheerleading. In reality, this is her last chance to be a cheerleader, as you can’t be an upperclassman and be on JV.”
“What do you want me to do?” asked Kyle.
“I want you to be her workout buddy and friend. In a lot of ways, she’s like you. She’s really a nice person, but she’s part of a clique that keep her around just to make fun of her. I think she needs real friends who like her for who she is.”
“I think she’s pretty,” said Kyle, blush still intact.
“I agree. Still, I think she has a chance to be even more beautiful,” said Sandy “What I’m getting at is I think you can help each other.”
“What about us?” piped Rogesh, for the first time.
“I’d like to assign each of you a JV cheerleader. They’ll work with you change your wardrobe and be your style gurus.”
“What are we doing for them,” asked Devin.
“They don’t know it yet, but you guys are going to help them with their respective problems, take away their shallowness and help them grow up. If you guys do a good job, you might wind up with a Prom date or possibly even a girlfriend,” said Sandy, before continuing. “If you hear something about you being part of a ‘social experiment’, ignore it. To be honest, you guys need less changing than they do. They’ll just think they are being hazed at my whim. In reality, I’m doing them a favor. They need to grow up and I think you guys are the men who can do it.”
Derek smiled at Sandy. He could see why Sandra Turner had ruled the school. She had an iron will mixed with one bit charisma and another bit, meanness. It turned out that Sandy didn’t need the meanness with the guys though. By the end of lunch, she had them all eating out of her hand. After giving his girlfriend a quick kiss, he caught up with Chantelle. “Honey, can you please wait for a minute.”
“OK,” she said seeming strangely calm, as she lowered her head
“Since Sandy got you excused from cheerleading, I’d like you to come back to my place after school.”
“OK.”
“Chantelle, look at me.”
She lifted her head.
“Do you know why I want you to come back to my place?”
“To turn me into a sex slave and fuck me.”
“Of course not!” he complained. “I made you a promise. We need to talk. We still have three days to engage in the last sexual act of the week.”
“What do we need to talk about?’ she asked numbly.
“How we are going to get through the next six months.”
“Is that all?”
“That’s my only agenda item. The rest is up to you. The one thing you need to do, even if it just means twiddling our thumbs, is you have to stay with me until dinner time.”
“Why?”
“Because I love you and I’m worried about you.”
Chantelle started to cry. “Cassius broke up with me this morning!!”
“Shit!” thought Derek. He realized that this was his fault. “I’m so sorry, Chantelle!”
“I was so distant from him. I’ve become so numb since the other day…”
“We’ll fix that and then we’ll fix you and Cassius.”
“I’m not sure I want it to be fixed. I’m mad at him. I told him I was going through something and asked him to be patient. If he loved me, he would have waited until I figured this all out... that was yesterday. He couldn’t even wait one fucking day!”
Derek was shocked at Chantelle’s use of profanity, in fact; he doubted that she had ever swore until this moment. “Honey, we’ll figure this out. I’ve been a bad friend to you and I’m so sorry!”
“No. I think I know what you were doing. I know you care about me… it’s just that I needed someone to talk to about all of this. You’re the only person I feel comfortable talking about this with,”
“What about the other girls?”
“I’m not really that close to them.”
“You should be. I know that they want to help you too.”
“I wish I could. I know they’ve changed. I guess I can’t help seeing then the way they used to be. Can you help me with that?”
“You know I can,” he smiled.
When Derek and Chantelle got back to his house, they went up to his bedroom and lay on his bed. Derek directed her head to his chest and they both lay there, as Chantelle confessed to having suicidal thoughts. She told him what she was thinking in the cafeteria, yesterday. She was with Cass, but she yearned to be with him. She thought that she was in love with two men.
“Chantelle, I’m so sorry. If I never agreed to Sandra’s deal, we wouldn’t be in this position.
“I’m not so sure about that. You know I really liked you, right?”
“I suspected that you might after the kiss.”
“Well, as much as I wanted to be Head Cheerleader, part of me was really looking forward to going to the Prom with you. You’re such a sweet guy.”
“I had a huge crush on you.”
“Had?” she asked, as she turned her head so they could see each other.
“I don’t have a crush on you now because I love you.”
“But you love Sandy.”
“And Maya and Mindy too. You still love Cass. Who says love has to make sense,” he thought, as he realized that he was paraphrasing the stranger from their second meeting.
“True. But what are we going to do?”
“Love each other,” he smiled, as he kissed her sweetly on the lips.
When she broke the kiss, she looked sadly at him. “I don’t know if I can do that.”
Derek has changed the others, but for the first time he was going to change someone consciously against their will. “Chantelle, listen to me. I’m going to change you.”
“No,” she said meekly, as she already began to show rapt attention to him.
“You’ll be OK about the fact that I love Maya, Mindy and Sandy, as I love you. In fact, you’re happy about the fact that I feel that way about all of you. You feel like we all are a family. You are also OK with your feelings about Cass. You still love him, but understand that you need some time to work through your feelings. Most importantly, you know that the feelings we have for each other are real and you will never question that.”
Chantelle, felt a few tears flow from her eyes, but her mouth was turned up in a big smile. “Oh Derek! Thank you! I feel so wonderfully happy!”
Derek sighed. He hadn’t want to do it, but he was worried about Chantelle getting to the point where she might have acted on her suicidal thoughts. He knew that despite the feelings being artificially induced, they were quite real. He knew this because when he changed someone, his feelings about them changed. “It must be that extreme ‘empathy’, the stranger had mentioned,” he thought.
Chantelle grabbed his head and kissed him passionately. After she broke the kiss, she beamed into his eyes. She was a new person. She was not his true love nor was she Cassius’. She was too busy being happy with one of her lovers, to be bothered with feeling sad about missing the other. Chantelle felt incredibly loved By Derek and her Cheerleader sisters. She was also incredibly horny. “Oh Derek, I want to feel you inside me!”
“”Sorry honey, you wanted to remain a virgin…”
“That was before I thought about how much I really love you!”
“A lot of that is because I changed you,” said Derek, fighting not to give in to temptation.
“Baby, all you really did was to bring my relationships into focus! I loved you before and I love you now.”
“Tell you what. If you still feel the way you do in six months and you are not with Cassius, I’ll be happy to deflower you. Otherwise, you may be grateful that we held off doing this.”
“Alright!,” she sighed rolling her eyes.
“What’s that look for?”
“You know you are just making me love and want you that much more.”
“You know that there are other things I can do,” he grinned.
“True. Me too,” Chantelle grinned. “OK, let’s see if you remembered your lessons, young man.”
Derek removed the girl’s jeans and his room was flooded with her arousal. Next, he slid down her panties and removed them. Chantelle had removed her top and undone her bra in the meantime. She then lay back and enjoyed her lover’s ministration.
Chantelle felt Derek plant little kiss down her torso. Every once in a while he would use his tongue to wet an area, before blowing on it. Normally such a practice would tickle her, but due to her extreme arousal, she felt a tortuous pleasure, as her body spasmed causing her to moan. Her nipple hardened at his touch, despite not being touched themselves. When he got to his final destination, he breathed warm air on her exposed clitoris, as his fingers began to gently manipulate her sex.
Chantelle was impressed how quickly her lover had discovered what had please her the most. This was not a case of practiced technique. This was a fundamental understanding of the human body and how each part worked to bring sexual stimulation. The rest was instinct and Derek’s instincts were right on target, due to his extreme empathy and their connection. His lips and tongue replaced his fingers on her clit.
As she felt her arousal grow, she lovingly ran her fingers through his hair. Cass was good at this. Really good, in fact, but even though this was merely his second time, he was exceeding the best that her ex had ever made her feel. She felt her final arousal begin, as her hips began to thrust, almost involuntarily. She was almost there. “Oh! Derek! Oh!” she cried, as her body stuttered in a powerful climax, as she made a keening sound as she came.
As she cooled down, Derek came up and lay next to her panting form. He gently tweaked her nipples and she laughed signifying her passion had been replaced by ticklishness. “How was I?” he asked.
“Don’t you know that is a question you should never ask your lover,” she laughed through a pant. “She’ll tell you that you were amazing, whether you were or you weren’t. For the record, you were amazing,” she grinned, as she leaned over and they frenched and fondled for several minutes. Chantelle then found his member in her hands. “Ready for time number three?” she husked, as she lowered her mouth to his cock.
“I’d rather not think of it that way,” he said ruefully.
“We have to, Baby, if we are to stay with you. Cheer up though. I have a secret,”
“What?” he asked.
“I really like doing this and hope to be doing this with you for a long time to come,” she grinned before making both her grin and his cock disappear in her mouth.
About an hour later Sandy, Mindy and Maya arrived. Derek and Chantelle had moved to the family room. The first thing Sandy did was to run to Chantelle and give her a hug. “Are you OK, honey,” she asked.
“I’m fine. In fact I’m better than fine,”
“You mean he…”
“Nope, not lucky enough to be THAT fine,” she laughed.
“Derek?” pouted Sandy.
“Under the circumstances, I think we should wait six months,” he said.
“Meany,” grinned Mindy.
“Derek did what he needed to do,” defended Maya.
“It’s true. You no longer have to be worried about me doing something rash. I’m happy in love with him like the rest of you sex slaves,” laughed Chantelle.
“I prefer to think of him as my boyfriend,” grinned Sandy.
“I prefer to think of him as my sweetheart,” smiled Mindy.
“No, sex slave works for me,” said Maya and the others laughed.
“So how did you get here, anyway?” asked Derek.
“We got a lift from Sharon Ogelby, though we’re hoping you can give us a ride home,” smiled Sandy.
“Well, I’m sure if you’re all good little sex slaves, we can work something out,” laughed Derek, as Sandy hit him over the head with a pillow, as giggling ensued.
Then they all heard the sound of the garage door opening and closing. Less than a minute later Rick Carson entered into his family room that was filled with beautiful girls. “Wow, If I’d known I would have gotten this kind of reception, I’d never have gone to my meeting,” laughed Rick.
“Mr. C!” screamed Sandy, as she ran to her boyfriend’s father and hugged the stuffing out of him.”
“Speaking of great receptions,” he laughed, as he broke the clinch. “Sandy Turner. It’s great to see you again,” he smiled. “And who are these lovely young ladies?”
“We’re Derek’s other girlfriends,” laughed Mindy. As she could see the whites of Derek’s eyes, as his father laughed.
“Mr. C, these are some of my teammates. We just dropped by after practice.”
“Yeah. Sandy needed her ‘Derek fix’,” grinned Chantelle.
“Well I hope that you don’t mind hanging out until I can run you guys home,” said Derek.
“No bother, Derek we wanted to see your Mom anyhow,” said Mindy
As if on cue, Derek’s mother entered the room having just returned. “Oh my! It seems that their numbers are growing,” laughed Veronica Carson. “Lose a daughter, get four more!”
“Hi Mom! This is Chantelle, she’s another of Sandy’s teammates and a good friend.”
“Nice to meet you Chantelle,” as they shook hands, before Ronnie walked over to her husband, “You’ve been missed, Mr. Carson.”
“So have you, Mrs. Carson.”
“Oh no, everybody close your eyes! This is the part where they kiss!” groaned Derek.
“Ewwwwww!” said all five teens, closing their eyes but were all peeking, as Rick took Ronnie into his arms and gave her an over-the-top kiss. Soon the “ew’s “had become “ah’s”.
After Ronnie broke this kiss, she smiled at the kids. “Sandy, I spoke to your Mom today. “We’re coming Saturday and Laura will be home, so she’ll be joining us.”
“Oh, no, I’m not sure I’m ready to deal with her yet,” thought Sandy. “I can’t wait for us to get together. I remember we had some fun times back in the day,” said Sandy.
“I know. I miss watching football with your Dad,” said Rick.
“Well, I guess I better run these guys home,” smiled Derek.
“Girls, I just want to thank you again for last night. Dinner was delicious,” said Ronnie
“Mindy did all the heavy lifting,” smiled Sandy.
“Yup. Mindy is amazing,” said Derek, as he thoughtlessly gave her a hug, which she somewhat melted into,”
“Hey… whose boyfriend is he anyway?” covered Sandy.
“Well, Sandy, if you let him get away…” laughed Mindy.
“OK, you must stop now or I won’t be able to control my ego,” he grinned.
As the group filtered out, Ronnie looked at her husband. “That was strange.”
“What?” he asked obliviously.
“Derek hugging that Mindy girl and then what followed,” she stated.
“Oh, baby, they were just playing around. Probably goofing on us as retaliation for our little PDA back there.”
“I don’t know Derek seemed pretty affectionate with her, Like Sandy, she’s a beautiful girl. The thing was that I saw her face. She looked really happy that he was hugging her.”
“Maybe she has a crush on him.”
“I don’t know… first Sandy Turner drops back into his life and then three other beautiful girls. It just seems strange.”
“You know what I’d call it?”
“What?” she asked.
“Lucky! “
“Hey, Mister!” she pouted.
“None of them hold a candle to you, Ronnie,” he smiled.
“Good save,” she smiled and kissed him.
Veronica Carson let her concerns slip from her mind for the present; still, they would return in the near future.
“Oh, God!” moaned Sandy, as she was being penetrated from behind, doggie style. “Are you sure you haven’t done it this way before…Uhhh…”
“Nope… first time,” moaned Derek, as he sawed in and out of her hot pussy.
“It doesn’t… show!”
“Damn! If I knew… sex was this… great… I woulda uhhh…”
“Done it before!”groaned Sandy, finishing his sentence, as she typically did now.
“I’m close, Babe!”
“Don’t worry about me, fill me up, Baby!”
“Trying to make it… last…”
“Oh fuck me! Fuck me hard!” cried Sandy, as she suddenly felt herself on the verge.
“I can’t hold… I’m cumming!” he cried, as she felt his seed fire into her womb, just as she was about to start her own orgasm.
“Me too, babeeeeeeeee! Uhhhh!” she screamed, as her climax started as his was still in progress.
After a moment, she collapsed under his weight. Then he pulled them on their sides, as they stared into each other’s eyes.
“Remind me to thank your parents for having a dinner meeting,” laughed Derek.
“There’s something about having you in my room that seems so right,” she smiled.
“Do you remember us playing house in here?” asked Derek.
“Oh, shit! We did!” she laughed.
“From what I recall, you just wanted to have tea parties,” he laughed back.
“Yeah, I was going through a tea party faze when I was about eight or nine,” she laughed. “You know, you gave me my first kiss in this room,” she smiled.
“I did?”
“Uh huh. You pretended to go to work and…”
“I kissed you the way my Dad kisses my Mom,” he put his hand over his mouth, as she laughed and he joined in.
“Well not quite the same way. You didn’t use your tongue.”
“Thank God for that. It might have scarred us for the rest of our lives,” he laughed.
That comment by Derek caused Sandy to drag up some not so pleasant memories. “Baby?”
“Yeah.”
“Do you know why I think we’ll last past September?”
“Other than love, no.”
“Well it has to do with love, but it also has to do with me,” she paused. “Remember that nine year old girl?”
“Of course. She was one of my best friends.”
“Well, she’s me.”
“I know…”
“No, that’s not what I mean. What I’m saying is that in some ways, I’m only about nine or ten years old.”
“OK… that’s troubling.”
“I don’t mean it like that,” she grinned and hit him with a pillow, before continuing. “I have all of Sandra Turner’s memories, her intellect and obviously her knowledge of sex, but in terms of my outlook on life, I’m that girl. I’m the girl that you could ‘like’ and ‘really care for’,” she said with a smile.
Derek was stunned. He had just assumed that he had inadvertently given Sandy instructions and she changed into what had please him. In reality, this change was both deeper, yet intrinsically more Sandy than he realized.
She continued. “I thought that that little girl had died, but she didn’t. Part of her lived on in me and watched me twist myself into something horrible. You freed the little girl, so she could be with the boy she always cared for.”
“Are you saying...”
“I’m saying that our lives would have been very different had my parents not almost divorced six years ago. That little girl was so fond of you and she knew that you felt the same way about her. My best guess is that we would have started going out the minute puberty hit and we’d still be an item. There would never have been “The Queen of Mean”. Only Derek and Sandy,” she said. “Then my parents fought, they screamed, they threw things and threatened to kill each other. Then they ignored me… and this was where I heard it all from downstairs or my parent’s bedroom. It all happened here. Here in this room where I got my first kiss from the little boy I should have always been with.” It was here I lost ‘the little girl,’ she said, as she started to cry in his arms.
Derek had listened with shock. Then his tears started too. He thought about how his life would have been different and for the time they had lost. Then something occurred to him.
“Sandy, nobody should have gone through what you did…”
“Derek, I helped some boys stuff you in a locker! God, I’m so sorry!” she shrieked, as she began to melt down.
“Sandy!” he screamed, which shocked her.
He took advantage of her shock by kissing her. He kissed her and wouldn’t let her break the kiss. He held her tight and would not let her go despite her efforts early in the kiss. Her protest ceased very quickly though and finally when he broke this kiss, she had calmed.
“Sandy, listen to me,” he said calmly.
“OK,” she murmured.
“I don’t know if we’ll be together in September, but that doesn’t matter in terms of who you are now. As far as I’m concerned, you never were that person who hurt me and hurt others. She’s gone. You remember how to act like her when we need you to, but you are not her. You’ll never be her. Not now, not in September, not ever! Do you understand?”
“Do you wish to change me?”
Derek’s laugh was part out of absurdity and part out of sadness. “No. I’m just telling you what I know to be true.”
“Derek… that was what I was getting at when we started the conversation. I believe it too. I know we’ll be together in September and after. This place where I became twisted was also where you kissed me so long ago and where you saved me just a few days ago. This may be my room, but it will always be yours the way that I’ll always be yours,” she smiled, as her earnest look gave him hope that she was right.
