(50 min/mp3) * * * * * The Dawn of a New Eve Let me tell you about the fascinating woman I met at the dog park the other day. She was sitting on a bench under an oak tree. Our dogs became fast friends and as they tore around the park chasing each other, I sat next to her. The first thing I noticed she was wearing the flag of a person who is receiving chemo, of course I mean the bandanna tied around her head. We talked about dogs and dog parks while we watched our pets. Her dog would play with mine, then suddenly stop, and come to her mistress. She would then put her muzzle into her lap and whine. Once her mistress patted her head or scratched behind her ears, she would then return to play with my dog. I mentioned she had a loyal dog who seemed concerned about her wellbeing. She told me she had cancer and was undergoing chemo; she pointed to her bandanna and said thus the hair loss. Her dog realized she was not well and hated to leave her side. Taking the dog to the park seemed to be the only recreation the dog got. Her dog came back for more reassurance and as she patted her head, I wondered inanely what color had her hair been. Was she blond or maybe brunette, or even a redhead? It was an early spring day with the hope of summer still a long way off. Therefore, we were both wearing long sleeves so I had no clue if she was fair or dark, freckled or tan. Her face was pale but I figured that could be from her illness. What could I say to a cancer victim that wouldn't sound trite or worse an insincere platitude? I told her I was sorry to hear it and had no idea what she had to go through. The reply I got back from this woman, whose name was Eve, was certainly unexpected. Eve informed me that cancer had saved her life. Now, I really didn't know what to say except an astonished, 'how.' Eve went on to tell me she had been a hopeless agoraphobic who had not left her house for years. Trapped by fear, if she couldn't get it by delivery or mail she went without. Even her teeth rotted because she would not or rather, could not leave the house even to go to the dentist. She missed marriages of friends and relatives; she missed funerals and graduations because her fear had made her a prisoner in her own home. Then one day she found a lump in her breast and although she had a fear of leaving her house, she found she had a greater fear of dying of cancer. This greater fear got her out of her prison and to the doctor. Eve ended up having a double mastectomy and after that, weekly visits to the clinic for chemo. She finally realized she could survive outside of her home and began to venture out more and more. Although still sick, she is trying to make up for all of her lost years as a virtual captive of her own demons. She is now visiting friend's and relatives' homes that she hasn't been to in years. She laughed as she told me how surprising it is to these people. She is trying to eat at all the new restaurants that have opened in town since she became a hostage of her own fears. Eve further amazed me by telling me now she goes boogie boarding at the beach every chance she gets and that it thrills her like nothing else she has done. I imagined this brave woman with her bald pate shinning in the sun wresting with the surf for one more ride. I could almost see the smile on her face and the thrill in her eyes. She has had her teeth repaired and of course goes to the dog park a few times a week. She has joined a support group as a councilor for agoraphobics. Although mostly on line, she offers advice plus offers of help to those who want it. Eve said it only takes that first step from your prison to start you on the road to freedom. I left the park that day in complete admiration of this brave woman who took this catastrophic illness and turned it into a positive life force. Every time I take my dog to the park, I look for Eve yet to no avail. I have never seen Eve after that cool spring day as she taught me a valuable life lesson. That promise of summer has come and gone and now it is fall with winter not far behind. I cannot imagine an encouraging thought on Eve, where can she be. Is she dead I don't know but it is just too hard for me to accept that this wonderful person who has finally been given the chance to live her life would now fall to that dreaded disease? Most of the stories I write are from my perverted mind and rather than truth, they come from my fantasies. However, this story is true and therefore I have no ending for it, no hook so to speak. I sit here staring at my screen the cursor blinking and I feel the tears running down to cover my cheek. Yet, even worse are the real tears I feel coming from my heart and covering my soul. Eve, if you're still out there I wish you only the best. If you are gone and no longer with us, I hope you were able to get one more wave to ride. The Dawn of the Dragons Forenote: This story is about adventure, survival, actions, and romance. This is my first attempt at something like this so don't be harsh in the comments but I would love feedback. I know my paragraph spacing and use of quotations could be so much better but I'm learning. ***** "Hurry up Aaron" the girl said, swiftly dodging in and out of the trees in her path. Aaron, the young man behind her who was only about twenty. He had a handsome kind face with black short hair that naturally stuck up in the front for a nice spiked out style. Sophia, the young lady and his childhood friend, would often joke it was because he probably slept face down causing only the front of his hair to be erratic. Aaron would roll his eyes and smile some, having become used to her eager moods all too well. Although this time he didn't need the encouragement. For this time they were chasing a beautiful white stag that was seen on the edge of the town of Solace. "I bet I can take it down before you!" Sophia proclaimed loudly, jumping to her feet and grabbing her bow and quiver before taking off. "Slow down Sophia!" Aaron called after her before chasing . The two have been chasing the beautiful creature for a while now. Every time they believed they had lost sight of it and about to give up, only for it to appear once more in the distance staring at them as if beckoning them to the hunt. Before long the two reached a clearing where the Stag sat and grazed. The pair hadn't even thought of raising their bows up in order to take it down. It was just too awe inspiring. Trying to get bit closer, they manage to snap a twig and the stag took off and they both let out a sigh of disappointment. "Wow Soph." Aaron talking to Sophia in the usual nickname for her, "All of our years and we have never encountered something that amazing." "I know... A shame it got away though. It's getting dark and I'm not sure what way is back to town. We might as well camp here tonight." As she started to head out to the clearing gathering the necessaries for a fire. While they both worked set up a camp, a simple thing for this pair. Although Aaron was twenty and Sophia only nineteen, in the small forest town of Solace, it wasn't unusual for the kids to branch out this early and help support their families by hunting. As they worked, Aaron couldn't help but stop and admire Sophia. Sophia was a beautiful young girl. Sure she may not have large breast but they would only seem out of place on her petite curvy frame. She had the most beautiful blonde hair, hanging down to about half way in her back. When out on the hunt, such as right now, it was tied in one long ponytail braid. A large red blush would come to Aaron's face when she knelt over to collect some firewood and add it to the fire, giving him a view of her ass. Unfortunately for him, she happened to turn around just at that moment and notice him eyeballing her. "What?" Sophia, slightly confused by what was so interesting. "Nothing Soph was just wondering if you needed any help, that's all." A bad excuse, but one she seemed to buy. "Uh no I just about got it here. How is that shelter coming along?" walking over to him and giving him a smile. "It's just about done!" Luckily for Aaron, he didn't start admiring his companion until his own chore was about done. The two worked together to get the finishing touches together on the shelter before they decided it was time to actually hunt something. They talked for a moment and ultimately decided to split up. There was a less chance of startling the game like that. Aaron was thankful for the time alone anyways. While he was wondering through the woods his mind couldn't help but wonder onto his partner. It hasn't always been like this. The two had known each other all of their lives but recently she has started to grow those curves he had become so fascinated with. Her breasts have started to develop and they don't seem to have finished just yet. Aaron let out a loud sigh. "Whatcha thinking about?" Sophia said suddenly, making Aaron jump out of his skin nearly. "By the gods Soph don't do that to me!" Aaron scolded her though she only sat there giggling. "Look what I got!" Sophia held up two small birds, easily enough to feed them both. "Good job Soph!" guessing that dinner is a good enough reason to forgive her for the startling she just gave him. The two walked in silence back to their campsite, plucking the feathers from the birds and preparing them to cook. Putting them both on a split being the easiest way to cook them both. They both knew how to cook but decided awhile back they would cut down on arguments if they just took turns. This time it was Aaron's turn. They made some small talk, nothing too interesting. But as per usual with these two, they don't need to talk. There has always been a silent understanding between the two that has originated since they were little kids. After they both finished eating they started cleaning up and put the fire out. The two never kept a fire going through the night. When they slept they slept close together Aaron's arms usually around Sophia. The two didn't think anything weird of it although Aaron has started to feel a bit awkward, especially in the morning when they wake up and he would have a case of morning wood. He never moved not wanting to disturb Sophia but when she snuggled back into him in the colder mornings and his erection pressed into him it makes him worry she will get the wrong idea about him. Just as the two were about to settle down for the night, something unusual happened. Aaron looked up to the sky and outlined and easily noticeable on the orange sunset sky, was a thick cloud of black smoke. Aaron quickly got Sophia's attention and pointed it out to her. "Soph... Isn't that the same direction as..." Before he could even finish the sentence Sophia cut him off and finished it for him "Home!" and took off running. Aaron didn't bother to hesitate this time. He took off just as fast as she did, running as fast as their bodies would allow them they reached the edge of the woods and burst into the opening, giving them a sight of the large valenwood trees, the houses and bars sitting among the massive branches. Or atleast what was left of them. The town was burning. The beautiful trees and homes they grew up around were all burning to the ground. It did not take long to learn the culprit. Looking to the sky there was not one, nor two, but a whole army of red dragons circling on the skies of Solace. On the back of some of these dragons could be seen black knights riding the creatures. The grounds were covered by something even more horrific. Human like creatures, though scaled and clawed hands and feet were roaming around slaughtering or capturing the residents of Solace. Sophia tried to rush into the village to help, do something maybe but was quickly pulled back by Aaron. She kicked and flailed her arms wildly trying to break free and to save the home she had known all of her life but his grip held strong and refused to let her go. "Sophia no! There is nothing we can do now it is too late! The best we can do is save our own lives!" tears starting to run down his face, although they had long started flowing on Sophia's "But Mom, Dad... All of our friends." She sobbed into his chest." "I know Soph. I know." Clutching her to him. Sadly, this moment was not short lived. A strange hissing could be heard before in a crude attempt at common language, one of those foul lizard men pointed towards them with one hand while beckoning to a couple of his friends with the other. "Get them! The young is to be saved for work at the mines!" The scaled creatures quickly turned and drew their blades, long wicked curved scimitars, already covered in blood by the innocents they had already slaughtered. It took a minute to shake Sophia to her senses but once Aaron did, they were both off running. The creatures were certainly fast and seemed to catch up until they hit the trees. Their inexperience in the forest showed heavily as they continually tripped over roots and branches though they managed to keep up with their prey. Aarron, not knowing what else to do, pulled his bow and drew an arrow quickly nocking it into place and turning around to take aim. From his years of experience, he only needed a second. He let the arrow fly and it was a direct hit to the first monsters skull. But it didn't stop there. The creature, before his very eyes, turned to stone before falling over. The remaining two beast stopped and looked at their companion before letting out a blood curdling snarl and continuing the charge. Unfortunately for them, Aaron was much faster. Their slight pause was all the time he needed to nock a second arrow into the bow and let it fly, this one was expected but they were much too slow to dodge the incoming projectile. The second beast took it to the chest and fell to his knees. He was still alive because he hadn't turned to stone. The third beast stopped and let out one more snarl before helping his friend to his feet and turning to return to the village, more than likely looking for easier prey. The two friends didn't bother to stop running. In fact, they kept running for about thirty minutes straight. They only stopped because they hit the edge of the woods and ran into the path and they knew they were safe by now. Wordlessly, Sophia walked over to a large tree and sat with her back to it. Aaron came over and took her into his arms and within moments, they were both asleep. When the two finally woke up, it was morning once more. The birds were chirping and the sun was just rising in the sky. It took a moment for the pair to gather themselves, still feeling as if the day before was a dream. "We need a plan. I have been thinking, and I think we should go to Haven and try to find Samar." Aaron finally breaking the silence and letting it sink in. Samar was a good friend of the two. He was a young Qualinesti elf that came by Solace a lot while he was traveling. Unlike most elves who preferred to stay in their homeland, Samar has always been a traveler and a trouble maker. To put it rather bluntly, he is a rather skilled pickpocket. When this is brought up in conversation he simply says it's never for the gain, but for the challenge. Sophia, after a silent pause, finally only nodded her head in response. She pulled her bag off of her back and pulled out the map and Aaron came to sit down next to her as the two tried to decide if that truly was the best course of action. "Now, obviously we have to avoid the darken woods." Said Aaron, pointing to the large forest before his finger traced a line on the road around it, "And we will have to use the twin peaks pass to go around it." "A-alright..." was all Sophia responded with. The two did not take long to set out. Neither of them could likely stomach any food this morning after what they witnessed the day before. They could likely make it through the mountain pass before the sun went down, but after that is a long open stretch of road. So near the end of the path they decided to find a cave in the peaks and set up camp for the night and make as much progress as they could for the final stretch. Once they reached the cave it was a simple matter to set up a fire and lay out their bedrolls. The two sat around the fire eating dried fruit and preserved meats in almost complete silence although as usual, Aaron was the one who broke the silence, worried about his friend. "Sophia. We will get help, I promise. That... thing. It said something about using the strong and young for slaves. That means they are still alive. We can save them." This seemed to bring a spark to her eyes and she spoke up, "Do you really think we can save them?" Aaron smiled, happy to finally see that lively hood returning to his childhood friend "Of course we can Soph. Samar will convince the elves to help us. They wouldn't just let innocent lives be slaughtered." Sophia nodded and smiled at him, even if it was a little bit forced. She crawled over to him and laid her head on his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around her tugging her a bit closer thankful for the warmth she gave off. They stayed like this for a while before the two finally separated and went to their separate bedrolls. Aaron woke up in the middle of the night. Or sort of woke up. He was in a drowsy state where it seemed to be as if he were sleeping. Although what had woken him up had continued to persist. A scratching noise, plain as day. He wasn't sure what it was and his tired mind was racing through possibilities of what could have been making it. He finally managed to sit himself up and what he saw startled him. Sophia was tied up and gagged, surrounded by four goblins. The noise was the sound of goblin mail scratching against the small opening to one of their tunnels. Unfortunately he had woken up just in time to see the fifth goblins club swinging towards him. Then it was black. When Aaron came to, it couldn't of been more than a few minutes later as the goblins were just now setting up their fire to be able to make a meal out of their new finds. He looked over and saw Sophia bound next to him unconscious. Luckily, goblins were never very smart. There was a guard posted on them but he was facing away from his prisoners and Aaron had already found a sharp stalagmite sticking from the ground to cut his bindings. It only took moments to cut the rotten goblin ropes from his hands. He made sure no goblins were looking before he lunged forward and pulled a dagger from the goblins belt and before he could make a noise, slit the foul creatures throat and slowly lowered him to the floor and retrieved its sword. He took a moment to study the sword he had just acquired. It was of dwarven make, that was for certain. Flipping it over on the other side he could see two initials on the bottom of the steel blade. R.F. Wait a minute. He recognized those initials. Rodrick Firefoot. The blacksmith for Solace. So this goblins were there the night it was destroyed. A rage filled Aarons body and he looked up, now seeing that the other four goblins had noticed their dead companion. Aaron raised the sword as the first creature managed to free its blade and stupidly did not wait for its friends to do the same. It charged Aaron who effortlessly sidestepped the rush and ran the creature through with his blade. He pulled it out to find the next two advancing towards him. Aaron quickly went into a zone of concentration. He flipped the dagger in his left hand while the long sword was in his right. The first goblin reached him on his left, slashing downwards and Aaron raised the dagger deflecting the blow and giving the goblin a stern kick to stun it before quickly ducking, thus dodging the incoming sword from the second goblin and at the same time swinging his sword and taking the creatures leg off with it and it fell to the ground with a scream of pain and Aaron quickly dispatched him with the sword through his skull and pulled it out before swinging it once more, swiping the remaining goblins head clean off. Aaron panted for a moment, his focus fading and he took a moment to count. One... Two... Three... Four... Four dead goblins. Why was something about that wrong? He realized his mistake all too late as he noticed the fifth goblin had Sophia and a dagger to her throat. "Put down the sword human or I will gut her like a pig." The goblin threatened in an awful attempt at common. Although it was enough to get the point across. Aaron slowly lowered to the ground, putting the blades down. The moment his hands left them, an evil grin crossed the creatures face and his muscles tensed to slide the blade across Sophia's neck. Of course the one thing that ended up stopping him was the dagger that was suddenly right between his eyes, killing him instantly. Sophia let out a yelp through the gag, and quickly ran to Aaron and he embraced her undoing the gag and picking up his own blade to cut her bindings before they looked over to where the blade had come from. "Samar!" both Aaron and Sophia exclaimed their joy in unison. Indeed just as they said, the young pointy eared thief was standing there grinning ear to ear. He looked different from last time. His hair was short and jagged in the front, though it's usual brown color had retained. "By the gods. Why is it every time I run into you two you are in some kind of trouble? Honestly have you tried not dying?" he said as if it was an easy thing to avoid these days. The two laughed, glad to see their old friends, and glad that, as he said, had saved the pairs lives once more. Sadly, it did seem to be a habit. Last time the two had nearly gotten killed by an elven hunting party, who seemed more then convinced the two were hunting on sacred grounds. Samar being an elf talked them out of that. "What are you doing here old friend?" Aaron said going up to shake Samar's hand and pulled him in for a hug at the same time. "Coin. What else would I have to do in these god forsaken mountains." Walking over to the goblins starting to cut the ears off of them and put them into a pouch "Knights of Solamnia pay a decent price for each pair of goblin ears. I'll give you a cut of what I get since you dispatched most of them." After all that excitement, and the soon to be rotting corpses of five goblins, the trio decided to pass up on any more rest. They gathered their belongings and what they could salvage from the dead goblins, which actually was some decent coin, and they went on their way. It took almost twenty four hours to reach Haven, so it was once again dark. The trio decided it was best to grab a room for the night. Samar bought his own room, though Sophia and Aaron were used to sharing at this point and the money may be needed for supplies. Before returning to their rooms the friends sat down to a warm meal and a cold ale "So Samar. We need your help. Solace is gone. Destroyed by dragons and... Some lizard men creatures. But one of them mentioned slaves. We want the elves to send a rescue party and save our family." Aaron explained all in one go. Samar sat and thought for a moment before replying "It will be hard to convince them it's worth it. But I believe I can do it. By the way, those beast were called Draconians. You aren't the first to have seen them. They have been popping up all over the place as of recently." With that, there was really not too much more to discuss. Samar went to his room while Aaron and Sophia went to theirs. Aaron was all to crawl into bed and close is eyes and relax. Sophia was doing something; he assumed she was unpacking or something. "I never had the chance to thank you for what you did for me." Sophia said to him. Aaron opened a single eye but soon both of them were wide open. Sophia was standing before him, having undressed and completely naked to his eyes. Her hands covered her breast and her legs crossed slightly to hide her most private parts. Aaron couldn't remove his eyes from her body; the moonlight was peering through the window at just the right angle bathing her body in silver light. Sophia let her hand drop, revealing her breast to him before she walked over to him crawling over top of him, her hands on either side of his body and she slowly lowered her lips down to his. Both of them in that instantly melted into each other, the kiss having been a long time coming as his hands wrapped around her back and pulled her too him, deepening the kiss as his tongue would push past her lips to mix with hers. This would last for several minutes before it finally broke with reluctance. "Sophia... I love you. I always have." "Shh shh... I love you too Aaron but the time for talk is gone." A grin would show on her face. The Dawn of the Dragons Her hand would slowly run down his body and easily slip into his pants, feeling for the length she had longed for so long. Aaron let out a gasp at the feeling of her hand slowly sliding up and down his shaft, this being the first time for both of them though neither of them knew it just yet. Aaron finally let out a grin before grabbing Sophia by the hips and quickly flipping her over so she was on her back and he was ontop. Sophia would let out a giggle at the suddenly change of pace and the laughter would quickly change to a small moan as he would put his lips to her neck, kissing and sucking on the sensitive skin. She would arc her neck to allow better access for him, although he had no intentions of staying long as he started to slowly kiss his way downwards until he reached her breast, taking one of the sensitive nipples into his mouth and sucking softly while his hand gently massaged the free one. Sophia's head was already spinning despite having just started and knowing full well it wasn't near over. Aaron's free hand started to roam down her body until he reached her legs, a single finger finding Sophia's lower lowers running the finger up and down slowly to tease her. Despite her attempts to hold them in, at the new sensation of his finger slowly pushing deeper and deeper into her she couldn't help but let out a loud moan, although her face turned red as a result. "Aaron. I can't take this anymore. Please take me." letting out another moan as he teased her clit. "What was that you said? No more talking." Lifting up pulling his own shirt off and starting to kiss his way down her body slowly, finally reaching the the eagerly awaiting pussy. He teased her at first by planting kisses up and down her legs and the dripping slit before he pushed his tongue in, eager to taste the sweet nectar dripping out of her. Sophia moaned and groaned lost in her own pleasure, It didn't take too much longer before the first time attentions on the young pussy caused her to shake as her hold body shook in an orgasm. Aaron eagerly licked up every drop of the cum that came out of her before he stood to remove his pants and climbed back over top of her, lining his length up with the entrance to her sex. He paused and looked to her eyes, the two meeting gazes and she gave a nod giving him the okay. He would soon after push inside of her slowly, inching in more and more at a time breaking away her virginity and bottoming out in her. Sophia was currently lost in the pleasure her newly founded lover was giving her. As he penetrated her body, something she craved for a while now, her mouth hung wide open in a mixture of both pleasure and pain. Once he was fully inside of her she held him in place, waiting for the pain to subside before she released her grip and allowed him to move, their lips moving to lock together once more in a loving embrace. Aaron started to slowly slide in and out of Sophia, being extra careful not to harm her. His lips eagerly locked with hers while his hands roamed her body teasing every sensitive patch of skin he could find. The room was quickly filled with sounds of Sophia's moans and the old rickety tavern bed squeaking with every thrust. Despite likely waking the whole tavern, he increased his pace wanting nothing else then to bring pleasure to his lover. "A-Aaron! Don't stop! I'm going to cum soon!" Sophia barely managed to work out past her moans. Aaron smiled, only encouraged by her words, having been close himself for the longest time but holding back for his loved one. He picked up the pace on his thrusting, the bed scratching against the floor as it moved in their passions. Soon enough her tight passage closed up around Aarons length, squeezing it as her liquid leaked out around the intruding member. No longer able to hold on with this new feeling, Aaron started to cum himself, filling the entrance full of warm hot liquid. His pumping persisted until the two were completely spent and they finally collapsed into each other's arms, too spent to event pull the softening member out of Sophia. "I love you." Was the last words the two muttered to each other before they drifted off to sleep in one another's arms. The Dawn Of Understanding I can still see her in my minds eye. The memory of her echoes through my head even still. Her voice still sings sonnets and her face will forever be imprinted in my soul. I never knew her name, I never touched her, I never even talked to her. I know this woman only from a distance and only for a very short time. Her curves and body will remain with me forever. I would be remiss if I said that she was perfect, for she was simply a mortal woman. Her flesh was not without blemish and her hair did not shine. The woman's curves were not flawless and her voice was far short of angelic. I remember laying eyes on her. I was young in the ways of the world and even younger still in the ways of sensuality. The plastic seat was hard and I was exhausted. I was a movement out of the corner of my eye, as the woman sat several seats from me in the chilly airport terminal. I still have a perfect image of that first glimpse of the woman, I remember every line and shadow of her face. I remember the dark blond hair the framed her pretty face. It was a pretty face. As I said she was no goddess, I have seen many women that would be considered more beautiful than she. I believe that pretty is the best word to describe this woman. She was pretty in a plain way that spoke volumes of her life. I remember that our eyes locked, for no more than a second before we each looked away. She had pretty eyes, the kind that intoxicates, the kind that could steal your heart if you weren't careful, the kind that could steel your heart if you weren't careful. Her eyes were green with a touch of hazel running through them. There was a mystery there, a form of sadness if you will. I knew at that moment that she was far from where she was supposed to be. A sadness that I could relate to, I was preparing to leave everything and embrace a strange, new world. I was to fly away and discover life with people I hardly knew. I was to trust them and live with them, this is what truly caused my fear. I was so scared, when I looked into her eyes. I know that she could see right into my naive eyes. My heart and soul looked upon this pretty woman with a kind of reverence, she was where I would be soon. My home was her strange, new world. This was the first time that this concept would make sense to me. How much she would teach me, in such a short time, this woman. She was just a woman, but my fear made her what she became. A milestone on my journey though life. I have said that her curves were not perfect, but they were there. Subtle and quiet, the kind that would speak to a naïve soul on his quest to join the world of manhood. I quickly learned this when she stood and walked to the ticket counter. As she moved to the counter I followed her with my eyes, tracing every line of her backside. For a brief moment I wondered what her body looked like. She wore simple traveling clothes; jeans and a pink t-shirt, covered with a denim jacket. I was trying to avoid it but the thoughts came anyway. My mind removed the jacket and then the shirt. I envisioned her with a simple white brazier, it was just the type of woman she seemed to be. In my mind the brazier fell away as she spoke to the woman at the ticketing counter. I traced the lines of her bare back with my minds eye. This was not a sexual image for me, despite my naive mind. The image was more of an erotic awakening for me. The first time seeing a woman as something more than sexual, this woman exposed to the world of sensuality. The comfortable jeans this woman wore fell away and I discovered that her panties were simple white cotton, just as her brazier had been. I watched in awe as her legs came into view. Upper thighs led the way to the back of her knees and then further to her calves. I looked upon this woman with new eyes as I undressed her in my mind. The panties fell away when I had studied every curve and shadow of her legs. The part of her buttock intrigued me, enthralled my mind and soul. My fear of my own new world kept me focused on this woman and her every curve and line. The object of my study turned away from the counter and gave me a chance to partake of her front. Even more riveting than her back side, her front side sang to me like a siren's song. I traced the dark circles of her nipples and over her stomach and the shadows there. I looked upon her as a student being taught the ways of the art of the female form. In fact, that was how it was, I, an eager pupil and she my teacher. I looked down her stomach and into the neat patch of dark curls that rested gracefully on her pubic bone. I followed from her slender fingers over her arms and up onto her shoulders. I drank in that seemingly simple place where her neck met her shoulders. Her flesh seemed so delicate and fragile to my eyes, so...something. I watched as she walked, her hair bouncing with every step. Her breast bounced in rhythmic time with her hair. The gentle stomach muscles of this woman danced a peaceful and serine dance as she commanded them to move in time with her legs as they strode toward their destination. Her destination, as it would turn out was me. When this fact dawned on me a new kind of fear gripped me. She knew what I had been doing, she was upset with me for my mind's wanderings. A part of me felt guilty for what my mental eyes had seen of her, I felt ashamed for looking at her in way that would make her feel uncomfortable. The woman stopped directly in front of me and looked down upon me. I couldn't bring myself to look up into her eyes and my own remained locked on the floor. I was terrified, almost to the point of an inability to convey the emotion. She opened her mouth and spoke to me, I regretted what I had done and swore that I would never look upon another woman with the same eyes, "Excuse me, but do you have the time?" I was astounded at her voice, it nearly knocked me to floor. Her words were uttered with the accent of a Scott. She was far from home and feeling lost, she was afraid of my world. I told her the time, looking up into her eyes. What she did next has had be baffled and confused for the last three years. She winked at me and smiled a kind of wry smile. The woman returned to original seat and continued to await the arrival of our flight. I have often wondered if she knew what I was up to, she had to have. Did she approve of my behavior or was she simply being polite? I was far too young for her at the time so I doubt that it was a sign of attraction. It simply was what it was. I have never forgotten that woman and the lessons I learned from her simple inquiry to the ticket counter. That woman taught me how to appreciate the female form. The female form is undoubtedly the greatest of all of God's creations. A form so perfect and lovely, in all its forms, that no one can deny its beauty. It is so perfect that even other women can appreciate the grace and poise of it. It is what is; and so much more. Ever since that moment in an airport terminal I have never looked upon women in the same way. I had never before seen the female form as something to be cherished and praised. I knew why the poems were penned and the songs were sung. I knew what it meant to see with eyes of a lover. I had learned the artistic song of the female form and I would never be the same. It was all so clear to me then. I owe that woman so much. I have now learned enough of life and this cruel world to know what that basic encounter means in the scheme of things. If that woman is reading, which I doubt, thank you. I will never forget what you have done for me. I hope your return to your home was as great as mine, peace be with you, woman. E * Chapter 1: Change Zara stormed into the club with murder in her eyes. Kai and Stéfane would pay dearly for the millionth prank they pulled on her in her very long life. She wondered how she managed not to kill them in the thousand and a half years they had been walking the earth. She had been planning to dye her long wavy chestnut hair that night when it had all gone horribly wrong. Her brother and his little sidekick had replaced her usual product with one that had left her hair white, bordering on silver. Had she stopped to look at herself, she would have realized the effect on her light skin and large, green eyes was unmistakably ethereal, surprisingly enhancing her already gorgeous features. She hadn't stopped to look however, her temper flaring instantly, as it usually did. She also hadn't missed the fact that he had invaded her space, and she was extremely private when it came to her living arrangements. She didn't allow anyone into her domain, as most vampires do. They were naturally a very secretive species. Living with her brother most of her life, she needed her own place to escape. Most importantly, and the cause for most of her fury at the moment, he had taken her ring, and he should have known better. She had left their home and climbed into her Aston Martin, speeding all the way to her brother's club. She found Kai sitting in a large booth with a pretty girl in his lap; she seemed a young vampire, no more than half a century. A few other men sat with him, Stéfane to his right. Her fangs elongated as a long hiss escaped her as she stomped towards them, her eyes glowing silver, causing dancers to give her a wide berth. "You idiots think this is funny?!" she shrieked, gesturing to her hair, "I'm going to cut your balls off and feed them to you Kai, and when I'm done, I will gladly do the same to you Stéfane!" she glared at him, her eyes growing brighter. "I don't know sis, I think it suits you wonderfully! Much more age appropriate I think," he said laughing loudly. She growled, "Where the fuck is it Kai? I know you took it!" "What are you rambling on about dear sister?" he said while waving a hand in the air, a strobe light glinted off of the emerald ring on his pinky finger. "Sweetheart," she said in a sickly sweet voice to the youngling in his lap, "I suggest you unwrap yourself from my brother immediately, so I can kill him. Don't want to harm that pretty little head now do we?" One look at Zara, and the youngling was scrambling off Kai's lap and far away from the scene that was about to unfold. Her brother sighed resignedly, "I quite liked that one," he said in a disgruntled tone. Zara pounced on him suddenly, grabbing him by the throat. He reacted immediately, pushing her back, landing them both hard on the ground, with him hovering over her. She kneed him in the crotch and rolled them over, her hand still clasping around his neck, her nails digging into his skin, piercing his throat. She wrenched the ring off his hand, breaking the finger with a loud snap in the process. The instant the ring was back in her possession, her eyes began returning to their normal state, the glow merely a silver halo now. She felt Stéfane attempting to pull her back by the shoulders, she whipped around in a blur and punched him hard in the face, breaking his nose and sending him flying back, as though an invisible rope was tied around his waist. "Don't worry Stéfane, you'll get your turn, as soon as I'm done with brother dearest," she hissed. When she turned back around, she found her brother standing again, the wounds in his neck already healing. With the ring back on her hand, she felt her untamed power being reigned in, her anger going down a notch. "You're so fucking lucky you're my brother Kai, or I would rip your head off right now without a second thought." "Love you sis," he said with a smirk, then blowing her a kiss. She blurred again and pushed him so hard in the chest he flew back and slammed against a wall, causing a sizable chunk of concrete to crumble with him to the floor. They had drawn the attention of almost the entire club. The stares of the patrons sobered her up a little and she attempted to calm herself once again. "Jesus, Zara, it's not like you can't fix it! That bloody hurt!" Stéfane said, walking back to the booth, setting his nose back in its place with a resounding crack, his healing abilities already at work. "That was the point dumbass," she rolled her eyes, slapping him upside the head. "Why do you even bother with that human made crap, you can easily will your hair any colour, and it will be," Kai growled, setting his finger back in place and brushing dust off his Armani suit, more angry that it was ruined than having been bested by his sister, "Really Zara, sometimes I don't understand your fascination with all these human limitations." It was true, as a vampire she could will her looks into being. If she wanted long hair or short, blonde or red, all she had to do was think it and it would change upon her will. She could will many things into existence. It was one of the many perks of her supernatural life. She had grown tired of it however, wanting something to do in her boredom. She opted to attempt the way humans went about doing things. It was her new project at the moment, attempting not to use her abilities for the week, simply live as a human would. More than boredom though, she wanted to test how far she could suppress her surplus of abilities and for how long, as she was no ordinary vampire. She had come up with the idea to give her something to do. She hadn't realized until it was too late what the two idiots sitting in front of her had done. She hadn't changed her hair back either because she saw it as cheating, she had two days left in the week and she wouldn't allow Kai to ruin her little experiment. It was when her anger sparked and the sheer force of power that hit her, did she realize he had taken the ring from her dresser. While not as strong as if it was on her person, its proximity still held part of its enchantments, containing the energy that raged through her. The magic worked on it made it an extension of her body, an extra limb, as she liked to think of it. Another organ, working to keep her alive. "That is besides the point Kailan!" she growled back, using his full name, "How many times have I told you and Stéfane to remain out of my private quarters! I'm so blessed to have a half-wit as a brother, and his mentally challenged friend for my life's companions!" she snorted. "Do not think to even try to unleash that side of me again. You are both playing with fire! I moved back here because you asked me to, I will not hesitate to pack up and leave! I'm disappointed in you Kai, you of all people should know the consequences, and the toll it takes on me. If I so much as scent you near my wing again, I will follow through on my previous promise. See how you enjoy living another two thousand years without your balls." She turned on her stiletto clad heel and walked out, her silver hair waving behind her like silk. In her fury, she hadn't noticed who her brother's companions were. Had she stopped to look, she would have found a pair of deep cerulean eyes staring after her, completely amused. --- "Perhaps it wasn't wise to piss off your own flesh and blood Kai," a low, smooth voice drawled to his left. "I'm sorry she interrupted us Philippe, my sister does have quite the temper, I didn't mean for you to meet her like that. It's been such a drag around here though, I was merely trying to liven things up," he grinned. "Understandable, but it is perhaps not the best of times, Kai..." Philippe Desmarais had been intrigued the moment Zara Wynters had stormed her cute little ass into the club. He immediately took notice of her beautiful face, framed by her now silver hair. She looked like she walked out of a fairytale, her smooth skin glowing, her heart shaped face set in a frown. She had full, red lips that contrasted against her skin. Her dark emerald green eyes, framed by thick black lashes glowed with a ring of silver shimmering in her anger. He had only ever seen one other vampire's eyes glow like that, which only intrigued him further as to who Zara Wynters was, and how she came to be. Her little show with Kai and Stéfane gave him a great view of her body from every possible angle. She was tall, her legs clad in tight dark wash jeans, which acted like a second skin. He could see the ripple of muscle under the softness of her flesh. Her dark green silk tank top had left little to the imagination, hugging her curves and the swell of her breasts, revealing the smooth, taut flesh of her stomach. When she had crouched over her brother, she had given the entire room a perfect view of her round, heart shaped ass. He felt himself stiffen at the sight of her, so feral and wild. He had a soft spot for wilder women. Zara Wynters definitely seemed to have a wild streak. It took all his will power not to follow her out as she swayed her hips temptingly; drawing more stares from the crowd. "Although, it definitely was entertaining," he smiled turning back to Kai. "Philippe, I can already see where you're thoughts are taking you. If you want to keep your head, I suggest you don't prod the tiger. Zara will eat you alive," he chuckled. "I live for a challenge, you should know that. " "Don't say I didn't warn you. Now let's get back to business. Since you're staying here indefinitely, we'll gladly set up the West Wing for you at our home, until everything is worked out." "Merci Kai, I shall most definitely look forward to it. Tell me, which Wing is your sister located?" he smiled mischievously. Kai simply laughed and shook his head, "The South Wing..." So that was Zara Wynters, he thought. She was everything he had been told she would be and more, although admittedly his friend had left out a lot of details. She hadn't noticed him however, which did not sit well with Philippe. He was not used to women ignoring him, and yet Zara did not seem to have eyes for anyone but her brother and Stéfane. Was he not her type? He knew she was not attached, his research had told him she had not been involved with anyone for years. Surly she had to indulge every now and then. He was more than the right type of man for such indulgence. He sighed, I really am an arrogant bastard, he thought. One little woman doesn't notice me and I'm as insecure as a teenager in high school. Philippe was a little surprised when he had received a phone call from his closest friend, asking him to visit Kailan, and see that he and the girl were doing fine. He never understood his friend's obsession with those two, but he befriended Kailan almost eighty years ago at his behest, and found he genuinely liked the younger vampire. This was his first encounter with his sister, and he found he liked her too, more than he should. She most definitely had a temper, which may be a problem for him in the future, but he was confident he could control her. First, however, he had to make her notice him. It was quite convenient that Kai offered him a place to stay in their home. It would make his task easier. --- Zara was back in her room, shaking after the adrenaline had left her system. Her heart almost stopped when she realized her idiot brother had taken the ring. He could be so foolish sometimes! She had been even more foolish to remove it briefly. She looked down at it now, resting on her forefinger. It was a thin band of white gold with a large oval shaped emerald set in the center with four claws holding it in place. Smaller cut emeralds surrounded it, all set in a fine border of filigree. It spanned almost half her slender finger. There was an inscription in an ancient language long forgotten by the world along the outside of the band in thin curvy writing. Only she and one other person knew the meaning of the enchantment. This small object was the only thing keeping her powers in check. She was beginning to think her little experiment was foolish. Removing her ring for the week in an effort to try and control her powers on her own was risky. She realized now the test was pointless anyways, because the ring still held some of its effects while she was close to it, like an invisible shield. She didn't think Kai would be just as foolish. She wondered briefly whether she should just kill her brother and be done with it. She sighed, how many times had she thought of doing that over the years. She laughed out loud lightly. As much as her brother got under her skin she loved him to no end. He was her only family, aside from Stéfane. She could never bring herself to kill them, especially Kai, as she had sired him not long after she was brought into this life. Killing him would kill her. Of course they drove her mad, but she would gladly put up with it than walk the earth alone. She satisfied herself with beating the shit out of them every once in a while. He had been foolish tonight, his boredom causing him to be reckless. He loved when she lost control, saying it always brought out something to look forward to. If he only knew how she feared herself. He thought after so much time she had come to terms with it. She hated the fact that she did not know how to control the raw energy that ran through her body. It pulsed within her, matching the beating of her heart. She had always downplayed her abilities, even in front of Kai. She did not want to worry him or Stéfane. There was nothing any of them could do; there were no books or ancient texts referring to anything remotely similar to what Zara possessed. God only knew she had searched the Earth thousands of times over. She had found no reference to any creature, vampire or other that held the same characteristics as she. There was not one word on why her eyes held the strange silver iris, why when she felt any particular emotion strongly her natural green colouring would be completely taken over by the silver. There had been no texts on her ability to mentally communicate with anyone, regardless if they shared blood. No texts described the level of speed and strength she possessed. Only an ancient at least twice her age could posses such strength. Nothing mentioned her telekinesis, although most vampires possessed similar powers, none possessed more than one. Most of all, nothing had described the energy she felt within her, like another living organism pulsed from her very core. The things she could do when she tapped into that energy were endless, and particularly terrifying. She had learned to tap into certain parts of herself, to strengthen abilities that she deemed harmless, such as changing her appearance and willing objects into fruition, but there remained a large part she shied away from. She knew she was extremely powerful, but she had never asked for such power. Over time she had decided she was probably a freak of nature; she was a vampire after all. She resigned herself to the fact that she walked the Earth alone, as a singular irregularity, some sort of mistake by nature that had never repeated itself since she was reborn. In her attempt to find answers, she had searched for her creator, the man who sired her so long ago. He was the oldest of their kind that she knew of. He seemed to not want to be found, though. Xander hadn't checked up on her since their last meeting almost seven centuries ago, which ended rather explosively. She had lost her temper and hurt Xander, both emotionally and physically. He had left the next day, leaving her alone, confused. She regretted everything she said, the moment she said it but her anger won out as it always did. She had missed her friend, maker and mentor every single day since, but had accepted his silence as her punishment. She had tried to push the mental link they shared, but he had blocked her with such force she never attempted again. That was her life, constantly traveling, searching for answers, searching for Xander, or anyone who could somehow help her understand why she was so different. She had learned little concerning her unusual traits, but she had gained much knowledge of cultures, languages and people. She had learned and seen things that she would never forget, that shaped her and while they weren't the answers she was looking for, they were answers to questions she never thought to ask. So she kept up her traveling, eager to see what she could uncover next. That was until Kai had called her, begging her to come home. It had been almost 45 years since she had seen him. She had missed him every single day. They had argued over the phone for hours. He grew angry with her, telling her that she was chasing after shadows. She would never find anything and that she should just accept herself for what she was, an anomaly. He missed her and wanted her home again, not chasing after things that did not exist. She was frustrated with him. He didn't understand. He never had. She had always held back around Kai, for fear he would find her abhorrent, that he would turn her away. He had never seen her at her full extent, when she drew on every last shred of her power; he came close once, but didn't see much as he was trying to save her at the time. The only person who had was Xander, and he had walked away from her immediately afterwards. She would not lose Kai or Stéfane. Eventually however, she had conceded to her brother's demands, thinking a few months back home would pacify him. That had been two weeks ago, and already she grew restless, eager to travel again, to add to her infinite well of knowledge. She sighed loudly, pushing all the memories back. One stupid ring had caused her to dwell on things she did not want to think about. "Why so sad, ma chérie?" she heard Antoinette's voice from the door. Zara watched Antoinette glide into the room, exuding elegance and there was no other word for it -- magic. She was a witch, one who managed to live almost seven hundred years, thanks to her Elvin blood. She was of average height, but so slender it made her look taller than she really was. She had golden hair that ran in long tight curls down her back, and highlighted her pixie-esque face. Her eyes were the lightest blue and always seemed to twinkle, as though she knew something you did not. "Toni, can you work a spell to shrivel up Kai and Stéfane's balls? At least for one day? Please?" she asked, sitting up from her bed on her elbows, glancing at her dearest friend with wide, hopeful eyes. Toni laughed as she sat on the edge of the bed, "Qu'ont-ils fait eh? What did these fools do to my Zara?" she asked, a hint of her French accent coming through, running her hand along Zara's hair. "Aside from the obvious," she said as she rolled her eyes and gestured to her hair, "they took my ring -- again. Toni, I almost killed them both!" "Will they never learn?" Toni sat up abruptly and began swearing in French, so fast that had it not been for Zara's excellent hearing, she would have missed half the things coming from the witch's mouth. She turned suddenly, a wicked gleam in her eyes. "They will no longer be so foolish, chérie," she said laughter in her voice. "What did you do?" "What you asked and more. Let us say the women gracing their beds tonight will find them sadly lacking the certain equipment required to perform to their usual standards." Zara began laughing loudly, the sound echoing in her room, as both women fell back on the bed and giggled until tears streamed their faces. It was quite convenient having a witch as a best friend, she thought. This should keep them from pulling any crap for at least half a century she thought wryly.
