"I would like to drink a cup of pitch black coffee please." He grabbed a cup and looked around at the guests. A huge werewolf with thick fur, suspicious eyes, sharp teeth and claws rose from the chair to greet the hooded stranger. "Welcome to the Aching Spear Sir. You can call me Wolfy. Now to the matter at hand Sir. Dark rick coffee is it? Well we have Divine that will almost dissolve a spoon, dark and rich Elven espresso served in demitasse, Or Werewolf espresso served in bowls for those that truly enjoy dark rich coffee. So what's your pleasure?" "Thank you Sir Wolfy. My name is Thorald Deighton and I would like to order a bowl of Werewolf espresso please. You have many guests here and I wonder if you have a room that I could rent? I need a place to heal and rest because I have been severely injured in the war. I have been attacked many times and each scar has its own story and memory." Wolfy listened to his request and poured him a bowl of Werewolf espresso and slid it over to him. "I am sure we can find you a room on the second floor if you don't mind a room tucked under the eaves of the Inn's roof. Nothing fancy mind you just a dresser, a little wood stove for heat and a bed big enough for two if you find some feminine company," he teased the old soldier. Then on a more serious note he said, "The tavern is a good place to relax and heal. I know I have my own old demons and scares to deal with Thorald." "Thank you very much Wolfy. The coffee was delicious and I will take the room. Are there any meals and drinks served here? Do you know any girl that would like to make me company or is there any other entertainment here? The enemy exists everywhere. The only thing they want to cause as much damage as possible and they only follow nothing but their hate. My double edged sword "Silver Slayer" is getting worn out along with my armour." "It is not how shiny your armor is Thorald but how strong and well made it is. I know my own is quite tarnished. As far as meals well Pink Wing is a rather irascible chef and is quite a hand with Non-human as well as Barbarian dishes. As far as young ladies company that is something you will have to approach them on Sir. But you can rest here and relax a bit our gates are strong and the staff keeps a rather close watch through the night." "Everything that is broken can be fixed Wolfy. Do you know any good smith or weapons and armour shops around here? I love the Human kitchen. Is there any meal in particular that you can recommend or should I take the regular food? I am too scared to talk to the angel over there. What if she would disintegrate me with her mighty powers. I haven't even spoken to any lady since the beginning of my journey. I can help your guards if they get in trouble because it is easier to defend yourself when the attackers can only come from one direction. Some taverns had gambling and even brothels. Maybe a tournament could be arranged here?" Wolfy shook his head while the angel with sky blue eyes, long bright hair and shiny rune covered full plate that was custom made for her large wings flew closer. The angel offered Thorald a smile of welcome. "Hello and well met. Please feel free to call me Angel. Alas I have not come into any powers yet, although some here may say I have the power to babble someone to tears..." "Hello Lady Angel. You look great today! Nice to meet you here inside the Inn. You have a very beautiful smile and your charm is your strongest power. I doubt that you would make me cry for any reason but you are divine. You are a very nice and kind soul. Do you want to make me company and what would you like to do together with me Angel?" She blushed in recollection of his comment about her smile and charm. "Thanks! I see that we have yet another silver tongued devil gracing the tavern. I must do some chores before I can reward myself with time in the tavern and doodling," Angel said before she went outside and flew away. A voice from the ether said, "I'm sure she could think of a few things," somebody chuckled. It was not long before the elf with pointy ears, big muscles, Elven mail, long blond hair and green eyes appeared. He nodded to the new comer. His smile let him know that he was only joking. "Vedui, hail and well met." He offered a hand to greet him. Thorald give the elf a firm handshake to greet him. "Hello noble fighter and may the sun always shine on you wherever you go. I thought that you were busy fighting at the battlefield. I can't read Angel's mind but anything is better than loitering." A woman with large breasts, long red hair, deep brown eyes and huge muscles walked toward them. Her fur clothes covered the most sensitive areas. "She comes to see and hear an old friend of hers. She waits until he finishes speaking to go down off her rafter to appear at his side," she said and stood on tiptoe. She leaned close to kiss the elf's cheek and waved to the newcomer. I am sorry that I didn't see you before brave Barbarian. I hope all is well with you and your world." "Greetings and well met. All is good and I reside up there," she pointed to the rafters, "When I have time to come for you," she turned and grinned cheekily at the elven knight. Thorald waved to the mysterious warrioress. "Nice to see you beautiful woman. I am sure that Angel will come back since it sounds like she is here quite frequently. There certainly are many fighters inside this Inn. Have a nice time and maybe we will meet again?" "Hi Thorald, good to meet you," she extended her hand and Thorald grabbed the hand and shook it properly. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm not sure how many fighters you'll find here, most tend to fall into the lover category," she said and gave him a wink. "Good to see you all are well and enjoying the weekend. I think it's a good evening to throw some meat on the grill and see what happens," a small pink winged dragon said. "Thank you and greetings to everybody that is visiting the tavern. Mm barbecue is perfect in the evening when you can enjoy the light of fire that licks the meat and makes it crispy. Well everybody wants to join or be recruited by the army of lovers but only a few are good enough to qualify. You seem to be a jolly gal but it is gloomy that almost nobody noticed me but they are too busy with each other I guess." "Ah through some meat on the grill and a charbroil feast is always an excellent way to spend a weekend evening Thorald. Oh there is a rather talented blacksmith in the village Xando at the base of the hill is forge is by the quayside. I am sure he can do whatever you need done to repair armor or blade." "Thank you exotic woman. My weekend has been peaceful and quiet so I can't complain. Yes it is a tough and hard life without any obvious meaning or pleasures. Most things makes me unimpressed and bored since I have experienced many things and been on long travels all over this world. There is only death, pain and misery out there. My village Candie was burned to ashes and all my friends and family were slain by an anonymous group. I am grateful to have found some shelter here. Shame that the Angel flies away when I try to communicate with her. There are many interesting and exciting people that visits the tavern regularly or drops in. I avoid drinking to stay sharp and alert if someone tries to assassinate me or attack this tavern. I tried to have a good time but I have failed." "I wouldn't sweat it too much, I'm sure Angel has just been caught up in the other world as happens from time to time." "Maybe she is busy cleaning the Heaven or the Hell. It feels like I'm the invisible man that almost everyone ignores." "Take it easy Thorald. Holiday weekends can be a bit slow for folks. Everybody got plans and whatever. One never knows who may come in." The Barbarian took a long sip of the much needed brew. "Yes it certainly is a good day to rest on and I hope your week has been even better. Well I don't have such kind of problems or worries my friend. I am a mercenary and I have no family or close friends but that is the downside of my profession. I wonder if everyone has a destiny that they have to complete in their lifetime and if everything has a purpose?" Thorald winked at the pretty woman. "My weekend has been a mostly relaxing one thank you Thorald. A mercenary's life can indeed be a lonely one. Fortunately there are places like this to take refuge and enjoy some easy banter and playful fun." "I wonder if that delicious lady tastes just as delicious as she looks. Do you think or know so sexy lady?" Angel flew inside the tavern and landed in front of them. The girl walked away to her elven friend. "Greetings my Angel," Thorald said and winked at the Angel. She blushed at his comment about tastes. "So you are busy and I'm not. I have nothing and just feel like sleeping all the time. I'm just so very tired of everything and everybody." "Alas, I have to deal with devils and the war in Hell so my time has been severely curtailed, Thorald. I'm sorry to hear that. We all have hard times from time to time." "In that case why are you here if you are so busy with your important quests when you have no time to stay here? I cannot understand this and all I wanted was a good time to get a break from my reality since I had a tough week with many battles." "I'm sorry, Thorald. I was a bit, confused yesterday due to some Divine coffee and was lucky to have my wings working when my fuzzy brain was trying to get them to fly." "Maybe you will feel better if we go up to the rafters and fly to the seventh sky together? I don't need to beg for my forgiveness since you haven't done anything wrong to me yet. I think you are brilliant. I like your expressions and the way you talk. I'm blinded and stunned by your beauty." "I have to be vigilant or they might recall my halo, sir. Although my evil twin tries to break in every now and then," she said and pointed at the halo above her head. "This world seems to be beyond salvation when even the friends has become enemies. I feel like using my Silver Slayer to unleash my rage but that doesn't solve my problems or this war but nothing is fun anymore. This isn't very satisfying or entertaining to me and I have had enough rest." Thorald left the Inn forever and slammed the door. "Have a good weekend Thorald. I hope you find what you're looking for," Angel called out when she followed the departed visitor. Wolfy lifted his head with a start as he realized that he had fallen asleep in his chair. He saw that the tavern was almost empty and stoked the fire to make a fresh pot of coffee for the morning. Wolfy heated up the leftovers while the fresh pot brewed and took a sip. It was strong and thick but it hit the spot and sent caffeine coursing to his brain.
