I want to thank my editor, J.Q. Hack. Even though we might not be speaking at this time in life, hopefully someday we will be friends again. And even though I hated changing it to what you had, it is better, so thank you. ================================================= Outpost 59 Chapter 1 "Ah, Agent Jacobsin. Come in." Micha Forbest said to me as I poked my head into his office. "Are you all set to go?" "Yes, sir." I snapped my heels together, toes facing out, and bowed my head slightly as a salute. "Good, good. At ease, Agent." I spread my legs a bit and raised my head. "Now all you need is a quick run through of your duties. First, above all, you must keep this mission confidential. No one must know you are investigating the surge of profit loss from Outpost 59. Second, and I know this will be hard, but there is reason for us to believe that Colonel McFadden is part of this. You will need to get as close to him as possible. Use any means necessary. And I mean any means." Micha cleared his throat and tried not to turn too red. "I understand, Chief." I said, trying to ease some of his discomfort. "I was trained to use any method necessary. I know what to do and I won't let you down. I knew full well what I was getting into when I joined the agency." Micha's look was of pure relief. "You are my best. Always knew it. Finally you have a month before Head Command will send in it's own task force to figure things out. D.C. wants answers without having to involve Head Command, so find out." "Yes sir." "Now, if you need any help or resources, use this private communicator." He handed me a small silver encased monitor. "New issue. The routing number is on the back panel. It will transfer data up to one thousand light-years. Much further than normal, but it will take a while to get to us. The good thing is it will be a completely secure line. There is no way anyone will be able to intercept what you send us. Plus, just ask for anything in the Confederations database, and it will come up. Including any fiction for enjoyment. The boys in the tech lab had fun cramming everything in the chip. Which is about the size of a pinhead. So you have the universe at your fingertips." "Thank you, Chief. Anything else?" I pocketed the communicator. "Uhh." His face started turning red again. "Did you make sure you packed some frilly female stuff so you actually look like a girl? I don't think I have ever seen you in a dress. No offence." I laughed lightly. "None taken, and yes. I have plenty of filmy, frothy things. Gobs of dresses, shoes, under things. "Okay, just wanted to make sure." Micha cleared his throat.. "Mm hmm. Now I had best go and get my bags. The transport leaves in an hour. May I ask a favor, sir?" "Yes, yes. What is it?" "Would you see to it that my plants in my office stay watered while I am gone. My jewel flower is a special one of mine." "Of course. Now you had better go. Transports are notorious for not always leaving when they say." "Yes sir." I snapped a salute and left his office. I picked up my two bags and leather satchel from my office and stuffed the communicator into the satchel. I could catch up on information on the flight. I waved a goodbye to my fellow agents and headed out of the Outland Treasury Department. It was an absolutely gorgeous sunny day in D.C. Midsummer was always nice, if a bit warm. It was a shame I wouldn't be here to enjoy it. Don't get me wrong. I love traveling out of the galaxy, but I was more of the earth terrestrial. I liked having my feet firmly planted on terra firma any day. I hailed a cab and we headed out to Regan. My transport ship, the Orpheus, was scheduled to leave at 1 PM. It would be a three day flight to the outpost just outside of the Andromeda galaxy. This was to be my first visit to this particular outpost, but from all accounts, it was the most spectacular. It was home to almost ten thousand individuals who worked on the base or transported to other substations based about the galaxy. It was also home to a large fleet of military personnel. Hence Colonel McFadden. I was fascinated with all I had learned of the colonel. At only thirty, he had been one of the youngest, promoted to that rank in quite a while. Mostly due to a conflict with a new colony in the Pleiades, but still a great honor. Unfortunately I didn't have any idea what he looked like, other then what was written in his file. For some reason, a picture hadn't been supplied. So I would have to guess when I got there. Granted, most likely he would be in uniform, but I knew that you occasionally had the lax commander at an outpost. And they let anything go. Very unlikely in my case, but still possible. The transport was surprisingly on time and along with one hundred other passengers, we were on our way by 2 PM. My cabin was small, but quiet, which I was thankful for. I needed as much rest as I could get. I did take a few moments to watch us go by Saturn before jumping into hyper space once we left the solar system. My sister was stationed on the small outpost of Saturn with her husband. She was a tech in the engine room. Her husband, a engineer. I settled down in my cabin and caught myself up on the problems with Outpost 59. For almost six months now, the average revenue of the post had dropped by 20 per cent while output remained constant. It didn't make sense unless someone was playing with the books. And with the colonel having a good amount of control over the books, it was extremely plausible he was part of it. It would be bad for the military, but it did happen. I hoped that the colonel knew that there was a problem and was trying to figure it out, because I didn't want to have to deal with a traitor. The flight was fast, and before I knew it, we were docking at the post. I decided then and there I wanted to make an impression on the colonel. I had a feeling he would be at the gate to see who was landing on his post. I dressed in an emerald green, velvet, full body suit. The neckline scooped low to give a nice view of my assets. Dark green, high heeled boots, a wide brown belt with a place for my communicator, and a silver necklace, with my credentials encased in a silver capsule, resting in my cleavage, rounded out the ensemble. I brushed my wavy auburn hair into a cloud around my face and secured a small amount with an emerald clip. Yeah it was a bit dressy for the part I was playing of financial analyst, but I wanted to make a statement. If I could get the colonel to eat out of my hand, I would have it made. I grabbed my bags and satchel, positioned my communicator, and spritzed on a bit of perfume and headed towards the docking gate. My first impression of the outpost was of lots of silver and the most spectacular view of Andromeda. The docking door had opened to a wide window of the galaxy. Then my attention shifted to the man standing at the side of the gate. I knew instantly he was Colonel James McFadden. He was in the standard gray and silver uniform with his rank on his right shoulder. But where as on most men the uniform look liked any other uniform, on the colonel, it accentuated every gorgeous part of him. It was skin tight, showing off his assets marvelously and I couldn't help glancing at his crotch a few times with pleasure. He was muscular and tall, at least six feet, wavy brown hair that curled over his ears, eyes that were a green hazel. There was a very thin line of dark hair the ran around his upper lip and down to meet at his chin. That in turn met the a similar line that ran up to meet both sideburns. Quite a dashing picture. Then his eyes found me, and I felt the hottest gaze I have ever received, run up and down my body. My pulse quickened and I gasped for breath. Maybe this wasn't the best assignment in the world. This man was dangerous and if his gaze was a testament to anything, he knew how to play sexual games I had no idea existed. I squared my shoulders and made my way to meet him. I was going to be working with him in a way, and I figured I should get the introductions over with as soon as possible before I lost anymore nerve. "Colonel McFadden." I held out my hand and he took it warmly. My blood heated another hundred degrees. "I am Claire Jacobsin, your new financial analyst." "Ah, Ms. Jacobsin. It is a pleasure to meet you." I nearly swooned as his deep, dark Irish accent washed over me. Oh lord this was going to be a tough job. "The pleasure is all mine," I gasped out and saw his lush lips smile slightly as his eyes darkened. "Helson." A man in his early twenties snapped to attention at the colonel's side. "Yes sir?" "See Ms. Jacobsin to suite sixteen on level one in the alpha sector." His eyes ran over my face again and he smiled more deeply. "If there is anything you require, Lieutenant Helson will be glad to assist you. Dinner for you will be held in the Perseus room in the same sector as you room. It would please me greatly if you were to dine with me at seven." I just nodded my acceptance and he released my hand. I felt the lieutenant take my two bags and say "Ma'am", but I didn't pay much attention as my gaze was still on the Colonel. He gave me a devilish smile and laughed quietly. "You need to follow the lieutenant, Claire." I snapped out of the trance his eyes seemed to have put me in. My face turned red and I quickly averted my gaze to the lieutenant. "Lead the way, sir," I said with as much confidence I could muster under the circumstance. I started following the lieutenant and heard the colonel's laugh behind me. I forced myself to not turn around and I continued walking. The docking bay was on the bottom of the base, level sixteen. We took a lift to the top of the base, and stepped out onto lush cream carpets and warm neutral walls with small round windows cut out every few feet giving one a glimpse of space. The lighting was muted and warm and as we walked we made no sound except that of our breathing. "Lieutenant?" I asked. "Yes, ma'am?" He answered and turned to look at me. "Is this the normal level all financial analysts live on?" "No ma'am. Most of them and others of that rank are on level three. This is the officers and diplomats level." "Then why am I on it?" Suddenly something didn't feel right. "I am afraid the colonel has taken a fancy to you ma'am, if I might be frank." "I see. Do all of his fancies come to this level?" "No ma'am. You are the first. At least as far as I know. I have worked with the colonel for two years now, and only diplomats or officers have been on this floor." "Did the colonel know I was coming and what I looked like?' "No ma'am. He did know an analyst was coming, but he didn't know what you looked like." "And let me guess. My original room was on the third level until the colonel saw me. Am I right?" "It appears to be that way ma'am." "Mm hmm," I murmured. We had stopped at a door marked with a small symbol of this outpost, and the number sixteen. "Just out of curiosity, where is the colonel's room?" The lieutenant opened the door and ushered me inside. "His room is three doors up. Room thirteen." "I take it he isn't superstitious?" "No ma'am. Now would you like your bags in your room or do you want me to leave them here." I glanced around and just about fell over. This room was the most lavish room I had ever had the ability to grace with my presence. Pale cream carpets again, soft yellow walls, and a mix of cream and yellow sofas and chairs. Elegant Louis XIV tables and chairs were space about. The tables held vases of cream and yellow roses. Most likely replicated, but still beautiful. I walked over to one vase and sniffed. "They are real ma'am." Henson smiled at my surprised expression. "We have a hydroponics lab on level eleven. It is a beautiful place, and you might want to stop off there sometime. Almost all of the outpost's fresh food comes from there." "Amazing," I replied then noticed that he still held my bags. "Oh you can put the bags in my room." "Yes ma'am." I followed him into my bedroom and was astounded again. A large king sized bed, set up on a dias, dominated the room. The bed was a dark walnut four poster with pale blue satin bedding. The room itself was shades of soft blue and silver and there was a faux fireplace with a hologram fire burning. There were small lights about the room giving it a soft glow. And last but not least, a large picture window with a window seat gave a gorgeous view of the galaxy. "I have died and gone to heaven," I sighed. Henson laughed. "Almost everyone says that about this room. It is a favorite. Now, the bathroom is through that door and it is a virtual bathroom. It still functions like a real bathroom, but the running water is a hologram. Amazingly enough, it cleans like water." "Fascinating," I replied. "Tell me, Lieutenant, is it required that I join the colonel for dinner?" "It would be wise ma'am. His version of an order sounds like a request. It would get you on his bad side if you didn't join him." "I see." My eyes narrowed. "And what is the dress code?" "Semi formal to formal. The colonel is always in dress uniform at dinner. His table is number 13 by the large window showing the galaxy. I would recommend not being late." "Mm hmm, very well then. Thank you for bringing my bags." "You're quite welcome, ma'am." And Henson left my room quietly shutting the door behind him. I stared around then decided that since I had a few hours until seven, I would take a long bath. The bathroom was amazing. A large, and I stress the large, claw foot tub was the focal point of the room. The room itself was in a soft blue with cream accents. Another virtual fireplace was against the wall closest to the tub with a huge cream sheep skin rug in front of it. Heaven. Pure Heaven, I thought and ran to my bags to hunt for my hair laser. The bathroom supplied a large selection of some of the most expensive bath accessories in the Solar System. Rare salts from the Neptune seas, blue and green in color, and smelling of crisp apples. Peach bath bombs from Venus, bubbles from the moon Io, sharp and spicy and supposedly quite invigorating. I was almost at a loss at what to choose. I finally decided on the bubbles of Io, a rich cinnamon shampoo from Triton, and a lotion from Venus that was orange scented. Yes, I would probably smell like a pomander, but who cared. I wanted to have fun. I soaked for an hour in the luxurious water and was almost sad I had to get out, but I finally dragged myself out to wrap myself in a thick, fluffy towel and lie down in front of the fireplace. I soaked up the heat that was radiated through the hologram and soon dried. I quickly ran my laser up and down my legs and mound. Then I smoothed the lotion all over and ran to get my dress on. I pulled up sheer cream stockings and secured them to the lacy cream garter belt I wore. I decided then and there to go without underwear, so all I wore was the garter and stockings. My dress was a creamy loose confection styled in the old Grecian way. Very loose with a flowing bodice and the sleeves were thin straps of fabric fastened with small gold disks. Two on each arm. I pulled my hair into a high twist and secured it with plenty of bobby pins. I pulled down a few of the curling tendrils around my face and wrapped a thin cream ribbon around my head twice to give it a more authentic feel. Two gold discs in my ear and a wide, gold, cuff bracelet on my upper arm completed my outfit. I slipped on satin flats and headed out of my room two minutes before seven. Outpost 59 Ch. 02 Thanks goes to my editor, J.Q. Hack. If anyone needs a good one, he is it. Again, no sex in this one, and actually no sex for a few chapters. Sorry. But please take the time to get into it. And please vote. I had to run to the Pegasus room to be there just as the bells rang. I slowed and sedately walked into the dining hall. It was an elegant room with pale blue walls, and the ceiling was draped in a soft blue satin studded with little glints that looked like diamonds. The tables were almost all filled up and I looked around for McFadden. A uniformed waiter came up to me and directed me toward a small alcove near the middle of the back of the room. I made my way over and was rewarded to find the Colonel sitting there with a drink in his hand. He stood and smiled with a predator's glint in his eyes. "Ms. Jacobsin," he said smoothly and bowed slightly, "you look quite ravishing tonight." "Miss Jacobsin, and thank you, sir," I replied raising my left brow. "My apologies, Miss Jacobsin." He came and held out my chair for me to sit down. As he pushed my chair in, he leaned down and gave an appreciative growl of approval and I caught my breath when his hands touched my shoulders. "Quite ravishing, and you smell quite exotic. Had fun with the bubble bath?" I turned quickly to look at him in surprise and my lips brushed his as he had leaned in very close. My eyes widened, but when I didn't pull away, the tip of his tongue touched the entrance to my mouth. When I still didn't move, it demanded more and pushed fully in and the Colonel claimed my mouth in a kiss of total surrender. This was no sweet and soft kiss. This was a kiss that taught me that my master was James McFadden and I was his to do with what he wished. He pressed his mouth firmly to mine and plunged his tongue in and out in a furious pace that mimicked intercourse. I gasped and he pulled away smiling wickedly. "I can just picture what a mouth like that could do," he said, taking his seat again. "You could burn a man up if you just tried." His eyes had darkened considerably and I could see his pulse pounding in his neck. I tried to get my blood to cool down and was forced to take a sip of the ice water that was at my place. I rested the frosty glass to my cheeks to cool them down and heard the Colonel laugh. "I have no definite plans to burn any man at the moment, sir. And I would appreciate if you would keep your distance." I stated this firmly, hoping he would get hint. I wasn't going to give him any inkling that I knew one day I would be in his bed. It was too soon, besides, I wasn't completely sure myself. "I see. Well, if it distance you want, you got it. Next time I kiss you, it will be because you beg me. And believe me, you will beg." He said softly then laughed when I gave him a gasp of outrage, then he proceeded to completely ignore my glare as he signaled a waiter and ordered dinner for both of us. He didn't even glance my direction to see if that was okay with me. I sat fuming for a while, staring out the window, but it wasn't any fun if he was going to disregard it. I turned to look at him and found him watching me with an intenseness that sent a blush right to my cheeks. "I don't see many women blush these days," he said quietly, then he took a sip of wine. "is it because I embarrass you, or is it because you felt what I did when I kissed you?" So much for being vague. This man was to the point as you could ever be. "That depends, what did you feel when you kissed me?" I countered and drank some of my wine also. "Oh now, you're not going to get out of it that easy. I'll admit that it was quite potent, but what did you feel?" I waited to answer as the waiter brought our dinner. I looked down at the plate that was put in front of me and I looked up in surprise. The Colonel had ordered my favorite dish and I hadn't even noticed. Eggplant Parmesan, smothered in a luscious marinara sauce and more parmesan sprinkled on top. The waiter place steaming garlic bread sticks in the middle of the table and he was now filling another goblet with a rich burgundy wine. "Thank you, Evens. Please bring the desert in about a half an hour." "Yes, sir," answered the waiter and left quietly. The Colonel looked at me. "Eat." He ordered. I picked up my fork. "How did you know I like eggplant Parmesan?" "You didn't honestly think I would allow some unknown analyst onto my base without doing some research on you, Agent Jacobsin." His eyes narrowed and gave me a scrutinizing look. "I honestly don't know what you are talking about," I sniffed and took a sip of my wine. "Really? I beg to differ, Claire." He shoved a tablet towards me, my files and information showing all over the page. Pictures of me scanned through in a small box. Pictures from all through my life. Test scores, private information, access codes of mine, account numbers. Everything. Information that would make my life a living hell if in the wrong hands. I looked at it in shock, then looked at him. "How did you find that out?" I gasped. I had gone white with the thought of how I could be in deep trouble if the Colonel was a traitor. " I make a habit of finding out who will be working for me and for some reason, your department did a crappy job of issuing you a new file for this assignment. I was able to have a friend of mine find out who you were within two hours." His look was of pure male arrogance at my department's mistake. "I had nothing to do with getting my profile fixed and I don't see how your friend hacked into the database. I was just supposed to come and do my job." I had no idea what to do now, though. With my secret out in the open, my job could be over. "So now that you know, what am I supposed to do?" He looked at me in surprise. "Keep doing your job, of course. I was actually planning on contacting the Treasury if I couldn't find out what was happening here on the base and having them send me an agent if they could spare one. Obviously they beat me. Granted, it might have been nice if they had told me you were coming." "You weren't supposed to know. I was supposed to be just a new financial analyst." "And may I ask why I wasn't supposed to know?" He had arched his left brow, his drink poised at his lips. I didn't answer. "Claire?" There was warning note in his question. I glanced up and narrowed my eyes. "Why do you think?" If he had any brains in that pretty skull, he wouldn't need me to answer. "They don't honestly think I am involved?" When I didn't answer again, he glared at me. "You have got to be kidding me!? Those idiots! Shit!" He stabbed at his dinner. "They didn't specify who was at fault, but I was supposed to keep a close watch on all you did. This is big. You are losing close to a million a month." I couldn't believe it. Here I was, sharing info that was classified. I swear, you put a drop dead, gorgeous man in front of me and I was spilling everything. I shook my head to clear it. My boss was gonna kill me if he ever found out. And why had the colonel's friend been able to hack into the Treasury? "You don't think I damn well know that?" He glared at me. "Why else would I want to get someone here to find out what is wrong?" "To cover your tracks. Despite your record, perfect as it is, who's to say you wouldn't become consumed with power. And personally, I don't trust you." Which was a lie. What it really was, was I didn't trust myself around him. God, next I would be spouting passwords. His head whipped up at my words, a shocked expression on his gorgeous face. Then his look hardened into a mask that made me want to back up and run. So I did the next best thing. I got up and made a quick curtsy to him. "And on that note, I will say goodnight. Thank you for dinner, and I will be at my post at seven." I turned and walked quickly away, hoping he wouldn't follow me. I wasn't so lucky. "Dammit, Claire!" The Colonel threw down his napkin and jumped up to follow me. He caught up with me quickly and grabbed my right arm as we exited the dinning hall. "Where the hell do you think you're going after that statement?" He was breathing hard and his grip was bruising as I struggled and glared daggers at him. "Let. Me. Go." I ground out through clenched teeth. "I don't think so. We are not done with this conversation. So where do you want to finish it? My quarters or yours?" "Mine." I sighed. There was no way I was going to win this battle. "Lead the way, Colonel," I said sarcastically since he was already practically dragging me. "Jamie," he said in a deadly quiet voice. "What?" "My name is Jamie. I would rather you called me that instead of colonel, sir, or anything else." "I don't think that's a good idea." I jerked my arm out of his grasp as he opened my door and waltzed in and plopped myself on a sofa facing the galaxy. "And why not?" He sat down opposite of me and just raised his left brow. "Because I don't want to become familiar with you. I just want to do my job and go home." "Fine, whatever. Now tell me why you don't trust me." "One, I don't know you, other than what was in your file, which by the way, is seriously lacking and quite vague when it comes to personal information. Two, you're a dangerous man. I sensed that from the moment I met you, and I don't mess around with anybody I find dangerous. It's not safe for my health." "Third?" "I don't have one yet, I'll let you know when I know what it is." I gave him a nervous look, which just seemed to amuse him "I don't buy it one bit. You are an Agent and they are not concerned about those things. It's something else that's bugging you. What?" He gave me a very piercing gaze and I tried not to blush. I didn't succeed. He gave a low throaty laugh and his eyes darkened with pure sexual heat. "I thought so." He got up and slowly stalked towards me. I knew I had a panicked expression on my face. How could I not? I scooted further back into the sofa and trying to edge away at the same time. I didn't make it far at all. He cornered me against the arm of the sofa by bracing his hands on either side of my shoulders. I tipped my head back and looked at his face. His eyes had a hooded look and his mouth was parted as if contemplating kissing. He didn't kiss me though. He just lowered his head until his nose was brushing the underside of my chin. He nuzzled and brushed his lips across my neck coming up to my right ear. Suddenly, he reached out and lightly bit my earlobe. I gasped and from then on, my breathing came out in short pants. I reached out and grabbed the lapels of his dress jacket and held on for dear life as he slowly kissed his way down my neck to my collar-bone, sucking on the skin hard enough to leave a red welt. "Please," I moaned, my head falling back against the arm of the sofa. "Please what?" he rumbled as he nibbled back up my throat. "Jamie, please kiss me," I begged. "As you wish," he murmured as his lips claimed mine. He sipped and stroked, teasing me with little flicks of his tongue against mine. It wasn't nearly enough for me to be satisfied with. I reached my hand up to the back of his head, running my fingers through his satiny soft hair before pulling his head firmly to mine. Now, I was happy. Jamie groaned and pulled me closer as his mouth battled with mine for dominance. At this angle though, he couldn't get close enough. He pulled away for a brief moment, chuckling slightly as I moaned and tried to pull him back. He lifted me up into his arms, sat down in the corner of the sofa, and draped me over his lap so that my head fell back against his shoulder. Then he devoured me "Your mouth is so sweet," he murmured. "I feel as if I could drown in its depths." He sent his tongue swirling into the deep recesses of my mouth then pulled back trying to get me to duel with him. I succumbed to the temptation, My tongue tangling with his in an urgent demand to take what was his. His hand slid to the nape of my neck as he pulled back a bit and lightened the kiss, just nibbling on my bottom lip, lush and swollen from his consuming mouth. Slowly, so as not to alarm me, he ran both his palms down my shoulders to push the material off my upper body. I felt him pull back as the material slid to my waist, though it didn't really register. I slowly registered that Jamie was no longer touching me at all and opened my eyes leisurely, a soft smile on my lips. O glanced down to where his gaze was centered and gasped softly. I tried to remember her dress coming off that much, but couldn't. I went to pull the material to my breasts, but Jamie stopped me by resting his large hands on mine. "But . . ." I started, only to have Jamie kiss me quickly to stop my protests. "Shhh, I want to look at you," he whispered, nipping my bottom lip then soothing it with his tongue. He pulled back again and swept his hands up to cup my upturned breasts, smiling when I whimpered softly. He flicked his thumbs over the dusky, rose centers. Against the creamy softness of my breasts, my nipples rose to tight points that begged for his attention. It was no hardship to answer to their demand. He bent his head and brushed my tight breast with his lips. I openly moaned and pushed the tip into his mouth begging for his touch. Jamie flicked out his tongue and touched just the tip then curled it around the bud until it grew into a tighter point. He pulled the tip deep within his mouth, suckling it while paying attention to the other tip with his fingers, rolling it between his thumb and finger. I closed my eyes, arched my back, head falling back, and mouth open, a long drawn out cry leaving mt lips. I felt Jamie smile against my breast and looked down to see him slowly pull back, the crest leaving his lips on the last instant. The sight sent arousal crashing through me and I had to fight the waves of dizziness that threatened to overwhelm my senses. Jamie looked up and grinned at what I knew was a devastated expression on my face. I felt shattered. In mere moments, this man had brought me to my knees, so to speak, and I knew he held the power to control my body and mind, able to bend them to his will. I scooted back away from him, fear flashing through me and reflecting in my eyes. Jamie saw it and frowned, his eyes glinting. He stood slowly, his eyes never leaving my face. He stepped towards me, and when I scrambled backwards even more he growled and grabbed my arms. "I will not allow you to act afraid of me. You want me just as much as I want you so don't think that running is going to help you. And mark my words, I will have you." When my eyes widened even more, he continued. "No, not tonight, but soon." He bent and kissed me swiftly on the mouth then turned and walked out her door, closing it behind him with a soft click. I heaved in a sigh and slumped on the couch. Had Jamie pressed the issue, I would probably be in bed now with him and I wouldn't have been fighting him. He knew how to render me senseless and it scared me to death to know that he had that much control over me. I glanced down at my naked torso and saw a red imprint on my right breast where he had sucked so hard and left another welt. I would be bruised in the morning. I got up slowly, not bothering to pull my dress back up. I staggered into the bedroom, dropped my dress and slipped out of my shoes. Bed was a heavenly refuge from the outside forces that felt like they were closing in on me. I stared out at the galaxy trying not to dwell on this evening's events. Before I knew it, I was asleep, curled on my side, blankets sheltering me. And I slept like this until I woke, with only a quarter of an hour until I needed to report to work. Outpost 59 Ch. 03 Thanks to my editor J.Q.Hack. This is dedicated to Winn. Just for your complete like of this story. Who knew someone would find it fun. SO thank you for reading. MJ +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* I awoke with a start when the alarm I had set, rang briskly. Alerting me to the fact that I only would have a few moments to get ready and have something to eat before I needed to be at my post when the seven o'clock bell rang. I dragged my tired body out of the soft bed and wearily got dressed in a dark blue body suit, similar to my green one. I pulled my hair into a strict chignon and applied a minimal amount of makeup. I wasn't in the mood to encourage Jamie at all. I was actually dreading having to report to him. Strapping on my belt and communicator, I rushed out the door to the dining hall. I grabbed a piece of toast and a cup of coffee before rushing again to the lift taking me to the fourth level. The door opened and I stepped out quickly. Bumping right into Jamie. I gave a muffled shriek as we collided, my chin hitting his shoulder and my coffee sloshing down the front of his pristine uniform. I gasped and his arms went around me to stop my movement. "Well good morning would have sufficed, sweet," he murmured in my ear, his breath tickling and making me shiver. "I'm so sorry, sir," I muttered and tried to step back. His arms resisted my movement and he brushed my ear with his soft lips. "No harm done, Claire, and you had best stop calling me sir," he warned, giving my neck a kiss. "Well, I had best go change, seeing as now I have this lovely brown stain. I will see you later. Helson is down in your office ready to show you the ropes and I think he has the last five months of accounting pulled for you." Jamie stepped back then moved around me to step into the lift, swatting my backside just before the doors closed. I squeaked and whirled around to slap Jamie's face, but the doors had already shut, leaving me with the echo of his laugh. I stamped my foot and marched off to find Helson. "Good morning Miss Jacobsin, how are you today?" Greeted Lieutenant Helson, looking up from the large pile of paperwork in front of a large communications screen. "Good morning, Helson, I'm fine. Please don't tell me that pile is the list of accounting?" "Afraid so, ma'am. We are quite busy here so there is always too much paperwork." "I see. Well, show me how you communications system works and I will get started." I spent the next hour learning how Outpost 59's system worked and figuring out the order of the files from accounting, surprised that they were in such good order. They were neatly compiled by date and the type of business that had been conducted. Soon I swiftly reviewed list after list of numbers, completely immersed in my work. Jamie popped his head in at some point in the morning asking how it was going. I ignored him, but he didn't press the issue and I was relieved when he left without saying anything else. I had a feeling I wasn't going to find the information that I needed to figure out who was dipping into the Outpost's treasury unless I went into the private files of the Colonel and other higher placed officers. But that wouldn't be easy. Most likely the personal files could only be accessed in the private quarters of anyone I suspected. Though the Outpost's system was secure, they had made it possible for someone to access their own files in their quarters. There was a mainframe, but passwords and security would be much harder to hack there. Quarters were a safer bet. More private. If I was able to hack into the programming files of the system, I might be able to route the information to a communicator in my room. But to have the chance to have the time to get into the system would not be accomplished with Helson and Jamie hovering and checking in on me every ten to twenty minutes. I would need a few hours of privacy, and I doubted I would get it while working. So I bided my time and continued to search the files, hoping that it was just some clerical error, yet knowing it was not. Around the noon hour, I called up Helson to bring me some files pertaining to a slight discrepancy with a certain week. "I will send someone up with those files, ma'am," he replied over the speaker. "Thank you, Helson." I clicked off the speaker, and went back to sifting through numbers when I heard a sound of someone arriving at the door. "Just set the files anywhere you like. I will find them." I said not looking up. The paper was plopped on the desk and a rich voice spoke in turn. "Well, well, well. I never thought I would see you on this outpost, Claire." I whirled around in my chair and stared agape at the gorgeous man that was leaning nonchalantly against the door jamb. "Devon Witherton." I breathed the name out, my whole body tingling. "And who else would it be?" Came the slightly mocking reply. I jumped up and flung my arms around Devon and clung tightly. "How you doing, babe?" he murmured "I'm doing just fine," I whispered, breathing in the smell of just him. Devon Witherton. My first lover. My first with a lot of things. The one man who had known more about me than anyone else. The first man I had ever fallen in love with. The first man to break my heart. We had grown up together, going to the same school, our parents great friends, our lives a part of each other. During my senior year of highschool, Devon, one year older and an ensign in the Outland Army, came home on leave. It was then that we fell in love with each other. We had always been close, but when Devon had come home for Independence Day and the rest of the week, we spent every waking hour with each other. Two days before he had to leave, I gave him my innocence. After that, once I graduated, I decided I was interested in the Treasury Department and applied for their program in the city Devon was in. For two glorious years we were always together. Despite the fact that he was supposed to sleep on his base, most nights he was in my bed. I couldn't have been happier. Then one day Devon had gotten the orders to appear at one of the outposts. Number 28, a base placed outside the Orion Nebula that was having a conflict with another base. Some dispute over space boundaries. At the time, it was a week long trip there. I was devastated and begged him not to go. He told me to not be silly as he needed to do his job. I became angry that he was putting his job before us, as I couldn't leave my job at the time. I told him not to come back if he left me. I didn't see him for two years after that. Oh, he had come back to Earth only two months after leaving, but when he called to talk, I would have nothing to do with him. I held onto that grudge for two years, and it wasn't until my sister's wedding that we saw each other again. We patched our friendship, talked for hours, and came to the conclusion that we had made excellent lovers, but were too much alike to be living together. And that was five years ago. Over the years Devon had been transferred all over the galaxy and local groups, and we didn't keep in contact much except for maybe a deep space holiday greeting. The last time I had seen him was about two years ago when he had been on Earth long enough to go home and visit his parents. I had been home at the same time. "Glad to see me, are you?" Devon gave me one last squeeze and pulled back to look down at me with a smile on his lush lips. "You have no idea. You look good, Dev." And he did, which was honestly nothing new. This guy could have been a god. He was tall, and lean, with this gorgeous blond hair that he now kept slightly long, the jagged edges brushing the collar of his uniform. His blue eyes were the color of the Mediterranean; a crystal blue that you could fall into. An angular face, aristocratic nose and jaw, eyebrows that were slashed across his brow; very English, which was what his ancestors were. He personified an English lord, and at times, he had the arrogance to go along with that. One of his faults had been that he thought that he was one of God's gift to women. But when one is a naive, young girl, this sexual creature had been such a wicked pleasure. "Why thank you, Claire. You look delish as always, although," he brushed a stray curl off my brow, " you do seem a bit on the severe side. What is up with that?" "Don't ask. I was attempting to avoid someone." When he opened his mouth to question further, I stopped him with a raised hand. "Not here. So how long have you been here? Last time we talked you were on the Pleiades base. And why in the world are you here?" "I could ask you the same, except for the Pleiades part. But to answer you question, I have been here about six months, and the reason is due to the influx of trade with some of the other bases. More people are starting to come here so since I dealt well with the conflict during that thing on the Pleiades, Colonel McFadden, my commanding officer, requested I be transferred here. I guess the bigwigs in Washington were impressed as I have now been promoted to major." Dev pointed proudly to the bars printed on his uniform's right arm. "Major?!" I shrieked while jumping forward to fling my arms around his neck again. "Congratulations. I bet your mom is thrilled." "Oh, she was." Devon hugged me firmly again, and just as he was starting to let up, I heard a throat being cleared. I looked over Dev's shoulder to see Jamie glaring at us, his face marred by the scowl, his hands clenched as if willing himself not to start swinging at anything. "And what may I ask is going on here?" Jamie asked, his voice just above a growl. I glared at Jamie, then proceeded to press a kiss to Devon's mouth before he could pull away. Outpost 59 Ch. 04 Okay, to all you loyal fans, few and far between, but loyal still. Here is chapter four, finally. I know, I know, long wait. I am working on chapter five as well and hopefully will have it worked out soon. Enjoy! MJ |-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-| "Witherton!" snapped Jamie, and Devon pulled a fast salute while turning on his heel as he let go of me. "Yes, sir?" "Do you need to be here?" "No, sir." "Then get back to your post. Now." "Yes, sir. "Sorry Claire. We'll talk later." Called Devon over his shoulder as he walked quickly away. "Okay, my quarters at seven." "Major!" Barked Jamie. "Yes, sir." Came the reply. "What the hell was that, Claire? And why may I ask did you kiss him?" Jamie walked up close to me and stood towering over, making me feel very intimidated. "Not that it is any of your business, but . . ." "Oh but it is my business," interrupted Jamie. "I don't need my men getting distracted from their posts just because you make pretty eyes them." "Making pretty eyes? Now wait just one minute you arrogant bastard, but it is none of your damn business if I talk to one of you officers or not. And I wasn't making eyes at him." "Ah, there you are wrong. Everything that pertains to you on this base involves me and is my business. And you were not just talking to him, you kissed him." Jamie's eyes were now narrowed with anger. "Yes I did kiss him, but I wanted to wish my lover a hello." I grinned inwardly at Jamie's tortured look. "What the hell do you mean lover?" He snarled and grabbed my arms, fingers digging in. I cried out in pain, but he didn't release me. "You don't have a lover." "Again, it is not any of your business what I do and don't have, and would you please let me go." This conversation was wearing me out. "No. Major Witherton had best not be your lover, or I will make his life a living hell, as well as yours." With that, Jamie claimed my mouth in a kiss meant to order me about. And sadly enough, I complied to his demands and let him take my mouth in a soul shattering, all consuming kiss. My arms were let go as Jamie wrapped his arms tightly around my waist, one hand sliding down to cup one of my buttocks, then giving it a firm squeeze. I slid my hands slowly up his chest and around his neck, my hands tangling in his hair, my body flush against his and bent back over his arms. Oh god! I felt like I was falling again. The suppressed feelings from the night before came flooding back and I let out a soft moan, his mouth capturing the sound and growling in reply. "God you taste so good, Claire," he murmured as he pulled back. He nuzzled the arch of my neck and held me even closer. I felt him sigh and I wondered at this amazing attachment he seemed to have for me. We had known each other less than twenty four hours and here he was making love to me in the simplest of ways. Yet they were some of the most shattering to my emotional well being and mental stability. I felt like I had no will when I was in his presence and that he would command me to his every wish if I complied vocally. He had no idea how close I was to giving in. Oh, he was an arrogant bastard. That was undeniable, and I am sure he knew it, but at the same time, here was a man that wasn't afraid to take what he wanted. I wanted him madly, but I also didn't want him to think he had the upper hand. Although I was starting to feel that I had obviously given it to him with me falling into his arms whenever he grabbed me and kissed me. I knew I wouldn't be able to last much longer with the physical assault on my senses. At this rate, I would be in his bed by the time the next day passed. It was pure torture to my body to slowly push him away when he continued to hold me and nibble my neck. I tingled all over and as I hadn't pushed him forcibly away, he let me go. I breathed deeply to compose myself. Jamie gave me a careful look. "Would you please answer my question about Major Witherton?" When I nodded he repeated the query as to whether or not the major was my lover. "At one time he was, now he is a good friend." I looked at the Colonel warily. "But I cherish him deeply, so I know that if I ever needed anything, including companionship, he would be the one I could go to, and if there was no one else, I would." Which was completely true. I still loved him. Not the way I had back when I was young, but more as a person I trusted completely. One that I knew would take care of me if I let him or needed him too. It was a trust I knew I would go to if Jamie hurt me, and for one brief moment I saw the look of understanding and acceptance that of what I said. "I won't hurt you Claire." The Colonel made a very brash and bold statement considering the whole situation. " You can't guarantee that, but for now I will take you at your word. I still won't go along with you ordering me about though. As it is, I could have your ass wiping the floor considering your deliberate ignoring of Section 433 of the code of ethics. You know the one about higher authority and sexual harassment." I gave him a haughty look. "Oh come off your high horse, Claire. You know that only works if the victim isn't willing, and considering you practically groped me, it wouldn't fly in any court." For once I laughed. "Nope, it wouldn't work, but I am not going to be some toy of yours and I am certainly not going to fall all over you and concede to every wish you set forth with me. If anything, you are on a pretty high horse thinking I will just jump into bed with you." A muscle ticked in Jamie's jaw as he glared at me, and I knew he didn't like what I was saying. Finally he sighed and slumped his shoulders slightly. "Fine. But," he stepped close to me, towering over me, his smell permeating my nose, " that doesn't mean I won't try." I looked up at him. "Fair enough?" "Well, at least you've given me fair warning this time," I gasped out. He was just too darn close to make breathing easy. "Good." And he grabbed me around the waist again and pressed his full open lips to mine. Hell. Oh well, if I was going to go out, I might as well go out with a bang. I wrapped my arms around his neck and slid one long leg up his thigh to rest near his hip. And I gave a little moan. Might as well make it worth my while. This was too good to resist. I already knew he wanted me. Maybe I needed to make him want me even more. The kiss lasted for what seemed forever and for once he was the one to pull away. "I think I had best get back to doing something," he wheezed and stepped back. He turned sharply and I saw him weaving off like a drunken man. I laughed quietly and sank into my seat to let out a huge sigh. Seeing a loose sheaf of paper, I fanned my flaming cheeks and stared dreamily off into the distance, which was pretty much the wall of the office. What a rush. So that was what it was like to hold the power. I liked it. Oh did I like it. With Devon, I had molded to his demands. Not that I hadn't liked them, but wow was it nice to make someone else feel disoriented. At least I knew now that if I stepped up the passionate side of things, I might have more control than I thought. Hmm, maybe that was what I needed to get myself where I could access the personal files. If I played my cards right, I could get the Colonel's private password, or passwords and have a field day with the system. Well, there was only one way to find out. I would have to be my most alluring self that I could be. Anything to keep him guessing and wanting more. Anything to say that I wanted him and I was going to have him, but only on my terms. Was I nuts? Possibly. Considering I had never seduced a man, I was a little out of my league. But when one is out of their league, there was only one answer. Get help from someone who knew a whole lot more. Devon. I guess tonight was going to be more than just catching up. I smiled giddily at the thought and jumped back into my work, flying through papers and waiting anxiously for the time I got off. When lunchtime came around I declined Helson's offer to eat with him in the mess hall and instead ordered something into my office so that I could have some peace and quiet to look over the list of things available to have sent up from the kitchen to one's quarters. I wanted to enjoy the evening with Devon without having to eat where there was a possibility of Jamie butting in. Sometime around mid-afternoon, Jamie came back for a few moments to ask if I would have dinner with him in his quarters. I declined as graciously as I could without giving too much information. Jamie wasn't happy at all and he left with a scowl marring his features. Even that looked sexy on him though. I sighed and decided to ignore the petulance he had exuded. Sometimes men acted like spoiled little boys. It was utterly annoying. The rest of the afternoon was a blur as I sifted through files, finding just a few errors in some of the monies, but nothing that was crucial. As I stacked the last of the files for the night, I arched my back and heard it crack. I needed a long soak in the tub before Devon came. I dragged myself out of my chair and headed out of the office, clicking off the light. Jamie was waiting for me, a smile on his face as he caught my arm and pulled me close. I was too weary to resist, and I found myself snuggled against his warm chest. "Did we wear you out, Claire?" He rumbled into my ear. I nodded and sighed, snuggling closer. He felt just to darn good and it felt good to have someone hold me up. He wrapped his arms around me and gave me one of the nicest hugs I could have received in a while. "Can I walk you back to your quarters?" "Yeah. I would like that," I answered. He gathered the files I was carrying and a stack of tablets as well, leaving my arms free for once. The walk back to my room was quiet, with just the comfortableness of being together. When we got to my quarters, he didn't bug me to come in and left me inside the door with just a light kiss before he turned down the hall to enter his room. I was surprised, but knew it was wisest to just leave it alone. I closed the door and fell onto one of the sofas to just relax for a while before I took a soak in the tub and got into something more comfortable when Devon came.
