Carrie exclaimed as she and her friend William left their math class and headed for their lockers. "Two more weeks and we're out of here until Graduation," William reminded everyone. He grinned at a tall, beautiful young woman. "Hey Lee," he murmured. "Ready for break?" "I can't wait," Lee answered. "We're still going to the lake, right?" Carrie's boyfriend asked. "Dad confirmed the rental yesterday," Carrie confirmed. "Ty, how'd you do on your history exam?" Kylie asked. "I think I passed thanks to your tutoring," Ty answered. "Good," Kylie said with a grin. "Hey Lee, let's go out tonight," William suggested as they walked to his car. "Yeah, we can double," Tyler chimed in. Kylie looked back as Carrie squealed and laughed when she saw Tyler tickling Carrie. "I can't tonight. My dad is making me stay home, something about wanting to impress his boss," Kylie said with a sigh. "Call him," William suggested. Kylie pulled her cellphone out of her backpack and dialed her father's work number. "Stephen Monroe," a gravely voice answered the phone. "Hi daddy. Billy asked if we could go out tonight. We'll be with Carrie and Ty, so you don't have to worry about us being alone. I know you want to impress your boss, but I really don't need to be there for you to impress your boss and ..." "Slow down Kylie. You're right, I don't need you there to impress my boss. You and William can go out to dinner, and if you guys want to be alone, you're eighteen as of twenty minutes ago," her father said with a laugh. "Thanks daddy!" Kylie exclaimed, snapping her phone shut. "I take it you can come," William said with a laugh. Kylie nodded. "And he reminded me that I was born eighteen years and twenty minutes ago," Kylie said with a grin. "And as much fun as a double date sounds, we're gonna pass tonight," William told Tyler. He laughed and glanced at Carrie. "Have fun guys," Tyler said, grabbing Carrie's hand and running for the parking lot. "Wow Billy, look at this place! How can you afford it?" Kylie asked, her eyes wide as she looked around the fancy restaurant. "I wanted to take you some place special for your birthday so I saved up," William told her. Kylie smiled. "It's perfect," Kylie said as they were led back to their table. They made small talk during dinner; Kylie couldn't get past the feeling that he was holding something back and after dinner, he drove through the back roads to Half Moon Lake. They parked and walked barefoot on the beach, a thick blanket draped over William's arm. "It's getting chilly," Kylie murmured, rubbing her arms. William slid out of his jacket and placed it gently over her shoulders. "You didn't have to do that, now you'll get cold!" Kylie said. "Nope. I have you to warm me up," William said with a grin. He put his arms around her and held her close. He kissed her hard before pulling away. "Before we get carried away, I have to ask you something," William said, reaching into the jacket pocket, brushing the side of her breast as he pulled out a small velvet bag. "What are you up to now?" Kylie wanted to know. He gave her a heart melting grin as he pulled the little bag open and took her hands in his. "I love you Kylie Amber Monroe. The two years that we've been together have been the happiest years of my life. I don't want to imagine my life without you." His eyes met hers and they both swallowed hard. He held up the ring by the bottom of the band. "Will you marry me?" he asked. Kylie gasped when she saw the ring, it was beautiful. The band was sterling silver with a large, oval shaped diamond in the center with opals all around it. He waited, holding his breath as Kylie's eyes met his, her eyes were wide with surprise and full of tears. "Oh Billy," she whispered. His heart nearly stopped as she threw her arms around his neck. "I'll marry you, I love you too," she cried. William let out the breath he had been holding and shakily slid the ring onto her ring finger. "Happy birthday," William said with a shaky laugh. Before she could say anything else, he pressed his lips to hers and kissed her, pushing his tongue past her slightly parted lips. She moaned as his tongue danced with hers. Before either of them had thought about it, their clothing was piled up at the edge of the blanket and William was thrusting into her. She cried out in pain as he busted through her hymen and he held himself perfectly still. "Billy, please," she whimpered, pushing her hips up towards his. William groaned and began thrusting hard and fast, unable to stop and saver it like he wanted to. Kylie moaned and whimpered and cried out as the sensations took over her body. "I love you," Billy groaned. Kylie started to reply when she gasped and moaned loudly as she came. She could feel his seed start to shoot into her. "No!" her mind screamed. Suddenly, his ejaculation stopped and they looked at each other in surprise. "It's okay Lee, you won't get pregnant, I'm wearing protection," William whispered into her ear. All final protests faded from her mind and she moaned feeling the latex swell with the introduction of his fluid. They pulled apart and stared at each other in surprise over what had happened. "How did you do that?" William wanted to know. "I don't know," Kylie said. "Come on, lets go for a swim!" she exclaimed, jumping up and running into the still cold lake. "You're going to freeze to death," William warned. "So warm me up," Kylie teased. William laughed and followed her into the water. "Holy hell it's like swimming in ice cubes," he groaned. Kylie giggled and swam over to him, wrapped her arms around his neck and clung to him. "Kylie, I swear to God, you're insane," he groaned. "But that's why you love me," she said sweetly. They played around in the frigid water for nearly an hour until William said, "Okay Lee, we gotta get out of the water, my nuts are about to freeze off." Kylie burst out laughing but followed William to shore. "Ouch!" Kylie exclaimed. She hobbled onto the beach and sat down on the blanket. William looked at her foot carefully. "You stepped on a shell, its pretty deep," he murmured. He probed it gently with his thumb and his eyes widened as the cut started knitting back together. "What the hell is going on?" William wanted to know. "I don't know," Kylie murmured. "Does it still hurt?" William asked. Kylie shook her head. He handed her a towel and they dried off and pulled their clothes on. CHAPTER TWO "How was your weekend?" Tyler asked, dropping to a chair next to William. "Weird," William answered. He glanced around to make sure that nobody could hear him. "We were at Half Moon Lake Friday night and Kylie got this crazy idea about going swimming. She cut her foot on a shell," William said. "Is she okay?" Tyler wanted to know. "Yeah, when I went to see how bad it was, the minute my thumb touched the bottom of her foot, the cut healed," William answered. "Weird," Tyler agreed. "Hey guys!" Kylie said cheerfully, sitting on the chair next to William. "You look happy," Tyler commented. Kylie grinned but said nothing, she just took a bite of her chicken patty sandwich. When Carrie made it from the lunch line, Kylie couldn't hide it anymore and shoved her hand into the center of the table. Carrie paused, her burger half way to her mouth and shrieked. "That must have been some weekend," Tyler said with a grin. William laughed and Kylie blushed. "I'm so happy for you!" Carrie exclaimed, giving her friend a big hug. "Okay, now back to the you healing Lee's foot by touching it," Tyler said. "It was weird," Kylie agreed. "Have you guys experienced anything like that?" William asked. "I was able to sense when Ty and his step father had a huge blow out the other day. I got to his house at the same time he stormed out, before he even got his phone out to call me," Carrie said. "And I moved my baseball from my bookshelf to the computer stand while I was in the kitchen," Tyler admitted. "This is really weird," Kylie murmured. The bell rang symbolizing the end of lunch and the four friends stood up. "I'll see you after class," William promised Kylie. ~~~~~~~~ "Have you seen Ty?" Carrie asked William and Kylie. "No, I thought he was with you," Kylie murmured. "I haven't seen him since last night. He was supposed to meet me here," Carrie said. "Weird," William muttered. The three of them waited for Tyler who showed up at the last minute. "Figures you'd be nearly late to graduation," Carrie teased. "He'd be late to his own funeral if he wasn't being driven by the undertaker," Kylie teased. "I had a bad night guys, back off," Tyler grumbled. "Did you have another fight with your step dad?" Carrie asked. "Something like that," he grumbled. The graduation ceremony went on without a hitch and the four friends went to a Chinese restaurant to celebrate. "Ready to head up to the house?" Carrie asked. "Hell yeah!" Kylie and Tyler exclaimed. William just grinned and pulled Kylie to him. "I'm ready to get away from our parents for a few weeks," William murmured. Kylie blushed and backhanded Tyler's chest as he made a lewd catcall. "Seriously, you guys should be careful," Carrie warned her friend. "You'll screw up your college dreams," she added. Kylie blushed again. "Thanks mom," William teased. "Nice," William complimented from the doorway of the bedroom. Kylie jumped and turned around. "Me or the room?" Kylie asked. "You," William said, walking into the room and closing the door. "I hope you didn't have plans," he murmured, pulling her to him. "I wouldn't knock if I were you," Tyler warned. "Why not?" Carrie turned around. A loud moan came from the bedroom and she grinned. "Never mind," she said. ~~~~~~~~~ "I don't want to go home," Kylie murmured. "I know, neither do I," William said as they walked hand in hand on the beach. An ear-piercing scream cut through the air and they both looked up. "Oh my God, Billy!" Kylie exclaimed. About twenty feet in front of them was a bulldog with a small child's arm caught in its teeth. They ran up to the child and tried to get the dog to let go. Kylie waved her hands and the dog and child stopped moving. She glanced at William. "Pull the dog's mouth open Lee," William said softly. Kylie pulled at the dog's upper gum. "I can't," she told him. "Here, let me," Tyler said, coming to a stop behind her. He concentrated on thinking, "Open your mouth dog." Kylie and William watched in amazement as the dog's mouth came open. Kylie waved her hands around again and the dog and child began moving again. The little girl was crying, her eyes wide and her mother was screaming for help. Tyler glanced around and saw a jump rope on the ground next to the girl. Kylie grinned at Tyler in appreciation as he thought about the jump rope being around the dog's muzzle. "What's your name sweetie?" William asked gently. "Sara," the girl whimpered. "Sara, my name is Will. I'm not going to hurt you, let me see your arm," William murmured. Kylie and Carrie turned to comfort the mother and they watched William heal the girl's arm. "How did you do that?" the girl's mother asked in awe. "I don't know," William said honestly as paramedics hurried over. He hadn't completely healed the arm but it wasn't gushing as much blood as it had been before. "I got pictures, for your court case," Carrie said gently to the girl's mother. She surrendered the flash drive to the police officer when he asked for it. "Is there anyway I could get it back after you get the pictures of Sara's arm? There are vacation photos I would like to have," Carrie asked the officer. "Sure thing miss. Just come by the station in an hour or so," the officer told her. -3 months later- "William?" Kylie called as she walked into the apartment they had rented. She gasped when she saw the apartment was trashed. "Billy!" she shouted, searching the apartment, becoming more and more afraid as she saw the things trashed. Kylie pulled her cell phone out of her pocket and dialed 9-1-1. "Lee!" Tyler shouted, walking to the front of the building. "He's gone Ty! He isn't here and the apartment is trashed," Kylie said softly. He pulled her in for a hug. "I found him Lee!" Carrie exclaimed. "Where is he, is he okay?" Kylie wanted to know. "He's alive, I can feel his fear," Carrie said. Tears filled Kylie's eyes. "We'll get him back," Carrie promised. Tyler nodded and gave his friend a tight hug. "We'll get him back," he echoed. ~~~~~~~~ "Are you sure we're close?" Kylie asked as they crouched behind a large boulder. "He's just inside that compound," Carrie confirmed. "I'll go with you," Tyler volunteered. "No. You guys can't do anything to defend yourselves, I'll go alone," Kylie said. "Kylie, you can't do this alone," Carrie told her. "I'll be fine," Kylie promised. She gave her friends a brave smile and headed for the compound. "Welcome my dear," a booming voice echoed from the back of the room. "Who are you and where is Billy?" Kylie demanded to know. "That is for me to know, and you to find out if you cooperate," he told her. Kylie looked around as she was surrounded by men wearing masks. "Let her go!" William exclaimed, fighting his restraints. He thought his heart was going to explode as he watched Kylie being tortured and the masked man draining energy from Kylie's body just a few feet in front of him. "What will you do for me if I let her go?" the man taunted. "Anything!" William shouted. He ached to go to her, to help her. "Anything?" the man asked. William nodded. "I noticed from the newspaper article and the interview on NBC that you have the power to heal," the man began. "Yes, I've already admitted to that," William growled. "What if I told you that you had a different power, a hidden power that you don't know about yet?" the man asked. "So what? Just let her go!" William shouted. "I want you to leave, go some place where running into Kylie won't be likely. I will have men watching you. When you figure out what your new power is, you need to come back to me, my men will tell you where for me to train you in using your new power. Then, you will do anything I ask with that power," the man said. "Fine! Just let her go!" William pleaded. The man snapped his fingers and the restraints were cut away. "Take her and go. You have three days to leave. If you don't, I'll kill her," the man told William. William rubbed his wrists and hurried over to where Kylie lay. "Lee, wake up," he murmured, feeling for a pulse. His heart raced when he could hardly feel it. "C'mon beautiful," William said softly, scooping her into his arms. He cradled her against him as he made his way out of the compound. ~~~~~~~~ "Is she going to be okay?" William asked as the doctor joined them in the hall. "Miss Monroe is going to be fine, but I'm afraid that the stress and trauma that she endured caused a miscarriage," the doctor told William. His eyes widened and he glanced at Carrie and Tyler who wore not as surprised looks on her face. "How far along was she and was it possible for her to have known?" William asked. "It appears that she was only about six weeks pregnant and it's possible that she did not know about the baby. I'm sorry," the doctor answered. "You can go see her," he added before walking away. "Lee?" William murmured, sitting down in the chair at the side of her bed. "Are you okay?" Kylie asked sleepily. "I should be asking you that," William said with a small smile. "What in the world were you thinking?" he wanted to know. "I wanted to save you," Kylie murmured. "I feel like I got hit by a bus," she groaned. William took her hand in hers and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "He drained almost all of your power Lee, he nearly killed you," William told her. "I'm sorry," she said weakly. "It's okay beautiful," William murmured. He kissed her and held her. "Lee, I have to ask you something." Kylie looked up at him. "Did you know you were pregnant?" he asked gently. Kylie looked at him in surprise. "Were?" she whispered. "The power drain, the trauma to your system," William shook his head, he couldn't finish his sentence and he didn't have to, a look of comprehension crossed her face. "I, Billy, I ..." William pulled her in for a hug. "It's okay," he soothed. He held her while she cried and hated the fact that he knew she would be crying again for a different reason soon. He held her until a nurse knocked on the door. "I'm sorry sir, you need to leave now, she needs to rest," the nurse told him gently. William nodded. "Please stay," Kylie pleaded. William kissed her gently. "I love you Lee, no matter what happens, remember that I love you," William told her. "I love you too," Kylie said. William smiled, wiped the tears off of her cheek and kissed her again. ~~~~~~~ "Lee, this came for you," Carrie said, dropping a letter on Kylie's bed. Kylie, I know this isn't going to make sense to you, but I didn't want to leave you, I had to. The maniac that nearly killed you told me that if I stayed with you, he'd kill you. I couldn't live with that. I wish I could be there with you, especially now with the loss of our baby. I promise you, when I'm strong enough to keep you safe, I'll be back. Please believe me when I say that I love you because I love you more than life itself. Take care of yourself. I hope you wait for me, but if you fall in love with someone else, I understand and I'll respect that. Be safe, be well and please forgive me. All my love is for you. William
