She was made fun of for her clothes, made fun of for her weight, made fun of because her family didn't have much money. All the kids laughed at her and made fun of her behind her back. When she was a little older, they teased her to her face. What the children didn't know was that she had a terrible life at home, and school was where she could go to get away from that; but things away from home were just as bad. When she was in high school, she had only a few friends, and they were just as much of an outcast as she was. They didn't really like each other, but they knew they had to stick together. The girl was depressed because she was still different, and didn't know how to break away from that. She was bright, and really, she could have been pretty, but no one showed her how to do her hair or make up, or how to dress nice. One day, right before Christmas, she was so depressed she thought of taking her own life. And something magical happened. She heard God's voice. She heard His voice in her heart, and it said to not be discouraged; she had a purpose on this earth. That He would not have put her there if it wasn't for a reason. He told her to be strong, have faith, and that everything would work out. He made her in His image, and to Him, she was perfect. That day, that girl's life was turned around. She waited until after Christmas, and she left. She left that mean old home, and she got a job at a little restaurant, and the owners let her live with them. The woman was nice, and she taught the girl how to put on make up, how to dress to make herself look nice, and took her to get her first real hair cut. The little 'family' attended church each Sunday, and each day, under the loving care of the couple, the girl grew brighter. She was even pretty. She came out of her shell, and she blossomed, like the ugly duckling turning into the beautiful swan. You know the story of Rudolph, right? He got made fun of because of his red nose. He was a miserable little reindeer, wasn't he? That little girl always loved that song, because she felt like she had something in common with the little deer. Santa didn't make fun of him. Oh no. Santa needed him, didn't he? He saw Rudolph the way that God sees us, through the eyes of love. And really, that's what Christmas is about. Love." "Is that story about you, Miss Eve?" A voice asked. "Yes it is." Eve smiled. "Wow. I didn't know you had such a hard time. You're so pretty!" Another voice said. "Thank you. True beauty is on the inside, and so many times people don't take the time to get to know someone's insides. It's very important to practice love and tolerance. You can't be mean and hateful to someone because they are different. That's a very important lesson that everyone needs to learn." Eve stood, and her high heels clacked on the wood floor as she went to the chalkboard. "What's our homework?" Another voice asked. "You are to do a good deed a day until next week. I would like for everyone to keep a journal of sorts, where you outline the situation and what it was you did for the person. It can be the same person, or different people. Then I want you to write how it made you feel to do something nice." The buzzer went off, signaling the end of Sunday school and study group. "You guys have a great week, and I'll see you all same time, same place next Sunday!" A chorus of 'You too's drifted from the study group as the children exited the room. Eve breathed a sigh of relief. She loved helping out at the church, she truly did, but Christmas was always a bittersweet time for her. Only one week left. Next Sunday was the day after Christmas, then they could move on with the rest of the year. Eve smoothed her blouse and fluffed her dark hair away from her face as she straightened up the room, putting her supplies back in the storage tote. She usually stayed for the service, but she needed to get shopping done since she wouldn't have much time through the week. She flipped off the lights and hefted the tote and made her way up the stairs. The pastor's voice traveled easily, and she listened for a moment at the top of the steps. She really did hate to miss it. With a sigh, she shouldered the door open and crunched her way across the gravel parking lot. The rest of the day passed slowly. Eve pretty much finished off her shopping, and she had grabbed a bite to eat at a fast food drive thru. For some reason, her heart just wasn't in it much this year. She was in a funk. She needed to rediscover the true meaning of Christmas for herself, not just teach it on Sundays. But how? Short of a visit from the spirits of Christmas past, she was out of ideas. Her phone started ringing in her purse, and she reached over and dug it out. It was Joel, her boyfriend of a little less than a year. "Hello." "Hi beautiful. How was your day?" "Got my shopping done for the most part. Heading home now. How was yours?" Joel was active in the church also- he held a men's group meeting two nights a week. So he had spent most of his day at the church since the men's group met an hour before evening service on Sundays. Joel began rattling on about the wonder of Christmas time and how it brings out the best in people. The aura of giving that surrounds most people; the breath of good cheer, the words of kindness on everyone's lips. Then he said something Eve thought to be pretty profound. "I think a man is, at Christmastime, what God meant for man to be all year long." "Joel, I think you're absolutely right. It sounds like you had a good day. I'm sorry to have had to miss it." Eve thought that maybe she should have spent some time with God today. Maybe He would give her some answers. But it seemed Joel was speaking what she needed to hear... so maybe God was using him as a messenger. "We missed you. But I'm happy to report that your kids ran around trying to do good deeds for people. One in particular that isn't even in your class," Joel chuckled. "You're doing something right in that basement." That did bring a smile to Eve's face. "Oh, I'm so glad. I just want them to have a.. well, a sort of respect for the season. I hope I'm being effective." "Honey, I think what you're teaching them will far surpass just doing good at Christmastime." "I hope so. Joel, do you want to come over for dinner?" "I'd love to. When will you be home?" "I'm about five minutes away right now. If you want, you can come now and help me carry stuff in. But no peeking!" Eve laughed. "I can't promise that, but I will come help. See you soon, sweetheart." They hung up, and Eve felt much lighter in her soul. Joel was good for her- she knew that. He could brighten her day without lifting a finger. They were pretty serious, but true to their religious outlook, they hadn't slept together yet. He'd never even spent the night at her house. Eve was struggling with that a little. They were true to each other, they loved each other, but they weren't married so that made sex wrong. Eve couldn't wrap her mind around that. She had been getting the feeling lately that Joel was thinking along that same lines as she was, but she couldn't be sure. It wasn't really something they talked about. Maybe that was part of her funk. She craved closeness and intimacy with another person, but she had been taught for years it was 'wrong'. She wasn't a virgin, but she didn't have much experience either. But before she hadn't been in love; it was literally just sex, and it hadn't lasted long. And on the flipside of craving intimacy, she was waging a battle in her head with God and right and wrong. She gave her head a shake to clear it as she turned into her driveway. Joel was already there, leaning against the side of his car. Immediately her cares were washed away, and a smile graced her lips. Everything would work itself out. She knew it. Joel carried everything in, promising he didn't peek as Eve got started on dinner. She threw steaks in to broil, tossed a salad together and made dressing, then popped a couple potatoes in the microwave. Joel had stashed her purchases in her bedroom, and was carrying in her tote as she walked to the bedroom to change. Joel started talking as Eve gathered her pajama pants and tank top. She stood there, wanting out of her church clothes that she'd been wearing for eleven hours, but she didn't want to interrupt him. Her mind wandered. What would he do if she started undressing? Would he take her into his arms and ravish her? Or would he leave the room? Eve looked him over as he talked. His blue eyes sparkled with happiness from his tale, and he shoved his hair off his face as he explained a situation about one of the members from the church. He really was attractive. Well built, muscled but lean, those blue eyes, and his light brown hair that turned slightly blonde in the summer. Good jaw, good nose, and lips that were almost too pretty for a man. "Joel?" "And Mark told- what?" "I'd like to change. Would you like to watch?" Eve bit her lip after she asked, not sure what prompted her to say such a thing. "Er.. Um. Eve.. I don't know.." Joel stuttered. He wanted to, more than anything, but it wasn't right... was it? "I've been thinking, and I want you to think too." Eve took a deep breath. Might as well get his mind on the same dirty track hers was on. "I know sex is supposed to be between a man and his wife, but we've been together for almost a year. Surely it can't be bad, can it? I've been struggling with this for a while. I love you, Joel. And I want to make love to you. But I need you on board. So you don't have to say yes or no today, but I want you to start thinking about it, all right?" Joel's eyes had gone wide as she spoke, and in that moment she thought he looked more like a little boy than a man of twenty-eight. She felt more like a teenager than a woman of twenty-six at that rate. "I'll think about it." Joel's breathing had become ragged. Eve's eyes narrowed. Was he nervous? Or was he excited? "So. Do you want to watch me change?" Eve felt a blush stain her cheeks. "I do." Joel's throat convulsed as he swallowed. Hard. Eve was more than a little hesitant at her brilliant idea. She was still a little on the heavy side, she didn't have the body of a supermodel, and she was pretty self-conscious. Obviously her size didn't matter to Joel, or he wouldn't be dating her, but still... Eve took a deep breath and unbuttoned and unzipped her dress pants. Joel's mind was reeling. He had no idea that Eve had been feeling the exact same way he had. He had longed to take her in his arms and take her to bed, but he thought he was sinning, same as if he was actually doing it. But her words had merit. Could it be wrong, if they loved each other? If they were faithful to each other? He took a deep breath to try and calm himself down as he watched her peel her slacks down her legs. She kicked them to the side, and then grabbed the hem of her shirt and slowly pulled it over her head. She wasn't stick thin by any means, but his mouth watered as her curves were revealed to him. Her ample hips led into the dip of her waist, and her breasts stood out in front of her as she reached behind her back to unfasten her bra. Her nipples were hard, poking through the satiny material, and he could make out the outline of the color difference. He didn't know if he was in heaven or hell. Eve let her bra drop to the floor, and stood there for a moment, feeling goose bumps raise on her skin. The room was chilly, and she was all but naked. Joel's eyes traveled from the tips of her toes to the top of her head. He saw the uncertainty there, she knew, for she could feel in on her like a mask. The blush that had been on her cheeks had made its way down her neck, and she had the urge to cover herself. Joel saw that she was scared- no, more like terrified. He was pretty sure she was afraid of his rejection, and maybe it was more than that. Maybe she was scared that she was doing something wrong. He had been aroused since her mouth opened and she offered to let him watch. He couldn't let her think he didn't like it, but he didn't want things to go too far.. But he couldn't hold back any more. Joel took the few steps to close the distance between them, and he wrapped his arms around her. Eve's eyes had dropped from his as he walked, and he used a thumb to tip her head up, forcing her to look at him. "You are beautiful." He said simply. Unexpected tears sprung to her eyes, and she gasped as he caught her lips with his own. They had kissed before, and sometimes done a little more than kiss, but always through their clothes. The feel of his hand caressing the bare skin of her back, coupled with the feel of her nipples against the fabric of his sweater was divine. Joel's tongue dipped into her mouth, and her lips parted allowing her tongue to welcome his. Eve wrapped her arms around his neck, and he pulled her tighter, crushing her to his chest. Joel slid his hand inside her panties and cupped her ass, pulling her into him. She gasped as she felt his cock pressing against her belly. She could have sighed with relief. He wanted her. He found her attractive. Tears once again dampened her eyes, but they didn't slip free. Joel held her close, reveling in the feel of her against him, enjoying the softness of her skin and the way her curves melded into the hard planes of his body. Their tongues danced together, and Joel never wanted to let her go. Eve moaned in her throat, and it was almost his undoing. It was amazing how fast he could forget himself and he growled, thinking of what it would feel like to plunge inside of her wet heat. Eve's eyes popped open as Joel set her away from him. "Please put your clothes on, or we won't be thinking about anything." Joel's breath came in gasps to match hers. "You're probably right." Eve was disappointed. But she knew the wisdom of his words. It was something they both needed to do some soul searching about. "You're even more beautiful than I'd imagined." Joel grinned at her. "I can't believe I did that." Eve's blush was back. "I'm glad you did. And you're sexy as can be when you blush." Joel dropped a kiss to her forehead and left the room. Eve slumped against the dresser. She couldn't believe she'd been so brazen! On the other hand, she hoped it worked. She pulled her pajamas on quickly and went to join Joel. He had pulled the potatoes out and wrapped them in foil to keep them warm, and had just slid the steaks back in the broiler. "They need a few more minutes." "That's fine. I figured they did." Eve got the butter and sour cream out of the fridge and set the table. The whole time she moved around the kitchen, she could feel Joel's eyes on her. She lit the candle in the center of the table and turned around to put the matches back in the drawer. She didn't make it. Joel was right in front of her, and he swooped her into his arms, and his mouth crashed down on hers. The matches slipped from her fingers and her arms came up to wrap around his neck again. His tongue dove into her mouth and Eve whimpered, clinging to him for dear life. His thigh nudged between her legs, and she gasped into his kiss as he pressed against her most intimate place. Joel shoved his hands into her hair and held her tight as his mouth claimed her. She knew in her heart that she was his. Only his. Just as abruptly as it began, Joel set her away again. "This is dangerous." Eve laughed. "I'm serious." "What's wrong, you got the hots for a Sunday school teacher?" Eve hid her smile behind her hand. "Madam, this is certainly no laughing matter." "Oh but it is. I had no idea you were so... so... hot blooded." She erupted into a fit of giggles, her nervous energy begging for release. Joel stalked towards her with his jaw set. Eve laughed harder. "Did I wake the beast?" "You have no idea." "Joel, I'm sorry. I'm just a bundle of nervous energy. Forgive me." Her grin belied her words. "You're about five seconds away from becoming the main course, so I suggest you behave yourself. We're going to eat dinner, and I am leaving. It's not safe. We have to think." Eve's smile softened. She lifted one hand and cupped his cheek, letting her thumb brush across his bottom lip. Joel turned his face and kissed her palm. "I appreciate you holding back. I really am sorry I was teasing you. And the last thing I wanted to do was put you in a faith crisis," Eve smothered another laugh. "But I was debating the spirit of Christmas all day, and I was actually pretty down in the dumps. Then you called. You brighten my world, Joel. And I love you. And I just can't help but think that true of a love can't be wrong." "I love you too." Joel smiled, and could think of nothing else to say. The rest of the week passed in a flurry of activity. Eve worked, then came home to make dinner for herself and Joel. Then they would wrap presents in between batches of cookies and other assorted goodies. She had to stay up late after he left to wrap his, so by the time Christmas eve arrived, Eve was ready to be done with the holiday. She was exhausted. Joel had made the week bearable with her memories, and she even shared some more of her childhood with him. He already knew a lot about her history. Eve wasn't one to mince words or hide things, but still, she had to tell him in her own good time. He was mostly concerned about her thoughts to take her life those years ago, and he always had a bit of a fear that she wasn't a hundred percent recovered from that. He prayed everyday that God give her strength to stay the courageous woman she had become. Joel had come up with a plan. A plan that he was so nervous about, he could barely function. A plan that led him to Eve's parents house on Christmas eve at ten o'clock in the morning. Betty and Charles were up and about, wrapping last minute gifts and getting dinner started. They were also active in the church, so they knew of Eve's involvement with Joel. "Why, Joel! Come on in out of the cold! What brings you here bright and early on Christmas eve? You want some coffee?" Betty ushered him in. "Good morning to you both. I'd love some coffee, and I needed to speak with you." Joel smiled. As always, he felt at home at their house. "Oh, dear, is everything all right?" Betty's hand flew to her cheek. "Yes, everything is fine. More than fine. It's perfect." Joel grasped her hand and kissed the knuckles then gave her a squeeze. "Oh. Good. Well, let me get your coffee. Take of your coat, have a seat!" Betty was once again the hostess. "Joel. Merry early Christmas!" Charles stepped from behind the tree. "And to you, Charles. Having issues?" "Yes. Stupid lights. One strand keeps flickering and I just don't feel like taking all the stuff off it to replace them." He shook his head in disgust. Joel examined the tree in question, and laughed as he realized each limb had something on it. He didn't blame Charles a bit. Betty reappeared with his coffee, and she sat on the loveseat. Charles quickly joined her. "So, what can we do for you?" Joel took a deep breath. Now that the moment was upon him, he wasn't sure where to begin. "You want to marry Eve, don't you?" Charles broke the silence. "Yes sir, I do. I want to marry her more than anything I've ever wanted in my life." Betty clasped her hands together while a twinkle appeared in her eye. "I presume you're here to ask permission?" "Yes sir." Joel hadn't expected it to go like this, but it was straight and to the point. "What if I said no?" "Charles!" Betty clutched at his arm as if she were drowning, her mouth agape. "If you said no, I would respect your answer, and work to prove to you that I wanted her as my wife. I would do whatever it took to show you that she is a rare treasure to me. Eve is precious, and I want to make sure she feels precious for the rest of her life." Through The Eyes Of Love Silence fell over the group. Betty's knuckles turned white where she was clamped onto Charles arm. Joel felt perspiration break out on his neck, and felt the need to adjust the collar of his shirt. Charles stared at Joel, unwaveringly. As if he was reading him; checking his sincerity. Joel was about to apologize for coming and leave when Charles stood up and extended his hand. "You have my blessing. I think you two will be very good for each other." "Thank you! Charles, you'll never regret it, and neither will Eve." Joel shook his hand enthusiastically, unable to think of anything else to add. Betty sprung from the couch and launched herself at Joel, throwing her arms around his neck. Joel laughed and spun her around once, then sat her on her feet by her husband. As if it were planned, the trio joined hands, and Charles' deep voice filled the room. "Lord, please watch over Joel and Eve, and show them how to keep happiness in their hearts. We don't expect them to travel a road without rocks, but when they do come to one, Lord, help them step over it instead of stumbling. Thank you for bringing us all together as a family. In Your precious name, amen." "Amen." Joel and Betty chorused. They enjoyed their coffee, over which Joel explained his plans. Betty was delighted, and Charles was approving. They beamed at each other, knowing that Eve was going to be thrilled. "Oh beautiful star, the hope, the grace, For the redeem the good and the blessed Yonder in glory when the crown is won Jesus is now the star divine Brighter and brighter He will shine Oh beautiful star of Bethlehem shine on Oh beautiful star of Bethlehem Shine upon us until the glory dawns Give us a lamp to light the way Unto the land of perfect day Oh beautiful star of Bethlehem shine on." Eve stepped away from the podium to twelve different voices protesting. "Miss Eve, you sing it tonight! We aren't that good!" "Yes you guys are! I'm telling you!" Eve laughed. The kids were trying to talk her into singing at the midnight service. "We'll sing back up. You sing the real part!" Eve looked at the group of children, their ages ranging from nine to seventeen. All of their faces were lit with happiness, and their cheeks were flushed with excitement. This was the first year the church was doing a midnight service, so they were mostly just happy to be staying up late. But Eve held out hope that they were excited it was Jesus' birthday and that yes, Santa came tonight. "All right , all right, you heathens. I'll sing and you guys do the back up. I can't believe I let you talk me into this!" She couldn't help but want them to all be happy. Since her childhood had been so dismal, she was happy to bring smiles to the little faces that surrounded her, and the not so little faces as well. "Has everyone been working on their good deeds?" A couple grumbled, but mostly the answers were affirmative. "Only two days left.. Better get some stuff done!" With bright eyes and happy hearts, the kids left and Eve straightened up the room. The smaller children were upstairs practicing walking on for their manger scene, and by the sound of laughter drifting downstairs it was going well. Eve grinned, a lightness in her heart that hadn't been there earlier. Joel stopped at the doorway and watched Eve as she reorganized her area, humming to herself. She really did have a beautiful voice. Everything about her was beautiful actually. He admired the way her jeans encased her legs and hips, perfectly molded to her bottom. Eve had her back to him, and he enjoyed watching her toss her hair over her shoulder when it fell down around her face. The red cowl-neck sweater she was wearing suited her dark hair and eyes. When she turned, a smile was already on her face, but when she spied him in the doorway, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Joel! Shouldn't you be doing something productive?" Eve shoved the sleeves of her sweater up her forearms. "Already did. Are you done too?" "Yup. Just tidying. I think the kids are contagious- I'm really excited for midnight to get here. Joel, something in my heart feels... right. Do you know what I mean?" He did, and he assured her of that. "Maybe I'm being silly. I haven't felt this happy in years. Is it something in the air?" Eve's smile broadened. "Perhaps. But I think it's because you're a woman in love this year." Joel crossed the room to stand in front of her. "So now you're taking credit?" Her brown eyes gleamed. "I am." Joel wrapped his arms around her. "Joel. We're in God's basement. You shouldn't hold me this close." Eve laughed, a blush staining her cheeks. "I've wracked my brain trying to come up with a better setting, but I can't think of one. Would you marry me, if I asked?" "Joel! I- well.." Eve lowered her eyes, and Joel felt a knot hit the pit of his stomach. "Don't be afraid to give me an honest answer, Eve. Whatever it is, we can deal with it." He tried to be diplomatic, but was failing. His heart was quivering. Deep brown eyes full of love lifted to meet his. Joel felt the knot unravel even as her mouth opened. "Yes Joel, I would." Eve smiled with tears in her eyes. "Would you marry me tonight, after the service?" "What! So soon?" "Why wait? We love each other, and I already asked your father for permission." Joel flashed a grin. "You rotten thing, sneaking behind my back." Eve pretended to be offended. "Just say yes." "Yes." Eve's voice was little more than a whisper. Joel dipped his head and caught her lips with his, his heart singing. The pews in the small church were almost filled to capacity. The lights were dimmed, and what seemed like hundred of candles were lit, filling the sanctuary with a warm glow. The pulpit had been moved to the side, and the small children were set up for their manger scene, albeit a bit squirmy. The congregation giggled as they tugged on their costumes, and the 'baby Jesus' kept trying to get out of the manger. The men's group sang a few songs, then Eve and her study group went up to sing. Her voice held a slight wobble; she could feel the meaning of Christmas down to her soul. As promised, the kids sang back up. There were a few skits, and they even played a trivia game about Jesus' birth. The pastor delivered the message, and when they sang their hymns, Eve was certain that it had never been so blissful. Every face was wreathed in a smile, and she knew it was the best Christmas eve ever. "Brothers and sisters, we are here tonight because our Savior was born. Other people miss out on half of what Christmas is about. Yes, it's awesome that Santa comes and brings us presents... but if it wasn't for the fact it was Jesus' birthday, Santa would have no reason to!" That was met with a few chuckles, and the children were delighted. "Christmas has gotten so commercialized, and everyone is more worried with buying the perfect gift than they are with what Christmas is truly about. It's about love, folks. I hope you all spend more time with your family than you do with opening presents. I ask God for love for each of you. Let's close in prayer." On cue, every head bowed, and the pastor led them in prayer. Eve's eyes went misty. Betty and Charles had been her personal saviors, and she would never be able to pay back their kindness in a million years. She knew God had his hand on her from that day she was a teenager, and she thanked Him for that. She also thanked Him for bringing her into the life of that childless couple. Joel's hand squeezed hers as if he knew she needed it. A quick glance showed that his eyes were still shut. Eve smiled. She loved Joel, so much, and she knew they were going to be happy. "Amen." "Now, folks, I know this is a little unusual, but my brother Joel has something he'd like to say." The pastor grinned. A murmur ran through the crowd. Joel gave her hand a squeeze as he stood and headed for the pulpit. "Everyone, I have some wonderful news. Eve has given me the great honor of agreeing to marry me." Startled gasps and congratulations rang through the air. The hands of people closest to her touched Eve's shoulders, and she turned to smile at everyone. "Furthermore, we're going to get married right now, tonight, and we'd like for you all to stay and be our guests." Everyone cheered and not a person moved from their seats. Except Eve. She stood and met Joel up front, and they joined hands as the pastor began the ceremony. Eve suddenly realized Joel had never given her a ring. She looked at him questioningly and he glanced down at his pocket, or so she assumed. When it came time for the ring, Joel reached in his pocket and produced a beautiful set that interlocked. It looked antique, and it was. It had been his grandmothers. Tears stung Eve's eyes as he slipped it on her finger, and then it was done. She was his. "You may kiss the bride." Joel took her in his arms gently, and only kissed her with a tenth of the love and passion he felt, but they were in church after all. As they walked down the aisle, an outpouring of love and congratulations followed them. Eve blew kisses at people and Joel waved. They walked straight down the stairs, and out the door into a Christmas night that had turned white. "I can't believe it started to snow!" Eve watched out the window of the car as big puffy snowflakes drifted to the ground. "I ordered it. How could it be Christmas eve with no snow?" Joel grinned and kicked the heat up a notch. "I love it. It's perfect. Everything was perfect." Eve turned slightly in her seat to face him. The glow from the dashboard highlighted only half of his face, but Eve didn't mind. Every bit of his features were branded into her memory. "It sure was. I think everyone just wanted to pass out. No one saw that coming but your parents." Joel laughed. He glanced at her once, then turned his head for a slightly longer look. A sizzle of tension flew between them. The past week had been busy, hectic, and sexually charged. It had just hit them both that it was their wedding night. And that they wouldn't have to struggle with any internal conflict... because they were married. Joel's eyes flew quickly back to the road, and Eve felt a flush heat her cheeks. In less than ten minutes, they would be at her house and there was nothing standing between them but their clothes. A shiver of pleasure ran down her spine, and she mentally urged Joel to drive faster. Joel seemed unaffected, but he wasn't by a long shot. The same thoughts had occurred to him, and he tried not to push on the gas pedal any harder. They were almost home. He was already aroused, and he wanted to get to her house as soon as he could. She was his wife. Nothing stood between them; nothing could stop him from losing himself inside of her. The rest of the trip was made in silence and it was uncomfortable. Nerves were kicking in, and Joel didn't know how long he would last before he pounced her. They stepped from the warm interior of the car into the snowy night, and Eve made quick work unlocking the door. Once inside, both were unsure of what to do. "Would you like-" "How about if we-" The couple laughed nervously. They stood there a moment watching each other. Eve was going to offer to make some peppermint tea, and Joel was going to suggest they put in a Christmas movie. It was late though, they should probably get to bed... the thought crossed their minds at the same time. Joel shook his head with a smile on his face. "Come here." Eve stepped into his arms more than willingly. She rested her forehead against the side of his neck, and breathed in the fragrance of his cologne. She sighed, and wrapped her arms more tightly around his torso. Joel's hands moved over her back, kneading gently, relaxing her. After a few minutes, he slid one hand up to cup her cheek and he leaned away from her slightly. Eve's eyes opened, curious, and Joel met her gaze for a half second before his mouth swooped down on hers. His tongue lapped at the seam of her lips, and she opened for him. Her tongue darted out to meet his, and they devoured each other. Eve's hands plunged into his hair and she held onto him for dear life, while his hands caressed her backside and pulled her up against him. The proof of his desire pressed against her belly, and she wriggled her hips against him, something deep inside of her opening, wanting to be filled and satisfied. She slid one hand down and between them and pressed her palm against his cock. She gasped at the feel of him, hard and throbbing against her. Eve felt herself growing wet, and that feeling deep at the core of her womanhood grew stronger. Joel groaned as she laid her hand on him; his cock twitched and grew impossibly bigger. He felt like he would explode at any moment. He knew their first time together wouldn't last long, but he didn't want to disgrace himself immediately. He reached and caught her hand, breaking off their kiss at the same time. "Let's go to bed." Eve only nodded then turned to lead the way. Joel watched her ass as it swayed under her black slacks, then groaned and averted his eyes. Eve heard him and glanced over her shoulder with a smirk gracing her lips. "Problems?" "You have no idea." The musical sound of her laughter floated back to him, and Joel rolled his eyes and tried to think of other things. It was impossible. He could still feel her curves against him, still smell her shampoo and perfume, and still taste her on his lips. Joel went straight to the bed and laid down, closing his eyes. "Give me a minute. I've got to get myself together here." He huffed a self-depreciating laugh. "Take your time." Eve smothered a giggle. He heard a drawer close, then the bathroom door shut and he took a chance and opened his eyes. Yes, she was in the bathroom. Joel took a few deep, steadying breaths. In his mind, he chanted, 'you're twenty-eight, not sixteen.' over and over. It was only a few minutes later that he heard the bathroom door squeak. He opened one eye and saw her in the doorway, highlighted by the light from the bathroom. His breath hissed from between his teeth. Eve stood, surprisingly self confident, wearing nothing but a sheer red nightie that barely touched the tops of her thighs. The white lace that accented the trim was at once innocent and beguiling. All of Joel's hard work calming himself down was gone in an instant. "There's a good chance you're trying to kill me." His face looked almost pained. "Nope. Just want to make sure ya got what you paid for." Eve wiggled her eyebrows and moved from the doorway to the bed. Joel's eyes traveled the length of her. When he reached the top of her head, he shut his eyes and Eve watched as his jaw clenched. Again, she laughed. "Nothing about this is funny." "Sir, I have to disagree. You look miserable. And the woman in me loves it." Eve put a knee on the bed and crawled over to where he was laying. He felt her hands at the waistband of his pants and his eyes flew open again. "Are you going to help?" Eve smiled at him. "I suppose." Joel sat up and pulled his shirt over his head, throwing it to the floor. Eve's hands moved back to his waist, and she undid his belt, then his button, then his zipper. She pulled at the waistband until Joel lifted his hips and his pants slid free. She moved down to his feet and tugged off his shoes, then pulled his pants the rest of the way down. The only thing between her and his full nudity was his boxers. "Joel, not to sound crass, but I feel like I'm raping you." Eve crawled back up the length of his body. "I am trying not to pounce you and finish in five seconds flat. You're killing me here." "I don't expect this first time to last forever. And we have the rest of our lives to make up for it." Eve's voice sounded serious, but when he looked at her, she couldn't hide the twinkle in her eye or the quirk of her lips. "I warned you." Joel lunged up at her, and took her down onto her back. Eve laughed and wriggled beneath him, adjusting herself. Joel laid nestled between her legs, and all hilarity disappeared from their faces. She could feel every inch of him pressing against her, and Joel knew she wasn't wearing panties. His mouth again covered hers as he hips rocked up against her. Eve moaned in her throat, and wrapped her legs around his waist. Joel tore his mouth from hers to trail kisses along her jaw and neck, his hands exploring every inch of her he could reach. He finally shifted to the side slightly and slid his hand between them, his jaw clenching as he heard Eve's whimper when his fingers brushed the length of her slit. He delved into her deeper, encouraged by her moans as he spread her wetness around. Eve's head dropped back and her eyes fluttered shut. Never had anything in her life felt that good. They had done things before, but there was always a catch in the back of her mind- something telling her what they were doing was wrong. There was no such internal voice this time, and Eve's conscience was clear. Her hips lifted to meet Joel's hand, and his fingers slipped inside of her. Her eyes flew open and she met Joel's gaze, his fingers moving gently. In that moment, Eve felt him in her soul. She reached for him, intending to give him some pleasure also, but he moved his hips from her. "Next time." He softened his words with a smile. "Joel... please.." Eve's breathy request was little more than a whisper. Joel sat back on his knees and pulled his boxers down, shoving them off roughly. When he covered her body again with his own, there was nothing between them, and his cock slid between her lips naturally. He reached down and guided the tip to her entrance, and Eve braced herself, practically sobbing with the need to feel him. Inch by inch he slid into her waiting depths, slowly, so slowly.. Eve didn't know how to say it, but she just wanted him to... fuck her. She felt herself blush even thinking the word. She again wrapped her legs around his waist, hitching her knees up his side, both of them gasping as he hit bottom. Joel rested his weight on his hands on either side of her shoulders, and Eve's hands wandered restlessly up and down his back as he started to move. Only a few strokes in, her hands drifted to his hips and urged him inside of her. As Eve writhed beneath him, Joel wanted to go faster, but he was afraid of cheating her, so he tried to hold back. He dropped his head next to hers and closed his eyes, willing himself not to hear her breathy panting or the ragged whimpers tearing from her throat. He was so close, and he knew she hadn't come yet. He was about to move his hand to help that along when her lips pressed next to his ear. "Joel?" "Yes?" "Please... fuck me." Joel heard himself gasp, first at the use of the word, then at it's implications. He couldn't move. "Stop holding back. I want you... I want to feel you... please.." Eve wriggled restlessly beneath him. His hips picked up the tempo, and Eve whispered 'yes', and he knew he was doing something right. He reached between them and found her clit, rubbing it in time with his strokes. Eve's breath caught in her throat and she bit her bottom lip to keep from yelling out. Joel thrust harder, hit deeper, stayed longer, and Eve finally bucked violently against him. Her breath came in ragged gasps, and her fingernails bit into the skin of his hips. He was only able to enjoy her orgasm for a moment before he growled and the first spurt of cum left his body. Joel moved spasmodically, twitching inside of her as her muscles clamped around him, wringing every last drop from him. He shuddered, rolling them to the side so he didn't crush her. Eve's eyes popped open as he shifted inside of her. They were limp and satisfied, hovering on the brink of sleep and wakefulness. Through The Eyes Of Love "I'm going to fall asleep, I think." Joel yawned. "Me too. Wake me up in the morning with a kiss, would ya?" Eve shot him a sleepy smile. "I'll see what I can do." Christmas morning dawned bright and sunny. Extra bright, since it managed to give more than a dusting of snow. Looking out the windows fairly hurt Joel's eyes. Eve was still sleeping peacefully, one hand tucked under her face. Her cheeks were flushed with sleep, and he smiled. His wife. She was a beautiful creature, inside and out. Memories of the night before danced behind his eyes, and he felt himself becoming aroused yet again. They had woken at some point in the middle of the night and made love again, and as amazing as their first time had been, the second was ten times better. They had both shed some of their insecurities and started to teach each other what they liked. It had been unlike anything either of them had experienced. Before he could get too deep into that thought process, Joel snuck from the bedroom and began whistling under his breath once he hit the hallway. After his shower, he threw some cinnamon rolls into the oven and went to retrieve Eve's gifts from his trunk. He crunched through the covering of snow, squinting painfully. The church bells rang the hour. It was eight o'clock. He needed to be getting Eve up soon. Suddenly a wicked idea struck him. She had said to wake her up with a kiss.... Joel grabbed the bags of gifts and brought them in quickly, tucking them under the tree. He pulled the cinnamon rolls from the oven and turned it off, then headed for the bedroom. Eve had rolled onto her back, and her legs were splayed to each corner of the foot of the bed. Joel smirked and gently climbed onto the bed. He pushed the blankets out of his way, and went to work. Eve came awake, noticing three things. One, it was excessively bright behind her eyelids, two, she was chilled and not under the blankets, and three, she felt something between her legs. At that, her eyes flew open and she looked down to see the top of Joel's head. Eve squirmed, embarrassed to have him.. Down there, doing what he was doing. Her embarrassment won out over the nice feelings it was bringing to her, and she wriggled up the bed away from him. "What are you doing?" Eve pulled the blanket up over her nude body. "Waking you up with a kiss, Sleeping Beauty." Joel grinned. "Very cute. Did I hear you say you wanted to get me a cup of coffee?" "Sure thing." Joel sprung from the bed, whistling as he went. Eve flew from the covers, almost stumbling in her haste. She entered the bathroom and took a shower, wincing at the pain of newly used muscles she didn't know she had. Once clean, she felt better. She was pretty embarrassed that she actually used the 'f' word the night before, and she had to remind herself they had done nothing wrong. Still, everything was just slightly awkward. Eve entered the bedroom and Joel sat on the edge of the bed, coffee in hand, looking for all the world like he'd lost his best friend. "What's the matter?" Eve came to stop in front of him and took the cup from his hand. "Did I do something wrong?" "What do you mean?" "Just then. Before I got your coffee. Did I offend you?" "No. Oh, no. I just- er.. Well, I've never... before. I just didn't..." Eve stirred the air in front of her with her hand, trying to rummage up the correct words. "Ah. I see. I guess we've never really talked about that. I'm sorry if I startled you. I was trying to be silly I guess." Joel looked uncomfortable. "No, you did fine. It's just... that's new to me, and I wanted a shower, and.. I'm sorry. You look like I gave you a pony for Christmas and then the pony died. I apologize." "It's all right. Let's go open our gifts." Joel stood to head for the living room, when Eve's hand stopped him. "Joel. I'm sorry. All of this is new to us. It will take a minute to get used to everything, that's all." He glanced up at her face. "I suppose you're right. I'm sorry too." Eve took a deep breath, embracing the scarlet woman within that she had become. She set the coffee on the nightstand, and untied her robe. "Eve, we've got to go to church here in a bit..." Joel backed away from her, trying not to laugh. "We're on our honeymoon. No one will think a thing of it." Eve grinned and rolled her shoulders, letting the robe slide down her arms. "But-but.." Joel sputtered, and backed right into the bed. "I think I want that kiss after all." Eve's breasts brushed against his arm as she moved past him and climbed onto the bed. Joel looked over his shoulder at her and watched as she laid on her back and spread her legs. The blush that was her constant companion covered her face, her neck, and her upper chest. Eve wasn't quite as self assured as she seemed. He watched her thigh muscles quiver as he climbed into bed next to her, and he laughed as her stomach muscles jumped when he brushed his fingertips over her skin. His fingers moved to her slit almost immediately, and her hips lifted from the bed when he grazed her clit. Joel moved and climbed between her legs, kissing down her inner thigh from her knee to her pussy. Eve struggled internally to keep her legs parted, but when she felt Joel's breath fan across her delicate flesh, and felt his tongue and lips doing wonderful things to her clit, all thoughts of modesty left her. Joel's tongue massaged her clit one minute, lapped at it the next, and in between his lips drew tight around it and he sucked. His tongue washed a path up and down each lip, swirling in the middle, circling her clit and plunging inside of her. Eve's hands clenched the sheets as she moaned and squirmed beneath him. Joel's hands moved to steady her hips, and Eve thought she was going to die on the spot. His mouth was very well educated, which gave her a moment's pause, but nothing could keep her off track very long. She was close... and Eve decided she wanted to feel her husband inside of her. "Joel..?" He smothered a laugh. "Yes, dear?" "Um, what you're doing is divine, but would it bother you to get yourself up here so I can feel you inside of me?" "Your slightest wish is my command." "I just didn't want to come alone. It doesn't seem useful if you aren't inside me to feel me pulsing around you." Her words hit him like a punch in the gut. He moved up her body quickly and plunged inside of her almost without pause. He began thrusting wildly, gritting his teeth while she whimpered and purred against his neck. Joel grabbed one of her legs and lifted it to open her wider, so she could take him deeper. And she did. Eve practically screamed as his cock bumped against her womb again and again. It didn't take long before Eve was whispering 'yes' with each stroke, and Joel felt perspiration break out on his neck as he tried to hold back and let go at the same time. Finally, Eve won the battle. She bit down onto his shoulder as she came, her hips flexing and pussy clamping while Joel gave a last few thrusts and followed closely behind her. He rocked into Eve as his cock drained itself inside of her, and tried valiantly to catch his breath. "I'm ready for my presents now!" Eve was gasping for breath but she still managed to show enthusiasm as she rolled him off of her. "I'm ready for a nap." Joel shut his eyes and pretended to snore. "I don't think so." Eve leaned over and gave his cock a swipe with her tongue before she darted from the bed. "Ah! Oh, wow. All right, I'm up, I'm up." Joel got out of bed and pulled his pants back up. Out in the living room, Eve had put her robe back on and was happily sipping coffee and eating a cinnamon roll. They exchanged their presents with great enjoyment. Not only was it Christmas day, but they were married, their moral dilemmas were solved, and the sexual tension that had been following them around had abated somewhat. They made love on the floor in front of the tree on top of wrapping paper, then wandered to the bathroom and touched and kissed each other under the spray of the shower head. They laughed, they loved, and they enjoyed each other. Finally, the couple made their way to the bed once again, and fell asleep in each others arms. The shrill ringing of the telephone startled them both awake. Joel reached for the receiver and the abrupt silence was almost as obnoxious as the noise had been. "Hello?" Joel blinked and rolled up onto one elbow. Eve pushed her hair away from her face and sat up, her eyes seeking the clock. Church had just ended, and they had definitely missed it. Maybe that phone call was someone from the church. "Hang on Betty, she's right here." "Mom?" Eve's eyebrow furrowed, but Joel had a smile on his face. "Hello sweetie. I hate to bother you, but I have a little girl here that needed to tell you something important." "All right." Eve was a quarter past confused. Joel caught the look on her face and smothered a laugh. "Miss Eve?" "Yes? Who is this?" "Jenny! Julie's little sister! Listen, I hadta tell you sumthin' 'portant!" "What is that, honey?" Eve poked Joel in the side and motioned with her hand for him to explain. Joel just shook his head. Eve listened as Jenny explained the purpose of the phone call. She had seen her big sister doing good deeds, so she wanted to do something too. She told Mister Joel he should marry Miss Eve, because God loved them both and they should be together. As the little girl rambled on, Eve covered the receiver with her palm and whispered to Joel, "Was this the kid that did something that wasn't in my class?" He nodded, and a grin split his face. He knew what was coming. "Jenny, that was very sweet of you, and I appreciate all your help. Thank you so much! Okay darling, bye bye." Eve hung up the phone and began laughing. "What's so funny?" Joel leaned back against the pillows. "I just re-remembered the spirit of Christmas. Love, wasn't that it?" "Yeah? So? What did the kid say?" "I just realized how much I love kids. And she didn't say much. She just said that she hoped we had a baby like Jesus." Joel's shoulders rocked with silent laughter. "And that she had personally sent letters to Santa and God to make sure we got married." Eve rolled to face her husband and tried to keep from laughing. "Is that all?" Joel knew it wasn't. "Nope. She said she hoped God and Santa hadn't been keeping us up lately. They've been staying up late drinking hot chocolate, talking about us." Joel finally burst out laughing, and caught Eve to him with one arm. She joined in the laughter, covering her face with one hand. "Merry Christmas, Eve. And happy wedding. May we be blessed with the pitter patter of many little feet." Joel kissed her temple, his laughter puffing against her hair. "Same to you. And I hope they all believe in God, Santa, and the power of late night hot chocolate."
