0 comments/ 16616 views/ 7 favorites On Madison's Avenue By: LSanders As the cliché goes, when you looked up "nerd" in the dictionary, there was a very good chance of finding Thomas Callahan's picture in the book. Thomas considered himself a "thinking man's nerd." Sure, he loved science, was gifted at math, and was very proficient with a joystick. But, he also loved adventure and loved stories that swept his imagination away on a magic carpet ride of fair damsels, gallant knights, and dangerous beasts. Of course, the object of most of his fantasies was not a damsel in distress. It was Madison James. Maddie looked like she fell out of the pages of a magazine. She had long, sleek dark brown hair that tumbled halfway down her back and had the texture and shine of spun silk. Her chocolate eyes were capped with arched eyebrows that made her look as if she always had a secret. Her nose was a razor straight line that divided her high cheekbones and angular face to perfection. Her flawless white teeth were usually easy to spot behind a smile formed by her full, pink lips. Madison's skin was a flawless soft coating of dark butter cream. Most guys were drawn to her large firm breasts that rose proudly above her chiseled abs. Thomas loved her legs. Madison had the powerful legs of an athlete with well-defined calves and slender ankles. She had competed in gymnastics for several years before the demands of school and cheerleading created too many conflicts. Now, she was the main attraction of the cheerleading squad at Kennedy High. As an object of fantasy, Madison was at the top of the list of just about every guy at Kennedy. Thomas was certainly not immune to the seductive charm of her eyes or her body, but his real feelings for her began in 8th grade. He noticed that she had been very subdued for a couple of days. They were in Social Studies learning about the old west. Mr. Gregson was recounting the story of Little Big Horn and the atrocities heaped upon the Native Americans. He had some slides of paintings that depicted many of the characters and the lifestyle of the plains Indians in that era. He put up a slide of a Lakota warrior named, Little Hawk, who was a cousin to Crazy Horse, the leader of the Lakota and Cheyenne warriors that annihilated General Custer's army. When Madison looked up at the screen, she burst into tears. She got up and ran out of the room. Everyone was startled by the outburst. Mr. Gregson knew this was not normal behavior for Madison and sent Teri Elliott to check on her. Maddie was sitting in the hallway outside the classroom crying hard. Teri came back in to tell the teacher, and he went to find out what had upset her. "Madison, what's wrong," he asked as he sat down beside her and put his arm around her shoulders. She clutched him and buried her head in his chest and bawled for several minutes before finally regaining enough composure to talk. "It's ... It's ... just that ... the horse in that slide looked ... just like Maza," she stammered between sobs. She explained that she had always fantasized about having a horse of her own, but her family could never afford one. They did agree, however, to take in a horse that had been rescued from an abusive rancher in South Dakota. Those animals had been horribly beaten and starved. Most were so frightened people couldn't get near them. "Maza, which is the Lakota word for steel, was different. He stared right at that asshole owner ..." she stopped and looked up at Mr. Gregson. "I'm sorry." He smiled at her, brushed some of the sweaty hair from her face and said soothingly, "Sounds like a pretty good choice of words to me." She smiled behind her puffy eyes. "Maza stared him right in the eye and never backed down. The rescue people said Maza tried to make the rancher mad at him so the other horses wouldn't ... be hit," she said on the verge of tears again. She swallowed hard. "He became my horse, and he died a couple of days ago, and I miss him so much," she said as she collapsed into tears again. Mr. Gregson just sat and held her for the rest of the period. When Thomas heard that story, he saw Madison in a different light. Of course, she was still beautiful, but he realized she had even more beauty inside. That was the day Thomas fell in love with the real Madison James. Thomas had to be satisfied with loving Madison from afar for the next couple of years. They had a few classes, and she was always friendly. But, Madison's world was full of the hottest people, and Thomas was not. It's not that he was homely. He just wasn't a star athlete or class president. Madison was not a serial dater. Once she found someone, she wanted to stick with that guy for awhile. Her current boyfriend was Graham Carter. Graham was class president and a basketball star. They made a good match. Graham was tall and blonde and made a terrific complement to Madison's Mediterranean sultriness. Of course, high school is high school, and Madison engendered more than her fair share of jealousy. Queen of that group was Allison Hathaway. Allison was actually a pretty girl, but she was also a slut who used her body to get what she wanted from guys. "Look at Miss Highnmighty," she was often heard saying to her friends, the "Slutettes," about Madison. "We've been watching the princess hold court for four years. I think it's about time Sweet L'il Maddie was brought down to earth." "How? Graham is totally in love with her. You'll never get near him," said Sally Gaines. Allison sighed. "You have so much to learn about the power of pussy, Sally." Graham became her sole focus. She flirted with him. Put herself in situations where she was able to expose skin to him. She flattered him. Nothing worked. Allison was getting P.O.ed. Her opportunity came when she found out about a seniors-only party at Chip Davidson's house on Saturday. She talked her older sister, Penelope, into getting her the needed supplies. At the party, she knew Madison and the cheerleaders were going to Tammy's house to change and would be late arriving to the party. She latched onto Graham early in the evening and refused to let him out of her sight. While he was talking to Weston, one of his teammates, she slipped a roofie into his beer. When Graham starting feeling the effects, Allison managed to talk him into helping her find her keys in the upstairs bedroom where the coats were being housed. Once they entered the room, Graham quickly passed out. Allison struggled but managed to get his clothes off. "Wow! You have a very nice, very long cock, Mr. Carter. I wonder if that's what Maddie sees in you." She took her own clothes off and put Graham's limp penis in her mouth. However, she had no luck getting the unconscious boy hard. "Hi, Maddie!" Sally yelled from the bottom of the stairs. That was her signal to Allison that Madison had arrived. "Hi, Sally. Have you seen Graham anywhere?" Madison asked. "Nope. Oh, wait, I remember him telling Allison he would help her find her keys. They might still be in the bedroom with the coats upstairs," she replied, trying to look innocent. Madison was unsure what the odd expression on Sally's face meant, but she said thanks and headed up to the bedroom. Allison had to think quickly and hopped on top of Graham and began simulating sex. Madison heard what sounded like moans coming from inside. She opened the door and saw a nude Allison writhing on top of some guy. When she opened the door wider, the light from the hall fell on Graham's face. He had his eyes closed and his head thrown back. Allison looked over her shoulder, saw Madison, and winked. Madison put her hand over her mouth and ran down the stairs and out of the house. Tammy saw her and ran up the stairs to see what had happened. Allison was still continuing her performance and ordered Tammy to give them some privacy. "You fucking piece of shit!" Tammy yelled at Allison and ran out of the house to find Madison. Graham was hysterical the next day trying to get in touch with Madison. Her dad finally had to tell him to stop calling. He left many tearful messages on Maddie's cell phone, but the damage was done. In school the next week, stories about the weekend romp were the number one topics of conversation. Thomas had been finishing up a chemistry project and was leaving school late. He stopped in his tracks when he heard voices coming from inside one of the girls' bathrooms and Madison name being mentioned. "Did you see the look on her face," Allison said with a cruel laugh. "Graham Carter ... Mr. Perfect ... with his long sweet cock crammed up my snatch!" The Slutettes howled. "But, you said you nothing happened. You never fucked him," Sally said. Allison looked around the group, rolled her eyes, and sighed. "Sally, it doesn't matter. Madison saw me sitting naked on top of her man. As far as she's concerned, he's tainted goods now. The power of pussy, remember?" The group shrieked with cruel laughter again. Thomas was angrier than he had ever been. He hurt as much watching Madison as she herself hurt living through the experience. He couldn't believe anyone could be that evil. He vowed to get revenge. He had no idea how, but he was not going to let Allison get away with hurting Maddison. A couple of weeks later, Thomas' mom had to work on Saturday. She ran one of the biggest family medical clinics in town. She sometimes had to go into work on Saturday to catch up. Whenever she did, she would usually ask Thomas if he wanted to go in and do some filing. She paid him, and he was always happy to help his mom. Thomas was a familiar face around the clinic, so the few staff members that were there on Saturday were friendly. He had been taught the basics of medical records filing and worked for about five hours. It was about hour number three that fate smiled upon him. He had been putting away records in the "H" section when his eye caught the name "Hathaway." Since no one was around, he pulled out the file and, sure enough, it was Allison's. He kept one eye out for staff and leafed through the folder. It was mostly routine annual physical results, immunizations, etc. But, before long, he hit pay dirt. Allison had to be treated for crab lice on two separate occasions and there was a current prescription for Valtrex. Thomas smiled. He knew Valtrex was used to treat genital herpes. He nonchalantly took the key pages to the copy machine and stuffed the copies into his pants pocket. Afterwards, he made sure the file was in perfect order and completed his work. Later that night, he got busy on his computer making up a fake flyer, inviting people to a party hosted by one Allison Hathaway. The party would feature a crab buffet and free rides were offered to any male who was brave enough. He noted at the bottom that the party was sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline, makers of Valtrex. Then, on the reverse side, he attached key passages from the medical records, careful to remove any marks that could identify his mom's clinic. He included evidence of the multiple lice treatments and the Valtrex prescription. Next day, Thomas rode his bike to a shopping center several miles away from his home neighborhood. He made 1,000 copies of the flyer on pink paper. He then stopped by a florist and got a bunch of flowers and a card. In the card, he put one copy of the flyer and signed it from "A Friend." He dropped the flowers and card on Madison's front stoop. On Monday, he told his mother he had to get up early for a physics group meeting and got to school just a few minutes after the custodial staff opened the doors and the gates. He snuck through the school and dropped fliers in every student bathroom. By the time homeroom ended, the school was buzzing like a hornet's nest. Allison was in tears in the Principal's office. The Slutettes were hiding out in shock. Madison and her friends were in hysterics reading the flyer and adding their own rude comments. Thomas leaned against a back wall and took in the majesty of his work. Once again, all was right with the world, he thought. "Okay, we've got two months until State. How are we going to raise money for transportation?" Tammy Cutler asked. She was the captain of the cheerleaders and was addressing her varsity group who had qualified to compete in the state finals that year. "Why don't we do what Spring Hill did last year?" Kerrie Larson suggested. "What did they do?" asked Lori Burns. "They held a Date-a-Cheerleader raffle. I know it sounds cheesy, but they raised almost $3,000," answered Tammy. "That's gross," Madison said. "It's like we're just pieces of meat being auctioned off." "Look, I know this isn't exactly the most sophisticated idea, but it seems to work. Besides, all the dates will be chaperoned," Tammy said. "Let's take a vote." Even though not everyone was happy, they group voted to hold the raffle. The next couple of weeks, the cheerleaders were busy promoting the event. Posters covered the school, and ads were taken out in the school newspaper. "Hey, Maddie, wait up!" yelled Blake Nielsen. Blake was the All-American quarterback of the Kennedy Warriors. With Blake's chiseled body, dark features and green eyes, he had his pick of just about any girl in school ... any girl who was not named, Madison James. "Oh, hi, Blake," she said pleasantly but kept walking. He quickly caught up with her. "Maddie, my cousin's coming to town over the weekend, and Dad and I are going to take the boat up to the lake to go skiing." "You should have fun," Madison said coolly. "No, Maddie, I wanted you to come too," he said moving in front of her and blocking her path. "Thanks, Blake, but, I'm going to the mall with Tara on Saturday." "What about Sunday?" Blake asked. "Going to be with the fam," she said with a shrug. She started to walk away, but Blake stopped her again. "Maddie, I bought 50 Win-A-Date tickets and put your name on all of them. Is that the only way I can get you to go out with me?" Madison looked up at those green eyes and smirked. "Fifty, huh?" "Yeah! I'll buy more if I have to. Look, I know that whole thing with Graham sucked, but we're not all jerks. Come on ... one date ... please?" "One date ..." "Yes!" He shouted and jumped into the air. "Hold on. One date ... Then, if I don't want to go out anymore, you graciously consent to disappear. Agreed?" Blake shook her hand. "Agreed, but you won't be able to resist me after that, Maddie." She rolled her eyes and replied, "We'll see. I'm late for Spanish. Goodbye, Blake." He was still hooting; then he stopped. "Hey, Maddie, when?" "After the raffle," she yelled in return as she walked into Spanish. Thomas was leaving nothing to chance. He had saved $650 over the past summer mowing yards. He took $500 and bought Madison James raffle tickets. He then asked his uncle to agree to be a chaperone if he won. He had everything in place. Now, all he had to do was hope Lady Luck would smile on him. On the last Friday of the month, the students filed into the gym for the big raffle. Thanks, in part to Thomas, Madison alone brought in over $1,000. In all, the cheerleaders cleared $3,250 and were assured of being able to get transportation to the state capital for the competition. Naturally, Ms. Spears, the cheerleader coach, held Madison's drawing last. All the other cheerleaders were standing to the side with their dates. It was interesting to see how many of the cool people had actually bought tickets. "Finally, we have the drawing for the date on Saturday with Ms. Madison James," Ms. Spears announced into the microphone. Many boys were on the edges of their seats. Thomas was closing his eyes, silently praying. Ms. Spears stuck her hand into the box marked "James" and finally drew out the winning ticket. "And the winner is ..." She stopped and looked around the gym. "Did I ever tell you about my trip last summer to the Grand Canyon?" she asked with a straight face. "Come on!" yelled one anxious ticket-holder. The gym broke up in hysterics. Madison blushed. Ms. Spears chuckled and announced, "The winner is: Thomas Callahan!" There was a small cheer from a group of Thomas' friends, but mostly there was a collective moan. Blake turned to his friends and laughed. "Man, I feel sorry for her!" Thomas was in danger of hyperventilating, but he made his way down the bleachers to join Madison and the other winners. Like the others, he took her hand when he was beside her. "I want to thank you all for your enthusiastic participation!" Ms. Spears yelled. "Congratulations to the winners and 'Go Warriors!'" She then turned to the winners and asked everyone to have a seat for a moment. When the gym was mostly cleared, she told them the rules. The date was to take place the following Saturday. It didn't matter where each couple decided to go, but ALL of them had to be chaperoned. She gave them all her cell number and passed around a list so the chaperone's name and contact information could be included. She explained that she would be talking to each of chaperone to verify the arrangements. "So, Thomas, when do you want to get together?" Madison asked with a smile. Thomas felt like he was going to have a heart attack. "My uncle is going to chaperone us, and he'll pick us up about 6:00 if that's not too early." "No. That's fine," she replied. Her dimples were amazing he thought. "How should I dress?" she asked. "Casual. Jeans would be fine," he said. "I can certainly handle that," she said brightly. Thomas was standing there, not knowing what to say and staring into her dark eyes. "So, I guess I'll see you tomorrow at 6:00," she said stifling a laugh. "Yeah ... 6:00." "I may need this between now and then," she said, indicating her hand, which Thomas was still holding. He jumped. "Oh, sorry!" he replied dropping her hand. She laughed. "You're sweet, Thomas." She kissed him on the cheek and gave him directions to her house. He turned red. At precisely 6:00 pm, Thomas and his uncle turned into Madison's driveway. Thomas had made sure his uncle was on time. Thomas got out of the pick-up and walked up to the door with a box of sugar cubes. Madison greeted him and introduced him to her Dad. He stuck his head out the front door and waved to Thomas' uncle. "Well, Thomas, I've never been given a box of sugar cubes on a date," Madison said. "They may come in handy later," Thomas explained mysteriously. He couldn't wipe the smile off his face. Mr. James watched the whole thing amused. "Is this supposed to be a metaphor about Maddie being sweet?" he asked Thomas. "No." Then, he looked startled. "Not that she's not sweet," he quickly explained. Madison laughed at his awkwardness. It had been a long time since a boy had been this nervous picking her up for a date. She found it charming. Madison took Thomas' arm and headed for the truck with the sugar in her hands. "See you later, Daddy!" "Have a good time, kids," he said closing the door and shaking his head. Thomas wanted the date to have a theme and wanted Madison to experience things she didn't expect. Instead of dinner at the mall and a movie, he had something completely different in mind. Madison made it easy to talk. She led the conversation and even brought Thomas' uncle Bill into it. After about forty-five minutes, they left the highway and turned up a dirt road. "Thomas planned this evening's festivities in meticulous detail, Madison," Bill explained. "We are heading to my place." He smiled. Madison smiled in a confused way, but she was intrigued that this was not a typical date. After a few bumps and jolts, they turned into the gravel drive that led to the house and the barn. There was a big fenced pen and a handful of horses grazing. The group was met by Thomas' aunt Terry. Thomas helped Madison out of the truck and introduced her to Terry. She extended her hand. "It's nice to meet you, Madison. Welcome to the Split T Ranch." On Madison's Avenue "Thank you, Mrs. Callahan. Your home is beautiful!" Madison said in genuine amazement. "It's home, and call me Terry. That's Bill. We're not big on formality here." Madison smiled. "Thanks, Terry." "I would bring you in for a cold drink, but I think Tommy's taken care of everything." Terry turned to Thomas and said, "It's all packed and ready, dear. Thunder and Missy are saddled and ready to go too." Thomas grinned, grabbed Madison's hand and took her into the barn. They rounded the corner of the stall and Madison froze in her tracks. There in front of her was a jet black mare with white markings around her hooves and a white star between her eyes. She was the spitting image of Maza. Madison was speechless. She turned to Thomas and back to Missy. "How did you ... how did you ..." she said to Thomas as tears formed in her eyes. Thomas smiled and kicked the dirt. "I was in your social studies class in 8th grade with Mr. Gregson. I remembered how sad you were about Maza, so I thought you might enjoy riding Missy. She's a spirited horse and one of my favorites." Madison was fighting very hard to keep from sobbing. She clutched Thomas close to her, kissed his cheek, and said softly, "Thank you. I can't think of anything in this world I'd like more." Bill and Terry watched the whole thing with their arms around each other. They gave each other a kiss and watched Thomas help Madison onto Missy. He climbed up on Thunder. Bill had packed a wagon with blankets, a cooler, and a picnic basket. He told Thomas to unhitch it from Thunder and leave it in the field when they were done. He said he'd get it tomorrow. Thomas led the way to a huge oak tree by a wide creek. He spread out the blanket and got the dinner organized. They had Terry's famous fried chicken and rolls, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Terry had also backed a cherry cobbler for them. The cooler held plenty of water and lemonade. Madison was blown away. She never expected anything like this in a million years. She felt like a little kid. They ate. They threw rocks in the water. They galloped through the fields on the horses. It was an absolutely magical evening. After dark, Thomas took her up to the ridge and spread out a blanket. She was thrilled to see the light of the city laid out in the valley below them. In the sky, millions of stars filled the heavens. She clutched Thomas's arm. She was having one of the best nights of her life. After some time spent talking, Madison took Thomas' chin in her hand and turned his face towards hers. "Thank you, Tommy," she said with a giggle and a small hit on his arm. "This is the best date I've ever been on." Thomas beamed. Then, Madison kissed Thomas. He was stunned. He never expected anything like that, but he wasn't stupid enough to pass up the opportunity. Thomas kissed her back passionately. Thomas had never kissed a girl and was afraid Madison would realize that fact. If she did, she didn't show it. She was so overcome with affection for Thomas that she kept kissing him and kissing him. She explored his mouth with her soft tongue, and he quickly picked up the cues to do the same. They just sat there kissing for what seemed like an eternity. Suddenly, Thomas' watch alarm went off to signal that it was time to head back to the farmhouse. Madison looked at him with surprise and then fell over backwards onto the blanket laughing. Thomas smiled sheepishly. The kids were taken back in Bill's truck, and Madison was home ten minutes before the 11:00 curfew imposed by the raffle committee. Thomas walked her up to the door to say goodnight. "Tommy, that was an amazing evening! Thank you, again, so much," Madison said to him. Then, she kissed him again. Mr. James raised his eyebrows in surprise. Thomas was not her usual type. She turned to Bill and yelled, "Bye, Bill! Give Missy a couple of extra carrots for me!" "I will do that, Madison. You're welcome anytime to ride her again," Bill said. "Really?!" "Sure. Any friend of Tommy is automatically a friend of ours." Madison squealed, gave Thomas a big hug, and kissed him one more time. Then, she turned to her Dad. "Daddy, can Tommy go to the park with us tomorrow, please?" Warren chuckled and answered, "Sure. If he can stand your company for two days in a row." "Can you?" she asked, turning to Thomas. Thomas was practically speechless, but he did finally answer, "I think I can manage." "Great! We'll pick you up tomorrow at 1:00, right?" she asked, turning to her Dad. "Doesn't look like I have a choice?" he said with a laugh. They said their goodbyes, and Thomas finally headed back to Bill's truck. Never in any fantasy he ever had did he think he would go on a date with Madison James ... much less two dates. When they got to his house, Bill went in for a few minutes to give his brother and sister the lowdown on the evening. He figured Thomas would be too lost in his own world to talk. In school the next week, there were several stories about the cheerleader dates. Most were either routine or ridiculous, like Walter Stevens trying to be romantic and dancing with Tammy by a big lit fountain. Unfortunately, he tripped and fell into the water dragging her in with him. Everyone asked Madison about her date, expecting dopey dish. Instead, she told them it was the most romantic date she had ever had. She described the events and went on and on about Thomas' gallantry and how much fun it was to ride Missy. Her friends listened in stunned silence. "Are you, like, falling for him?" Kelly asked. "Nope," she answered. "Already fallen." "For Thomas Callahan?" Tammy asked in shock. "For Tommy Callahan," she answered, looking dreamy and heading down the hall to her next class. Her friends stared at her with their mouths open. At lunch, Madison brought Thomas to her table to sit with the cheerleaders. Judging from the looks on the various faces, she might as well have brought an orangutan. Thomas was very nervous to be so far out of his comfort zone, but Madison kept holding his arm and refused to let him go. She talked to her friends as if nothing different was taking place. Blake approached to ask her about their impending date. He saw Thomas sitting there with Madison wrapped around him and was confused. "Hey, Callahan, the nerd herd's over there," he said pointing to Thomas' usual table. Thomas turned red. "So, Maddie, slumming today?" Blake said with a goofy grin. "How about if I pick you up on Friday about 7:00?" "Sorry, Blake. Tommy and I are going to be busy," she said staring at Blake and holding Thomas harder. "Tommy? Who's Tommy? Remember the date you promised me last week?" Blake said getting annoyed at being in this position in public. "Things change, Blake, and I'm going out with Tommy now," she said, getting angry at the scene he was causing. Blake knocked Heather's tray onto the floor and yelled, "Bullshit! Madison, I asked you very nicely, and you said yes. Now, you tell me you're going out with this doofus?" "Blake, you and I are not going to happen. Accept it and move on to your next conquest." "Fuck!" Blake took an aggressive step toward Madison like he might hit her. Thomas was no longer frightened. He stood up and looked straight into Blake's eyes. "She asked you to leave," Thomas said through gritted teeth. Blake looked around the cafeteria and asked no one in particular, "What Twilight Zone are we in?" "Just move away," Thomas said as he closed his fist. Blake grabbed his shirt, made a fist and said, "How about if I move your face between your butt cheeks, Shithead?" "Nielsen! What in the sam-holy-hell do you thing you're doing?" yelled Coach Pratt, the head football coach from across the cafeteria. "Are you gonna throw your whole football career away over some girl?" Coach Pratt was standing next to Blake now. He turned to Madison and said, "Sorry, Miss, I didn't mean anything insulting by that remark." He turned back to Blake. "Let him go or kiss your scholarship good-bye. NOW!!" Blake let Thomas go but said menacingly, "We'll have to finish this later." "No. You're not finishing one damned thing," Coach said. "In fact, you're going to make it your mission in life to make sure no harm comes to this boy. Do you hear me? If any student lays a hand on Callahan, I'm holding you personally responsible, Nielsen." Blake started to protest. "Personally responsible! Do I make myself crystal clear?" Coach said, looking right into Blake's eyes. Blake knew he was beaten. He looked down and answered, "Yes, Coach." "Good! Everybody get back to whatever the hell it was you were doing!" Blake walked dejectedly away to the football table, which erupted in conversation. Thomas unclenched his fist and sat back down. The cheerleaders were agape. Madison kissed Thomas on the cheek and turned to the group and asked, "Any more questions?" The girls looked at each other and began talking about the things they usually talked about. Madison squeezed Thomas' hand under the table and leaned on his shoulder. The kids at the nerd table stood and gave Thomas a standing ovation, which brought a much needed round of raucous laughter throughout the cafeteria. Madison felt giddy about going out with Thomas. Regardless of whether anyone else understood it or not, she loved the way Thomas looked at her and how he made her feel. They spent so much time at Uncle Bill's that Terry said they might as well adopt the two of them. Missy began to think of herself as Maddie's horse. Thomas and Madison became inseparable. Over time, the cheerleaders accepted him as a regular boyfriend. He was welcome at parties and on group dates. The other girls might have been going out with jocks, but Thomas became a genuine member of the group. For awhile, he was torn between different worlds. To the nerd herd, however, he was a hero. He was proof that it was possible to escape to the other side, and they wished him nothing but good luck. Interestingly, as time wore on, more of Madison's friends picked guys who were more than muscles. They looked for guys that could become friends as well as boyfriends. Madison and Thomas often had Olympic length make-out sessions. Thomas had become quite a good kisser, and they would ride into the hills, find a shady spot near some water and grass for the horses, spread out a blanket and hug and kiss for hours. Thomas even graduated to second base on a couple of occasions and relished holding Maddie's perfect breasts. They were firm and satiny, and they sagged just enough to accentuate her trim waist. Her dark skin was the perfect backdrop for her large russet nipples. He kissed them a few times but usually ended up staining his shorts not long after his tongue met her pert brunette buds. Still, for that time in Madison's life, Thomas was the best pal she could hope to find. With Thomas' help, Maddie finished her senior year with straight As, and they were both accepted to State. Thomas, of course, was pursuing a career in chemistry or chemical engineering. Madison decided to explore college for awhile until her passion was unearthed. Life would take another turn for them sophomore year. Thomas' new roommate was a laid-back dude from California who was into Eastern philosophy. Thomas liked him immediately. Madison's new roommate, Kate Merriman, was a quiet transfer student from Tech, but Madison was soon able to get her out of her shell long enough to learn that she was another science geek. Maddie was certainly comfortable with them and knew she and Kate would get along great. The beginning of fall semester was a whirlwind. Tons of frats and sororities were pledging new members. Clubs galore were also looking for associates. There were loads of parties. Madison's Mom had been a Kappa Delta, and Madison promised her she would actually go to one of their rush parties even if she decided not to join. "Kate, since I promised my mom I'd go to this rush party, why don't you come along with Tommy and me?" Madison asked, fearing that Kate would be sitting home alone. "Thanks for the offer, Maddie, but I kind of have a date." "Really? That's great!" Madison said with a big smile. "I didn't think you had time to meet anyone." "I didn't really. The guy's a friend of my brother, and Mike has always been very protective of me," she said with a smile. "He even finds me dates in college. How many big brothers do that?" "Not many, Kate. That's very cool. I'm going with Tommy, so you can bring your date along if you'd like. I mean, if you're interested in seeing what a sorority's like." "I don't know. Maybe. I'll ask him when he gets here," Kate said. "What's his name?" Madison's question was interrupted by a knock at the door. Maddie opened the door and stood there in shock. "Blake?" He was just as surprised. "Maddie?" Kate was also surprised. "You two know each other?" No one knew what to say or do. Finally, Madison moved so Blake could enter the room. She looked at Kate and said, "Blake and I went to the same high school. I haven't seen him since he graduated." "It's good to see you, Maddie," he said with a smile. Then, he went over to Kate and sat next to her on the bed. Madison, still in shock, closed the door and sat across from them on her own bed. "So, how've you been, Blake?" "You know, hanging in there. What about you? You still dating Thomas?" She expected to see some fire in his eyes, but it wasn't there. "Yes. He's here at State as well. In fact, he'll be here in a few minutes. We're going to a rush party together." Blake smiled. "Great! That's so cool that you guys stuck together. I'm really happy for you." Madison studied his face and she was surprised to see that he really meant it. He seemed so different. Another knock at the door made Madison jump. She opened it for Thomas. He stepped into the room with a smile, but it quickly faded when he saw Blake sitting on the bed with Kate. Blake stood and walked over to shake his hand. Thomas took one instinctive step back before Blake reached him. "Hey, Thomas. Good to see you, man. Small world, huh?" Blake said. "Uhm ... yeah. Small world," Thomas said slowly as he sat next to Madison. Kate looked at Blake and said, "Maddie invited us to go to the rush party with them if you want. I didn't know what you had planned." "Campus is full of parties tonight. I've got an 11:00 curfew cause of the game tomorrow against BYU. I'm up for just about anything. I hear the food is way better at the sororities than at the frats." "OK," Kate said. "Let's go." She and Blake led the way out of the door. Madison and Thomas looked at each other with open mouths, shrugged and walked out behind them. The KD house was like the other houses, bathed in bright lights and had plenty of music blaring out of it. They were greeted by one of the student hostesses. Kate was given a yellow prospective pledge pin and Madison was given a red legacy pin. The four of them got something to eat and drink and mingled a bit. The ended up in the dining room, which had been converted to a dance hall. Dancing was not Thomas strong suit, but he figured that as long as he was with Madison he would look cool no matter what he danced like. Kate was also a bit awkward, but she really got into dancing. When the band took a short break, they refilled their drinks and headed to the huge wraparound porch. Not long after they sat down, the band started back. "C'mon," Kate said to Blake. "Do you mind if we take a break?" he asked. "I want to dance! How about you, Thomas? Are you up for another round?" "Yeah, but ..." "It's okay," Madison assured him. "I'm enjoying the breeze here on the porch. You two go knock 'em dead." Thomas and Kate grabbed hands and headed back inside. "Whew! I never expected Kate to be a dance machine," Madison said. Blake laughed. "Me neither." "So, how did you two meet?" she asked. "I don't know if you went to the games last year, but I blew my knee out in the second game of the season and had to have surgery." "Yeah, I read about all that in the Chronicle." "Anyway, Kate's brother is in school to become an athletic trainer, so I got to know him pretty well in rehab. He was worried that Kate would dive into her books again and miss out on college life completely, so he asked if I would take her out." "Why'd he pick you?" "He said I was the only one he could trust. Me. Shocker, huh?" Madison smiled. "You do seem ... different, Blake. I guess college suits you." He sat back in his chair. "Maybe, but after my Mom died, I don't know. Something changed inside of me, Maddie." "I heard about that. I'm so sorry, Blake. I can't imagine losing my mom." "It was really rough. It's weird, you know, in high school, everything seemed to be about being tough and popular. Then, something like that happens, and you realize what shit all that other stuff really is. You recognize what the really important things in life are, and it's not who can drink the most beer or go to bed with the most girls." He stopped and turned to look at Madison. "I look back at high school and realize what a class A butt hole I was most of the time. I still cringe when I think about embarrassing you in the cafeteria that day. I'm really sorry about that, Maddie. I wish I could take it all back," Blake said. She found herself momentarily getting lost in his dark good looks and in his sparkling green eyes. "That's ancient history, Blake. I haven't thought about that in ages." Madison always had defenses in place when it came to Blake. He was either the stud, the macho shithead, or some other equally distasteful version of the type of guy she hated. Now, however, he seemed so different her defenses were disappearing. His eyes made her feel tingly inside. Thomas and Kate burst through the door sweating from their dance revolution. "We could use some fresh drinks!" Kate said with a big smile. "That I can handle," Blake said, and he jumped up to get a fresh round of drinks for all of them. About 10:30, they thanked the hostesses and headed for the athlete's dorm to drop off Blake. "Good luck tomorrow," Madison called after him as he walked up the driveway. "Are you coming to the game?" Blake asked. The three of them looked at each other and shrugged. "No. We didn't stand in line for tickets," Madison answered. "Okay. Wait right here." Blake instructed as he turned and ran into the dorm. He emerged a few minutes later with three tickets in his hand. "They always give us a bunch of tickets for family and friends. I got these from Kiner since his dad's a big donor. He never uses all his tickets, and they are great seats," he said as he handed them to Thomas. "Wow ... 40-yard-line!" Thomas exclaimed. "Thanks, Blake!" "Thanks, Blake," Madison said. "Thanks, Blake," Kate said, giving him a quick kiss good-bye. Madison didn't want to admit it, but that kiss made her a little envious. Blake waved and ran back inside. The three friends walked around campus for awhile. Thomas walked the girls to their dorm and then headed for his. The kick-off was at 1:30, so they decided to meet at 11:00 so they could get a seat in a restaurant somewhere. They were all excited. This was their first big-time college sporting event, and the campus was on fire. At the game, Thomas sat between the two girls. He was in heaven. Kate didn't know very much about football, so he spent a lot of time explaining what was happening. Madison didn't mind. She was watching Blake on the field. When he got hurt the previous year, Kevin Palmer took over at quarterback. Palmer had been the designated starter until the new hot shot freshman rolled into town. A lot of people thought he would take the starting job back permanently. But, Blake worked very, very hard in rehab to be ready for spring practice. He was such a gifted athlete that his talent quickly lifted him above Palmer on the depth chart. On Madison's Avenue In the BYU game, a couple of special team blunders put State behind by 21 at the half. Blake had not been able to crack the zone scheme BYU was using on defense, and State's running game was going nowhere. During halftime, the coaches talked about their options. They decided to stick with Blake at quarterback, but they were going to make a couple of adjustments. They decided to run multiple curl patterns into the seams of the zone to tighten up the defense. Then, they were going to use their All-American sprint champion receiver, Damian Gray, and Blake's NFL-strength arm to try and catch the BYU defense napping. The first sequence worked better than even the coaches expected. Blake called a series of seven and eight yard curls and moved the ball to the BYU 40-yard-line. Then, on a third and short, he sent Damon on a fly pattern. The pocket held and Blake sent a perfect spiral over the heads of the defenders and into the waiting hands of Gray, who sprinted untouched into the end zone. Blake mixed and matched plays all afternoon and kept the defense guessing. By the end of the third quarter, State and BYU were tied at 21. The fourth quarter was all Nielsen and Gray. They worked in combo to stretch the defense, which opened up holes and allowed tailback Greg Pressley to pile up rushing yards. When the final horn sounded, State celebrated a 42 to 21 victory. There were parties all over campus for the team. Blake suggested going to the Cavaliers Club party since there would be dancing and it wouldn't be completely crazy. The four of them had a great time, which is always a lot easier to do when you win. Blake, of course, was the hero and spent a lot of time shaking hands with alums. Kate and Thomas hit the dance floor. Madison laughed watching Thomas and Kate in their own version of dance fever. They looked like the star pupils at the Elaine Benes Dance Studio. When Blake had talked himself hoarse, he excused himself and came over to sit next to Madison. "You're certainly the conquering hero," she said with a smile. "That's because we won. Next week, we play Colorado. There might not be as much to celebrate next weekend, so everyone's getting it all out now," he said laughing. "That doesn't sound like the Blake Nielsen I know. Admitting the possibility of defeat? I'm shocked," she teased. "I didn't say we would lose," he said shaking his finger at her. "I just said there might not be as much to celebrate ... a closer victory, in other words." She laughed. "That sounds more like it." Over the next couple of weeks, the couples spent more time together than apart. State had a road game at UNLV, so the other three went to the Student Union to watch the game on one of several big screens placed around the building. As before, Kate and Thomas spent most of the time talking to each other and Madison was glued to the game. Late in the fourth quarter, Blake was blindsided by a late hit and went down hard. Madison jumped up and covered her mouth with her hands. Thomas and Kate didn't even notice until they saw her and react. State ended up losing the game by three points. When the team arrived at the airport around 11:00, the three friends were there to greet them. Madison was the first person to rush up and greet Blake. He had a brace on his knee and was using one crutch but he said he was fine. The coaches and trainers thought he'd be ready for the next game since the team had a bye next Saturday. The four of them went to an all-night diner on the outskirts of town. They sat in a booth with Kate next to Blake facing Thomas next to Madison. The four of them made small talk about the game and whatever else popped into their heads. There was a tension among them that hadn't existed before. Madison excused herself to go to the bathroom, and Kate said she would go as well. Thomas and Blake sat across from each other forcing smiles and saying nothing. "Good thing Blake didn't get hurt badly," Madison said to Kate as they fixed themselves up in the mirror. "Yeah. That would have been a tragedy," she replied. They suddenly turned to each other and said each other's names simultaneously. "You go first," Madison said. "Ok. I don't even know how to say this, Maddie. You are such a great and cool roommate. I could never ask for anyone better." Madison watched her intensely to see where this was going. "It's just that ... God, I can't even get the words out!" Kate said as she threw her hands up in the air. "It's okay, Kate. I love you too. Just say it," Madison reassured her. Kate turned and was trembling. She said in a squeaky voice, "I-I think I'm falling for Thomas." She looked up into Madison's eyes expecting to see daggers. Instead, she saw a tiny smile and a tear roll down Madison's cheek. "Oh, God, Maddie, I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you," Kate said hugging her roommate. Kate started crying on Madison's shoulder. "Hey ... Hey ... Kate it's okay. These aren't tears of hurt. They're tears of relief," Madison said holding her. Kate stopped crying and pulled away from Madison so she could look at her. "Relief?" "Kate, I love Thomas in a way that will last a lifetime. He will always hold a special place in my heart. But, I've come to realize I'm not IN love with him. It didn't really hit me until that night on the porch at the KD House. While you were falling for Tommy, I was falling for the new and improved Blake." "Really?" Kate asked through her sniffles. "Really. He tried to get something going in high school, but I thought he was a big jerk. Now, though, he's different. He's grown up. He's ..." "Hot?" Kate finished her thought with a smile. Madison chuckled. "Yeah ... way hot." She hugged Kate again and said, "Sweetie, you need to fix your make-up. It's a mess." Kate laughed and went to work. When Kate was about ready to go out, she asked, "So, what do we do about those two out there?" "Whatever seems natural," Madison said with a smile. The two women came out of the bathroom arm in arm. "Thomas and I were about to lead a rescue party," Blake said as they walked toward the booth. Madison sat next to Blake and kissed him. Kate sat next to Thomas and kissed him. The two guys looked up in shock and turned to each other. "Hey, man, I had nothing to do ..." Thomas started to assure Blake. "Me either, dude ..." Blake began to respond. Madison and Kate looked at each other and broke into hysterics looking at the expressions on their men's faces. "What's going on?" Blake asked with a confused look on his face. Madison started by taking Thomas' hands in hers. "We just decided things were not in their natural order. Tommy, I will love you until the day I die. I mean that with all my heart. You and your whole family are the most special people in the world to me. But, I came to realize that I'm not in love with you, and after watching you for the past few weeks with Kate, I don't think you're in love with me either." "Maddie, I ..." She put her finger to his lips and shushed him. "Thomas I don't ever want you out of my life ... ever. But, I also want you to fall happily, hopelessly, helplessly in love. I think Kate may be the one. I've seen the way you look at each other. You and I never had that, and I want that for you more than anything." Thomas looked at Kate. She said, "She's right. I am falling in love with you, Thomas Callahan." "Really?" he said staring into the sapphire pools of her eyes. "Really," she purred. They kissed slowly and deeply and hugged each other. Blake had been watching all of this in amazement. "I'm not in anyone's way, am I?" Madison ran her hand through his silky dark brown curls and answered, "Yeah, you are being a real pest, Mr. Quarterback." Then, she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him feverishly. Though he was stunned, he was not dead, and he responded heartily. When they came up for air, he said in a squeaky voice, "Check!" That made everyone howl with laughter. Blake cleared his throat and asked for the check in his most masculine voice. The athletes had private bedrooms and every single one of them were experts at getting girls in and out of the building unnoticed. Madison snuck to Blake's room, which left the dorm free for Kate and Thomas. Once Blake and Madison were alone, she immediately started unbuttoning his shirt. When she tossed it to the side of the room, she stood back for a moment to take in his beauty. "Wow! Do you even know how to define body fat?" she marveled. Blake just grinned. The pants were a bit trickier with knee brace. Blake explained that he just needed to wear it for a few days as a precaution. They worked together to get the rest of his clothes off and to put the brace back on. Madison was practically licking her lips looking at the long, meaty toy Blake sported between is thighs. Just the thought of being naked with Madison James at last made him rock hard. She knew it was going to be a stretch to get him inside her, but she was dripping already just thinking about it. Blake watched as she slowly removed her clothes. She teased and tortured him by moving at a snail's pace and by rubbing her shirt lightly over his turgid cock. When she got to her bra, Blake held his breath. Once the garment was off, he whispered, "Oh, fuck, Maddie." She turned her ass toward him and slid off her white lacy thong and tossed it on the pile of clothes on the floor. She turned and presented herself to him. "What do you think? Was it worth the wait?" she asked. Blake's mouth was so dry, he could hardly talk. "My, God, Maddie. You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life." His eyes scanned every inch of her dark, perfect form. From the shiny hair falling in front of her face to her round, firm tits, to her hourglass hips and trim muscular legs, to the dark oasis of her pussy. She was shaved except for a dark strip above her vagina, and Blake was so excited he felt lightheaded. "I hope we can make love several times 'cause I'm gonna blow in three seconds the first time," he warned. Madison was so wet; she wanted to slide on top of him immediately. Her heart was pounding in her ears. "This may take a couple of minutes," she explained as she aimed his massive pole at her opening. She closed her eyes and began working him slowly into her. She used small in-and-out motions to allow her slick canal to adjust to his girth. Though Blake's cock was wide, its head was only slightly bigger than its shaft, which made it easier to maneuver him inside. Slowly, inch-by-inch, she moved down on him. He was concentrating as hard as he possibly could on not cumming instantly. When she finally had him in all the way, she looked at him and smiled. "Jesus, Blake, I've never been completely full of cock before. You feel amazing!" Madison moved up and down on his scorching, indestructible shaft and felt her pussy stretch and release more liquid in response. In about one minute, Blake stiffened and sent the first of a series of pulses into her. Madison closed her eyes and held her breath so she could concentrate on the feeling. White cream squirted out the side of her sodden channel as she slowed. "I'm gonna stay right here, kissing you and letting you suck my tits until you're hard again. Then, we'll pick up where we just left off," she said before devouring Blake in a passionate kiss. He held her tight so he wouldn't slip out of her heavenly cavern. They kissed for about ten minutes when Madison felt something poking her cervix. She realized he was fully erect inside her again. Blake then managed to use his strength to roll Maddie onto her back by moving in the direction of his good knee. He kept his injured knee straight and on the floor. He looked down at her and said, "God, Maddie, you don't know how long ..." She interrupted him by putting her hand over his lips. "I know. Just make love to me." Blake used every skill and maneuver he had ever learned to make wild love to this angel. He kissed her and pinched her nipples while he pounded away at her sex. Maddie hooked her ankles around his taut body and moved with him. He was so big that her clit was ravished with every passage in and out. She came twice before he reached his climax. Each of her orgasms was bigger than the one before. Her clit never had time to recover as the assault continued. She felt his heavy balls slap into her. She had never felt more like a woman than right now with this Adonis moving inside her. As her third orgasm hit, she felt him grow and stretch her even more. She prepared herself for the series of explosions. When the first blast of scalding cum plowed into her cervix, she ignited into the most explosive orgasm of her life. Waves of pleasure washed over her in torrents. She came so hard she saw sparkles. When they finally reached the end, Blake collapsed on top of her in a sweaty heap. She released her ankles, and he rolled over on his back, panting. As his softening manhood finally pulled out of her, the bed was flooded with fluid. He pulled her onto his lean muscular chest. She laid her head over his heart and listened to the slowing rhythm. When he recovered enough to talk, he lifted her up so they could look in each other's eyes. "Maddie, I know this may sound crazy since this is really just our first date, but promise me you'll never leave me." "Blake, I ..." "Please promise me," he said with the desperate pleading look of a little boy. Her heart broke in a million pieces looking at him. She swallowed hard and said, "Blake, I will never leave you. But, you have to promise me the same thing, you know." He pulled her back to his chest and hugged her hard and replied, "That's like promising that I'll continuing breathing. As corny as it sounds, I would marry you tonight if you'd be stupid enough to have me." "Let's take this one step at a time," she said. Then, she rose up and looked at him and put her hand to his cheek. "But, I can promise you that I don't plan on going anywhere. Especially not when I can have this whenever I want," she said grinning and holding his damp, flaccid dick in her hand. "Then, is it okay if I say I love you?" he asked with those same little boy eyes. "Yeah. It's okay. And, for the record, I love you too," she said as she bent down to give him a gentle kiss. "You know, the people back home are gonna wonder what took us so long," she said laying her head down again on his chest. He held her close. "I guess some roads just take longer to get to their destinations," he replied. "Kind of like dicks," she said laughing and tugging on his penis, which was, again, rising to the occasion. He wrapped his strong arms around her and started tickling her. She giggled and tried to get away, but it was impossible. Finally, he released her and said, "Well, I'm ready for the next round if you are." She looked in his eyes and answered, "Yeah." Then she added, "I'm just glad that road of mine finally brought me to you." The End
