He and his mom moved in next door; and they were invited over for a play date. My twin sister, Kylie, took one look at him and said, "ew, boy", and went to our room. He and I got along very well, and became friends instantly. Most people called him Jimmy, but when I got upset because I didn't have a nickname, he told me that I could call him James, so that neither of us had a nickname. When we got to Kindergarten, another boy teased him because his best friend was a girl. "Girls are gross, you can't have one as a best friend. You have to choose between us and her," the boy told him. "If I have to choose between you and Kayla, I choose Kayla," James told the boy and took my hand as we walked away. That began my lifelong love affair with James. We remained friends all through elementary school. In middle school, James began playing football, and gained some new popular friends. I continued to hang out with him, but our group dynamic changed. It was no longer just the two of us. My sister began hanging out with us, because boys were no longer gross, and brought her friends with her. He gained some friends from football, and we became a group of about twelve that hung out together. As he became more and more popular, we hung out less and less. He still was the nice guy, who let me call him James, because I didn't have a nickname, even though he became king of the school due to his football prowess. As each year went by, I grew more and more in love with him. Even though we have known each other basically our whole lives, our true story doesn't begin until the summer after we graduated high school. __________________ I was staring. I knew I was staring, but I couldn't keep my eyes off of them. James had been talking to my sister Kylie on the front porch for 10 minutes. What could they be talking about for that long? Granted, Kylie was doing most of the talking, but James wasn't stopping her. He was listening. Finally, he stepped back and headed towards his house next door. I moved away from the window and went back to the kitchen table and pretended to read the newspaper that was spread out. Kylie came back inside and went to the refrigerator to get a drink. "Hey Kylie," I said as casual as I could, "what did James want?" "Nothing really. He just wanted to talk," She said as she opened a can of Diet Coke. "I think he likes me. I mean, why else would he come over just to talk. Amber did tell me that he mentioned trying to get up the courage to ask me out." "Really?" I said trying not to sound too shocked. "Are you going to say yes?" "I haven't decided yet. I mean he is gorgeous, but we are going to different schools in the fall. It would just be a summer fling." Kylie decided to end the conversation there by walking out of the room, leaving me in my misery. I have had a crush on James for as long as I could remember. We have been good friends our entire lives. I didn't want to be the one to ruin that by professing my love and being rejected. And there is no doubt that I would be rejected, especially if Kylie was his type. Kylie and I may be twins, but we looked nothing alike. Where she was thin and athletic, I was curvy and a bookworm. We had slightly similar features, but they looked vastly different on our frames. She was going to the local state college on a track scholarship. I, on the other hand, got an academic scholarship to Notre Dame. James was going to Notre Dame with me, on a football scholarship. He was the epitome of a high school football god. He was tall, dark, and gorgeous; and completely out of my league. He had dated the prettiest girls in the school, he was the most popular kid in our graduating class, and everybody loved him. Even though he ruled the school, he was never mean or cliquey. He was an all around nice guy, which just made me like him more. If James were to reject me, I am sure he would do it in a nice way, but I know that would just make me feel worse. I needed to get him off my mind. I decided to head outside to check the mail before our parents came home from work. It was summer break before we all went off to college, and we had decided to spend the entire summer with all our friends at the beach to have some great memories to take to college with us. As I reached the mailbox, James popped up out of nowhere. "Hey Kayla!" He said. "Oh my god!" I exclaimed, pressing my hand against my chest. "Don't do that. Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" "Sorry," James said. "I was trying to catch you earlier. Kylie said you weren't home." "Huh, that's weird. I've been home all day. I wonder why she said that." "I don't know... Anyway, a couple of the guys are planning a trip to the beach tomorrow morning. They are planning on spending the entire day there. I was wondering if you wanted to come." "Yea sure, that sounds like fun," I said as I grabbed the mail out of the box. "I wonder why Kylie didn't tell me." "I figured we could go together," He said seemingly ignoring my question. "How about you swing by in the morning and we can take my car?" "Sure. What times should we be there?" "9. And it's just you and me. Kylie told me she is heading there later with some of the other girls. They don't like to get up that early." "Right. 9 sounds good. I'll see you tomorrow." I started heading back towards the house. "Wait..." James said jogging up next to me. "Maybe we could have breakfast at my house before we go." "Am I going to have to make this breakfast?" I asked skeptically. "Nope. I'll make breakfast." He said with his chest out. "Cereal?" I said in a mocking tone. "No, real breakfast. Eggs, or pancakes, or french toast. Something hot. I promise." "Sounds yummy. I can't wait." I said as we reached the front porch. "Great. I'll see you tomorrow." James hesitated for a second, like he wanted to to say something else, but then headed back towards his house. --- I woke up early the next morning. I was too excited to stay asleep. I was going to spend some time with James without my sister around. She always made sure she was between the two of us. I showered and shaved; making sure I would look nice in my bathing suit. It only took two minutes to walk over to James' house. I walked in the back door, like I had been doing since I was in elementary school. His mom was in the kitchen gathering her stuff in her purse. "Good morning Ms. Morgan. How are you doing?" I said to James' mother as I walked in. "Good morning Kayla. I am doing well. How are you? Enjoying your summer?" "Very much." "Well I'm off to work. Tell Jimmy that breakfast has come and gone. I'll see you later." She said as she walked out the door. "Bye." I headed up the stairs to James' bedroom. The door was slightly open, and I could see that he was still in bed. I walked in and turned on the lights. "Rise and shine, sleepyhead. Your mom said breakfast has come and gone." I walked over to his bed and sat down beside him. "You know, you really need to work on your bedside manner," James said as he turned over towards me. "Well I'm not planning on becoming a doctor, so I don't have to worry about that. What happened to us having breakfast?" "Breakfast is still on the agenda." James said as he pulled me into bed with him. "What are you doing?" I gasped as I rolled into his body. "I'm helping you relax." "Who says I need to relax," I asked as I inched away from him. "It's a figure of speech," he said pulling me back towards him. "No it's not." "Maybe I just want to spend some time alone with you. We never get to chat just the two of us anymore." I didn't know what to say. It was true we hadn't had many conversations just the two of us in a while, but I hadn't realized he'd noticed. He seemed content being surrounded by our other friends, especially our female friends. Finally I found my voice and spoke. "That's true." "So what do you want to talk about?" I don't know why I said what I said next, but I couldn't stop myself. "Are you going to ask Kylie out?" James' brow wrinkled with confusion. "Like on a date?" "Yes." "No. Why would you think that?" He lifted himself up onto his elbow to look at me while I answered. "Kylie told me Amber told her that she overheard you saying you were working up the courage to ask her out." I said quickly and softly, hoping it wasn't true. "Well Amber heard wrong. I have no interest in asking Kylie out," he said firmly. "Why not? She's beautiful." "She's not my type." I gulped. "What is your type?" He looked right into my eyes as he said, "You." I couldn't speak. I couldn't breathe. Had he really just said that? He continued to look at me, waiting for a response. "Me?" I finally croaked out. He smiled. "Yes, you. It's always been you." He reached his hand up, and touched my face. I was just staring at him, still not believing what I was hearing. James liked me, and apparently had for a while. "Are you going to say something?" He asked. "I would really like to kiss you right now, but I am worried about morning breathe." "I brushed my teeth be-" I cut him off with a kiss before he could get anything else out. He stayed still for a moment and then he kissed me back. And what a kiss it was. It was like he was devouring me. He brought his body on top of mine. I couldn't believe this was happening. His body felt amazing pressed up against mine. We both moaned at the same time. His hands started to travel down my body. I felt self-conscious at first, but then it felt so good that I forgot to care. One of his hands found its way under my shirt. The feel of skin on skin was unbelievable. "You feel amazing," James said as he moved his kisses down to my neck. I moaned louder than I thought possible when his tongue ran across the base of my neck. My body automatically thrust up against his. His hand moved up and grazed the bottom of my breast. James pulled himself up onto his elbows and looked into my eyes. "I have wanted this for a long time. Let me know if I am moving to fast." "I've wanted this too," I said putting my right hand on his cheek. I gave him a deep kiss. "Don't stop." James' light green eyes darkened to a forest green. He moved his head down to kiss me again. Those were some of the last intelligible words that came out of our mouths. For the next couple minutes there were mostly grunts and moans as we explored each other's bodies. At some point we started removing clothes. James' body was beautiful. Football had made him muscular, but also lean. I stifled a moan as I ran my hand down his torso. I hesitated for a moment when I reached his pajama pants, but I couldn't stop myself from touching him. My hand went inside his pants and I touched him over his underwear. A groan escaped his lips. I stilled my hand when I heard him. "Don't stop," he whispered. I grew bolder with his words, and wrapped my hand around his erection and slowly began stroking up and down. A strangled groan came from the back of his throat. He let me stroke him a couple more times, before he stilled my hand. I looked at him, wondering what I had done wrong. "I don't want this to end before it starts," he explained. I smiled, proud that I had caused him to almost lose control. I decided to take that confidence, and say what I really wanted to say. "Then let's get started." I reached down and began pushing his pants off his hips. Once his were off, I started on mine. He just leaned back on his knees and watched me. I was not used to this sort of attention, but the look in his eyes was giving me all the confidence in the world. I stripped off all of my clothes, saying a silent prayer that I had decided to wear a bikini, so that we were both completely naked. We took a moment to just stare at each other. "You are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen," he said as his eyes roamed my body. "James..." His eyes returned to mine. "I want..." "Are you sure? I don't want to rush you. I know that you're a --" "Yes, I'm sure," I answered, cutting him off. I couldn't wait another moment for him to be inside of me. James reached over to his bedside table and pulled a condom out of the top drawer. I watched him roll it over his strained erection. Then his eyes, again, returned to mine. He kissed me deeply, with so much passion I thought I would burst. I felt his erection at my entrance. He slowly inched in. "Oh god," James moaned. My voice was caught in my throat. He was stretching me more than I ever felt possible. It was a weird feeling at first, having someone else inside of you. When he was all the way in, he paused. His breathing was labored. "Are you okay?" He asked, trying to read the expression on my face. I was unable to form words, so I just nodded. He checked my eyes one more time before kissing me again. Then he began to thrust and all thought left me. My body felt tingly as James ignited all my nerve endings. He whispered amazingly romantic and erotic words as he thrusted into my body over and over. I was experiencing a sensory overload. I couldn't control the moans, groans, and other noises that were coming from me. "Oh, James...oh, please..." I kept pleading, but I didn't know what for. I just knew that I needed him to keep going. I grabbed at his body, trying to hold on. "Kayla...baby...oh fuck..." James groaned against my neck. He then planted kisses along my neck and jaw, before making his way back to my lips. He pressed a hard kiss to my mouth. "James...I'm...I'm going to..." I wasn't able to finish that sentence. My orgasm overtook my body and a scream ripped from me. James continued to thrust, which drew out my orgasm, and triggered his. After a few more thrusts he stiffened above me and moaned out my name. It sounded so wonderful coming out of him in a groan. He half collapsed on top of me. He didn't put all his weight on me, but what weight was on me felt wonderful. I felt so close to him. After a moment he lifted himself up and looked into my eyes. He brushed some air off of my face and left his hand on my cheek. He placed a soft kiss to my lips. "That was--" He started. "Amazing," I finished. A huge smile came across his face. "Amazing," He reiterated. He withdrew from my body and threw the condom into the trash can next to the bed. I felt empty now that he was gone. He laid onto his back and pulled me half on him. "I have wanted to do that for a long time." He admitted. "Why didn't you ever say anything?" I asked looking into his eyes. James stayed quiet for a bit. He looked at me and then up at the ceiling. "I was nervous. I was scared. I enjoy spending time with you and I was worried that it would ruin our friendship. If I said something, and you didn't feel the same way, I figured it would be awkward for us to hang out together. I had finally decided that I didn't care if it was awkward, I couldn't keep quiet anymore, but that was just this past summer. I didn't want to start something and then us end up at different colleges, and never see each other again. I didn't want this to be temporary, I don't want this to be temporary. Then when I found out we were both going to Notre Dame, I decided that I would ask you to prom, but--" "But then we all decided to go as a group, instead of have dates," I finished for him. I thought back to a couple months before when we were all talking about prom. When the topic of going as a group was brought up I was happy, because I didn't want to have to worry about finding a date. I didn't want to worry about how I would feel seeing James go with someone else. Then I asked myself, how did we come to that conclusion. Someone had brought it up. It had been Kylie who had brought it up, and Amber, her best friend, had jumped on the idea. Had they planned that? Had they known James was going to ask me, and they wanted to make sure that didn't happen? No, they couldn't have. I didn't even know he liked me, how would they know. "So that is why I never said anything," James said, interrupting my thoughts. "What about you?" "Honestly, I didn't think you were interested in me, and I didn't want to make a fool of myself by saying something." The last part came out in a whisper. I kept my eyes down. James lifted my face, and drew my eyes towards his. He planted a soft kiss on my lips. "I know I am doing this backwards, but I would like you to be my girlfriend, and I would like to take you on a proper date." "That definitely is backwards. We have sex, then you ask me to be your girlfriend, then you ask me on a date." "Yep." "Okay then, yes I would love to go on a date with you." James smiled and then he kissed me again. His phone buzzed. "We are so late for the beach," he said looking at the clock. He checked his phone and sent a reply to whoever it was. "We should probably head out." We reluctantly got out of bed. We showered, separately. When I got downstairs after my shower, I found James making breakfast. I stopped at the bottom of the stairs and just watched him. He was making french toast, my favorite. He must have heard my footsteps, because he turned to look at me. He gave me a huge smile. "I promised you breakfast." He stuffed me with french toast before we headed to the beach. All the guys were there when we arrived. Some were lounging on chairs, others were setting up for some beach volleyball. Since it was already 11 o-clock I expected to see some of the girls there, but there were none. We grabbed the chairs from the car and headed towards them. "It's about time you showed up. Where have you been?" Sam shouted at us. "Where are the girls?" James asked for me. "They decided to head to the mall instead. Just us guys today. Well, us guys and Kayla." He said gesturing towards me. "Why aren't you at the mall with the rest of the girls?" "Because I don't feel like spending 3 hours staring at one top. Are we going to play some volleyball or what?" I said dropping my stuff and heading towards the net. As I walked away I heard Sam ask James, "they didn't invite her, did they?" No, they hadn't. But I wasn't going to let that bother me. I preferred spending time with the guys. They were nicer, at least to me. "Are we going to play volleyball, or just gossip all day," I yelled over to them. "Just for that we are playing girls vs boys," James called back. "Well that doesn't seem very fair, there are way more of you girls than me," I shot back at him. He smiled and started running towards me. I saw the playful look in his eye, and immediately dropped my stuff and began running away. I knew if he caught me, I would end up dumped into the water, whether I had my bag with me or not. He eventually caught me, and threw me in the ocean. I toweled off a bit, but mostly let the sun dry me as I helped my team lose horrifically at volleyball. This was why Kylie got the athletic scholarship, and I did not. When everyone took a break for lunch, I went back to James' car to call my mom. "Hi Mom," I said when she picked up. "Hi Kayla, what's going on?" "I just wanted to give you a heads up about tonight. I will not be home for dinner." "Ok, thanks. Where will you be?" "I will be on date...with James," I answered, trying to not let the fact that I couldn't stop smiling affect my voice. There was a pause on the other end. "With James? Really? Well it's about time," my mom said with her smile coming through loud and clear. "When did this happen?" "This morning." "Well that is just great, honey. I am so happy for you," There was a noise on the other end. "I'm sorry honey, I have to run to a meeting. Can we talk more about this tonight, before you leave?" He Chose Me Ch. 01 "Of course. I was hoping you could help me pick out what to wear." "Definitely. I will see you tonight." She hung up, and I just sat there with the phone in my hand for a moment. "It's about time". I knew that I had been waiting for this moment for a long time, but I didn't think my mom had been waiting as well. It was a great feeling that my mom was just as excited as I was. I had always been close to her, but a part of me felt like she didn't get me some times, because she was beautiful and had been popular in high school. My sister looked just like her, and I looked more like my dad. But still, I could always talk to her, about anything. She was my closest female friend, which might be embarrassing, since I'm 18, but it was the truth. I sat in the backseat of James' car staring at the phone in my hand. I don't know why, but I was contemplating texting Kylie. She and I have never really been close, but it still seems like the right thing to do. She had thought that James was going to ask her out. Would she be mad when she found out? She wasn't planning on anything serious with him, so I think it will be okay. When I had finally got up the nerve to text Kylie, the car door opened. I looked up and saw James smiling down at me. "There you are," he said leaning down so that his face was at my level. "Scoot over." I moved over, and he sat down next to me. He stretched his arm behind us and curled it around my shoulder. He closed the door behind him. Even sitting down he towered over me. I looked up at him. "Hi." "Hi," He said smiling down at me. "What are you doing in here?" "I was just letting my mom know that I wouldn't be home for dinner." "Well aren't you the conscientious daughter," he teased. His hand reaches up and caressed my cheek. Then he was bringing my lips up to meet his. It was a gentle kiss that softened my insides. I placed my hand against his chest for balance, but the feel of his hard sculpted pecs caused my body to heat up quickly. I let my hand wander up and down his chest and stomach, at the same time deepening the kiss. James laid me down onto the backseat and lifted his body on top of mine. The change in position brought his finely toned cheeks into my hands. I grabbed on and pulled his pelvis closer to mine. "Oh, shit," James hissed against my lips. He was wearing swim trunks, and it was almost like there was nothing between us at all. I could feel him getting harder. I slipped my right hand into the back of his shorts, and used my left hand to bring his shirt up. I wanted his naked, as quickly as possible. James' hand slid under my shirt, and his fingertips skimmed the bottom of my breasts. Just as his hand was about to move upwards, we heard a group pass by laughing. James stilled. He pulled away from me, and straightened his clothes. "We can't do this here," he explained. I sighed, and reluctantly straightened my own clothes. As we were getting out of the car, James' phone chimed with an incoming text message. He pulled the phone out of his swim trunks and read the message. "Sam wants to know if I found you. He wants to play ocean football, and he needs both of us on the same team to make the sides even." "Doesn't matter if you are on the team, what ever side I'm on will lose." James smiled and held out his hand. "Come on." I took his hand and we walked back towards the group. We put our cell phones with our stuff and headed into the water. We played an intense game of football in the water, where again, I led my team to an enormous loss. Even with James' spectacular football abilities, he couldn't overcome my lack of ability. It was the most fun I had had with the guys in a while. Usually the games were spent with the guys trying to show off for the girls, but without them there, they just played. They didn't worry about looking like a doofus. To them, I wasn't one of the girls. I had always been one of the guys, just because we had been a group first, before the girls took interest in James, or any of the other ones. It was like we were back in elementary school, goofing around and just having fun. Around 3pm, we all parted ways. James drove us home. When we pulled into his driveway, he turned off the car and turned towards me. He rubbed his hands against his thighs. "Do you want to come in?" "Sure...but I have to be home by 5:30." James checked the time on his phone, 3:30pm. "Plenty of time," he said with a smile, then hopped out of the car. He took my hand when I rounded the car and we headed into his house. He headed straight through the kitchen and up the stairs to his bedroom. I tried to contain the huge smile that was trying to take over my face, but I wasn't doing a very good job. As soon as we entered his bedroom, he pulled me against him and kissed me passionately. I grabbed onto him and let him have his way with me. I knew that I had been waiting years to have my hands all over James' body, but the way he was possessing me told me that he had been waiting just as long. He lifted me into his arms. I am not that small of a person, but he made me feel light as a feather. His strong arms held me tight and I knew that I was safe in his arms. He sat down onto his bed and then laid back, so that I was straddling him. As he was lifting my shirt over my head, a voice called from downstairs. "Jimmy...are you here?" His mother called. James dropped his hands and sighed. "Yea, mom. Be right down," He called back. James lifted me off of his lap. I straighten out my clothing, and my hair, and stood up. James remained seated for another minute, calming down his body. Then he led the way, and we headed downstairs. "Jimmy, honey, will you help me bring the groceries in?" Ms. Morgan asked as she plopped two bags on the counter. "Sure mom," James said heading out to her car, with me trailing behind him. We unloaded all the groceries and then put them all away. "Thanks, Kayla." Ms. Morgan said. "How was your day at the beach?" "It was great. I helped my teams lose spectacularly at volleyball and football." "Well as long as you had fun," Ms. Morgan laughed. "Definitely," I said with a huge smile on my face. "Well I should be heading home. I'll see you later James. I'll be here at 7 o-clock." "Ok, see you then." James said. I gave him a quick smile and then headed out the door. He Chose Me Ch. 02 Chapter 2: James I watched Kayla leave, wanting to pull her back upstairs. Once she was gone, I turned to my mom, ready to explain everything that had happened today. Well, almost everything. "So you finally asked her out," my mom said with a smile. "Yes, I did," I said sighing. She knew everything. Well hopefully not everything. "We are going out tonight." My mom pulled me in for a big hug. "I'm so happy for you. I know how long you've wanted this." "Thanks, mom," I gasped, still squeezed against her. "Sorry," she said releasing me. "So I guess that means I'm on my own for dinner. You know what that means..." "Indian food," we said together. My mom loved Indian food, but I did not. She was kind enough to only eat it when I was out of the house. "Please make sure to keep the windows open when you eat. I want this place aired out by the time I get home." "And what time will that be?" She asked, raising her eyebrow at me. I knew what that meant. Kayla was a nice girl, and she did not want me keeping her out too late. "We will respect the curfew her parents have set, okay?" "I was just asking. I was not implying anything." "Sure you weren't," I said heading back up to my room. My relationship with my mom was a good mix of friend and parent. It had been just the two of us for my whole life. I had talked with her often about my feelings for Kayla, and she had always encouraged me to tell Kayla how I felt. It took me years, but I finally listened to her. It was agony waiting for the hours to pass. I couldn't wait to see her again. I loved every minute I spent with her. When the hours finally dwindled a bit, I showered and began getting dress. I was in my bedroom with my pants on, and nothing else, when I heard footsteps on the stairs. I knew my mom was in her room working, so it had to be Kayla coming 15 minutes early because she couldn't wait to see me either. I looked towards my open bedroom door, waiting for Kayla to come in. But it wasn't Kayla that appeared in the doorway; it was Kylie. "Hi Jimmy," she said with a smile. Her eyes traveled down my body, before slowly making their way back to mine. "What are you doing here Kylie?" I said in a slightly irritated tone. She knew Kayla was going to be here soon. She was planning something. "I just came to talk about you and Kayla. Who thought I would ever say those words?" She said with a laugh. "I know what you are doing, and I just wanted to let you know that it worked." "What am I doing?" I asked, not sure if I wanted to know the answer. "You are using Kayla to make me jealous. It's a nice idea, but it wasn't fully thought out. I know that Kayla is no real threat." "Excuse me," I asked, gripping my shirt tighter in my hand. "She is no real threat when it comes to me thinking she could actually have a shot with you. You are wasting your time with her. It's not like you are going to get anything out of it in the first place. She is never going to put out," Kylie said. "First of all, I am not going out with Kayla to make you jealous. I am going out with her because I want to. She is the one that I want, not you. Second of all, I am not interested in whether she puts out or not. I like her for who she is, not what she is willing to do sexually. And the fact that you would even say that is just wrong. She is your sister. You are supposed to make sure I treat her right, and care about her for the right reasons. I cannot believe you would say those things about her," I said, my voice getting louder as I got more and more upset with Kylie. I took a couple deep breaths, and then unclenched my fists a little. "I am not going to tell Kayla that you were here, because it would only hurt her. I think you should go, and the next time you see Kayla, you should say something nice to her, because you have just said enough hateful things for a lifetime." Kylie stared at me, shocked. When she didn't turn to leave I added, "Now get out of my room." Kylie slowly turned and walked out the door. When I heard her footsteps on the stairs I went back to getting dressed. I looked at the wrinkled dress shirt in my hands, threw it back in the to be ironed pile and got a new one from my closet. As I was buttoning the shirt up, I heard more footsteps on the stairs. This time it was Kayla. "Hey baby," I said with a huge smile on his face. "Hey..."Kayla started. She had only walked a couple of steps into his room, before stopping and turning her head back towards the doorway. "I ran into Kylie downstairs." I almost stopped breathing. I had hoped they would miss each other. I wondered if Kylie had taken my advice. "Oh, yeah?" I said, not wanting to give anything away. "Yeah. Kylie said you asked her over here to tell her that you had only asked me out to make her jealous. She said you weren't interested in me at all, and would have dumped me as soon as you slept with me." Kayla said, her emotions were unreadable on her face. I was glad I had already put on my shirt, because if it had still been in my hands I would have wrinkled it or ripped it. My fists clenched tighter than I thought was possible. I wanted to get my hands on Kylie and... "James?" Kayla said, pulling me out of my anger induced plot on her sister. She stepped towards me. "I-" I cut her off. "Kayla, you can't believe a word she says. She's just-" Kayla placed her hand on my chest. "It's okay. I know she is lying." "You do?" I asked. Her hand on my chest instantly calmed me. I unclenched my fists and placed my hands on her hips. "Of course. I know you...and I also know Kylie...and I also overheard your conversation." She said, pausing between each statement. "I'm sorry you had to hear that," I said pulling her against my body. I have no clue what it must be like to hear a family member say those things about you; especially a twin sister. I know that Kayla and Kylie have never been close, but you still assume a certain amount of love and respect should be present between them. I know Kayla didn't always agree with how Kylie behaved, but she would never say the things that Kylie had just said about her. "Are you okay?" I asked, not certain what the appropriate thing to say was. "I will be," Kayla said lifting her head off of my chest. She took my face in her hands and looked me right in the eyes. "Thank you for what you said." "I meant every word," I said before placing a kiss to her lips. She gave me a big smile, and then stepped back. "Somebody is not ready for our date," she said teasingly. "Well somebody showed up early," I teased back. She went and sat on my bed. "Well chop chop. Time's a wastin'." I quickly finished getting ready, and we headed out towards my car. I opened the door for her, and then went and got into the driver's seat. "Get ready to have your socks knocked off. This is going to be the best date of your life," I said, feeling just the slightest bit confident. "I'm holding you to that mister," she responded. We went to a local Italian restaurant. I had called ahead and asked for a table that was semi-private so that we would be able to talk. One of the things I loved about Kayla was that she was so easy to talk to. We used to talk about everything, but it felt like it had been a lifetime since we had had a real conversation. There were always other people around; especially other girls. Kayla acted differently when Kylie and the other girls were around. She didn't stand or sit as close to me as she once had. She sort of hung back from the group. When it was just us and the guys, like today, she was comfortable being right in the middle of the group. It was like we were back in elementary school, just hanging out and having fun. I missed that. As I sat across from Kayla, I couldn't help but think about how beautiful she was. Her wavy brown hair was pulled away from her face in a simple ponytail. It was her usual hair style, but tonight it looked different. She had an extra special glow about her. The dress she wore was definitely different than her usual t-shirt and jeans. It was dark green and just barely reached her knees. The dress made her caramel colored skin look irresistible. I wanted to reach across the table and stroke her bare arms. She had brought a little white sweater with her, for when it got cooler later, but she had draped it over the back of her chair when she had sat down. As I sat and looked at her, I couldn't stop thinking about how lucky I was. She had surpassed my wildest dreams. Kayla was everything I had ever wanted and more. She was smart, funny, beautiful, and sexy as hell. "James?" Kayla said pulling me out of my head. "Yeah?" "Are you okay? You spaced out there for a moment," "I'm fine. I was just thinking." "About what?" She asked putting her menu down. "You," I said. "I was thinking about how lucky I am to be here with you." Kayla smiled and picked her menu back up. "You are so silly," she said turning her attention to the menu. "What are you thinking of getting? Because I am already planning on stealing some, so you better order something I like." "You act like we've never eaten together. I know to order something you like. I learned that the hard way at that Chinese restaurant freshman year. You gave me the dirtiest look that whole night." "You ordered shrimp. You know I am allergic to shrimp. You brought that on yourself." Kayla said. "I know, and I learned my lesson. I will be getting the meat lasagna, with meat sauce." I said checking for her approval. "Sounds yummy." She said with a smile. I couldn't help but smile back at her. It was always fun sharing a meal with Kayla. She wasn't one of those girls that didn't eat on a date. She had told me once that any girl who wouldn't eat in front of you should not be trusted, because who knows what else she is hiding from you. The waiter came and took our order. Kayla ordered the Chicken Parmesan. "What time is your curfew? I promised my mom that I would be a good boy and have you home on time." I asked once the waiter had left. "Well actually my mom told me my curfew was lifted for tonight. She said to have fun and just make sure I didn't wake them when I came home." Kayla said. "Are you serious? Why would she lift your curfew?" I asked, shocked. Kayla's parents weren't that strict, but they had always been stricter than my mom. "My mom and I talked. She knew how I felt-feel about you and she told me that she wanted me to have an incredible night. She wanted me to focus on the experience of tonight and not to worry about being home at a certain time. She said she knew how much you cared about me and she trusts you to get me home safely." I didn't know what to say. Kayla and I had both had feelings for each other for a while, but didn't think the other one felt the same way. But apparently everybody else knew how we felt about each other. It felt nice to hear that her mom trusted her with me, but I wonder if she had known all that had happened today would she feel the same way. "My mom and I had a good long talk this afternoon. I will probably have to have another conversation with her tomorrow about Kylie." Kayla paused and I could tell her mind was drifting back to what she had overheard Kylie say earlier. She was definitely looking at Kylie in a different light, as was I. I knew that Kylie was mean, but I never thought her capable of such ugly words. "Kayla," I said pulling her out of her thoughts. "Are you okay?" "Yea, sorry." She said shaking her head, presumably shaking the thoughts away. "I just drifted off there. What were we talking about?" "Your talk with your mom," I said. "Yes, right. We had a good long talk," She said. "You said that." "Right. Let's just talk about something else." She was definitely distracted and it was affecting our date. I needed to do something to get her mind off of her sister and back onto us. "Do you want me to tell you what I have planned for this evening? Or would you like to be surprised?" I said with what I hoped was a sly smile. "You know I don't like surprises." "Okay then. First we have a wonderful dinner. Then we are going to go get dessert, then maybe take a walk. Then I will take you back home and deposit you on your door step with a rather long goodnight kiss." "That sounds...just about perfect." Kayla said. "Just about? How do I get that "just about" to be just perfect?" "Well," she said with a devious grin on her face. "I was thinking we could fit in some time to do a bit more than just a long goodnight kiss." I instantly hardened. I noisily swallowed the saliva that had pooled in my mouth. She licked her lips seductively when she heard it. "I think that can be arranged," I managed to say. At that moment our food arrived. "This smells great," Kayla said. It took me a moment to pull my thoughts away from all the erotic possibilities for the evening, and turn my focus towards the plate full of the best smelling lasagna I've ever had. We shifted to talking about future plans as we ate. Kayla was looking forward to Notre Dame and all the classes she would take. She was planning on majoring in mathematics, but she was planning on taking some engineering classes as well. She was ridiculously smart. While my grades were good enough to get me into Notre Dame, my athletic ability has helped me a great deal; I was a solid B+ student. I hadn't figured out what I would major in yet, but I had always enjoyed my history classes. "It will be weird having all that freedom," Kayla said. "Yea," I replied. "I know that my mom gives me a lot of liberties, but I still check in with her constantly. It will be weird to have no one checking to make sure you are coming home. There will be no one there to worry if you don't. It's both exciting and terrifying." "Well I'll be there to worry if you don't. It will be nice to not be completely alone when we get there," Kayla said looking into my eyes. She had put her fork down and had turned her attention towards me. "And I hope you'll worry if I don't come home." "Always," I assured her. We shifted away from such a heavy topic as we ate. We talked about plans for the rest of the summer, and all the things we wanted to do before we went to college. We weren't going to school too far away from home, but we still wouldn't be home. As the waiter took away our empty plates, he asked if we wanted dessert. Since I had already planned dessert, I just asked for the check. I paid the bill and then we left. "Are we getting to the 'knock my socks off' part?" She asked as we pulled out of the restaurant parking lot. "Are you saying your socks are still on after that incredible meal?" I said feigning shock. "Well I am just going to have to up my game." I took a hold of her hand as I drove us back towards my house. She gave me a look as I parked in the driveway. She got out of the car, but kept the skeptical look on her face. I took her hand and led her into the backyard. "Okay, what's going on?" Kayla finally asked. "Are you taking me out here to murder me or something?" A laugh flew out of my mouth. It was louder than I had expected. "Really, you think I'm going to murder you?" I asked. "I don't know. I thought you were going to take me somewhere romantic or fun, but we end up in your backyard, so I don't know what to think." "And you think my backyard is not romantic or fun? O ye of little faith." I pull her towards out old tree house that never actually made it into the tree. My mom had bought it for us, and both of our parents were going to get together to get it up the tree, but that never happened, so it ended up being a sort of playhouse. It bothered me for a bit, because girls had playhouses, but I had so much fun with Kayla in it I stopped complaining. I had used my time wisely this afternoon and did some pre-date prep. When I opened the door to the playhouse there was a blanket on the floor with a cooler next to it. I had also bought a battery-powered candle so that we could have romantic lighting without setting the place on fire. "Voilá," I said stepping aside for her to enter. "Ok, I retract my statement," she said as she sat down. I turned on the candle and sat down across from her. I pulled two pieces of chocolate cake out of the cooler and a bottle of water. "Dessert, if you want it." Kayla smiled at me. It was one of her special smiles that she reserved only for when she was truly happy. It reached all the way up to her eyes, which shone as bright as the stars in the sky. "You are beautiful," I heard myself saying. I know I had been thinking it, but I hadn't intended on saying it out loud. "Come here," Kayla said almost as a command. I shifted myself closer to her. She placed her hand on my cheek and then kissed me. It started out as a gentle kiss, but quickly turned passionate. She moved her body closer, and I took the opportunity to pull her into my lap. I pushed her dress further up her thighs so that she could straddle me. As her legs closed around my hips her fingers threaded through my hair. We moaned in unison as she brushed up against my hardening erection. My hands gripped her hips, trying to gain some control. "Oh shit," Kayla moaned against my mouth. "James..." "Yea baby?" I asked. "I want you inside me," she whispered. My mouth went dry. It was amazing the affect those words had on me. My body instantly heated up and hardened. I shifted Kayla off my lap to give me access to her panties. I pulled them down her legs before moving her back onto my lap. She reached between us and undid the button and zipper on my pants and pulled my erection out. She rubbed her wetness against me. "Oh...god..." I groaned. I quickly grabbed a condom from my pocket and rolled it down my straining erection. I lifted Kayla's hips up and inched her down onto me. "Fuck," She half moaned half yelled. I gripped onto her hips and we ground against each other. Having Kayla's body wrapped around mine was amazing. Her body fit perfectly against mine. Her head dropped against my shoulder and that put her moans right in my ear. Being able to hear every tiny sound was so erotic. Our bodies found a perfect rhythm and I could hear her getting closer and closer to her climax. Her inner muscles began clenching around me. "Oh shit," I groaned as I grew closer to my own climax. I was doing my best to hold off until Kayla came first, but it was getting more and more difficult. Just when I thought I wasn't going to last any longer, Kayla's inner muscles clamped down and a strangled scream escaped her lips. I was seconds behind her. When her orgasm finally subsided, Kayla dropped her weight on me. I was having difficulty holding myself up, so I laid us down with her on top of me. We caught our breath and dozed off a little. We spent the rest of the night talking about anything and everything. We nibbled at the chocolate cake as we talked. It was around 2am when we finally left the playhouse and I walked Kayla to her back door. "So..." I prompted. "Socks are definitely knocked off," she said holding her shoes up and giving me one of her huge smiles. "Yea they are!" I gloated. Kayla laughed and placed her hand on my chest. "Tonight was great. Thank you." "Thank you for agreeing to go out with me." "I should head in," Kayla said gesturing towards the door. "I'll see you tomorrow. I'll come over around 11am and we can head to the beach together." "Sounds good." I gave her a quick kiss. "I'll see you tomorrow, or later today." She gave me a smile and a little wave before heading inside.
