During Walker's eighteenth year on the job his father, who'd never recovered from his second wife's death from cancer a year earlier, died from a heart attack while playing poker with his cronies in the back room of a bar. Fifty-eight thousands bucks was all Walker could get for the house, truck and fencing equipment. He worked with the new contractor for three weeks to get him on the right track and then headed west. Nine hours on trains, changing at times and having the feeling he was doing some backtracking, convinced Walker to get off at the next sizeable city and that's how he came to take a room in Rossiter. Walker's only vice was he fucked women, almost any woman who took a liking to him, although he never directly paid for it. A weakness for the flesh had lead him into some fights that he won and fights that he lost with husbands or boyfriends and he'd had a couple of STD scares but somehow he'd scraped through with his good health intact and his dick unscarred. The worst misadventure had been when a cuckold husband's two brothers held him down and the husband pulled out a knife and said he'd remove 'the Motherfucker's nuts', but apparently easier said than done. The aggrieved guy had slashed through Walker's belt, jerked open his pants but as he put the steel against the scrotum he suddenly vomited over his brothers and Walker. In the ensuing bedlam with the brothers cursing and fighting Walker managed to escape and even ended up with the knife that he gave to his father who later lost it. During the monotonous time on trains Walker had thought about his future. With savings he had more than $130,000 and concluded it was time to settle down with a nice lady and for her to punch out a couple of kids to build a West family. His late mother would have been proud of him thinking like that. He was two when a horse fatally kicked her. The look of Rossiter appealed to Walker, not being a place of all glitter and no substance. And it was big with a population of almost 40,000. Widow Chappell... that's what she called herself... was a homely soul but a skinflint with the food. Walker was paying for a coffin-sized room plus breakfast and dinner and his sheets changed every tenth day and his towel replaced every fourteenth day. He considered it a good deal for what Mrs Chappell charged apart from the kindergarten-sized meals. But some of the women residents never ate more than half their meals and would push their plates across to Walker to clean up. They thought that was cute but the two bank guys and the insurance guy thought he was uncouth. "You conduct is disgraceful," opined the insurance guy one evening, acting as if he were boss of the dining room. Unfortunately for the guy that night he was seated directly opposite Walker who reached across, hauled the guy across the table by his lapels and slapped him hard, snarling, "Don't you dare lip me buster." Wiping about blood from his mouth Maurice whimpered, "I'm bleeding." "Great, bleed to death you loudmouth." Two of the females clapped and the other two joined in. From that night the three other guys grouped defensively at the far end of the table and a couple of the women took Walker with them whenever they went out together to the movies or to a bar. Because none of the females including Mrs Chappell appealed to Walker as the prospective mother of his children he didn't pursue the opportunities on offer and the women, aged between eighteen and thirty-eight, simply assumed he was gay. Walker was unsuccessful in finding work initially because he didn't have a prepared CV, written references or even a phone number for a previous employer. However he did strike it lucky. He was out jogging round a council reserve and when taking a breather watched a council guy attempting to run a wire along a replacement fence line. He stopped and chatted to the council foreman whose two assistants were away on an urgent job. Walker offered to help but the guy said no, there was an insurance problem. He looked at his watch and said it was mid-morning coffee time, jumped into his pickup and was gone for forty minutes. When he returned he boggled. Three of the four plain high-tensile strands were strung out and tensioned correctly and Walker had dumped five battens (droppers) between each two posts as required to evenly space the wires apart to make the fence stronger. The guy had forgotten about insurance problems and allowed Walker to work with him. Walker was doing it to keep in touch with real work. They had finished stapling the battens to the wire and had loaded all the gear into the pickup and were leaning over the side yarning when a supervisor drove up. "How the hell did you get this fence finished so quickly Owen?" "This guy helped me. He used to work for his father who was a fencing contractor." "Do you work for us Buddy?" "Nah," Walker yawned. "Jesus Owen... insurance and public liability." "I know. Look Royce, why not get him on the payroll? He's looking for work. You could send him and me out to the reservoir and do that seven miles of re-wiring and some post replacements. We've put it off for two years and the patience of the State Conservation Department must be wearing real thin." "Oh yeah, great idea. So would you like to work for us young man?" "Yeah, I'll do a bit of fencing for you. With a fencing job that long we'll need a tractor with hydraulic pounder, materials dumped 400 yards apart and a spinning jenny mounted on Owen's pickup. Then we two can rip into it." "Right we already have quantities worked out. See to it that he gets what he wants Owen. Bring him in and see me first thing in the morning. By then I'll have approval to hire him. What's your name?" "Walker West." The supervisor grinned and said that was a name for a movie star. "Well we'll be sending our two fencing crews up to observe your techniques and aptitude. You appear to have a head down and ass up approach as well as utilizing modern techniques and equipment. We may as well learn from you as well as use you." "That's fine Royce. Um Owen and I will be hard at it. What about sending someone up each day with hot food and Italian machine coffee at noon? Hard work requires deep fueling." "Yeah, yeah," Royce laughed. "The elite crew. The mayor would have a fit if she found I was pulling something like that. I know, her daughter is on the payroll swanning around doing nothing of note. She's pretty with great tits. I could send her up with everything wrapped in pink and delivered with a great smile." Royce almost rolled around he was laughing so much. "I don't care who delivers it Royce. Just get it done and you'll see the results. This 150-yard baby you see strung up here is just a forerunner of what Owen and I will achieve up at the reservoir." Owen looked alarmed. "Hold on pal, my sexy wife would kill me if I arrived home half-dead with fatigue." Royce rubbed his chin. "The mayor did ask if I could find her daughter some delivery work to do. She hasn't had much of an education and has an awful work record having switched jobs nineteen jobs. Delivering food could be within her capabilities. She needs exercise carrying boobs that big." Walker looked pleased but Owen said, "In your dreams pal; no one on council gets hot meals delivered, not even the mayor." After Walker signed on next morning, Owen picked up a new spinning jenny and he drove Walker out to the reservoir and they continued along the fence line for an inspection. "Jesus, some one has been up here and removed the old barbed wire probably to sell for scrap so we get some of our investment back," Owen grinned. "That's saved us heaps of work. Coiling that stuff would have taken us weeks. We are also lucky we only have to keep cattle out, so it's just a four-strand fence." "That's twenty-eight miles of wire to hang, stretch and knot." "Christ Walker, I know that. Do you think I know nothing?" "Okay then how long will this job take us?" "Search me. I'm only here to lay out wire, stretch and loose staple it and nail battens. I suppose you know?" "To build a 7-mile four-wire fence on prepared and easy ground would take approximately 700 man-hours but luckily we have most of the posts in but we still have a total of twenty-eight miles of wire to hang. Provided there are not too many replacement posts to bang in I reckon working eight-hour days six days a week we should be finished in four weeks or sooner if you get off your butt." "The estimate is four men to take six weeks." Walker smiled. "The difference is pal you and I are here to work but you are the boss. You can slack off but don't expect me to back off when there's work to be done. How many battens between posts have been specified?" "Four instead of five." "Then we'll finish inside a month, no sweat." The tractor was delivered with some posts at 9:30 and Owen and Walker were underway. Just before noon as Owen was about to jump off the tractor he yelled, "Vehicle coming, lights flashing. Christ do you think Royce has actually sent us lunch?" "Yeah I thought he would," Walker lied, arriving to stand beside Owen as the older man jumped off the tractor. They gaped as a lovely blonde waved and called, "I'm Molly Brown. I've brought you guys the elite team lunch." "Jesus she's Mayor Brown's daughter," Owen said almost reverently. Walker, dressed in thick socks and boots, short shorts and a thick black sleeveless vest strode forward and Molly almost fell over her own feet gawking at the six-two guy with dark long hair and a mile-wide smile. "Hi I'm Walker, do I kiss you?" Walker said, knowing this was the type of woman he had in mind to marry. "I-I don't know," Molly stammered. "Sweat from work is little different to sweat from sex," he grinned as he kissed her. They heard Owen say, "Jesus pal." Molly and Walker were like two teenagers. The thirty-one year old said, "Y-you kiss nicely." "Shucks Molly, you are really great to kiss. Oh yummy." "What?" she said crossly, noticing what he'd openly glanced at. "The smell of fresh coffee. Magnificent. We'll be working here for a month so expect this service every day but not Saturday." "Will you work Saturdays?" she said in surprise. "Yeah the extra work days make the big job shorter." She giggled and said she'd deliver on Saturdays as well. She was sick of having nothing to do. "So we'll be right for a date on Saturday nights." "Excuse me?" "Oh Jesus," Owen said, now up close and smelling the coffee. "I wish to eat out with you on Saturday nights and perhaps to fool around a bit if you are that way inclined." "That way inclined?" "Oh let's keep it simply initially. The invitation is dinner somewhere this Saturday night." "Oh thank you, how lovely. I accept. Guys are too scared to date me because of my mom who can be a real dragon at times." "Great we have a date. Please stay with us for a bite and coffee. I'd like to keep on looking at you." "Um hi, I believe you are Mr Johns?" "Yes Miss Brown but call me Owen if you wish. The guy who'll be dating you is Walker West." "Oh what a lovely name." Misinterpreting whose name Molly had referred to, Owen looked at her in surprise and said he'd never heard anyone reckon Owen was a beautiful name. Molly glanced at Walker and giggled. "I'll play mother. I brought a rug thinking it would be rough and ready out here." "You are very intelligent Molly." Molly blushed hugely at Walker's compliment and Owen sighed "Jesus." Eventually they waved Molly off and Walker said, "We'll have to work faster this afternoon to make up for that extra half-hour we added to our half-hour break." "The Mayor will want your balls for a necklace when Molly tells her how you spoke to her like a common tart." "Like a modern young women I think." "Like a common tart." "Have it your way but I ask you, who got the date?" "Young man, you know not what you do." "Relax, I know how to stand up to dragons. My late stepmom was one. Tell me how you met the lovely darling who became your wife." "She wasn't exactly beautiful." "But you thought she was ever so lovely." "Yeah, do you know Janice?" "No of course not. Here we go with the knot. Pull it tight closer into the strainer. That's it and now allows Jenny to turn freely while I drive the pickup the quarter mile for this string but slow her if I slow or stop and keep talking to me about Janice. How long was it after you met her before you fucked her?" "Jesus Walker, you don't want to know much do you? Well I'm saying nothing." "Go on. I bet you were so shy she had to unzip you and help herself." "That's bullshit. If you must know her mom had gone to get buy milk and bread so I..." And Owen blathered everything. They were driving back to the city late afternoon when Owen said, "Christ I can't believe I told you my first carnal experience with Janice in such detail." "What the hell are you jabbering about? You told me nothing of the sort." "Don't be dopey, I told you..." Owen caught the stupid grin and laughed. "You're all right pal. Do you think Miss Brown will show up at noon tomorrow?" "Yeah, right on the dot. She'll have on a sexy dress with make-up piled thick, her cheeks will be flushed and she won't be able to keep her eyes off me." "In your dreams pal. Why don't you come to dinner tomorrow night? You're bound to give Janice a few laughs. She thinks the guys I work with are what she calls a dour lot of aimless souls." "Janice sounds polite and knowledgeable." "Eh?" Next day at noon Owen was peeing against the tractor tire wondering if Janice really meant it when she'd said that morning they should adopt a kid when the RAV-4 pulled up. Too late he was caught red-faced. He zipped up and waved and when Molly came up to him in a sexy dress and her freckle hidden under make-up he said, "Sorry about that." She smiled. "It's okay. Want me to get a portable toilet sent up? You are adjacent to the city's water supply." "But we pee on this side of the levee. We are very particular about that." "Oh very intelligent. Um where's Handsome." Owen grinned, "No one of that description works up here." She smiled and Owen said, "That's the pickup coming now. Would you like me to give you two some space?" "No but that's a lovely offer. He's rather high-powered for me so it's best I get used to him in small doses. Is he married?" "Nah says he can't find the right woman." Owen watched Molly touch her hair and then straightened her sundress and look down the fence-line eagerly as the cab of the pickup breasted the rise. "Please don't mention what we were just talking about Owen." "No of course not Miss Brown. You'll not want him to know you are keen." "Omigod Owen am I that obvious? For heavens sakes call me Molly." Owen lied and said no, she didn't appear overly keen. She looked relieved and pushed her chest forward slightly. Owen leaned back against the big tractor wheel as if expected to be entertained. As Walker stepped out of the cab Molly ran forward and almost skidded to a stop just short of him. "Oh hi Molly. All prettied up to look good for Owen I see?" "No I just wanted you to see me..." She stopped, looking uncertain with one heel raised as if ready to turn and flee. "Baby would I like to get my hands on those two beauties but unfortunately I don't know you well enough yet. If the sweat doesn't bother you kiss me. I am SO pleased to see you." "Omigod," Molly cried and rushed forward and pressed right up against Walker and kissed him. "Gee that was swell Molly. You must be the best kisser within a hundred miles of the Rossiter City Hall." "Mrs Johns is probably a great kisser," Molly said, doing her best to be inclusive. "I'll let you know tomorrow who well she kisses because she and Owen are hosting me at dinner tonight." "Oh really? How sweet. Well come along and spread our out lunch. This is the most exciting part of my day." "Well yes, I can understand that. My pal Owen has that effect on pretty young ladies." Molly appeared ready to die of frustration while poor Owen was looking for a hole in which to hide. But at that point Walker backed-off with his quick quips and the leisurely hour over lunch just flew. As the men rose to return to work, leaving Molly to clear away, she asked, "Am I required to wear a dress when I come up here or will shorts and a top be okay?" "Owen is the foreman, he should answer that." "Um this is one of those occasions when I delegate my crew to answer the question." Walker scratched his armpit and said straight-faced, "Shorts and a skimpy strapless tied top will be fine Molly." "Skimpy?" she giggled and pointed, "What with these?" The men strode off grinning. * * * Molly and her mother Nancy Brown shared a secret that potentially would raise Cain if it ever got out. They used each other to practice safe sex. Guilt weighed heavily on Mayor Brown but her daughter had a more simplified mind and she viewed it as quite acceptable though not something to talk about of course. She thought probably half of all mothers had at least one sexual encounter with their daughters, although she was unable to quote any authority to back that assertion. They'd been at it for more than ten years, after Sid Brown left Nancy for his secretary and just before she was elected Mayor and she had been wracked with tension. It had started innocently enough with Molly performing shoulder and neck rubs, and that continued into full body massaging or Molly's idea of what massaging was, but it seemed to work for Nancy. Then after a long massage one wet Sunday afternoon they went into the shower together without any discussion and during the soaping Molly somehow pierced Nancy's pussy with a finger. Nancy dreamily opened her legs wider and so it went from there and within two weeks they were making each other come and performed that pleasing routine at least twice a week. Molly loved seeing her mom drained of hostility, thought it would last no much longer that a couple of hours and she enjoyed having her mom get her off because Nancy was better at it than any guy who'd ever had has fingers up Molly and in more than ten years quite a number of guys had that honor. Molly wished her mom, a divorcee, would find an unmarried guy to provide her with sexual relief and then her political career would not be at risk. She wondered if Walker and she were to have a fling would he be available after it ended to take on her mom? He didn't appear to be the type who'd be scared of her mom and he wasn't married. That evening during dinner Nancy said, "I've learned that you are delivering lunch daily to an elite team. What the hell is an elite team and who authorized them to be feted in this extraordinary manner and to involve you?" "Mom I've met him." "Oh yes and it's not that I haven't hear that line before. Is he in the elite team?" "Yes I believe he's the driving force. They are two guys working on renewing the eastern boundary fence of Eaglehead reservoir. He's a gun fencer and has been temporarily employed with one council guy Owen um Owen Johns in charge. "Well at least that work is good news. The head of the conservation department has been at us to complete the job. They removed the droppers and wire and have been waiting for us to reinstate the fence. I asked you, who authorized your involvement?" "You did. You asked one of the works division's supervisors to find some delivery work for me and the Director of Works Mr Stevens approved the drop-off of hot food and coffee in as requested in return for the huge savings." Finding Molly "The extra cost and the cost of setting this stupid precedent you mean?" "Not at all. Our charming gun fencer claims he and Mr Johns will complete the job in four weeks compared with the estimate of six men taking six weeks." "I don't believe it." "Well I do. I was up there yesterday at lunchtime on their first day and again today and was told they had already replaced seventeen substandard posts, three strainers and have strung two strands of twelve and a half gauge high tension wire for a quarter of a mile." "How do you know those terms? You know nothing about boundary fencing." "Well I do now. I'm keen to get Walker to like me mom." "Walker? That's a high-rise sounding name for a fencer?" "A gun fencer mom and I bet he'll be great as doing anything he takes an interest in." "Well just ensure you don't get pregnant if you engage in something that goes beyond a dalliance with him." "A what?" "Never mind. It was a word your great-gran used often. Think flirtatious." "Oh I shall. Why don't you come with me when I deliver to them on Saturday and we can see how real men get the job done." "Non-unionized men you mean. Do you eat with them?" "Yes, I was politely invited to join them on Day One." "Well then pack extra for me. I suggest you don't mention I'll be accompanying you. I'll enjoy seeing them all fingers and thumbs and being over-awed by my visit." "Don't count your chickens prematurely mother." * * * At the rooming house Walker made the mistake saying to two of the women he'd been invited out for dinner and had advised Mrs Chappell. Juliet and Zoë roomed together and Walker was sure they played together but both were fun and lovely. Juliet said, "Have a shower, partly dress and come to our room Walker and we'll care for your hair... an older woman you say?" "Yeah I work with an older guy and she's his wife and he adores her." "Then she must be sweet," Zoë said. "Or a tyrant," Juliet countered, leaving Walker non-the-wiser. Walker, feeling like an idiot with his hair curled and carrying a bouquet flowers, knocked on the Johns' door and a real honey for an older woman greeted him and held out her hand to be shaken. He placed the flowers in her hand and kissed her and said, "Owen is a fine man Mrs Johns." Shaken to the core, Janice said, "How absolutely lovely for you to say that to me when presumably we both know Owen can't hear us." Walker didn't know how to reply to that and so said nothing. "Please come through. Owens in the kitchen doing something I can't bear to do; he's dealing with a brace of lobsters." "Lobster, oh Mrs Johns, my very favorite food." He wasn't lying and she almost gurgled in delight. Owen came through with two beers and took the bottle of classy red wine from Walker with thanks. "Did you have a huge scare coming here?" he asked, eyeing Walker's hair. "Please don't be rude Owen. I'd like Owen to grow his hair longer but he refuses me." "Well you know the rule-of-thumb saying Mrs Johns, long hair small penis." Mrs Johns bellowed in laughter and recovering said, "You naughty man. Please call me Janice." They were away and had a great night. CHAPTER 2 Owen was not happy about working on Saturday. "I've never worked Saturdays expect during emergencies. Janice was mad when I said I would be working tomorrow but when I said you thought we should, she said well that was quite okay. What is this power you have over women?" Walker said, as Owen turned into the restricted access track up to the reservoir, "I'll let you into my secret." "Gee thanks pal." "I talk to them as I would a guy." "And?" "That's virtually it. Oh I toss in a tease or two and if they are stroppy I give as good as I get." "You give as good as you get... you not talking sex are you?" "No Owen. You asked me about my non-existent power over women." Owen grouched, "There are times when I don't understand you." "Yeah well my dad and my step-mom used to say the same thing." They saw the lights flash as the RAV-4 appeared. "If we're lucky, today is the day Molly will have her shorts pulled tight into her vulva and her tits hanging out." "Walker, no guy in his right mind could think like that about a beautiful, innocent woman like Molly." "Please understand buddy I'm just dreaming. Hold up, she has someone beside her. Put your dick away." "Walker is nothing sacred with you?" "I find it impossible to comprehend that sort of talk buddy. Are you gay?" They watched the two women alight. "Oh god, it's Mayor Brown. Put your jerkin on." "No it's a hot day and mommy ought to see my rippling muscles." "Hi guys," Molly waved. She was conservatively dressed. "You are the elite crew... well with me I have the elite governor of our city, Mayor Nancy Brown." "Good afternoon Mayor Brown," Owen said, after hastily removing his hat. "Hi Nancy. It's easy to see where Molly's good looks came from." Nancy touched her hair and said out of the side of her mouth to her daughter, "God what a slime ball." "Mom don't be too hasty; he grows on you." "No way, toss them their food and get me out of here." Walker intercepted Nancy and smiling said, "Why don't we leave Owen to flirt with your daughter while you and I take a short walk down this fence line. We strung the last of the four strands on this section a few minutes ago." "I really don't think..." "Oh so the Mayor is not interested in the work of her minions?" "I really don't think..." "Relax Nancy it's Saturday. Here take my hand as the terrain is a little stony." Molly and Owen watched them walk away and saw Nancy take Walker's hand. "Jesus will you look at that?" Molly said weakly, "There will be a logical explanation." Walker walked Nancy over the rise and fifty yards down the slope stopped and said, "We both know that a requirement for city water supplies is the catchments must be uncontaminated and the water collected must be adequately treated for safe drinking and tested rigorously." "Yes of course." "And is it correct this reservoir contains almost two-thirds of your reticulated water recourse?" "Yes. You appear well informed." "Owen briefed me. Look to your right Nancy." "What for rabbits?" "I mean right on the ground." "Omigod." "Yeah right." Nancy was shaking. "I believe only you and I know about it Nancy. My pal Owen is not particularly observant and the bulldozer driver who cleared to the fence line problem had headphones on and was dreaming about flat-chest blondes when he cleared through here and inadvertently opened this tip of a seam." "Open cast coal mining against a city's water supply system?" Nancy said aghast, her voice rising. The State Government will be thinking only about royalties and taxes and we'll be shouldered out and forced to spend millions on replicating this reservoir in some other area where we don't own the land." "Perhaps." She looked at Walker hopefully and asked, "What do you mean?" "As I said, only you and I know about this. We have no idea if it's a bucket of coal or thousands or millions of tons of it. You get a bulldozer brought up here this evening by someone you can trust and will accept to ask no questions, with the dozer left at the start of the fence line back there. I will bury this embarrassing trace under a ton of small boulders. End of story." "Oh you hero, saving the city needless expense. Perhaps one day prospectors will find the far end of the seam, if a seam exists, and will mine it without compromising our water catchments." "That's possible but we see no need to hasten any such discovery, do we? The value of any such resource must grow over the decades. Okay come back and join us for lunch. You must be aware you have a lovely daughter. She and I are dating this evening." The dragon swallowed and that extinguished her flame. "Oh I rather approve of that." * * * Walker called for Molly in a cab because he didn't have a car. The big white two-level house was on a hill and was the kind of house one would expect a fulltime Mayor serving her third consecutive term in office to live in. Nancy opened the door before Walker had a chance to knock and kissed him, a greeting that only half-surprised Walker because... well they were conspirators. The Mayor smiled and said, "Royce Cameron the supervisor of your works section is an old friend of mine and knows when I call and say to ask no questions he asks no questions. He called fifteen minutes ago to say he's delivered the machine to the site personally and unloaded it. He'll return to the site around 6:00 tomorrow evening and truck the dozer back to the depot. His movements in and out of the depot will be recorded on security cameras but to the contract security firm observing moments of after-hours activity will not regard that activity as anything but normal, especially when Royce makes no effort to conceal his identify and no break-ins are reported." "Excellent work Mayor; you could possibly have a successful career in crime." Nancy smiled, "How insulting of you young man, attempting to tarnish the image of the head of the second largest law firm in this city. Come in. My excited daughter is about ready." Walker's heart did the usual tumble performed whenever he sighted a woman who'd prepared herself for her first new date. He thought Molly appeared taller, more proportionately perfect and more beautiful than he remembered. It was amazing how women could up the ante, appearance-wise. Molly was dressed in a ruffled-front long-sleeved white shirt, black pencil-skirt and turquoise shrug (not that Walker knew it was called that) and matching high heel shoes and she carried a black lace clutch bag. However he did guess correctly for a woman without a real job to dress so well she must receive a living allowance from her mom. Nancy watched almost a little breathlessly for them to rush together and kiss but Walker simply nodded and said hi, that she looked lovely and she said hi and gave her man dressed in black pants, plain T-shirt and rumpled fawn jacket a huge smile and stood beside him. "Well goodnight Mrs Brown." "Goodnight you two," Nancy smiled and her smile broadened when she noted by the time the young couple had reached the front door they were holding hands. As they walked down the steps Molly said, "I can't understand that?" "What me walking into the Lioness's Den and emerging intact?" "Yes, something like that. Usually any guy who takes me out receives a lecture." "Your mother probably fairly judged me to be beyond redemption." Molly giggled and said no way, her mother was one of those people who never gave up. "It's almost as if you had some sort of hold over her?" Walker stopped and looked at her intently. "I shall tell you something but not all of it and you must never breathe a word about it and we never talk about it again. Agreed?" "Agreed," Molly said, wide-eyed. "I met your mother for the first time today and you saw me walk away with her." "Yes and holding her hand. That really rocked Owen and me." "I suggested she hold my hand over the rough terrain. She wasn't in boots." "Oh." Walker smiled and continued. "Less than 200 yards down the slope I showed her something to the side of the cleared area alongside the fence line. It's nothing sinister, nothing dead, just something that its best left at rest being adjacent to the city's major water reservoir. We deemed it best to leave my discovery unannounced and tomorrow I will cover it with rock." "Is that all? I thought you had found some graves." "May we leave it at that?" Molly clutched him. "I can see why my mother is being careful with you; you two are fellow conspirators." "Do you shave your pussy?" "Walker!" He laughed and said he needed to get her mind on to something else and opened the cab door for her. * * * Molly kidded herself she was wildly excited, that the guy actually knew she had a pussy. She'd been totally wrong about him, thinking here was just another guy without substance although this one was rather good looking. And now within minutes of meeting her mother, a woman reputed to freeze the balls of some guys in fear of her, here was Walker in cahoots with her. Oh yes, this guy was more than a little different and she conceded she wasn't anywhere near as strong as her mother and that meant Walker was capable of winding her round his little finger. Molly, never one to be composed and rational at all times, or even most of the time, had a sudden mind switch and imagined his little finger up her ass. Oh god. She slapped her chest to reprimand herself; thinking that was so naughty. "Are you okay?" Walker asked, looking at her slightly concerned. "Yes I um felt I was about to burp." She thought he hadn't bought that so grabbed his hand and squeezed it and she saw his eyes hood slightly and her heart began to race and she swallowed. Rum-google, this guy was HOT. She casually let his hand go, holding her breath, wondering. His hand fell on to her thigh and without hesitation he dug deep and placed a big mitt over her vulva. Molly had to fight herself to stop opening her legs. She couldn't believe she was doing it when she grabbed that arm by the wrist and pushed it away. Oh god, he would be now thinking she didn't want that kind of attention. Molly leaned into him, bit his ear gently and chided, "Naughty boy." She saw the big flash of teeth amid his grin and knew all was well. During dinner she asked what did Walker intend doing in a little over three weeks when he finished the fence. The reply shocked her. "I'd been clear in my mind I would move on but something has come up to change that." Quite unsuspecting Molly asked, "And what's that?" "I've found you." Molly's jaw dropped. Was he THAT interested in her? Molly was used to guys getting what they wanted and then dropping her. Although she had a great body and great looks and the city's most powerful woman was her mother, she was worldly but not particularly bright. In fact she'd found college a struggle and had dropped out as a sophomore. Her mother could motivate her but few other people bothered. Being slack and easily distracted were reasons for her losing so many jobs that in the end his mom asked the council's Director of Works to find Molly employment counting shovels and stocks of road cones or whatever. Molly liked the work because no one really knew what she was employed to do or asked her what she was supposed to do. She just volunteered to help out in areas where help appeared necessary and when her mom found her steam-cleaning portable toilets she asked the supervisor to find Molly more genteel work such as making deliveries. "You haven't reacted to my possible inflammatory comment." "The truth is Walker I'm astonished you think you can see anything other than my body." "Your body is great Molly and with your cooperation I have something in mind for that but how could I go past your vitality and personality? You are bright as a button and when you are around it makes me feel good because I reckon I interest you. You don't have a college degree do you?" "No." "And you are embarrassed about that?" "I wasn't at the time I dropped out of college but I am now." "Why Molly. Who really cares?" "If you must know it hurts when I'm with my graduate girlfriends and being without a degree I end up with crap jobs." "Are your girlfriends upset that you are not a fellow graduate?" Molly had to think. "I-I have not thought of it from that angle." "Well think now." "I'd have to say no because the fact is I've noticed no change in them, none of them. In fact a couple of them appear more concerned they wasted their effort taking unsuitable courses." "That happens but I believe the saying is no education is really wasted. Do you think it matters I didn't even get through the gates of a college?" "I-I hadn't thought about you not being a graduate. You appear so knowledgeable and so confident with... well um with an educated air." "You are right on only one of those things. I'm confident, perhaps over confident and I certainly are not particularly knowledgeable outside my areas of interest and I certainly don't attempt to project what you call 'an educated air'. For fuck sake Molly, just concentrate on being yourself rather than someone you'd like to be. I'll tell you something, Owen and I see you up at the reservoir uncaring and not attempting to impress and you enjoying inter-acting with us. We both see you as an adorable young woman. I know Owen does because he keeps on about it and saying I'm not good enough for you, that I'm wasting my time, but on the subject I say Owen you are so wrong. You see my confidence tells me to believe that." Walker stopped speaking and picked up his wine glass and sipped and Molly also sipped. "God, what a speech," she giggled. "Will you behave and not attempt to hump me across this table if I say I'm deliriously happy you've found me?" "Oh so I have permission to hump you provided it's not across this restaurant table?" Molly's face darkened and she struggled apparently to keep a straight face. "Oh Walker I'm sure you don't need me to tell you what you can and cannot do." They walked out of the restaurant flushed and with high expectations. But as the cool night air hit them they realized their quandary. Molly proved staunch, took a deep breath and said evenly, "Mom won't want me to take you home for sex." Walker adopted a hound-dog look and said, "The rules where I live are no guests in rooms after 10:30." "Oh fuck," Molly groaned in despair. "We appear stymied young lady but I admire your positive attitude. If we tried hard enough I guess we could make something happen but then again we have no need to rush. Let's flag a cab and I'll drop you off on my way home." In the cab Molly grabbed Walker desperately and smothered him with kisses. Encouraged Walker dug deep and her legs opened and he got a couple of fingers into her. As the cab approached the Mayor's home Walker pulled his dripping fingers out, sniffed them and held them out to Molly. She didn't balk; she came wide-open mouth on to his fingers and sucked them. Walker kissed her open mouth and she flowed some of her saliva into his mouth and he detected a faint taste of pussy juice. "You are a sensual woman," he said after wiping his mouth and Molly squirmed in delight. As she left the cab after kissing Walker one more time she said, "Come to dinner tomorrow night. Fingers crossed, mom could invite you to stay, er with me." "Fine, I'd love to come to dinner. I'll save my tears if I'm denied yet again." Molly said goodnight and walked off, dabbing her eyes, not looking back. Walker decided to be philosophical and thought if having sex was too easy he'd have to find a more challenging interest. * * * "Come in dear, I'm awake," Nancy called. "I guess you were screwed. My feeling is that young man knows what he's about." "We had nowhere to go. He lives in an establishment when room guests must leave by 10:30." "Oh darling, I can imagine how frustrating that must be for you both. But never mind your time will come." "Yeah, right. Um do you want me to sleep with you tonight?" "Not unless you are desperate. One of my law partners dropped around for a quiet chat and one thing led to another. He said his wife was in Europe visiting their daughter and family and he wouldn't look me in the eye so I thought of my poor boy and went over to comfort him and found he wanted more than that and so... well you can guess the rest." "Lucky you." "Oh my poor darling. You looked so gorgeous tonight. At least Walker got at look at you at your best. I think he could be just right for you so think about having a fling." Finding Molly "You won't mind?" Molly said after kissing her mom affectionately. Nancy practically spluttered no why should she? She'd made it quite clear what they did was simply a fallback position. "Of course I don't want it to stop but I also want you to have a normal sex life and even focus on one guy if the right guy comes along. I think this guy Walker has rocked you a bit hasn't he? From my first look I think he's way better that most guys you associate with." Molly sighed. "He'll want more than an empty-head like me." Nancy revved up instantly. "Now young lady, no more of that stupid talk. You are physically endowed brilliantly and have some good strengths. Just how many times must I tell you some men don't want a woman as their intellectual superior... they just want a woman who gives them an easy time as a real pal and rolls over to please them? God you are thirty-one years of age and you must have confirmed that for yourself with all the guys you've had?" "Walker told me tonight he wasn't educated beyond high school and his approach to life is to face it front on and confidently." "Gee that's rather deep for a couple who have yet to have sex. My advice is to stick on his tail baby and see what happens. Just keep relaxed around him and like he says, be confident. I think we both know the sex should be great." In bed Molly reviewed the events of that evening and found herself more philosophical than unhappy. Her mom was right; if she stuck around Walker she was likely to be delighted with the outcome (yawn). Yeah, he had the build and strength to be really great at sex and was not without a sensitive undertone. Molly fell asleep massaging around her clit and thinking that finger was Walker's. Next morning Molly awoke and realized she and Walker had not arranged to meet. Obviously he'd had his mind on doing that cover-up job for her mom, covering an exposed reef of gold or perhaps that stuff the power-hungry guys made nuclear bombs from or used to powered submarines and warships. He'd mentioned he lived at the Bluebell Rooming House so went there and asked the cleaning lady could she see the proprietor. "That will be Mrs Chappell who might well be asleep since it's not yet an hour after lunch. I suppose I can take a look and see if she wants to see you. What's your business?" "I'm making an enquiry." "Commercial callers use the back entrance thank you and calls are only accepted between the hours of 9:00 and noon." "It's not that sort of enquiry. Perhaps this five bucks will encourage you to wake Mrs Chappell." "That would cost you ten bucks." "In that case I'll wake Mrs Chappell myself and tell her you are demanding money from me." "Don't bother yourself. I'll get her." Five minutes later the thin, mean-mouthed Mrs Chappell appeared, still brushing her hair. "If you don't want a room what do... omigod, you're the Mayor's daughter." "Indeed and I'm enquiring if one of your roomers I wish to see is in or if not may I wait?" "We'll have no one here who'll interest the likes of you." "His name is Walker West." "Ah yes, he would be the exception to the generalized comment I just made. You'll find him out the back under the apple tree. He was working this morning and I made him a chicken sandwich and poured him a glass of wine. Go through that door, turn left into the long passage and exit at the end. You may visit his room but you must be out of here by 10:30." "Why?" "Because staying after 10:30 you could get up to mischief." "But we could get up to mischief at 4:00 this afternoon?" "True but that's unlikely to keep anyone awake." "Oh I see," Molly smiled. "A very pragmatic policy." "Does pragmatic mean good?" "Well applied as you described the curfew yes, very good management." "Thank you. Wait for a minute and I'll give you a glass of wine." Using her wine glass Molly clinked the glass in the hand of the almost-dozing Walker and he jumped slightly but kept his glass steady. "Hi," he said. "What brings you here?" "I'm here to fuck you. Your landlady said I must be out of your room by 10:30. I appeared to impress her and she gave me a glass of wine." "I expect that's because someone as beautiful as you raises this level of this establishment." "I can see the outline of your cock but it's not erect is it?" "Er no," Walker said, casting around to see if anyone was within hearing distance of them. They were alone. He stared at her. "God if you want it you don't mind asking for it, do you?" "The alternative is to risk missing out." He grinned and said. "Young lady you have a refreshing outlook and I approve of it enormously." She ignored that. "This wine is drinkable." "She buys it cheap at the supermarket and resells it to us as bar prices." "How much does she charge for condoms?" Walker said he doubted Mrs Chappell knew what they were because they might not have been called that in her day. Molly laughed and switched the topic. "Did you complete that job this morning okay?" "Yeah but took a couple of hours because of the distance I have to push rock from, making five passes in all. It's the first time I've handled a dozer in about five years and so I enjoyed doing the job. What do you want to do this afternoon?" "What do you think?" "Oh I thought you were thinking early evening?" "No if we start early we can spend longer at it." "Damn, there must be something wrong with my ears. I can't believe what I'm hearing. You know, you really are a modern young miss." "You don't mean a slut?" Walker looked quite indignant. "No not at all and I really mean that." * * * As Molly looked around the room Walker said, "I apologize for my Spartan living accommodation that's probably the size of your bathroom." "It's fine. The bed looks okay as does the chair." Walker became interested. "Um you don't insist being on your back and on a bed?" "Christ no Walker. Sex is not meant to be rigid and boring. I quite like using all sorts of chairs. Did you know you are able buy a purpose built fucking chair?" "Um no." She grinned. "Remove my clothes please and allow me to introduce your to chair sex. Are you aware a sturdy wood chair with a straight back can be rather comfortable for a woman for a rousing bout of anal? Walker looked at Molly and dribbled. "Oh I see. You hadn't thought about just how far I'd go," she smiled, looking at him keenly. He hastily wiped his mouth. The truth was Walker had only thought about fucking her without thinking about detail. In fact he knew little about Molly, not even were her tits firm or soft and did she slobber into unrestrained tonguing or did she prefer the tongues to just touch with not slobbering or did the thought of tonguing and having her cunt licked repulse her? Walking behind Molly to begin unbuttoning the back of her dress Walker attempted to guess: he thought because of her obvious vitality and deep personality Molly would be in big with everything to do with sex. Christ how many women does a guy meet who mention anal before being plowed the first time? Walker undid the last button and thought he'd surprise her; instead of pushing her dress top away and hauling up her bra so he could grab her tits he reached round and gently cupped her tits and when she turned her head, as he expected she would, they kissed and slowly her lips opened. This was their first real kiss of intent and he enjoyed it. Then he felt her right arm move back slowly and she withdrew her nearest hip slightly to open the angle and that hand slid though the gap and she grabbed a handful of cock that lay hidden under his pants. "Oooh yes ma'am. That's where your hand should be." "God there's enough of it." "I screwed on my Number One cock in case you have a cave for a cunt." She giggled and squeezed him quite hard and he became very, very interested. The bra came off and the tits were soft but that was scarcely surprising because they were C-size. Remaining behind Molly, Walker dropped the dress and then her panties and she stepped forward free of both garments. She turned and showed him her neat pussy line with just a hint of inner lips and a half-inch wide line of clipped hair rose upwards from near the clit hood. Very nice. "Good enough to eat," he said eyeing it and she told him to go right ahead. Walker was now in a hurry. He wasn't hanging around waiting for someone to knock on the door or for the sky to fall in. He dropped his pants and briefs and hooking an arm around Molly and he sat on the chair and pulled Molly down on to his lap. She wriggled to adjust after asking, "Pussy or butt?" "Pussy," Walker croaked. They had a great bang. He didn't offered to pull on a condom (assuming she could supply one) and she didn't ask him to wear one. As he'd anticipated, she put everything into it and they groaned, sweated and their mid-regions slapped together with lewd sounds. Finally Walker's face contorted and unable to hold back any longer he fired and screwed Molly's tits with his big mitts; she yelled and came with plenty of oomph. During the next five hours they went at it three more time. They had not had a break for food and Walker was only sucking coke and mineral water so they were pretty stuffed when they awoke after another nap. They went out for dinner and were so totally centered on each other that later, long after he'd taken Molly home, Walker couldn't remember where they'd eaten and what he had to eat but assumed he would not have gone past steak. The council's two other fencing gangs came at different afternoons to observe work in progress and were astonished how fast and efficiently two guys could string up such long stretches of four strands of wire. They listened to Walker in fascination as he said although good fitness and a strong work ethic counted for much, having a cleared fence line, supplies left at strategic intervals and an agreed work plan stating who did what and when, were every bit as important. "That business plan and ensuring its execution is carried out meticulously are the real keys to fencing efficiency," he intoned and when making that delivery to both groups, it was applauded although some of the guys gave the impression they thought efficiency meant working harder. Walker didn't bother getting into philosophical argument and Owen made do by making an irrefutable comment, "If you worker harder you get more work done." The visits were arranged for the afternoons so that the visitors didn't see Owen and Walker being treated as elite workers at midday when their hot foot and top quality coffee was delivered. On Monday after her and Walker's sex debut, when Molly arrived she was more subdued than unusual, almost shy. Walker kissed her as usual but she pulled away quickly as if signaling he was not to touch her in front of Owen. Walker was happy to leave it but Owen was curious. "What's wrong with you today Molly?" he asked. "You are running only on half throttle?" "I'm okay thank you," she said a little stiffly. Walker could see that Owen had a bone to worry. So he put an end to the inquisition. "Molly and I did more than go out for a meal at the weekend. We also had sex." "Oh god," Molly groaned, hiding her red face in her hands. "Oh," Owen said. "There is no need to be embarrassed you guys. Just act like lovers and that will be acceptable to me. If you feel like having making whoopee do it on the back of the back of the pickup if you can wrap round our spinning jenny." "Thanks for being so understanding pal. I think Molly would prefer no further mention was made of our relationship." "Right. Oh Molly was he any good?" "He was brilliant Owen, now will you shut up about it." "Sorry Molly." Twenty-two days after they started, Owen and Walker finished the job and when they drove into the main works depot that afternoon all crews working away from the depot were called in and half hour later ten dozen cans of beer were delivered, courtesy of the Director of Works. The guys couldn't believe this was being done and wondered what was the catch. There was no catch. When the beer was flowing the director arrived and grabbing a cans took a couple of swigs and then called for quiet because he wanted to say a few words. "The beer is on my expense account and I have a couple of things to explain why I'm doing this. The first is we have seen in Walker West the greatest fencer to have ever worked for this council. I've been here in works for eighteen years and certainly in that time I've not noted a fencer who could come close to Walker in terms of organization, speed, quality of work and efficiency. Walker had heard about the long over-due work on the boundary fence line up at our main reservoir. When approval was sought from me I said we can't spare the personnel and his response was give him one good fencer and they'd have that twenty-eight miles of wire up in not much over a month. Well you all know what happened. We gave him Owen who doesn't mind a bit of hard work and just look at the guy now... he's lost 10 pound in weight and looks so fit that his wife is probably barricading herself in the house because she's scared he'll drive her through the bed head." The guys laughed and cheered Owen. "The sad news is when Walker and Owen finished the fence at 2:30 today Walker said that's it, he would move on and called their supervisor to ask that his termination pay be made up." "Is he taking Owen with him," someone yelled. There was laughter. The director continued, "Walker took on finishing that fence as a mission and when the first report of progress being made came in, my management team and I accepted we had been lax in not having that job finished. It's the longest piece of fencing we have faced as a single project." "Walker had figured that out and reckoned you should have put on gangs at either end and made it a competitive finish or else we could have had a gang up there for one week on consecutive months until it was finished," Owen said. "Walker taught me something about attitude towards work. Thanks everyone, have a beer with Walker because he leaves when the last can is emptied." Later Owen came almost swaggering back to Walker, smiling hugely. He whispered, "The big boss just told me I'll be replacing Dick Raines as field supervisor of drains and sidewalk maintenance. Dick was fired today when turning up for work drunk again after his recent final warning." Walker clapped Owen hard on the back and the older and now much fitter man barely flinched. "Nice going pal." "I wish I were going with you pal," Owen sniffed. "Why don't you take Molly?" "Jesus pal, you're dreaming," Walker chuckled. Owen took hold of Walker's upper arm. "Do you believe it will be easy to find another women as great as Molly?" Walker's head dropped and he shuffled his boots. "Ask her pal. Ask her." CHAPTER 3 Molly was returning to City Hall after delivering flowers to the ill council treasurer when she took a call from her mom. "Bad news I'm afraid. The Director of Works is throwing a small party to mark the end of fencing up at the reservoir and to farewell your man who leaves us today to head off goodness knows where." "What?" Molly cried. "I knew the fence was finished but I had no idea..." "I must run darling. I have a meeting. Don't give up on him or you'll lose him." Hands shaking, Molly called Walker. "What this I hear about you leaving town?" "Oh hi babe. I was going to drop the news on you tonight." "You are not leaving town without me." She waited, holding her breath, her heart pounding. She was pretty sure he'd accept the challenge. She was almost wetting herself with tension when he finally said, "Okay, pack a couple of bags and be ready to leave tomorrow mid-morning. I'll see you later. Right now I'm at a dealer's negotiating to buy a pre-owned pickup... oh if you are coming perhaps I better switch to a sedan?" "No a pickup is fine. What color?" "She's a Ford F150 STX regular cab with retractable tonneau cover and is in great condition. The color goes by the sexy name of Redfire Metallic." "Oooh. Promise you'll take me with you?" "Yeah definitely." "Good I'm off to resign now." Half an hour later the Mayor's PA called Walker. "The Mayor has left for a meeting and asked me to invite you to dinner. She thought that was the courteous thing to do even though you are taking her daughter from her." "Thanks, I accept. Tell the Mayor to have drinks ready at 7:00." "I really don't think..." By then Walker had cut the call. Walker went home and squared up his account with Mrs Chappell and then had a drink with her and after that packed ready for his departure in the morning. He later drove over to Mayor Brown's home. She was still as a meeting and Molly ran out to greet him. "What do you think?" he asked, looking proudly at the pickup. "It's the first vehicle I've ever own as before this I always drove dad's vehicles." "It looks very manly and I love the color," Molly said and smiled when that response appeared to please Walker. "Should we fuck will waiting for your mother?" Molly colored and said yes, why not. "God it's taking me time to get used to you." "Okay I'll change." "No as you were buster. I rather like having a man who's come in from the wilds and doesn't leave me guessing what he's thinking and what he wants." "And I like you as you are Molly, don't change." Molly pulled off her panties and climbed on to the couch and after a bit of licking and fingering her, Walker took her doggy. They had finished and hastened to clean up when they heard Nancy's car arrive. Nancy kissed them both and said, "I gather you have purchased that vehicle in the driveway?" "Yeah, do you like it?" "The color is nice. I would have thought a car would have been a better purchase since Molly is going with you." Molly told her mom Walker had asked should he change his choice to a sedan but she said to stick with his first choice. "That was a kind offer Walker. It makes me feel confidence Molly will be in the right hands." "My hands will be all over her and often Nancy, never fear." After Walker left Nancy asked, "Have you told Walker about the incestuous relationship we've had?" "No. I decided he has no need to know because it ended when I took up with him." "That's an intelligent response and it pleases me to hear it darling. You've been away before but I always was confident you'd return. This time I fear you'll not return or if you do only fleetingly." "We'll just have to ride with it mom. I know he likes me but I have no idea how deeply he likes me and I can understand that because it appears he's been a bit of a loner since his mom died when he was only two. I think he resents she died before he was old enough to remember her." "Ah yes. Well I'm dead tired after a full day of meetings. It's time for some motherly advice. Don't be too obvious you are attempting to win his heart and secondly, if it doesn't appear to be working out come home to mommy." "That sounds good advice to me," Molly said, kissing and hugging her mom. When Molly emerged from the bedroom in the morning she found her mom had gone but had left an envelope with a kiss mark in lipstick. She pulled out a check and gasped... it was for twenty grand. The note stated: 'You won't want to be a kept woman so this will go towards paying your way on the road and for contributing to set up house when you settle. If you ever decide to have another crack at finishing a degree call me and I'll pay all your outgoings for your education. You have been a wonderful daughter and companion darling.' Molly called her mom to thank her and they had a big cry as they worked up to their final farewell. Finding Molly * * * Driving off next morning after Walker had stowed Molly's bags under cover in the tray he said, "You travel light for a woman." "Mom warned me you wouldn't want me bringing half the contents of the house." He grinned. She said sorry about last night. "Mom just didn't want me out of her sight." "That's okay. Things happen." Obviously Molly wasn't prepared to let it drop there. "If you want we can pull off into O'Hare's bush just before we turn on to Loop Highway. "It's fine Molly. I don't really think you should train me to shaft you every time I see you." She giggled and said "Asshole." That made him grin and he made her gasp when he added, "You are coming with me because I feel we are tremendously compatible, end of story. I'll try not to harp on this but I am really glad I found you Molly." Molly was just short of being a very good singer and she replied with, 'Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad'. "That was really great Molly. We should get you trained as a singer." "Cities are full of unemployed singers of merit." Walker scratched his chin and nodded. They both smiled as they went along the boundary of O'Hare's bush. At the turned off of Loop Highway to the Interstate Walker said he wanted Molly to chose which direction to take. "Don't you have a plan," she asked nervously. "Nope. Come on, be brave. Whatever direction you choose will be no more than fate." Molly waited a couple of minutes until they were entering the interchange system and Walker was moving his shoulders and rubbing the back of his neck as agitation built. "West." He gunned the motor and said, "My first choice." "Yes we are compatible," she said and a big mitt went over her nearest tit and squeezed it gently. On the bed at the motel Molly pulled her legs high and wide, holding them just below her ankles but Walker pulled the nearest one down and slid in beside her to begin a long period of kissing, licking and stroking. She was ecstatic because until now it seemed their sexual encounters had always been under pressure. She was practically gasping for it when she turned away, lifted a leg and grabbing the already dripping erection, pulled it into her pussy. She groaned as it slid in and for the first time Walker groaned audibly as his dick was enveloped by hot and soft pussy. "Come on big boy... fuck me proper until I scream." It was too early for folk in adjoining units to be asleep. They probably had the TV up loud while watching News. And so Walker delivered his partner's request and her lungs got a good airing before she bit into her arm to muffle the volume. "God that was wonderful," Molly sighed. "Would you object if I came off the pill. If I become pregnant, and that's what I want, I can return home to mom." "No objections. Do what you wish. I'm hungry... let's get a steak." They zigzagged westwards, avoiding really big cities and finally hit a Pacific Coast highway. After stopping for a swim in exhilarating surf Walker asked, "Which direction?" Without hesitation she said north and when he asked was she sure? Suddenly she wasn't quite so sure. He waited until she reaffirmed north and he said that was his choice too. She couldn't tell if he were lying. They progressed on minor highways where practical and they enjoyed the sights and sounds and warmth of California. Two days later they pulled into a motel in Monterey Bay south of Santa Cruz that appeared to have been built to harmonize with its environment and that was a pretty unusual sight for them after they had at times spoken derisively of some of the environmental 'monstrosities' seen on their journey. A thin elderly guy dressed with a thick shirt, as it was cooler in this latitude, arrived when Walker hit the desk rang bell. The guy appeared to be chewing lunch. Walker said nothing so Molly said, "Sorry we might be a bit early." "No problem," he said, eyeing her appreciatively. "The girls have finished some of the rooms at the rear. If you want a premium room overlooking the water you could return in an hour or so." "A 'girl' of fifty-something went by pushing a trolley with fresh linen and cleaning equipment. Molly held out twenty bucks and said, "Ma'am, would this small donation encourage you to make-up the best available room on the frontage for us right now?" The room attendant looked at the boss and he nodded. She left without a word, pocketing the money. "Young lady you have a way about you," said the guy, going behind the counter. "I invite you to consider managing this establishment if you are free to do so. My manager was taken ill two days ago and last night resigned." "Well perhaps you'll think about making me an offer and find temporary work for my boyfriend who is good with his hands and you may strike it lucky. We have only just come in from the east and haven't decided what to do yet." "You're joking," the guy beamed, looking at Molly's tits again. "Am I joking Walker?" "Of course not. You don't take men for fools." The old guy laughed and booked them in. He sat with them having coffee until the room attendant reappeared and smiled and said, "Unit A5 is ready for you ma'am." The stud height was not high to give the upper level units behind them a sea view but it was spacious with floor to ceiling windows along the seaward side. "This is cool," Walker said, having spent all his life inland and now finding he had a real liking for the ocean. "I like it here." "So you wish me to manage this establishment?" "Yeah if it appeals to you." "It would be only on a temporary basis. That owner will be looking for someone to buy management rights." "Well you try it for a couple of weeks and if it appeals buy the management rights." Molly sighed and said the term was likely to be for five years. "By the time you come to negotiate I'll know if I'll want to stay here. Perhaps we could lease the place." "The minimum term is likely to be five years and it will take thousands of dollars more than I have." ""How much?" "At lease thirty grand a year. The guy will want to pull out a living." "Then if everything stacks up let's do it. I have enough money to buy the lease. People will be attracted here because of golf courses and hiking and it allows them to escape the cities." Molly eyed him at little uneasily. "Is it true you could outlay one hundred and fifty grand?" "Yeah but that's just about my limit. I would suggest we pay him by the year and make sure we have the right to on-sell the lease subject to his approval." "God with $150,000 we could buy a business." "Yeah a chicken shit business in most instances compared with this. If we promoted this business imaginatively we could make a killing. The owner appears to have gone asleep, business-wise." Molly was so excited that she drew the drapes in the bedroom and pulled Walker on to the bed top. "Ram me you lovely man." Walker so no reason to restrain himself. Molly lay on her back holding just below her ankles and he drove in all the way incessantly and she pushed back. Finally with his balls on fire Walker came voluminously, howling like a wolf. Molly's excited cunt tightened around him and she milked him almost dry. "Oh boy," he gasped and she purred well done. At nightfall there was a knock at the door and it was the motel owner, or the guy they assumed owned the motel. He was wearing a jacket and tie. "I'd like to take you guys out to dinner... I suggest Moss Landing. I have a couple of propositions to put to you." As arranged, Molly worked for a fortnight under the guy Steven Ranger's supervision and at times Steven would go off and supervise Walker working with a Polish painter with little English and electrician/plumber guy who was hiding from his wife, to renovate fifteen units at a small retirement home Steven had purchased recently for a song. Steven was under a tight deadline to bring the premises up to standard or else the license to operate would be revoked. Walker flew into the work and managing the other two guys with gusto and within two days Steven had the confidence to visit only once a day to check on progress and to assign the work schedule for the next day. Molly too was progressing nicely once Stephen explained she had to toughen up a bit and drive personnel otherwise they'd slack off. Because Molly was full on and not afraid to jump in and show how the job should be done, she soon gained the respect of her all-female workforce plus the elderly handyman. At the end of Molly's two-week probationary period Stephen signed over the lease of the motels for three years to Molly and Walker. He was preparing to flick on the retirement home to new owners for a tidy profit and already had an option to purchase a block of twelve apartments that were overdue for renovation. "Well it looks like we are here for three years," Walker said the night Molly and he moved into the manager's apartment that was three times larger than their clifftop motel unit but without such a great sea view. "I should think longer," Molly said. "Steven has quite a flair as a property developer and certainly knows how to line one project up after another. I think you should talk to him about working at a cut rate now he has promoted you to construction manager and make that up by him forming a partnership with you with you taking a minority interest and sharing in profits proportionately." "I-I won't know what to say or to know if I'm getting a fair deal." "Well invite him over for dinner tomorrow night and I'll open the conversation by saying you are interested in arriving at some sort of profit-sharing deal and I think it has promise. You say it would give you extra incentive to move the work along even faster than you are doing now. He'll look at us and ask us to put our proposal. You begin and I'll chip in if you go off course or lose momentum." "Great thinking Molly. I'd like you to invite your mom our here to stay with us a few days. She ought to see how happy her daughter is and what a businesswoman she's becoming. You are now talking to me about things I really don't understand, financial stuff. She may also give you some ideas about lifting occupancy rates." "Oh darling, how thoughtful of you. At the rate we are going at it I ought to be pregnant before she arrives." EPILOGUE Eight months after Walker and Molly arrived in Northern California they married. Eleven months after that their daughter Ella was born, in perfect health. Three years after that the widower Steven Ranger died of a coronary and being without family had already legally named Walker as his beneficiary. When all the debts and back taxes were paid Steven ended up with just under $480,000 plus a wealth of building development experienced he'd also inherited from his senior partner who had been made godfather of Ella. When Nancy retired as Mayor she lived with Molly and Walker for eight and a half years before cancer ended her days. She left her considerable wealth to Molly. Between them Molly and Walker now own four motels in the region that all have managers installed and Molly runs their business from her office in town. They also own seven apartment blocks and recently acquired a rundown holiday park that they have approvals to increase to 36 RV sites, 24 tent sites and Stephen and his gang are building 30 economy and 20 luxury cabins plus communal facilities. The couple never talk to other people about their wealth and are very much part of their local community where most people could no way be called affluent. Ella is at high school and her sister Star enters high school next year they have a new brother called Fraser, who's eleven weeks old. Walker still drives his original F-150 and Molly buys a two-year old low mileage replacement Ford Explorer each year. The Wests are a happy family and following the last very unexpected pregnancy Molly had her tubes tied. THE END
