She lost her mind to him, which was how she thought about it - that she lost her mind, not her heart, - very early on in their relationship. Kate had moved to Atlanta a few months earlier from Chicago and was working for a publishing house. She lived downtown and could walk to her office from her condo. She was on her way to the office the morning that they met. She was standing in line at her favorite little cafe waiting for her cup of coffee when she heard a low voice with a slight twang in hear ear whisper, "You're about to lose your keys miss." She immediately reached for her purse and felt her house keys dangling precariously from the back of her handbag. She tentatively turned to give the stranger a smile and all of her hesitation melted away when she saw the handsome, well put together man standing before her. "Thanks," she murmured. She started to say more, to flirt with this man, but she saw a ring and decided against it. He was sweetly handsome. He looked like he was in his mid 40s and comfortably fit. Plump pink lips, trendy glasses, grey hair and goatee, and a twinkle in his eyes that gave Kate the impression that he just may be up to no good. He was not the type of man she was usually attracted to, but she immediately liked him. She smiled again and turned back around. They followed that routine for a week. They were always both in the coffee shop a few minutes before eight each morning. They almost always exchanged a few pleasantries but that was all. Names were not exchanged. After the first week, the flirting started. It was easy, good flirting. He could make her blush with a few words and she could make his eyebrows perk with just as few. She learned that his name was David; he lived in a more rural area outside of the city, took the train in each day, and had been married for just over seven years. He found out that she was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, was single and new to the area, and was much more chipper after her first sip of coffee. He had felt his body stir the first day they'd met. His eyes took a moment to focus on her keys dangling nearly out of her purse because they were busy being focused on her perfect round behind. And when she turned around and fixed her blue gaze on him, he found himself wishing he could take her somewhere private and show her just what she was stirring inside of him. Kate appeared to be fairly reserved to an outside observer. She kept her light brown hair pretty short, usually in a flirty little bob. She typically wore glasses to the office – she felt like it made her look more like she belonged in the publishing world. And she kept her clothes limited to trousers and blouses, with the occasional skirt thrown in, most usually when the weather was warm. At only 27, she and worked hard to get where she was and wanted to be able to stand on the merit of her work, not the curves of her body. David saw right through this. He could see the curves plain as day and sometimes had a hard time not imagining how it would feel to slide his hands along them. As the days passed and they began to open up to each other, sometimes actually arriving early so that they could sit and have a cup of coffee before each heading off to work, David learned more about Kate. And the more he learned, the more he wanted to know. They didn't talk very much about their personal lives. During one of their conversations the second week David made mention of his wife, but that was it. Kate did not talk about her dating life either. They focused on baseball and their pets and movies and music and things they loved in life. For Kate it was so wonderful to have a male friend whom she could just talk to. Though they did flirt, Kate knew she didn't have to worry about David hitting on her or how their relationship would change if they slept together. They both knew that's just not what their dynamic was all about. They were buddies. Their minds clicked in a way that made conversations effortless, and though they were both attracted to each other, they seemed to know that was just off limits. Kate realized she was in serious trouble a few weeks after they had first met. That weekend, Kate had a date with someone her friends had set her up with and, though the gentleman was cute and sweet, she found herself comparing him to David the entire evening. She didn't fully realize she was doing it until she got home and was speaking to her friend on the phone trying to describe what wasn't just right about the guy. It hit her like a ton of bricks as she leaned against her counter, sipping wine and chatting with her friend. After she hung up the phone, she thought to herself, "He may be the perfect guy for me. But he's married. And if anything happened I would never be able to trust him in a relationship." She realized at that point that she had to either come to grips with the fact that he was meant to be just an acquaintance or she had to find a new coffee shop. The thought that if she simply stopped showing up at their shop he would probably never think about her again was a sudden and rather painful one for Kate. She decided that even though he might think she was crazy, she was going to talk to him about it Monday morning. She showed up at 7:30am Monday. She waited in line, buying two cups of coffee, and sat fiddling with the creamer while she waited. He finally arrived a few minutes later and took a seat across from her in their small booth. He gave her a small smile, but she failed to see it where it was usually the brightest, in his eyes. Immediately she knew something was wrong. She furrowed her brow and asked him right away if he was ok. She didn't even know where to begin with asking him what might be the matter because she really knew nothing about his life outside of how he liked his coffee and how much he loved the Yankees. He just gave her a little sigh and shook his head, clearly unsure of where to begin. He lifted his hands in a little shrugging motion and she noticed his sudden lack of jewelry. She let out a soft little cry as she realized what must have happened. She didn't know what to say to him. Her first instinct was to ask a million questions, but the tired look in his eyes prevented her from doing so. Kate noticed now that David also looked especially out of place this morning because he was wearing jeans instead of his typical dress pants, crisp shirt, and colorful tie. She opened her mouth to say something, anything somewhat comforting, but could come up with nothing. As David sat watching her bright eyes put it all together, he felt a little tug in his chest that he hadn't felt as he watched his wife pack her bags and leave him. He knew things weren't great with them, but he expected them to get through the rough patch and come out happy on the other side. Unfortunately he failed to mention this to his wife. He supposed they both failed to do a lot of things. But as he watched Kate's eyes go from curious to concerned he knew that for the first time in three days he was happy to be exactly where he was. She pushed his cup of coffee over to his side of the table as she reached into her bag to pull out her phone. He watched with questioning eyes as she dialed quickly while passing him the cream. "Anthony, it's Kate. I'm taking a personal day. Yes. I emailed the edits last night. OK. You too. Bye." She kept her eyes locked on his as she spoke, trying to make it clear that she wanted to be there for him if he needed it. She watched as the corners of his mouth curled up ever so slightly into a little smile and the previously missing twinkle returned just for a second to his grey eyes. "Look David," she said pausing before continuing, "I know that I don't know you very well at all. And I can only imagine and assume what's going on in your life right now, but I am here for you. All day. If you want to sit here and drink coffee, or go to a movie, or go shopping, or tell me everything, or tell me nothing; I'm here. All day." He let out a long slow breath and tried to break their eye contact, but couldn't. "Kate, that's the best offer I've had in a long time. " Kate felt herself exhale a breath she'd been holding since she made her little speech and she gave him a smile. She picked up her mug of coffee and took a slow sip, giving him a minute to either change the subject or tell his tale. And so he talked. He told her about his weekend. How he'd come home from work Friday evening to find half of his belongings being packed and a tearstained wife standing in the bedroom doorway. He told her how, before his wife even got one word out, he knew in a flash exactly what was happening. He said that he could see all of the moments that had been horribly wrong in their marriage all at once and it occurred to him that one of them should have done this months and months ago. Kate sat back and listened. She had a few friends who had gone through divorces already and had learned the hard way that nothing she could say would be of much help. So she just leaned back and let him talk. David found her silence and her kind eyes to be a bucket that he wanted desperately to fill. He let his words pour out and made admissions that he had only half admitted to himself before, let alone said out loud. He told her that when he got married, he knew it was a mistake. Not that marrying his wife was a mistake, but getting married in general was a terrible mistake. At this she touched his arm and said, "David, I don't know how you're feeling right now. I've never really been there. I've been through bad breakups; I've just never felt what you're feeling. But I do know this: how you feel right now, you will not feel forever. And that's just true. Whether you're horribly sad or wonderfully happy, you will not feel that way forever." He finally curbed his words and simply nodded, pondering her words for a moment. "Alright," he said finally, "enough of that. Let's get out of here and I am taking you up on your offer of a day of distractions. No more sad talk. No more divorce talk. No more wife talk. Only you and I and an entire day." She smiled at his words, forcing herself to ignore the "you and I" part. Kate told herself that he clearly meant nothing by it. She had offered friendship and a fun day. Nothing more. As he smiled in return, Kate bit her bottom lip and reminded herself yet again that he was just a friend going through a hard time, not a man to pine for. Most certainly not a man to pine for right now. They finished their coffee and set out. They began their day by just walking around, window shopping, chatting, enjoying each other's company. They caught an early afternoon movie, shared snacks, and had a good time dissecting the finer points of the film on the walk back towards her condo. David had suggested an early dinner together after they left the theater and Kate wanted to change out of her work apparel and into something more casual. His phone rang as she was opening her door so she left him outside to talk while she changed out of her slacks and blouse and into a pair curve hugging jeans and a tank top. She slipped her glasses off and popped in her contacts, playing with her hair and putting on a little make up. She scolded herself for letting first date butterflies build up in her stomach while she was changing. She fastened a necklace around her throat and gave herself one last look in the mirror, satisfied that she looked good hopefully without letting David know that she wanted to look good. He heard her door open and started to say something as he turned around to greet her but his words caught in his throat when he saw her. "Shit," he muttered, "you're beautiful." Her already wide eyes widened even more at his words and she had to fight to keep the blush that started on her cheeks from spreading down her neck. She shooed his words away and fell into step next to him. "No Kate, seriously, you look incredible. I mean, work Kate is gorgeous, but casual Kate is sexy as hell." She couldn't keep the smile off of her face as she shook her head. "Oh stop it, you're just on the rebound," she shot back. "True," he returned, "but if I'm on the rebound then I'm taking you home tonight." She felt her body tingle at his words but she refused to respond to them. She was suddenly very aware of the heat of his body next to hers as they walked along. And she was keenly aware of his strong firm hand on the small of her back as he ushered her into the restaurant. She tried to keep a clear head, but it just got harder and harder as the evening progressed. Their conversation was just too easy, the wine was just too good, and the meal was just too intimate. Right down to the chocolate cheesecake that they shared for dessert. She tried to keep her moans of pleasure under control when she took the first bite of the chocolate amazingness on the plate in front of them, but she just couldn't. When she opened her eyes after swallowing, she was surprised by the look of unbridled lust she saw in David's eyes. She'd seen glimpses of that look before when they were letting their coffee shop flirting go one step too far, but it had always been a bit hidden and cleverly disguised. Now it was raw and wide open. Their eyes met, and for a moment he almost looked embarrassed for being caught watching her so wantonly. "Kate..." he started, but she shook her head and cut him off before he could say any more. Kate leaned in, her slips still sticky and sweet, and kissed him. It caught them both by surprise and she was about to pull away and apologize when a low growl sprung from his chest. David deepened the kiss, taking her by the arms and pulling her closer to him. Kate's little gasp of surprise was muffled by David's tongue as it began to slip past her lips. The sensation was electric. She felt her entire body warm as blood began to rush to the now throbbing spot between her legs. They tasted each other, nibbling softly on lips and tongues, exploring, learning, until the waiter cleared his throat and set down the check. David seemed intent to continue, but Kate pulled her head back and gave him a warning smile as she licked her lips, tasting him still. His eyes followed her tongue as he reached for the bill, dismissing the waiter. Kate slid away from him just a little as she tried to catch her breath and calm her mind. "David..." she started unsure of how she was going to finish. But before she could worry about it, he cut her off. "I know," he said. "I know that this is a terrible idea and we really barely know each other and I'm supposedly fragile right now, but I don't care. I want you. I've wanted you from the moment you first looked up at me. In fact I've wanted you from the moment just before that when all I'd seen was the back of you." Kate opened her mouth to answer, but all she could do was grin. "This is crazy," was all she could manage to get out. David simply returned her grin and nodded. He finished signing the receipt and took her hand, leading her towards the exit. "I told you I was taking you home," he said rather hoarsely when they hit the sidewalk. She squeezed his hand as they walked along. Kate wanted to tell him that she didn't do this sort of thing, that she'd never slept with someone she wasn't actually with, but she didn't. There wasn't any reason to. David knew. And he knew that she wanted him in a way that she'd never wanted anyone else. It felt primal, instinctive. So to him, it just couldn't be wrong. He took her keys from her and opened the front door to her condo when they arrived. She closed and locked the door behind them, as she slipped her shoes off. Kate took him by the hand and led him down the hall to her bedroom. She could hear his breathing quicken as they entered. She led him to the edge of the bed and sat him down, his eyes locked on her in wonder the entire time. Her cheeks broke into a soft smile when she heard the low moan come from him as she pulled her top off. "Oh my god Kate..." he whispered. She was happy with her body and was even happier to see just how much he liked it. It took her the duration of her early 20s but Kate had come to love her curves. She took a step back from David as she undid her jeans, slipping them down her full soft hips. She heard his breath catch at the sight of her standing in just her bright blue bra and panties. For a moment she thought that she should feel uncomfortable stripping for a man she'd only shared coffee and one great date with, but the look in his eyes stopped her from these thoughts. His eyes told her not to stop, that he needed what she was offering more than anything. She stepped forward, reaching to unbutton his shirt, her fingers working slowly, carefully. She felt David's firm hands slid along her back and down across her hips. It was her turn to moan softly when his hands came into contact with her warm skin. She freed him from his shirt as he lay back, pulling her down with him. He buried his face in her neck as he inhaled her deeply. He scooted up the bed until he was half sitting up and then rolled them so that he was hovering above her. Their eyes met in the dim light of Kate's bedroom and he growled lowly, "I'm going to taste every inch of you." Her breath stuttered and she nodded, knowing that it wasn't a question. He crawled painfully slowly down her body, nibbling and kissing as he went. He softly kissed his way down her stomach, his hands preceding his lips, travelling down along her thighs, pulling her legs apart. Kate was anxious for him to find what lay between them. She was carefully shaved and dripping wet. Her pool of wetness had started to build during their after dinner kiss and every touch of his skin against hers up until now had caused it to grow. When his fingers finally slid across the dampest part of her panties he let out a hungry groan, as if he had stumbled upon a secret treasure that he had only dared to hope might exist. He looked up at her and told her to take her bra off. Kate leaned up and instantly did as he asked, realizing that she had now put herself fully and completely in his hands. She was in. She wanted anything and everything that he was offering to her. His eyes fixed on her round firm breasts pleased to see that her nipples were already hard. He couldn't help the proud smile that crept onto his face when he realized just how aroused she was. Her hips wriggled, bringing his focus from her gently heaving breasts back to what lie before him. David licked his lips and gently slid a finger across her panty covered mound. Kate's body shuddered at the contact that he finally gave her. But she wanted so much more. David looped one finger under the thin fabric of her panties and pulled them to the side, giving him an unobstructed view of what he singularly wanted. His eyes darkened when he finally got a glimpse of her glistening lips. He felt his mouth water at the sight and surprised himself with his own reserve as he planted several slow and soft kisses along her thighs, carefully working his way closer. Kate moaned louder, her hips moving with anticipation. She felt like a goddess as David marveled at her body, but she needed to feel his lips and tongue on her. Now. He finally dipped his head and made contact, sliding his tongue through her wettest spot and up to her very sensitive clit. Kate sharply breathed in as she forced her body to relax, fighting the urge to clench every muscle she had around his head and grind away for all she was worth. Her hands traveled down her body, slipping over her breasts first, then down her stomach, her hips, and finally to the back of David's head. She traced her fingertips along the back of his neck before gripping his shoulders, half massaging and half digging her nails in. Then she moved her hand to grip the thin piece of fabric seperating her from David's warm mouth. She held it firm, giving him full access. David and Kate Ch. 02 I'd recommend reading the original "David and Kate" though I suppose it's not entirely necessary. I'd like to thank my sweet sexy friend Monicker for his assistance editing this chapter. Enjoy! * Kate shook her head, pulling herself out of the tenth daydream of the morning. She was still having a hard time believing what had happened the night before. It was only 11am, but she was fairly sure that she'd replayed the entire day and evening in her head, in its entirety, at least a half dozen times. And she couldn't keep the smile off of her face each time she did. She felt like a goddess. Her body was still humming from David's soft touches, gentle rubs, and more satisfyingly demanding thrusts. Each time an image from the previous night flashed though her mind, she felt a sweet warmth pool in her body and leave her breathless. He had made her feel like the most sensual, desired creature he'd ever had the good fortune to encounter, and she was hungry for more. Kate knew that she had a little extra swagger in her step as she walked into her office, and she couldn't help but wonder if others were picking up on her changed attitude. Kate didn't sleep around. She hardly even dated. She typically had no patience for the games and the run around that dating brought into her life. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew that she'd have to actually take part in it one day if she wanted to find someone to share her life with, but for the time being she really wasn't all that interested. She would go out with her friends from time to time and flirt and dance and drink a little, but that was usually enough to satisfy any curiosity she had about finding a guy. It never took long when she did go out for her to remember why she so thoroughly enjoyed staying in. Her partial lack of a dating life was a big reason why the encounter with David had her so thrown. She couldn't help but wonder if it meant anything or if it really was just a nice distraction for him from his mess of a real life. She was fairly certain that she could be happy just being that distraction for a while. Each time she thought about David as she pretended to work she had the same torn reaction. She wanted more of him, but she was having a hard time convincing herself that it was ok to allow herself to explore with him. There were several red flags; however, the way he had made her feel the night before was most certainly worth overlooking a few little red flags. Kate's internal struggle continued as she took a break from her editing to grab a quick lunch. She thought for a moment about the turkey sandwich that was waiting for her in the fridge and grabbed her purse, deciding to have lunch outside of the office. As Kate walked along, she almost felt guilty for sneaking out that morning, but she kept telling herself that she had to get to work. David had taken the week off to try to sort some things out, so he had the luxury of sleeping in. She'd left a note on her kitchen table telling him to help himself to anything and that she'd see him soon. Kate blushed as she thought of the three previous versions of the note she had tucked away in her purse now. She just couldn't quite find the right words. She had gone through a few options: "Thanks for the amazing sex, help yourself to some fruit.", or "Hey remember how you're still married, get out of my house.", or "I've never felt how you made me feel. Thanks." Ultimately she had a hard time deciding on a proper note because she really had no idea how she felt about the whole encounter. Part of her thought that they should keep it light and enjoy it. They both were clearly in need of a good romp and could apparently be great outlets for each other. But another part of her thought that was extremely dangerous. How long can two people who get along have amazing sex without the thought of something more creeping in? She was not even close to ready to let him into her life like that. Kate had her own reasons for being tentative about getting involved, and the man was still married. This thought bothered her the most. Sure, his wife had left, but what if she came back? What if she regretted her decision and had a moment of clarity and showed up back at David's home tomorrow begging for forgiveness and wanting to come home? Of course David would have to give it a chance. Kate refused to see herself as the type of person who would cause a marriage to end, and she certainly didn't want to be David's excuse for its demise either. She shook her head as she walked down the busy street to a little deli. As much as she didn't want to, as much as she wanted what they had to just blissfully continue in a self contained little world, she knew she had to talk to him about it. She pulled her phone out and searched in her contact list for David's cell. He had made her take it the previous night at dinner before she had blindly and foolishly kissed him. She took a seat on a bench outside of the deli and felt her stomach tighten when she heard the first ring. ******* David stretched luxuriously from the tips of his fingers to the tips of his toes in Kate's warm bed. He rolled onto his back, smiling to himself as he glanced at the clock. He could not remember the last time he had peacefully slept in until 11am. He snuck a peek across the bed, half hoping Kate would be there, but he knew that she would have gotten up early and gone to work. He wished he had asked her to take another day off with him, but he knew better. He had a hunch that Kate was the type of woman who would have a very hard time changing her life and her routines for anyone, let alone a man she hardly knew. David pulled himself into a sitting position and propped himself up against the head board. As he glanced around the bedroom, he couldn't help the flashes of the previous night's activities that slid through his mind. The more he thought about it, the more he ached for the look that he saw in her eyes. It was so very intense and filled with longing. He kept picturing Kate after she came for him. He had to see it again. He wanted to make her look that way again and again and again. He felt himself harden at the thought and he enjoyed the feeling of Kate's heavy sheets rubbing against his now sensitive body. He closed his eyes and tried to calm his body. "Relax man," he told himself, "you're acting like a sex starved teenager. What is wrong with you?" His lust for Kate surprised David, though he supposed it really shouldn't. It wasn't as though his marriage had been sexless. They had had a pretty healthy sex life, even up until the end. As his thoughts drifted to the end of his marriage he began to make a mental list. He had already called his lawyer on Saturday and had an afternoon appointment with him today. After that he was planning on calling his realtor to talk about putting the house on the market. He didn't want the burden or the reminder of their home anymore. He felt like he wanted to tell Kate about his plans. He wanted her to know that it really was over and he really was moving forward, regardless of how fast it seemed. He knew that she would tell him that he needed time, and that was probably true. But the thought of denying what he wanted with Kate seemed silly to him. He wanted her. Simple. And he knew she wanted him. For David, Kate was a very pleasant reminder that his life could still be new and exciting. He just wasn't quite sure he could express his thoughts to her without making it sound like he just wanted sex from her. As he blinked the sleep from his eyes he glanced out the bedroom door and across the hall to the bathroom. He tried to remember his morning after etiquette. It had been a lot of years since he had woken up alone in a woman's home. He figured he was at least allowed to shower and have a cup of coffee. He smiled to himself imagining Kate scolding him if she knew he was questioning what he was allowed to do in her house. "You just came in me," he imagined her saying with a smirk in her voice, "of course you can use my fucking shower." Her direct way of cutting right to the chase was something that David really appreciated about her. Even through all of their coffee shop discussions, Kate had never sugar coated anything. When she thought he was wrong, she let him know. In a world where a lot of people kissed his ass and did what he said, it was very refreshing to spend time with someone completely opposite. She was delightfully unaware of just how straightforward and honest she was. It was as if it had never occurred to her to act any other way. And he liked her all the more for it. David took a quick shower, forcing himself to ignore the throb the scent of her soap sent coursing through his body. He was again surprised by how quickly and forcefully his desire for her sprang up. He was already thinking about all of the things he wanted to do with her the next time he got her into bed. David had always been a very sexual man, but this was the first time in his memory when he had such a singular fascination with one woman. If he had thought about it any harder, it would have scared him just a little. He made his way into the kitchen, dressed in his clothes from the previous day, and looked for the coffee maker and a mug, smiling to himself as he read Kate's note. "Mmm," he thought to himself, "anything huh Kate?" He couldn't help but wonder if she meant to entice him even further with the note or if it was all just part of the raw sexiness she seemed to naturally exude unaware. As he stood waiting for the coffee to brew he checked the time. He had enough time to go home, grab a quick lunch, change, and make it back into the city for his afternoon appointments. He cringed a little thinking about how unpleasant the visit with his lawyer was going to be, but he wanted it all to go smoothly. If he knew his wife at all, she would want to just split it all evenly and move on. As the smell of coffee filled Kate's small kitchen, David's mind wandered back to his wife. She was a good person and he cared about her, but they just didn't have much of a relationship anymore. They both worked way too much and neither one of them put any effort into keeping their lives connected. They had gotten to the point over the past few months where they hardly even shared the details of their days with each other. He wondered momentarily if perhaps she'd already found someone new. He tried to muster up some jealousy at the thought, and did manage a tad, but if that was the case then mostly he was just happy she had someone to fill the void he was sure he'd left her with long before her weekend goodbye. David poured a mug full of coffee and was reaching into Kate's fridge when he felt his phone begin to vibrate in his pocket. He set the milk on the counter and reached to answer his phone, the pace of his heart increasing when he saw who it was. "Kate," he smiled warmly as he answered. "Hi David," she said simply in greeting, but he could hear the smile in her voice as well. Kate fought to keep the smile out of her voice as it crept in. She wanted to be serious for a moment without flirting with him, but the second she heard him drawl her name, she knew that would be close to impossible. "You're not still in bed are you?" she asked with a slow smile. "No. But I can get back in if you'd like to pass the time." Kate bit her bottom lip, keeping the moan she felt in her gut from escaping her lips. "No, you better stay out of my bed." She heard his soft chuckle and was relieved that he didn't seem to think she was sounding too harsh, but she also heard a little inkling of fear in his voice when he said, "I don't think you really want me to stay out of your bed entirely." She shook her head, knowing he couldn't see her, but didn't answer him. Instead she said, "David, I was hoping that we could meet for dinner tonight. I feel like we need to talk about last night a little bit and I know that it was nothing and it was just one night and just a distraction for you and it was incredible, I mean completely incredible, but I just..." "Kate," he cut her off in a commanding tone, "slow down. You're rambling. I agree, but it wasn't nothing. I'd love to have dinner with you tonight." His calm tone was disarming. She couldn't tell if he meant that it wasn't nothing because he just wanted more of her body or if it wasn't nothing because he wanted more of them together in any capacity. Even more troubling for Kate was the fact that she really didn't care. She just wanted to know what his expectations were. With that realization, Kate felt the power shift in her mind subtly to David. He had no idea, of course, but for a second she found herself willing to be whatever he needed, whatever he wanted her to be. That thought scared the hell out of her. "Ok David," she said softly. "I'll meet you somewhere?" "No, I'll pick you up. How's 7ish sound?" "Sounds good. I'll see you then. And I..." she trailed off. David waited a moment for her to finish her thought until it became clear that she wasn't going to. "I'll see you tonight Kate." "See you." Kate shook her head and shoved her phone into her bag, feeling very annoyed with herself. She had wanted to come across as light and breezy, just two friends chatting, but somehow the conversation and slipped into the realm of intense. Whatever happened, she did not want him to think that she needed him or had to see him. The last thing Kate wanted was to tie herself to someone, even if that person could shake her to the core with just a kiss. She blushed at the thought and quickly hurried into the deli to finish her already too long lunch. ******* Kate bustled around trying to be ready by 7 o'clock. She had gotten home an hour earlier and had just enough time to shower and change. She was already on her third dress. The first one had been far too casual, though she didn't know where they were going. The second had been way too sexy. She already felt a little bit like a sex toy with David so she didn't really want to gift wrap herself and advertise it. The third dress seemed to pass as she looked at herself in the full length mirror in her closet. It was deep blue, which brought out her eyes, and it wrapped around her body settling in a v-neck position that accentuated her curves without making them look obscene. Most importantly, she felt comfortable in it. She heard her doorbell and scampered to the door in bare feet. She smiled warmly in greeting when she saw David standing in dark jeans and a simple clean crisp white button up shirt. Her eyes twinkled as she took in the sight of him. His warm presences filled up her doorway and she couldn't help but inhale the scent of him. He gave her a little smile which quickly faded to a much lustier look as his eyes travelled down and then back up her body. "Good lord..." he murmured softly. "Come in," she beckoned with a flick of her head, resisting the urge to kiss him in greeting, "I just need to grab shoes, then we can go." David correctly read the look in her eye and he gave her a little devilish smirk as he tucked his hands in his pockets and strolled into her living room. "Mmhm," he toned softly watching her. She spun around and headed back to her room mentally choosing a pair of shoes from her closet, expecting David to wait in living room. Instead, she heard his voice right behind her as she slipped into her closet, grabbing a pair of dark red heels. "You look beautiful," he said simply, his warm breath playing on the back of her neck. She closed her eyes, still with her back to him, and composed herself and her reaction before she turned around. "Thanks," she smiled as she closed her closet door behind her, "you look very handsome yourself." He took a step back and leaned against the doorway of her bedroom, looking like leaving her room was the last thing on his mind. Their eyes met and Kate saw the hunger lurking in his. She knew in that moment that she could slip into his arms and pull him into her bed for hours and hours. She knew if she did that then they wouldn't have to go to dinner and talk about what they were doing and why. It was a very tempting thought. But Kate broke their gaze, reaching onto her bed for her purse, and walked to the door. She stood a few feet back from him, the look on her face clearly telling him that it was time to go. He hesitated for a moment, gave her a playful frown and finally conceded. He stepped aside, letting her lead the way to the front door. David bit his tongue, wanting to say something about how he'd much prefer to follow her, especially in that dress. Something in her eyes made him hold his tongue and he was once again torn. He wondered how he could make her understand what she did to him without making it sound like it was either just sex, or, even worse, something more. He did not want to just sleep with her, but he also knew that he couldn't tell her that he wanted more. He played with his empty ring finger, an old habit that he didn't think would go away any time soon, and thought about what he was going to say to her at dinner. As they strolled down Kate's block heading out towards the busier main street, David offered her his arm, which she happily took, sliding her arm through the crook of his. They walked in surprisingly comfortable silence, neither wanting to be the first to speak. She glanced over at him, the urge to clear the air suddenly strong. "David," she started softly, "I... I am not even sure where to begin. I guess I am mostly just curious to know what you want. I mean, I know there is a lot going on with you right now and as much as I don't mind being a distraction from it all, the last thing I want is to be an excuse for you to turn your back on something you shouldn't." She let her words hang in the air for a moment and then snuck a glance over at him. She saw him looking thoughtful, composing his words before he spoke. "Well just jump right into it without much of a preamble. Kate, oh Kate," he sighed with a smile on his face that slowly faded. "I wish I had a clear simple answer for you, but I don't. I do know that I loved spending yesterday with you and whatever it is that I was feeling last night with you made me wake up this morning wanting more. I woke up wanting more of that feeling and more of you." Kate nodded and felt her heart pound in response. "I agree David. I mean, shoot, how could I not. Last night was... I want to say amazing, but that sounds too mediocre for what we did. I don't think I've ever connected like that with someone so powerfully, regardless of how long I've known him." "I also know that the last thing you need right now is to develop, or even think you are developing, feelings for someone." At her last words, David stopped walking. He turned rather abruptly to face Kate, his eyes wide with argument. Instead of voicing his disagreement, he leaned in quickly and captured her lips with his, kissing her deeply and intensely. He softly but needily sucked her bottom lip into his mouth, tasting her sweetness. His tongue slid along her lips and wound its way in, sliding along her tongue, twirling around it. Before Kate could fully comprehend what was happening, she was kissing him back, her hands gripping his shoulders as she felt his hands slide up and down her back, brushing across her bottom with each swoop. She'd all but forgotten what she had said as he broke the kiss, stepping back under a tree in the setting sun. "Do you think you and I have any control over what may or may not develop between us?" he asked, his voice husky and low. She blushed, knowing he proved his point so easily with just a kiss. Her lips quirked into a smile and all she could do was shrug. "Of course we don't have any control over it, but," she trailed off for a moment, "but we can try to keep it under control especially if where it might lead is bad for one or both of us." David and Kate Ch. 02 His eyes dipped to her lips and his gaze grew hungry again. "Do you really think that were this is leading is bad for you?" She shook her head and bit her bottom lip. "No, in the heat of the moment it's very good David. You know that. But in the long run, it wouldn't be." "And," she continued before he could interrupt, "I'm not saying I don't want to go along for the ride. I just want to know what I'm signing up for." He smiled at her as they stood in the shade of the tall tree on her quiet block. "So you want us to come up with some rules?" Kate nodded then shook her head. "I don't know. That sounds so clinical, but I think we do need to discuss what we both expect and want, and perhaps setting up some boundaries wouldn't hurt either." His eyes smiled brightly down at her. "Oh Kate, my little organizer, of course you want to set up rules and regulations for hot sex." She first grinned at his description of her, but her smile faded as she processed fully what he'd said. Rules and regulations for hot sex. Just hot sex. Nothing more. He watched as her grin faded and he raised his eyebrows. "Because you don't want anything else with me right now, right? I'm married and on the verge of going through a divorce and moving out of my house and into the city. I'm probably an emotional mess right now and not a good choice for a beautiful successful single woman to make. Right?" She heard the challenge in his voice as he listed all of the reasons she should walk away from him. She nodded slowly. "Right. That's probably all correct. And as much as I want to tell you to give me a call in six months when you're stable and healthy, I..." Kate trailed off. David nodded, encouraging her to continue. Her voice softened. "I don't want to wait for you. I want more of you. And if you're broken, then you're broken. You'll mend." David's smile grew wider as she spoke. "I'll mend huh?" She met his soft gaze and nodded slowly. "Eventually." His eyes dipped to her lips once again as he focused in on her soft plump pink bottom lip. David took a step towards Kate and she instinctively took a step back until she felt the rough bark of the tall tree stop her. She looked up at him with wide eyes and let out a soft moan as she felt his hands slip around her waist, holding her in place, pressed between the wall of this body and the strength of the tree behind her. He kissed her softly and slowly, tasting her almost tentatively, as if he were trying a new delicacy for the first time. He quickly moaned his desire into her mouth and pressed on, deepening the kiss until her arms were around him and their bodies were pressed tightly together, his knee between her thighs. He felt her respond feverishly with her lips and tongue at first and then gradually with her entire body. Her breasts pressed against his chest, the thin fabrics of her dress and his shirt doing very little to deaden the current between them. She began to rock her hips gently, causing her now throbbing regions to grind sweetly against his jean clad leg. Kate wasn't even fully concious of what she was doing. She just knew that she needed to feel more of David against her and as their kisses continued, her body trembled with want. She felt her pulsing wetness grow and she heard a deep animalistic purr spring from her throat. His fingers dug into her soft hips as he clung to her, not wanting to let go. He felt like he couldn't get enough of her body pressed against, nearly wrapped around, his. The feeling of her thighs tight against his leg was almost too much for him to take. His brain begain to quickly decipher the best way to take her against the tree, prying eyes be damned. Rather unwillingly Kate pulled away. "David..." she panted a little breathlessly, "Stop. We can't do this." David let out a little groan of disappointment. "Dammit Kate," he panted looking down at her with nearly pleading eyes, "I thought we just covered this. Yes, we can." Kate's wide playful eyes met his and she waited a beat before responding. "No we cannot. Not against this tree on a public street. The street I live on none the less!" David's relieved smile gradually turned into a predatory smirk. "Then let's go somewhere a little more private." Kate firmly planted her palms against David's chest. "No sir. You are taking me to dinner. That is how a second date works. Dinner then home where you hope to score. Not the other way around. And we are most certainly not skipping dinner. Some of us actually worked hard today." As David let Kate push him away he smiled. Reaching for her hand, they resumed their walk towards the restaurant. "Hey now, I did a lot today. I spoke to my lawyer, put my house on the market, and found a few apartments I'd like to rent." She pursed her lips in an impressed fashion and nodded. "Good David. That's all very good for you." He gave her hand a little squeeze. "Yes, it is. And I want to tell you all about it over a nice quiet dinner. And if you're really good, sweet Kate, I'll even let you choose who gets to be dessert." David and Kate He took her motions as encouragement and began to focus all of his energy on making her feel as good as possible with his lips and tongue, bringing his fingers up to help after a few minutes. Kate was dripping wet and when David slid his finger into her, she felt perfectly complete. The dual sensations sent her thighs into a series of shakes and shudders that she could not control. When David felt Kate begin to let go, he slid his other hand between her legs and began to gently massage her ass, testing the waters. Her moans of pleasure grew even louder as his tongue fell into a steady rhythm on her clit, matching the motion of his finger curled inside of her and his other hand on her ass and between her cheeks. Every nerve she had was singing for more. Before she was even fully ready for it, Kate's back arched and her heels dug into her bed, driving her body harder against David's face and hands as she fully lost control, an orgasm overtaking her as she crested once, then twice, his motions not ceasing. She gasped for breath as she felt her face and neck flush deeply, her body trembling, her hips jumping as his movements finally began to slow. Kate's breathing began to calm down and her eyes fluttered open. She looked down and saw David looking up at her, the look on his face one of unbridled lust and pure awe. "Jesus..." she panted trying to find the proper words for what he just did to her. "Mmhm," he agreed simply, his cheek resting against her inner thigh as they both recovered. David slid up next to Kate, resting on his side, his head propped up on his elbow as he watched her gain control again. He couldn't keep the smile out of his eyes as he watched her carefully and when she locked her eyes on his he was surprised to find hers filled even more with lust for him. He knew that look. He loved that look. She needed more of him and he was very ready to give it. He slipped off of her bed, standing to remove his jeans. Kate hooked her thumbs into the sides of her panties and tugged them off while he watched, kicking his jeans away. Kate rolled onto her stomach and let out a low growl at the sight of him standing in just his boxer briefs, his beautiful bulge quite apparent. David let his eyes trail across her now naked body. He loved her ass. He loved her hips. He loved her smooth back and her long neck. He wanted to do more to her than one night together would allow. He wanted unlimited nights with her. He wanted more than he fully understood or would admit in that moment. She looked up at him with soft eyes filled with desire for him, her thoughts echoing his. He slid his hand across his rock hard cock, still hidden by his shorts and cocked an eyebrow as if to say, "This, you want this?" Kate let out a purring sound and nodded her head, writhing on her bed, still on her stomach. "I need you..." she whispered, "inside of me David. Now," her voice growing firmer and more demanding with each word. He nodded and lowered his brow as he pulled down on the band of his shorts, revealing himself to her fully. She couldn't help but stare and take him in. He was perfect. Thick and hard and perfect. She could see precum oozing from his tip and she had an overwhelming urge to kneel and take him in her mouth until he was begging her to stop. But before she could, he was pressing his body against her. She felt the weight of his body as he pressed his chest and legs and throbbing cock against her back and legs and throbbing pussy. Kate felt his lips slide across her shoulder and she shuddered, grinding into her top sheet. He continued kissing across the top of her back and neck, giving her goose bumps. She slid her legs open for him, arching her back, feeling his hard length slide between her legs and along her perfect wetness. He groaned loudly her in ear, his breath hot and wanting. His hands slid down to her hips, pulling her body up as he raised himself into a better position. David slid his hands along her ass cheeks, cupping them, digging his fingers in, and feeling all of her. She loved that he seemed to be unable to touch enough of her. She'd never felt so sexy before, so desired. "Kate," he moaned clearly intending to get her attention. She looked back over her shoulder at him to see the incredibly erotic sight of her ass in the air and him kneeling behind her. Their eyes locked as she felt the head of his thick cock pressing slowly in. He pushed in slightly and she gasped at the sensation. He continued on inch by inch, taking his time, his eyes never leaving hers until he was buried deep inside of her. She was pinned, trembling beneath him. Kate brought her arms up to grip the sheets beneath her as he withdrew from her. A moan escaped her and to David it was the sweet sound of her begging for more. He drove back into her evenly, not too hard yet. The exquisite feeling of her wrapped tightly around him was more than he had hoped for and though he knew it wasn't going to be long, he wanted to make it last as long as possible for her. She whimpered softly, wanting more of him back inside of her. And he obeyed. He slid back in, loving the wet sound they made when their bodies came together. One hand stayed planted firmly on her hip while the other snaked around her body, searching for her clit. His fogged brain knew that he had to feel her cum around him before he came undone. His fingers slid across her wetness and he felt her hips buck when he found the right pinpoint spot. He kept soft pressure there in little circles as he began sliding in and out of her in an easy rhythm. As he picked up speed and strength, Kate threw her head back, moaning loudly, begging for more. The hand that had been planted on her hip slid up her back and wrapped gently around her neck. David moved his hand from her slender neck up through her hair, gently tugging as he fucked her. He felt her body begin to shake and he knew he was no match for her in this moment. He drove into her harder and faster, his fingers still working wetly on her throbbing clit. He felt her body tense as she slipped over the edge once again. He kept his hips moving for as long as he could before her pulsing and clenching drove him over with her. He drove in deep, holding himself inside of her as he exploded, moaning her name huskily in her ear. They stayed frozen, glued together for several moments as he emptied himself fully inside of her, her body trembling and jumping as she rode it out with him. She finally collapsed forward onto her stomach and he fell with her, landing with his weight to the side of her, still buried in her. She took a few deep breaths, trying to still her trembling body before turning to look at him. Both of their cheeks were pink and their lids were heavy. She smile softly at him and he returned her grin weakly. "I told you I was taking your home," he murmured. All she could do was nod as her smile grew. She wanted to say something, anything, but she held back. Even though she didn't want it to be, she knew that this was nothing. If anything it was a colossal mistake that couldn't be repeated. Regardless of how incredible it had been for them both. She rolled onto her side facing him and reached to pull the sheet over their cooling bodies, the light from outside all but gone now. "Get some rest," she said softly, "And if you're a really good boy I'll take you for coffee in the morning."
