As of tonight, or rather, this morning, she had been dumped for the third time in two years. Of course, that didn't count the many she had run away from or just ignored. She had to admit it: she was afraid of getting too attached. When they got too close, she pushed them away, never letting anyone in, never trusting. She mulled these things over bitterly as she shoved her key into the door to her apartment and let out a tired sigh as she headed for her bedroom. Her feet caught in mid-stride as she looked down on a handsome young man lying sprawled on her couch, fast asleep. A fond smile crossed her otherwise irritated face. "Oz, wake up sweetie," she murmured, leaning down to shake him while glancing at the clock. "Mummm..." he half moaned, twitching open deep golden-brown eyes. "Babe, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at work in," she glanced at the clock, which read 6:43, "like seventeen minutes?" She asked softy, petting down his ruffled black hair as he yawned. "Nope, day off. Came to see you and-" another yawn erupted, "-fell asleep." Here he paused and frowned at her. "Did you just get home?" Sammie smiled half heartedly, than slowly took off her jacket, delaying what was sure to come. "I went to see Jase," she said, not looking at Oz. "Ahhh..." He said, his face suddenly grim. "I know, I know! I don't want to hear it, okay?" She snapped off and looked at him, frustration in every line of her body. "It's not like it matters anymore." He sat up, never taking his eyes off her. "Why?" "’Cause he just dumped me,” she replied as she dropped down beside him. She sat for a moment before saying, “Ah, what the fuck do I care?" There was silence between the two of them, followed by, "You do realize he has been sleeping with Leana for at least a couple of months." It was not posed as a question: it was a statement. Sammie turned to face Oz slowly. "What?" He dropped his eyes. "I figured you would know." He said, shaking his head in something that looked like sadness. "I need to sleep so I can figure out what the hell I'm thinking!" She said with a laugh. "Okay. Well then, I'm going to go back to sleep." Oz said with a grin as she stood up. "You don't think you’re going to keep sleeping there, do you?" She asked with a raised eyebrow, eyeing her tiny couch. "Where else would I sleep?" He asked, plopping his head back down on the cushion. "I've slept on that couch before. It was very uncomfortable, and I'm a good five inches shorter than you!" She said firmly "I'll live." He said with a wry grin. "Don't be stupid Oz!" She said as she beckoned him to follow her into the bedroom. "I know you won't molest me during the night." She shot the grin back at him. "Are you sure about that?" He teased. "I haven't been laid for, what, two months now? I might not be able to restrain myself!" He said with a smirk, following her into the bedroom. "Why haven't you been getting laid?" Sammie asked from behind a changing screen. "Oh, Kay and I broke up." He stated matter-of-factly. "What? Why?" She questioned, emerging from behind the screen wearing shorts and a tee shirt. "She was a bitch anyway." He said dismissively, flopping onto the bed. "Yeah, but that never stopped you before." She murmured, lying down beside him. "Well, let’s just say I came to my senses." He said darkly, and Sammie didn't pursue it. After a long pause, Oz muttered, "’Night, Sam." She rolled over to face him "’Night." She whispered, letting her eyes close. All in a Week Ch. 02 Evening of Day 1 Sammie awoke to the familiar feeling of strong arms wrapped around her and a hard cock pressed into her tummy. She slowly opened her eyes to find herself entangled with Oz, who was fast asleep. Panic hit her, she loved this feeling too much to stay like this. It felt so right but she didn't want it, not with Oz! She moved away slightly and felt his arms tighten around her. How could she get away and avoid any embarrassment? She had no time to puzzle over this for at that precise moment, his gold eyes snapped open. For half a second, she froze, her mind thinking wildly, not knowing what else to do, her eyes flashed shut. She lay perfectly still, hoping he hadn't seen the movement. "Sammie, open your eyes." His voice murmured, his breath hot on her ear. A slight shiver ran through her but a buried stubbornness surfaced as her eyes remained closed. "Sam, I'm the one with the hard on, I should be the one refusing to open my eyes!" He said, his teeth grazing the curve of her neck. She snapped her eyes open. "What the bloody hell are you doing?" She asked, her eyes flashing. He grinned as she shoved herself away from him with such force that she nearly fell off the bed. "What's the big deal? Your overreacting." He said reaching out and tucking a stray lock of bronze hair behind her ear. "Quit." She muttered, brushing his hand away. He frowned, than suddenly, you could see it dawn on him. "Wow." He said, a surprised smile crawling across his face. "What?" She snapped. "There was something more there." He stated, watching her closely. "Don't be ridiculous!" She said, standing up and avoiding his gaze. He raised an eyebrow at her sarcastically as if to ask "Is that so?" She turned and wordlessly went into the bathroom where the distinctive sound of the lock gave a click. Sam stood leaning against the inside of the door, breathing hard. Oz? Lil' Ozzy? She thought confused. Could there be something more there? She bit her lip as she turned the shower on full blast. She slowly stripped off all her clothes, letting her mind run over the possibilities. She stepped in and let the fiery water beat down on her body. She let out a breath realizing that she was sexually and physically tense. "What is wrong with me?" She murmured brushing her jaw length, black hair out of her eyes. Is this just me trying to get a substitute boyfriend? she questioned herself leaning her head back , letting the water drench her hair and face. Oz stood in the kitchen waiting for his toast to pop up and Sam to come to him. She had never acted like this before and it was bothering him. They had always been very frank with each other. He sighed and sat on the counter. Why had she asked him to sleep in her bed with her, if something like this would bother her? He asked silently, frustrated. His toast popped up and he pulled himself out of his revere to hop off the counter and butter it. "Ozzy." Sam almost whispered from the doorway. He turned to look at her. "I'm sorry," she said softly, her eyes downcast "I just kinda freaked." "But why? It's just me." Oz said, taking a bite of his toast "Cause one moment you're just Oz, next thing I know, I'm thinking of you as the hot guy, who is in my bed with his arms around me and a good size hard-on." She said softly, a blush slowly climbing her cheeks. "OK." He said simply, as if that settled it completely "And what the hell were you doing to my neck?" She burst out. A grin broke across his face. "What can I say? I'm horny as hell and I felt like flirting!" He said almost challengingly. She laughed, releasing what was left of the tension in the air. * Oz stood up and stretched with a glance at the credits that still ran on the TV screen. "Well I'm going to have to head back out to the farm soon, want me to take any messages out for mum or pop?" He asked. Sam considered for a moment, than a half smile spread across her face. "They don't really need me at the shop this week... can I come with?" She asked softly. His mouth fell open. "Are you serious? Of course you can, they would love to see you!" A grin flashed across her face as she popped up off the couch. "Awesome! just let me pull some stuff together and call Abby to tell her I won't be coming in to work!" * An hour later Sam threw a duffel bag into Oz's back seat. "Ready!" She said flashing him a brilliant smile. "Grab your sleeping bag." He said, a smile playing across his lips. She threw him a questioning look but when he just smiled, she ran back inside. Oz let out the grin he had been suppressing. While Sam had been packing he had called his father and told him he would be taking the scenic route home and not to expect him until late morning. he had failed to mention that Sam would be with him. It would be nice to surprise them for once. Oz smiled as he saw Sam's lithe little body hurrying down the stairs, black hair flipping in the wind, green eyes sparkling with happiness. I haven't seen her like this since we were kids. Oz thought. Sam threw herself into the car. "Are you going to explain to me why I just climbed half way under my bed to get this?" She asked, throwing the sleeping bag into the backseat. "You'll see." He said, his whiskey eyes laughing as he started the car. All in a Week Ch. 03 Day 1, Late Night about 11 p.m. "Sam, wake up." Oz said softly, running his hand over the side of her face. "Meh?" She mumbled, stretching slightly, than opening her eyes with a frown. "Where are we?" She asked, brushing hair out of her face. He smiled. "A long way from home." He gently grabbed her, pulled her across the seat, and out the drivers door. "You have got to see this, I had to come out here for a claim a couple weeks ago, the moment I saw it, I knew I had to show it to you." He said guiding her to the edge of a ledge. She looked down and gasped. They seemed to be somewhere in the sand-hills, in every direction she looked, she couldn't see a road, and directly in front of her stood a 5 foot waterfall, but the amazing thing is what was growing around it. in the middle of all the sand and cactus, which seemed to go for miles, (and it is likely they did), there was an oasis, that was the only way to describe it. Three tall, and beautiful weeping willows draped over the pond under the waterfall. the ground for at least 15 feet in all directions was covered with what had to be thousands of flowers. "It's gorgeous." Sam breathed, her eyes wide. "I knew you would say that." Oz said, a smile in his voice as he looked over her shoulder at the beauty below. "You want to go get a closer look?" He murmured in her ear. Everything inside Sam screamed at his closeness, she forced herself to breath regularly. We're just friends! She told herself silently. "Yeah, but how?" She asked, stepping away from him slightly. "Around here." He said, walking over about ten feet. There was a winding and jagged path, built and hidden by nature in the side of the small cliff. They walked slowly down, talking of old times, of exploring the fields together, of talking under the stars before life got so damn complicated, of the first time they got drunk, of trying so hard to "tip" his dads cows, and of all the things that really mattered right along with those that didn't mean a thing. Early Morning, Day 2 About 5 a.m. Sam sat cross legged on top of her sleeping bag, staring down at Oz who was fast asleep sprawled across his sleeping bag. She smiled down at him, he looked so peaceful and... Damn it, hot! Why did he have to look so hot? She ripped her eyes away from him, trying to think of anything else. She settled her eyes on the sky, where the sun had not yet risen but the sky was beginning to glow, just on the horizon. It was beautiful, but somehow, the sleeping man beside her kept drawing her eyes. "Damn you!" She said louder than she had intended. "What?" Oz half moaned, not even opening his eyes. "Nothing." She murmured, embarrassed as his eyes slowly opened. There were a few perfect seconds in utter silence, where Sam felt as if she were falling, without a life jacket, into the deep pools of his eyes. She looked back into the sunrise, and the spell broke. "Were you talking to yourself?" He asked with a lazy smile as he stretched. "No, I was talking to you," She said, biting her lip as he raised his eyebrow questioningly "But you weren't suppose to hear it." He gave her an odd look but didn't pursue it. A huge yawn overtook him as she stared at the horizon, lost in thought. "It's too fucking early in the morning!" He muttered, a light frown on his face "How can you always be so awake?" He added in a half growl. "Oh, do you need your morning coffee?" She mocked him with a grin. "Yes, damn it!" He answered, but a smile was sneaking over his face. Something about his smile made her want to say "the hell with it!", grab him and have him right than and there. "You wanna head for a town and some breakfast?" He asked, pulling himself to his feet. Sam let out a laugh. "That's my Oz, food, sleep, and coffee, thats all you ever want!" She grinned at him. "Now wait a minute! You left out sex!" He said flashing her a devastating grin that matched his twinkling eyes. "Yeah, you can't forget that." She said, her voice dropping a notch and throwing her into sexy voice zone. She bit her lip, she hadn't meant it to come out like that. Oz glanced at her out of the side of his eye as he rolled up his sleeping bag. He watched the every sensual move her body made as she moved to do the same. God damn, why does she have to be so hot? He asked himself silently. About 9:30 a.m. Day 2 The ride back to the farm was uneventful other than Oz nearly falling asleep at the wheel and Sammie's takeover of the driving. They were only about 15 minutes from home and Oz was once again asleep or at least pretending to be. Sam glanced at him, a fond smile on her face. She reached across the seat and tousled his hair. "You messed up my do." He said quite clearly, never opening his eyes. Sam giggled. "Right," She said, the sarcasm so thick that it sounded as if it could drip as she continued to muss his hair. "You're nothing but a ragamuffin, you don't have a do!" He opened his eyes and gave her a mock glare, slapping her hand away, then solemnly pulling his short and choppy hair straight up on his head. "There!" his tone was triumphant as he looked at her. She glanced at his chocolate hair sticking out every direction and suppressed a laugh. "You know," She gave him a flirty glance. "Mussed hair is sexy." She gave him a little wink as she turned off the interstate and onto a gravel road. "I know, that's why I do it!" He said a cocky grin flashing across his face for just a moment. He loved this, they both knew it. He loved to flirt, tease and banter, but somehow today there was a little more "tingle" to it. Both of them understood on some level that it wasn't just jokes anymore. A pond, with three cows happily chewing their cud came into view, followed by a huge typically red barn where she caught sight of the rope swing still hanging. "Home, sweet home." She said as they rounded the bend and the house came into view. Sam stepped through the front door, directly on Oz's heels. "Hey boy, I need some help with the horses out in the left field, your stallion is causing trouble with that-" The deep gravely voice cut off here as Sam peeked around Oz. "Samantha?" The rather large, balding man said, surprise lighting his golden eyes. "Hey papa Jim!" Sam said grinning. "Long time no see hu?" "Girl, you haven't been around for nigh on a year!" the elderly man said snappily. "Dad, quit picking on her, she's been busy." Oz defended with a smile. "Yeah, doing what?" Papa Jim said, giving her a reproving look "Seeing another good for nothin' boy?" "Yeah, and you're right, he was good for nothing." She smiled surprised that she felt nothing for him anymore. "Good, you've realized the err' in your ways and now maybe you will look twice at our Ozmund here!" He said, flashing her a grin that looked to much like his sons. Sam cracked a grin at Oz' full name. "You never know, I might take you up on that." She murmured too quiet for Jim to hear but Oz eyed her curiously. "Rose!" Jim bellowed causing both the youngsters to jump. "I'm watchin' my show, it is the only time of the gall darn day that I'm not-" Here the slightly irritated voice emanating from the living room was cut off by Jim. "Well stay in there and watch it if you like, but Samantha's come to visit." He hollered with a half smile on his face. There was dead silence, than the quick sound of movement and soon enough a plump woman with silvery-brown hair appeared in the kitchen. "Sam!" She cried, her face lighting up. "Hey mama!" Sammie said, a fond smile covering her face as the elder woman pulled her into an embrace. Rose stepped away, looking critical. "Hunny, you look like you've been starving yourself, have you been eatin' at all?" Rose asked, already heading for the refrigerator. As if on cue, both the men headed for the door, Oz tossing her a wink and a mouthed "Good Luck!" "I'm sure I will be this next week!" Sammie laughed.
