All the characters in this story are above the age of consent. Enjoy IR2R ***** Brett Graves was exhausted. As a junior lawyer in his father's firm, he worked twice as hard as every other attorney. Often he was frustrated, especially when others seemed to love trying to show his father that he messed up. So to prevent this from happening, Bret was extra cautious. The problem wasn't really his father, but the other lawyers. Many saw that his father owned the firm and assumed he had a free ride. Earl Graves was a slave driver. In his firm, failure was not an option. After Daniel left a few years ago because of how the workers interacted, Earl tightened the reins on the people that worked for him. Bret started working for him a few years ago, and Brett often felt as if he was a disappointment for him. As the youngest son, he wanted more than anything to please his father. His oldest brother, Andrew, had his own detective agency. Daniel, his next oldest brother, had his own law firm. His brother, Peter, was a doctor, and even his younger sister, Emily had her own company. He felt like a failure. The year before, in an effort to exert his independence, he bought his first home a effectively moving out of his parents home. Now, at his mother's insistence, he stayed with them only when work required extensive attention. He was at home when Kim called and told him Isla had been attacked. Within the hour, he was at the hospital. His parents were not surprised to see him. His mother, Bria, told him Isla's brother was on his way and would be there soon. Brett sat in the waiting room. Peter had come out and explained that she was in surgery. She had several stab wounds and the surgeons were repairing the damage. Brett's heart raced. It seemed like days had past even though it had only been a few hours. Soon, Oman rushed into the waiting area with Snake and Emily. Isla was out of surgery and Peter was taking them to her room. "Look, she has been through a trauma. Don't ask a lot of questions. Right now we are trying to keep her calm." Peter explained. Andrew nodded. The family entered her room. Isla was alert, and Peter reminded her to stay calm. She had just come out of surgery, so try not to recall too much. The nurse came and called Peter for the other victim. Isla's friend had taken several serious blows and he was concerned she had a serious concussion. Peter told them he needed to check on the other victim and left the room. Everyone talked but Brett could not say anything. She was hurt. Isla was hurt. Some bastard abused and tried to force... Brett exhaled and stepped out of the room. Seeing her bandaged and bruised made him furious. Isla saw him walk out. She tried to act as if it didn't bother her, but it did. Andrew saw the look of disappointment in her eyes and smiled. He'd drag Brett's behind back inside. Isla smiled and continued to talk briefly with Earl and Bria. So, Brett left. I'm sure he has more important things to worry about. She surmised. We're just friends. She concluded. Emily was talking and Isla thought about Mia. Although the room was full of friends, she needed someone she trusted to check on Mia. She begged Emily to go. Brett came back in. Oman was with him and she could tell he blamed himself somehow. "Isla I should have come sooner. I had a vision." Oman gasped. Another doctor came in to check her. The doctor examined her and left to consult with Dr. Graves. Emily came back and Isla knew Mia had been short with her. Brett paced. Earl watched him carefully. Oman told her he'd be back and he went to talk with her friend. Oman came back looking confused and as frustrated as Emily. Snake did not like it when anyone to upset his wife so he went to see the friend. Brett just wanted to go. He wanted to take Isla home, to his home, and never let her go back to that apartment. Soon a dark-haired beauty walked in followed by Snake. She was just as hurt as Isla. The man that hurt these two women needed to be dealt with. Brett stood when Peter returned and told the girls they could leave, but only if someone would be responsible for their care. Mia rushed in. "Mia are you alright?" Isla exhaled. "I'm fine. You saved my life Mia. He hurt you. Are you..." Isla stopped. Mia froze and Isla stopped talking. Mia was a very proud person and Isla knew she hated being crowded. "I'm fine Isla. I just hate..." Mia answered, not wanting to reveal much. Brett forced himself to calm down. Everyone was quiet and waited. Soon the Graves headed home leaving Isla with her friend and brother. Since the girls were being released, Earl and Bria took them home with them. No arguments would be accepted. The older couple waited on the release papers for the girls. Earl reminded Brett he needed to report in early. He nodded and left heading to his parent's home. Andrew went to Peter's to pick up Cici and his sons. Oman left the hospital and took both girls to the police station. Earl had gone to take Bria home, but soon he rushed to the station, meeting Brett there. The small group left the hospital and reported to the station. Bria stayed with her husband. She felt that they could have waited. They arrived and the officers separated the girls. Brett went with Mia. It was the interview by that detective that angered Brett. He kept quiet, but made sure he reported the man. Then they went home. They arrived as Mia and Isla tried to find a reason to go back to that place. Unable to contain himself, he spoke out. She gasped. Here she was bandaged, and bruised. He wanted to find the monster that did this. He wanted to rip that guy into pieces. She looked confused and frightened. He never wanted to see that look in her eyes again. That was over two years ago, Brett sighed as he recalled finally winning the girl of his dream. Isla Storm was the perfect woman. He was on cloud nine when she agreed to get to know him. After several months, he convinced her to marry him, and they went to Vegas. They could have waited but he didn't want to. She was graduating, and he wanted to start their lives together. Isla Storm was everything he ever dreamed of. He was a junior lawyer in his dad's firm. Although, he felt like a failure, she never saw him as lacking. When he talked about his work, she listened. When he had to stay late, she would stop by and keep him company. He proposed the idea of a social worker on staff, and they decided to try it. She refused the job, citing that it would be too much like nepotism. "Mr. Graves, it's after five. I'm going home now, unless you need something else." A soft voice squeaked through the speakers on his desk. "I'm done. Go on, enjoy your weekend, Evelyn." Brett told his assistant. She left and Brett had two more depositions. Isla was home and he knew something was going on. Since they had visited her brother for the town celebration this past weekend, she seemed distracted. Well tonight, Mrs. Isla Graves was telling him what was going on. He finished up and around six he headed home. When he arrived, the house was dark. He wondered where she was. He unlocked the door and smiled. His wife was feeling frisky. Greeting his was a trail of the clothes she wore this morning. Knowing she hated for things to be out of place, Brett, picked up the pieces of clothing ending with her panties at their bedroom door. He shoved open the door and smiled as his gorgeous wife, sprawled on their bed with a simple rose between her teeth. She didn't have to say a word. Within minutes, Brett was naked and rushing to join his wife. "Wait, baby, I have something for you." Isla stopped her husband. Then she gave him a card. Brett placed it aside and moved to love his wife again. "No, no, open it." She insisted. He paused and opened the envelope. Brett was confused; it contained a father's day card. He frowned at Isla. It was September; Father's Day was in June. Isla crossed her arms and waited. Suddenly, realization dawned. "Wait, wait, Isla, does this mean... I'm going to be a dad?"Brett began to hyperventilate. "Sweetheart, breathe." Isla moved and held her husband. His skin was smooth and warm as she pressed her body against him. Brett turned and crushed his wife in a bear hug. "Oh, the baby, I don't want to hold you so tight. Are you OK? Have you seen a doctor? Who is Kimberly seeing? Cici? We have to tell Mom and Dad. Mom will flip." Brett babbled on and on. Isla was silent and then she whispered. "Are you happy?" Brett stopped and kissed his wife. "You have made me the happiest man alive. I love you, Isla." She leaped into his arms as tears of joy cascaded down her cheeks. Brett kissed his wife, his lover, his life. This woman completed him and accepted him flaws and all. She never found him lacking and for him that was a miracle within itself. He worked hard as did she. Their home was small, just three bedrooms, but perfect for them. His family rarely drove up to visit because often they would drive to see them. Mom was the only one to really come to their house and that was because she refused to not know if they were really OK. She and Dad had actually started looking for homes near them. They did not like the fact that their youngest chose to move out of town. Besides, Dad argued, moving close to them would eliminate them having to commute to work. "Isla, is this what you want? I know we said we'd wait at least five years." Brett asked his wife as he stroked her skin, holding her close to him. Isla smile, "Um Brett, I'm happy. I'm more than happy. Now, husband, I have other needs." Isla whispered. Brett laughed and ordered. "Don't move a muscle my beautiful wife. Tonight, I'm making sure every fantasy you have comes true." Isla lay back, beckoning her husband to come to her. Brett smiled, "No, my love, this is my turn to please you. Placing her hands above her head he ordered, "Don't move." Kissing every inch of her neck, Bret laved her skin with his tongue.. He loved her taste. Her body was slightly damp, and she grew hotter and hotter. He took a moment and caressed her breast. Even at two months pregnant, her nipples were sensitive and Isla moaned. Brett loved it and teased the taut peaks with his teeth. Sucking on her left nipple, Brett drove his wife insane. Unable to stop herself, Isla grabbed his hair and he stopped. Moving her hands back to the headboard, he reminded her that she was not to move. Isla groaned. "Brett nipped her stomach and heat flowed to her hotbox. She was ready. "Brett, please." She begged. Brett was driving her insane. She could not hold still. Her body shook and convulsed at this every touch. Spreading her legs, she begged him to assuage her heat. Brett laughed. It was hard, but he wanted her to come for him harder than she ever had before. He wanted to please her the way he did the first time they made love years ago. That evening would forever live in his memory. "Babe, remember our first time," he asked clutching her pussy. She was so wet, so hot. Her lips were swollen and quivered at his touch. "Baby!" she moaned, and he stroked her slit, kissing her once more to silence her. No longer caring, Isla held her husband close returning his kiss with unbridled passion. "I'll never forget it I'll never forget how hot you were. You came for me, only for me Isla. Come for me now, baby. Ride my fingers and give me your nectar. I promise, when we are done, you won't feel you legs." Brett whispered. He slid his digits inside her burning orifice. Stroking her forcibly, Brett drove her into a screaming climax. As her body convulsed, he spread her thighs mounting her and drove his rigid cock deep inside of her. Isla moaned as her husband, her lover rode her to ecstasy. Soon he could no longer hold back. He came, once again shoving his wife into a mind-numbing orgasm. Brett held his wife close, both panting, having exerted an enormous amount of energy. She was sated. The only person that knew besides Brett was Mia. Her sister was due in three months and she was overjoyed. Their children would be close, being that they would also be cousins. "So when he gets here, I have to lay down the rules. He will have to know I'm king of the castle and he's the prince." Brett went on an on planning his sons imminent arrival. Isla laughed, "If it's a girl?" she asked. Brett smiled, "She will be spoiled rotten." Isla laughed. "I love you, Brett Graves." Brett held his wife and his stomach rumbled. "Get up woman and get dressed. I have to feed you and our son. Then we need to call..." He paused as he looked once more at his wife who sat in the center of their bed not moving. "Oh no," she groaned. "Cici and Dina warned me. You're going to be one of those doting husbands." Brett laughed as he pulled on his slacks and passed her the clothes. "Hell yes." He chuckled. "You think it's bad now. When Mom finds out, she will demand we move back to the city near them. Or worse yet, she'll show up one day and refuse to leave." Isla laughed. She wouldn't mind. She loved his parents. They spoiled her rotten. She dressed and soon her husband was escorting her to dinner. They arrived at a local family eatery and Brett was all smiles. They ate and soon returned home. Isla could not help but laugh as Brett was so animated in coming up with rules for their little one. "Brett, the baby is the size of a peanut. Come on, you need to stop." She teased. Brett laughed. "Isla, you think I'm crazy. I can't wait until you grow bigger." The two talked and decided to share their news with the family at dinner on Sunday. Brett went to work and floated through his days. Nothing upset him. Earl noticed his more approachable manner as well. It was brought to his attention when he overheard some of the people talking. He came in early and left on time each day. His work was immaculate. Even when the more experienced lawyers tried to complain, Brett always made sure he followed protocol. He decided that Thursday he would join his son for lunch. He walked to Brett's office only to be told he took an early lunch with his wife. Isla had stopped by. Earl smiled and was a bit annoyed. It was unusual for Isla to stop by during the day and not try to see him. So Earl went to lunch and called Bria. Bria smiled; she was certain her youngest and his wife would make an announcement soon. She'd wait and fake shock, but in a few months they were welcoming a new family member. Brett sat with his wife at a local Italian eatery. He made sure she had something from each food group. Isla laughed, "Brett, I am not eating all of this. It'll make me fat." She complained. "You and Brett Jr. need to eat. Besides, he has to bulk up if he's playing football." He added with smirk. Isla sighed, "Brett, I will move in with Peter and Kim if you don't quit." She teased. Brett laughed. Peter would love that. Last year Brett gave him hell, and Isla staying with them would be poetic justice. Isla checked the time. She felt a sense of dread. She had to see one of her clients, but a strong sense of foreboding covered her. Maybe she should not go. Just then her phone rang, and she saw it was her coworker. Isla smiled at Brett and he felt a chill. Something was wrong. "Isla, call in. Don't report in." he whispered. "Brett, they need..." he interrupted. "I need you. Our son needs you. Oman told me to never ignore my senses. I have an eerie feeling and I don't want you going there today." Brett explained. "Brett..." Isla smiled in an attempt to soothe him. "Isla, humor me. Tell them you can't go there." Brett pleaded. "OK, but I will have to go this week." she explained. Isla called in and her supervisor was stern, but agreed to let her postpone. Isla took the rest of the day off. She decided to shop for her nephew. Mia was due in a few months. Isla didn't visit any of hers because they agreed to wait until Sunday and she'd spill the secret. After a few hours, she called in to check on the visit with the client. Isla almost dropped her phone. "Isla, Monica was killed. The ex boyfriend came by at the time you were scheduled to be there. I'm glad you did not go. He was coming for you. He blames you for taking his family from him. He opened fire, hitting her and the children. Isla, I'm not sure why you decided not to go, but God was watching out for you." She concluded. "The children are they..." She could not finish. "They are gone, Isla. Then he turned the gun on himself." Her boss exhaled. "Look, take some time tomorrow, but we will need you to come close their case. The police will want their records." Isla went home. She let herself inside, thinking of the beautiful children and their mother. They died needlessly. She was no help. She remembered when she arrived the first time several months earlier. Monica's mother begged her to go away. She worried Jerome would destroy her before he'd let her leave. Isla was concerned about the children. She monitored them closely. She even met Jerome and he terrified her, but she never showed fear. He was insane. She wanted to help Monica escape and she failed. Brett came home and found her crying. He was worried that something had happened when she told him about her clients. Brett held her as she cried. She told him the whole story. Brett held her and told her to take time. He called her supervisor at home. She was understanding and gave Isla the time she needed. That night, Isla slept fitfully. A few days later, she reported in and completed her files. What happened to Monica was wrong, and something needed to be done. Isla was silent. Her supervisor called her in. She offered her advice and told her what happened was not her fault. Women in Monica's situation were usually murdered by their partners. Isla faced her boss and thanked her. She took a few days off, and decided to go visit home. She needed serenity. At home, she could meditate. Grandfather was no longer here, but at home she could feel his presence. She called Brett, and he gladly drove her home. Oman and Mia welcomed her with opened arms. She called Kerri and the pack agreed to let her visit the den. Brett accompanied her. They stood at a cliff overlooking a vast plain. Isla was silent. Brett was stunned. The land was so beautiful, so free. "I know I am not to blame for Monica. There is something I never told you." Isla paused and took a deep breath. "When I was young, my father killed my mother. I don't recall a lot, and Oman remembers more than me. We came to live here with our grandfather. He raised us. I decided to become a social worker to help children that were in a situation like my brother and me. I failed Brett. That family died because I thought I could come in and fix things for them." Isla was so distant, lost in a horrific memory. Brett just listened. "I asked Mia, to take our baby if something happened to us. She asked me if I would take care of Kajika. I gave her my word. In seven months we will have our own child, and I would give my life to keep him or her safe. Grandfather told me that no one has the right to hurt me. He taught the same to my mother, yet my father beat her." Isla looked away. "Brett, I don't know what I need, but I want you to protect us. Protect our child. If something happens to me, please make sure she is safe." A Love Story: The Final Story Brett listened, and then he pulled her close. "Isla, you are my heart. No one will ever hurt you or our child. I'll die before that happens, OK." He whispered. He held her as she trembled. She sobbed softly, letting go of her demons. They sat on a blanket and soaked in the view. Isla dozed in his arms, and Brett let her sleep. As the day ended, he woke her gently and they returned to her brother's home. Brett loved visiting with Oman. When they visited, he got to relax and not feel as if he was competing with his brothers. Mia was due anytime now and Oman was on high alert. Isla made her brother promise to call as soon as her friend went into labor. Soon, they returned home where Bria insisted they join the family. They had not told the family about the baby. But as they visited Oman, Isla visited the local clinic and she and the baby were doing well. Bria was instantly concerned after learning about the incident. Brett and Isla arrived and the family sat for dinner. She told everyone about the visit, shared pictures of the babies, and even gave them regards from Chief Joe. Earl offered everyone drinks and Cici refused. She was due to give birth soon so she had to abstain. Isla refused also, and at first no one seemed to notice. Brett acted as if nothing was strange, when Bria gasped. "Brett, Isla?" Isla faced her mother and smiled. "Yes, in seven months we'll be welcoming..." Isla did not finish, Bria squealed. Everyone was ecstatic. Then Bria had questions. She felt Isla's job was too stressful and she need to rest. Earl agreed, besides, she could join the staff as a consultant at the firm. Isla was trying to refuse when Kim smiled and hugged her. "I'm so happy for you." Soon dinner ended, and Bria and Earl placed Andrew and Daniel on kitchen duty. Dina, Isla, Kim, and Cici, sat with Bria and the babies. The children loved the attention and Bria was so happy to have a new grand-baby being born. Everyone was laughing when Cici, grunted. Ever alert, Bria was ready. "Cici, sweetheart, are you alright?" she asked, checking the time. Cici smiled, "I'm fine. Aidan is just active." She explained. Ian and Kevin wanted to go home with Peter and Kim. Jose loved when his big cousins stayed over. Briana had just started sleeping most of the night, and Kim was not ready for a house full of boys, but before she could give an excuse, Cici moaned ever so softly again. "Oh no, hospital now!" Bria declared, "Andrew, it's time." The family moved and Cici was rushed to the hospital. Six hours later, Cici and Andrew welcomed a new addition to their family much to Cici's delight. Apparently, the technician misread the ultrasound because their son was born kicking and screaming and missing a key part of his anatomy. Cici finally had her little girl and Andrew knew he had to increase security tenfold. It was a good thing that he had boys, because he would train them like his dad trained him and his brothers. If his daughter was anything like her Mom, he had better start working out. The family stayed at the hospital for a while, but eventually they all headed home. Brett and Isla were so excited for their older brother and his wife. They could not wait for their son or daughter to arrive. Isla believed the baby was a girl. Brett claimed that he didn't care. He just wanted the baby to be healthy. Secretly, he wanted a boy. After everyone had gone, Cici was holding her daughter. For months they agreed the baby would be named Aidan. But she was not a boy. She needed a name for her beautiful little girl. Andrew was quiet as he watched his wife stare at this new life they created together. Then he stood and moved to sit beside them. He reached for the baby, and Cici placed her gently in her father's arms. The baby squirmed. Andrew lifted his daughter, "Shhhh, Cecelia, Daddy has got you." He cooed. Cici frowned, glaring at her husband who wore a shit-eating grin, "No, we are not..." Andrew smiled at his wife, " Yes we are. I let you pick Aidan, so I get to name our daughter. I think Cecelia is the perfect name for her." Cici opened her mouth to protest, when Andrew smiled and continued. "Cecelia Graves, you don't want to upset our daughter, do you?" he asked as the baby began to fret. Cici reached for her daughter. "Fine, we can name her after me, but we'll call her Celia." She declared. Andrew laughed, and kissed his wife once more. Soon, Cici and Andrew took baby Celia home and Isla was anxious. She often visited her sister, and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. As she knew Mia would give birth soon, so she was doubly anxious. One night, her phone rang with exciting news from her brother. She had a new nephew. At this point, Isla had take leave from work. With Brett calling every day, and Earl making reasons to stop by, her boss thought she needed to take time with her family. So the next morning all of the Graves family went home to meet the newest member of the clan. Kiana was there and Isla hugged her immediately. She was a bit hesitant, but once Kiana relaxed, the two women were inseparable. Everyone was excited by the news of Quentin and Kiana's wedding. Isla hugged the other woman who was fast learning to not be so wary of human contact. She stayed with her brother and his wife, holding her nephew. Kajika Storm was a beautiful little boy. He was a welcomed addition to their family. Soon, they had to return home, but not before Mia made Brett promise to call them. Brett smiled and kissed her brow. He kissed his new nephew and even hugged Oman. There was no way he would forget to call them. A few months past and Isla was well into her second trimester. At seven months she felt huge. Brett wanted to cheer her up, so he invited everyone to visit them at their home. He even arranged for Oman and Mia to arrive with Kajika. He was really looking forward to seeing the little scamp. Sunnet and Jacob were visiting and bring their son Hunter along. Isla had no idea. Lately, she was often at his parents' home and people rarely visited them. He knew their lack of visitors bothered her, and that was why he wanted to have this surprise shower for her. Chief Joe wanted to come, but he was not feeling to well, so Marcus would visit with him and they would call and talk on Skype. Brett called his brothers who surprisingly were more than willing to help. He was surprised at his brother, Peter. He took charge and made sure everything fell into place. Snake was in charge of distracting Isla. He did with Emily's help. If Emily suspected anything, she didn't say so. Isla was at Earl and Bria's Friday when Brett had to work late. He asked if they could stay there for the night. He was exhausted and did not want to drive home. The next morning, he went for a jog, but really he met with his brothers and they helped him set up for her party. Brett returned and he and Isla headed home. Before getting home, he wanted to show her something. They stopped at a car lot, where he showed her a small hatch back. He wanted to purchase a car that was safer for children. Isla didn't thing they needed a new car, besides her Maxima was big enough. After a few hours, Brett received a text. He smiled and drove his very pregnant, very cranky wife home. He played it cool. Not letting anything go. Soon they pulled into their yard, and Brett pretended that he could not find the key to the front door. Apologizing profusely, he led Isla out back. As they entered the yard, everyone greeted her and she was speechless. Even more so when Mia and Oman came out of the house with Sunnet, Jacob, Kerri, Ja'Mal and Chief Joe, who even though he was tired, made this trip to see her. Isla was so happy. Everyone went inside and had a nice time. Cici and Kim loved their home. Dina had visited and she complimented the house as well. Earl and Bria realized something. As much as they wanted Brett and Isla to move near them, this small home was perfect for them. Bria already realized this, but she still wanted them close to home. Isla gave everyone a quick tour as the men went into the backyard to watch the kids and start the grills. Snake considered himself King of the Grill, but this was Brett's home. So with two grills the two men had a cook off. The party lasted with the family showering them with every gift imaginable. Chief Joe gave them his blessings and told them to bring the baby home often. Brett shook the elder's hand and gave his word that this child would learn their heritage. They decided not to learn the sex of the baby. So, out of respect the family stopped asking. Cici and Kim needed to nurse their daughters, and Isla told then they could use the guest room. Cici went and got Celia from her Dad as Kim picked up Briana. The women had grown close and now were practically inseparable. Isla and Dina talked with the other guest and learned of everything going on at home. Kiana drove over with Oman and Mia. Isla was a good friend and she wanted to share in this joy with her. She had not conceived, not that she and Quentin were giving up. She had seen the healers and they saw no reason they could not have their own little one. Isla was so happy to see her brother and sister. Since she was so far long, her doctor had her on watch. Brett followed the doctor's instructions to the letter. He was determined that Isla and his child had the best care possible. The party went on and the kids grew cranky. The Dads took the kids to the park. The women stayed and helped Isla set up the nursery. The women were awed with the simple decor both Isla and Brett had chosen. Not knowing the gender of the baby, they chose to go with light neutral colors, a simple baby animal border. The crib was a deep red oak, which could be adjusted into a full sized bedroom. In the corner, furniture that needed assembling sat, and Emily knew that Snake and Oman would have them done before they left. She was impressed with their small home. She had never really visited Brett's home. Mom was the only person to actually drive up this far to visit them, but after today, she'd make it her business to check in often. Sharing a look with Cici, Emily smiled. She knew that the other women were thinking the same. They talked and bounced baby names, Isla shared with them the names she and Brett had chosen. They loved the names and cold not wait for the newest member of their family to arrive. The men returned, and the women insisted that they help Brett assemble the baby furniture. Earl filled in as a supervisor. The men went to work. Before everyone headed home, everyone had eaten, the nursery was set up, and the women had informed Isla that for the next two months she'd have frequent visitors. This news made Bria happy. Brett and Isla did not live too far away from the family, but it was over an hour long drive. She really wanted them to move back home at least until the baby was born, but the two wanted to remain independent. As much as she wanted to insist that it would be better if Isla was closer to them, Earl reminded her that they were adults and they needed to respect their decision. He was right, but there was nothing that said she could not visit them and stay in the guest room when it came close to the time for the baby to be born. Earl knew his wife and he knew she would be there for the birth of her new grandchild. Brett and Isla needed to prepare for a guest in the next month or so. Soon everyone left and Brett held Isla close. He caressed her blossoming tummy, and the baby kicked. "You're tired, rest." He whispered. "No, I'm not that tired." She turned and kissed her husband. "Babe, you've had a full day. We can wait." Brett replied. Her doctor did not restrict them from making love, but he feared hurting her or the baby, so he tried to refrain. "You don't want me." She whispered. Her voice was laced with pain."I'm fat." Brett kissed her then. "No one is more beautiful to me my love. You are everything to me. The one thing I've always wanted and never thought I'd have. Not only that, but you are giving me a beautiful child. I wake up hard and aching every morning. I go to bed hard every night. Don't want you? Isla, you're all I've ever wanted." Isla sighed and hugged her husband. "I love you, Brett. I love you so much." The two went to bed, where Brett spent the next hour loving her gently but thorough. Placing her on her side, Brett entered her from behind. She was so hot, so ready for him. Moving in and out of her hot sheath, Brett rode his wife into a mind-numbing orgasm. After, he held her and they slept. The next couple of months flew by. Kim, Cici, and Dina were visiting when Isla felt a sudden flutter of sadness. The women were concerned, but she dismissed it. Soon after, the phone rang. Oman called and told her that Chief Joe had passed. His ceremony was in two days, but she was not expected to attend. With her pregnancy so advance, he did not want to risk his niece or nephew. She shared the news and Dina took the news hard as well. Chief Joe was like a father to them. She knew Isla could not make the trip, but she would with her husband and her daughters. The moment was sad with all of the women shedding a tear in remembrance of the great leader of the Hualapai people. Kim called Earl and Bria and shared the news. They were devastated and called Oman. Arrangements were made and they were headed there later in the evening. Dina, Cici, and Emily were riding with them. Snake and Andrew would fly over the day of the ceremony. Brett knew Isla wanted to attend, but with the baby due anytime, it just was not safe for her travel. The day of Chief Joe's funeral dawned bright and sunny. Brett did not report in. He stayed home with Isla. Peter and Kim did not go with the others and they chose to drive over and visit with the two of them. Briana was adorable and Jose was a heartbreaker in the making. As the four visited, Oman called and he and Mia spoke with everyone on speaker. He knew Isla wanted to be there, so he told her they were videotaping the ceremony and would get the video to her. Isla smiled through her tears. Then Mia came in and said some words that made everyone laugh. They hung up, and the small group spent the day together. Isla was trying to be a good hostess, but in reality, she wanted to be alone. She had just lost a beloved family member, the baby kept treating her bladder like a soccer ball, and her back hurt. Even at times, Brett was getting on her nerves. She knew he was worried, but did he have to hover. All of a sudden, she needed to use the restroom. That was nothing new, she was always running. Only this time, it was different. Kim could tell something was off and she was about to suggest to Peter that they should leave and allow Brett and Isla time alone. She decided to let Isla know and walked to the door to tell her. She heard her sobbing. "Isla, are you OK?" she asked. "Kim, Kim, I'm hurting and I think my water broke." Isla cried. "Open the door." Kim called. "Can you move?" Isla stood and managed to get to the door. Kim took in the scene and knew the young woman was in labor. She called Peter. Peter, Brett, and Jose rushed in. Peter and Brett helped Isla across the room to their bed, as she panted. Taking Jose back out, Kim called for an ambulance. "No, I need to push." Isla groaned. Brett looked at Peter. He was about to panic. Peter looked at his sister and asked. "Isla, do you trust me?" she nodded. "Well, let's see if Peter the second is ready to arrive." He teased. He checked her and could see that the baby was crowning. "Brett, warm water, wash cloths and a soft blanket, go." Brett rushed to gather the items. He hated leaving her side but it seemed that his son or daughter would not wait. Kim told him she'd help and she tasked Jose with keeping an eye on Briana. As a big brother, he took looking after his younger sister seriously. So the two small ones sat in the front as the adults ran to help Auntie Isla. Brett stayed by her side, even climbing into the bed behind her as she labored with their child. Isla lay back against him, thanking God for such a wonderful husband. Kim talked with Isla and encouraged her as the newest member of the Graves clan entered the world. Peter laughed, as he delivered the healthy squirming baby boy. Isla and Brett shed tears of joy. Kim wrapped the baby and took a moment to wash him off. The ambulance could be heard as it made its approach. Kim placed the baby in his mother's arms and went outside to meet the medics. Peter rode with Isla and Brett drove to the hospital with Kim and the kids. His wife and son were fine. His brother was an amazing doctor. He never panicked. His admiration for Peter grew. Once they arrived at the hospital and Isla and Baby Graves were placed in their room. Brett called his parents. They did not answer so he figured they were at the ceremony. He'd call back. An hour later, he called and spoke with Oman. Oman was so happy for his sister and he and Mia would head over to visit as soon as things settled a bit. With Chief Joe passing a new chief had to be named. There were several elder men to choose from, and Oman wanted to make sure they chose wisely. Bria and Earl stayed with Sunnet a little longer. She had just lost her father and they did not want to leave her alone. So they would head home the next morning. This however did not stop Bria from calling and making sure that her son was taking care of Isla and the baby. The next morning, Earl and Bria rushed to the hospital to meet their new grandson. Emily rode back with them, but Dina stayed behind a bit longer. Brett was sitting with Isla as she held the baby in her arms. Bria and Earl entered. "Isla, he's perfect." Bria whispered stroking the thick thatch of black hair that covered his perfect head. The baby eyes seemed to pierce her soul, so dark and alluring. Bria held her grandson, kissing his brow while Earl checked on Isla. The baby squirmed and Bria began to talk to the baby. "Shhhh, Grandma's got you." "Kane, his name is Kane Joseph. We named him in honor of Chief Joe." Brett whispered. Bria smiled, "Don't worry Kane. Grandma has you." Earl laughed and said, "Let me have a look at this boy," Bria placed the baby in his grandfather's arms. Peter and Kim came in. They stayed over and were headed back home soon. Isla thanked them for simply being there. She hugged Kim a bit longer. Peter watched and smiled then he had to ask, "Um, so what did you decide to name him? Peter, right?" he teased. Isla laughed and answered, "No, although I'm glad your were there, His name is Kane." Kim laughed. "I love that name. That was the name of my first real crush." She teased. Peter laughed and said "Oh well, that's OK. Kim and I will name our next one Peter, right babe?" Kim shoved him and answered, "Who said there would be a next one?" Everyone laughed. A Love Story: The Final Story Who are you?Ja'Mal demanded. The wolf shook he head, attempting to shake the alphas command. Quentin locked his strong jaw around his neck. Before we kill you; answer me. Who are you? He demanded once more. The wolf sneered. Nephew, you don't recognize your family? You thought Ryelle was your only uncle. Well, he's the only one Alpha Alphonso claims. He's not his only son. Ja'Mal growled. He had no idea what his grandfather was up to, but it was time to deal with him directly. The two wolves ordered the interloper to follow them, and the people at the celebration were now worried. For years, no one knew about the wolves and now they had to trust these humans. Oman feared that maybe this was too much. The Graves family might cut all ties with them after this. However, his sister was with them and he was not willing to be out of her life. Once they reached the local jail, the police chief let them in and they secured the interloper. The police chief told them they'd watch him. Ja'Mal and Quentin faced each other when he received a message from Marcus. They borrowed some sweats from the police and quickly returned to the picnic. All of the Graves were seated and the Alpha was informed. Sunnet moved to them to explain. But they were in shock. Pastor Henry opened his church and they went inside. Quentin and Ja'Mal dressed and went to address their friends. They listened. They had questions and the wolves answered. However, they told them that no one could know about them. Bria, Earl and their family understood. Earl stood. "You are family. One thing I know is that family protects each other." The rest of the family seemed to agree. Ja'Mal and Quentin were relieved. Andrew and Snake pulled Quentin to the side. They were good friends and the two could not believe he kept such a big secret from them. The men talked, and Quentin knew that as far as these two were concerned, they were brothers for life. The kids were playing as if nothing had changed. The fact that their friends were part wolf never fazed them. They thought the wolves were cool and wanted to turn into one. Sunnet and Dina talked and explained that they were human and the children from the den were part wolf. The children from the den could change into their animal form, but as a human they did not have one, so they could not change. The kids asked even more questions and Sunnet and Dina explained. Kerri joined them and made sure they knew they had no reason to ever fear them. They were unhappy at first, but soon realized that they had friends that were really special. Soon, it was time for the annual basketball game. Logan was ready, and he had someone new on his team, Quentin. The executive team was the same, and Byron was ready. They went to warm-up and Bria insisted that Kiana and the other expectant mothers sit. They grumbled, but did as they were told. The group ate and then it was time for the game. They watched and cheered, and as usual the company team was victorious. The celebration came to an end and the women cleaned. The men threw out trash. Everyone went home. Ja'Mal and Marcus went back to the police station where there uninvited guest awaited. Soon, day gave away to dusk and Oman, Mia, Brett, and Isla were home. The women fawned over their young as the guys teased them about spoiling both boys. Soon, Oman felt restless. He needed to go out. Isla stood and joined her brother. Over thirty years ago, they came here two small children, afraid, unsure, and orphaned. Grandfather hugged then and told them they were home. He and the tribe welcomed them. They took a stroll across the yard. The sky was clear. The stars sparkled like diamonds. They faced the heavens and remembered their grandfather. All of a sudden moisture fell on their faces. They laughed. Grandfather was with them. He would never leave them alone. The siblings hugged each other as their spouses watched from inside of Oman's small home. Soon they sighed and went to seek out their other halves. Oman held Mia close. Isla kissed her husband and pledged her love for him once more. Dina too wanted to be outside. She'd never forget leaving her home years before. When she left, she had no reason to ever return. But time and distance a can heal a multitude of wounds. She and her sister had reconnected with their tribe. With Chief Joe's guidance, she finally felt as if this place was home. Dina looked up. She wondered if Lionel ever found peace. She hoped he did. Daniel joined her. Often his wife would become introspective. She would contemplate and they would talk. He knew now was one of those times. He sat beside her. "Are you OK?" He asked. "I'm fine. I was just remembering." Dina whispered. "Daniel, I love you. Thank you for taking a chance us," she whispered. Daniel held his wife close, and reminded her of his devotion. The shaman of old watched the members of their tribe and smiled. The Hualapai people were strong and would one day be restored. Chief Joe sat amongst them with Keamon and the two men agreed. With young strong leaders, like Oman, Mia, and the new Chief, the tribe could not help but thrive. The End ***** So ends the tale. This is the final story in the A Love Story Series.
