Pygia In previous posts, I have focused my thoughts on sodomy on the "active," or penetrative, participant, rather than on the "passive," or penetrated, participant, since it takes two to tango, it seems only appropriate to consider the latter as well as the former, and this post, hopefully, will rectify this omission. When I write about sex, I watch it, when possible, on video, or look at it, at least, in still photographs. Fortunately, the Internet is a treasure trove of such images. I like to watch sodomy (both its hetero- and its homosexual varieties) for the same reason that I enjoy thinking about it. Although I have never engaged in it, in either the penetrating or the penetrated role, I have, in my imagination, both fucked and been fucked anally many, many times. (I invite those who may doubt whether one can write intelligently and insightfully about a matter in which he has not himself experienced to consider the fact that Stephen Crane, who was never in any branch of the military, is regarded to have written an extremely realistic masterpiece in his novel of the American Civil War, The Red Badge of Courage.) I consider sodomy (that is, as I am employing the term, anal intercourse, although "sodomy" can also refer to oral sex or even to bestiality) from a variety of perspectives, focusing upon the participants' expressions, vocal ejaculations, body positions, and anatomical parts. Such considerations quite frequently prompt insights into the emotional and social ramifications of being rammed in the rectum (and of ramming another's rectum). Seeing a feminine (or a masculine) pair of buttocks from the rear, impaled by an erect penis, is always erotic for me, suggesting dominance and submission, power and subjection, "passivity" and action. Sodomy implies a preference for pleasure and desire over procreation and need. After all, the genitals are ignored, or rejected, in favor of intercourse per anum, and a spending of seed in infertile ground, as it were: the vagina is unoccupied or the penis and testicles are left to dangle uselessly. Moreover, there are no eggs inside the rectum to fertilize and no infrastructure, so to speak, of endometrial tissue in which a fertilized ovum, or zygote, can be nourished. Although one may not be consciously aware of the willful bypassing of the procreative function, thinking of anal intercourse merely as an alternative way to have "fun," during sodomy, a vacant pussy or a dangling cock and a pair of swinging balls nevertheless suggest this reality, and the suggestion may be understood on an unconscious, if not a conscious, level. The emphasis upon pleasure rather than procreation suggests that the impaled participant, whether male or female, exists (for the duration of the act of anal intercourse, at least) expressly for his or her lover's pleasure, that he or she is a vehicle for the other's bliss, rather than as an equal who is, in his or her own right, potentially useful as a producer (or as a reproducer) who can engender life. With the cunt or cock and balls ignored in favor of filling the anus, the penetrated participant is, essentially, nothing more than a ring of muscle and a tube of intestine located between two buttocks. Part of the intrigue of sodomy is, of course, the "forbidden" nature of the act, which, since I have discussed this aspect of the practice in previous posts, I will not reiterate here. Instead, let me address another captivating feature that is characteristic of sodomy: the seeming impossibility of a tiny, tight anus to accommodate a thick, rigid prick that may be as large as the wrist of the woman (or the man) whose buttocks it impales. Such a tight fit is a visual metaphor for dominance, power, and virility, if ever there was one! Conversely, it is, at the same time, a symbolic expression of the impaled participant's own power, or ability, to take what is being dished out, of his or her anus' capacity to adapt to its impalement by a monster-size cock, which implies that the "passive" participant is, indeed, secretly much more powerful than he or she might appear. Strength, such an image of unlikely impalement, suggests, is an inner, not merely an outer, quality. The taboo character of sodomy is enhanced further by the fact that an anus and a rectum, regardless of its owner sex and gender, can be employed for the purpose of anal intercourse, bringing true equality to the sexes, in this sphere of human enterprise, at least, allowing the man as well as the woman to be penetrated and, indeed, should a woman avail herself of the use of a strap-on dildo, permitting women, likewise, to play the role of the penetrating party, whether the object of her desire is equipped by nature or nature's God (if one is of a religious bent) as a male or a female. The rim of the anus is seen, sometimes, to rise, as the penis withdraws from, and to indent, as the organ advances into, the skewered asshole, suggesting that the asshole, far from being adverse or resistant to its impalement, so to speak, is actually delighted enough, as it were, to hug the cock that lunges and plunges inside it and to ride the virile member even as the penis repeatedly expresses, by way of its thrusts, its owner's continuous and mounting passion. In some videos, the penetrating participant extracts his penis from the buttocks of the man or woman whom he is fucking, and the penetrated participant's asshole collapses back to its original dimensions. It is fun to watch the cored anus contract upon itself as it reassumes its customary status as an orifice that is meant by nature, and possibly by God, to be a means of egress, rather than a means of ingress. The effect is heightened if the erection has ejaculated and its semen, creamy and white, trails from the glans, over the anus and buttocks, or flows over the perineum and alongside the otherwise-neglected labia or scrotum, or the member ejaculates over these areas, thereby symbolically branding the buttocks, as it were, and betokening the penetrating participant's possession of the penetrated party, and, when a gob of ejaculate runs into the crater of the cored anus and down the walls of the rectum visible within, a viewer must reckon his or her observation of the mechanics of sodomy to be complete. An asshole isn't the prettiest part of one's body, even when it's small and closed. One that has been enlarged from having been fucked a multitude of times--not one that gapes as a direct result of but a single instance of anal intercourse, but one that is loose and, therefore, always larger than it was in the days of its long-vanished virginity--is more unsightly yet. Nevertheless, such an anus signifies the vast experience in taking a cock up the ass that its owner has had and, for this reason, if no other, it's sexy to behold, despite its unattractive physical appearance. When the penetrated participant keeps his or her legs close together while he or she is being fucked, the viewer can see that the fucker's sensations are apt to be more intense because of the tighter seal of the buttocks and the anus about his organ, and the effect of such an image or video sequence is, therefore, all the more erotic. Likewise, because the penetrated party needs to do little more than submit to his or her anus' penetration, when he or she assists his or her partner in any way, no matter how slightly or briefly, the gesture is charged with erotic significance. , , Complimenting the fucker, guiding the penis' entry, manually spreading the ass cheeks to better accommodate entry or thrusting, counterthrusting the buttocks--all of these cooperative actions heighten the viewer's pleasure, because they signify the penetrated party's willingness to participate as a catamite. Rapid thrusts of an erect penis into an asshole also excites, because such action reinforces the fucker's dominance of the fucked person, as it does the latter's status as an object whose purpose is to but serve as a vessel of the penetrating party's needs. However, even when the penetrated participant lies still and the penetrating person merely enters him or her to the balls, without thrusting, the scene is erotically charged, because the passivity of the penetrated party also illustrates his or her acquiescence to the act. (He or she is not putting up any resistance, after all.) The facial expressions, particularly those of the penetrated participant, should not be overlooked, for they often enhance the lewdness of sodomy. Sometimes, such expressions are sultry and knowing; they can also be anguished or resigned. The penetrated party may look orgasmic, with his or her brow knitted, his or her eyes closed or half-closed, and his or her mouth open or set with grim determination to make it through the act to its explosive conclusion. It is rare that a buff-fucked individual smiles throughout a session of sodomy; most who do smile, do so only at the beginning of a session; before long, the smile becomes a frown, and signs of enjoyment are transformed to expressions of distress. Occasionally, a penetrated man or woman will even bite the bedding, as if to alleviate emotional or physical discomfort. A few penetrated persons appear to plead, silently, for mercy from the penetrating party. In a few cases, a penetrated party may express anger, although, more often, he or she is apt to maintain an impassive face and a calm demeanor. Judging by the facial expressions of the penetrated, then, in general, discernment, anguish, resignation, excitement, determination, joy, distress, discomfort, abjection, anger, and studied indifference appear to be the emotional and attitudinal states attendant to anal penetration. There is something else about enjoying the observation of anal intercourse, or sodomy, that cannot be communicated in words, but must be experienced to be known and understood. If you have read the trilogy of my essays concerning sodomy ("Thoughts on Sodomy," "Further Thoughts on Sodomy," and "Still More Thoughts on Sodomy"), and you are still not entirely sure as to why this particular act is as fascinating and erotic as I have indicated, there's only one thing you can do: watch it--or, better yet, try it--yourself. Then, whether you are male, female, or shemale, and whether you are on the giving or the receiving end, you will know and, hopefully, appreciate what it means to be fucked in the ass or to fuck someone else in his or her ass. You will understand, at last, that every other form of sex pales in comparison to sodomy.
