Pygia By covering the human body, by concealing its contours and features, by clothing its form, we make fantastic and mysterious what would be otherwise familiar and mundane. A man or a woman, unclothed, is a god or a goddess, an elemental and primeval creature that harkens back to the innocence of the Garden of Evil, but such a figure is also animalistic and sexual, displaying, in lieu of blouses, breasts; instead of trousers, penises or vaginas and buttocks. We know that we are naked beneath our clothes, but our dress allows us to pretend otherwise, to be surprised, even delighted, at undress. To be nude is to be open, to show one's charms, in all their naked glory. Not only face and hands, legs and feet, but breasts, pubes, vagina, penis, testicles, and buttocks are also displayed, for any and all to see. We can focus our eyes wherever we please, upon nipples, navels, pubic hair, labia, scrotum, or, perhaps, even an anus, now and again. We can admire the sweep and curve, the arch and bow of flesh and the openness of legs normally kept closed. (It helps, immensely, when, naked, we smile.) A nude is more than his or her own flesh, more than his or her posturing and pose; a man or a woman, naked, is part of his or her environment, and his or her beauty is informed and enhanced by his or her surroundings. Examples? Against windows before which a gauzy curtain has been drawn, a woman's delightful nudity is highlighted, and she becomes more than mere naked flesh: she is deified. She looks down, to her left, seemingly holding her breath, expectant of something ineffable. Her arms are at her sides, her legs together, thigh against thigh, the slight dimple of her sex a cleft within the smoothness of her hairless crotch. A strand of pearls falls diagonally across her chest from her right shoulder; parted in its descent by the nipple of her left breast, the string falls behind her hip. One wonders: why stands she here, thus, naked but for a strand of pearls? She is Mystery in the Flesh. Behind her, shelves, a table and chairs, a marble floor all aswirl, and a yellow cloth that might as well be vinyl as silk, bright as butter and full of draping folds. She commands center stage, naked but for the bright red collar, worn like a bow, and matching gloves and knee-high sox whose lower halves are thick as boots and whose upper halves are nets, the better to catch a lover with. Her body is milk-white and smooth, her hair, worn in a long ponytail, dark chestnut-brown. She is young, but old enough to know the excitement that her nakedness doubtlessly arouses as she stands, buttocks resting against the tabletop, her arms to her sides, balancing her, her legs crossed at the knees. She invites us with her open gaze, advertising herself as a present, tied with a bow the color of which matches the coverings of her hands and legs. The yellow cloth is a halo, contrasting with the deep-red carnality she wears, in bow, in gloves, and in stockings—and in her white and naked flesh. We may invent our own stories to account for the shelves, the table, the chairs, the cloth—narratives matter not a whit, for she is the plot and the theme, the conflict and the climax, all in one. Breasts are different every time we see them, not only in themselves, but in their exhibition: in profile, they appear different than they do seen head-on; to see them from above is an experience not merely opposite, but entirely different, than seeing them from below; suspended, they are yet again not merely renewed, but new. Even when they are so small as to be little more than nipples, breasts are born again. They never grow tiresome, because, each time they are seen, they are original and newborn. (The same is true, of course, of women's buttocks.) A woman's body is not only curves, but angles; in fact, the female form is more angular than the male's: with bent elbow, a woman indicates her breast; a bent knee points out the triangle between her legs; a hand lies along a thigh, emphasizing the leg's display; a horizontal forearm contrasts with a vertical pair of buttocks or breasts; hands on hips call attention to the thrust of hips; crossed legs draw the gaze to notched pubes; hands spread at either side of her sex center the eye upon her labia. Women's angular frames, conspiring with slopes and curves, reclaim the wandering eye a thousand thousand times, renewing and reigniting both admiration and desire. In vain attempts to capture the secrets of woman's loveliness, male (and, sometimes, female) poets compare them to flowers or fawns, finding gold in their tresses and apples or roses in their cheeks; their breasts become hills, their vaginas valleys, their buttocks the shape of the butterfly. Women are blossoms, baby animals, landscapes—and beautiful mysteries unfathomable and unnameable, even in verse and rhyme. A woman takes us with her breasts, or, should we approach from behind, with her buttocks; her loveliness catches us, whether we are coming or going. Women bewitch us with their beauty, charm us with the spell of their glamor, and we are theirs. A woman's strength is in her looks. A woman is superior to a man. Women dominate men, but they do so with such subtlety, grace, and sophistication as to make mere men think that it is they, the captive, who have captured and they, the ruled, who rule! It is impossible for a man to look upon a naked woman without becoming erect, and his erection testifies to the power of woman's beauty, for it proclaims her might. To become erect is to be overcome. A woman is lovely even as a torso, headless or otherwise: her breasts, her sex and her buttocks are all that are truly necessary to men, although a face is fine, too, for fellatio, as are hands for masturbation and massage. A pair of buttocks, firm and tight, above a pair of stockings dark and ornate: here is the formula for a love spell powerful enough to drain a man of his vital element. Even in a library, a librarian is naked beneath her clothes. Outdoors, a woman's nudity is magnified. Breasts of any size, or none at all, adorn a woman; there is no "right" or "wrong" regarding such décor. In a field full of wildflowers, she, romping naked, is as free, and as carefree, as the wind; indeed, she is the wind. The wind is in her hair, and her hair is in the wind, and her hair is the wind, as the wind is her hair. All verse begins and ends with a woman's naked flesh. She wears but the rope of her captivity, a belt about her waist, and is naked, otherwise, just the way she wants him to want her. In offering mouth, hand, breast, vagina, and buttocks, a woman claims a man. Legs extended outward, thighs in opposite directions; knees bent; calves facing one another; toe against toe: the shape she shapes is the shape of she herself, considered as a cunt. Blonde hair, milk-white naked flesh, stockings pale and pink produce, collectively, an erection and the need for relief. There is no relief but release. Untying a bikini, top or bottom, signifies release, and freedom is release; consequently, tying the same article suggests both bondage and captivity. Women bind themselves that they might unbind themselves, tie themselves inside false skins that they might slough off their pretense at modesty. Breasts, with nipples instead of eyes, would be absurd, were they not gorgeous. A stare is an invitation. A smile is an invitation. An erect nipple is an invitation. A bare breast is an invitation. A vagina, especially wet, is an invitation. A pair of buttocks are twin invitations. However, a man should always knock before he enters. A stare is the offer of a contract. A smile is the offer of a contract. An erect nipple is the offer of a contract. A bare breast is the offer of a contract. A vagina, especially wet, is the offer of a contract. A pair of buttocks are both offers of a contract. However, a man should always read the fine print before he signs the dotted line. To think pink is to think hard. There are two breasts for the same reason that there are two buttocks: a man has two hands. What is disrobing? Display? Drama? A gift? An invitation? Release? Empowerment? Self-expression? Consent? Revelation? (The latter, I think, it is always, whatever else it may intend.) Men may stand at attention, but women command attention. Women, be careful: men are loaded; men are explosive; men are apt to go off, even half-cocked. Sexually, they are as dangerous as nitroglycerine, and even a little bump and grind are apt to make them go off. Women drool semen. A woman's arms, folded behind her head, make a pillow fit for intercourse. When a woman interviews a man, she does so with her eyes, her breasts, her legs, and her buttocks as much as she does with her mouth and her brain. Men do not look into a woman's eyes when her breasts are bare. A woman's hair is her crowning glory, but it may also be a frame for the beauty of her face. In the sunlight, women do not need jewelry. A thong has an open secret: its wearer is an empress who has no clothes. A thong's biggest contribution is its color, whether it is hot-pink, banana yellow, jet black, blood-red, deep purple, or as many hued as the rainbow that lesbians sometimes wear. When she bends forward at the waist, her forearms upon the boardwalk rail, the sea rolling in upon the shore endlessly, every man wants to mount her, to bathe in her salty ocean, to penetrate the eternal mystery of her liquid womanhood. Thongs celebrate the naked glory of the feminine derriere. A vagina, overflowing, is a cataract of sperm. A strap-on dildo, whether red or purple, pink or green, blue or gray, silver or gold, and whether worn upon the groin or chin, is as handsome, in its own way, as any phallic ejaculation of manhood ever wrought, by nature or by man. Breasts and boobs are not the same—or are the same as nakedness and nudity. Observations never stop, for every image of woman—and of man—produce insights, epiphanies, revelations both puerile and profound. Therefore, future posts, concerning the beauties both of women and of men—and of those delightful creatures that are both and neither sex, exclusively, transsexuals—shall no doubt be shared with those who care to meditate upon the deeper implications of sex and gender, nakedness and nudity, and the holiness of erotica and the erotic mind. Observations of a Picky Reader Hello! I have been a Literotica reader since 2007. I have been overall impressed by the quality of writing on the site and I appreciate the work everyone does in creating their stories and admire the courage it takes to post a story. I commend all those who have used Lit to develop as a writer. That said, often I am a picky reader and have noticed things I don't always have the opportunity to critique or comment on. This has led to creating a list of tips based on my experiences as a reader for writing stories, getting a story read, and maintaining long term readers. I hope it helps someone! Tips on writing a story 1. Its pretty obvious, but there is nothing more important than thorough proofreading and/or finding someone else who will read through your story before publishing. Mistakes happen, but if you have too many it becomes unreadable for many. 2. If your story is location specific, know the location you are writing about. If you can't visit the area yourself then take the time to read up on your location, check out blogs written by people who live in the area, and Google location pictures to get a better sense of what makes the location unique. If you can, find someone on Lit who is from the location to read through your story to make sure the location rings true. 3. Be mindful when using dialect in your story. Too much dialect or too poorly done can make the story unreadable, but when it is well done it can transport the reader. 4. I think writing Science Fiction and Fantasy short stories is very challenging and I respect all those who write in this category. You have to build an entire world and society within a few short pages. Take the time to fully think through the world you want to create. The best in the professional writing field, Tolkien, Lucas, Rowling, are the best because they themselves know every detail of the worlds they create to the point where they can be consistent throughout their stories. 5. The number of named characters should be proportional to the length of the story. If you are writing a multi-part story consider providing a list of characters at the top of each new chapter. 6. Be consistent within your story. Nothing is more disorientating than when a major detail, such as someone's name, changes within a story. This is something proofreading can fix, and is more important than grammar or spelling. Tips on getting your story read 1. Under no circumstances allow a story's title and description to have any spelling or grammatical errors. Nearly 100 percent of the time I will bypass any stories with such errors. If an author can't proofread this section, the quality of the story itself is automatically in doubt. 2. Think before you use a pun. I think coming up with a title is often the most challenging part of writing. If you have a clever and rarely used pun that fits your story go for it. On the other hand, avoid using puns as a lazy titling device. Puns that include variations of cum particularly fit this category. 3. Pick an accurate category for your story. It seems obvious, but occasionally you will find a story that should have been in another category. Almost everyone is particular about what they want read. Additionally, if your story could fit two categories such as a Fetish Romance, put it in the category that best describes it, but include the other category in your description. 4. If you write a Text With Audio story consider providing the text or also publishing it under another category without the text. It may pull in more readers for you if there is a non-audio version. 5. For any categories that may be offensive for some readers, such as Incest, Nonconsensual/Reluctance, or BDSM, if your story is a milder form of the genre (i.e. sex with step-family or, role play reluctance, light bondage or spanking) consider putting that in your description to pull in more readers. 6. Consider who you want your audience to be. Do you want it to be predominantly one gender or one sexual orientation? This will have a significant impact on who actually reads your stories. Sexual fantasies are often very specific to the groups you want to write for. For example, fantasies for women or men are different than women and men. 7. Don't give away surprise endings in the description. Tips on getting long term readers 1. Write! Probably the worst thing as a reader is when you are reading a multi-part story and the author quits writing. That said, we know writers have lives and that the writing process takes awhile. This is not in reference to authors who just need time to write and often, bless them, take the time to update us. 2. Unless it is part of a personal writing exercise (in which case more power to you), be careful of not writing the same characters in all of your stories. Different names will not hide the fact that the characters have the same quirks, insecurities, or idealistic qualities. Even best selling authors have this problem. Observations on Nipples and Breasts {{Author's Note: If you are going to score or rate this essay (which I sincerely encourage), please do so on the merits of the writing, NOT on whether or not you agree with the opinions.}} * * * * * There is a Nipples thread on the Literotica forum under Story Feedback started by the incomparable JenniferMidnight. The opening premise was "Nipples: Likes and Dislikes." Included at no extra charge is a poll on preferred nipple color. Considering nearly 9,500 forum postings and over 2,800 votes on the poll, there is clear consensus on only two conclusions: 1.Nipples are good. 2.Breasts are good. I know, I know, it doesn't take in-depth research or a whole lot of analysis to come to those conclusions, but who can blame a person for the passionate pursuit of subject samples, social discourse and comparative analysis of and about nipples and breasts? However, in my exhaustive, painstaking research, I have noticed some rough generalities that you may find interesting and/or illuminating. Of course, I do not propose to "know" any of this, nor do I defend these as being accurate. These are merely personal observations and broad generalizations to which there are many exceptions and alternate opinions. First and foremost, there are the characteristics of nipples and breasts themselves. These include size, shape and (mostly in the case of nipples) color. It appears to me that, as expected, overall size of a breast is a factor. There is definitely a sizeable and candid "bigger is better" contingent out there. What I have found interesting is that there is an equally represented "smaller, firmer" faction. What I have also found interesting is who (in general) tends to be in which group. Younger, testosterone-driven males tend to express more preferences for the bigger breasts. Although there does tend to be an upper limit for most (roughly larger than a volleyball), they do not appear to differentiate further - natural or implants, nipple length or circumference, even color of nipples and breasts don't appear to factor in much. This is the "Great Rack!" crowd that loves the restaurant "Hooters" and keeps Playboy Magazine in business. Don't misinterpret - I do not criticize or belittle this group. I have merely noted certain other common interests members of this group tend to have (in general). Women with large breasts tend to have one of two general viewpoints. One viewpoint is the "eye contact" group. These women are frustrated at the attention their breasts draw - guys don't make eye contact but just stare openly at their chest. They tend to have almost a combination of shame and anger at their situation. These women pretty much stay away from a breast or nipple-associated forum - they don't like theirs so they certainly don't want to see or talk about others. I know one large-chested woman in her 50s who has spent so much of her life trying to de-emphasize her breasts, she almost always walks with her arms folded across her chest and never wears anything that would reveal even a hint of cleavage. The other viewpoint of women with large breasts is what I call the "Oh, yeah!" group. These women love the fact that they have large breasts. They like the attention they get because of them and will do things to emphasize them. They are also not above using their...assets to their advantage - everything from getting out of speeding tickets, to making a sale or getting a promotion can be accomplished, at least in part, by using their breasts against men susceptible to their power and influence. I have not had much intimate relations with large-chested women, but I have had some candid discussions with some. What I found most interesting about the sexual side of large breasts is that it is not necessarily a male power/control "thing" when a guy "titty-fucks" a woman. That was always my assumption, but more than one woman has informed me that they like it also. They can get a sense of power and control over the man by doing this - "I can get you off with just my breasts." Who would you guess to be in the "smaller, firmer" coalition? It is my observation that women of all ages and older, more mature men tend to express preference for breasts in this overly-simplistic category. The women expressing interests in breasts appear to view the entire shape and symmetry of the breast and nipple together. They don't tend to focus on the extremes - very long nipples, huge breasts, etc. Breasts that are firm, capped with an erect, well-defined nipple and those that have a bit of a natural "teardrop" droop with a modest but well-defined nipple appear to be favorites. The interests of older men in smaller breasts can be best summarized by the "mouthful" paradigm - more than a mouthful is unnecessary. Oh, don't be fooled - those guys have no problems with large breasts per se, but they are old enough and wise enough to know that breasts are a source of pleasure for a woman, more so than they are for a man. I must admit that I am a member of this group. We love everything about breasts, but we are most interested in using them to pleasure our partners, and the smaller breasts are more...manageable. There is also a subtle, rarely discussed concern on our part that if we spend a lot of time on foreplay with breasts on a large-chested woman, she may think we are actually in the more superficial "bigger is better" contingent. If they are average-sized (or smaller) breasts, our attention on them rarely gets misinterpreted. Unlike the "bigger is better" group, there are well-defined sub-groups in the "smaller, firmer" group. The most well-known would be the "itty bitty titty committee." The ranks of this group tend to be filled by women with very small breasts and men who love a long, hard nipple more than the surrounding breast. I love this group for two reasons. First, I find women who are comfortable and proud of their breasts regardless of size and shape to be very comfortable and open about their sexuality. That is always a huge turn-on. The other reason is that I am one of those men who cares more about the nipple than the breast as a whole. I find it much more erotic to have a long, hard nipple in my mouth or fingers while a woman...expresses her enjoyment of associated feelings and sensations, than to have really large breasts that have wide, semi-flaccid nipples that don't have the same effect on the woman under similar ministrations. There is also the "school-girl" sub-group. Women with a youthful appearance and small, firm breasts are the preference for this group. I call it the "school-girl" group because the women of interest to this group tend to be young - breasts that may still be developing and are therefore small and firm. To me, this may be the most controversial and divisive group there is. There is almost a stigma associated with being in the "school-girl" group. If an older male expresses an interest or approval of a young woman with small, firm breasts, that opinion is derided with the offending party being labeled a "dirty old man." Terms like "jailbait" and "help her with her homework" are slung to belittle and demean the choice, even in a friendly, "all-opinions welcome" forum such as the Nipples forum I introduced at the beginning. I would also place Asian women as a subject of interest to this group. They tend to have a very youthful appearance and smaller, firmer breasts than their Caucasian counterparts. What I find interesting is that those expressing a preference for "Asian women" also tend to be drawn to Caucasian women who skew younger, smaller and firmer, but they won't necessarily admit to this due to the "stigma." I would challenge all of them to review a stack of 100 black and white photos, full frontal (face obscured) and side view (without showing face, butt or legs), of Asian women and Caucasian women with dark pink or brown nipples. I seriously doubt they would find any of the Caucasian women any less attractive or desirable than the Asians. Don't get me wrong - my point has nothing to do with race. I love women of all races equally. My point is that I feel the Asian "lovers" that ridicule those that prefer young, small and firm Caucasians are simply being hypocritical. Finally, there is the wrath of the more mature woman (say 35+) to a man expressing appreciation of a young, small and firm woman. Again, they don't appear to be as vocal about a man expressing a liking for Asian women, just when they express similar thoughts and opinions about a Caucasian woman. It is as if they consider the Asian preference a perfectly healthy and acceptable fetish, whereas a preference for Caucasian women with similar physical characteristics is seemingly akin to pedophilia. My overall preference is for mature women - I find their intellect and comfort with their sexuality to be very attractive and erotic. However, some young women can convey that same self-confidence and desire borne of self-awareness, and these women I find equally attractive. If they happen to be an 18 year old, small and firm Caucasian, so be it. However, if a woman with those characteristics happens to be an attractive 50 year old African-American grandma with very large breasts, I would probably gravitate to her more than to the 18 year old. But I can still find the 18 year old to be attractive without being a "dirty old man." It is sad that there are social issues concerning nipples and breasts. It is not fair that a woman with large breasts may feel compelled to hide them, but it happens. Men should not be made to feel guilty at finding a young, nubile woman to be attractive, but in today's climate of sex crimes, that also is a fact of life. As stated previously, nipples and breasts are good and an endless variety is truly a gift for us all to enjoy.
