Also, another huge thanks to her again for helping me iron it out and make it even better! ~~~~~~~ "Bitch!" Augustus Caesar muttered under his breath. Damned if he would let that bitch have anything from his father's estate, some money grubbing bitch that weaseled her way into his father's heart. His lawyers were already fighting the will. He couldn't believe his father would actually move his assistant in with him. She was 27! A 27 year old who agreed to marry his father; 67 year old Jules Caesar, money grubbing bitch! In truth his father was ancient before he was killed. An ancient vampire; individuals cringed at the mention of his name. This mere fucking human had wedged her way into his life and ultimately was engaged to him when he was assassinated. The bitch would find out soon. He had frozen every account his father had set up for her. Let her find out later. He was still smiling at his accomplishment; contesting the will. He couldn't help but look at her dressed in black, while his father was lowered into the ground. What a farce! Here she was falling to pieces sobbing. Dressed like some god damn WWII widow. What was with her dressing like it was WWII? He smiled a bit at the thought that she was already being thrown off the estate. She'd find out after the reception at the estate. ~~~~~~ Livia couldn't stop crying. Livia Ross had become Livia Caesar, she loved Jules. Their relationship had never been conventional. How could Augustus hate her? He didn't even know her. She still remembered when Jules had asked her out. She was in sales at his company and he asked if she would accompany him to a dinner since his date had cancelled last minute. He bought her an evening gown and everything. The gifts were not what she wanted! She wanted him. She'd trade it all for him to not be dead. Saying their relationship was normal was a pure lie. They went out that night and she felt completely out of her element. He refused to let her go that night. He kept his arm around her waist the entire time. The next morning she woke up at her usual time, she knew he didn't do mornings but she wanted to go home and get ready for her job, she wasn't rich like he was and she had to work hard to pay her bills. It took all her pleading for him to allow another driver to take her home. That's when the sky fell down. As soon as she approached the gate to enter the apartment complex she saw him, her ex-husband. She had been running from him for some time now. He was mentally ill and the drugs he took during their marriage had driven him over the edge. Dangerous is for rational people, he was more than that. He was evil. If Satan had become mentally ill that would be her ex-husband. Trey Ross, sounds like a sweet and innocent name sweet doesn't it? Liv had the restraining order, had him committed, but he had somehow been released. The limo had just dropped her off at her apartment; she didn't know that he was waiting. She had her keys out getting ready to go through the gate when she saw him. She started running to get away from him. There was no chance, a 105 lb woman at the age of 25, against a mentally ill delusional man who wanted her dead. Liv was 5 foot 2 with raven hair and eyes the color of caramel. Trey was six foot five and weighed a good 250 pounds. He used to play professional football until his illness manifested itself. High school sweethearts had gone horribly wrong. When she saw him she ran not caring about anything but getting away, even though she knew that it was highly unlikely she would be able to get away. Right there in the courtyard of her apartment he caught her, screaming, kicking and fighting was never enough. He had brutally raped her as she screamed in the courtyard for all the world to see. She kept remembering, just live through it. Don't fight him too much, it made things worse. She sobbed as he brutally slammed into her face down in the muddy courtyard. She almost choked on the dirt he was pushing her face into. She almost wished she did, at that time. She didn't realize she had been screaming the entire time. Trey removed his belt and looped it around her neck like a noose. This man was easily holding her up in the air off the ground, slowly killing her. Her hands were clenched and clawing at the belt trying to do everything to keep air going into her lungs. Someone had called the cops. While she was being held in the air suffocating, dozens of cop cars had surrounded him. Words were said, words she could no longer understand. Darkness was descending on her. She remembered hearing an EMT saying, "Welcome back, look at me, can you see me? We lost you for a few minutes there." Darkness descended again. She woke up seeing Jules, Julius was his full name but only business associates referred to him in that way. Jules stared at her while she was hooked to all this horrible equipment. She really didn't remember a lot of the damage Trey had inflicted on her, the pain of the rape and hanging was stuck on the forefront. Yet, here she was in a hospital bed with a broken leg and arm. She started to sob when she saw Jules. The shame, horror and hatred she expected to see in his face. She had seen none. Love, caring...unconditional with no demands in return was what she had seen in his eyes. Honestly, if he had not been her salvation by her guardian from the demon, she would have slit her wrists afterwards. Maybe dying that day would have been easier? Who was she kidding? She would have given her life today or any day for those two years he gave her. Her savior, her love, was now her lost love. Now it really didn't matter. He had taken her in. Never once asked for anything in return; just held her while she cried. She had been so injured, bruises, cuts, broken bones, emergency surgery for internal bleeding, not to mention the rape and near hanging. She didn't remember Trey hitting her but she was told he had. Jules had hired a nurse for her. He was 40 years older (in human years not vampire) than her but it seemed insignificant. He spent all the time he could with her. He had given her his room. He had started calling her his sun until one day she started crying. "How can I be your sun? How can I be anyone's sun? What did I do so wrong in this life for someone to want me dead? To hate me so much? How can you even stand to be near me?" He had said that was the day he fell endlessly in love with her. Liv staring up at him, swollen eyes from crying, lips swollen, and looking at him for answers. He told her he was more than human. That is when he shared a sacred gift with her, he gave her just enough blood to heal. "Jules, first of all it doesn't bother me but I am what I am. You do not owe me that! I owe you! How can you even stand me? Look at me? After the horrible things he did to me." "I love you! Hopelessly, endlessly, with everything I am! Does the idea repulse you? Do you think of me as a monster?" She stared up at him with eyes overflowing with tears. "Nothing you could ever do would repulse me! (she was on her knees holding his face) Monster? (her lip quivered and she tilted her head to the right) Monsters are of no species, race, creed, or color. Date, time, and all other are irrelevant and unexplainable...monsters are just monsters. Rationalization will never explain or show why there are monsters. You my love are absolutely no monster, maybe a Saint with extra long teeth." She giggled. Her mind went back to the present. She noticed Augustus glaring at her. She remembered Jules telling her when things got bad, "close your eyes, I'm here sweetheart." Her love, her life, was being buried in the cold ground in January. She still had to sing. Jules wanted her to sing a song for him according to the funeral arrangements when they went back to the estate. When they arrived at the estate she took nerve pills to make it through. She would have a hard time not falling to pieces during singing. Besides, what was the worst that would happen? She'd overdose? Not such a bad option at this point to be honest. She took 5 benzos downed with straight brandy in her old room. She couldn't stay in "their" room. An hour of individuals saying how sorry they were was horrible. Augustus glared at her the entire time. You would swear she had destroyed his life. He hated her from the first day. She knew when he found out about her singing and the orchestra it would piss him off. Not that it took much to piss Augustus off, he was like a toddler screaming for constant attention. Today was not for him. It was for Jules, her love, unselfish, nonjudgmental, only for him! Screw the world, she would never ever do anything to blacken this day. Black was color of the clouds hanging over her head and in her heart. It was like a bad countdown. She had to do everything to hold it together for him. She owed him that. He was so strong and she had to be for him. Augustus looked at her when he saw an orchestra setting up. "What the fuck is this?" "It's his wishes. I will not ever defy them. I am bound by my promise. I gave my word to do this." She glared at him. "A fucking orchestra for you to sing?" he said in a highly agitated voice. "Give me a break! This was your idea!" He screamed at her. "I'm only going by his wishes. I don't care about my own. I'm trying to hold it together to sing. I'd honestly rather slit my wrists with a razor right now, especially being around you, but I made a promise. I'm doing everything I can to not fall apart! So fuck off and back the fuck away from me!" Augustus slapped her hard. Her cheek started to bleed. She just glared at him. "Are you done?" "Like you would ever slit your wrists for him! You didn't even know him! I'm his damn son! You talk him into an orchestra for you to show off your singing? Selfish bitch!" Augustus fumed as he walked away. Liv screamed at him, "I would have given my life on that day for him. Any day so he would be here now. Don't talk to me about devotion about love! Where the fuck were you?" Jules best friend, Valerius, grabbed Augustus as he was ready to go after Liv, and pulled him off into a room. "August what the hell are you doing? I found out you were having her tossed out after this! Tell me it is not true. Tell me you are not going against your father's wishes." Valerius sometimes wondered why he was friends with Augustus, this was one of those times. "She was only here for his money. She's just some human looking for a meal ticket." "Do not disgrace your father like this. She's not like that. Lucus will be here soon, how do you think he will react to this? Don't make me remind you, Lucus is the ruler of all the vampires and a dear friend to Jules." "How would you know what she's like? Do you know her? Do you know how he's put her in the will? I'm his god damn son! I'm sure Lucus could see right through her and he'll be relieved I'm kicking her out after the song." "I know more than you think. Don't do this Augustus until you meet with me after the funeral. She is human. I worry this is too much for her. Discuss it with Lucus before you do this." "She's just faking, damn it!" Though he couldn't get the feeling out of his gut when he looked in her eyes as she talked about slitting her wrists, he felt that she just might do it. Something bothered him about it. He was overreacting. She was a lying uncaring human. They all lie. "I hear your thoughts as they scream. Please tell me she did not say that. Augustus, don't do this. You'll regret it. Just take time to rethink and we can decide in a week or two. Don't dishonor your father now." "He was my father no matter what she talked him into, I knew him." "Augustus, you did not know how she changed him. How she loved him. She never wanted anything from him. Damn it Augustus, when he proposed, she tried to tell him she felt bad for taking the vintage ring! She said she was a clumsy and human. Give her silver and cubic zirconium. She honestly tried to hand it back, stupid excuses of her only being human and not being able to protect it. She was not lying when she said... "Damn it Jules, a string in a knot was fine as long as I only have you!" Valerius laughed a bit. "She's in the front of over 100 people; only worried about letting him down. Saying that she was a mere frail, klutzy, fragile human and yes was her answer, she needed no ring...nothing he had to give her to convince him. Just his love." "Sounds like a great actress to me." Valerius started to get angry. "Augustus, I am older and wiser than you. If you do this now Lucus will become very angry with you. I know and can sense what she meant. She was never lying." Just then the orchestra was about to start. "Everyone, can you please gather. As much as I just want to cry in the closet alone and nurse a bottle of straight vodka...I promised this to him. He wanted it. My love, my dear Jules wanted me to sing. The man who saved my life. I offered my life in exchange but they wouldn't take it. I'd give my life, my soul in exchange for his, in exchange for him to be here today instead of me." "I owe so much to Jules. He saved my life more than once. He offered me things he never was required or had to. He was smarter, sweeter and my love. My everything. He called me his Evy, his everything but it should have been the other way around. I will love him always. He was always so much better at holding things together than I was. Look at me, I'm falling to pieces in front of all his friends." "It's funny that on our first date, for those who don't know, umm...I died. Now I know most of you think. Oh how sweet. No, it wasn't at all nostalgic, with that common phrase "I died a bit inside." I actually died. He was there by my bedside, there for me. I still feel unworthy of his love. But I cherish every moment I had with him so I dedicate this to him, to show my love to him. I could never ever ask for anything more, even if it had been two days and not two years. I would still exchange my life for his." "So here we go...I miss you and love you my Jules...." The orchestra started. "The following song I dedicate to him." Liv sang her heart out, to say goodbye to her love. "I love you, I'll miss you, In my heart you'll always stay...The Jules of my heart." The orchestra took a break and got ready for the next song for another singer to sing. Valerius went over to Augustus standing in the kitchen door watching her sing. Could someone lie that much? Show that much emotion singing to just be liar? She smelled like pills. She'd taken too many. Who was he to care? "No, Augustus, she's not lying. She's trying not to fall to pieces. She never even asked him to turn her. August, (as he was sometimes called) don't do this! Don't disgrace your father like this." Valerius was angry and stormed away. Liv walked into the bedroom and Augustus followed. "Pack one bag, don't take any of the jewelry he gave you. I want you out of here now. You've made your appearance. I've already talked to Lucus and we want you out of here. It's best if you leave before he gets here." Liv just stood there staring in shock. "NOW LIV! Get your shit and get the hell out!" "But why would Lucus be mad at me? I don't understand." "You stupid bitch, can't you tell that everyone is just being nice to you. They all hate you and blame you for his death, especially Lucus." In a very weak shaking voice she answered, "Ok." She packed a couple sets of clothes and some toiletries in a bag. She grabbed the small framed photo of Jules and put it in her bag. "Ok, um I can just take the Toyota." "You're not taking any vehicle. I'll have the limo drop you in the city. You don't have any legal right to anything." She turned to leave and Augustus spoke, "Aren't you forgetting something." "I don't think so." She looked around the room to try and figure out what he was referring to. "The jewelry you dumb ass bitch. You don't get to take it with you." Liv was shaking at that point pulling off all the rings and bracelets that Jules had bought her. She was shaking so bad she couldn't get the clasp undone. "Damn it bitch, can't you do anything right." August ripped the necklace from her neck causing it to bleed. "I was supposed to go to the doctor tomorrow. Does...Does my medical end at the end of the month." "Your medical is terminated. I cancelled the appointment." Liv picked up the bag, "OK, I'm ready." "Are you that fucking stupid bitch? The wedding ring, you don't get to keep it. Take the damn thing off." "Please let me have something of his." "You have the picture now get the fuck out!" "I get it. I am and never have been good enough. It's OK Augustus, don't worry. I won't fight you. I'm purely happy to have had his love for two years. I'd still give my life for his. I'm OK." "Stop playing the wounded victim here. Just get the fuck out of my house!" All of this was becoming too much for Liv. She was going to be sick so she ran into the bathroom and dry heaved. Then she remembered she hadn't eaten in...well she couldn't remember when. Augustus barged into the bathroom, "Can't you just fucking leave already?" In between the dry heaves Liv tried to speak, "Just...Just...let me stop...throwing up." Liv started heaving twice as hard. Valerius had been standing outside the door and barged in pulling Augustus out of the bathroom. "Back off Augustus! She's throwing up. Let her finish throwing up alone, damn it. You are acting like some god damn spoiled brat!" Ten minutes later Liv finally finished throwing up and brushed her teeth. She was weak and Valerius helped her up off the floor. "Liv honey, you're running a fever." "It's just the stress it will go away. Thank you for helping me up." Valerius had promised to take care of both Augustus and Liv and now he had to decide. He just kept looking at her. She looked so sick. So frail. Before she left she went around and gave everyone a hug. "Thank you all for attending. Jules would have been proud." She grabbed the bag and got ready to leave. "I'll carry it to the limo for you." She heard Valarius say. He slid 100 in her bag as he carried it to the limo. Augustus had planned it out and had a temporary driver drop her in the middle of the city. "You should really stay until Lucus arrives. So where are you going to stay? How can we get a hold of you for the will?" Liv started to get even more nervous. Liv was in shock, sick and nothing made sense. Her bottom lip started to quiver as she held back the tears. "I um...I'll find somewhere to stay. I won't be able to make it to the will reading. I've been told to leave, I can't let Jules funeral become a fight. I'm too weak to handle much more fighting. Tell Lucus I am sorry about everything. There's no need to worry about me and the will. I won't contest it." She gave Valerius a big hug. This would be the last time she's see him. "Thank you for everything Valerius." During all the stress she had forgotten to lock off her thoughts. "Liv, look at me. Are you ok? How much money do you have? Here's my room key. I'll get another room, don't argue with me but if you need to stay there you just go to my room and stay." "That's very kind of you but I've got the cards if I need to get a hotel room." She didn't tell him that Augustus had taken her credit cards and locked all of her accounts. She had $40 on her. Liv did everything she could to hold herself together. She had to hold it together and get out of here. She would make things go the way they should have. She would die like she should have. "Valerius, I'm fine. I've got some cash. I have the account Jules set up for me. I'll get by." To Love a Vampire Ch. 01 "You call me if you need anything." He slid the card in her pocket. "I will." Liv didn't have the heart to tell him Augustus took her cell since Jules had paid for it. ~~~~~~ Before she left she hugged Augustus. "Augustus, I wish you could understand how much I loved him. Goodbye. Augustus, he loved you. When I don't show on Friday just do the will. It's all yours I won't be there." Augustus just gave her a look of disgust and walked off. ~~~~~~ As Liv left her home she saw Lucus' limo approaching. She hurried into the limo so he didn't see her. ~~~~~~ Valerius headed to the back room where he heard Augustus, neither of them noticed Lucus approaching. "Your father would be ashamed of you. You are one cold heartless bastard." Valerius was beginning to get irate with Augustus now. "He'd be proud. I convinced her Lucus blames her for his death and everyone despises her. I've locked off every account. I'm not a huge bastard I let her keep the $40 in her wallet." He thought what a bitch to move out of his father's room after his death. He then saw folders under the dresser. He saw the photos of her ex-husband's handy work. Then he saw an envelope with a DVD in it. Lucus stormed in like a force to be reckoned with, anger etched on his face, "Augustus, I want you to tell me what the hell you have done!" "I had the money grubbing bitch thrown out. I'm fighting the will. I've locked all her bank accounts. She doesn't deserve anything else." He explained how he convinced her everyone hated her. "You did what?! Augustus, give me the DVD. I originally didn't want you to see this but I think since you've proven you are unable to be an adult, you need to see how your father died." "Lucus, I have tried to talk to him. He won't listen." Lucus unpacked his laptop out of the bag. "Hand me the DVD. Augustus it's time for you to see this." Over the next 45 minutes the DVD showed Liv being raped over and over in front of Julius. It showed Jules begging for her life and her offering her own for his. "Just don't kill him, let him go and you can keep me forever and do whatever you want to me. Just let him go." Augustus got to see his father die as Liv was being brutally raped but screaming, "take me, just take me. Kill me instead of him." Lucus began to speak, "Augustus we will discuss punishment on another day. I will send men out to find Liv and bring her back." ~~~~~ I hope you like the start of this story, feedback is appreciated. And please, don't forget to vote :) To Love a Vampire Ch. 02 Once again, a huge thank you to Meridian13 who supplied the first big chunk of this story and allowed me to put my own spin on it. And thanks to all of you for the kind words you've given me. Enjoy. ~~~~~~ Liv's abdomen hurt. She had been walking for what felt like forever. She saw a homeless shelter and was told they had no space left. For the next few days she tried to find doorways and alleys to sleep in. It had only been 3 days since the funeral. Someone had stolen her bag. Every now and then she was able to get into the shelter but unfortunately tonight they had no space. ~~~~~~ Lucus was livid. He had his people searching for days. The longer this took the more angry he became. If it wasn't for the fact Augustus was Julius's son then he'd have him killed. He had his people searching everywhere for her. "Augustus, what have you done? She's alone and helpless. She's lost her husband and been told all her friends including me, hate her." Lucus held Augustus's face in his hands, "Tell me Augustus, is this what you wanted? Look at me Augustus and answer me!" "No! I wanted her to hurt like I hurt. I thought it was her fault he was dead. I was wrong." "You will search the morgues for her. You better pray that she's alive." "I know you are still considered a young vampire but this you should know. She is human. She is a very rare, fragile human. If there is any deity you believe in you had better start praying now that we find and save her." "Lucus, my ignorance is not an excuse and no matter what, I will accept any punishment you choose for me. I was wrong. I don't want her to die." "Valerius, any idea where we should check?" "She's homeless, shelters, alleys, basically everywhere." "Valerius, call Mark. Get a search out at all the hospitals." ~~~~~~ It had been an entire week. Liv couldn't find an open shelter. She only had two dollars. She was saving it for when she was even hungrier. A group of men started walking down the alley and Liv hurried to get away. Unfortunately she wasn't quick enough. Just when she thought life couldn't get worse, it did. She was going to be violently raped and sodomized. Still unhealed from the brutal rape before Jules was murdered, the pain this brute caused by shoving his fingers into her made her scream with pain and pass out. Some stranger walked along saw what was happening and started screaming at the group and they ran. He called the cops thinking she was dead. The ambulance hurried to get her to the hospital. Mark, a doctor that worked with vampires, was just about to leave his shift when a nurse came in. "Mark, you might want to see the victim we just brought in. We're not sure she's going to make it but she had this in her hand." Mark stared down at the picture of Jules, worn from her carrying it in her pocket. Mark ran to the ER ward to personally see if it was Liv. He was horrified by the sight he saw. She had been brutally beaten raped and sodomized, her arm was broken along with broken ribs and that was just the beginning. He hurried the crew to rush her back to the special vampire wing of the hospital as he grabbed his phone. "Mark, please give me good news." "Good and bad, we found her; she's been raped and sodomized, and beaten. We don't know if she'll make it. I have her back in the vampire wing and we're working on her." "I will be coming down to feed her to get her well. I'll be there in no time. Keep her alive." Lucus said, while rushing through the house towards the garage and his car. ~~~~~~ Liv was delirious with a fever. She was having dinner with Jules late at night on the beach. He sat their glasses down and started to tickle her. As she squirmed he got hard. "I think I need to take that dress off of you and do you right now." He pulled the strap down on her dress and proceeded to suckle her breast. He smiled up at her. "I could live on these alone." Then the scene changed. They were standing near the ocean. He took her hand. "Remember all our trips to the ocean my love?" "I remember every one of them. I remember the night my dear husband proposed, the second time, in the water. I remember how you thrust into me when I said yes to you for the second time that night. I remember you nursing me back to health when I was attacked. I am so, so sorry my dear husband, for letting you down. But I'm not sorry for dying now to be with you." "My dearest wife, my sweet little one, I can't have you dying. You have so much to do. Things are not what they seem. There's a great surprise coming for you soon. I love you with all my heart. All I hope is that you can forgive me from not saving you from what has been done to you. I wish I had more time with you but I don't, it's time to go back my love. Can you forgive me?" "Of course! Always! Forever and ever!" "My love, don't close down your heart. Allow others in. Now get well my little one, I love you." "I love you" ~~~~~~ "CLEAR!" was screamed in the background. "We have a pulse. It's weak. The infection is bad. She's lost a lot of blood. Mark if Lucus doesn't get here soon what do we do?" "I'm here! OH MY GOD!" Lucus rushed up to her. He was so shocked at how emaciated she was and he could feel her death coming. Mark tried to rush the transfusion machine in the room. "We don't have time!" Lucus cut his wrist and put it to Liv's lips. "Guys hold her up a little." "Little one can you hear me? You must drink from me." The blood was just dripping from her lips and out. His voice got louder, "Don't give up on me Liv, drink! Don't let Jules down, you must drink." She slowly started to swallow. "That's my little one, keep drinking. Ok that's enough I'll give you more later." She still was hurt but it would greatly accelerate the healing. Mark began splinting her arm while everyone else was rushing around examining and hooking up IV's with medication. After stabilizing her they went into another room to discuss things. "We will have to wait an hour between feedings. Lucus, I could feed her too." "I appreciate the offer Mark but I'm calling First Rite to her." "I never even thought of that. Of course you will be the one to feed her." "Doctor we have an issue. We ran a pregnancy test and it came back positive. I know she's human but we can't get a picture with the regular ultrasound machine. I also cannot use the internal one due to tearing from the rape." "Nurse, go and get the newest machine, tell them it's an emergency." Another nurse brought over a long needle. "Let's get the sample of amniotic fluid first." Mark was trying to hide how hard he was having to push to get the needle in. He finally had it in place and withdrew a small sample. He handed it to another nurse who took it for testing. "Now the ultrasound." The new machine was just wheeled in. As it showed on the screen Mark pointed it out. "Right there is the 1st baby and right there is the 2nd baby." "Immortal children? She's pregnant with immortal children? They are Jules right? Not from the rape?" "Let's go talk in the other room." Mark showed Lucus next door. "Yes, definitely immortal. I didn't think I was going to be able to get the amniotic fluid. I'm having it tested to be safe, but she looks about 12 weeks along. As far as what we should expect? No clue. I'm almost positive they are Jules' babies, but will be checking to be safe and that they are not a result of the rape. I highly doubt it due to the strength of the uterus. It will take a while to figure out if she contracted any disease during the rape. You giving her your blood should destroy that." "Thank you. I won't forget what you've done today." Lucus felt like his heart wanted to start beating again when he heard that Liv was pregnant. "You saved her life too!" Mark said in a relieved voice. The doctor hooked up the IV to Lucus to remove extra blood for Liv. Once he finished, they walked back into Liv's room. She was missing. The nurse walked in, "I didn't see her leave, where did she go?" "I didn't see her either, I'll call code to have her found." Mark was worried. Lucus looked at Mark, "Do you have a towel with her blood on it?" Mark nodded and handed one to him, Lucus licked it to connect to her. "She's going to the roof to jump." Mark pressed the building alert and staff started running to the roof. Lucus had the lead. As he saw Liv on the edge of the hospital roof he tried to trance her into coming to him. "Come to me little one. I'm going to take care of you. You don't want to jump." "Your offer is sweet Lucus, but I need to join Jules. I know everyone blames and hates me. Did you know I'm actually extremely scared of heights? Wouldn't know it with me dancing on the ledge like this would you?" She stopped dancing and stared at Lucus with a full smile and tears of sorrow running down her face. "Don't worry, it will all be right. Full moon, it's a sign." With her head raised to the moon and outstretched arms. She sobbed out her words, "The despair won't go away...Please forgive me for this disgrace...My broken heart must join Jules." She closed her eyes and allowed herself to fall backwards off ledge of the building. Lucus ran as fast as he could to catch her but he just missed catching her. Mike and Lucus looked over the edge just in time to hear, "I caught her." An intern had opened a window and caught her as she fell. She was unconscious when the intern handed her to Lucus. "Sir, I think she hit her head." Lucus looked at the intern, "Thank you, you have saved something very precious to us." Lucus walked back to the room with Mark as Mark reassured him, "She'll be fine but I'm going to strap her down." "I think my heart just came out of my chest, damn thing may be beating now!" stated Lucus with a jittery sound to his voice. "Lucus , do you want to stay in while I treat her with your blood?" "Yes," he took some tissues and wiped the tears and dirt from her face. "I want to see all the damage they did to her during her attack. All of it." "I understand, it's pretty bad Lucus. I want to prepare you. I'm going to give her a shot to make sure she stays under." Mark took his time showing all of the damage the attackers had done to her. "Now I'm going to start the IV with your blood." "After 15 minutes I'm going to start a new idea I have for treating the internal lacerations." "I appreciate this Mark. I need to take a walk, I thought I was angry before but seeing everything they did to her is making me furious." "It infuriates me too. My job is to fix her now. She'll be out for a while so take your time." ~~~~~~~~ Sometime later Livia regained consciousness and Lucus was there, waiting at her bedside. "I saw Jules when I died. I wanted to go back but he said I had some surprise here. Lucus, are you going to punish me for Jules death?" Her eyes poured tears, "I understand everyone hating me. I'm so sorry. You can just let me die. I'm so sorry he died." Her voice was so weak and sounded like a child. He went and sat next to her holding her hand. "Sweetheart, no one other than Augustus was mad at you. You were strong and brave and offered your life to save him. You will be staying with me. I think I know the surprise Jules was referring to, you are pregnant with immortal children. Only someone worthy could be given such a gift. I'm going to let Mark finish examining you and I will be right back." Lucus got on the cell phone, "Find each of the men who attacked her. I will deal with each personally." Mark examined Liv and noticed the lacerations weren't completely healing so he treated them by applying Lucus's blood over each laceration and that got them to finally heal. The nurse, Jody, spoke to him, "Great idea doctor. The poor thing has gone through enough. Don't forget to use it on her wrists. It might get rid of any possible scars from when she cut them. Lucus has been so amazing with her. I mean no disrespect by talking about the ancient one while he is not here, but his treatment of her has been so kind. After all she's gone through she definitely needs that." "You speak like you know her." Mark said as he looked up at in her surprised. "I worked here the first night she was brought in after her ex-husband tried to kill her. She was never supposed to be able to have babies. Mr. Caesar sat at her bedside the entire night. I became friends with her while she was here. She said Jules felt he was taking her ability to have kids away from her, until they found out that she wouldn't be able to have children. I know it hurts that he's gone, but now she has something to hang onto with the babies. I noticed the lacerations. I'm assuming she was raped during the kidnapping, might I suggest we have a therapist visit her twice a week? She's gone through so much." The nurse was brushing Liv's hair away from her forehead. "Jody, thank you for informing me of her past, I will work with Lucus. I'm sure we will be taking her to stay at his estate. I'll be sure we get everything set up. If she is comfortable with you as the nurse on site would you like the job?" "I'd be honored, but with Mr. Caesar just passing I think a new nurse would be better. She's mourning. If I was around all the time, it might be a reminder of what she went through and what she is missing." Lucus walked into the room and Mark asked him "I can have her set up in your estate or do you want us to keep her here?" "She'll come home with me. Mark, pick a nurse to come with you and bring the equipment you need to take care of her." Liv was unhooked from the IV and Lucus insisted on carrying her to the limo. Once at the estate he had her set up in a bright cheerful room. She started to stir as he was tucking her into bed so he leaned against the headboard and pulled her into his arms making sure to keep her warm. "I'm sorry Lucus." Liv started to cry. "Hush little one, you've gone through more than you ever should have to, so you stay with me. We get you well. I'm going to implement some rules because I can't have you hurting yourself. I need you to let me read you. Will you unblock for me little one? I will hold you and keep you safe." Her heart rate sped up. "What's wrong little one?" "I'm scared and embarrassed." She hesitated for a few moments but then said, "Ok I'll unblock, I trust you." "I've got you, you're safe, just hold onto me." Lucus saw everything that happened to her from the attack to the funeral. Liv just sobbed in his arms. "I'm sure you're ashamed of me and never want to see me again. If you could just have someone drop me off downtown I'll figure something out." "You underestimate me little one. Strong vampires wouldn't have made it through what you did." He tilted her chin so she had to look at him. "I've never seen such a brave, loving and loyal one like you. You hold your head high. I am proud of you. Now I have a surprise for you." He lifted her and walked through the adjoining door to the right. "Now this is my room. Just knock before entering, but if you get scared or need to cry or anything I'm here for you. I don't want you to be intimidated of me and honored if you need me to hold you." "Now for another surprise, I'm not going to let you walk around so I'll just walk you around the room" Lucus walked back into her room and through an adjoining room on the left. "It's a nursery." She started to sob. Mark walked in the door. "I can't have children ever." Both men soothed her, "I'm not sure if you remember me, I'm Mark, your doctor, we told you at the hospital that you are expecting twins, but with the shock of the attack you probably don't remember. This is the ultrasound of your twins, rare, unique, immortal twins. It's only been in folklore and stories and now you are carrying these babies." Mark handed tissues to Liv. Lucus said, "Look at me. This is a good thing. You can stay with me forever if you want to and raise the babies. Parts of Jules exist inside of you." "And I will be here with a nurse to keep you under our care and we'll bring in someone for you to talk to. Everything is going to be fine." Lucus noticed Liv flinched. "Ouch!" She rubbed her stomach, Lucus carried her back to her bed and Mark's nurse brought in exam equipment. "I just need to check Liv, this is brand new to all of us, just being extra cautious." Mark draped her from the waist down. Lucus was sitting Indian style behind her and put a pillow under her head. He kept stroking her cheek. "You don't have to be here." Liv said in a small, sad voice. "I want to be here. I want to be here for you. Do you have any idea how much of an honor it is for me to be here with you through this?" "I never had children before I became vampire. This is amazing, not to mention immortal twins." "That's why she flinched." Lucus looked concerned at Mark. Mark printed the ultrasound picture, "And then there were three." Liv face was etched with dread, "Please tell me I'm not having a litter." Then she started to giggle. "If anything more than 5 show up I'm going to run away." "You wouldn't be able to run with 5 babies in you." Mark said while chuckling. "Who taught them kung fu?" Liv asked, while rubbing her stomach. Lucus and Mark looked at her and asked at the same time, "Can we feel?" "I might as well get used to this. Everyone is going to want to touch the Buddha belly." "Thank you for everything, both of you." She said in a very tired voice. Mark looked at her, "You might not thank me when I tell you bed rest for at least the first week so I can see how things progress. We'll take complete care of you." Mark had removed all the equipment and redressed her, covering her up. They were still rubbing her stomach. Lucus sent a message to Mark's mind, "She needs to eat more; it's only a tiny bump." Mark just nodded, "Will take care of it. Remember we may have some trial and error. She wasn't fed much after Jules died and then living on the streets." They both looked down and noticed she was asleep. Daylight was about to arise. Mark sent a message to Lucus' mind, "She's comfortable with you. You could just hold her and sleep. Otherwise, you will have the joy of her screaming nightmares every 30 minutes." "Thanks Mark, but not until she's comfortable with that." They tucked her in and both retired to their rooms. Like clockwork 30 minutes later she was screaming. Lucus and Mark ran in to see her crying and hyperventilating. Lucus scooped her up into his arms. "Hush little one, it was just a nightmare." He rocked her till she calmed down. He went to put her down. "Could you stay and hold me at least until I fall asleep? It makes me feel safe." Her big caramel colored eyes were pleading with him, he didn't have a choice, not that he minded at all. Mark didn't say anything and left. Lucus held Liv with his arms around her on laying their sides. '~~~~~~ He started to wake realizing he was stretched out with a tiny woman wrapped around him. Her leg was thrown over his stomach, her head snuggled against his neck. Both of her hands were on his chest. As his head cleared he remembered this was Liv. He couldn't resist. He put his hand over her tiny baby bump. He tried mentally sending a message to the babies, "don't you worry, I'm going to make sure you and your mommy are taken care of." The babies seemed to settle down and Liv moaned in her sleep. He had always liked Liv. He pushed the process through faster on Jules marrying Liv, since she was a human, they needed to go through a longer process in order to get married. There was no way he would allow her to go this alone. It would be against Jules wishes. Jules had always assumed if he died his son would take care of her. That was proven wrong with how Augustus treated her. Lucus caught the vision Liv tried to block from him, when Augustus hit her at the funeral. The will reading would be in four days and he would attend on her behalf. He would deal with that and the issue of First Right. An ancient tradition but he knew would come into play since there would be no way the entire vampire community wouldn't know about the immortal children. To Love a Vampire Ch. 02 First Right was in the original laws of the vampires. Should one vampire die, and the act of the mate warranted exemplary action, then other single vampires could claim First Right to take him/her under their protection. After 1 year of courting they could become mated. The most ancient vampires had first call and then next would be the oldest child of the family and then all the rest of the vampires. He felt this one would turn into a waiting list. The mate who was subject to First Right could deny any suitor. Lucus was going to call First Right. He was the first in line, if Augustus really wanted her he would have 1 year to prove he deserved her. He would see how it played out but since he was nominated the decider of who claims first right from Jules, he would make sure only the best vampire would get her. If none were worthy she would stay with him. He decided to take another nap. He pulled the covers up and whispered in her ear, "I'll keep you safe little one, I guess I should say little ones." He was smiling as he fell asleep. ~~~~~~~~ I hope you enjoy this chapter as well, working on Chapter 3 right now :). As always, feedback is much appreciated and please vote! To Love a Vampire Ch. 03 Sorry for the delay, I'm working as fast as I can :). Thanks again to Meridian13 for her help and patience in dealing with my million emails while bouncing ideas back and forth. And no sex in this chapter, just doesn't fit into this part of the story, but it's coming so don't worry. ~~~~~~ Mark knocked then entered Liv's room. He just smiled seeing Liv wrapped around Lucus. Mark pulled a chair up to Lucus's side of the bed. They started to talk telepathically. Mark smiled, "Put me on the First Right list but I'm going to be lucky if you let her go." "I can definitely see how she had Jules wrapped around her finger, such strength from someone who has gone through so much. Is everything going alright with the pregnancy?" Lucus unconsciously started running his hand up and down Liv's abdomen. "So far so good, I'll do another exam on her when she's awake. I still want all the knives and sharp objects locked up. The psychologist will be here this afternoon. Also, I don't recommend her attending the reading of the will." "I won't let her. I'm going and will take care of it. I have to deal with First Right and Augustus will be punished for his behavior at the funeral." Lucus had to consciously reign in his temper, he didn't want to scare or waken Liv. "How are you going to handle it if she decides to let the maximum five vampires court her?" Lucus started to growl and Liv started to flinch and cry in her sleep. "Hush little ones, it's ok. You're safe." Glaring at Mark, he growled out. "Why don't you leave us? Liv is behind on her sleep. " "You're getting attached Lucus. You still have your hand on her stomach." "It keeps the babies sedate, she sleeps better," Lucus said with a sheepish smile. Mark just smiled at the comment, but he was thinking that he had no chance in hell of getting Liv away from Lucus. "Go back to sleep. It's good to see you taking care of her." He couldn't help but feel proud that Lucus was taking care of her. ~~~~~ Over the next few days they settled into a routine. Lucus had slept with her every night since she moved in with him. Except for that first night, she hadn't asked him to come to hold her, he came in on his own. He decided he needed to sit down and talk to her about it. "Liv, I need to talk to you." He sat down on the side of her bed and looked at her. "You cry and sob in your sleep so I come in the night and stay to hold you and make you feel secure." "I'm so sorry Lucus, maybe we should move my room to another part of the house or out to the guest house, I don't want to be bothering you. You've already done so much for me. Also, I don't want to overstay my welcome. I'm going to start looking for a job." Liv was trying to hide her tears; tears of shame, loss and her need for help made her feel helpless. Lucus picked her up setting her on his lap, "I am not complaining, Livia. Jules was my best friend and please understand that holding you at night is not an obligation to me. I like having you there. I think you should just move into my room. No matter what, you are now part of the vampire world and that means you won't be leaving us and going off to work a job all day. You won't be crying alone in some cheap apartment because you lost your husband and are having triplets. Vampires and I will not allow it. Also, today is the day I will go handle the will." "When should I get dressed?" Liv looked up at him, searching his eyes to see if what he said was true. He felt himself melting inside as he stared into those beautiful caramel colored eyes. "You are not going. I will be handling it for you. Don't get mad at me, there are many things to deal with and the most important thing is you staying in bed. Mommy and babies need to stay warm, relaxed and safe. There are diplomatic issues surrounding you carrying immortal children. I can't risk you being there. I will handle it and then later after I've returned. We'll sit down and I'll explain everything to you." "Lucus, I can handle this myself. I'm getting stronger." She said stubbornly. Lucus silently cursed himself for upsetting her, but then he smiled inside when he looked at the stubborn look on her face. "I'm not saying you couldn't but I have more knowledge of the laws and I am the best person to handle this. Don't underestimate the magnitude of you having immortal children. It's been 3,000 years since the last one was born and there were wars afterwards. I want to make sure this is done safely and you don't need any stress." Lucus took a breath. "In memory of Jules I also must punish Augustus for the way he treated you. It is against our laws. I don't want you to be there for that." "I will share everything with you but I must get going. Don't you worry. Everything is going to be great." Lucus moved his hand down to her stomach, "Tell your mommy to relax, that Lucus will take care of everything." Lucus noticed she started to look tired. "Back into bed with you and promise me, no worrying." "I promise." Liv got out while trying to suppress a yawn. Lucus smiled and tucked her in, walked across her room and after closing the doors quietly he crossed the hall and then headed into his office, the reading of the will would be later. ~~~~~~~~ A soft knocking broke Lucus out of his thoughts, "enter" he said quietly, knowing that the person knocking would hear him. Mark walked in and said "I did another exam on Liv, she is progressing much faster than we expected." "What do you mean?" Lucus said in a worried tone. "Relax," Mark replied, with a small smile. "We aren't really sure what to expect with an immortal pregnancy, and you add triplets to that, it's going to be a learn as we go experience." Lucus visibly relaxed, Mark was one of the few that Lucus was comfortable enough to show emotions to. "She is already about 12 weeks along and it looks like her pregnancy will be about 5 or 6 months total, which means 3 months tops until we have these miracle babies here with us." Mark excitedly explained, he felt so fortunate to be included in the care of these children and Liv. "How is her body handling the rapid changes?" Lucus asked. "With the amount of your blood we gave her, and possibly the powers the triplets are sharing with her, she is doing remarkably well." Mark replied. Lucus sat back and thought about all of the changes that would be coming in such a short amount of time. He would announce First Right at the will reading, that was planned to begin very soon, they needed to get going. "Lets go, Mark, we need to get to the conference room." Lucus stated as he stood and began walking to the door. He smiled as he passed his bedroom doors, ready to see Liv again, but it would have to wait. ~~~~~~ Lucus and Mark entered the conference room, which was already full of ancient vampires and Augustus, who was considered a baby comparitively. Since Julius was an ancient, his lawyers were highly trusted vampires as well, and his will most likely included other ancients and not just immediate family. "Ok, everyone, lets get this going so we can conduct some other business and then send you all on your way." stated Lucus in his typical matter of fact way. "Thank you, sir." the lawyer stated as he read the will, nothing unexpected came up in the reading, Liv inherited a vast amount of money and several of Jules' homes, some charities also received some money, and Augustus inherited the rest of the vast fortune. One thing that may have surprised Augustus, since he had been away for several years discovering himself, he hadn't kept up with his fathers affairs that closely. Augustus was expected to give some of his time and money to one of Julius' favorite charities, an orphanage that was close to his hometown. Julius had a big heart and always wanted people to feel loved and supported like he was in his large vampire community and especially since meeting and marrying Liv. Lucus stood after the will reading concluded and said that, although he had planned announcing Augustus' punishment, he felt that he needed to start his fathers work first, the punishment would come later after he consulted with Liv. "One last matter of business to attend to and then we will conclude this meeting." Lucus said as he made eye contact with everyone in the room. "I am calling First Right to Livia, she is under my protection and in one year she will choose who she wants to mate." There were a few shocked expressions but most seemed to be expecting the news. Augustus then stood and said "I know I am expected to be one of the five to court her, but I still believe it is her fault that my father is not here with us, I will not be courting her at this time. I do keep my place as one of the five though." This statement did cause some gasps from the group in the room. Lucus was very angry, but hid it well, he did not want to kill Augustus outright, which is what he really wanted to do at this point, so he just sat down and said "very well." "I expect those that want to court Liv to submit their names to me through my assistant and I will send out a list of those that are chosen within 48 hours, as is the custom." Lucus said through gritted teeth. "Dismissed." After the room cleared out of everyone but Mark and Lucus' other close friend, James, Lucus allowed some of his anger to come through. "I can't believe the bastard still thinks Liv could be at fault for this!" Lucus raged. "He is young and foolish, maybe you shouldn't put his punishment off much longer." Mark counseled. "He's right, Lucus, Augustus needs to grow up real fast or he will cause Liv a great deal of heartache." said James. "I know, I know" Lucus said, then a small smile began to spread across his lips. "What are you thinking?" Mark asked. "I think I just thought of a good punishment for Augustus." Lucus said as he began laughing. "You'll have to wait just a bit longer to find out though." Both James and Mark groaned, neither one liked surprises and both were used to getting whatever they wanted immediately. They got up and followed Lucus out as he left the conference room. He returned to his small office across the hall from his bedroom, he didn't like being very far from Liv. "Gentlemen, please sit and have a drink with me, then I must return to Liv and share the news with her." Lucus said while gesturing to two seats across from his desk. Just as Lucus was about to sit himself, Liv walked into the room with a sheepish look on her face. "Sorry, I didn't realize you had company, I can come back later." "No, no please come in, is everything alright?" Lucus said as he ran over to her, checking out her belly that seemed to be protruding even more than it was just a few hours before. Liv laughed and said "I'm fine, I'm just a bit lonely so I thought I would come see how the will reading went." Mark and James got up and excused themselves, Mark said he would come back the next day to exam Liv again. Lucus scooped Liv up and walked her back to his bedroom, he missed her already and he mentally scolded himself for being so attached knowing that he had to let four others court her and she might choose one of them. Propping Liv up against some cushions on his bed, he smiled at her and then sat down next to her. "Liv, the reading went well, you are one very wealthy woman, thanks to Jules' love for you." Lucus said in a low calm voice, knowing that talking about Jules' would upset her. Liv smiled a small smile, remembering the good times she had with Jules and the three babies she carried because of him. "I know, Lucus, and I loved him so very much." "I know, sweetie, I know." Lucus wrapped her in his arms and cuddled her for a little while. "How are you feeling?" he finally asked. "I'm ok, I can't believe how fast my skin is stretching though. Mark said I may only have three months to prepare for their arrival, I'm a bit nervous." Liv said in a small voice. "You wont be alone, Liv, I promise you that. You look so much better than yesterday, it amazes me." Lucus said with a touch of pride in his voice, knowing that his blood helped her heal so quickly. "Mark told me today that I may have some pretty fierce moodswings happen since things are progressing so rapidly, I worry that I will hurt your feelings." She said as she looked down at her hands that were laying on her small tummy. "As long as you stay here with me, I'll be ok with whatever you throw at me." Lucus said laughing and then he winked at her and hugged her to him again. They both fell asleep again, so comfortable in each others arms. The next morning Lucus woke up with a smile on his face and a warm body still sleeping comfortably next to him. He rolled to his side and just watched her sleep for a little while, he slowly reached his hand over to her belly and was surprised at how much it had grown overnight. "She is going to get huge!" He thought to himself. Liv stirred and then woke up, smiling up at him, she stretched slightly and then felt her belly, gasping she sat up quickly. "What's wrong?" Lucus said in alarm. "I'm huge, oh no I'm huge!" Liv said as she started crying. Lucus couldn't help but chuckle. "What is so damn funny?" Liv yelled at him while she climbed out of bed and went into the bathroom slamming the door. Lucus just sat there in shock, no one has yelled at him in thousands of years, this was going to be a fun ride. He got up and called Mark, he wanted to see if it was going to get any worse. Mark just laughed when Lucus finished telling him what happend. "That was just a warm-up, my friend." Mark said in between gasps for breath, he was laughing so hard. "Well, you aren't going to be in the free and clear on this, you have to see her often as well, just you wait until she turns against you." Lucus said in a huff and then slammed the phone down. ~~~~ I'll update as quickly as I can, I'm a college student and this semester is a tough one.
