4 comments/ 6405 views/ 8 favorites History - Ulisi By: Shyee Welcome to the History story series. These are short stories of characters in different stories I've written. Sometimes they're favorite characters readers want to hear more of so here they are. I hope you enjoy. * * * * * Ulisi was a adventurous child. Each time her tribe moved, she would wander the forest to feel the layout of the land. From a young age the tribe leaders chose her to train as a sharman due to visions Brother Wolf had given them so they allowed her more freedom than any other child. It was during one of those times that the white men attacked her village. She remained hidden until the warriors had killed or driven the enemies out before running back to the village to give aid of those who needed help. That first attack happened when she was twelve summers old. And because of that, she learnt she had to grow up quickly and that was what she did. By the time she had turned sixteen and ready for the age trials, she was mature compared to the others of her age. When the elders took the children along with Ulisi into the forest for their trials. Each child sent in a different direction and told to return to the village the next morning if their paths weren't set for them. The elders told them, by the next moon, if given a path, they would return with something from it and the elders would know if they were given one or not. None of the children knew what path gave what item so there was no way of pretending something, they would be found out. When Ulisi took her path, she just followed her senses until she came upon a clearing. The moon was out in full which shone down to lighten the area as if it were daytime. She felt a belonging there so taking a step inside before sitting down on the ground and closed her eyes to let the calmness flood through her body. Not knowing how long she had sat there, but she felt another presence coming closer to her. Opening her eyes slowly to see a man with wolf furs covering his body with a wolf headdress on top of his head. She felt more relaxed even though she didn't know the warrior, so she didn't make any movements to escape him. He walked closer to her, before sitting down a few feet away from her. "You are not scared, child?" he asked in a rough voice. Giving him a shy little smile. "I don't feel scared. I feel more calm than anything else." He gave her a single nod. "What is your name?" Looking into his eyes to see something different about them before lowering her gaze. "Baby Dee at the moment but that will change once I return to the village." Leaning towards her. "Are you sure your going to be returning to the village, child? What's to stop me from taking you away from your family. No one is around to stop me." Not able to help but look back up with a bright smile across her lips. "Because if I don't return, my brother will find me." He sat back and arched a brow at her. "And who would this warrior be. He wouldn't beable to track me. I'm one with this forest." "So is he. He'd beable to find me." she said with certainty. Shaking his head a little. "You have no brothers, child. You just lied to me." It was her turn to shake her head a little. "He is my brother, he was my sisters warrior before she died. He will always be my brother even though he's not living in the village any more. But I've seen him watch over me while I'm looking for herbs and wandering the forest." Tilting her head a little looking at the man. "So is his brother that left the village. Even though his brother isn't like he use to be. But his brother is my brother as well and so is his woman that's with them, she is my sister." The man seem to think over her words for a long time. "Are you sure that they are on the same side, child?" Baby Deer looked at him and smiled. "I know they are. I can feel them watching over the village while we sleep. I can see the trails they left and seen the animals they bring closer to us for the warriors to hunt. The elders think it's just because we're in a good spot but I know better. But I won't tell anyone about them. They are the village guardians so I wouldn't interfere with how they want to do things." "You do know sometimes secrets will get you into trouble if the elders find out about them and you not telling them." Nodding. "I do but it's not my secret to say." Silence took them again as both enjoyed the peacefulness of the forest. He then moved around to sit beside her but keeping a small distance from her. "Do you know who I am, child?" She stretched her legs out in front of her and lent back with her hands behind her to lean back on them. "Your a friend, a protector, a guardian of the forest and her people." "What is my name?" Tilting her head a little as she turned her gaze to him. "Your Brother Wolf." "Do you know why I'm here with you?" Smiling a little and not breaking her gaze from him. "My path is yours." Giving her a small smile then looking across the clearing and motioning for her to look. As she did, she could see a dark gray wolf stalking towards them. She couldn't take her eyes off the wolf which would soon be hers as she would be the wolfs. "Once you have joined souls, I have a request of you, child." he softly said. Not taking her eyes off the wolf as it started to run towards her. "I will accept the request, Brother Wolf, no matter what it is." Once the wolf was in leaping distance to her. It jumped towards her and she let out a gasp as it entered her body. Bringing her knees up and hugging her chest. She took a few deep breaths with her eyes closed. Watching the wolf pace around in her mind before it settled and curled up to rest. He waited until her breathing was back to normal and then shift to face her properly. She opened her eyes and looked around to see things more clearly than they were before, before turning to face him like they sat when he first spoke to her. "My request pup is when you reach twenty-five summers. I want you to make your wolf sleep. I know you know the herbs to do just that. I need you to age slowly as the humans do. I want you to do this because of our brother, Gray Wolf. It will be one of your childrens children that will give him his mate and I want you to watch over the child until he can claim her as his." She didn't expect something like that to be the request but when it sunk in. She gave a soft nod. "I will do what is requested. How will I know that the child is born?" He sighed a little. "The daughter that will have the child will pass away and both brothers will be there when you leave her. It will be a terrible time but at the same time, you will have your true family with you. But at the same time, I ask you do not reveal yourself until she is ready to take on the wolf. She is to know nothing of her future. I will try to keep her wolf away from her but when she is born her wolf will try to get to her. You can tell her our stories but nothing of the truth of who she is." Giving a soft nod and looking down at the grass in front of her. "A sad but happy time. I will teach her the old ways like I will do with each child before her. I will keep the secret until she is ready. But my wolf is going to be really unhappy with me when she wakes." Wolf chuckled a little. "Your wolf knows what is going on. As long as you allow her to have a good run until that time to sleep comes, she won't be to upset with however long it will take. As well, she will find your true mate once she is awaken so that will ease her." She could feel her wolf happy with that idea which made her smile. "I think she likes that idea." Standing up and holding his hand out to her. "Let's go for a run. I will visit you so we can run together and I will begin your training." Taking his hand to stand up then blushed a little as he began to undress. Turning her back to him slightly and undressed herself. She listened to his words with how to shift into a wolf and soon became lost in the feeling of the shift and landed on the ground on four feet. She shook her fur and looked down at the legs to see the dark gray fur. She looked at him and gave a wolfy grin as they ran into the forest to begin her new path. * * * * * During the years of their friendship, Wolf and Baby Deer became closer and closer. They would curl up together during the evenings after a long run or hunt. But time soon came of her twenty-fifth summer and it was time to let her wolf sleep. During that evening, they hunted and played in the forest before ending up in the cave they shared during her time away from the village. They sat together at the opening of the cave. She was resting her head against his shoulder and just staring out over the forest. "This is our last night together, isn't it?" Slipping his arm around her and softly kissing the top of her head. "It is. I won't see you again until the child is born then the next time it will be when the child receives her wolf." Standing up he lead her back into the cave, mixing the drink that she would be taking for a long time and handing it to her. "It's time." Nodding a little, she took the cup from him and began to drink it slowly but not stopping until it was finished. She felt her wolf fighting the sleep before it moved into the back of her mind and allowing the herbs to take full affect. Once it did, she started to look around quickly, holding her hands out in front of her where she finally felt Wolf taking her hands and leading her over to the fur bedding. "What is wrong with my vision?" He laid her down and laid down beside her. "That is the effects of the herbs. Wolves need sight and without sight they're not predators any more. Your sight has gone back to being human. But once she awakens your sight will return as it was." She rested against his body and nodded a little. "I will keep her asleep until the child is born. I will adjust. Is that why you had me learn the scents of the herbs?" Feeling him nod before he spoke. "That's correct. Over the next few years your sight will go completely. But you will still beable to work as a sharman. You will still have all of the wolf senses except you won't smell like a wolf and you won't beable to see until it's time to waken her. You will age slowly, but once you do your first shift, you will look as you do now." Nodding a little. "As long as I can still work. I will be happy." He lent down and kissed her forehead then both of her eyes before softly kissing her lips. He began to move back but she stopped him by placing a hand on his shoulder and leaning forward to kiss him again. Their kiss began soft and teasing before it turned into one of passion. Letting out a soft growl, he lent back. "If you keep that up, I won't beable to stop myself, little wolf." Blushing a little and hid her face against his chest. Once she had her breathing under control, she let back and traced her fingertips against his lips. "I... I have a request." Taking her hand gently and kissed each of her fingertips. "What is your request?" Watching his lips kiss each of her fingers, she looked back up into his eyes. "This is our last night together. Would you... Instead of it being a sad evening. Could you make it a pleasant one for me?" He felt his wolf stirring with her words and the scents coming from her body. "How would you like me to make it a pleasant one, little wolf?" She could just see his other half stirring underneath the service and her body began to react to it. "Would you... Would you take me.. Take me as a lover would? I know you have better partners out there, but would you take me as one of them just for this night?" His voice turned husky as he let towards her. "Are you sure you want me as your first?" Nodding a little. "It would be an honor for me to have you as my first. It would give me good memories of this sad night of letting my wolf sleep and having to wait until I find my true mate when she wakens." He gave her a soft nod before leaning down and kissing her deeply. She knew what type of wolf he was, never with any single female for to long if it was more than a single night of enjoyment. He knew, she knew it would only be a single night of enjoyment for both of them. He had seen this in his vision and knew he was going to make her scream out his name. Even though, he had ulterior motives of doing this, he wouldn't let her know about that until she found out for herself. The night was filled with passion she never knew was possible. She didn't know how many times she came or he came. He was relentless of his passion and showing her the true meaning of making love. They ended up falling asleep in each others arms a few hours before dawn but once she woke, she was alone with just the aches of their night of passion. She couldn't help but smile with what they had done. At least she didn't feel to bad with putting her wolf to sleep after what he had done to her. It was mid-morning by the time she had left the cave to return to the village. During the daylight, her vision was back to being just human, but the rest of her senses were still as a wolf. He had told her during one of their short breaks that her vision would disappear completely after a few years. So until that time came, she would do everything possible to make sure she had some good memories to think back on. * * * * * A full moon after placing her wolf sleep, she started to feel strange. She closed her eyes to try to figure out what it was then the next moment she had run to the back of her home and began to be sick. A couple of women from her tribe saw her being sick and quickly went to her aid. They helped her back into her home and let her rest. As time continued and each day she was sick. Others started to question what was wrong with their sharman until finally one of the elders came and spoke with her about it. It was during the talk with the elder that both realized what it was. She was with child. The elders questioned her who was the father but she said he was a good man, not of the village. They ended up getting tired of that answer and soon allowed her peace with no more questions. Soon time came when she was screaming out as the birth arrived and when the child took its first breath and cried out, the wolves around the village began to howl. Everyone in the village knew Baby Deer's path was that of the wolf so didn't think to much of it. The village never had any problems with wolves and didn't expect to so now. Even a few wild wolves came into the village and helped the hunters find food as long as they were paid in a share of the meat. Time soon came when the daughter of Baby Dee was five seasons old. Baby Deer lost her sight completely and her eyes had turned opaque to show the full signs of blindness. Her daughter took her into the forest to find herbs needed and became her guide. During one of those outings her daughter squeezed her mothers hand tightly and stepped closer to her. "Mamma. These a really big wolf ahead of us." Baby Deer knelt down and placed her arms around her daughter body. "What color are his eyes?" Knowing Brother Wolf changed his coloring all of the time but his golden eyes always remained the same. The girl stared at the wolf and whispered. "Gold like the sunset." Baby Deer smiled and sat down on the ground and pulled her daughter into her lap to face the wolf and began to tell her stories of Brother Wolf and how he protects the people of his blood which included herself and her daughter and their daughters to come. They sat like that for a long time before the girl relaxed completely even with the wolf slowly coming towards them. Once he was close enough, he bowed his head to the girl and she slowly reached towards him and scratched his cheek a little. The wolf made a murring sound before quickly moving forward and swiping his tongue against the girls cheek and then again against Baby Deer's cheek which made both females laugh. He gave a chuff before darting into the forest and disappearing as Baby Deer continued the stories but not telling the one she really wanted to tell. Of the evening that her wolf was placed to sleep and making love to a man who was her daughters father. That story she promised herself would always remain a secret. * * * * * Over the next few generations, her daughter and daughters daughters would watch as they grew old and she would remain slowly aging. Her bloodline continued to die as she continued to age. Even though the daughters knew the truth of who she was. The men in their lives would know her as their aunt or later in her life as grandmother. A few of the men her daughters picked were ones she would prefer to hunt but she allowed her daughters to do as they wished and always sharing stories of the past. The women knew she was a wolf and had a long life so they did everything possible to aid her whenever they could. After nine generations, her heart broke the worse of seeing her other child pass as she continued to live. Her pregnant daughter and her husband were in a car accident. The doctors gave her a choice. She had to make the choice of loosing both daughter and child she was carried or loosing just her daughter. She made the choice for the doctors to save the child. Afterwards, they bought her daughter back to her room. Then she felt a familiar presence she hadn't had in a long time. Not able to help but smile a little with a small nod. She knew her time was nearly up before allowing her wolf to awaken. She lent down and kissed her daughters temple before placing the sheet up over her face. Picking up her cane she made her way to the door and left quietly before moving across the room where she smelt the wolf and someone darker in the hallway. Stopping a few meters away from them. "Can you tell me what she looks like please? My granddaughter there, Maria-Jane." Asking them with a little hope in her voice they would do that honor for her. When a deep but soft voice answered her question. She couldn't help but smile at his description. She knew then this was Gray Wolf and his brother Mountain Thunder, just as Brother Wolf had promised her. Deciding to be a little sneaky, she told them that she would be rising the child because of her parents dieing. They both offered to aid her if she ever had any problems they could call her for assistance. While her mischievous ways continued she told them a story long ago about the brothers she once knew and could hear their curiosity coming to the surface further, but leaving them hanging of who she really was. Richard and Eric began to call her Ulisi and later introduced her to Dee who use to be Gold Lightening. It was years until they figured out who Ulisi was from the old days but continued to call her Ulisi because of how she looked. As she did with her other daughters, she taught Maria their ways of the past. Told her stories long forgotten which drove Maria to paint the stories on canvas. Time soon came when Maria turned eighteen and Ulisi changed the tea she had always drunk. She could feel her wolf beginning to stir in its slumber. Her eyes never changed color but she started to see things again but it wasn't time yet to let anyone know she could see again. She hadn't learnt how to read English so continued to read braille. Keeping quiet was one of the hardest things she had to do but during the first full moon of Eric claiming Maria, she couldn't help but tell Maria off with the tattoo she had of a wolf. During the early morning when Eric and Maria slept after the hunt and after Maria claimed her wolf. She padded off into the forest to the clearing where she first met Wolf. He was waiting for her. She shifted back to human and smiled to him. "It's good to see you again, Brother." Her features changed to being that of a twenty-five year old, except for her hair which was still a platinum gray. "It's good to see your wolf awaken. It has been to long, Baby Deer." History - Ulisi They walked and spoke for a long time. When they ended back at the camp, he kissed her cheek. "You have raised your daughters well, little wolf." She kissed his cheek back and whispered. "Our daughters." He touched her cheek softly and kissed her forehead. "Our daughters." He would always have a soft spot for the female wolf in front of him. But he would never come between her and her mate who she would find in the next few days. "You will find him when you least expect it, little wolf. And you will be whole very soon." Tilting her head into his hand. "Thank you for giving me the greatest gift possible over those years. I don't think I would have managed without the first." "I know. It was the only gift I could give you for the sacrifice you gave to have Eric and Maria together. But now, rest. I have to find Bear to make sure he is alright." he whispered. She nodded a little. "Take care of him. We'll take care of the cub for him and I'll teach him the old ways like I did with the girls." She couldn't help but grin. "It should be fun looking after a son after so many daughters." He chuckled and nodded. "I know you will be a great influence on him and give him everything he needs to become a man." Giving her a knowing smile which made her raise her brow. He kissed her forehead again before walking back into the forest and disappearing from sight. * * * * * She had always enjoyed when her daughters were young. The fits of giggles they would come out with always made her smile. And now it was time again to have a child in her life, so she couldn't of been happier to offer babysitting for the young bear cub they named Jessie. Sometimes she even went to the point of sneaking away with him so it would give Maria and Eric time alone that they deserved as a newly mated couple. Before they left the reservation, she had already began to teach him the different herbs he would use when he was older. There was no time like the present to begin his teaching. When the time came to leave and having the meeting set up to aid Bear in hunting the vampires that killed the bear shifters, she told the young ones that she would meet up with them after instead of going in straight away. She ended up fixing a large meal for the shifters along with placing bottles of blood out at room temperature for the vampires. That was one thing she never expected to ever do. Cater for vampires. But with Richard and Dee with them, she knew it wouldn't be to hard to change her cupboard and fridge space. Once she was prepared, she headed to down to the meeting room floor and knocked quietly on the door before slipping inside. She took a deep breath as she looked around at the faces at the meeting and capturing their scents so she knew them as she walked over to Maria. But one scent claimed her attention and she looked towards where it was coming from. She felt a blush coming to her cheeks as she stared into the most wonderful eyes she had ever seen before looking down to Maria and whispering to her she would take Jessie to clean him up for dinner. She knew she had to get out of there. All she could think about was to walk over to him and present herself over the desk on her stomach. Her wolf was howling with her mind chanting, 'mine'. She took one last look at the wolf that caught her attention as she picked the cub up. She only just heard Eric introducing her and she gave a quick nod before darting out of the room, feeling her heart pounding in her chest. Wolf's words came back to her, 'You will find him soon.' and she never expected this soon or actually in the meeting. Questions filled her mind and she knew as soon as Maria was away from the meeting she would begin the questioning of who her wolf mate was. As soon as she got Jessie back to her apartment, she gave him something to eat then a bath afterwards straight away. Her mind was flooded with questions and couldn't wait for Maria to get back to her. She let her mind slip thinking about her soon to be mate. She knew he was a wolf but one of those European wolf lines. But she caught the scent of female wolf on him and couldn't help but let out a soft growl. No matter who the female was, she was going to claim her mate and no woman would stand in her way. She so wanted to sent a message to Eric mentally to find out who he was, but she didn't want to interrupt the meeting when it had nothing to do with the problem at hand. She could last a little while longer, she had waited this long for him. By the time Eric had sent her a message that the meeting was finished, she had just put Jessie to bed and began to move the food onto the table for the shifters to help themselves to it. She opened her front door up and moved the door stopper so it remained opened for them to enter, then went back to work. Eric and Maria were first to arrive. Eric remained at the door as Maria went over to her to finish helping. As soon as the other shifters entered, they walked over to the table of food and began to help themselves before moving around the apartment to find a spot to eat. They divided into small groups to talk and catch up while Maria and Ulisi moved to the side so she could begin to question her daughter of the wolf. After twenty questions. Ulisi couldn't help but grin. So her mysterious mate was Thad, the local wolf Alpha. She couldn't help for a better mate. Strong in leadership along with family. She had always known the local pack was a strong pack. The female scent she picked up on him was his daughter so she couldn't be that jealous of her. But it seemed strange how he could have a daughter when she was his true mate, but she didn't dwell on it. She knew some males picked females just to be companions to make their rankings stronger so she guessed that had happened with her mate. As soon as he entered her apartment, her eyes never left him. It seemed like there was no one else in the room except for herself and her mate, even though they hadn't spoken one word to each other. She was glad though, Gabriella had sent his daughter back to the pack compound so she wouldn't interfere with what she wanted to do with him. Her nerves began to increase even more when they split into groups. The women were in the kitchen cleaning up from the meal and the men were out on the balcony talking amongst themselves. She could hear their laughter as Thad walked inside towards the fireplace. She watched him curiously then felt herself gasp when he picked up a log and walked down the hall towards her bedroom. She clutched the tea towel she was holding to her chest and watched him walk back past the women and back out to the men. The women stared at her and started to nudge her to move. She looked out to the balcony and saw Wolf and Eric smiling, both giving her a small nod of approval, then she gave Thad a quick glance and could easily see he looked just as nervous as she was. Maria snapped her out of it when she whispered, "Go get him." With shaking hands, she placed the tea towel down and walked down the hallway. She decided to quickly check on Jessie first before going to her bedroom door. She looked down at the small log and picked it up. She couldn't help but bring it up and sniff at it, letting out a small growl and mouthing the word, 'mine', before going back down and over to the fireplace. Placing the log on the carrier and lighting the single log. Watching it burn before going back to the women. She could hear the men congratulating Thad on his claim and began blushing as the women congratulated her on accepting him. Then hearing from the balcony Eric wanted to take everyone up to his apartment for a celebration, taking Jessie with them and told Thad and Ulisi, they weren't welcomed to the party. Once everyone had left and leaving herself and Thad behind closed doors. They stared at each other before small smiles came across their lips. They never spoke a word to each other, they knew who each other were and no words were needed. They closed the distance before allowing their emotions come out ten fold. Wrapping their bodies around each other and falling to the ground as they kissed. Letting clothes fly in all directions. They only thing they needed was skin on skin contact and allow pure ecstasy happen with the joining of true mates. By the time they had finished, every room in the apartment had been used along with every positions known to man. They had mated in both forms, human and wolf. Both knowing how pleasurable each form was, even though it was Thad's first time with a wolf since his kind was the half man, half wolf type but it was Ulisi's first time with his kind as well. But the pleasure they gave each other, sent them into a frenzy. * * * * * They weren't seen until it was time to go to his home. He had spoken about what the compound was like and how things were done there. But once she stepped out of the car and looked around. She couldn't believe what she saw. It was a lot better than what he described and couldn't help but look over to him and give him a soft smile of approval. She just noticed the looks on his peoples faces as she walked towards him. Nothing really mattered to her except for the wolf in front of her. She slipped her hand into his and followed the vampires inside along with his beta's so he could tell them what was going on. Once the meeting was over and the betas had left and the other ancient vampires arrived. They group spoke how she and Maria would remain to protect the compound with the younger warriors. The younger warriors knew they would be the last line of defense if anyone got past Ulisi and Maria so they were told to stay in position. The ancients also told both wolves how to kill a vampire more quickly and to slow them down. They just needed to slow them down until the warriors arrived to aid them. When the warriors had left, Ulisi and Maria went back inside to sit with the young vampires. Ulisi telling stories while planning silently with Maria so the others wouldn't be afraid with what could happen. The stories went on until the vampires said they had incoming. The youngest of the vampires, Danny, went down to the shelter and passed on the message of incoming vampires and word soon got around to the others. Ulisi and Maria gave Jessie a kiss and a hug for good luck and told everyone to remain inside. They were last lines of defense if the vampires got past them. By the time they had left the house and had stripped. The enemy were standing there. Ulisi told Maria she was to follow. Maria already knew to follow her grandmothers orders. She had a lot more experience behind her so would do as she was told. When the attack began both wolves went dire wolf and attacked without mercy. To begin with they only attacked to protect their family, Richard, Dee and Jessie. But it was made clear a few moments later that the wolves inside them counted the families of the compound as their family as well. They had to protect all of the wolves in the compound or would die trying. It was quickly clear with the added of the other families there, the fight was quick until it was just the leader of the enemy left to kill. What neither wolf noticed until the vampire laughed was he had inside help. When Carrie came out with Jessie in her arms. Maria turned around and began to back up as Ulisi moved forward. Ulisi told Maria mentally that she was to keep her sights on Carrie as she would do on Andre. Maria only argued for a moment until Ulisi told her, Jessie was more important than anything. If she couldn't take down the enemy then Maria would have to finish the task. When they got about half way towards Andre, Carrie let out a scream. Ulisi wanted to turn around but she didn't want to take her eyes off the real enemy, trusting Maria to do what was needed behind her. The next moment she heard Maria cry in her mind. 'Richard has Jessie. Kill the bastard!" And that was what Ulisi did. The attack was quick and brutal. Not letting anything distract her. The bastard had ruined the lives of so many people and she wasn't going to let him do that again. During one of the breaks in her attacks, she noticed Maria had dragged Carrie near the house and was sitting on top of her and slowly she saw people surrounding the fight but not interfering on it. But knowing support was there didn't break her thoughts of the fight. The vampire had to be taken down and killed so he couldn't do it to anyone else. Her thoughts were of blood and when he made the vital error of trying to run from her, she grabbed his leg and yanked him back. Pouncing him, pressing her claws against his chest and letting him feel the sharpness to them. Snarling and letting him see the true nature of the dire in her eyes. She let him see he was about to die. A soft voice started to clear its way through the fog of the hunt then a soft touch which she knew was her mates. His voice began to clear the hunt from her mind and she looked to her mate but keeping her paw firmly against the vampires chest so he knew he couldn't move. As soon as Bear arrived at her side, she moved off the vampire and walked with her mate over to Maria and sat down next to him then watched the final blow to the enemy. With soft pets, she pushed her head against Thad's chest and soaked his scent up to clear her mind fully. In a soft voice, he gave orders to his betas to place his daughter under arrest and take her away until her trial. Once she was calm enough she shifted back to human. Maria stood beside her and handed her, her clothes and quickly dressed. Thad lead her inside his home and took her to bed so both of them could reassure their wolves and make their bond stronger now the fight was over. They weren't seen again for three days. The only way anyone knew they were still alive was when trays of food were left at their door and when they were collected the food was gone. When they finally came out of their room. The trail for Carrie was set. Thad wanted to have her killed but the Elders decided to take Ulisi's advice by giving her a second chance. Over the month of Carrie's second chance, he watched his daughter grow as a person, something he never thought was possible. He could even see the respect his daughter was giving Ulisi when his mate began teaching Carrie the old ways of medicine between her training with the pups. Over the months of Ulisi shifting into the compound, she had given his wolves something more to what they use to be like. Everyone loved his mate as if she had always been there. Even Eric and Richard had began showing up to train with his warriors, teaching them different ways of combat to make them more dangerous against any enemy that might come to hurt anyone linked with the city they called home. They had even become closer to the vampires of the city along with the other spiritweres of the country. The elders of the eagles, cougars and coyotes visited along with Gabriella and Nikolai to speak to all of the spirits of allowing their warriors to join the council enforcers if any wished to try, which was something new because of how private they usually were. During one of Ulisi's trips to the city to visit Maria, she stopped to visit one of the doctors who specialized in Others instead of just humans. Ulisi knew something was wrong with her and had only felt that way once in all of her life. Instead of waiting around for another month or two to get her own thoughts clarified, she went to see the doctor for answers. When he announced she was correct in her thoughts, she couldn't help but grin. She rubbed her hand lightly over her stomach as happiness filled her thoughts. She couldn't wait to have this child, she had loved when her first daughter was born. She had loved the pregnancy and now she could have that feeling again. She started driving back to the compound, she couldn't wait to tell Thad the news. She knew he would be happy. When she got back to the compound, she found Thad with Eric and Richard, training with the warriors. She knew better than to drag him away and quickly pulled him aside and told him she needed to talk to him after the training was completed. Then she headed back to their home to wait for him. As time went on waiting, she began to become inpatient. She paced back and forth waiting for him then Wolf appeared at the side of the room with a small sly smile across his lips. "Congratulations, little wolf." She went over to him and gave him a hug. "Thank you Wolf, for everything." He hugged her back and took a small step back. "I didn't do anything. This is all you." "If it wasn't for our daughter, I wouldn't be here now to have another one. I don't think I would have survived without our daughters." She counted. Stepping back towards her and resting his forehead against hers. "That makes two of us then. I will always watch over my children. This is your first of many to come. In the future, I might have another request for you. It won't be as hard as my first was." Leaning back she looked up to him. "You know I'd do anything you ask." Giving a slight nod. "I know you would. I wouldn't ask anyone else but you to take on this task. I just have to figure out what the visions mean first because they don't make any sense at the moment. So it might be a while until I make the full request." Softly smiling. "When they do make sense I'll be here." Placing a soft kiss on her forehead. "I know you will be. For now though, congratulations. I won't tell anyone until you speak first." Winking at her before stepping back and disappearing once more. She couldn't help but smile. Wolf would always hold a special place in her heart of the past they shared. She would always hold him and Thad deep in her heart. Then she started pacing again, what would he need of her? And what could have him confused with the visions he sees, usually nothing could confuse him in trying to understand what he sees in them. More questions began until she heard footsteps coming towards the house. She knew who they belonged to so quickly grabbing the book she began reading days beforehand and sat down on one of the chairs to look relaxed as Thad entered their home. She didn't look up to him as he asked to go for a run with him. Smiling to herself when she said no to him. She never usually said no to anything he asked her to do. They then began a single word argument which she tried her best not to grin at but when he got to the point of anger, she asked him one single question to why a female wolf wouldn't shift, as she stood up and took a step towards him as he rambled the answers. As he got to the right answer, she just grinned at him. He rushed towards her and fell to his knees, holding her hips in front of her. She ran her fingers lightly through his hair as he kissed her stomach. He let out a long howl, letting the other wolves of the compound know that they were expecting a child and she couldn't stop the tears after that. Five months later, Ulisi and Thad were in bed. He was resting against the headboard and she was laying between his legs and resting against his chest. In her arms in a little bundle was their daughter they named Bethany. The baby girl looked like her first daughter from all those years ago but she had his eyes. The doctor allowed visitors in a while later and Wolf, Eric and Maria were first to meet the new addition to their pack. They spoke and cooed over the baby as Maria and Eric held Bethany. Ulisi looked up to Wolf and watched him curiously. "Is something wrong?" He blinked a few times. "I'll be back in a moment." Then disappeared. Eric shook his head a little. "He's been doing that a lot lately. I'm not sure what's going on with him." Ulisi nodded. "It's been longer than that. I don't think he understands fully of what's going on that's calling him." History - Ulisi Eric gave her a look to continue on but she just shook her head. It was Wolf's place to speak more if he wanted anyone else to know. Maria had given Ulisi back Bethany when Wolf had returned. In his arms asleep was a small white wolf spirit. Ulisi looked up to him. "I'm sorry she didn't make it." Wolf smiled a little. "It's fine. I'll make sure she grows into a strong wolf spirit when her human is ready to accept her." Thad looked at him with questions but wasn't game enough to ask. Wolf just chuckled. "Where do you think I get the spirit wolves from? They are born wolves but they die. Some are from old lines of wolves like this one. This one was reborn as a pup but the body wasn't strong enough to survive." As he spoke both the baby and pup began to stir. Ulisi began to rock Bethany in her arms and Wolf began to gently stroke the pup in his arms. Both baby and wolf began to stir even more and began to cry and whine, not allowing anything to calm them down. With a soft hum, Wolf looked at the pup then to the baby. Ulisi looked up when she heard the hum, then looked at her daughter then over to the pup. "Do you think...?" Wolf shrugged a little. "It is up to you. Do you want to have it done?" "Is she one of yours when he becomes of age?" Wolf lent forward to take in the baby's scent, then nodded. "She will be." Thad just sat back with an arched brow. "What does this mean in English?" Ulisi moved to the side and looked up to her mate. "It means that Bethany will follow my path of the wolf when she gets older. Not all of my line has followed the path even though my blood runs through their veins From the first of mine only Maria followed the wolf." Maria looked at the wolf then to the baby. "Wolf, are you going to do what Bear did with Jessie?" Wolf sat down on the bed and faced Ulisi and Thad. The closer he got to their daughter, the quieter the pup became along with the baby. "It seems both have chosen each other. So it will be up to Ulisi and Thad if they want her shifting so early." Thad could feel Ulisi's decision already made so it would be up to him. He looked between his daughter and the pup before looking up to Wolf. "She would be like Jessie, being able to move around earlier than a normal child and be quicker to pick up things than other children their age?" Wolf nodded. "Her mind will grow and only beable to do those things in wolf form. And her wolf will remain the same size until her human size grows." Kissing his mates temple then gave a soft nod. "I'm for that then. As long as she knows as a wolf not to wander around alone as a wolf without one of us near her." Thad said. "All you have to do is tell her. Mentally, she will grow quickly with learning. It will just be her physical body that will be slow with normal growth. Her wolf will understand what you tell her." Thad just nodded. "Do what is needed then, let them grow together." He could feel Ulisi's pleasure as she snuggled against him more. He knew he made the right decision. Wolf nodded and gave the pup a soft kiss on the top of its head so it would stir awake. "Go on and do what we all know you want to do." He said with a grin. The wolf pup yipped before climbing down onto the bed. It went to the foot of the bed as Ulisi opened the blanket around her daughter and shifted her facing the pup. The pup crouched down and wriggled its bottom in the air and made a run for the baby and pounced and disappeared into the human baby. Bethany woke and squirmed around a little as Ulisi settled her back in her arms. Bethany looked up to her and Thad and blinked a few times as the wolf showed in her eyes before settling once more. Wolf stood up once the joining completed. "I didn't know this was going to happen. So please don't think I bought her here to do it." Ulisi just smiled. "I know, you wouldn't do that to us." He moved up and softly kissed the baby's forehead then did the same to Ulisi then to Thad to give them a silent blessing. Even though Thad squirmed from the kiss. He went over and did the same to Maria and to Eric before saying his goodbyes and disappearing. * * * * * Just like Jessie, over the months Bethany grew stronger much faster as any other child. The human side and the wolf side both worked together and because of her wolf side, she grew strong faster than it was thought possible. But Ulisi and Thad couldn't of been happier with their daughters progress. And they wouldn't of had it any other way.
