By: AshiraDatya Thanks everyone for your patience and support these past few months; it's been difficult, but things are looking up and I've finally been in a mindset to write again. I hope you enjoy the end of Rogue and Griffin's story and like the end result. All comments are welcome, however, please be constructive and if you ask a question, or imply that you'd like a reply, please leave an email or username or email me directly. Thanks, Ashira! * "Why won't they let me in?" Griffin growled, pacing back and forth in the hallway. "When Beth had her C-section, there was very little time, she was bleeding to death and the local pain medication Dr. Lewis had given her, did very little to help with the pain. I almost got sent out of the room. Trust me, you don't want to be in there," Cole told Griffin. "I should be in there," Griffin protested. "It's going to be fine," Beth murmured, sharing a look with Cole. "She's bleeding," Griffin said suddenly, heading towards the bedroom. Cole and Xavier held him back. "Grif, a C-section means they have to cut into Rogue's abdomen, of course she's bleeding. Everything will be fine," Xavier said gently. He glanced at his mate who murmured something under her breath. "What the hell did you just do?" Griffin wanted to know. "Just a small spell to calm you down," Raven answered. Cole and Xavier forced Griffin down into a chair. "Don't move until we remove the spell," she added. "Or it wears off, which should happen in about a half hour." "Damn it!" Griffin seethed. "Try to relax," Beth suggested. Before Griffin could say another word, Maura stepped into the hallway and was instantly flanked by Cole, Charles and Griffin, who was being held in place by Xavier and Parker; Parker glanced at Beth who nodded and Parker released Griffin from the spell. "Rogue's fine. Her blood pressure is back to normal and she's being cleaned up now. Everything went great," Maura said quietly, before anyone could ask. "And the baby?" Griffin asked. "He's perfect," Maura answered. "He?" Griffin repeated. "He," Maura confirmed. "When Doctor Lewis comes out, you can go in," she added. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I'm glad your sister's okay," Parker said quietly when he and Sydney left the compound. "Me too. And Perry is soo cute," Sydney murmured, her eyes sparkled with delight at the thought of her newest nephew. Parker stopped short at the look on her face and swallowed. "You don't want kids now do you?" he asked nervously. Sydney shook her head with a light laugh. "Some day, yes. Any time soon, no," she assured him, laughed when Parker breathed a sigh of relief. "What about you?" Sydney asked. "I'd love to have kids someday, but I'm not ready," Parker answered. "So, how much trouble are we going to have to go through to fight this potential mate?" he asked. "A lot," Sydney admitted. "Syd, I don't want you to be exiled," Parker began. "Don't worry about that now," Sydney murmured. "Syd," Parker tried again but Sydney shook her head, waving him off. "My dad will be more reasonable after the whole thing with Rogue and Griffin," Sydney said. "I love you," Parker said finally. Sydney smiled and hugged him. "I love you too," she murmured. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rogue looked up with a smile as Griffin set a tray full of food on the bed side table. "Thanks," she said softly. "I figured you'd be hungry and apparently, your mom knew you'd be hungry and had this ready for when I went down stairs. How long has Perry been asleep for?" Griffin asked. He stole a french fry off of the plate. "About twenty minutes," Rogue answered, reached over, grabbed the Barbecue Beef Sandwich off of the plate and took a large bite. "Oh man, mom outdid herself," Rogue moaned. Griffin laughed and stole another fry. "Stop stealing my food," Rogue warned. "Or what?" Griffin challenged. "You were told by Dr. Lewis and by Maura that you were not to do anything strenuous," he added. "I'll sick my brothers on you," Rogue threatened. Griffin laughed and shrugged. "I'm not scared of your brothers Rogue," he reminded her. "You should be, we can and will hurt you if you hurt Rogue again," Cole said from the doorway. Rogue giggled and took another bite of her sandwich. "Don't you have a wife and kids to get home?" Griffin all but growled. Cole laughed loudly, walked into the room and kissed Rogue on the top of the head. "We're taking off for the night. Mom and Dad are keeping the kids for tonight. Dad wanted to send them home, but mom wanted them close, and you know how that battle turned out," Cole answered. Rogue grinned and nodded. "Get some rest sis, you're going to need it," he added before leaving the room. Rogue groaned when Perry began crying loudly and winced as she tried to push herself out of bed. "Go back to sleep, I've got him," Griffin said, sliding out of the bed. He walked up to the cradle and picked his son up carefully. After changing Perry's diaper, Griffin lay Perry in the cradle long enough to make a bottle, scooped the baby back up and stuck the nipple in Perry's mouth as he made his way to the rocking chair. "I thought I heard crying," Marie said softly from the doorway. "He was wet and hungry," Griffin told his mother. "You look like a natural," Marie murmured. "What's wrong Griffin? You should be happy," she added. "I am happy, but I can't help but remember the last time I'd been close to someone giving birth," Griffin answered. "You're talking about Tara," Marie said. Griffin nodded. "I'm sorry your sister wasn't able to survive giving birth, Grif. She was a beautiful young woman and Xavier loved her very much. I would have been just as thrilled to see their child as I was to see Perry this evening, and the quads," Marie told Griffin. "Tara would not want you feeling sorry for yourself and what you lost, not tonight of all nights. She would want you to be happy and thankful for what you have; a beautiful wife and a handsome young son," Marie added. Griffin smiled and nodded, knowing that Marie was right. "I miss her," Griffin said. "And so does Xavier, I'm sure. You never forget your first love, even if you fall in love with another. She's with you, in your heart and in Perry," Marie told her son. Griffin smiled, nodded and glanced at his tiny son who was now sound asleep in his arms. "I'll let you get back to Perry and then back to Rogue and to sleep," Marie added. "G'night Marie," Griffin said as he watched his mother leave the nursery. Griffin pushed himself out of the chair and propped Perry against his shoulder, burping him as he walked back to the cradle, placed Perry in the center of it and returned to bed where he pulled Rogue gently to him and fell back to sleep. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Sydney, Parker, sit down," Dominic said, holding open the door to his office. "Dad, before you say something, I need to get this off my chest," Sydney began. Dominic tensed but nodded. "I love Parker, and I know mom said you guys found a mate for me, but I refuse to be with anyone besides Parker," Sydney told her father. It was Marie's turn to bristle and she stood up from her seat. "How dare you tell your father and I what you will or will not do! You are our daughter and we are your Alphas! We tell you what to do and you obey or accept the consequences!" Marie exclaimed. "Mom, you and dad worked something out when Xavier mated with Raven without permission and you allowed Griffin and Rogue's marriage to stand, why is my happiness less important?" Sydney challenged. "Syd," Parker scolded softly, reached for her hand and squeezed it. "Your happiness is no less important to me than your brothers' or sisters', however, that being said, you do not make the rules," Marie answered. "Marie, it's alright," Dominic said quietly. "Sydney, your mother was right, I had found someone I wanted you to mate with, but, after what your mother told me and my observations tonight, I'm going to allow you to choose your own mate, just promise me one thing," Dominic gave his daughter what could only be described as a look of fatherly love. "What's that?" Sydney asked, glancing at Parker. "Wait a while before having children, please. I have enough grandchildren to spoil at the moment," Dominic pleaded. Sydney laughed and hugged her father tightly. "I love you daddy," Sydney murmured. "I love you too Syd." Dominic released his daughter and stood face to face with Parker. "If you hurt my daughter, I will kill you," he threatened. "I'd rather kill myself then hurt her," Parker promised. "Good. Get out of here both of you, and let me know what date you've come up with for a wedding," Dominic instructed. "Wow, I can't believe that," Parker said, the shock evident in his voice. "I know," Sydney's voice was quiet, but excited. She squealed loudly, lunged at him and hugged Parker tightly. "When do you want to get married?" Sydney asked, her eyes danced in the light of the setting sun. "How soon can you arrange a wedding?" Parker countered. "A wedding?" a voice echoed into the darkness. "You scared the shit out me Charles!" Sydney exclaimed as her brother and Maura walked over to them. "Dad gave Parker and I permission to marry," Sydney added. "Please tell me you're not pregnant," Charles pleaded. "I'm not pregnant," Sydney said with a laugh. "Are you going to turn?" Charles asked Parker. "I haven't thought that far, but if it won't affect my abilities as a Magik, I don't see why not," Parker answered. Charles looked at Maura and whispered something in her ear, she smiled and nodded with a shrug. "How about a double ceremony?" Charles suggested. Sydney looked at Parker who nodded and Sydney turned back with a smile. "When and where?" Sydney asked. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EPILOGUE "Two more of our children have mated and soon, we'll have more grandchildren to spoil," Marie mused while she danced with Dominic at the wedding reception. Dominic sighed and growled. "They're happy Dom, I think you made a good choice letting Sydney and Parker choose themselves," Marie added. "The pack is changing. I just hope that all of the problems Beth and Raven brought to the pack with the crazy Magiks is at an end," Dominic said. "Our sons all have good mates and so do our daughters." Marie giggled like a young woman when Dominic dipped her low then pulled her close to him. "I think Rachel might be next. Look at how she's looking at Justin over there," Marie murmured. Dominic growled and nipped at Marie's neck. "She's seventeen," he reminded his mate. "She's almost eighteen," Marie said with a laugh. She gave one last look to her children, then gave her husband a smoldering look, one that he returned and they both hurried out of the party.
