They'd lost their parents months earlier, and all three of her brothers decided they would become her guardians. She could not breathe because of them. If it wasn't for their wives, they would have forced her to join a convent, if it were possible. Here she was 522 years old, and she wasn't allowed to date. The only guy her brothers approved of was her friend, Thomas. True be told, Cantar liked Thomas, but he was not interested in her in that way. After learning about her mother, she vowed to never allow herself to obsess over any man. So as much as she liked him, he didn't like her, therefore she'd move on with her life. Her vampire family had merged and become close friend with a wolf pack in Texas, the Loess pack. She had a new best friend, a pack member named Kyra. Kyra was also in her early twenties and the two them became fast friends when the pack gave her sister, Shari, and her brother, Garrick, a surprise baby shower. The two girls worked together on decorations and realized they had quite a bit in common. Cantar had many other friends, but Kyra was different from them. She didn't put on airs, and was simply down to earth. She didn't treat her as if she was a wealthy socialite who was used to getting her way. She could often talk to Kyra when she needed to confide in someone. She even told her how she really felt about Thomas, and her friend advised her to take her time. So, the two of them spent a lot of time together. If she was not with Kyra, she'd spend time with her sisters-, and their children. Brenwan was having her first child and due in a few weeks; Nicolette, Gernick's wife, was expecting their second child, a little girl, in a couple of months. Her nephew, Jonathan was turning two, and she and Kyra were planning a big birthday party for him, Theo, and Nickie. Shari, had a beautiful eight month old little girl named Ava. Cantar loved her family, but she wished her brothers would back off. She had a date tonight with a guy she'd met a week earlier in a trip to the movies with Malcolm and Kyra. Malcolm and Kyra had mated recently and were now living in an apartment near the college they attended. Cantar thought that Kyra was so lucky; she only had one brother and he was not a pest. If her brothers knew she had a date, they'd be all over him. Matt the guy she had a date with was a really nice guy, and they had quite a bit in common. He was safe, and human. So she wasn't afraid of him hurting her. Matt was finishing his degree, and was not over his girlfriend, Gina. Cantar didn't mind, she knew what it meant to be hung up on someone. "So, you have a date tonight. Anyone we know?" Brenwan asked as the four women lounged at Nicolette and Gernick's home. "No, he's Malcolm's friend. I went to the movies with the three of them last week, and he asked me out tonight. It's not a big deal. Just fun." She answered. "Yes it is a big deal. You're out there looking, and we want to help." Shari piped in. "Ok, help me by getting your husbands, my brothers to back off. I cannot even look at a guy without them scaring him off. I'm 522 not 2 years old." She vented. The women laughed. Shari hugged her kid sister, "Come on, it is not that bad. They worry, that's all." She explained. Cantar scoffed, "Really, last week, I went to Beale Street for a concert by a local band, and before I could even enter the club, Kale shows up giving directions to the bouncer. Brenwan, you need to do something to keep him busy. And Nicky, I love your home in Nashville. It is so nice and spacious. I'm so grateful that you're letting me stay there, because if I was any closer to Gernick, he'd have me on lock down. Last week, I invited Kyra, Malcolm, and some of my other friends to visit for the weekend. Guess who shows up as my friends arrive to vet them? My big brother, your husband, Gernick and he had Thomas with him. He insisted that Thomas join us because it would be so nice for all of my friends to catch up," She huffed. Nicolette wanted to defend her husband, but Cantar was right. Then she faced Shari, "Garrick is the worse. He hired body guards for me. I know because they shadow me. Shari, I know you all think I'm whining, but this is so unfair. They want me to be with Thomas, but he does not want me. I can accept that, but they need to let me live." Nicky nodded. "You're right. Ladies, we need to check our men." They agreed and as they talked Jonathan ran in. "Auntie Can, Auntie Can," he chanted and leaped into her arms. He covered her with kisses, and told her he loved her repeatedly. Cantar loved her nephew and spoiled him rotten. "I love you to Jon Jon. I'm talking with Mommy right now; we can play later, ok." She promised. Petra came in carrying her niece Ava, and Cantar showered her with love also. Jonathan asked his Mom if could he go see Theo. "No, not today, Jonathan. We are staying home." Nicky explained. Jonathan was determined, "Auntie Can, take me to Theo?" he turned to Cantar sweetly. Nicky shook her head, No. And she had to refuse. Cantar picked up her nephew and told him, "Sometimes you and mommy need to stay home, OK. And Theo needs time with his Mommy. Spend time with Mommy today, OK." Jonathan worshipped his aunt, and so he smiled and agreed. She kissed his forehead and hugged him close. Ava wanted hugs to and began to fret, and so Cantar put Jonathan down and ruffled his dark hair as she also showered kisses on her niece. "OK, Cantar, we will try to rein in our husbands. If all else fails, we can call Nina and Elise. I'm sure we will find a way to curb their excesses. So, about this guy, Matt, you like him?" Nicky asked. Brenwan and Shari were both listening intently. Cantar had become a bit of a recluse since the death of her parents. The only guy she dated at all was Thomas, and her brothers hand-picked him. Cantar smiled; she liked Matt, but she would not lead them to think it was more than friendship. "He's a great guy. I had fun with him, and I'm hoping we have a good time this weekend. But, no he's just a friend. He's in love with someone else and I can understand that. I'm staying with Kyra and Malcolm for the weekend. He offered to get me stay at his place, but I don't think that is a good idea." She explained. Her three sisters smiled. Cantar had come so far since last year. She was always an enigma to them. The only one that interacted with her was Brenwan, and she was not surprised to see her blossom. Brenwan also understood Kale's need to protect her. He and his brothers felt as if they failed their sister. Her mother almost killed her and they blamed themselves. The men protected their wives, but had no idea how depraved their mother had become. Her attack on their sister was the catalyst that led to her death. As the women talked, Gernick stopped by to check on his wife. He greeted each of his sisters, hugged his sister, and kissed his wife, as he caressed his daughter,Hey, Janine, how are you sweetheart? Gernick was happy to feel warmth from his daughter. She is fine. Her brother is being rambunctious. Nickie sent. Gernick laughed and focused on his kid sister. "Cantar, you're visiting. I'm happy to have you here." "Yes, Big Brother, I wanted to check in. I'll be heading out in a bit." She explained. "No, stay for a few days. You know if you don't like living there by yourself, you can come back here." Gernick insisted. Cantar looked at Nicky, her eyes pleading for her to intervene, "Gernick, no. With the new baby, Cantar will need to rest. You know how demanding it will be, especially with momma coming to stay." "Right, and I am not babysitting. I'll stay in the role of cool auntie, but that's it." Cantar chimed in. Gernick narrowed his eyes, Love, you are up to something. I will figure this out. Kale, Garrick, Cantar popped in and she is up to something. We need to watch her closely. he sent to his brothers. I'll increase security. Let me call my team.Garrick replied. Gernick, Garrick, she is an adult. Maybe we should back off. Kale suggested. You two meet me in my office. We need to talk. Gernick then looked at his angry wife. He could tell from her expression that she knew what he was up to. "Nicolette, love, you don't need to be-" Cantar interrupted. "Gernick, I love you, but you guys have to let me live my life." Cantar asserted. "I am over five centuries old, but you three refuse to let me do anything." "Cantar we are your brothers. It's our jobs to protect you." Gernick argued. "As soon as you and Thomas marry, we'll back off." "Gernick," she said exasperated, "Thomas doesn't want me. He's my friend. You cannot decide whom I marry." She argued. "Cantar, listen-," Gernick demanded. Nicolette had heard enough. "No, love. You are taking this too far. Your sister is right. You and the other two need to back off." "Yes, Gernick, Nicky's right. Brenwan and I agree." Shari told her irate brother. Gernick knew he was out numbered, so he backed off. "OK, Cantar, you are right. I apologize. Love, I've got to get back. I'll be home early." He kissed Nicky. Then he vanished back to his office. Kale, Garrick, showed up next. "The women have decided to support Cantar's bid for independence. This is bigger than we thought." Gernick took a breath. "I think she plans to go out with a male." "Wait, is Thomas aware of this?" Garrick asked. The three brothers met one day and decided that they would all be responsible for protecting Cantar until she married. No men were good enough for her sister, but Thomas Macavi was close enough. "She said Thomas is not interested in her?" Gernick explained." "I'll pay him a visit. Do we have an idea on any other suitable males?" Kale asked. "No, but I have an idea." Gernick called his assistant. "Ms. Marsh, I'll be out for the rest of the day. Cancel my appointments, and if my wife calls tell her I'm in a meeting and asked not to be disturbed." She nodded and returned to her desk. "OK, I'm going to see our cousin. As a council member, maybe he can recommend some suitable males." Gernick explained. Each man went quickly to their destination. The women were silent and Brenwan spoke. "Cantar, go to your friends, and enjoy your date tonight. We'll deal with your brothers." Cantar hugged each of her sisters, and vanished to her friend's apartment where Kyra and Malcolm were waiting for her. ***** Brenwan dialed a number. Nicky and Shari wondered who she was calling. "Hello Brenwan, what a nice surprise. To what do I owe this call?" Krill answered. "Krill, we need your help. Our men have decided to run Cantar's life. We were hoping you could talk them down." Brenwan suggested. Krill listened and he understood to a degree, but for now he agreed with his cousins. Esmeralda hurt a lot of people, and some would want revenge. Cantar was vulnerable. If some male attached himself to her to exact his revenge, her brothers would not be able to protect her. "Brenwan, I will talk with your husband and his brothers, but they have a legitimate concern." Krill explained. Brenwan listened, and then asked him to hold on, switched over to speaker. "Krill, Shari and Nicolette are here. What are you not telling us?" she demanded. Krill exhaled, "Brenwan, Ladies, nothing is going on that the council is not aware of." He lied. The council had been made aware of threats against Cantar, as retaliation for those Esmeralda hurt. Nicolette listened, and read between the lines. Krill was not telling them everything. "Krill, can you tell us what the council is aware of?" she asked. Krill chuckled, "Ah, Nicolette, I forgot how astute you are. Cantar is safe. I assure you as a council member. Now as for her brothers, aren't brothers notoriously overprotective anyway?" he joked. "I'm sure they are and thank you Krill. If you will at least talk to them it might help." Shari added and then they hang up the phone. "They are hiding something. I don't like this. Do you think Cantar is aware?" Shari asked. "I don't know. She has always been secretive. If she were aware of danger, she might not say anything." Brenwan added. She felt a sharp pain, and rubbed her back. Both Nicky and Shari were aware of her actions. They did not say anything, but if it occurred again, they were taking her to the compound and calling Kale. "My distrust of her did not make it any easier. She did everything her mother told her too." Nicky exhaled. "I know she was young and when she realized what her mother was really up to she was instrumental in stopping her. Her actions saved me and my husband. She is not alone, and we need to help her to know that." Shari nodded, as Brenwan grunted and shifted in her seat. "Bren, are you alright?" Shari asked. Brenwan smiled, "Yes, I'm fine. My back aches a bit, that's all. Kalen is anxious to get here." She explained. Shari smiled. "Kalen, I love that name. Have you unpacked all of your gifts yet?" She asked the wolves had a baby shower for Kale and Brenwan a few weeks earlier. Everyone was ecstatic. The celebration became even more boisterous, when Kyra and Malcolm announced their mating to the entire group. Everyone was elated. Amerie was speechless, because she always saw Kyra as her baby. The vampire brothers were happy for the young wolf couple and congratulated them. Kale refused to leave his wife's side. He was on high alert, and the women knew he was only at work because Brenwan said she'd be with them today. The women talked a bit more when Brenwan showed additional signs of distress. Shari spoke, "That's it. We're going to the compound." Nicky agreed, and within minutes all three women appeared at the medical center. Kim was spending time with her mate Manson when she got the call that the vampires were there. She rushed over and the women explained what was going on. She examined Brenwan and admitted her immediately. "Brenwan, call your husband. He might want to be here to meet his son." She explained. "Wait, I had two weeks left," Brenwan asked, worried. If the baby was early, was he going to be alright? "Brenwan, Kalen is fine. He has just decided to come early, like his cousin Ava." She smiled and Brenwan relaxed. "Call your husband." Kale, come to the compound. It's time. She sent. "Brenwan is having the baby. I have to go." Kale told his brothers as he vanished to be with his wife. Garrick and Gernick were about to follow when Krill appeared. "Garrick, Gernick, what is going on with Cantar? Has someone approached her?" he asked. "I was about to come see you Krill. She has decided she wants to date. I don't trust the men she finds herself around. We approve of Thomas, but she informed us that he is not interested in her. Do you know of any suitable males?" Gernick asked. Krill listened and then decided they deserved the truth. "You may not be aware of this, but Cantar has a bounty on her head. The council was made aware of this threat hours ago. A factious group feels that Esmeralda's death was not sufficient punishment, so they plan to abduct your sister." Krill exhaled. "Who? Where?" Garrick demanded. Gernick was instantly angry. His sister had suffered enough, and no one would get close enough to hurt her again. "How many?" Gernick demanded. "Gernick, you don't frighten me. I care about her as much as you do and as soon as we find the source it will be eliminated." He vowed. "We need to get to the medical center." Gernick stated. Brenwan was giving birth and they wanted to be there for her and Kale. "Krill, are you coming?" Gernick asked. "No, I'll report back to..." Garrick interrupted. "You know Javon and Elise would love to see you. Come on." Nicky alerted Cantar about the baby, and she arrived shortly after the other women. Kyra was with her. Malcolm stayed home. Cantar called Matt and told him she had to run out of town but she should be back for their date. Could they set it for later? ***** Everyone arrived at the medical center, and before long Kalen Ivanov appeared and was welcomed by his anxious family. Elise did not come to the medical center because she was at home with her three new pups. She and Javon welcomed their sons and new daughter a month earlier. The entire pack was elated. Soon the family was allowed in the room and everyone was in awed of the new edition to the family. Kale held his son and simply cried. He never thought he'd have a child and to hold his son. He was speechless. Garrick watched his brother and knew how he felt. Their mother poisoned both of their wives to sterilize them. They were able to find an antidote and reverse the damage she caused. The wolves congratulated the new parents and soon, everyone left leaving Kale and Brenwan alone with their son. "Let me hold him" Brenwan told her spouse. Kale lifted his son from his bassinet and gently placed him in her arms. Alone with her husband, Brenwan shed her tears unashamed as she gazed at her son. Then she said something that made Kale freeze. "Something is going on Kale. I called Krill and he... Protect Cantar." Cantar went to Nina's home with Kyra and they played with her two year old brother Theo. Cantar enjoyed visiting, but soon she felt the need to move on. It wasn't that the wolves did not welcome her. They did, but deep down they were Gernick and Nicolette's family. So soon after they visited, she and Kyra went back to her apartment. "Cantar, what's wrong?" Kyra asked. She sensed that her mood had shifted. "Nothing, I'm happy for my brothers. They need to let me have a life though." She joked. Kyra laughed, "Forget it. Brothers can do any and everything they want, but their sister, especially if she's younger cannot do anything fun. BJ used to drive me insane." Cantar sighed, "Well you only have one brother. I have three and not to mention a cousin." "Well tonight, you're going out with Matt. They don't know. You need to have fun." Kyra reminded her. Cantar laughed and then went to dress for their date. Soon Cantar was dressed, and Matt arrived to pick her up. This was not a real date, so they both dressed casually. They went to a local bar, and after they arrived, Cantar felt as if she was being watched. She looked around and saw her usual guards at their post. But the censor did not come from them. "Hey, are you alright? We can go home. I know your nephew was just born and you might want to call your family." Matt explained. "Matt, I'm fine. I'll go visit tomorrow." Cantar explained. He sat at the bar watching her. He could not grab her today, because her brothers had too many guards around. As soon as he could catch her alone, she was going with him. Esmeralda took everything from him, and her death did nothing to lessen his pain. Her family issued a decree that anyone that she hurt could seek retribution through an organization they set up. Most took advantage, and were paid off. No amount of money would replace what she'd taken from his family. So for the Ivanov brother's to feel what he lost he'd take the one they held close. Esmeralda took his only sister, and now he'd take theirs. "Christophe, we should rethink this I am angry too, but Gernick will kill us. Please, let's forget this plan." His companion pleaded. Cantar's Chaos Ch. 01 "Corliss, did Christiana deserve to die. No, she did not. Esmeralda gave her that drink that killed her daughter and led to her death. Henry soon followed. She took our sister, and they owe me theirs. Those men will know what it is like to have someone who's innocent taken from them." Christophe vowed. Matt said something, and Cantar laughed. Corliss watched her. She was beautiful, and seemed so innocent. Unfortunately, she looked just like the bitch that took his precious sister from him, and for that alone, his brother would kill her. He growled as Cantar reached over and touched Matt's arm, not realizing he had a problem with her touching another male. As she laughed, a part of him loved the soft timbre of her voice and wanted to be the reason she laughed so freely. Soon her companion wanted to dance, and she joined him on the dance floor. He watched as her guards repositioned themselves to be closer to her. Corliss watched them dance, and was instantly annoyed. He did not like the human holding her possessively; he had no right. Well human, enjoy her delights for now. Soon, she will be gone and but a memory to you.Their dance ended and soon they prepared to leave. Christophe told him to follow her and find where she lived. Corliss stayed shadowed as he followed the lovely Cantar and her companion. The human stopped in front of an apartment building and walked her to her door. He did not even give her a customary good night kiss, just a hug. That was fine with him. He did not want another male kissing her anyway. He shadowed himself and watched as the human drove away. ***** Cantar lay in the bed at her friend's apartment. She could not shake the feeling that she was being followed. She wanted to tell someone, but if her brothers learned of it, she'd be sent to a convent for sure. She hoped it was a passing fancy, but she had a feeling that it was not. Standing across the street from the apartment, Corliss watched the room that he was sure she went into. Once the light went off, he vanished into her room. Cantar lay in a fitful sleep. I could take you right now, beautiful. But he would want them to know you've been taken. You truly are beautiful. He thought as he touched her glorious hair. Cantar stirred and Corliss vanished back onto the street. His heart was racing, he felt excited, scared, and elated all at once. He closed his eyes and he knew. He would have to stop his brother. He could never allow harm to come to her, because to harm her would slay him. She was his, his wife. Corliss had to do something. He understood Christophe's pain. The death of Christiana ripped them apart, and to learn it was seemly because some woman was greedy, made the anger even worse. However, she was dead. And from everything that was told, her children were the ones to stop her. However, for his brother, that was not enough. Corliss vanished back to their small home and went to his room. Brother, is that where she lives? Christophe demanded. Corliss answered truthfully, No, that apartment carried the scent of wolves. Very well, that means they are her pets. Most masters would die to protect their pets. We move tomorrow. he sent to his younger brother. Christophe, please don't do this. She was yet a babe when her mother did this evil. She is an innocent, as well. Corliss pleaded. Christophe needed to talk to him, so he appeared in his room. "You beg for her life to be spared. Were you not their as Christiana fought for herself and her child. Her husband and children turned a blind eye to her for centuries. For that alone, they need to suffer. Do you really think she is innocent? Cantar Ivanov has a reputation of being willful and cruel when she wants. She is an exact replica of her bitch of a mother, and I will exact revenge for our sister." He declared. Corliss nodded; he was barely 200 when Henry called for them to come. It was then they learned how ill his sister was. The esteemed Esmeralda stopped coming around. His sister went into labor but did not survive the birth. Her daughter soon followed. Henry blamed himself and used a machete to decapitate himself. "Christophe, she is mine. She is my wife. Do this for me? Let me approach her, and if she accepts me, let her live. If she rejects me, I won't interfere again." Corliss asked. "How many chances will you need for this miracle to occur?" Christophe asked. "Brother, she won't accept you, but you need to learn of her depravity first hand. Once she cuts you down, I destroy her." "I cannot say, wooing her will take time. I must approach her-" I started to say when he cut me off. "Five tries, if you capture her attention. You can woo her, but if she rejects you after the fifth put down, I exact revenge." Christophe decreed. Corliss nodded. He had five tries to capture her attention. Her choosing him would determine if she lived or died. Corliss did not sleep. As he rose the next morning, he was greeted by his family. His parents watched him closely. Christophe walked in and the two men glared at each other. Their parents noticed, but remained silent. Christophe fumed, Corliss declared that witch as his mate. He was mistaken. Cantar Ivanov was pure evil. She would be destroyed just like her mother. He sat next to his brother, and the tension was palpable. Mother looked at them and spoke. "You two are brothers. Whatever has caused this tension, you two need to resolve it. Father looked at them and he knew. Smiling he said, "Corliss, you've found your mate. But Christophe is not happy. Is she one of the vampires that service men for money, or worse yet a human that does it?" he asked. Christophe hissed, "A whore would be preferable over what he has chosen. But no worries father, she will never accept the hand of a servant." "Who is this woman?" Mother asked, curious now. Whoever she was upset her oldest son greatly. She needed to know who this woman was. "Cantar Ivanov, she is my wife." Corliss answered coolly. Mother hissed, "That bitch is NOT welcomed here. After the pain her mother caused, you expect us to accept her. NEVER! "She is not welcomed here. Corliss, I am sure you are mistaken. Besides, her brothers would never allow it." Father declared. Corliss faced his family. As the youngest, he often bore the brunt of Christophe's ill humor. However, his family hatred for the Ivanov family permeated every pore of their beings. He understood, but he had to at least try and protect her. He had to get them to at least tolerate her. He realized it would not happen today. The anger had festered for centuries and would not be overcome so easily. He sighed and looked at the time. It was time to work, and Corliss stood and bid good day to his family. As he left, the weight of their displeasure weighed heavily on the young vampire. If he chose her, he would lose his family. Too late, he'd already chosen. There was nothing left to do but leave home. ***** Cantar woke early and was ready to return home. She thanked Kyra and Malcolm for letting her stay over and then vanished back to her home. Corliss reported to work and could not concentrate. All he could think of was Cantar. Christophe found out that the wolves she was visiting were members of the Loess Pack, and the pack was under council protection. He had no issue with the council, just the Ivanovs. He also learned that she lived on her own and not with her brothers. Her sister owned a home in Nashville, and Cantar resided there. He shared his findings with his brother. Corliss decided he needed to get close to her. He waited a couple of months and then he sought employment at her home. Her house mistress was very strict and he almost did not get hired. But they needed an additional male, so she chose to give him a shot. Corliss reported to Mrs. Manuel for training. "Corliss Darksky, I am hiring you because I like something about you. As you know the mistress of this house is often the recipient of scrutiny from our kind. Because of who her parents were, she needs her privacy. You seem like a decent sort, and I am entrusting you to put her safety first. " She explained. He nodded and went to work. His first job was to carry her drink to her in her office. Corliss walked in and saw her up close for the first time. She was on her computer, and she looked up at him and smiled. He noticed that even though her smile was big and bright, her eyes were sad. He wanted to be the man, to give her happiness. "Hello, you must be new. Please come in. You can place the tray on the table." She instructed. "Sit for a minute." Corliss sat trying hard not to stare at the exquisite creature before him. "Tell me about yourself." She asked. Cantar found herself fascinated by the man before her. He was so handsome, and shy. He didn't gawk at her. It had been so long since someone new came around her and did not stare. "My name is Corliss Darksky. I'm originally from Venezuela this area three hundred years ago after Chr..." he stopped. Corliss took a deep breath and tried to shake the memories. His mate was staring at him, stunned. She knew him. For five hundred years, she's waited to meet him. And here he was a servant in her home. Her brothers would never approve. They had their hearts set on Thomas. She knew Thomas was not the man for her, but she never expected him to be a servant. "Um Corliss, I need you to excuse me a moment. I have to make some important calls." She stood and extended her hands. As he grasped her hand, her body reacted. She noticed that he gripped her hand tightly as if he too felt something. "Um, welcome aboard." She added she reluctantly he let her go. He then turned and left her alone in the room. Corliss Darksky, Corliss Darksky, what an unusual name?Cantar researched the name and learned through history that they were a clan of Vampires that originated and some still lived in South America. They were mostly servants and not extremely wealthy. Some eventually became warlords. She wanted to know about Corliss. After a few hours of learning everything she could about his family, Corliss came back into her office. "Excuse me, Ms. Ivanov, you have guest." Who is it? she wondered. "Bring them in Corliss," and he left out. A few minutes later he returned with some of the girls she had met earlier at a nightclub. She was polite, but she didn't really want to be around these women. They were petty and mean. That wasn't her anymore. The only reason they wanted to come around her was because of her name. Ivanov. She hated that name at times. But changing her name would not change who she was. But Corliss, she'd just met him, and already she felt comfortable in his presence. "Nice piece of eye candy." One girl sneered. "I'd try him out But he'll have to stay secret." The girls laughed. "Enough, ladies, what are you all up to?" Cantar asked wanting them gone. "Oh, we're going shopping in England. Jessica's dad gave her his plane. Do you want to come?" she asked. HELL NO!Cantar thought, but her answer was more diplomatic. "I'm sorry. You all know I'm responsible for my families foundation. I'm working on it today." She declined sweetly. "Pshhhh, Girl pay someone to do that. You are Cantar Ivanov; you don't have to work?" the leader suggested, not believing she would dare refuse to hang out with them. "I'm sorry, Sunni, I promised my brothers that I'd be responsible for the foundation and I must keep my word, but if you guys are back we can hang out later." Cantar suggested. "Well, it's your loss." Sunni hissed, and then she looked at Corliss once again. "Are you sure he's not available, because girl he is fucking gorgeous." "He has a name and he is not a toy you can play with. Besides, you must be discriminatory Sunni. Too loose and people will think you're slutty", Cantar added. "Girl, we are all sluts for the right cock, and I bet he has a nice one." She insisted leering at Corliss. Cantar had enough, and was about to rip her friend's head off for gawking at her mate. Corliss sensed her tension, and waited. He knew she was annoyed at her friend and that made him smile. She composed herself, and politely dismissed her friends. Corliss escorted them out and the one named Sunni flirted with him the whole time. He did not respond, nor did he encourage her. He didn't think his wife would like the idea of him flirting. The women left and Corliss returned to Cantar's office and smiled. He moved to her side and spoke softly, "Thank you for defending me." Cantar gasped, "They were wrong. I understand that now." Her heart was racing. He could hear it. She knew he could hear her heart, because, his was racing as well. "My brothers might not approve of you." She bluntly stated. "They don't matter; do you approve?" he asked as she shifted and he held her for a brief moment. Cantar, with a boldness she never knew she had answered, "Maybe," she exhaled, "We'll see. I may be better off alone." One, baby brother, four more to go. Christophe sent. Christophe, get out of my head. he demanded. He was talking to someone. Cantar didn't like it. She was aware that people hated her. She tried to go on as if it didn't matter, but it did. Corliss had secrets, and she didn't like it. He sensed a change in her, and realized it was because of him. "I'm sorry, Cantar. I didn't mean to offend you. My brother keeps making-" she smiled. "Ah so you have a pesky big brother as well?" she queried. "How many brothers do you have?" "One, our sister died centuries ago." He answered, not knowing why he revealed that. Being astute, Cantar recalled his almost said someone's name earlier. She knew it was his sister. She wondered what happened to her and then thought, What if Mother... She blocked the thoughts. "I'm sorry. I know how painful it is to lose someone." Although she never mentioned it, the loss of her parents still grieved her. Corliss smiled, "Thank you." He looked around. He needed to get back to work, so he stood to leave. "Don't go. How old are you?" she asked, trying to find any reason to keep her there. "In human years, I'm twenty six, but I'm actually five hundred twenty-six." He answered. "How old are you?" he asked. "I'm five hundred twenty-two." She answered. "You probably already knew that. I have been all over the rumor waves." "I have heard some things, and I won't lie. I was intrigued, but since I've met you I'd rather form my own opinion." He smiled Cantar liked him. He seemed really nice and she felt so comfortable with him. But she thought of her brothers. They would have a fit if they knew she met someone that was not Thomas. Cantar went silent, and Corliss froze. "What did you think about what you have heard? Do you think I am the reincarnation of my mother?" she asked. He hesitated, and her heart dropped. She pulled away. Strike two brother, three more tries. Corliss ignored his brother. "Ms. Ivanov, you are not your mother. You are not to blame for what she did." He explained carefully. She looked at him, and something in her eyes told him his answer was important. Cantar smiled, and wanted to just jump up and hug him. Her husband was an amazing man, but she had to straighten out the damage her mother caused first before she would even think of being with him. Once she made amends then it would be safe for them to be together. "Corliss, what time does your day end?" she asked. "Six, why?" he asked "If nothing else goes wrong, will you join me this evening? We can go out if you want or stay here?" she asked nervously. "I'd love to join you." He replied. "Now I need to get back to work. My new boss might fire me." He teased and winked as he left her alone in the library. Cantar, watched him leave and sighed. He is absolutely perfect. I have to get my brothers to accept him. Then she returned to her work with their family foundation. She then focused on her work. One name kept coming up, but when the claims were checked they let coming back unfounded. The client had no concrete proof of any wrong doing. She highlighted the name again and sent a memo to her researchers. She may have to meet with this man in person and assess his claim. Soon the day ended, and it was almost six. Corliss ended his day and he walked back to the library. He stood in the door and watched her. She was typing and had the cutest little frown on her face. Clearing his throat, she looked up. When she saw him, she smiled. "Hi, Corliss, are you done?" she asked. "Yes, I just finished." He answered. "You can finish; I'll wait." He explained. Cantar quickly finished and then spent the rest of the evening together. Cantar fascinated him. She had traveled extensively, and accomplished quite a few goals. Corliss shared stories of growing up in South America, and dealing with the challenges of being a servant. He talked about the challenges of dealing with the previous council. He almost told her about losing Christiana, but that memory reminded him of the current time. His brother wanted to take her. He had to stop him. "Corliss, what is it?" Cantar asked. "Nothing, just memories." Corliss explained. Soon it was extremely late and Corliss bid her good night and went home. Cantar went to her room and called her new friend. "Hello, Cantar. What is going on?" Kyra answered, because Cantar rarely called. "I met him. Kyra, my husband. He is so handsome, and kind. We spent the entire evening together just talking. He really listened to me. Kyra, you have to come meet him. Can you come by tomorrow?" Cantar asked. Kyra laughed. "Yes, what time will he be there? I only have two classes, so I'm free all afternoon." "He works here, so anytime. Do you think my brothers will have a problem with him being a servant?" Cantar asked. "Well, it won't matter. He's mine." "What time can you come?" she asked. "I can be there at twelve. You can feed me lunch, OK." Kyra informed her friend. Cantar smiled. "OK, I'll see you tomorrow. If you like him, maybe we can hangout one weekend. You and Malcolm can drive over and stay, and that way he can meet him and tell me what he thinks." Cantar stated wishfully, hoping her best friends mate like the man she would claim as her husband. "We'd love to, besides I want to check this guy out for myself." Kyra whispered. Cantar giggled, "OK. See you tomorrow then." And both girls hang up. Kyra turned and looked at her sleeping mate. If this guy made her as happy as her mate did, then Cantar was so lucky. Then she cuddled into her mate and went to sleep. The next morning, Corliss arrived to work early, and popped by the library to see if Cantar was up. She wasn't in yet and he was disappointed. He reported in and got his assignments for the day. He took her morning beverage to her and they chatted. Soon he had other duties, and Cantar didn't want him to go. She asked him to come back at noon. He agreed, and then proceeded on with his day. Cantar went back to work with the foundation. The same case that was constantly popping up was back. Her field workers still stated the client's claims were unconfirmed. Cantar started to call her brothers, but knowing how they'd overreact, she decided to call a vampire that worked for her instead. "Hello, Samaria, I have a favor," she spoke to her employee. "Yes, Ms. Ivanov, what is it?' Samaria asked. She knew this girl would not call unless it was serious. "Samaria, can you meet and talk with a client. He keeps applying for reimbursement, but doesn't qualify. Take someone with you, but assess him and tell me if you think he's legit." Cantar requested. Usually if someone need to be vetted, they would do it themselves, but something about this guy made her uneasy. Samaria agreed, and told her she'd call her as soon as she was done. Cantar's Chaos Ch. 01 Soon it was noon, and Kyra appeared in the library and the two friends embraced. The girl's sat down to talk. "So, dish, tell me about him." Krya encouraged. It didn't take much. "Kyra, he is everything I ever dreamed. He's a little taller than me, strong, and has the sexist accent. He has the deep olive skin with jet black hair. His eyes are grey, but they turn dark when he is excited. His voice is so deep, and sexy. I get goose bumps every time he speaks. He stayed after he finished his shift last night and we talked for hours. He doesn't treat me differently. I mean, like most people look at me and see Mother but, he treated me as if I was normal. He never changed the way he talked to me. Unfortunately, he had to go. He came by early this morning, and I asked him to join us for lunch. He should be there, let's go." The two friends walked to the dining room. Corliss had not arrived yet, and Cantar was anxious. When he did arrive, Mrs. Manuel stopped him. He explained that he was invited. She walked him in, and Cantar lit up. Stunned, the older lady reminded Corliss he had one hour for lunch, and not a minute more. Cantar introduced her best friend, and Kyra checked the guy out. The three talked. Kyra really liked him. They talked the entire hour. Corliss made Kyra a roast beef sandwich, and she swore to Cantar if she lost this guy, their friendship was done. She knew Malcolm would like him, and they made plans to go out Friday night. Corliss was hesitant." "Cantar, remember Malcolm and I are not made of money, so whatever we do needs to be cheap," she gently reminded her friend. Cantar looked confused. Kyra knew that she would cover any cost, but then she saw a look of relief on Corliss's face. Then she understood. So she laughed and said, "OK." Corliss was relieved. He didn't have much money, but he wanted to be able to cover his cost. Soon lunch ended. Corliss went back to work and Kyra vanished back to home. Cantar returned to her office. Samaria had called to report on the meeting. She returned the call. "Ms. Ivanov, something is wrong with this guy. I am advising you to not take any more applications from him. You may want to alert your brothers as well. It is something not right about him." She emphasized. Her report made Cantar nervous. She started to call Kale, but they would use any reason to make her move back with them. So she kept quiet. Cantar focused on her work and forgot to call home. After a few weeks, her sisters concern grew. Cantar would call Brenwan, almost every week. For the last four weeks, she had not heard from her. Brenwan called her. Cantar, are you alright. Brenwan, I'm fine. I'm sorry I've been busy with the foundation. How's my nephew? Cantar queried. He's bigger and all three kids miss their aunt. When will you come visit? Brenwan asked. I'll pop in next weekend. I promise. I have plans this weekend. she sighed. Brenwan heard the wistful note in her voice and had to ask. When will we meet him? Cantar laughed, As soon as you guys promise me you'll restrain your husbands. Brenwan chuckled and said. Please come see us next week OK. I will, and Brenwan, I am fine. Try not to worry so much. Cantar sent. Brenwan sighed and the women ended their communication. Meanwhile, Christophe was rethinking his revenge plot. His brother claimed the witch and he wanted to respect that. However, her family had to learn money did not fix all the damage their mother caused. He sat at local bar drinking. As he was drinking, the atmosphere changed; he walked in. If this vampire was around, then trouble was brewing. Christophe didn't like that guy, and he would make sure he avoided him at all cost. As quickly as that vampire entered, Christophe left. This chapter continues the story line from Ivanovs chapter seven. Thanks to Overstar for editing and revising. Any errors found are not a reflection on this gentleman. IR2R Chapter 2 Cantar was so focused on the foundation that she failed to call Brenwan. However, Brenwan called and she assured her that she was fine. She had plans with Corliss this weekend, and didn't want to cancel. A few weeks ago, Kyra and Malcolm came and the four went out. They had a great time. This weekend, the two of them were spending time alone. Corliss refused to let her pay, so she was sure it would be something low key that she would enjoy. Friday night came and Corliss told her he had to leave early, but he would be back early Saturday morning. She understood and hugged him before he left. But Corliss did something, else, he kissed her. Cantar forgot to breath. His lips were so soft and plush. She held on to him tightly. She kissed him back. Soon he ended the kiss, and just held her. I'll be back in the morning. I promise. I have a family issue to deal with. Cantar nodded, but she hated letting him go. ***** Baby Kalen was almost two months old and they were just returning from a checkup at the compound. Brenwan felt a sense of foreboding. She was concerned because Cantar had not stopped in to visit. They had spoken weeks ago and she assured her she would pop in. Brenwan decided to go see her youngest sister. She took Kalen with her, as she appeared in the library at Cantar's home. Cantar was working, but she seemed disturbed. Cantar stopped working and greeted her, but Brenwan could tell she was bothered by something. "Cantar, you have not visited. I know you have your own life, but we worry." Brenwan explained. Cantar smiled. "I'm sorry. I've been busy with the foundation and Corliss." She turned and blushed. Brenwan smiled, "Ah, so finally, I have a name. Tell me about this young man." Kalen started fretting and Cantar held her nephew. She talked to him and he calmed quickly. Brenwan smiled. Cantar was a natural with kids. "Brenwan, he's the nicest, most handsome man. He never makes me feel less than and treats me like a Goddess. He listens to me. He checks on me several times a day. Usually he makes me stop working, because I get so involved with the foundation. He thinks I work too much." Her computer chimed. She stopped and looked at the screen and frowned. It was that guy again. She had already addressed his claim and sent him a final notice of denial. Now he had begun to threaten her. Brenwan noticed her change and asked. "Cantar, is everything alright?" Cantar nodded and gave the baby back, "It's fine. It's just... It's foundation stuff." She then stopped talking, and Brenwan's concern grew. She would contact Kale as soon as she made it home. She recalled talking with Krill before giving birth and was filled with sense of dread. She'd tell Kale, check on Cantar. She knew her youngest sister was extremely secretive. She was surprised she even told her the name of the man. "Cantar, you are important to us, all of us. Remember that." She felt the need to remind her. She knew that at times the young woman felt alone. Cantar nodded and Brenwan hugged her with her free arm. "I know. I love you guys, but someone has to try and fix Momma's mess. If I had been more diligent, maybe..." "Cantar, you are not at fault for what she did." Brenwan explained. "I know. Brenwan, I wish I could explain the guilt, but I cannot. I have to do this and maybe one day I won't feel guilty anymore." Cantar took a breath. "I had one role, and that was to keep an eye on her. Garrick defended us against attack. Kale kept an eye on politics. My job was to help Momma, and she hurt so many people. I failed. So now, I have to fix what I can." She looked at her sister, "Does that make sense?" Brenwan nodded. It was obvious that Cantar still blamed herself. She needed to talk with the other women. "OK, now, I'll let you get back to work, but we want to meet him." Brenwan stated. Cantar froze, Would they have a problem when they learn he's a servant? I can't put him in a position that might make him uncomfortable. Brenwan stopped and she watched her carefully. Then she gave her some advice, "Cantar, we are your family. We are here for you. All of us are here, OK. Never forget that." Cantar smiled and thanked her. Brenwan visited a bit longer and then Cantar needed to get back to work. So she hugged her tightly and made her promise to visit. She then sent for Nicky and Shari to join her. As she arrived home, her other sisters were there already, waiting. Brenwan told them of her concerns and the women decided to act. "She is racked with guilt. I hate her mother for doing this to her, and she will not let go of the guilt." Brenwan explained to Shari and Nicky. The children were with them, and Theo was coloring. Ava and Kalen were napping. "While I was there, she got a message. She acted strangely, and I think she's hiding something. I'm calling Kale." Kale, can you come home? I need you. Brenwan sent. Kale arrived, feeling amorous, when Shari chimed in, "Unless you want an audience, curb it big boy." Kale laughed and greeted his brother's wives. He hugged each woman taking time to touch Nicky's protruding belly where her daughter grew. "Gernick had to have a daughter. Now he has one of each." Winking at his wife, "Bren, we need to catch up." Brenwan laughed and said, "This is serious." She then relayed to her husband the events that happened during her visit. Kale was alerted instantly. Cantar was a priority for all of them. He and the brothers watched her carefully and the council was investigating potential threats. Brenwan's concern caused his anxiety to increase. "We will deal with this. Thank you for checking on her. We were trying to give her space and she is heavily guarded. However, if something is going on with the foundation, we will check on it." Kale reassured the women that Cantar would be protected. Then he sent Garrick a message that he would be at his office in a minute, and then he kissed Brenwan and told her he'd be back. He then vanished to Garrick's office. Kale arrived and relayed Brenwan's c concerns and findings to his brother. Garrick called Krill, because he was also as adamant about Cantar's safety. Krill appeared, and was immediately alarmed. He knew which vampires were on her research team, so he made a couple of calls. Samaria was growing increasingly concerned about her young employer. The man was even more insistent, and she feared the girl could be in danger. She had spoken with her once again about alerting her brothers, but Ms. Ivanov was quick to remind her that she worked for her and if she insisted, she would need to seek employment elsewhere. Her phone rang, and she recognized Krill's number. She knew he was a council member now and wondered was this call about the council. She doubted it and she was sure it had to do with Ms. Ivanov. "Councilman Kelvic, to what do I owe this pleasure?" Samaria answered. "Samaria, you are working with my cousin with her family's foundation. Has she gotten any threatening calls, or perhaps someone who is extremely persistent?" he asked. Samaria took a breath, and he caught it. "Tell me." He demanded. "Well Mr. Kelvic, she does have a client that keeps applying for reimbursement, but he does not qualify. She sent him a notarized letter to stop the harassment. All applications are monitored and his have been flagged." Samaria explained. "How long?" he asked. "It's been two weeks since his last contact that I know of." She answered. Krill nodded. He needed to inform Garrick and Kale right away. He disconnected from the caller and took a breath. He looked at his cousins, and said "She was having problems with a client. I have to go, I'll be right back." And he vanished to Samaria's office. She sat hat her desk. He could sense the stress she was under and a part of him wanted to just pull her into his embrace. However, he ignored it. "Sammie," he growled. "You know how protective her brothers are. Why did you not call?" he demanded. Samaria was trying to get her nerves to calm down from the call when Krill appeared in her office furious. "Look Councilman Kelvic-," Krill stopped her. "Drop the title Sammie. It's just us here. "Look, I warned her about the man, and she dropped him. He still sends in applications, but they go straight to spam. Besides, I told her to notify her brothers. I thought she did." She explained. "Why didn't you call?" he demanded. "I need this job. You know what happened three years ago... No one will hire me and she threatened." She tried to explain. "Sammie, if something happens to her, and I learn that you could have prevented it, losing this job is the least of your worries." He growled and then he vanished. He looked at Samaria and said. "We need to talk. I'll be back when this is over." He vanished back to Garrick's office. Samaria sat in her office dumbfounded. How is this my fault? I told her to call, and she didn't. How can he blame me? She pondered. Krill returned to Garrick's office furious. Seeing Samaria after all these years affected him profoundly. To most, she would seem plain and uninteresting, but to him, she was the most beautiful. She had no idea how lovely she was, and was often the victim of ridicule from her peers. He was aware of the scandal that cost her a lucrative job three years ago, and if he could the man at the center would be castrated. Krill knew who Samaria Menes was, and one day when the time was right, he'd declare his true intentions. But right now, he had to protect his cousin. He returned to his cousin's office and relayed the information he'd just learned. Gernick had a business issue to deal with and they'd fill him in later. Krill took a deep breath and told them what he learned from Samaria. Then he explained what the council had learned. "I talked to one of her researchers. Brenwan was right, she has been getting harassing messages from a client. The people with the foundation have taken steps to contain the situation, but I really think that guy found another way to get through." He exhaled. "The council has learned that a bounty has been placed on Cantar's life. We narrowed it down to two factions. A representative has been sent to meet with each group and relay a message that if any harm comes to Cantar, they will face the council. The entire vampire community knows how you all have suffered at Esmeralda's hands. These two groups however feel that you have not paid enough. They are targeting Cantar for some unknown reason, but I promise you, they will not touch my cousin." Krill vowed. Over the past year, he'd gotten to know his family, and loved Cantar to distraction. Often he ran interference between her and her over protective brothers. This was why Brenwan felt comfortable enough to call him. However, this time he was teaming with them. As he was leaving to meet with the brother's he got a call from the newest council member Claus. Claus was in Asia, but he was ready to come back if needed. Claus was essentially the father of Cantar's oldest brother, but his promise to their father was to look out for all of is kids and he gave his word. So therefore, he considered Cantar as his daughter as well. If someone was threatening her, then they were declaring war in the whole clan. He, too, was ready to fight. Garrick spoke, "She looks like mother. That is part of the reason." "How long will it be before Gernick gets here?" Kale asked. This was one time he actually agreed with his oldest brother. Cantar needed to stay with one of them, at least until this threat was eliminated. He knew she'd be furious, but it was for the best. They needed to talk to their wives, and explain. Once he women agreed, they could convince her to come home. Garrick, how long will you be? Kale sent. An hour, tops. Why? Gernick asked. Kale would never call unless it was serious. Just hurry, and we will fill you in. Kale replied as he closed their connection. Gernick had to go; he turned and addressed the men he was meeting with, "Gentlemen, we have talked for two hours. Now, either you want to do business with my company or you don't. I will no longer sit here and listen to you flip flop. So you know my number, go and make your decision. Call my assistant, once you decide. Jared, Kevin, please finish this meeting without me. Good day Gentlemen." And he left the conference room. When Gernick was safely inside his office, he vanished to meet his brothers and cousin. Krill repeated the news and Gernick asked one question. "What are the names?" Krill spoke, "Gernick, you cannot declare war on them. The council will deal with this." "They threaten my sister, and you expect me to trust the council." Gernick growled, "Hell no, not after..." "Gregor and Esmeralda are gone. Your adopted father, Claus, sits on the council. Do you doubt him?" Krill asked. "That old council no longer exists, but I can't give you the names, yet. Come to council headquarters, and if they agree, we will tell you." He suggested. Gernick calmed down considerably, because he knew Claus would look out for him, and his siblings. "When will they convene again?" he asked. "In the morning, on this situation actually, you three need to be there." He stated finally. "This girl, this researcher, did not call us. Why?" Gernick demanded. Although Krill had blasted her earlier, he would not let Gernick have a go at her. Instantly his demeanor changed, "Cantar threatened to fire her, and she needs her job. She did tell Cantar to inform us, but she chose not to. Do you know why Gernick?" he asked. Gernick cringed. He knew Cantar felt suffocated, but he was not apologizing for it. So he faced his cousin and the two men squared off. Garrick intervened, "Look, once Cantar is safe, you two can beat the hell out of each other. But for right now, we need to focus on this threat." Gernick backed down, which was a first. However, over the last year, he knew he could trust Krill. Also for Krill to become so defensive meant the researcher was someone important to him. He'd tease him later. "I'm sorry. Look Krill, I know this girl is not to blame, it's just..." and touched his shoulder and answered, "Thank you, Krill, for helping us look out for her. We need someone with her until we can get a handle on this." Garrick spoke. Krill nodded, and the issue was tabled. Kale looked on and said, "We can call Thomas. She likes him, and we know he cares for her. Besides, maybe putting them together will speed things up." The other two nodded. Krill laughed, "Are you serious? You think you can pick the guy she marries. I have a wolf sister named Lana, and my wolf brothers and I tried to hand pick her mate. She rebelled and married some cretin that was lower than a snake's belly. He's dead because he beat her and we had to kill him. She found her true mate later, and he happened to be a good friend. I know you mean well, but you need to back off. If you push this it could backfire." "Thomas is a nice guy and he's smart. She seemed to like him." Kale insisted, but secretly he acknowledged that Krill had a point. "Lana liked the man that's her mate now, but we forced her hand. I'm just saying; my cousin is a spitfire, and I would hate for some poor vampire to die because if she gets hurt, well..." Krill stated, and her brothers agreed. "Ok, we won't push him as a potential mate, but I'd feel better if someone was there. Let's increase security and have them place all of us on instant alert." Garrick suggested. Kale and Gernick agreed. "If she doesn't agree to let Thomas stay, then she's coming back with one of us. I know she wants her independence, but her safety trumps that." Soon the men finished strategizing and Kale called Thomas. Thomas agreed to visit and within minutes all three brothers, her cousin, and Thomas were in the library at her home. Cantar was summoned and instantly annoyed. Corliss was about to get off when her family appeared. Cantar froze and he understood that her brothers had no clue that she was interested in him. He smiled and she could see understanding in his eyes. He asked if she needed anything else, before he finished his duties. Gernick sensed something about him and as he was about to question him, when Cantar told him she didn't need anything else. She and the young man looked at each other and the truth was obvious. "Corliss, thank you for staying, but I need to talk to my brothers. You can go home for the day." Cantar whispered. Corliss smiled at her, and her brothers knew he was smitten, but that didn't concern them. They were concerned because their baby sister seemed to be just enthralled as the young man. "No, no, Cantar, No!" Gernick declared emphatically as soon as the young man left. She went immediately on the defensive, and then she realized all of her brothers were there with Krill and Thomas. "Thomas, I'm sorry they keep putting you in this. I've tried to-"Garrick cut her off. "You are in danger, and until we find out whom, Thomas will stay here with you. Also just so you know, we're increasing security and after tonight, any new people that have been hired since you moved in here will be let go." Garrick explained. Corliss, I won't get to see him. Cantar faced her older brother, "No! Gernick you cannot take over my life. This is these people's livelihood. You can't just let them go." She argued. "We'll give them a generous severance package." He declared. "Your safety trumps everything Cantar." There was no point in arguing with him when he went into protective mode. Garrick and Kale would always agree with him. But she'd just met Corliss, and didn't want to give him up. "Who am I being threatened by?" she asked, wondering Do they know about the client?. Kale spoke, "We don't know, but tomorrow we will find out. For tonight, we want Thomas here with you." Kale hugged his sister, and he could feel the tension in her body. "Fine, Thomas, let me show you to your room." She mumbled. ***** Corliss went to a small apartment that he'd rented near her home. She amazed him, and he knew her brothers would not approve. He was preparing for bed when Christophe appeared. "Well, little brother. How is the wooing of the bitch going?" Christophe sneered. "I just met her. So it hasn't really started. Besides you gave me five tries, you have to honor your word." He reminded him. "I know, and she has resisted you twice already. Three more let downs and it's my turn. I will keep my word little brother, unless something forces my hand. You seem bothered? Speak." Christophe demanded. Corliss hesitated, "Her brothers dropped in and brought a male they deem suitable to see her." "All of her brothers? What did they want?" He asked. Christophe was smart. If her brothers were on alert, he needed to snatch her before they placed her under guard. His insipid brother fancied himself in love with her so. He could no longer be trusted. He dreaded the fact that he had to break his promise, but they had to suffer. Christophe hugged his brother, and whispered, "I'm sorry." Then he vanished. Corliss sensed she was in danger, and rushed to find her. She was talking to the male her brothers brought. He waited until she returned to her brothers and appeared. "Cantar, you are in danger. Please take her with you. He will come for her—" Krill grabbed him before he could finish. Cantar screamed for him to let Corliss go. She snatched her friend a way. The five were so engrossed in their argument that none noticed the interloper that entered with a special guest. Cantar's Chaos Ch. 02 All of a sudden they heard someone applauding. They looked up and the man had a wolf cub by his neck. "Give me the bitch, or he dies?" Corliss did not know this man, but he knew his mate was in real danger. Gernick did not recognize the cub. This vampire had just signed his own death warrant. No one fucked with the children, this bastard had to know this.Gernick, is everything alright? Do you need us? Javon sent, alerted by the rage he felt through the Alpha bond he shared with Gernick his newest member. Javon we will deal with this rot, don't worry. Gernick sent, and he and Garrick prepared to attack, but the vampire laughed and said, "By the time you get to me, I'll break his neck. Now give me the bitch, and I'll give you this filthy mutt." Cantar could not let him hurt that child, so breaking through; she went to the vampire and ordered that he release the pup. He did and took her and vanished. Corliss screamed. She would be hurt, or worse, killed. Gernick held the terrified pup, and promised to get him home. Garrick dispatched his team. Krill alerted the council. Corliss went to find Christophe. If anyone could find his mate, it was his brother. Corliss vanished, but not without Kale. Kale sensed he was about to go and grabbed his arm. They appeared at a small house. Corliss snatched away and screamed for Christophe. His brother appeared and was ready to attack when Corliss screamed "He took her!" Christophe froze, "Who! Little brother, who took her?" Distraught Corliss described the vampire, "He was older and bald. He had a brown mustache and a goatee with one gold tooth. He was tall and lanky. He will hurt her. I know it. Christophe, please, you have to find her." Christophe knew who it was. He knew he was up to something that was why he made himself scarce. If he took the girl, then she was as good as dead. Someone spoke. A man came with his brother. It was then he recognized Kale Ivanov. Kale spoke and Christophe turned on him. "Get out of my parent's home. I hope she dies a slow painful death." Corliss gasped. "What little brother? You thought I would help find that bitch?" He glared at Kale, "I hope she dies." Corliss slugged him. Chaos erupted as the two men fought. Kale broke the fight up as the parents rushed into the room. The father stared at Christophe, not believing he would be so cruel to his brother, but his wife's reaction surprised hem even more. Mother came in and looked at her youngest son and hissed. "You chose that bitch over your family. Have you lost your mind Corliss? Get out and don't come back." Corliss was stunned. Kale grabbed the young man and they vanished back to Cantar's home. After Kale took Corliss and vanished. Chris turned to his wife and spoke in a tone she had never heard. "How dare you ban my son? If I lose him because he feels he has to choose. I won't forgive you. I won't forgive either of you. You forget my parents did not approve of our union either. Do you really want to put our child through that?" he asked. Christophe was shocked. He knew they rarely saw is grandparents, but he never knew it was because they disapproved of mother. This information made him think. Maybe, just maybe, he was wrong. Back at Cantar's home, Corliss faced Gernick, "Who was that? That vampire, who was he?" Corliss demanded. "It doesn't matter. He will be dead by this time tomorrow night." He vowed as his eyes bled black. He then vanished and took the cub to the Alpha and the pack. He explained what had happened and swore the culprit would be dealt with. The council was on full alert as Gernick arrived home to tell Nicky that Cantar had been taken. Nicky snapped. "You have to find her, Gernick? Did you know him?" Gernick held his mate, and he imagined the other wives had the same reaction. He knew who took her. He had not seen that bastard in centuries. Now he dare touch his sister. He did not tell the wolves, but Elise sensed something and called them to the compound. It was then he explained that the pup was bait for the vampire to take his sister. The wolves were so hurt, and offered to help. Gernick thanked them and asked that they keep the children for them if the need arose. Then he and Nicky went back home. Claus and Amerie were there. Cassius actually came with Claus and a few more council members. Gernick called his brothers and they arrived instantly with their mates. Kale brought Corliss and Thomas with him. Gernick was almost annoyed that he brought the servant, but Claus cleared his throat. Gernick dropped his head, embarrassed. When this was over, he needed to have a talk with his son But for now, the brother's needed to be brought up to speed and they had a quick meeting. The council informed him that the guy that took Cantar was a supporter of Esmeralda. The council had quite a bit of information on the man. His name was Johannes Gallo. He was promised a seat on the council by their mother once she destroyed Gregor and took control of the council. They were not sure, if there was a physical relationship between them, but would not be surprised if there was. The news was even better, they knew where he lived. Gernick and Garrick knew Johannes and that was what scared them the most. He had no morals, no scruples. He would kill her just to spite them. Garrick dispatched his men as did Gernick. They wanted to go, but their wives needed them and they could not leave them. Garrick's team called in first to report his home in upstate New York was vacant. Gernick's team called in from the west coast, and reported that home was vacant also. The council team reported a sighting in Central America. They did not move on him because they didn't want him to panic and hurt the girl. Claus told Gernick and his brothers, that for now, they needed to wait. Claus then faced Corliss, he had questions. "Darksky, are you related to the clan from South America?" he asked. "Yes, they are my family. Look Councilman Stovak, please find her. If she is hurt by him, I'll ... I don't want her hurt." Corliss explained. Claus watched him intently, as did the other council members. The brothers and their spouses noticed. "Claus, what are you not saying?" Nicky demanded. Because if she learned this man had anything to do with this, she was taking his head. He was dead, and pregnant or not she would kill him. Corliss felt the anger of the others in the room, and he knew when they learned of Christophe, his life might be forfeit. So he spoke, "My family hates you. Your stepmother murdered our sister and her unborn child centuries ago. She had no reason to. We have no power, no influence, and no money. She did this because she could. My brother wanted to exact retribution, by taking your sister in return for ours. I stopped him because," he took a deep breath. He knew his next words might ignite a firestorm that would surely lead to his death. "Cantar is my wife. I cannot let anyone hurt her. My brother broke his vow and planned to snatch her tonight, but this other man took her first. Now my family has disowned me and I am without a home. I have nothing to offer her. But if I can keep her alive. I'd gladly give my life to do so. So gentlemen, please save her. She won't resist because she still feels guilt and shame because of her mother. I know this because we connected, and I too understand what it means to be shamed by your family." Corliss stood tall and looked each vampire in the eye. "If the cost of saving her means, I go. Then I will never approach her, but I need her to live." And he was done. ***** Cantar and the man that took her appeared at a small rustic cabin. She had no idea where she was, what continent, or even if it was possible to contact another being. But she was not worried. Her brothers would find her all she had to do was call them and they'd track her down. But Cantar was curious, this man wanted to kill a child to take her, where were the child's parents. Wolves protected their young, so if he had them somewhere, she had to find a way to free them also. "You're dead. You know that right?" Cantar taunted. Johannes laughed, "You sound just like her. You speak with confidence when you don't even know if you'll be alive long enough to be rescued." Years of learning at her mother's side came into play, Esmeralda never let on what she was thinking. So donning a calm mask, Cantar became her mother's clone. Her host was not someone she wanted to know. She had one goal. Find the cub's mother. She didn't have to wait long. He held on to her and called out to someone. A she wolf came in carrying a collar. Her host held her still as the woman clamped the device onto her neck. Cantar scented the girl and noted the cub he held hostage had her scent. She didn't seem to be concerned about her child and Cantar realized she differed completely from the Loess pack. "Johannes, look, how long do we have to hold her before they pay?" she asked. "Patience, Ashley, it is well known how protective her brothers are. We'll hold her for a few days and then call. However, you need to have concern for the cub, we can use him as leverage against that pack." Johannes stated. The she wolf nodded, and then smiled evilly, "As long as I don't have to take it back. Just because my parents wanted sex, and then died, I shouldn't be stuck raising their kid. Are you sure, they'll want to keep it, um I mean him?" Cantar was furious, and knew that she had to make sure that cub did not go back to his sister. "Wait, you're doing this for money. Are you serious? All you had to do was contact the foundation, it is set up to reimburse-" Johannes laughed. "I tried that, but you refused to honor my request. Then you sent that letter, telling me I could no longer apply. I thought about it and realized, they will pay much for your safe return, so I changed tactics. You think I wanted the few pennies you would give me? No dear, I serviced your mother for centuries, and she took care of me. You caused her death, so now you must pay. Now I will have what is mine, and you will help me get it." He tugged her collar pulling her close to his face. "You don't fear me? You should." Cantar glared at him, but she wasn't her mother's daughter for no reason. She could read him, and she knew he was a pariah and would sell his soul for the easiest buck. As a child her mother dealt with people like this often. She remembered her telling her to Give them enough rope to hang themselves. So she decided to get a little more information before contacting her brothers. "How can you treat your brother this way? I thought wolves were familial creatures. You are a strange one." She observed of the she wolf. "I'm strange. Your whole family is messed up. That's OK, when they pay, I'll take care of Vince. Don't worry about my brother, bitch. I'm not." She hissed. The vampire hugged her and kissed her neck and Cantar was surprised. A vampire and a she wolf, impossible. One bite and the bitch was dead, unless they shared a blood bond. She scented the two of them, and noted no bond existed. Johannes eyes flashed, and she knew. Once he got this so called money, the bitch was dead, and she had no clue. Cantar was torn, should she tell her or wait. She didn't call her brothers right then, because they were watching her too closely. As soon as their attentions were diverted, she'd call. As she waited, the she wolf excused herself to read, as Johannes got distracted also. She wasn't sure how long she had, so she had to reach someone that would listen. Suspecting she would try to vanish, Johannes issued a warning. "Don't try to leave. The collar is electromagnetic. If you try to leave, it will take your head." Johannes smiled evilly. She was beautiful. A part of him wished..., well it did not matter. Once her brothers paid, he'd vanish. He'd already taken steps to disappear for good, so he'd live the next few centuries in luxury. As for the bitch, she was simply collateral damage. Corliss, can you hear me? she sent. She knew he was more than likely with her brothers, and he would be more apt to listen. Cantar, love, where are you? Has he hurt... Please tell me where you are? he sent. Listen, I don't have much time. Is Nicky or Brenwan there? She asked, watching the she-wolf. Yes, Brenwan and Nicky, why? he replied. Cantar shifted. The collar was heavy and uncomfortable, but she could not risk transporting. Which one is watching you? Nicky, look Cantar.- Corliss listen, I don't have much time. Call Nicky. Tell Nicky I told you that although she never really trusted me, I know for a fact that she would be the first one to fight. She overcame her fears and let me connect with my nephew. I need you to get her to listen. Her favorite color is purple, and she has a purple polka-dot bear that she bought years ago hidden in her closet. she exhaled. "Nicky, you never really trusted Cantar, but you helped her by giving her the right to know your son," Corliss spoke. Gernick growled and was ready to attack. Corliss kept talking. " You have a purple dotted bear in your closet." He cried. "Cantar contacted me. She can't talk long, but she said to call you." He explained. "Wait, she can talk to you mentally. Ask where she is?" Nicky demanded. Baby, where are you? Corliss sent. I don't know. In a cabin, but that's all I can tell. He has a collar that will decapitate me if I try to vanish. A she wolf is helping him. She is the sister of the cub. They come, I must go. Then she closed off communication. Corliss relayed the short message. Immediately all of Johannes properties were identified. He did not own a cabin, but the she wolf could. They needed the name of the she wolf. If they identified her, they may be closer to their sister. Gernick contacted the pack and Javon stated that the cub was safe, he would have his scouts locate any Were deaths that occurred in the past year or so. "Why would she call him? He is not..." Garrick vented. "He is her husband. You need to accept it and help him find her. Garrick, you have to find her and bring her home." Shari sobbed. "We will baby; we will." He promised holding his wife close. All he needed was a location and the man and the bitch were dead. "Cantar, are you comfortable? You are my new cash cow, and I'd hate for you to be damaged," Johannes taunted. "I'm fine, quite comfortable actually. Really Johannes, you shouldn't worry about me. You should be worried about how my brothers will kill you." She smiled evilly, "They will kill you and the bitch too." Her tone was so cool, that he looked at her twice. "Love they have to find you first, and they won't, at least not until I'm ready for them to. Who knows, maybe I'll sample your sweetness. I do recall, your brother Garrick was partial to nubile young ladies. They never refused even when they wanted to. Once he met his wife, he stopped. Hmmm, Maybe, I'll just take you to pay homage to the old days." He hissed as he scented her neck. For the first time since she was taken, Cantar was actually afraid. This man could ravage her, and she would not be able to stop him. Corliss felt her fear. Baby, we are coming. I promise. He sent. She heard him, but had to ignore what he said. Johannes had to think she was terrified. Johannes decided to kiss her and she shoved him away. "Get off of me you oaf. I would never want a man that is as disgusting as you. You are pathetic. Go fuck your wolf whore." She spat. He slapped here and down she fell. Cantar screamed as he covered her body with his. The she-wolf rushed in and saw red. She grabbed the angry vampire and pulled him away from the girl. "Johannes, have you gone mad? She has to remain untouched!" She reminded him. He collected himself and left the two women alone. Cantar lay on the floor where she had fallen, staring at the she-wolf. The girl glared at her, "He is mine, and money or not, I will kill you before you take him from me." She hissed. Cantar assessed the situation and reacted accordingly. She felt bad for the bitch, but not really. The man was a vampire and he had no soul. He was using her as a means to an end and she was too blind to see it. She also realized that if this wolf saw her as competition, she would make her stay most unpleasant. "Ashley, I have needs" Johannes called. As soon as the girl left, Cantar called Corliss. Are they still there? he answered immediately. Cantar, are you OK? he asked. I'm calling Gernick. Corliss, I love you...wait for me. she sent. Gernick, I don't have much time. Please listen. He is insane and the wolf seems to be his mate. She is extremely possessive. Her name is Ashley; his is Johannes. From what I can tell this was her parents' home. He sleeps with her, but they share no bond. He wants money. But he plans to kill me whether you pay or not. He is angry at mother and feels she cheated him, she sent. He put a collar on me and said that it is electromagnetic. If I vanish and leave the sensor will trigger and it will take my head, but I'm not sure if that is true. Cantar took a deep breath, she had to hold it together. He tried to force... Look, I can stall, but I'm not sure for how long. Gernick don't let her take the cub. Vince, his name is Vince. She hates him. Johannes shared his blood with him, that's why he was able to transport. Gernick was furious, and anger radiated from his body. Johannes would die, no mercy would be spared. He had to calm down, because as his anger grew, he could feel tension from Nicky, and she needed to stay calm. Cantar, we will find you. He will pay for this. Do not fear little sister. We are coming. he sent. Gernick, you promise you'll come? She sent. Yes, can you rest? We are coming. He sent. OK, Gernick, bring Corliss when you come. she whispered. Annoyed, Gernick glared at the young vampire that he wanted to dismiss, but his wife and his two sisters rallied around the young man. Fine, I will try. Cantar, we are coming. Keep us posted. He then closed off contact and shared the information she had shared with the group. Javon, the cub's name is Vince. His sister, Ashley, allowed the vampire to take him. See if he can tell you anything. He sent, and then realized he was speaking with his Alpha. Sorry, Javon, I meant no disrespect. But please help me find my sister. Gernick, it's OK. We can talk later. he sent. Now, let's find your sister "Love, what did Gernick want?" Elise asked as she held their daughter. Javon turned and kissed both their foreheads. "He wants to see if the cub can tell us anything. Elise, I wish we could do more. Who do you think can get the pup to open up?" he asked. Elise smiled, "Our kids because he trusts them. He'll talk to them." "Let's go." They walked to the kid's room , where the three boys were talking. "Hey boys, Vince, we need your help." The young wolf was terrified. "Please don't send me back to her. She lets him hurt me." He whimpered. Javon was furious. That man and the girl should die. "Vince, you will never have to go back to that again. I promise." Javon swore and the cub hugged him. He smiled as did Elise when the Alpha bond with the young cub formed. "Vince, did your parents have a cabin?" Elise asked. She kneeled beside the cub and her two older cubs curled up near him. "Yes, that's where we stayed until he took me to the vampires. He made me drink his blood, and then I could vanish. He killed Momma and Daddy, Ashley helped him!" The cub sobbed. Vince, do you know where the cabin is located? What state it is in?" Javon asked, although he was furious. They had to locate the cabin. "It's near the mountains. There was a lake and we lived alone, just the four of us." The cub explained. Cantar's Chaos Ch. 02 "Thank you Vince. You are a part of our family now and no one will ever hurt you again." Javon told the young cub as he hugged him. He and Elise left out and he contacted Gernick. Gernick, Vince said his parents had a cabin near mountains and a lake. They were not part of any pack. You need to find them; they murdered his parents. They will pay. Thank you Alpha. He sent in deference and respect. Javon was silent. Gernick paused. He sensed that Javon had something else to say. The bitch needs to die. She won't take him back. He's our son now. No worries, Javon. They both will pay. Gernick promised. He then noticed that Nicolette was extremely quiet. "Love, are you alright? You can go upstairs and rest. We will find Cantar." He promised. "Gernick, you promise?" she asked. "Yes, she has to be here to spoil Janine. Now I want you to rest." He added kissing her gently. Shari joined them and she and Brenwan walked her to her bedroom and helped her to lie down. "Shari, Brenwan, they have to find her." Nicky whispered. She knew what being taken felt like but for her it worked out. However, no one knew who had Cantar, what he was doing to her. She hated thinking about it because she could only imagine the worst. Cantar, be strong, love. We are coming Corliss sent. When they find them he would go too. Whether her brothers accepted him or not, he needed to make sure she was safe. All three teams had reported back from various locales, and it was determined that the finds were unsuccessful. Johannes Gallo was invisible, and could not be found. Kale, frustrated and distraught, threw a chair across the room smashing it. It was so unlike him to lose control that it scared Brenwan. She cried. His outburst shook the entire house, waking the children. Amerie arrived and checked on her daughter, and then quickly helped calm the babies. Brenwan went to her husband, and held him as he lost control. He could not lose his sister. She was innocent and had paid enough already. This man, this monster needed to die. All three teams were searching using the information that was collected from Vince, the wolf cub. They found it. The cabin had been located in a remote region deep inside the Appalachian mountain range. The exact location was given, and all three brothers along with Krill and Corliss vanished to the remote cabin. They arrived at the cabin and appeared but remained invisible. The five men spit up. Kale and Gernick found Johannes. Garrick and Krill found Ashley. Corliss found Cantar. She was sitting on the floor wondering why they were taking so long. Unable to resist, he appeared, but signaled for her to remain silent. Cantar leaped into his arms. It was then he noticed the thick collar. He had to take this monstrosity from her neck. He told her to let him check the collar. Finding the catch, he clicked it and just like that she was free. He sent to her brothers. I have her. He didn't know if they heard him, but he was taking her from this place. We're going back to Gernick's. Then he and Cantar vanished. The four brothers revealed themselves. Johannes knew that he was done. The she wolf wasn't as bright. She immediately pleaded innocence and said she was forced to serve him. But knowing what she allowed to happen to her brother, the vampires didn't listen. The four men grabbed both culprits and took them into the same room. As quick as a flash, Johannes grabbed Ashley. He knew they were dead. She thought he meant to defend her, when with a quick shove she landed on top of Gernick, he disappeared leaving her alone with three angry wolves. They were not letting him escape and Garrick grabbed him. Johannes vanished to his home where he and Cantar's older brother fought. Realizing he was losing, he taunted Garrick even more. His taunts incited Garrick's rage even more and Garrick ripped the vampire apart limb by limb. He made sure he died a slow excruciating death. The three vampires questioned the wolf. They wanted to know what had Johannes planned. The she-wolf was delirious. She was defending her mate. In her mind that's Johannes what he was. She knew he would die and she didn't want to live without him. She spoke of Cantar, and how she and Johannes planned to use her before killing her. Gernick ordered the bitch to stop, but the she-wolf continued spewing her vile poison at him. He learned through her that many others vampire and werewolf alike hated their family. He asked about Vince, and the vile words that came from her mouth, infuriated the vampire. Both Kale and Krill had to hold him back. Some of the other vampires had arrived and they secured the she-wolf. Krill called Javon, and Javon called the Alpha of that region. The wolves collected the she-wolf. When the pack arrived she attacked and they had no choice but to put her down. It was over. Cantar was safe, and the enemy for now vanquished. Gernick faced Krill and made a request. "I need to address our people. We will no longer pay for Esmeralda's crimes. We are not at fault. This attack on my sister was unprovoked." Krill agreed. Gernick, are you alright? Please son, answer me/ Claus called. He felt the surge of anger through the bond he shared with Gernick, and he had to intervene. Dad, I'm OK. I just need my family. I need my wife and kids. Gernick replied Come home. It's over. Claus sent, and he meant it. He joined the council to protect them. It was time to do his job. All four men vanished back to Kale's home and cleaned up. Then they returned to Gernick's where their wives surrounded Cantar and Corliss. Seeing that male holding their sister so possessively set all three brother's on edge. Krill was glad she was OK. He hugged her and apologized because he had someone else he needed to see. Within minutes, he was standing outside of Samaria's apartment, trying to figure out how to get her to listen to him. He knocked and she opened the door. Her cheeks were red and flushed and he knew she'd been crying. He also knew he was the cause. He said three words that made her slam her door in his face. "Sammie, I'm sorry." BLAM! CLICK! Krill sighed. This would be harder than he thought. Thank you all for reading. Please vote and comment. Cantar's Chaos Ch. 03 Hello, Welcome back to my world of werewolves and vampire. This is the fifth story in the She Wolf series. I hope you all enjoy it. This is the very last chapter. I hope you enjoy it. So sit back, read and then relax. This chapter continues the story line from Ivanovs chapter seven. Thanks to Overstar for editing and revising. Any errors found are not a reflection on this gentleman. IR2R * The demise of Johannes Gallo spread throughout the vampire community. The message was clear. Fuck with the Ivanovs and die. Gernick arrived at home, and saw Corliss embracing his kid sister, before he could protest. Nicky came to him and hugged him. She was thanking him for bringing Cantar home. The sight of his wife crying took his mind off of his sister. He vaguely remembered Krill speaking to the young man, as he noticed both Kale and Garrick were holding their wives as well. He turned to face Cantar, but she was watching the young man. That wasn't what made him pause. It was the look of reverence on the man's face as he stared at his sister. His love for Cantar was obvious. Who was he to deny her that? Gernick paused and looked at his brothers. The other two nodded their acceptance of this. For now, they'd leave them be. But in a few days, they were vetting that young man. "I knew you would get it. I'm proud of you." A voice said behind him. Claus was there. Amerie was checking Nicky and his Dad hugged him. Amerie was extremely upset when she learned of this latest attack. She came to her daughter as soon as she could. She was relieved that Cantar had been returned, but mainly concerned about Nicolette. Nicky was pregnant and having gone through a difficult pregnancy with her first child, she didn't need this stress. So as Claus was checking on Gernick, Amerie checked on her daughter. "Momma, I'm fine. The baby is fine. How are you?" Nicky asked. She missed her Mom, but since she'd moved to Asia, Nicky was standing more on her own. She realized that she had grown even more. Amerie answered. "I am fine. I'm looking forward to visiting for a few weeks when Janine gets here." She smiled. I was worried about you though. Stress is not good." She pointed out. Nicky nodded, and answered truthfully. "I'll admit I was so scared for her. I know what being taken feels like, but she's OK. And from the looks of things she has a husband. I'm sure they will join in the next week. I'm relieved and happy for her Momma." Then she chuckled. "I feel bad for her brothers though." Amerie was confused, "Why?" Brenwan joined them. "Her brothers picked Thomas Macavi to be her husband, and they hate being wrong. I like Corliss, and we will have to stick up for him." Amerie nodded, and smiled as understanding dawned. "Ladies, believe me Cantar will straighten out her brothers. From what I have seen of her, she can get all three under control when she has too." She added. They grinned. "Hey, where's Krill?" Kale asked Garrick. As he was holding Shari. "He left. I hope everything is OK."Garrick answered ***** Meanwhile Krill was standing in the hallway at Samaria's apartment. She just slammed the door in his face and locked it. Hell, she's mad as hell, anyway, he thought. I might as well go in. He reappeared in her apartment. "What in the hell are you doing? You can't just barge into my home. Get out Krill. You made yourself clear to me earlier." Samaria screamed, as her favorite mug struck the wall behind him. The mug was followed by a saucer, coaster, her shoe, just anything she could get her hands on. Krill ducked and dodged each and every item she flung at him. He actually smiled. This was the woman he loved. Samaria was glorious when she lost her temper, and he looked forward to making her go off at him for the rest of their lives. All he had to do was convince her to take him back. She walked away from him, and his wolf heritage rose. His wolf heritage rarely asserted itself, but he wanted to claim his mate. This revelation confirmed his belief that they belonged together. She was still screaming and throwing things at him, and he realized he needed to stop her tirade. With inhuman speed he moved to her side. He wrapped his arms around her and held her close. She resisted. "Let go of me. Krill let me go." She struggled. "I'm sorry. Samaria, if I could change things I would go back and do things differently. I hate that you got hurt, but I am here to ask for another chance." Krill explained. Her struggles lessened. Then she remembered the pain, humiliation she suffered because of him. She was young, but not as cultured or slender as other girls. However, he spent hours talking to her. She fell for him, but then he joined his friends and she heard the fat jokes. She saw him laugh with them, and knew they were talking about her. He looked right at her, and not once did he apologize. He acted as if she was invisible. He chose to be like them. "I have loved you since I first saw you over a century ago. You made fun of me. You had a choice and you chose the vampire council. I would have done any and everything for you Krill, and you knew it. I don't understand why you treated me that way. And after all these years, you show up at my job yesterday to threaten me. Why? I didn't deserve that. You think "I'm sorry "erases over a century of pain and humiliation. No. I wish you the best. I'm glad Ms. Ivanov is safe. She is the one that's important, right. Now, please leave my home." She ordered. Krill took a breath and sat down. "No, I'm not going. I fucked up, and I admit that. I should have waited and approached you when I was in a better space. I was out fighting and defending my family. No one knew that my brothers were werewolves. I had to protect them. So when I met you, I was at a bad time." He had to get through to her. She had to listen. "I had just found mother and learned that she'd been severely abused. I learned that my Aunt was the one that hurt her. Her husband was on the council, and she was actively involved with it. I needed to get close to her to make her pay." He inhaled, and looked at her. "Samaria, I was three when Momma was taken. She hid me and I saw them beat her. Then they vanished. I searched for my mother for centuries. She was so dejected when I found her. Those men did... I don't want to recall that, but my mother was severely damaged, and I had to care for her. In my mind, back then, I was focused on making Aunt Essie pay. I came to see you when I could get away from them, but I couldn't explain everything then. I thought-," Samaria stopped him. Her heart broke for him, but she held strong. She had to resist the urge to comfort him. "You lie. You could have told me this then. I would never have exposed your secret. That wasn't the problem. The one night we went out, I heard the remarks. I heard what people said to you. You were ashamed to be seen with me, and that's alright. I know I'm not a beauty queen, but I won't allow anyone to treat me the way you did." She walked away from him. "So, Krill, thank you, but no thanks. You know your way out." She turned and faced him; he could not say anything. She was right. His actions over a century ago were uncalled for. " Sammie, you are right. I am sorry, but I ask that you give me a chance to show you that I have changed. The way I have treated you is abominable, but I ask that you reconsider. Just don't say no. I don't have the right to ask, but give me a chance. Give me a chance to prove to you that I care and we can have a life together. That's all I ask, unless you are afraid. Are you?" He whispered. She turned and glared at him. "You hurt me." Closing her eyes and turning away she whispered, "I'd be a fool to let you hurt me again." "If you give me a chance, I will never treat you the way I did before." Krill vowed. Samaria shook her head, "No, burn me once, and you won't get a second chance. Good bye Krill. Please, just go." She whispered. Krill nodded. "I'll leave, but this is not over." He vanished back to his home. Alone in his home, he cried. He hurt her and she had the right to refuse him, but it didn't lessen the pain. He recalled the time. He had found his mother, and she had a hard time adjusting. He learned of Esmeralda's connection to the council. He had to join the council. He'd also just met her. She captivated him, but the council members were cruel and he wanted to fit in. So when they made those hateful remarks, he laughed. He began to court council members, and began to earn a name amongst them. They went out one night and they saw some of the members. He knew what they thought of her, so he spoke to them and pretended she was not his date. When the other men left, he tried to apologize, but she just wanted to go home. She vanished. Manson learned of her, and was appalled at him for how he treated her that night. They actually came to blows. Ma broke up the fight. Manson called him an idiot, and told him he'd regret that decision. He was right, but right then he had to push her out of his thoughts. Overtime he and Manson talked. They reunited and he loved his brother. He was sitting in his living room, when Lars and the twins popped in. "Krill, we sensed something is wrong. What is it?" Lars asked. Krill stood and walked away, wiping away his tears. "It's fine. Cantar is safe and everything worked out." He answered. His brothers were there when he hurt Sammie all those year ago. But he wasn't ready then, so he was right to let her go. "Who is it? Who has hurt you?" It didn't matter. They would find the culprit. "Don't lie to us, Krill." Terse stated. "It's who I hurt. I saw Sammie. She refuses to forgive me." Krill whispered. His brothers were silent. They knew how Krill felt about that woman, and they understood how he felt. "Is there anything we can do?" Phillip asked. "No, I'll be alright. Thanks guys." Krill answered. "I just need some time that's all." ***** The women were so glad Cantar was back. They each held her and cried. Eventually, they let go and she spent the rest of her time being held by Corliss. She talked with the council members about her ordeal, and then her brothers and cousin returned. Krill checked on her and Corliss and then he had to leave suddenly. He was gone quite a while and everyone was tired and about to go home. As soon as Brenwan was ready to leave, Nicky moaned. Gernick was instantly alerted. "Baby, are you hurting?" he asked. At first Nicky denied that she was hurting, and dismissed it as lack of rest. Brenwan and Kale postponed leaving and asked Petra to watch Kalen a bit longer. Garrick and Shari did the same. They kept talking, when Nicky gasped loudly. That was all Gernick needed to hear. Gernick lifted his wife and they rushed to the compound. Everyone followed, and waited anxiously for their niece to arrive. Nicky's labor was intense but three hours later, Janie Amerie Ivanov was welcomed into the world by her overanxious father and exhausted mother. Her birth was so different from Jonathan's and Gernick never left her side. A part of him recalled his fear of losing his wife and child, but today counteracted those feelings. Soon, everyone came in to see Nicky and the baby. They congratulated the new daddy. As Nicky was talking with family, Gernick vanished back home. Jonathan was with Petra, and he needed to hold his son. He described his daughter to their nanny, Petra. She congratulated him as he chattered on and on about his daughter. She was watching the other babies, but he took Jonathan to the hospital to meet his new sister. Jonathan didn't like the new baby and complained that she was too little to play with. He wanted Theo. Everyone laughed and Gernick hugged him tighter. Nina took him home and he and Theo had fun playing all night. Cantar visited with her family, but soon she wanted to go home. She wanted time with Corliss. She told Brenwan they were leaving and she'd check in later in the week. They vanished back to her home in Nashville. Corliss was quiet. She was his wife, but he had nothing to give her. He was a servant in her home. For her to agree to be with him would cause her to be humiliated. He needed to think. "Cantar, I am glad you are safe. I will go now and let you-." Cantar caught his arm. "What is wrong? Corliss, I don't get it?" He dropped his head. "I have waited my whole life for you. But I can't take care of you. You should have a husband that can provide for you and any children that are born. I am a servant. I will always be that. I know your brothers do not approve, and they are right." He exhaled. "I told them if you came back safely, I would go. I will keep my word to them." "What about what I need?" Cantar asked. "Corliss, do I get a say in what I want? You are mine, and I can't let you walk out of my life. Be with me, love me, and after if you still want to go, I won't stop you." "Cantar, I love you, but I'm not good enough." He exhaled. "Your friends will ridicule you. I hate the thought of women like the ones before saying..." he stopped. Cantar was done talking. He was hers, and tonight she was making love to him. "Corliss, stop, kiss me." She whispered as she moved to stand before him, and he lost himself in her taste. "Corliss, I'm yours, make me yours she whispered. His resistance was gone, and he carried her to her bedroom. Slowly they undressed before each other, marveling at the sight of each other. Soon they were naked. Cantar took in every sinewy inch of her mate. His broad chest, strong thighs, cut abdomen, and the thick member that extended from a thick patch if dark hair made Cantar's body yearn for him. Corliss admired her beauty as well, and then shyly he kissed her, taking time to taste her skin. "Corliss, baby, um, it's been a while and we can go slow the next time. I promise." Cantar whispered, as he chuckled. "Quiet wife, I have no desire to hear of any other man." He griped, biting her neck. Cantar's pussy was drenched and swollen waiting to be filled, and it seemed her husband wanted to take his time. Soon he was kissing her stomach. Soon he was at her hot, molten center. Spreading her legs, Corliss used his tongue and teased her love button endlessly. He moaned as he tasted her, and wondered how he would walk away. Soon he dipped his tongue into her honeypot and her juices coated his tongue. Cantar was awashed in sensation and completed captured under his spell. He licked her pussy and drank the nectar of her flower. She came all over his tongue and he lapped the juices freely. Cantar cried out, begging him to stop and then begging him to not stop. Soon she needed him. She needed him inside and she told him so. "Corliss, I want you to love me. Come inside me please," she whimpered. He stopped, because he realized that when he made love to her, he loved her he would mark her, she would become his wife." Cantar noticed his hesitation. "What?" she asked. He was honest, "If we do this, I will mark you. I will take you as my wife. Cantar, if you don't want this, we need-? She was kissing him and pushing him onto his back, as she straddled his body. Sliding her hot sheath over his hardened mass, Cantar groaned. And then she rode her mate, Corliss forgot to think. He forgot his protest or his reasons. He could only feel. He was so close and she was riding him fiercely, "Corliss, I need to, please let me mark you she whimpered, and he could not refuse her. She bit him and he roared, within seconds, he reversed their positing and found himself riding her hard between her thighs. He needed to taste her, "Cantar, please don't regret this, and he gave in and marked his wife. Cantar came, her pussy massaging his cock, pushing him into a glorious climax at the end. "Mmmmm, well wife, are you OK, I didn't hurt you, did I?" Corliss asked, concerned. "I am fine, Husband. Then she sighed, my husband, my life, Corliss, this is good. This is right." She whispered. He held her then, "I hope your brothers agree." He joked, but she knew he was really concerned. "Corliss, I chose you. This is what matters." She explained as she caressed his cheek. "The guy, the scientist, he has everything I don't. They chose him for you." He explained. Cantar laughed and he was startled. "Yes, my brothers love Thomas, but I love you. You Corliss Darksky are mine, my husband." He smiled and hugged her tightly. "Well wife, your husband has needs." She giggled as she took care of her amorous spouse. The next morning, they awoke together, and Corliss realized he had no clothes. He quickly dressed and was about to vanish back to his apartment. As he was leaving, Cantar grabbed his arm and said, I'm going too." Within seconds they were at his small home. However, he had a very agitated guest waiting. "Well, little brother, I guess congratulations are in order." Corliss quickly moved to stand between his wife and his brother. "Christophe, why are you here?" he demanded. "We were worried about you. Mother and father want you to come home. However, since you've taken the b-" Corliss growled, "Watch it, brother." "I'm sorry, the girl, I will inform them." He stated but before he vanished she spoke. Corliss was so tense, Cantar wrapped her arms around his waist. "I don't want to give you up. Since Mother hurt all these people, I have paid. For once I want a little piece of happiness for myself. Do you need me to stay a secret from them?" Christophe froze, "This girl loved his brother. He could hear it in her tone. See it in her body language. She was willing to hide from his family if that was what he needed her to do. He watched for a moment. Corliss held his wife and said. "Cantar, you are my wife. No one is more important to me than you. No you will not hide." "Christophe if you cannot accept her, then I will walk away. But I will not abandon my wife." He declared. "Corliss, I won't come between you and your family. I love you, and I won't be the reason they shove you away." She whispered, as she held him. Her body trembled, and Christophe noticed. Mother, he has joined with her. She is his wife. Can you and father accept her? Christophe sent. Did she manipulate him, trick him? Mother demanded. No mother, she did not, he answered. "Brother, you need to bring your bride home to meet our parents." Christophe informed him. Corliss was scared. He didn't want to take her there. He couldn't protect her if it was a trap, so they'd both be hurt, because he'd die defending her. "Corliss, I know I've been dishonest in the past. I swear on all we hold dear that no one will come against your wife, but you know you need to present her to our parents." Christophe explained. Corliss held her close. "We will come, but not today. I will be in touch, alright." He explained. Cantar spoke, "Can your parents come here? They are welcomed in my home and that way you can rest assure that I am safe." "OK, I will tell them. Corliss despite everything I have done, I am happy for you." Christophe stated and then he left. Cantar hugged him and promised it would be alright. "Hey, it will be OK. Look, let's plan the party for your parents. I can call Kyra to help." But Corliss was silent. He wanted to reconcile with his parents but not at the cost of his wife. He kissed her, and she stopped talking. "Cantar, we will set the time for the meeting. Not them. My mother said some things, and I won't forget..., but out of respect I will honor them. However, they will not disrespect you, or our union." Cantar smiled, and placed her arms around his neck. "Love, you are my husband. You set the tone, OK. I want you to remember that when you deal with my brothers alright," she laughed. "Now, Mr. Darksky, Mrs. Darksky needs a tour of your bedroom." She turned seductively and whispered, "Race you." And dashed off. Corliss quickly forgot why he'd come home and took off after his wife. Cantar's Chaos Ch. 03 Corliss was slightly embarrassed by his small bed, but soon Cantar managed to take his mind off of the bed and everything else. To make her husband forget his worries, she would drop an article of clothing with each step. By the time she reached the bedroom, she was completely naked. Corliss loved her body, and knowing she belonged to him made him even more excited. He stripped and lay in his twin size bed with his wife on top of him. She rubbed her pussy against his hard cock, but he didn't want to love her yet. There was one more fantasy that he had, and this time he would get his wish. "Cantar, wait. Let me taste you." He whispered. She moaned as he gently rolled pinning her beneath him. He kissed his way down her body, until he reached the apex of her thighs. Pressing his nose to her womanhood, Corliss inhaled her scent, and licked her. Cantar moaned. Corliss then made love to his wife with his tongue. He ate her pussy until she was a quivering ball of nerves. She begged him to stop, and then begged him to go on. Cantar lost count of the numbers of time she came on his tongue. She knew her husband was talented, but her man was a master with his tongue. Replete and exhausted, Cantar vowed to bring him to his knees later, after she rested. His alarm sounded. "Fuck, baby, I have to work." He sighed. Cantar laughed. She wrapped her arms around his neck. "Baby, your boss can give you the day off." She teased. Corliss stiffened and turned serious, "No, I have to work. I have to support us." He explained. Cantar smiled, and then she kissed him. "OK, let's dress then." They returned to her house. "Um, baby, whatever happened to Thomas?" she asked. Corliss humped his shoulders, "Maybe he went home. Let's check his room." The two vanished to the room Thomas stayed in, and found the surprise of their lives. "Oh God! Cantar, I didn't know you were back. I can explain." Thomas yelled as he moved to cover both his body and that of his companion. The girl was mortified. Cantar stammered and looked away. Cantar was shocked, as was Corliss. "Meet me in the library, both of you," she demanded. Five minutes later, Thomas and the young lady arrived in the library where Cantar and Corliss were waiting. No one spoke at first. This girl was not the type of girl she expected to find with Thomas. Thomas was always straight-laced, serious. Thomas did not have a hair out of place. The girl was covered in piercings and tattoos. Her purple hair definitely stood out, but she could tell she fascinated her friend. Cantar thought about Corliss, and chuckled. Most would find it odd that she was in love with a regular guy and not a wealthy businessman. So Thomas's wife was right for Thomas, just like Corliss was perfect for her. Her brothers might be ticked, but she and her friend deserved to be happy too. She hoped that she and the young woman could become friends. After staring at each other for a few minutes, Cantar hugged her friends, and said. "How could you not tell me? I am so happy for you. Well, aren't you going to introduce us?" Thomas laughed relieved. "Cantar, this is Diamond," he smiled as he held her by her waist. "We've been together for seven months. Last night when everyone vanished, I called her and she came. I would have said something sooner, but your brothers scare me. I know they planned for us to marry. I was hoping you met your-," and then he noticed Corliss. Cantar was standing in her husband's embrace. Corliss held her close from behind as he listened to her talk with her friend. They all stood talking as Cantar introduced her true love.. "This is my husband, Corliss. Corliss, this is my friend Thomas Macavi and his wife, Diamond." Then she laughed. "We need to celebrate." Corliss kissed her. Someone cleared their throat. Mrs. Manuel stood looking at Corliss. "Mr. Darksky, in my office, now!" she demanded. Cantar didn't like the way she addressed her husband, so she excused herself from the room and she needed to be with him in the head housekeeper's office. "Thomas, Diamond, I'll call and we can set up a party." Thomas wrapped his arm around his wife and smiled. Diamond replied, "OK, call us." They vanished back home. She went to Mrs. Manuel's office. Mrs. Manuel was ready to rip Corliss a new one when Cantar walked in. As she entered, she received a white envelope from another worker. She opened it and read it. Samaria Menes, her top researcher resigned, effective immediately. "Mrs. Manuel, Corliss, excuse me. I need to call my brothers" she said as she vanished back to her office. Corliss, concerned for his wife, followed along with Mrs. Manuel. After speaking with two other reserchers, she called Samaria. "Samaria, good morning, this is Cantar Ivanov. I received a letter of resignation from you. Can you explain what's going on?" She asked. Samaria explained to her that due to her negligence her safety was compromised. Therefore, it was best she resigned. Cantar was shocked. Where was this coming from? But Samaria bid her good day and disconnected. She then called Kale to see if he knew what was going on. His answer was unsatisfying, but he mentioned Krill was acting strangely and he did talk with a researcher. She hang up and called her cousin. After two rings he answered, "Krill what did you say to Samaria? She quit, and I know you did something." She accused. ***** Krill didn't sleep. All he could think about was Samaria. He hurt her, and he had to make it up to her. He didn't know how, because she wanted nothing to do with him. He decided to go to Gernick and check on Nicky and her new daughter. He missed the birth, but he wanted to welcome the newest family member. He appeared at Gernick's home. "Congratulations old man, a daughter huh?" He teased. Gernick laughed, but he noticed that something was off with his cousin. He played along. "The room is full of women. Enter at your own risk." His brothers laughed. Krill went into Nicky's bedroom to see her and the baby. "Something is wrong with Krill." Gernick observed. "Last night he disappeared. It may have something to do with his mood." Kale asserted. "Well ladies. I assume I have another angel to protect." Krill announced as he entered. Brenwan and Shari laughed and embraced him as Nicky held her daughter close. Krill sat beside her and the babe and spoke. "Whew, thank goodness she looks like you. I was afraid she'd look like Gernick, blech" he teased. Nicky laughed "Krill, what is it? What's wrong?" she asked. He was pretending to be jovial, but he was hurting. "Nothing, beautiful. Well, it seems that the council is on break and I'm going to check in on Ma and Pa for a few days. Will you keep these boys out of trouble?" Nicky smiled and nodded, but she still didn't buy it. "Krill you can talk to us. Maybe we can help." Nina felt his pain, her wolf connected with his, and she understood what he was going through. His wolf was in distress, and she shared a looked with Nicky. Nicky knew, she too sensed the depth of despair he felt. He kissed her forehead and said, "You can't fix this. I'll be OK," then he hugged the others and left. Nicky, let me stop him. Maybe I can help. Nina sent. Please try Nina let him know we understand, and are here. She sent. Nina nodded and quickly followed Krill out. Brenwan, Shari, and Amerie knew they shared something, and Shari wanted to know what was going on. "I'm not sure. Krill's wolf is troubled, and Nina and I sensed it." She explained. Nina followed him and called his name. He turned, and she spoke. "Give her time. You hurt her, but she loves you. She's your mate and you cannot give up." "How? Look Nina, it's not your concern, but thanks." He answered curtly. "The wolf inside of you is hurting and he will keep hurting until you fix this. I can sense him and feel his pain Krill. You cannot ignore him. He needs her or you will lose him." She sighed. "I lost my wolf for 25 years. When I lost Benson, it devastated me. My kids and Nicky are the reasons I survived, but I am happy now." She walked up to him and touched his cheek. "I don't think your mate is dead, so that means you need to fight for her." "Nina, what I did was... She wants nothing to do with me." He explained. "I need to respect her wishes." He turned and walked away. Gernick stopped him. "Krill, let us help." Tears formed and he whispered, "You can't." He then vanished. His cousins were concerned. They'd only known him a short time, but something big had happened. Gernick picked up his phone and called Kim. "Hey Kim, is Manson around?" Manson answered, and he described Krill's behavior. Manson hung up and told Kim he needed to check on something. He vanished home where his brothers were, and they told him that Krill had talked with Samaria and she refused him. Manson cursed. He knew that girl was hurt, but at the time he could not get his brother to listen. Krill appeared and was surprised to see Manson. One look at him and he knew someone called. He was about to attack when Manson told him Gernick called. Krill simply said I want to check on our parents. Ma and Pa were glad to see him and covered him with affection. Eugenia was overjoyed as well. Krill told them of Janine's birth and Cantar's kidnapping. He didn't mention Samaria. He decided to stay overnight, not wanting to return to his empty home. But with the mood he was in, he did not need to be around anyone. So after visiting with his family, he decided to go home. His mother lived with him, but he asked her to stay with Ma and Pa tonight. Eugenia hesitated, but agreed to let him be. She could tell that he needed time alone. It was late, and Kale called, worried by his remoteness. Then Cantar called, and she was ticked. "What did you say to Samaria? She quit. She won't tell me what you did Krill? I know you did something." She fumed. "Wait, she quit. Is she leaving?" he asked. "I don't know, but you'd better fix this." She demanded. But all she heard was dead air. Krill was gone. He vanished into Samaria's apartment where she too was dressed for bed. "Krill, you cannot keep popping into my apartment." She yelled. She was so mad at him, and then he shows up, half naked, muscular torso, and his gorgeous hair hanging freely. Her body wanted him, and she knew he could scent her desire. She could not hide it. She was aroused, and he knew it. He advanced and then pulled her into his arms and kissed her. She didn't even pretend to resist as she surrendered to her need for him. Lifting her into his arms, he discovered that beneath her night shirt she was naked, wet, and willing. The heat of her sex perfumed the room, and nothing would stop him from loving her in that moment. He didn't even bother removing his pants, just pushing them down. He entered her is one hot swift motion. Her entire body stiffened on his intrusion. Gently, Krill held her as instinctively her legs encircled his waist as he rode between her thighs. She fit him perfectly, like a glove. He was not letting this woman go. She could smack him every day if she needed to, but he could not let go. He kissed her, nibbling her neck as she lost herself in the feeling. A part of him, his wolf demanded that he mark her. His vampire wanted the same, but he had to ask. Sliding in and out of her body, Krill uttered, "Let me taste you, please Samaria." She froze. Vampires would often drink from each other during sex, that was not unusual. His request was, however. "Samaria, please." He begged, her brain screamed NO!, but her heart and lips whispered Yes!, and then he bit the one spot that would mark her as his, his wife. Samaria's body convulsed at his bite, and he pleaded with her to taste him in return. She could no longer resist, and she did. With her bite, Krill shoved her into a climatic abyss that he soon followed her into. He held her close and kissed where she had been marked. Neither spoke. Soon, Samaria moved to get up, but krill held he against him. "Please, baby don't leave me. Please, Sammie, don't." Samaria realized he was actually crying. She froze. "Krill, what is it?" she asked. For him to cry, it must be something huge. She needed to comfort him. So she tried to soothe him as he spoke. "I love you. You have no idea how hard it was to walk away all those years ago, but I had to. I was messed up. But I'm better now. I can be a good husband for you. I can be a father to our children. Just please, don't leave." He pleaded. With a love so strong, so pure, Samaria held her husband. Despite everything, she loved this man. They had some things to work through, but they'd do so together. "Krill, it will be OK." She whispered "I'm here." She held him and he slept holding her so close, so tight. Samaria smiled, and snuggled into the arms of her new husband. ***** Corliss and Mrs. Manuel waited as Cantar concluded her business. It was obvious to her manager that something was going in here. Cantar hung up, and faced Mrs. Manuel. "Mrs. Manuel, Corliss and I have joined. He is my husband and I accepted him. I know it may cause problems, so how do you want to handle this?" Cantar asked. Mrs. Manuel looked at Corliss and smiled, "Well, I knew there was something about you. Congratulations, we can advertise for a maintenance worker." She stated. "Mrs. Manuel, No, please, take me off of payroll, but I will still do the job." Corliss explained. There was no need to pay someone to do a job he was capable of.. Mrs. Manuel nodded and agreed. She then went back to work. Cantar hugged her husband and kissed him. "Baby, I have to find a new researcher. Let me get to work." Corliss smiled, "I need to report to Mrs. Manuel." Corliss reported for his assignment, but Mrs. Manuel hesitated and everyone left. "Mrs. Manuel, you did not give me a list." He complained. "Mr. Darksky, you are now her husband. I will not treat you like a regular employee." She explained. Corliss sat, and looked at the older woman. "Mrs. Manuel, I am a servant. That is what I am. I refuse to be here and not work. I signed on and until I find something else, I will work to support her." Mrs. Manuel smiled, "Ok." She pulled out his list, and gave it to him. "Here are your assignments. You are still on payroll." Corliss went to work. Soon everyone knew he and Cantar were joined. A few tried to tease him, but he was steadfast. He joined his wife on his break, and she was working on foundation stuff. "Hey, can you take a break?" he asked as he appeared. "Yes, " Cantar answered launching herself at her husband. She kissed him, as Gernick popped in. "OK, enough slobbering on my kid sister." he chastised Corliss, and they separated. "You haven't been to see Nicky and the children." He chastised. Cantar, looked at her brother with a smirk, she stated, "Gernick, we've been busy." She giggled circling Corliss's waist. Corliss was nervous, because he wasn't sure what to expect. Gernick smiled and said, "Come visit, and bring our new brother." He added. "Oh, Corliss, we're not done. But for now you get a reprieve." He added. Then he hugged and kissed his sister's temple. Corliss exhaled. "He scares the shit out of me. Cantar, if your brothers don't approve. What does..." She silenced him with a kiss. "I love my brothers, but I'm in love with my husband. I chose you Corliss. I will always choose you." She whispered. Corliss held her close and he whispered, "I love you, Cantar." Soon his break ended and he returned to work. The day ended, and usually he would go to his apartment, but tonight he was staying here with his wife. This house was lovely, and he admired it. But a part of him wanted to provide shelter for her. He knew she deserved a mansion, and right now he couldn't afford that, but he wondered would she mind living in a smaller apartment. Mrs. Manuel left but before leaving she spoke with Corliss. He impressed her, and she had to convey that message. Corliss thanked her. Then as he and Cantar talked, she asked about inviting his parents. "Actually Corliss, I want to go to them. If they don't want me there I can leave, but I want to meet them sooner, rather than later." She explained. Corliss was nervous. He remembered his mother kicking him out, and Christophe's anger. "Corliss, let's go now, tonight." Cantar suggested. Corliss froze. She had to know how his family felt about her. So he confessed. "Cantar they hate you because of your mother. She killed our sister, poisoned her. My family blames you all for allowing her to run wild over the vampire nation and then doing nothing to stop her. My brother planned to take you, but I realized you were my wife and I did everything to convince him not to. He didn't but the hatred of your mother placed you in harm's way. In all honesty, my family may reject this union, but that does not matter to me. I love you Cantar. You are my life." He whispered. "How did she kill your sister?" she asked, "Corliss, how?" She demanded. But fearing she knew. Corliss refused to answer at first. "She was a practicing midwife, and she gave her a drink." Corliss exhaled, because he could feel her anxiety increase. Cantar sat down, he sat beside her and pulled her into his embrace. "Finish," she demanded. "I think you know what happened." He whispered. "The child?" she asked. "She died with my sister. Henry took his life that same night. My family never contacted the foundation, because money cannot replace everything she took Cantar. That was why Christophe wanted to take you from your brothers. I don't know how my parents will react, but I will defend you with my last breath. What your mother did is not your fault." He added emphatically, holding her tightly. "Corliss, no wonder so many people hate me. But I didn't know she was... As soon as I realized she was sick, I acted. I'm sorry she did this. I understand why your family hates me, and I won't subject them to my presence. I will stay away, but I can't give you up. You are the only good thing that has come from this mess for me. My brothers have their families and I am happy for them. But I look like her. You are the first man that looks at me and doesn't see my mother. Even my brothers see her. Let's go and let me meet them. If they cannot accept me, I will stay away, but please don't put me out of your life." She pleaded. Corliss agreed. Within seconds, Corliss and his wife appeared at his parents' home. Chris was sitting working in a puzzle when his youngest appeared with his bride. "Corliss, you came back." He was so relieved. His mother walked in, and she just hugged him and cried. "I'm so sorry for what I said that day. I was just so upset. I'm sorry, son. Please forgive me." She pleaded. "Momma, it's OK. I forgive you. I want you to meet someone." Corliss placed his hand on Cantar's waist. "Mother, father, this is my wife, Cantar. She is the better half of me. Cantar, these are my parents." He paused. His mother stared at the girl. She looked so much like her mother. She opened her mouth to speak when she noticed the scar on her neck. Curiously, she reached up and touched that scar, and Cantar pulled away. Her husband stood behind her, and she faced this girl and asked. "Did you do this to yourself?" Cantar looked down. She did not answer. Corliss, was curious, but he never asked. He realized that he also needed to know. Cantar looked at her husband, and bravely answered, "No, I didn't." "What happened?" His mother pressed. Cantar looked at his parents. She looked at Corliss. No one outside of her family knew what really happened that night. The vampire nation was aware that her mother tried to kill her, but they did not know how. She reached for Corliss's hand and looked at him. She blocked the memories, but now she knew she had to share them with theses people. They had to know she suffered at her mother's hands as well. Until she connected, the resentment would fester. Before she spoke, Christophe arrived. He knew something major was happening, so he stood quietly. Cantar's Chaos Ch. 03 "My mother wanted to have my oldest brother killed, so she wanted to set him up. She came to me before she died and demanded answers to questions I could not answer." She stood and moved away from her husband. Wrapping her arms around herself to self-comfort herself , she continued. "I learned that she was poisoning father, and that she'd poisoned me and my brother's wives as well. She told me some things, but I stayed strong and didn't tell what my brother's had planned. My mother was extremely powerful, and she could control someone's actions. She decided that I needed to die to fuel father's hatred of Gernick, and she ordered me to kill myself. I fought, so she sliced my neck for me. She stayed with me until I was almost gone and then she left. My brother, Garrick came, and his actions saved my life. It was then my brothers agreed that she had to die. They let everyone believe I killed myself to protect me from her. So a week after I almost bled to death, all three of my brothers faced the council and exposed her for the murderer that she was. She went insane, and tried to kill my brother, Kale. Daddy collapsed and she was exposed. My cousin, Krill, took her head. I saw my mother die. The next day, I lost my father." She then faced the four people in that room, "I look like her, but I am not my mother. I have done everything I can to rectify the damage she has caused. I know money won't fix everything, but I'm trying. Corliss told me about his sister, and I am so sorry. I wish I had figured her out sooner, but she was my mother I had no idea how depraved she really was." She sobbed, and Corliss had to hold her then. His mother's heart broke for her. No child could carry that type of guilty. Chris and Christophe were angry, but the bitch was dead. Corliss' mother hugged her, and she whispered, "Daughter, you are not to blame. We welcome you into our family." Cantar hugged her mother and cried. Soon the tears stopped and Corliss just held her close. Christophe was extremely quiet, but he had one questions. "Have your brothers accepted him?" he asked. Cantar laughed, "Yes, they haven't told him yet. But you need to be worried Christophe, my brothers will still want to kick your ass for wanting to take me. Don't let them scare you. If they get too rough, I'll intervene." Everyone except Christophe laughed. It was late and they needed to return home. Corliss asked that they go to his apartment. When they arrived, they made love once more, but Cantar knew he was bothered. She had an idea why. "Corliss, I am your wife. I live with you. In all honesty, I really don't have a home. That's not my house, it's Nicky's. If you want to live here we can. If you want to stay there we can. You are my husband, and I know you will provide for me and any children we may have. Stop worrying about money and status, I'm not." She assured him. The next morning they returned to Nicky's home and had three visitors. "Good morning Sis, we want to spend time with our new brother. Corliss," Kale ordered. "You're coming with us." Then all four men vanished. ***** Krill awoke with Samaria tucked safely under his chin. She felt so soft, and so lovey. She was exactly what he desired in a woman, voluptuous and strong. She felt inadequate, because she was larger, but to Krill Kelvic, her curves made her even more desirable. So desirable, that he wondered if he could love her again without waking her. They were already naked. If he moved her leg, slid forward, he could slip inside of her so easily and he did, but she moaned, and he knew she was not asleep. "Fuck, Krill" she hissed. He smiled, "That's what I'm doing wife. I'm glad you are awake to enjoy it. Samaria moaned as her husband loved her from behind, but something sifted, and he needed more. He stopped, "Samaria, on your knees." he ordered, she froze, but his tone implied no resistance. So as an obedient wife, she complied and Krill entered her from behind and claimed her body. He was even more wild and unrestrained. He loved it. He growled and she was thinking, "What the fuck?" He reached and stroked her Mons pinching her clit in the process, her pussy contracted and he roared once more. Soon his body lurched forward as he was taken in a powerful climax. It was then he marked her once more, her body convulsed. Soon they collapsed and he pulled her on top of him, kissing her. He begged her to mate with him. His wolf needed her to mate with him. She could not deny his need, so she mounted her husband's rock hard member and rode him, as her climax over took her she knew instinctively where to bite him, As she heard him scream inside her mind.. She realized it was both she and her new husband. She could not breath, he was practically unconscious when she heard an intruder speak. Hello daughter, and welcome into our family. Make Krill bring you home to meet us. she gasped. OK, I will. she answered. Baby, you have to take me to meet the family she sent her mate. Krill was confused, when Pa spoke Krill, I like her. I'm happy for you son Before he could answer, he was told Bring her home, today. Yes sir he replied. Samaria laughed, "Ah, so I finally get to meet a person that can put you in your place. She teased.. Krill laughed, "My place, Sammie, is with you." "Baby, let's shower and dress. Although wolves have no problem with nudity, I only want my eyes viewing your treasures." He teased. Samaria laughed and they showered and made love once more. Before traveling to meet his family, she paused. "We have not solved anything. What if we acted too soon?" Krill pulled her into his arms. "You, Samaria Menes Kelvic, are my wife. No one is more important to me than you. I will die for you and our children, understand." She smiled and he kissed her once more. "I can't wait for you to meet my cousins. You already know Cantar. She met her husband as well, but I've got to test him. Oh, um, she's quite ticked at me by the way, do you think you could..." she smacked him and he laughed. Then they vanished to his wolf parent's den, where Eugenia had joined them. Krill arrived home with his bride and Ma and Eugenia showered her with attention. His brothers popped in as did Manson, who hugged Samaria a little too long for Krill's comfort, but he teased him that his mate Kim was not a possessive, jealous bully. Samaria loved his wolf family and could not wait to meet the vampire side. The wolves ate and she saw his mother sitting and wandered over to speak with her. Everyone was aware of the damage she suffered because of her sister, so Samaria was not surprised. She was shocked however at the guilt she carried. "My son met you over a century ago, but because of me he caused you pain. I am so sorry Samaria. I hate that he hurt you, but I am grateful that you're giving him a chance at happiness now. You both deserve to be happy. My sister did so much damage, but it is alright now. We are OK." Samaria embraced her mother, and the anger at Krill eased. She understood now that he had to care for his mother and to do that he had to join that council. He had to choose, and it seemed that despite the pain he made the right decision. They could be happy now. ***** Gernick, Garrick, and Kale took Corliss to Kale's office. They would have gone to one of the houses, but they feared their wives might interfere. They had some questions for this guy. They knew everything possible about his family. They were aware of what their mother had done, and understood Christophe's rage. They were also aware that she had gone and his family accepted her and the union. They too knew that the young newly mated couple stayed at his small apartment and not Nicky's spacious home, only to return this morning. The brothers had met beforehand and realized something: they liked this kid. He had guts and even though he wasn't wealthy, Cantar loved him. With him was the first time they actually saw her smile. He loved their annoying kid sister, and was apparently good for her. Hell, he'd even won over their spouses, in one day. So they couldn't haze him, but he didn't have to know that. The three brothers stared him down and they realized someone was missing. Krill, we are about to torture Cantar's new husband. Garrick sent. He was surprised by the response he got, sheer contentment. Sorry, cuz, I got married. Spending the day with my wife. Krill sent. "Krill claimed his wife." Garrick announced, stunning his brothers. Gernick said, "I knew it had to be a woman that had him upset. So now we have to mess with him to. Well Junior, you just have to face the three of us right now." He explained smiling. Corliss swallowed and then he remembered what Cantar told him. . "So, Corliss, you married our kid sister, right?" Kale proposed, and the other two stood behind him nodding. "Tell us, how do you plan to care for her?" Corliss faced all three of hiss and spoke truthfully. He wasn't wealthy, and was a servant. He would provide as best he could for her and any children they had. He could not give her everything she was used to, but as her husband, he would make sure she had everything she needed and some of the things she wanted. Her brothers were impressed. Gernick spoke, "Last night, her guards reported that you stayed at your small apartment. How will you keep her safe from being kidnapped again? That apartment is small, and has limited space." Gernick actually liked his small apartment. In his mind it was actually easier to secure than Nicolette's spacious home, but he wanted to hear Corliss's response. "With all due respect, all of us were there when Johannes took her, so is the large house any safer? All I can say is that I will defend her with my life if I must. I love her, and that's all I can tell you." The brothers turned to Garrick, it was his turn. But he had heard all he needed to hear. "I'm done. Let's hang out and pretend we tortured him. Have you guys met Krill's wife?" "No, but I do know he has known her for a while, a few decades at least." He added. "I wonder when will meet her." Kale wondered out loud. Corliss was quiet, because he had no idea what they were talking about. Gernick addressed him. "First of all, you two can live in the apartment. It will be easier to secure that building. Oh, we'll buy the building, that way, the guards can be your neighbors. Corliss opened his mouth to speak when Garrick spoke. "Oh and you can't be a servant. You're part of our clan, so we need to steer you toward a career that is appropriate." Corliss opened his mouth to speak, when Kale spoke, "Have you ever worked in an office? You can start at an entry level position and work your way up." Corliss finally got a word in, "Gentlemen, I'm a servant. I can do basic repairs, and I will support my wife to the best of my abilities." He added. The brothers nodded. Then they explained the facts to the young man. By the time they finished, Corliss was perplexed. He had agreed to work with her youngest brother. He would train him in business. Then they would pay for him to get additional training and finance him in starting his own repair business. Corliss wanted to refuse, but what they were offering made sense. He could take better care of Cantar and their children. So he sat and listened as the brother's talked. After a few hours, he had relaxed and was talking freely with her brothers. Noticing the time, Gernick wanted to check on his family, as did the other two. Corliss smiled, and vanished back to his wife. "Well, I see you're alive and not bleeding. So I'm assuming things went well with my brothers." She asked as she greeted him. "Yes, it was nice." He admitted, "Now give me a kiss before I get to work." "Oh, Corliss, I want to go see Nicky and the babies tonight. OK?" Cantar told him as they both went back to work. "Yes dear," he teased. Their work day ended and they vanished to her older brother's home. Jonathan ran to her immediately. "Auntie Can, Auntie Can, hey." She lifted him and hugged him tightly. He looked at Corliss and asked, "Who are you?" I'm Corliss." He answered. "He's your new uncle." Cantar explained. Jonathan frowned. Then he smiled and said "Ok. Unka Corliss." He declared. They carried Jonathan to the nursery where Amerie was holding Janine. "Nicky was talking with her mother. She immediately hugged her sister and new brother. "So, Corliss, you were vetted by the brothers and passed, right?" Nicky asked. She sent for Shari and Brenwan and they appeared with both their children who immediately reached for their aunt. Cantar laughed and showered them with kisses. The women talked with the young couple and welcomed Corliss into the fold. The kids latched on to their new uncle and Jonathan was already asking him to build things for him. The men came in search of their wives. They found them in the library with Cantar and Corliss. As they talked, Krill popped in and he brought someone for them to meet. Everyone was quiet as Krill presented his new bride Samaria Menes Kelvic. Cantar squealed and hugged her immediately. "Does this mean you'll be back as my head researcher?" Cantar asked, and Samaria laughed. "Sure, why not." She answered. Krill spoke, "Um, part-time, we have to start our family; I mean the other guys are ahead. I need to catch up." He asserted. "Oh, it's like that, huh?" Garrick teased. "What about Manson. He doesn't have any pups yet." Garrick reminded him. Krill laughed, "Don't tell him I told you, but he will in a few months." "Whoa Manson's gonna be a dad. Man that's great. I'm happy for him. Then they turned to Corliss, "Um young blood, it's your turn." They teased and Shari smacked him. Everyone laughed and had a great time just being together. Several years passed, and Kyra and Cantar were having a joint baby shower. Malcolm was still in shock from learning they were expecting triplets. And Corliss was overcompensating in assembling the baby furniture for their daughter and Malcolm's triplets. The shower was at the compound and Corliss' family met the Loess pack for the first time. The wolves were ever gracious. Christophe sat watching the festivities and was excited for his new niece to arrive. As an uncle he had a very important job of spoiling her. His parents spoiled Cantar. His mother mothered her like crazy, and at first Corliss was afraid Cantar would be annoyed. She was not. As a matter of fact, she loved the attention. His Dad was constantly calling Corliss to make sure he was caring for her properly. He would even ask Cantar in periodically to make sure his son took care of her. Christophe smiled, over the past few years, he'd come to know the Ivanovs, and he now understood. He was the first one ready to defend them against attack. What their mother did to people was cruel and wrong, but they stopped her. For that alone he would defend his new friends. Kale walked over and they chatted, laughing at the two overanxious fathers who were trying to assemble an outdoor play set for the kids. Soon both decided to go save Corliss and Malcolm from utter disaster. Corliss and Cantar lived in Nashville. As a gift Nicky gave them her home, and of course her brothers paid for maximum security. They even hired Christophe. He was a main member of the security detail. His parents now lived with them because Cantar insisted they move in. They refused to live with them for free, so both parents were assigned positions in the household. Corliss was relieved when his parents moved in because they could help guard his wife and child. "It was safety in numbers." Cantar insisted, but he suspected that she just liked being spoiled by his mother. Krill and Samaria had gone through counseling and worked through many of their issues. He loved her, and would spend forever proving it to her. Three years into their marriage, their son was conceived. A year later, their daughter arrived. Krill never left her side, and he cried as he held each babe. His mother was there and was overcome with emotion as she held her grandchildren for the first time. His family, wolf and vampire alike, rallied around them, and Krill felt safe, secure, and loved. His wolf family eventually migrated to Texas, and became members of the Loess pack. His mother, Eugenia, lived with him and Samaria, but she spent most of her time at the compound with her friends. Well, the pups had grown up. Theo, Nickie, and Jonathan were nine and still inseparable. Javier was a little older, and he was the ringleader of the group. Rosa now had friends her own age and she played with those girls mostly. Benny was now a teenager, and like most boys he had discovered girls. His focus was divided between watching out for the little ones and catching some attention. Marisol was annoyed at Benny because his friends often teased her, and he found it funny. She still watched out for the younger ones. Several new cubs had been born into the pack as well, and all were well protected and cared for. Javon and Elise insisted that all of the pack children, werewolf and vampire alike, be protected. The party was in full swing, when Nicky walked over to her friend. "So, Nina, many years ago, a lone she wolf saved my life. I returned the favor by saving hers in return. She became my best friend." Nicky said as she hugged her best friend, rubbing her protruding belly, where her new goddaughter was tucked away safety. "Nicky, I am so glad our paths crossed. Can you believe how much our family has grown? How much stronger we are?" Nina asked. This woman was her sister and her best friend. They had been through hell and back. But if there was anyone she wanted to make the journey with, then she could not have a better companion. The children laughed, and they looked off in the distance where a group of children vampire and wolf cubs all wrestled in the sunset. THE END Well, this is it, the end of the journey, for now. Knowing my overactive imagination, I'll be back sooner, rather than later, but first I have to focus on work. Thank you all for reading and encouraging me. This was originally a story about a lone she wolf, and it has grown into a family. My foray into the genre of Nonhuman has been a success. I could not have written it without you guys, so thank you.
