It is almost in the way she moves, her body language showing she's not dreaming peacefully. "Annabel," "Annnbell," "Follow," "Follow us," "Follow us now." The whispers softly began retreating from within her mind, Annabel awoke, her eyes flickering open as a scream caught in the back of her throat, shakily one of her pale hands reached out and fumbled for the switch to the metal lamp that sat on her bedside table. "Click" The feeble light the metal lamp threw dimly managed to sweep away some of the shadows in the room. Annabel's blue eyes swept around quickly, the scream that had been caught in the back of her throat tore loose as her delicate body began shaking, pale hand quivering as she brought it up to her chest, the light white cotton night-dress she wore with a kitten on the front, drenched with sweat. Down in the nurse's station on the 4th floor, of St James Sanitarium. Nurse Sarah Smith sat, resting her head down onto the desk in front of her, on top of the day shifts paper work, that had been left scattered. A cup of coffee that she had gotten at the beginning on her shift, which began at 10pm each night, sat cold, a light film of milk having formed on top. Her head jerked up her light sleep shattered, as a sound pierced her light slumber. She took a few moments, blinking awake, as the sharp sound of a terrified scream caused the hair's on the back of her neck and arms to stand on end. Nurse Sarah pushed the chair backwards, and in her haste to rush off towards the room she accidentally knocked over the cup of coffee with a movement from her arm, which splashed over some of the paperwork running down off the edge of the desk to drip steadily onto the floor, pooling. She left the Nurse's station in a hurry, knowing the timber of that scream; that the previous mornings task had begun afresh today. Annabel's terror slowly began to recede as she heard the sounds of Sarah's rushed footsteps echoing almost silently down the corridor. Her body still shaking as she wrapped her arms about her upper body, as Sarah rounded into her room. Sarah cast a quick glance over Annabel's room, before she crossed to the bed slowly. Reaching out a hand she swept it gently across Annabel's damp forehead, in a well-practiced soft movement. A soft and gentle smile coming to Sarah's face, as she made soft and soothing sounds in the back of her throat trying to calm Annabel, down before she asked those same questions she had for every night, over the 3 years that Annabel had been at St James Sanitarium. Slowly Annabel began to calm down, her bodies quivering slowly abating, as she began to breath slower. She felt Sarah's cool calming touch on her forehead, and after a while allowed a brief almost normal smile brush onto her lips. As it did so, this pale woman of 21 years was transformed into what one would believe to be a beautiful woman. As long as one paid little attention to the dark circles from close to a thousand haunted sleepless nights, and one ignored the paleness of her skin, that to most of the staff made her seem frail, almost as if, she kept dreaming the dreams would eventually cause her to fade away, as they drained her body of it's resistance each night. Sarah allowed herself to think back as she continued waiting for Annabel to calm down, to the day that Annabel, scarcely a child, no more than 18 years old, had turned up on the Sanitarium's doorstep with her Aunt Liza. Aunt Liza had demanded that Annabel be admitted; claiming that the girl was crazy, and that there was no hope for her mind or for her soul. That she as a devout Christian woman, believed that Satan had claimed her for his own, upon her reaching an age of maturity. Sarah silently shook her head as she remembered how pale Annabel had looked, and how withdrawn she had been. Barely doing more than shuffling as her Aunt Liza, walked and held tightly onto her arm, almost dragging the poor child along, the woman's knuckles a soft white because of the tightness of her grip. The child had looked to Sarah with saddened eyes that seemed to show little hope or much of anything else. Annabel looked up to Sarah's face, seeing her faraway expression, she sighed almost silently, and gently uncurled an arm from about her body, and touched a pale fingertip to Sarah's face. Sarah was jolted out of her memories by the gently touch, before she smiled and looked down to Annabel. Her voice was soft as she spoke, "How are you feeling now?" Annabel's lips twitched into a vague ghost of a smile, as she looked up to Sarah, how she loved it when Sarah was the one who came to her at night and chased the nightmares away. In her normal soft toned voice she replied, "I am fine, now. Thank you Sarah." Sarah gently smoothed Annabel's hair back as she dredged up the usual questions. "Was it the same dream, Annabel?" The question was hardly a question any longer; it was just something of a habit after these three years, a question to be asked for paperwork's sake and nothing more. Annabel slowly nodded. Her voice soft as she answered the other as yet, unasked questions, "No, I didn't see anymore than normal. Just heard those voices. Asking the same questions they always do." She softly sighed as she dipped her head down slowly, her blue eyes taking in the stark whiteness of her blankets, blue eyes managing to focus on the kitten on her night-dress. Sarah silently nodded, watched as the girl looked down. She bit at her bottom lip lightly with her teeth, drawing it slowly into her mouth, before slowly releasing it. Sarah gently ran a steady hand down over the girl's loose brown straight hair and smiled. Her voice soft, warm, comforting and her tone light as she spoke, "It's all right Annabel. You know those question's are just a formality. I wouldn't ask you them, if I didn't have to write down your replies in the nightly report, for the head Nurse for this Ward." Annabel sighed softly, very softly; as she brought her head up and looked up into the warm and caring coffee brown eyes of Sarah, and slowly a smile blossomed on her pale white subtly trembling lips, her voice soft as she spoke; "Thank you, Sarah. I know, I remember you need to ask them. It's not like the nightmare allows me to forget why I am here." Annabel paused, biting down hard on her bottom lip, trying to keep her lip from trembling more as she still subtly fought for the calmness she knew she would eventually find, with Sarah's kindness and caring touch; her words soft almost unable to be heard, with a slight quaver, "I remember." Annabel softly closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath. Sarah smiled slowly. As she stopped stroking Annabel's hair, her tone gentle as she spoke, "Would you like me to get you a hot chocolate?" Annabel slowly re-opened her blue eyes and tilted her head back looking once more to Sarah. Slowly she dipped her head in a nod. Sarah smiled, and lightly stroked the girl's hair once again, before she moved to turn and looked back to Annabel, "Will you be all right while I go for a moment, and get the hot chocolate for you?" Annabel nodded, managing a gentle smile for Sarah. She laid her head back into the soft fluffy pillow with the little bunny pictures printed onto it in pink, and closed her blue eyes. Sarah turned slowly, her footsteps quiet as she walked out into the corridor and headed over to the elevator. She hit the button and waited, very softly humming a lullaby tune her mother had sung to her, when she was a very little girl. It brought a smile to her lips. "Ting". The elevator doors opened and Sarah walked inside. She turned and hit the button to the 5th floor. Leaning back into the wall of the elevator, she waited still softly humming for the doors to open. "Ting". The elevator doors opened, and Sarah quietly slipped out, heading down the corridor towards the staff kitchen. Inside she turned checking the level of the water in the kettle she switched it on and pulled a mug out of the washing up tray. She put two teaspoon's of hot chocolate mix into the mug and picked up the sugar bowl. Dipping a spoon in she added one sugar, put the bowl down and went over to the fridge to get the milk. Down in Annabel's room, Annabel was running threw in her mind as she supposed she did most nights after her dream; that was 'if,' she thought 'one could call this on going nightmare? A dream.' As usual seemed to make no sense to her. It puzzled her, yes. It haunted her daily, and stalked her most nights. But it made little sense. She shivered at the thought, and she supposed to herself; it seemed like after all of these years it was getting slowly, subtly closer. In the back of her mind she wondered what would happen when it final caught her. Would she end up going where her twin sister had three years ago? Sarah crossed the floor the milk container in her hand and poured some into the cup putting the milk down she waited for the kettle to boil, her mind drifted back to the first time they had gotten Annabel to talk. It had made some of the staff wonder about the young girl, who even now thought she was a young woman, they still thought of her more as the little frightened girl who had came to them, with such vague memories. That under hypnosis had filled out into something that had shocked some of the staff, and caused other's to scoff and think she had made it up. A Mist Of Whispers Ch. 02 For Annabel had told the three people that had been inside the room with her and the local Hypnotist for St James Sanitarium, that her twin sister had been having these dreams all her life. Well for as long as Annabel had been able to remember. The dream hardly ever changed. It just seemed that what ever had been getting closer to her sister, had finally gotten her, in a brilliant flash of bright green light. Annabel admitted that she hadn't seen much because the green light had more or less rendered her eyes useless. But her twin sense had told her the instant her sister had vanished, that whatever had been after her, had finally taken her. Sarah blinked, and looked down to the kettle, steam came out of its spout and she shook her head gently. Lifting it she poured water into the mug, and gently began stirring the spoon, as she put the kettle down slowly. She drew in a deep breath and sighed deeply. Lifting the spoon she tapped it gently onto the edge of the mug and put it into the sink. She picked up the milk and returned it to the fridge, and walked back over collecting the mug, she headed out of the staff's kitchen and walked to the elevator. Hitting the button she looked to the hot chocolate and smiled, she knew this would help Annabel manage to get back to sleep. It seemed that the hot chocolate helped Annabel most nights. Other nights despite the calming affect it had on the girl, she would still dream. Sarah wished that she could judge when Annabel was going to actually end up with some sleep or not, but for the past three years it had been a guessing game to all the staff that worked with the young girl, hoping for her recovery. Although Sarah knew that the doctor's here held little to no hope of Annabel's recovery, for there had been little changes except the girl saying that it was slowly getting closer to her. "Ting". The elevator doors opened and Sarah walked inside; turning with the mug in her hand she pressed the button for the 4th floor. Annabel softly sighed; she knew that Sarah would be along soon. She wondered if tonight she would sleep, or if she would continue to dream, but not wake. Lightly she shivered as she tried to relax most of her tense muscles, knowing that even though she did not feel like relaxing all that much right now, it could improve her chances of sleep. "Ting." Sarah walked out of the elevator doors as they opened on the 4th floor, slowly they closed behind her, she listened as she walked down the corridor again to Annabel's room, ears hearing no sounds, Reaching Annabel's room she walked inside. Annabel looked up slowly, giving Sarah a weak smile, blue eyes flicking to the mug that Sarah held, before resting back upon Sarah's face. Sarah smiled to Annabel, as she came to rest beside Annabel's bed, she held out the hot chocolate to her. "Here, this should help you get back to sleep I made it just the way that you like it." Sarah smiled again softly, hoping deep within her heart that it did help, that she wouldn't end up feeling as though she had lied to the girl, as she felt she had on other nights she remained with Annabel, watching over her all night, till dawn arose and the girl slept finally from sheer exhaustion. Annabel reached out with a pale hand slowly and took the offered hot chocolate from Sarah's out stretched hand. She smiled weakly up to her, wondering herself. 'Would it help?' Even as she slowly lifted it; and blew gently upon it. Sarah silently watched Annabel, in turn blow on the hot chocolate and then take a small sip. Annabel did this about 3 to 5 times before holding out the mug, her blue eyes meeting Sarah's caring coffer brown ones. Sarah reached out with a hand and took the half drank mug off Annabel, which still held a lot of warmth, and placed it onto the bedside table. She turned slightly, finding a chair she lifted it and sat it down beside the bed and sat down onto it. One of her hands reaching out to gently take one of Annabel's pale hands into her own. Annabel snuggled back down into her soft fluffy pillow with the little bunny pictures printed onto it in pink, her blue eyes falling onto Sarah as she turned her head subtly. Before she closed her eyes slowly. Sarah gave Annabel's hand a gentle squeeze, as she slowly pulled her hand out of Annabel's and stood, her voice soft as she spoke, "I'm just going to the Nurse's station Annabel, I'll be back here before you fall asleep." Annabel's head very slowly nodded, her blue eyes remaining closed. Sarah quietly walked towards the door, and out into the corridor heading down to the Nurse's station, softly she sighed as she walked in, and looked to the desk. She lightly shook her head as she softly murmured to herself, "Maybe during tomorrow's shift you might remember to not have your coffee laying around. Even though everyone else needs to learn to put all paperwork in the filing cabinet." Even as she turned picking up a cloth and sat it on the chair, grumbling as she began picking up the now coffee stained paperwork dabbing at it lightly she laid it out on the floor well away from the coffee that was still pooling there. Slowly she methodically worked her way through the mess she and other's had made, putting the paperwork away in their marked yellow manila folder's before filing it in the appropriate cabinet. She turned slightly looking up to the silver clock on the wall and blinked, softly cursing to herself as she realized that almost two hours had passed since she had left Annabel's room to come here, only with the intention of filling in the night's paperwork so far for the Head Nurse. Sarah hurried out of the Nurse's station her footsteps echoing quietly down the corridor; as she neared Annabel's room she slowed down and slipping inside her open door. Annabel lay peacefully sleeping on her side, her long straight brown hair curled behind one of her ears her arms wrapped partially about her upper body. Sarah smiled to herself, as she walked over towards the bed and picked up the half full but now dead cold hot chocolate, and slipped out of Annabel's room, humming softly as she headed down to the Nurse's station collecting her empty mug, she went back to the elevator, and hit the button. "Ting." The elevator doors opened slowly, and Sarah walked inside, hitting the button to take her up to the 5th floor, the elevator door's closed with a soft sounding "ting," and she leaned lightly back into the right side of the elevator carriage. "Ting." The elevator door's opened slowly, and Sarah leaned off from the wall slipping out into the corridor, even as she began heading for the Staff room, and the soft sound of the doors of the elevator closing behind her sounded quietly down the corridor, she wondered why in all this time, it had been three years and the girl's Aunt had never visited her. Yes, Sarah remember the woman's comment about being a devout Christian woman, but surely she would come and visit just once in all this time. Sarah knew that the reason why most of the staff here visited Annabel was to try and make up for the lack of family visitor's the girl had. It was disheartening to see a young girl of 21 years, have year after year pass her by with no family coming to see her. To herself as she entered the staff room she sighed, moving over to the sink, she reached down opening the cupboard under the sink, and pulling out the bottle of detergent, she ran the sink with warm water, and washed the cups, and the teaspoons. Sitting it all in the tray, her mind continued thinking this through. Sarah pulled the plug out of the sink, and put it near the tap even as the water drained out of the sink, she turns picking up a tea towel and dried her hands, before leaving the staff room. Heading once more out into the corridor and for the elevator. Hitting the button, she lightly crossed her arms waiting for the elevator doors to open. "Ting." The elevator doors opened, and Sarah walked in, turning she pressed the button for the 4th floor, and leaned into the right side of the elevator carriage again. "Ting." The elevator door's opened on the 4th floor, and she after a moment leaned off the wall and slowly walked out, passing by Annabel's room, she looked in on her and moved inside turning the girl's metal light off. "Click." Sarah watched Annabel for a moment in the near darkness of the room, before she moved out, as she moved down the corridor, she checked on a few other patients, before re-entering the Nurse's station. She moved over to the now clean desk, and found the report she had to begin filling out if she at all wanted to manage to get it done. Finding and picking up her silver pen, a gift from a close friend many years ago now, she began making her notes on the earlier evening activities, right up to Annabel falling asleep. She noted that from what Annabel, had told her there had been little change to the nightmare; that she had been no worse on awakening than any other night that Sarah had seen, and could remember. Sarah put her silver pen down slowly, and turning on her chair put the paperwork down onto the Head Nurse's desk. She turned back slowly and leaned back into her chair, flicking her coffee brown eyes up to the clock she sighed. It was only 2:00 am. Sarah stood, and slowly left the Nurse's Station, walking quietly down the corridor she checked in on a few patients, noticing that all was quiet. She almost wished that something would go wrong, at least then she would have something to do. Slightly shaking her head as she stopped in front of the elevator, hitting the button she waited for it to come up to the floor. "Ting." The elevator doors opened, and Sarah made her way inside, turning about she pressed the button for the 1st floor, and leaned gently into the wall. She closed her eyes as she waited. "Ting." The elevator doors opened, and Sarah's eyes slowly opened. She blinked before she recognized that the dark figure standing in front of her was only Kithan the security guard that wandered the corridors. Though she mused inwardly she'd never seen him leave the 1st floor except during the daylight hours. A Mist Of Whispers Ch. 03 "Morning Kithan." Sarah's voice held relief. He tilted his head as he stepped into the elevator and hit the 5th floor button. Turning slightly so he could look to Sarah. "Morning Nurse Sarah." Sarah smiled softly as she re-closed her coffee brown eyes. "How's it been this morning Kithan? Quiet?" Kithan shrugged, then he realized her eyes were closed and shook his head quietly to himself, "Yes, Nurse Sarah, it has." He watched her until he heard the elevator doors open, then he walked to them and out, turning to wait for her. Sarah's coffee brown eyes opened to look into Kithan's strangely violet blue eyes; she smiled and slipped out of the elevator. He fell instep beside her as they headed towards the staff room. "How's your morning going Nurse Sarah?" Sarah lightly shrugged even as she answered, and walked to the washing up tray, fishing out two mugs she put them on the sideboard slowly and looked to the kettle, even as Kithan wandered over to the kettle and picked it up, moving it over to the sink he filled the kettle up, and turned putting it back, and turning it on. Kithan slowly leaned into the sideboard, eyes watching Sarah as she put coffee and sugar into the mugs, and waited for the kettle to boil. "Click." The kettle turned off. Sarah turned to it and lifted it slowly up, filling both mugs; she put the kettle back and turned stirring both mugs. Lifted them both she turned and handed one to Kithan and with him walking beside her they moved out into the corridor, their voices soft as they spoke while they drank their coffee. In Annabel's room, her blue eyes flickered open slowly. Even as she tilted her head, as she heard a soft sound, blinking slightly, in a soft voice she murmured, "Is that you Sarah?" Listening carefully, she kept her light off, reaching out carefully with a pale hand; she caught a hold of the buzzer that sent a direct note to Sarah's beeper. Pressing it, she then slowly wrapped her hands about her upper body. Annabel silently wondered if it was another patient wandering the halls, at this hour. She certainly hoped so, for if it wasn't. Her body shivered involuntarily, as she wrapped her arms about her upper body slowly, hugging herself as she brought her legs up in the bed, drawing her knees up to her chest. "First time in a while since I've seen you come up here Kithan? Hope nothing happened?" her voice soft. Kithan seemed to shrug slightly, as he took a mouthful from his mug of coffee. "Not really. It just seems," He pauses, "Darker up here during the night hours. Yeah I know I requested it, more money." Sarah seemed to nod to herself, agreeing with him, a faint smile touching her lips, as she took a mouthful of her coffee. "I know. It is more money." At the moment Sarah heard a beep coming from her beeper. She seems to blink as she reaches down plucking it off the end of her shirt. Kithan took a mouthful from his mug of coffee. Sarah slowly headed towards the elevator, Kithan slowly trailed after her, even as she hit the button. "Ting." The elevator doors opened, and they both walked inside, Sarah turning hitting the button to take them to the 4th floor. Kithan tilted his head slightly towards Sarah, his voice soft, "Got problems?" Sarah nodded, leaning into the side of the elevator, even as she lifted up her mug, and took a mouthful of coffee, her voice soft as she spoke. "Annabel." Kithan seemed to nod slowly. "Ting." The elevator doors opened slowly, as Sarah walked out it, Kithan following her out, even as she headed towards Annabel's room. Annabel blue eyes locked onto Sarah's figure she saw enter her room, even as she saw the figure standing behind her, she tilted her head slightly to one side. "Sarah?" Sarah walked inside the room, moving over to Annabel's bed, standing beside it she looked down to her, her voice soft as she spoke, "Yes, it's me. Nightmare's again?" Annabel shook her head slowly, even as a pale hand reached out and slowly turned the switch on, the metal lamp sitting on her bedside table, cast a dim light, chasing away most of the shadows in the room. "No, it wasn't the nightmare. I just thought I heard someone. Walking around" Sarah tilted her head, reaching down with a well-practiced soft touch to her forehead. Annabel relaxed slowly, underneath Sarah's soft touch to her face. "It's all right. Kithan and I will check around. You'll be all right, your safe here." Annabel softly nodded, even as she felt Sarah's hand withdraw from her forehead. Slowly she stretched her legs out along the bed, snuggling back down into her pillow. She knew Sarah would be able to sort it out. Her mind faltered as single thought flashed through her mind, 'What if Sarah couldn't sort it out. Would she be safe then?' Annabel slowly mentally shook her head, even as she closed her eyes and snuggled down again. Sarah reached out with a hand, turning the lamp off. "Click." Walking back out to the corridor, she looked down it, spying Kithan; quietly she walked over to him, a faintly worried look upon her face. Even as she very softly spoke, "Annabel said she heard something." Kithan tilted his head to one side as he drank the last of his coffee, hand holding the empty mug in his hand. His voice coming out as soft as Sarah's had, "Heard what?" Sarah seemed to tilt her head slightly to one side slowly, her voice soft, "Footsteps. She thought she heard someone walking around." Kithan seemed to slowly nod to Sarah, even as he took her coffee mug and put them both on the main counter to the Nurse's station. He turned looking back over his shoulder to her. "You want to stay here, or come?" Sarah walked forwards and into the Nurse's station, moving over to her desk she opened a draw, and pulled out a mini silver flash light, she pushed the draw closed and walked out to Kithan, spying the look on his face she smiled faintly, "On the night's when you remained down stairs Kithan, who do you think checked out the weird sounds around this place?" He seemed to almost go to shrug before he shook his head gently from side to side, his voice low, "Sarah, your supposed to beep me if you have any problems." He paused as he saw her moved to speak, "Or if you hear any weird noises. Right?" Sarah just seemed to smile to Kithan, before she moved over to beside him, taking a few steps away from him she looked back over her shoulder to him, "Coming?" Kithan lightly shook his head from side to side as he started after her. Sarah paused waiting for him to catch up to her; as they walked down the corridor slowly, Kithan and Sarah checked the rooms to see if anyone was missing from their bed. Room after room everyone appeared to be sleeping peacefully tonight. Sarah seems to softly sigh as they continued. Her mind wondering who or what could have been walking along this floor, to have woken Annabel from her nights sleep. The girl needed more sleep, than she'd gotten. That Sarah knew for sure, even as she checked in the next room. Her paces seemed to falter before she stopped still, and slowly moved to enter the room. Kithan turned, his hand reaching out and taking a hold of Sarah's arm as he stopped her. Shaking his head at her, he moved past her heading into the room. Sarah seemed to blink, before mentally shaking her head. Either she'd been more worried about finding out who had woken and worried Annabel, or she'd just about made a mistake. Even she knew, that women staff members here didn't walk into male patients rooms during the night shift. Yet that's what she would have done if Kithan hadn't been here to actually reach out and stop her. She wondered to herself what he would have thought if he knew she'd had to do it three weeks ago, only because he hadn't answered his pager. Kithan entered the room, his well trained violet blue eyes searching the room even as he moved towards the bed, reaching out a hand he touched what would be the shoulder, only to feel it cave in underneath his gentle touch. He swore under his breath softly as he took a hold of the blankets and pulled them back, revealing a set of pillows fluffed to rough human shape. Swearing again softly, he called back to Sarah, "Hey, Sarah, who's room is this?" Sarah blinked coming out of her thoughts, she kicked her mind back into gear as she walked forwards slowly, furrowing her eyebrows faintly; "That's Jordy Grays room?" She stopped as her coffee brown eyes came to rest on the pillows lying where Jordy should have been, as she lightly shook her head. Kithan's voice was soft as he spoke to her next, "Is this a problem?" Sarah softly sighed, even as she spoke to him softly, "Perhaps, Jordy can be a little bit of a handful sometimes. I've just no idea why he'd be wandering the corridors at this hour. He usually sleeps right through the night, until Clara awakens him at 8am." Kithan nodded to himself, even as he took Sarah by the arm leading her out of Jordy's room back into the corridor. He looked up then down it, even as Sarah did the same, her expression showing she was thinking to where Jordy could have gotten. Finally she spoke, after Kithan had been watching her for a few moments, "He could have gone looking for someone to talk to." After which she shrugged slightly. At the moment it was the only suggestion as to where he was she could come up with, that seemed at all like something Jordy would do. Kithan seemed to raise his violet blue eyes to the ceiling of the corridor, even as he thought to himself. 'If I were like him, where would I go?' After a moment Sarah removed Kithan's lax hand off her arm as she walked quietly down the corridor, heading into the Nurse's station, she went to her desk. Kithan seemed to blink himself out of his thoughts just as he saw her enter the Nurse's station, lightly he shook his head, murmuring to himself, "Independent woman." Sarah emerged just as Kithan met her at the door, holding onto a box of chocolate chip cookies. He seemed to blink, tilting his head as he lifted a hand and rubbed lightly at his forehead. "Sarah, this is no time for cookies." Sarah seemed to softly chuckle. "There not for us, you twit. They're for Jordy. I remembered he happens to like chocolate chip, and I happened to have some. It might help, if we find him. As she murmured the last few words of the sentence, she heard soft voices coming from up the corridor. She titled her head, even as Kithan turned lightly taking her by the hand, as they crept up the corridor, hoping to find the source of the softly whispered voices. A faint glow of light, came from a room she recognized well the closer they came to it, as did the voices coming from inside it. Jordy and Annabel were quietly talking about chocolate fudge, and how much Jordy liked chocolate chip cookies. Sarah faintly shook her head, even as quietly she walked forwards, and slipping into the room, only to see that Jordy was carrying a bugs bunny torch in his hand and he was sitting on the side of Annabel's bed, that she was sitting up and they were very deeply engrossed in their conversation, too engrossed to realize as Sarah put the cookie box onto Annabel's bedside table, she turned creeping out, and back to Kithan. Kithan looked to her perplexedly, as she motioned for him to come down to the Nurse's station with her. Walking in after her he turned about the Head Nurse's swivel chair and sat down on it, looking to Sarah, as she sat down, his elbows leading on the back rest, his voice puzzled but soft as he spoke, "Take it Jordy was there?" Sarah nodded, a faint smile touching her lips. Kithan thought to himself; 'I really love it when she smiles.' Softly Sarah spoke, "Yes, he was. They were talking about chocolate chip cookies, and fudge." Kithan gently shook his head, even as he lifted his violet blue eyes to look into Sarah's coffee brown ones, "Want another coffee?" Sarah seemed to look to the silver clock on the wall, even as she nodded and looked back to Kithan, "Another coffee sounds wonderful." She smiled to him, her features seeming to relax, even as a hand reached out automatically picking up the paper she'd sat on the edge of the head nurse's desk, a few hours earlier. She placed it onto her desk, even as Kithan stood, and put the swivel chair back under the head nurse's desk. "I'll go get it this time. You wait here. Won't be more than a few moments." Sarah seemed to nod to him even as she turned on her chair, picking up her pen, she began making more notes down on the sheet. Filling on the past hours few events. Kithan watched Sarah work for a while, before on silent feet he left the Nurse's Station and walked down the corridor heading for the elevator, a soft smile touching his lips, with Sarah on his mind, as he pushed the button. He waited one hand slipping into the pocket of his black slacks. "Ting." The elevator doors opened, and Kithan walked inside, turning he leaned against the right side, a fingertip reaching out to touch the button for the 5th floor. He silently mused on Sarah's inner strength that he'd seen on rare occasions, when she relaxed about people, when she felt comfortable with them. He smiled, even as the elevator doors opened with a, "ting." He walked out, and they closed almost silently behind him, except for the soft whooshing sound they made, he heading down to the staff room, and inside, checking the water in the kettle, he added some more, and put it onto boil. Getting the mugs off the sink, that Sarah had washed earlier, he put coffee and sugar into both mugs, turning he got the milk out of the fridge. He put the milk down on the sideboard and leaned into the counter to wait as the kettle boiled, his thoughts drifting to the woman downstairs. He'd known Sarah, he mused, for 2 years now. Almost the entire time he'd been working here at the St James Sanitarium. Softly he exhaled, 'Yes," He thought to himself, "Sarah was a wonderful woman.' Not only because of her time spent here, and what she did, it was the fact that from almost his first day, she had made the effort to make him feel welcome. Not many of the other staff, treated him as anything more than a security guard. Sarah treated him as if he were a friend. Someone she could take to, if she so wished to. Kithan smiled. "Click." The kettle boiled, the sound of it switching off causing Kithan to jolt out of his thoughts. His hand moving to lift the kettle and fill both mugs, putting the kettle down again, he picked up the milk adding it to put mugs, before closing the carton, and heading over to the fridge, he opened the door, and placed the milk on the shelf. Turning he walked back, stirred both mugs, and put the teaspoon into the sink. Picking up both mugs, he looked about slightly, and left the staff room, making his way down the corridor to the elevator. He pushed the button with an experienced elbow, and waited. "Ting." The elevator doors opened, and Kithan moved inside slowly, he hit the button with his elbow for the 4th floor, and leaned his side against the right wall of the elevator, his eyes watching the floor number tick down. "Ting." The elevator doors opened, and Kithan leaned away from the wall, and moved out of the elevator, as he walked down the corridor, he looked in on Jordy and Annabel, they were still quietly talking, both sitting on her bed. He smiled, Annabel seemed comforted by Jordy's presence for now, he'd make sure to tell Sarah, when he got back to the Nurse's station. He continued down the corridor, moving into the Nurse's station. Sarah raised her head and slightly turned, looking over her shoulder, a smile lightly brushing her lips as she saw that it was only Kithan, with the coffee. He grinned and moved towards her, putting down her mug, he pulled out the chair he'd sat on earlier and sat down, holding is coffee mug in one hand. He voice soft as he spoke, "Still hard at it Sarah?" She nodded, putting her silver pen down, her hand gently moving to pick up the coffee mug, lightly pausing to blow air over the hot coffee, before she took a sip, she tilted her head looking to him. His voice soft as he continued, "Annabel and Jordy are still getting along fine, incase you were wondering, and their still talking." Sarah softly nodded, even as she drank more of her coffee from the mug. "I might go and check on them, once I've finished this coffee;" She paused even as she lifted her eyes upwards to the clock on the wall, catching the time, she after returning her eyes to Kithan's face continued, "After all it is getting slowly closer to dawn, and they should get their sleep." She lifted a hand covering her mouth, even as softly she yawned, Kithan shook his head slightly attempting to fight off a yawn, before he slowly gave in and yawned also. Sarah gave him a sheepish grin as she drank more of her coffee, her voice soft, "Sorry." Kithan waved her words away with a motion of his hand, "It's all right Sarah." He seemed to pause looking up to the time, before he allowed his eyes to drift back to hers, continuing softly, "After this, I should go check about this place." He lifted his mug of coffee and drained it slowly. Lowering it he spoke softly to her, as he stood, "Once I' done, I'll grab us another coffee, maybe something from the staff room to nibble on?" Sarah nodded slowly, holding out a hand for his coffee mug, her voice soft, "I'll take them back, once I've spoken to Annabel and Jordy about the fact they should try to sleep. Then though they both might protest." Kithan handed his mug over, and turned leaving, his footsteps quiet down the corridor, as he moved down it, heading for the elevator, to move down to the 3rd floor. He hit the button for the elevator doors to open, and stood patiently waiting. "Ting." The doors opened, and Kithan walked inside, he turned leaning into the right wall of the elevator, and hit the button for the 3rd floor. He waited, eyes watching the number's tick down the single floor he requested. "Ting." The doors opened, and he slowly after a moment walked out, hand moving to rest near his right thigh, as he walked first up the corridor, checking on the patients as he went. All he saw though was room after room, dark the silhouette of people sleeping on their beds. It seemed to him that everyone was were they should be for now, he reached the end of the corridor, and turned about, his well trained eyes catching the barest glimpse of a figure right down the other end of the corridor, turning about the corner, out of his line of sight. Softly he swore, and almost without a sight coming from his feet, he began jogging down the corridor, heading for firstly the nurse's station. Moments later he reached there, noticing that Conney Miles wasn't seated at her usual chair. Silently in his mind, he hoped that it had been Conney's figure he'd seen, though until he got around the corner and could hopefully make out the person, he wasn't going to get his hopes up.
