Screams emanated throughout the room bouncing and echoing off the walls filling the house with that unmistakable feeling of tension and anger. They would scream at each other all the time unable to communicate. Most of the time their arguments were about nothing of any importance. It was just that their inability to communicate with each other had caused small things to become bigger or more of a problem then they would ordinarily be. The truth was that they never agreed on anything anymore. Peace was something that seemed to be an impossibility. The children would lock themselves in their rooms and play their music and video games trying to drown out the sounds of their parents. The children were used to the arguing, but that did not mean they enjoyed hearing it on a daily basis. They much preferred to pretend they were oblivious to what was happening. It was almost as if they thought that ignoring it all would make the fighting stop. Katherine, (the mother) was sorry about the home environment that her kids were growing up in, but she could not see any alternative. She was in no way ready or strong enough to pack up her things and leave. Even though she knew that her husband Jim didn't care about her anymore there were other things that made her stay. There were her children whom she adored and loved, and the nice house with all her things. Perhaps she felt that staying with her husband preserved the family unit. However, that was not the case because the house was obviously no more then a broken home. And people may argue this, but isn't divorce better than a harsh and angry marriage in a home filled with negative emotions? Would children not rather see their parents separate and with some sense of peace than together and filled with resentment? In addition to the children there was the style of life with the club membership and the circle of friends, which included the dinner parties. It was these things that Katherine held onto desperately trying to absorb every ounce of satisfaction that they gave her. However the satisfaction was slim to none. Her house was not a home and had not been for years. So yes she had lots of accessories and things, but she would rather have her husband love her. However, that just wasn't happening. He didn't even respect her anymore. It was as if he had put her in her place a long time ago and this she knew. It wasn't to say she was content to be there, but rather that she just couldn't build up the courage to stand her ground. To say I won't take it anymore either treat me with some respect or I am out of here. She would always talk about how this time he had gone to far and that if it didn't get better she would be out of there. But it was always just talk and never anything more. For in reality she never had the courage to see it through. And beyond that she still loved her husband. Even after everything he had done and put her through she still loved him. Truthfully she was in love with the man that he used to be. The one she had fallen in love with. She would think back to how they had met all those years ago. She had been a young woman at a university and in her opinion prettier and more confident. She had been in the line at the dining hall when he had walked by with his football buddies. He had looked at her and smiled and she was taken by his handsome face and presence. He had been tall and strong and with this blonde hair and baby blue eyes. All of her friends had simply said wow when he had smiled at Katherine. He managed to introduce himself through some mutual friends and their courtship started. He had been sweet and such a gentleman during that time. Plus he was a handsome football star and this allowed her big access into the social scene. They had been exclusive all through college and one of the most recognized couples. It had been a wonderful time in her life and she longed for those days. She longed for them with all she had. She could not believe sometimes where that man had gone and who he had become. Just when had her husband transformed into the overweight and insensitive jerk that cared nothing about her feelings? And she thought also about herself and wondered when she had gotten so old? Katherine found herself to be aged and unattractive as if her youthfulness had all vanished. However, in truth she was only in her 40's at this time and still a beautiful woman underneath it all, but she just didn't see much reason to show that anymore. She felt the efforts to take the time and preserve her beauty were simply lost on her husband and her family. No one ever took any notice and this discouraged Katherine. So only on rare occasions did she allow her true beauty to shine through. But still it was there for anyone who cared to notice. She had silky brown hair that fell about her shoulders and was soft to the touch. It looked really nice when she let it grow and be well cared for. However, sometimes she didn't have the strength in her and she would cut her hair short and it with it would go all of the potential. And Katherine had these deep dark eyes that allowed you to look into her soul. She had become more reserved over the years and it had been a long time since she had allowed anyone to look at her that way. She also had this beautiful smile that was accented by her white teeth. Her body may not have been what it used to be, but she had a full and shapely body. Of course there were some signs of aging and Katherine dwelled on these rather than the fact that she still looked quite good considering all she dealt with on a regular basis. But there was so much more still. Katherine's so-called friends really didn't know who she was. What they knew was nothing more then an act in which Katherine and her husband would play their respective roles. If you were to imagine them as merely actors you would have to say that they were of Oscar quality. For Jim (the husband) seemed like such a regular guy with always something witty to say. But in truth he was no more than a fat pompous asshole. His muscular frame had turned to fat and flab over the years. After college Jim had thrown many of his exercise and eating habits away. He now ate what he wanted and drank too much beer and rarely exercised outside of his work. Katherine these days had learned to smile on the outside when she was crying on the inside. She was in no way completely innocent because no one is perfect. She knew she had somehow contributed to her situation, but she also knew underneath it all she was a good person who just wanted to be understood and loved. Few people knew the real Katherine and the truth of what went on inside the household. Will was one of these people who really knew Katherine better then anyone else. He liked to believe that he was a true friend to her and someone that she could count on. He had been around her and her family for quite sometime now. Their families had all met each other through the common free time activities. Will was a young man in his mid twenties and of average height. He was not overly attractive nor would he have stood out in a crowd. But he was lean and strong and handsome in his own way. Will had a thick head of dark hair and blue eyes that stood out against his hair. When you fist met Will one would notice his strong hands as he had a firm handshake. Will in the past had become a good friend with Katherine's oldest child Sean who was about his age. Sean was a nice boy, but he was a bit unpredictable. Sometimes his ideas on having a good time or appropriate behavior clashed with Will's. He would have his wild episodes and return again sometime later like nothing had happened. He was an odd child and it was not until years later that Will would realize why Sean had acted the way he did. That Sean had only been a product of his household. Will, his best friend Melissa, and Sean had all traveled with the same circle of friends at the time. They had spent much time together during summer camp and having parties at the houses of different people in the group of friends. They were all carefree young teenagers who had their whole lives ahead of them and they just wanted to have a good time. But much time had passed since then and things had changed and the three of them really weren't so close anymore. The whole group had grown up and gone their separate ways. But that was really not of any importance to either of them. It was a whole separate story that would have to be told in its own time. Now Will and Melissa were older, but they had managed to stay friends over the years. Will and Melissa had known each other almost their entire lives and there was not much that could hurt their friendship. Will thought of her like a sister and he vowed that he would always be there for Melissa if she needed him. Always as a true friend whom she could count on and nothing more or less. Will valued friendship and he knew how hard friends like that were to find. Over the years Melissa had been working for Katherine and Jim watching the younger son and driving him around. Due to the fact that she was Will's best friend he also became more involved with the family. Will found himself hanging around them more and spending time at their house. Even back in the beginning of it all he had noticed there was something special about Katherine, but he never understood what. When they were younger the group would sometimes go to Sean's house. Katherine would always be there with a smile on her face and a big bow in her brown hair. Will had been too young to see through Katherine's glittery exterior. Now he knew that she had wonderful grace under pressure having survived all those years in what was obviously an unhappy marriage. During the time that Will spent around their family Katherine became rather fond of him. To her he seemed to be a sweet and genuine young man very different then her husband. She had hope that her sons could be different, but feared this would be hard with the examples they had to follow. Perhaps this is what helped their friendship to grow. She had seen Will grow up into the kind of man she wished her sons to be. One who was compassionate and understanding, but also smart and independent. Will was someone who did not harbor feelings of anger and was capable of expressing his emotions at the appropriate times. As Katherine became closer to Will she allowed herself to open up to him. Well, at first she simply stopped playing the role of the happy wife. Will saw inside of her and realized that there was so much pain and hurt in her life. Her husband had stopped loving her years ago and she was still clinging to the hope that he would come around. Will felt a need to be there for Katherine to show her that someone cared almost like he wanted to protect her. It was almost to the point that he felt it was his responsibility and everyday that passed that he couldn't change her situation was one in which he felt guilty. Will felt that Katherine deserved so much more than her husband was providing her. She deserved to be respected and loved. To be seen for the beautiful and desirable woman that she was although Will was not sure it was his place. Katherine picked up on this and tried to show Will that she appreciated his kindness. She would talk to him about her life when they were alone. Katherine would confide in Will but only to a certain degree. She would make references to actions, events, and things said. She would never go into detail and never become overly emotional. However, she did not need to tell Will all the details because he knew all too well how it was for Katherine. Katherine never could hide the truth from Will because had been witness to one too many arguments. After his presence became more common place in the house Jim no longer felt the need to contain himself around Will and the true colors of their marriage started to show. This was most likely why Katherine felt so close and comfortable with Will because he knew whom she was on the inside and the outside and how distinct those two personalities were. Whenever Will would come over they would sit and talk for a while. Sometimes he would offer Katherine his hand and she would take it holding it ever so gently. When he had to leave she would give him a loving hug and softly kiss his cheek. She would ask him to stay longer then he should and to come more often then he might have. This gave Will mixed emotions because he really cared about Katherine, but he also knew that inside she was still attached to her husband. He wanted to protect her, but he also knew that he could not force her to make any decisions that she was not ready for. The decisions could only be made when she was able to deal with the consequences. But still he stayed by her side as the friend that she could lean on. However, at times he wondered what Katherine wanted from their friendship and where it was headed. Did she want more than he was offering? Was that the reason for all her small gestures of affection? Or was it simply that she was happy that someone actually cared? Will often found himself contemplating Katherine's actions and her feelings towards him. Will had no doubt that there were emotions of some kind present between the two of them. He just was not clear about the depth of these emotions. Will was also at the time scared to discover any hidden truth in those emotions. Katherine's marriage and home situation were very volatile and anything happening would have been disastrous to say the least. And that was not even including the reactions of his friend Melissa and both of their families. The whole dynamic that had been established over the years would have been forever broken and Will was not sure he wanted to be responsible for that. He was also not sure that he had those kind of feelings and emotions for Katherine. He knew he wanted better for her and always had, but he was not sure how much deeper than that it truly went. In reality the situation was just to complicated to make any sense of. The best action was to take no action at the present time. With the passing years Katherine's middle son Josh had grown in age and Melissa and Will begun to treat him as more of an equal. He was about 5 years younger but rather mature and most times polite. The three of them would spend late nights together at the house watching movies and playing video games. They always had good times together and enjoyed those times. Will and Melissa wanted to provide Josh with times when he could forget about his parents and just have fun. Josh was a typical teenager who had his friends and his parties and pushed the limits at times. He was also a really good person at heart and that was obvious to Melissa and to Will. Since the oldest son Sean had all but cut ties with Melissa and Will, Josh started to become the one that they were friendlier with. On nights when neither of them had the energy to drive home they would just crash there at Josh's house. Will never minded this and he enjoyed the mornings where he would wake up early and go to the kitchen. Soon after Katherine would come in wearing her nightgown and they would talk as she fussed over breakfast. She looked so beautiful to him even before she had bothered to fix herself up. It was her natural beauty that Will noticed. Her dark eyes and soft face and the way her hair fell recklessly around her face. That was Katherine in the truest and most basic sense and Will appreciated that side of her. And Katherine always felt relaxed and never felt the need to prepare herself in any manner in front of Will. Somehow she knew he could have cared less. This feeling mixed with the aroma of cinnamon buns in the air was quite pleasant to Will. It had all started to become quite common and comfortable for Will and for Katherine. His presence at the house was never questioned by anyone and he was just around most of the time. And during those mornings no one else would be awake for a good while and the two of them enjoyed spending this private time together. Before everyone else emerged and before the tension began to rise around all of them. Those times were special to them and always much too short. They would talk and Katherine would be relaxed and more like the person Will imagined she could be under different circumstances. The person that he believed needed to come to Katherine's surface and replace this mask that she had been choosing to wear. One of those many nights when Will and Melissa stayed over ended in a way that would change their lives forever. Melissa and Will had come over to help around the house and hang out. There was this cozy barn and this whole beautiful field that almost never got used. The children hardly ever paid mind to all the animals anymore. The free use of the grounds was very enticing to Will and Melissa who enjoyed running around with the dogs and caring for the other animals. They would sometimes ride the horses or bottle-feed the baby pigs and cows. Katherine and Jim were having a party that night and Will and Melissa offered their help. The usual bickering went on between Katherine and Jim as he hounded her about the preparations. It had been his idea to have the party, but somehow it was her fault that nothing seemed to be coming together the way he wanted. It was always her fault because Jim was never wrong. After the work was done the guests arrived and dinner was served. Usually Will and Melissa would eat with any of the younger crowd that was around. That was just how it was when they ate and Will understood this. The meal was the more serious part of the dinner party scene. But afterwards Katherine would always offer Will a seat right next to her at the table. He would join the conversation and notice how she would eventually be smiling, laughing and have her arm around the top of his chair. She looked almost happy during those moments. But if he looked close at her face he could see the tears waiting to come out. Especially on this night when she had put on such a good show for her willing audience. They of course had unknowingly enjoyed every moment. It was as if they should have stood up and applauded while Katherine and Jim took their bows. Later that night the guests all left and everyone had cleaned up. When they had a moment to themselves Will asked Katherine what was troubling her so. She whispered to him that Thursday was her anniversary, but her husband would not be around to celebrate. For he had to go to the city and had not bothered to cancel or change his appointment. Their special day apparently did not mean as much to Jim as it did Katherine. He had made no effort to celebrate or even acknowledge the day. Will wanted to hold her and make things better, but he knew it could never happen. After all it wasn't his place and part of him knew that truth all too well. After the clean up Katherine helped fixed up the couch for Will to sleep on and they all said goodnight. As she turned to walk away Will rested his hands on her shoulders and whispered in her ear "you can get through this." Then Will lay down to sleep for the night and Katherine wiped the tears forming in her eyes and walked to her room. But she tossed and turned in her bed unable to sleep next to her loveless husband. She could barely keep herself from crying and all she could think of was that she wanted to be loved in a way that he could never love her anymore. Sometimes he had desires and they would go through the motions, but she never felt anything anymore. All she felt was herself crushed under her husband's fat body. As if each time he moved up and down she was suffocating in both senses. Those acts never gave her any pleasure, but she didn't have the strength to resist. She always hoped that one day it would be different as if the sparks would suddenly return. It had just all built up inside her and on that night she felt more overwhelmed than she ever had before. All she knew on that specific night was Will and their friendship and how much he seemed to care about her. And how much she needed to feel a sense of love and belonging. She needed that more than anything. So she made a decision, a fast one which she did not take time to assess. One that she would spend the rest of her life questioning and doubting. She got out of bed and walked into the living room where Will was sleeping. A Wounded Dove She tiptoed into the room and sat on the edge of the couch. She watched him as he slept looking so sweet and unassuming. When she looked at him there it made her warm inside. Not like the feeling of sadness she got when she looked at her husband. Then Will started to roll around as if he was unable to sleep much like she had been. Katherine placed a hand on his forehead in an effort to calm him. She could feel her heart begin to pound in her chest as she touched his soft skin. "Be still my sweet young man," she whispered. She ran her hands through his hair and kissed him gently on the forehead and he opened his eyes. He looked up and noticed her there above him looking down at him with her intense eyes. He had no idea what was happening and was wondering if maybe this was all some strange dream. Will knew that Katherine was most definitely not here touching his face in an ever so loving manner it was just not possible. Katherine touched his face softly and leaned in to kiss him. Will was very surprised and not sure what to say. He just looked at her with this expression that was full of bewilderment, amazement and fear all at the same time. However, she kissed him anyway and Will could feel the desperation for love and comfort that Katherine must have been feeling at that moment. He could also see that she was trembling slightly as her lips touched his. "Make love to me" she said. "I just need to be with someone who loves me" "To have it mean something again" she continued. "Are you sure this is what you really want?" Will said not believing the words that were coming out of Katherine's mouth. He was not even sure if this was what he wanted. "Yes, just hold me and make me feel loved." She said. Will was confused and in truth somewhat terrified. Normally this is something that he never would have done. After all Katherine was married and there were some boundaries you were not meant to cross. On the other hand he knew her husband did not give a damn about her and had actually been unfaithful himself. Katherine had never been able to get over the infidelity and Jim had never truly apologized or expressed remorse for his actions. Will also knew how much he cared about Katherine and how much he wanted for her to feel loved and appreciated. And as he looked into her eyes he saw his reasons. He saw everything that made her who she is. All the hurt that she carried her longing to be loved, and the fear that she would never feel truly alive again. Will knew these feelings very well since he harbored many of them inside of himself. Will had been with a few girls before and had brief relationships with them. Nothing had ever lasted and no one had caused him to feel that spark or that intensity he thought he should have been feeling. Although while he looked up at Katherine with a lot of apprehension and fear he also felt some of that excitement. Here was someone who intrigued him and interested him in a way he had never known. Someone will real depth and understanding of love and true emotion. At that moment the two of them came to sort of a mutual unspoken understanding of their current actions and why they had chosen them. So as she continued to kiss him he simply let all of his fears be cast aside. He began to return her kisses with his own very soft and gentle. Her lips tasted very soft and sweet and he couldn't stop. When they kissed Katherine felt that desire that she thought had died so long ago. Will finally felt that he wasn't alone and that someone cared. He had feared that no one would ever see inside of him, but now he thought that maybe he was wrong. Katherine sat up; Will lifted the nightgown over her head. He just took a minute to look at her and she was so beautiful. He could not understand what her husband didn't see in her or why he didn't love her. Katherine's body was full and smooth and Will slowly ran his hands up her curves caressing her body. He touched her with a tenderness that sent chills through Katherine's entire body. She closed her eyes as she enjoyed the sensations of his soft and gentle but strong hands. Will had never liked Jim for the way he treated Katherine and the things he did. But now she was here with him and he was going to try and make up for all that and right all the wrongs. Of course that was in reality not possible, but at the moment he felt it was his destiny. Despite the fact that all the pain from the years of a failed marriage could not be solved in a single night he believed he had to try. Try and make her feel emotions and pleasures that she thought were long lost. Will began to kiss the rest of Katherine's body making her feel so good. He moved so slow and was ever so gentle being kind to all her needs. Will knew well that with a woman like Katherine it was best to take your time and he was ready to make it so sweet for her. Next Katherine looked at Will showing that she was getting ready. She lifted off his shirt and his boxers exposing the vulnerable person that he hid deep inside. She lay him down and let her body fall on top of his. She was ready and they both knew that there was no turning back now. The longing in her eyes was as evident as ever at this moment. Will could hardly believe how much she really seemed to want this. It was almost like a dream for him to think that she was here while her asshole husband unknowingly slept like a rock in the other room. Katherine lowered herself over him and so they began. Will moved slow and deep at first, but he slowly moved just a little faster but never getting too quick. He was so steady kissing her the entire time making her feel like she never thought she could again. He built her up and took her to a place inside of her that she had rarely if ever been. She felt so alive as did he. Although both of them were almost silent the entire time their moans of passion desire and love where loud as ever inside of their hearts. They just knew that if anyone were to hear it would be tragic to say the least. Will looked into Katherine's eyes and the mixture of pleasure and emotion was ever present. He kissed her again, as his rhythmic movements became deeper and quicker. He could tell that she was lost in the beauty of the moment and the indescribable way he hoped she was feeling. Katherine moved her body in tune with Will's meeting him as he pushed upward. The sensations ripped through her body and her temperature rose. On one level she felt like someone other than herself and this pleased her. But on another level she knew she was the same Katherine and that was who Will had been attracted to. That in reality there had been nothing really wrong with her at all during these last many years. That the right person could know her for who she was underneath all of the deception and untruths that she allowed the world to see. At that moment Katherine felt the true waves of passion build in her body as she experienced her release. She was just relaxing when she felt Will stiffen and as he worked toward his moment and she felt it happening for her again. She could hardly believe that experiencing such pleasure and sheer emotion was actually possible. After they had given themselves to each other they both felt so relaxed. Katherine closed her eyes and fell asleep. Will just held her and watched her sleep. He loved the look of peace on her face. He wished she could look that way forever. She was so relaxed sleeping with a smile on her face. He decided he would let her sleep for a while enjoying the moment and then he would wake her so she could return to her room. But all too soon he fell asleep. They slept all night holding each other enjoying the warmth of love and compassion around them. Little did they know that when the morning came that peaceful moment would be shattered. When Jim woke up in the morning he noticed that Katherine was not in bed. He found this to be kind of odd because when he woke early on the weekends to play golf she was usually asleep. But he did not give it much more thought then that. Maybe she gone for a walk or to work in the garden as she sometimes did. In truth he didn't much care what she did on the weekends as long as he made his tee time. He took a quick shower and ate a small breakfast preparing to leave. Then when he walked into the living room looking for his hat he found so much more. At the second he saw her laying there with Will he completely lost all reason. Katherine heard his footsteps as he stormed out of the room. She woke up and ran after him not sure what she was going to do. She looked into his eyes and saw them so filled with hate and rage. At that very moment she understood the gravity of what she had done. She had made a tremendous error in judgement. She had done something that was unbecoming of her. It had been thoughtless and hurtful and she now understood this but it was too late. She tried to say wait and I am sorry, but no words came out. All of these realizations and she could not even speak. Katherine also knew that nothing could make this better or erase the images from her husband's mind. For she knew he must have known what had happened. He knew the two of them had been getting closer, but he never thought his wife would have done such a thing. He thought she was too scared of him and of losing him. Katherine just stood in front of him terrified as she watched her husband raise his hand for the first time. Will awoke immediately as he felt Katherine stand up. He heard arguing and shouting in the hall. His first reaction was to get out of bed and rush to Katherine's defense. As he threw on some clothes the shouts got louder. He could hear the desperation in Katherine's voice and the anger in Jim's. Then as he approached the doorway he heard a smack and a thud as he watched Katherine fall to he floor. As Jim walked over getting ready to hand out the next blow Will stood in front of Katherine. "Don't touch her," he said standing his ground. Jim noticed that there was no fear in Will's eyes. Jim could see a different emotion in Will's eyes. That look was of complete determination and conviction. It was as if Will was saying without speaking that he stood by whatever had happened the night before. And that he was willing to defend his actions and Katherine if it came to that. Jim knew that he could hit Will or beat him, but also knew that it would bring no satisfaction. Because he did not blame Will only Katherine that was just the kind of person he was. Jim stood there with his fist raised and an evil look in his eyes. His fist trembled in front of Will's face as if contemplating its next move. Will did not move away or prepare to fight back. He took a more passive approach as he stared back at Jim. "Go ahead and hit me if you want," "Beat the hell out of me if it makes you feel better," he yelled. By this time Katherine was already crying uncontrollably on the floor. Will looked into Jim's eyes, but saw no remorse. It was as if Jim resented Katherine for this so called mistake. He could have cared less that he had been with someone else in the past. That Katherine knew about it and had dealt with the pain for years. Somehow he justified his infidelity, but the fact that she had done it was more then he could take. His anger had gotten the best of him and he just snapped. Words had no longer been enough and he had hit her. The sad part was that he probably was not even ashamed of himself. He put his arm down and stormed out of the house without a word. Will sighed with relief as he watched him walk away and heard the front door slam. The children didn't hear a thing or if they did they stayed in their rooms in their beds under the covers. For they had learned to simply block out the sound and not react. Screaming was common place in the household and more then likely none of them heard the slap of their father's hand against their mother's face. The boy's rooms were upstairs and that is where they would hide away pretending not to hear or care. In reality they didn't know that the way their father acted was wrong because it was all they had ever known. They were both headed down the same road anyway and no one could stop them. It was a shame really that they didn't have a more positive male role model. Because someone needed to teach them that anger was not the only way to treat a woman and that they had better more effective alternatives. As for Melissa she was almost a member of the family and although she didn't think that all of the fighting was right she also did not believe it was her place to get involved. She felt like she had found a good deal being accepted by the family and getting paid for a job she enjoyed. Melissa simply wanted to stay in good graces with the family although she did support Katherine when she sometimes talked of divorce. For Melissa her time with this family was her time to escape her own family and in the issues she dealt with at home. Will sat down on the floor and took Katherine in his arms. He tried to hold her, but she pushed him away. All he wanted to do was comfort her and she wasn't letting him. "Leave, please just get out" she said. He couldn't comprehend what she was telling him. After the night they had just shared she was kicking him out. After he had stood up and protected her she wanted him gone? "Please let me help you" Will said. "No just go" she repeated. Still he tried to hold her, but she struck out at him. Will attempted to wrap her up tighter and she fought him even harder. She ripped his arms apart and started kicking at him. So he left without a word. Left her there crying on the floor, but what could he do? He knew she needed someone to hold her and rock her until she calmed down. But Katherine had just refused or perhaps she was too ashamed of herself. Ashamed of what she had done and so much so that she couldn't even look at her friend and brief lover. Will knew that so much more than sex had taken place last night on that couch. He also knew Katherine very well and understood how she had reacted. Rather than embrace what had happened she had chosen to punish herself for what she considered a sin. A sin she had committed not only against her husband but her family and herself. Will sped away in his car and went back home. During that ride home he contemplated turning around several times. He would slam the brakes, but he never turned around. He did not want to be a coward, but he also did not want to return where he wasn't wanted. Upon reaching his house Will slammed the door and ran upstairs ignoring everyone in the house. He just threw himself on the bed and wept for his inability to help Katherine. After that things would never be the same. Will would run into Katherine sometimes, but she would ignore him. He thought that after that moment maybe she would be strong enough to leave. Even if she didn't want to be with him, maybe she would have seen that there was more for her then her husband could offer. But he had been wrong. That night was nothing more then a moment of weakness for Katherine. Perhaps he was wrong when he thought that she had felt the same intense desires that he had, but now he would never know for sure. Part of Will felt like he should be angry, but he wasn't. For he knew if he had it to do all over again he would. To him that night was special and although it pained him every time he thought of the morning after he would never want to take back the night. For that was the first time in his life he had felt alive and he knew that Katherine had felt the same way. So he vowed to always keep that feeling close to his heart and never to forget.
