My husband, Jason, loved me. I loved him. We were good in bed together. I had nothing to complain about. We'd been together for 8 years, married for 4 years and we were just about to try and have a child. Everything was perfect. That fateful Friday I was just leaving the gym with my friend Mary. We had a regular routine. We would meet up at the gym around 5 and work out together for 45 minutes or so. We would shower and be out of there before 6 and then head our separate ways. She was also happily married. As we were leaving I bumped into a man, and oh what a man he was. His chest felt like it was made of granite. He smiled at me. I was a little stunned. He was so good looking and he just kept smiling at me. I said, "Sorry, my fault." He just smiled even more and walked away. I watched his tight butt as he left. "Oh my god Mary, he is sooooo hot." Mary laughed. "You got that right Sharon. How about next time you let me bump into him." We looked at each other and giggled merrily. I turned around and scanned the area for the hunk. He was buying something in the food court. I watched him sit down at one of the tables. I turned to Mary. "Why don't we get a quick drink and chat for a bit?" Mary shrugged her shoulders. "Sure, just a quick one though." We sipped our Gatorade and I stared at the man. I almost forgot that Mary was there. She tried to make conversation, but I basically ignored her. "Sharon, honey?" I turned to Mary. "Sharon we've been sitting here for 15 minutes and you haven't taken your eyes off him." I blushed but didn't say anything. Mary continued, "Well, I'm leaving. Brian will be wondering where I am." "Bye Mary." "Bye Sharon." I just sat and watched the man eat his supper. I'm not sure what it was about him that turned off my normal brain functions. I guess I felt that smile was a sign that he wanted me. My phone was beeping to let me know I had a text message, but I didn't hear it. It was in my purse and the sound was muffled. Normally I check my phone every hour or so and catch up on any texts. I will add the text messages from my husband into this narrative at the time he sent them. Keep in mind though that I had not read them yet. I was staring at a beautiful man and nothing else really mattered. - Hun? What's up? Where are U? - The smiling man was taking his time. He pulled out a newspaper and started to read. I just watched him. He seemed so carefree. - Sharon? It's 7:30. What's going on? - - OK, I'm getting worried now. If you get this, please text me. - - Alright, I'm on my way to the gym. Hope you're OK - The man finally stood up. He emptied his tray in the garbage and sauntered off. He had such a sexy walk. He looked like he was in command of the whole world. - OK, I see the car. You must be here somewhere. - I followed him as he headed for the carpark. He got into a black Toyota Corolla and drove off. I hurried over to my car and gunned it so I could follow him. - Oh my god Sharon. You just rushed right by me. - - You didn't even notice I was there. - - You were too busy staring at that jock. - - BTW, I'm right behind you. Stopped at the light. - The black car pulled into a parking lot for an apartment building. I pulled over to the side of the road. I watched as the man left his car and entered the building. I pulled in and parked in the visitor's parking. I headed towards the building. - I can't believe it Sharon. You're following this guy? - - And now you're going inside? - There was just a small entranceway with a list of names and a phone. I stood there and realized there wasn't much I could do. I headed back to the car. I made sure I had a good view of the main entrance and camped out. I was dreaming about the smiling man. He looked so handsome and so nice. I imagined his strong arms were around me and we were kissing. - Well that was quick. What are you up to now? - My fingers travelled to my private parts. I couldn't help myself. - OMG Sharon. You have that look. - - Like you are having great sex. - - Wow. Just wow. - - I'm going home now. I can't take any more of this. - The smiling man never did come out of his apartment. I headed for home around 11. Jason was waiting for me in the living room. "Sharon, what happened? Where were you?" "Hi Jason, something came up. I'm not feeling well. I'm just going to bed and going to sleep. OK?" Jason stared at me unbelievingly. I was so wrapped up in myself I didn't even notice. I went to bed and Jason followed me. He leaned in to kiss me and I said, "Not tonight, sorry hun." He just rolled over and I sighed with relief. I didn't want to deal with Jason. I kept on thinking about the smiling man. My fingers found their way down and I was so wet it wasn't funny. I started rubbing gently. After about 15 minutes Jason got up and left the bedroom. I started frigging myself for real then. - You are unbelievable Sharon. - - I could smell your sex even when you walked in. - - When I was next to you in bed, it was overpowering. - - I could feel the bed moving slightly. - - I bet you were touching yourself 10 seconds after you shut me down. - - You are hornier than I've ever seen you. - - But you want nothing to do with me. - - I just checked your phone. Maybe your service was screwed up? - - Nope, You have 25 text messages that are unread. - - OMG, I just peaked in to the bedroom. You are slamming those fingers in. - - Un fucking believable - 2) I woke up the next morning and Jason was in the living room. I drank my coffee and had some toast. It was around 10. "I'm going shopping honey," I said to Jason. He just nodded. I headed straight back to the apartment building and camped out again. - Shopping for what Sharon? A new man? - The smiling man came out of the building around Noon. He had shorts and a tight T-Shirt on. He started jogging as soon as he got outside. I left the car and tried to catch up, but he was too fast. He obviously ran regularly. I headed back to the car and pulled out to follow him. - I know I'm repeating myself, but this is fucking unbelievable Sharon. - - He doesn't even know you exist. - - You can't help yourself. Can you? - He ran to the park and circled around in there and then headed back towards home. He'd been at it for 25 minutes and he hadn't broken stride yet. He was a machine. He was so sexy. I raced back to the apartment building and stood by the entrance to wait for his return. He appeared again in about 10 minutes. I stared at him hopefully as he approached. I opened my mouth to speak to him, but he just smiled at me and walked right on by. The masculine smell of him was powerful. I almost came. - I've seen that look before Sharon. That was the 'come hither' look. - - You look so disappointed now. - - All he had to do was nod his head and you would be in there screwing. - - Fucking him as hard as you could. - I got into the car and headed for the adult shop that I saw on the way to work every day. I stopped in and bought a vibrator. I needed some penetration. - OMG Sharon. The sex shop? - - You need a dildo now? - - Your boring ole hubby isn't good enough anymore huh? - I headed home. Thank God Jason wasn't there. I went straight to the bedroom. - I just peaked into the bedroom again honey. - - You sure are giving that new toy a workout. - - Just so you know, we're done. - - I'm filing for divorce on Monday. - - OK I packed up all of the stuff that I need that's not in the bedroom. - I finally couldn't come anymore. My arms were tired. I needed a break. I found Jason in the living room. "Hi honey," he said. "Hi Jason, why didn't you come see me?" "Oh I saw you were sleeping and figured you needed your rest." "You're a sweetie Jase." He gave me a strange look then. I knew something was going on with him when I saw it, but I just didn't care. Jason looked so ordinary compared to the smiling man. There was no way that Jason could run for an hour straight. I was off in dreamland again. Jason cooked up some burgers on the bbq and I ate dinner with him, but my mind was still elsewhere. Jason was reading a book that evening so I headed to the bedroom and my new dildo got some more work in. - Wow, that was the strangest dinner ever. - - You were there, but you weren't there. - - I swear, I could have left and been replaced by an orangutang and you would never have noticed. - - Ahhhh, giving it to yourself in the bedroom again I see. - Jason came to bed and tried to kiss me and I begged off again. I said I had a headache. 3) The next morning I just left without saying anything to Jason. - I gave you one last chance to acknowledge me Sharon. - - But no, you have been firmly in never never land since Friday night. - - Well, I've packed up all my clothes now. - - Just so you know Sharon, It doesn't matter whether you succeed in your quest to fuck this guy or not. - - It just doesn't matter. Nothing fucking matters anymore. - - We had 8 good years Sharon. - - Thanks for that, I guess. - - Have a good life. - The smiling man left his apartment around 11 and strolled towards downtown. I drove to the edge of downtown and parked. I sat on a bench at the bus stop and waited for him. He appeared in about 10 minutes. He bumped into a young boy and smiled at him as the kid ran off. He walked past and smiled at me and kept walking. I followed him. He headed for the main square. He walked by a little old lady and smiled at her. Her face lit up. He passed a young couple. The girl was very pretty. Her eyes followed him as he walked by. Her boyfriend pulled her and gave her a dirty look. She smiled at him guiltily and they walked on. The smiling man of my dreams passed another good looking woman. Her mouth dropped open and she turned to follow him. He was oblivious. He passed a grumpy old man and smiled at him. I realized this man smiled at everyone and everybody. I was determined to talk to him and see if there was anything there. He finally sat on a bench in the square and I approached him. I sat on the same bench. "Lovely day, isn't it?" I said to him. He smiled at me and nodded but didn't say anything. "I'm Sharon, pleased to meet you." He smiled at me again, but still didn't say anything. He just stood up and walked away. I was astounded. He was very rude there, even if he did smile at me beautifully. I finally realized that my fantasy was just that, a fantasy. I watched in disbelief as the pretty woman he had just walked past rushed off to follow him. A man sat down next to me on the bench. "Hi honey, why do you look so glum? A beautiful lady like you should always be happy." I looked at him. He was good looking and he was trying to look compassionate, but it was obvious to me that he was on the prowl. "I'm sorry. I have to go." He nodded at me and started scanning the area for his next target. I walked as quickly as I could towards my car, and then sped home. When I got there all of Jason's stuff was gone. I panicked. I ran around the house looking for him and screaming. There was no sign of him. No note, nothing. I collapsed on the couch and started crying. After a while I finally reached for my cell phone. There were 60 text messages waiting for me. 53 of them were from Jason. I started at the beginning. I got to the one where he saw me masturbating in the car and I called his number. His phone went straight to voicemail and the message was, "Yes Sharon. It's true. I'm filing for divorce on Monday." I broke down crying again. I thought about our marriage. I thought about what a good husband Jason was. I thought about his feelings for the first time in 3 days. I was ashamed. Eventually I read all of the messages. Jason almost never swears. He must be really, really upset. I tried calling him again and got the same answer. I left him a long tearful message. I must have said "I'm so sorry," about 20 times. The message got cut off of course. Then I texted him. - Jason, where are U? - - Why do you care Sharon? - - Oh, I'm so sorry Jason - - Not good enough Sharon. - - Can't we talk? - - Nope, I've got nothing to say to you.- - But I never touched him. I don't even know his name. - - That doesn't matter Sharon. You fucked him in your mind many many times, and you ignored me like I didn't even exist. - - I'm so sorry. - - Too little too late Sharon. I won't answer any more messages. - - But Jason. I love you. I love you so much. - He never did reply. I could sort of see his point. He was right. I imagined sex with the smiling man and ignored him for 3 days straight. Somehow though, I was able to justify to myself that I really had done nothing wrong. After all we never even kissed. 4) I went through the motions at work the next day. My mind was in turmoil. I arrived at the gym at 5 like usual. I didn't end up working out though. A mean looking man walked up to me. "Excuse me, are you Sharon Grimsby?" "Yes." "You have been served." He smiled an evil smile and handed me a thick manila envelope and left. Mary showed up and saw me reading the papers and crying. We headed to the food court. "What's happening Sharon?" I held up the papers. "Jason is divorcing me." "He's divorcing you? I thought you were happy together?" "We were Mary. We were." "What happened?" I blushed. "Oh my god, that guy you were staring at. Did you two hook up?" "No Mary." "So what happened then?" "I went cuckoo over that guy. I followed him around for the whole weekend." "You followed him," said Mary in disbelief. "Yes." "What about Jason?" "I pretty much ignored Jason all weekend." "You ignored your husband for a full weekend?" "Yes Mary, I'm not proud." "So what does he know?" "Oh he followed me for a good portion of the weekend before he gave up on me." "I see," said Mary doubtfully. "Mary, I don't even know the guy's name. How could Jason dump me after 8 years of being together?" "I don't know Sharon. Do you want me to talk to him?" I brightened at that idea. "Yes, could you call him honey?" "Sure, what's his number?" I gave her the number and said, "Tell him that I love him very much." Mary called Jason. I could only hear her side of the conversation. "Hi Jason, I'm Mary, a friend of Sharon's." "Yes we have the papers. Sharon is looking through them now. She's really upset." "She told me to tell you that she loves you very much." "OK, I'll ask her Jason." "Good Bye." Mary looked at me. "He sounds really angry Sharon." "What did he want you to ask me?" "He said to ask you what you bought yourself on the weekend." I blushed crimson. "That fucking asshole," I said. Mary looked at me in shock. "What could be so bad about that question? What did you buy?" "None of your business, Mary." "None of my business? You're serious? What a fucking bitch you are. I just called your husband at your own request to try and save your failing marriage and now it's none of my business?" I realized she was right. "Sorry Mary, it's just really embarrassing." "What did you buy Sharon?" "I bought a dildo Mary." "A vibrator?" "Yes." "And you used that while you were thinking about that guy didn't you?" "Yes. Many times." "What about Jason? Did you have sex with him?" "Oh Mary, he tried both Friday and Saturday night. I was so horny, but I turned him down both times." "Oh my god, Sharon. No wonder he's divorcing you already." "Wait, what? I never even kissed that guy." "It doesn't matter honey. You cheated on him worse the way you did it." "What do you mean?" "Honey, you rejected him just for the thought of another man." "Yeah, well I still don't see the big deal." "You really are dense Sharon. I don't think I want to hang around with you anymore. OK?" "Fine, be that way. Bitch!" We each stomped off and I headed home to my empty house and cried my eyes out. 5) I called in to work and said I needed a personal day. My boss was understanding. He said everyone at work was wondering what was wrong with me yesterday. I set out to meet up with Jason and make him see reason. Eventually he had to realize that I loved him dearly and this was just a misunderstanding. I showed up at Jason's workplace and nodded at the security guard. We had always been friendly before. "Excuse me Mrs. Grimsby. I've been instructed to bar you from the premises." "What?" "I'm sorry Sharon. Jason made sure that I wouldn't let you in. He said if I did, I was fired." "Oh my god. I'll wait outside then." "OK, Thank You Sharon." I was pretty sure that Jason normally went out for lunch, but that day he stayed inside. I found his car in the parking lot and just camped out there. He showed up around 6 O'Clock. "Hi Sharon," he said. I tried to rush up and hug him. "Back away Sharon or you will get hurt." "What are you going to do? Hit me now?" "I'm not going to hug you. That's for sure." "Jase, I'm telling you nothing happened." "Sharon, I'm telling you that it doesn't matter whether you had real sex with him or not. You totally abandoned our marriage for a weekend. You and I both know that if he was even remotely interested in you, you probably would never have come home." I started to argue and then I blushed. He was right. If the smiling man had wanted me, I would probably still be there and cumming non-stop. "I'm so sorry Jason. I don't know what came over me." "I actually believe you Sharon, but what will happen the next time you run into a man like that?" I opened my mouth and closed it. He was right again. If I had any willpower at all I would have left the same time Mary did and gone home to my loving husband. He would have got better sex than he'd had in a long time because of the other man. That's probably what happened with Mary and Brian. "All I can say is that I love you now more than ever. I will make it up to you. I promise." "Sharon, there's no way you can make it up to me, none. You obviously don't know how much it hurts to watch the woman you love masturbate thinking about another man when you have been rejected only minutes earlier. I can't imagine any greater pain." "So you're saying it would have been better for me to actually have fucked him?" I said unbelievingly. "I don't know Sharon. All I know is that it couldn't be any worse. You go ahead and fuck all the musclemen you can handle. I don't care anymore." "You don't mean that Jason." "Actually I do. Please don't bug me anymore. Just stay away from me." "But Jason, I love you." "Well, I'm sorry Sharon, but I don't love you anymore. All the love was burned out as I watched you piston that vibrator up your cunt." "Jason Grimsby. That's rude." "Yeah, well fuck you Sharon. How's that for rude?" I couldn't take it anymore. My world was crashing down around me. I tried to hug him again. Jason did the unthinkable. He kicked me hard in the crotch. I mean hard. I fell down crying. "I hope that hurts Sharon. There's no way it could hurt you as much you hurt me." He got in his car and left. I eventually picked myself up and drove home. The Jason I knew was one of the most polite, even-tempered people I've ever met. He never raised his voice. He almost never cursed. He wouldn't think of hurting anyone or anybody. But now he'd gone off the deep end, and it was all my fault. I thought back to the smiling man. Sure he was gorgeous and he smiled at me, but why should that turn me into a crazed lunatic with no sense? I just couldn't process it. I'd had gorgeous men come on to me before, and I was always able to deflect them with no trouble. The more I thought about it the more puzzled I became. The Smiling Man At least Jason's swift kick accomplished one thing. I had no desire to see him again for a while. I was angry at him for not giving me a chance to prove myself. I was also depressed. I wanted my old Jason back, but it seemed like the old Jason was gone to never return again. 6) The next day I started to delete my old text messages and then I read through the whole series from Jason again. It was hard to believe I really was that out of tune with my normal self. I decided to save them off in a word document for posterity. I then sent the document to my hotmail so it would be available on any computer, just in case I needed another jolt of reality. My mind was already trying to rewrite those few days into something that made more sense. I was wracking my brain trying to think up ways to win Jason back, but I couldn't come up with any good ideas. I asked around with the girls from work for a good divorce lawyer. I called to set up an appointment with one the next day. That very afternoon the office playboy came by to flirt with me. His name was Gary. He had tried to put the make on me a couple of years ago and I was able to fend him off with ease. I guess now he thought things were different. He flashed his boyish smile at me and tried rubbing my back at one point. "Look Gary, I'm not going to jump into your bed, just because my husband and I are going through a rough spot. I have friends in this office. I know what you do. You love the lady for a week or two and then you move on. I'm not going to be added to your list. Trust me." "Sharon, honey. I've had my eye on you for a long time. You're a special lady. We might make a great couple." He reached out to stroke my arm. I wrenched my arm away. "Gary Howell, if you touch me again I will file sexual harassment charges." Gary looked shocked. "OK, OK Sharon. Calm down. I won't bother you anymore, OK?" "No problem so far Gary. You touch me again, then you have problems." "Alright, Jeeze." He stomped off. 7) I met with the divorce lawyer the next morning. He had a reputation for being a good listener with a no-nonsense attitude. "Hi Sharon, I'm Richard Thompkins." "Hi Mr. Thompkins." "Call me Richard, Sharon. It makes things much easier." "OK Richard." "So, I understand you were served a petition for divorce?" I handed him the papers. He glanced though them very quickly. "This looks pretty standard Sharon. So how do you want to proceed?" "I don't want a divorce Richard. I love my husband very much. I want him back." "I see. Obviously your husband does want a divorce though, or we wouldn't be here." "You're right I guess, but I know he still loves me. It's just a big misunderstanding." "Well Sharon, I hope you won't take this the wrong way. This will be a professional relationship, and I won't be making any advance towards you, OK?" "OK, I guess." I was very confused. "Sharon, you are a beautiful woman. You obviously have your share of brains. You're no dummy. Also, you have a refreshingly down to Earth attitude for someone of your beauty. In other words you seem almost too good to be true. It would seem your husband would have no choice but to stay in love with you unless you really did something awful. Did you cheat on your husband, Sharon?" "No Richard, I've never had sex with another man since I started dating Jason." "Did Jason find another woman?" "No, of course not," I said indignantly. "So Sharon, Would you classify your marriage as being a good one?" "Oh Yes. It was pretty much perfect all the way through until this past weekend." "Really? That's very unusual in these situations. If you didn't cheat on each other, what the heck happened?" I blushed beet red. I opened my mouth to tell the story and closed it again. It was just too embarrassing to explain. Then I came up with an idea. "Can I use your computer for a second?" "Sure, It's all yours." I logged on to my hotmail and then sent him the document containing Richard's text messages. He opened up the email and read through them. "Wow Sharon, you really put your husband through the wringer." "I know Richard. I don't know what came over me." He was deep in thought for a minute or two. "Sharon, this is a little unusual, but I'm going to relay some details from my personal history OK?" I just nodded. "Sharon, you really don't look like her all that much, but you remind me of my ex-wife. We had a loving marriage and we were both happy. Then another woman caught my eye. Let's call her the bombshell. She oozed sexuality from every pore. I dropped everything to follow her around. Sound familiar?" I nodded. "What happened?" "Oh, my wife noticed that I wasn't paying attention to her. I was disappearing for odd reasons and I didn't bother to come up with believable excuses. She followed me and she caught me having sex with the bombshell a few days later. That was the end of our marriage." "Yes, so it's similar, but different. I never had sex with the smiling man. I never even kissed him. I don't even know his name." "I understand that Sharon. You know what the other difference is between my situation and yours?" "No what?" "That first night when I returned home to my wife, I still hadn't talked with the bombshell. I'm sorry to put it so crudely, but I fucked the shit out of my wife that night while I was thinking about the bombshell." I gasped. "And I rejected Jason." "Yes, you rejected your loving husband for your own fingers. You must have been even more infatuated with your smiling man than I was with the bombshell, and let me tell you, she was the only thing on my mind." "Not necessarily more infatuated. I still don't see why everyone is saying this is so bad. I never touched him." Richard just looked at me and shook his head. "Sharon honey, all I can say is if my current girlfriend did what you did, I would be dumping her right away. Think about it for a second. You got angry earlier when I suggested that Jason might have found another woman. What would you do if he went all gooey eyed over another woman?" "Jason would never do that." Richard sighed. "OK Sharon, we have 28 more days to respond to this petition. What do you want to do?" "What if I don't respond? He can't divorce me then can he?" "If you don't respond the judge grants all of Jason's requests and the divorce is final." "OK, so we respond that we don't want a divorce." "It doesn't work that way Sharon. We can request marriage counselling." "Do you think that will help?" "Maybe, maybe not. When you talk with Jason, I would suggest that you try not to say 'I love you' to him every other sentence. Also, try not to say that you promise never to do it again." "What? Why?" "Because that is what all of the cheaters say when they want to reconcile. It just makes things more confrontational. Try to agree with him even if he is putting you down. Try to be positive and not disagree with him." "I don't know Richard. That sounds pretty kooky to me." "Yes, well, it's not easy, but I think you will have a much better chance to get him thinking your way if you don't plead too much." "I'll think about it Richard." "So, do you want to try for counselling?" "I think so Richard. I'm still trying to figure out what happened that weekend. I assure you that I'm not normally like that." "Oh, I believe you Sharon." "So Richard. How long ago was your bombshell incident?" "That was about 10 years ago Sharon." "Has it happened again Richard? Have you become infatuated and followed another woman while you were happily attached?" Richard blushed. "One other time Sharon." "And?" "I caught myself before it got along too far and went back to my girlfriend and treated her like a princess for a few weeks." "I see, so there's hope for me?" Richard smiled. "There's always hope Sharon. I will respond with the request for counselling and let you know how things go." "OK, Thanks for listening to me Richard." "My pleasure Sharon, Good Bye." 8) When I showed up at the gym that afternoon, Mary wasn't there, so I worked out alone. A muscular young man approached me and chatted me up. I was used to men paying attention to me, but I was also used to being happily married. Now that I knew there was nobody to go home to, I found myself reacting differently. The young man was enthusiastically talking to me and brushing me lightly every once in a while and I was enjoying the attention. Then a pretty young woman entered the gym and saw us with our heads together. "Oh my God, Tim! You never stop do you? You fucking traitor!" The young man's face fell and he tried to smile at me apologetically. "You said you loved me, you asshole!" I got up and headed to the locker room where the man couldn't follow and let them hash out their differences. Obviously the young man was a player. I felt helpless. I was falling for his bullshit. I needed my Jason back. I needed my anchor. Instead I felt like a leaf blowing in the wind. The next day at work another man approached me. His name was Doug. He had a reputation for being a loner. "Sharon?" "Yes, Doug." "I know we don't know each other that well. I heard you are having troubles with your marriage. I just wanted to let you know, that I've always admired you. It's probably too soon, but I would love to get to know you better." I looked Doug over. He was tall, a tad overweight and mid 30's. He was pretty good looking though. "It's definitely too soon for that, Doug. I'm sorry." He blushed and nodded his head awkwardly. He walked away. He seemed like a nice enough guy. Not too experienced with women though. At the gym another young good looking guy approached and I fended him off. I wasn't sure if he was bullshitter or not, but I had come to a decision. I was going to stay away from men in general for a while. I kept thinking about Jason. I was wondering what he was doing. Had he already started looking for my replacement, or was he sulking? It had still only been less than a week since he kicked me in the crotch. I figured I better stay away a little longer. 9) One day in the grocery store I caught a man staring at me. I tried to ignore him and went straight home. Then I caught the same man staring at me in the food court at lunch the next day. He was well dressed and handsome. When I exited the gym that night the same well dressed man was in the food court. I bought a Gatorade and he approached me. "May I join you for a quick drink?" Up close, this man was very sexy. He looked he might be 33 or 34. He was confident. "Sure, why not?" I replied. "I'm Peter, pleased to meet you." He reached for my hand and kissed it. He stared right into my eyes. It was like he was starving and I was the only food around for miles. He was totally focused on me. It was very erotic. He was getting me revved up and we had barely said hello. "I'm Sharon, pleased to meet you as well." He smiled at me. "So why is a beautiful woman like yourself looking so sad all the time?" This guy cut right to the chase. "I'm not sure if I want to talk about that with you. I'm sorry." "Oh it's OK Sharon. I understand. You don't know me from Adam. I'm sorry I asked you such a personal question. I'm just curious. That's all." He flashed me another confident smile and he continued to stare at me. He focused right on my eyes, never wavering. He was a very intense man. I found his attention exhilarating. I was very tempted to grab his hand and drag him back to my place and fuck him right away. I tried to put the brakes on myself. "So, how long have you been following me Peter?" He blushed. "I saw you in the grocery store last night for the first time and I was captivated." The way he stared at me made my knees quiver. I tried to pretend this was a normal conversation. "What kind of work do you do Peter?" I asked. He smiled at me again. I had the feeling that he knew exactly how close I was to breaking down and caving to his relentless pressure. "I'm an investment banker, Sharon. Stocks, bonds, that sort of thing." "I see," I replied. I don't know anything about the world of finance. I just sort of stared back at him. His eyes kept drinking me in. "Sharon, would you have dinner with me tomorrow night?" "I'd love to," I replied breathily before I could stop myself. "Do you want me to pick you up or would you prefer to meet there?" I was silently kicking myself. I had resolved to stay away from men, and then I go and accept a dinner invitation in less than two weeks after separating from my husband. I think Peter noticed my inner confusion and didn't give me any chance to change my mind. "I'll see you at The Olive Garden tomorrow at 7:30 OK?" He stood up and got ready to leave. "OK then Peter. It's a date." He smiled at me. He brushed his lips against mine and then left quickly. I just sat there and argued with myself for a few minutes. When I got home, my panties were drenched. Peter had done a number or me somehow. 10) I got to the restaurant about 5 minutes early and Peter was already there. He looked so handsome. His eyes lit up when I appeared. It was obvious that I was the center of his universe. He was a wonderful conversationalist. He could talk knowledgably about many different things. All through our dinner he was very attentive to my needs. Peter was doing a very good job of winning me over. Then he asked the question again. "So Sharon, why are you sad all the time?" I thought of Jason for the first time all evening. "I was happily married Peter up until about 2 weeks ago. My husband now wants a divorce." Peter looked shocked an appalled. He asked more questions and I told him a version of the events that made me look good. "I never even touched him Peter." Peter nodded his head and said all of the things I wanted to hear. He made me see that Jason was the bad guy. Peter was so considerate and compassionate. I was enthralled with him. When Peter suggested we go back to his place and leave my car at the restaurant, I just nodded my head happily. We made love that night and it was wonderful. Peter was an excellent lover. I came three times before he even penetrated me. Then I came another couple of times during the actual sex act. He brought me back to my car late that night. It wasn't long before I had basically moved in with Peter. It was a wonderful time. He seemed to worship the ground I walked on. Then one night Peter was nowhere to be found. We had been set up to go out to a play, but he never showed up until late that night. He came to bed, but he basically ignored me. I tried to ask him where he was and he continued to pretend I wasn't there. It was very frustrating. Peter had always made me the center of his world, and now I was obviously no longer the center. This was the first night since we met for dinner that we didn't have sex. I was angry. I followed Peter the next day. Lo and behold, Peter was following another woman. She looked a lot like me from a distance. Peter was staring at her and nothing else mattered to him. I didn't need to be careful as I followed him. He was oblivious. He was totally focused on the blonde woman. That evening Peter approached the woman and smiled at her. She looked suitably impressed with him. They headed towards a table and then he smiled at her again and kissed her hand. I couldn't take it anymore. I headed to Peter's place and grabbed my stuff. I then went back to my place and cried my eyes out. I'd only been with Peter for 2 weeks or so, but they had been a glorious 2 weeks. I had been thinking that we would be together forever. It really hurt to see him fixate on another woman. It hurt a lot. How could he do that to me? He had always put me first and then he just dropped me for another woman. I started to wonder whether or not he was fucking the other woman or not, and I said to myself, "It doesn't matter whether he fucks her or not. We're done." That was the first time the parallels hit me. Peter had just done exactly what I had done with the smiling man. I was now living in Jason's shoes. I was the partner that was being ignored. The only difference was, I had only been with this man for 2 weeks. How much can that hurt? Not nearly as much as if it was your partner of 8 years obviously. "Oh Jason, I'm so sorry honey. I'm so sorry." Now I understood why everyone was so upset with me. I totally understood Jason's pain. It had almost been a month since I saw Jason last. I decided to seek him out the next day. 11) I camped out at Jason's work and waited for him to show up at his car. I watched him get in his car and drive away. I followed him. He drove to an apartment complex and parked. I watched him enter. I followed him. I saw Jason's name on the list of people who lived there. He was in apartment 914. I hung around the entrance way until a couple showed up. They held the door open for me and let me in with a smile. I eventually got my nerve up and knocked on Jason's door. He opened it and stared at me in shock. "Hi Jason." "Hi Sharon," he said with a confused look on his face. "Can I come in?" He looked undecided for a bit but then he shrugged his shoulders and held the door open for me. He didn't have very much furniture at all. "How are you doing, Jason?" I asked. He looked at me and his expression started to harden. "Fine, just fine Sharon," he almost snarled. "Look, Jason, I don't want to cause trouble. I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I also wanted to say that I now agree with you. What I did was just as bad as actual cheating. I'm so sorry Jason." His face softened for a second there but it hardened right back up again. "So are we done now Sharon? You don't have anything else you want to say?" "Oh Jason, you're hurting so much. I wish you would let me hug you." "Not going to happen Sharon." His face was getting redder and redder. "I better go then honey. I still love you, you know." He got up and held the door open for me. "Good Bye Sharon, please don't come here again." "Bye Jason," I said sadly. Jason had obviously not moved on yet. He was like a time bomb waiting to go off. I cried myself to sleep that night. 12) The next day I went back to Peter's place. I wanted to see what he had to say for himself. When I got there I found him with the other woman. They were in bed together and they obviously had just finished having sex. The room had that distinctive smell. They were cuddling. I barged in on them. "Hi Peter, why don't you introduce me to your lady friend?" Peter grimaced at me and the lady stared at me in shock. "Who's she?" asked the woman. "Molly, this is Sharon. Sharon, Molly," said Peter quietly. Molly lost it. She started screaming at him. "I thought you were different you asshole." She was bawling uncontrollably. I just stood there and glared at Peter. Molly stood up and got dressed and stormed out. She was quite beautiful. "I'll be in the living room Peter. I would like to have a little chat with you." He sighed and nodded. Eventually he came out and he still looked handsome. "So Peter, I couldn't help noticing. Molly looks a lot like me." "Yes, she does Sharon." He pulled out a drawer and then handed me a framed picture. A younger Peter was dressed in a tuxedo and he was standing next to a beautiful young woman in a wedding dress. She looked just like me. They were both smiling and you could just tell from the picture that they were head over heels in love with each other. "As you can see, you both look remarkably similar to my ex wife, Allison." "You both look so happy Peter. What happened?" "What do you think happened Sharon?" The Smiling Man "You cheated on her?" "Yes Sharon. I was married to the perfect woman. We were inseparable. She was the love of my life. She still is. But, yes, I cheated on her. More than once actually." "Did you try and reconcile Peter?" "Oh Yes, but it was too late. She caught me in the act and she couldn't get over it." "So now, you just chase after women that look like her. Is that it?" "That's basically it Sharon. I'm sorry I hurt you. I'm sorry I hurt Molly. I'm sorry I've hurt many other women that remind me of Allison. I can't help myself Sharon. I keep hoping the next woman will be just like Allison." Peter was being very friendly during this conversation. I don't know how he managed it, but I was tempted to help console him. He seemed so sad. "Well, Peter. I don't know what to say to you. Maybe you should give one of these women a chance and get to know them for who they really are. Not just try and mold them into another Allison." "I'm not proud of myself Sharon. I really am sorry that I hurt you." "Good bye Peter." "Good bye Sharon." 13) I went home and tried to get my thoughts in order. I know what some of you are thinking. How can she be sympathetic with that man? He's a serial cheater. Well, all I can say is, you would have to meet Peter. He has that knack for making you feel special. Even when we were discussing his sordid history, he made me feel special. I confess, I was tempted to go back and beg Peter to take me back and focus on only me. But I realized, he was never really focused on me, he was always focused on Allison. I decided I wanted to see what she was like. Peter was a man who could have almost any woman. All he had to do was kiss their hands and they were his. I wanted to see the woman that turned a man like Peter into a lost puppy. Maybe I could learn from her. I couldn't think of a way to find Allison on my own, so I decided to hire a private investigator. I gave the detective Peter's details and asked him to track down the ex-wife for me. While I was there I decided I really wanted to know what was going on in Jason's life, so I asked the P.I. to watch him for a few days. He promised to be discreet. The detective found Allison with no trouble. Her name is Allison Petrie. She is now married to Bill Petrie and they seem happy together. Allison does volunteer work at a free youth drop-in center downtown. I hung around the drop-in center. A steady stream of kids entered the center and left again. Finally Allison appeared. She was a little older than me and she wasn't dressed to impress but it was obvious that she had it all looks wise. She passed an older couple and smiled at them. She looked like a happy go lucky person. She headed towards a coffee shop and I followed her. I tapped her elbow and said, "Excuse me, you're Allison right?" She turned around and looked at me. Her eyes widened. "Oh my god, not another one! Please just leave me alone." I stared at Allison in shock. She was obviously normally a nice person and this was so out of character for her. She stared back at me and then she realized her error and apologized. "Sorry, that was rude. Yes, I'm Allison. What can I do for you?" "Sorry Allison. I guess you have figured out, I was recently a friend of Peter's?" She nodded her head. "You know, he's really a special man, and he's still hung up on you. I was just wondering if you are happily married to your new husband, or if you ever think of getting back with Peter again." "You're different than the others. What's your name?" "Oh sorry, I'm Sharon." "Well Sharon, I have to go now, but let's get together for lunch tomorrow over there at the deli. 12 o'clock. OK?" "Sounds like a plan Allison." She smiled at me and I left. 14) Allison was waiting for me in the deli the next day. They made a great corned beef on rye. She gave me an obvious once-over. "Yes, I can see why Peter went for you Sharon. You're gorgeous." Allison was dressed to kill that day. No matter how gorgeous I looked I couldn't look as good as she did. "Maybe compared to lesser mortals," I said with a grin. "But, Allison, today you look like a goddess." Allison blushed and said, "Thank You my dear. It's good to know that I can still impress at my age." "Oh come on. How old are you?" She grinned at me. "A lady never tells. Suffice to say I'm at least 5 years older than you. So how long did you last with Peter before he dallied?" "Oh, I was the center of his world for two weeks and then he ignored me. The lady he moved on to was gorgeous as well. Not quite in your league, but better looking than me." "Really?" "Oh yes." I held my hands up at breast level to signify that Molly had bigger breasts. Allison giggled. "Yes, our Peter has a way for finding the gorgeous women. That's for sure." She seemed to be fondly remembering for a second and then her expression darkened. "So how long were you and Peter married, Allison?" "We met at College. We were inseparable. We got married not too long after we graduated. We were married for 6 years and I loved him so much. Then I found him fucking the young girl next door. She had only just turned 18." "Wow." "Yeah, wow. She was a jaw droppingly gorgeous young woman, and I think she was a virgin before Peter deflowered her." "Wow, hard to compete with that I guess." Allison scowled. "Then I found out she wasn't the only one. Peter had been enjoying his time with the young girl's mother as well." "Wow." "Yeah, now the mother was hot as well, don't get me wrong. But she was 37 at the time. I was only 28. In an objective judging I would be hotter than her and I was devoted to Peter, but I guess that wasn't enough for him." "Do you know if there were others?" "He says no. I'm not sure I believe him." "Yeah, who knows? When did he start cheating?" "He says for about a year. Again, I'm not sure whether to believe him or not." "A year is enough, especially with two women. Did they have threesomes?" "I don't think so. I think he started with the Mom. Young Lizzie watched them and then basically blackmailed Peter into fucking her as well." "Wow. Some guys would kill to be blackmailed that way," I said with a chuckle. Allison grinned ruefully. "Yeah, I don't think Peter was complaining too hard. She really was unbelievably hot." "You seem conflicted Allison." "As you said yesterday, Peter is a special man. When I was crying my eyes out because I caught him cheating, he was so concerned for my well-being. He basically dropped young Lizzie like a hot-potato. She was obviously infatuated with him but he didn't care about her feelings at all. He was trying to make me feel better. I was starting to almost forgive him until young Lizzie mentioned that he'd been fucking her mom for a while. I lost it then. No matter how nice Peter tries to be I shut him out." "Do you love your husband Allison?" Allison sighed. "I should be in love with my husband. He is totally devoted to me. He would never even think of cheating on me. I tried to get a girl to seduce him once. He shut her down before she could even get started. He told her, 'I have the perfect woman. Why should I mess that up with the likes of you?' I'm telling you this young lady was truly beautiful. I don't know Sharon. He's wonderful really. He's just not Peter." "So you still love Peter huh?" "Part of me does for sure, just not the part in control." "I know the feeling, and I was only with him for two weeks." "I know he's still hung up on me Sharon. He keeps picking up girls like yourself that remind him of me. That's not healthy. Do you really think we could live happily ever after if we got back together?" "I don't know Allison. I really don't. I just know that he is a one of a kind man that could have almost anything he wants, but all he really wants is you." "I know that Sharon, and I'm tempted, believe me. But the thing is, once he had me again, how long do you think it would take him to want someone else?" "Who knows Allison? I sure don't. I've only known him for two weeks. I was just curious what you were like and if you were happy or not." "Well Sharon, I can't complain. I'm happy enough. Bill really is a wonderful man. You'll have to meet him sometime. Then you'll see." "Really Allison? I thought this was one time thing?" "Oh it can be if that's what you want Sharon. But I like you. I think we could become good friends." "Well Allison, I must say, I like you too. I'd love to meet your hubby sometime." "So what's your story Sharon? A lady who has as many things going for her as yourself is almost always attached to someone." "Oh Allison, let's save that story for our next time together. Suffice it to say, I was happily married to a wonderful man until I screwed it up big-time." "Oh my god, not Peter?" "No, Peter didn't have anything to do with breaking up my marriage. I met him on the rebound, so to speak." "Oh thank god. Sorry, I just hope and pray that Peter is not breaking up a string of marriages on his little quest to be with every woman on the planet that looks like me." "I really have no idea what Molly's status was when she met Peter. You're right. That would make him a truly not nice person." "Not nice person, that's one way to phrase it," said Allison with a laugh. We exchanged numbers and promised to keep in touch. 15) The private investigator gave me a report on Jason. He said that Jason went to a dance club with a male friend and tried to talk with a number of women with no real success. He went home frustrated. I asked the P.I. to follow him again the next weekend. Jason went to the same bar with the same result. He tried to pick up women with no success. I decided to hang out at that club the next weekend and watch him myself. Jason was trying too hard. He was very nervous when he talked with any woman. I could see why they all rejected him. He was socially inept. I kept hidden the whole time and he never noticed me. I came up with a plan. I cut my hair very short and dyed it red. I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked totally different. That Friday I went to the club. My pants were so tight they looked like they might be painted on. A lot of men were impressed with me. I fended them all off. Jason appeared eventually and he stared at me. He didn't recognize me at first. I tried not to stare back at him and tried to act casual. Every time I glanced at Jason he was staring at me. Finally he approached me. "Excuse me, Oh my God! Sharon?" "Hi Jason." "This was a mistake." He turned around and walked away. I followed him. "Jason honey, can't we just talk for a while?" Jason sighed and motioned for me to join him. We sat at a booth. We chatted for a while and it was much more amiable than our previous meeting. Jason wasn't brimming over with anger. We were chatting like old friends. It was really nice. "So Jason, honey, is there any chance we could try again?" He sighed. "I still love you Sharon, and I must say I am tempted, but no, I don't think that would be a good idea." My eyes started to water. "But Jason honey, I miss you so much." "Sorry, really, I'm sorry. But I just can't do it. Good bye Sharon." He stood up and left the bar. I just started bawling in the booth. Eventually I dragged my ass home to my lonely house. 16) I dated the odd guy here and there. None of them made a real impression on me. I kept thinking about Jason. Every once in a while I thought about Peter, but mostly I was thinking about Jason. None of the guys I met occupied my mind for long. Allison and I got together again a couple of times. She was hilarious. I liked her a lot. I eventually met her husband Bill as well. He was a very nice man. He was a little older than Allison and you could tell he was devoted to her. I never got the feeling that Bill was checking me out at all. This was very unusual for me. Allison tried to set me up with a guy once. He was actually really nice. We dated three times before I broke it off with him. "Jerry, you're a wonderful man, really. I'm just still hung up on my husband. I'm not even officially divorced yet honey." "Sharon, you're a special lady. I hope you eventually find what you're looking for. Best of luck." He gave me a quick peck kiss and then left me alone again. 17) I was just leaving the gym after my workout when I saw a familiar face. Peter was there waiting for me. "Hi Sharon, can we talk?" "Sure I guess, let's get a bite to eat here in the food court and we can chat while we eat." "Ok Sharon." I was thinking to myself the whole time. Is he here for me or for Allison? My money's on Allison. I got myself a Chinese combo and Peter got a couple of slices of pizza and then we sat down. "It's been a long time Peter. What's up?" "You and Allison are good friends now huh?" "Yes, I think she's actually my best friend right now, why?" "Every time I try and contact Allison she shuts me down. I was hoping you could convince her to at least listen to me." I must admit I was disappointed, but I wasn't surprised. "Look Peter, I've heard Allison's version of events and it sounds to me like there's nothing you could say that would change anything. You were fucking the neighbor lady for a year." "Yes Sharon, but it's not quite that cut and dried. If I could just explain it to her I might have a chance." "Well Peter, explain it to me right now. If you say something that I think might change her mind, then I promise to try for you." Peter sighed, "Do I really have to go through all this with you Sharon? It's very personal and I'm not proud of myself." "No Peter. You don't have to tell me anything. But if you want me to arrange a meeting, then you definitely need to tell me something." "Can't you just try for me?" "No, sorry Peter." "Ok I'll tell you the story tonight, but not here. I'd rather have you come to my place if you don't mind." I gave him a look. "Sharon, your virtue is safe from me tonight. I promise." "Fine Peter, let's go to your place." 18) Peter got us set up with drinks and then we sat down at the kitchen table. "OK Sharon, here goes. Please don't interrupt until I'm done, OK?" "OK Peter." === "I was in love with Allison. She was my everything. I never thought of other women at all. I never lusted after them. I was totally devoted to Allison. At that time she was working for an accounting firm. She enjoyed her work and everything was fine between us. We were in love. Then there was a company Christmas party. It was a fancy dress party. Allison pulled out all the stops. She looked like royalty. Every time she moved all eyes were on her. She didn't even seem to notice. We were seated with 3 other couples at the dinner table. I was on Allison's right side and her co-worker Jared was on the left. Now Jared was a young, very good looking, personable, confident man. He had shoulders if you know what I mean. I mentioned that all of the men were staring at Allison. Well, all of the women were goo goo eyed over Jared. He was always polite to me. He never did anything that would be construed as rude, at least to me. He was rude to his date though. She was a good looking young woman but Jared hardly said a word to her all night. It was almost like he forgot he was with her. Jared spent the whole night talking with Allison. Now Allison didn't ignore me. She made an effort to keep me involved in the conversation. Allison basically split her attention 50/50 between me and Jared. Jared's date got frustrated and found a couple of single guys to flirt with. We didn't see her after dinner. Allison was laughing at all of his jokes and she obviously enjoyed his company very much. I tried not to get jealous, but I couldn't help myself. Jared was an alpha male and my Allison seemed to wait on his every word. We went home after the party and I tried to be extra attentive to Allison's needs as we made love. We had a wonderful weekend together. But as time went on, Allison was putting in more hours at work. And every time she talked about work it was Jared this, and Jared that. I tried not to get jealous. I really did, but it was festering in me. I'm a numbers guy Sharon. I even was keeping a running tote of hours per week. I estimated there were 60 sleeping hours per week and that left 108 waking hours per week. I would look back and count the work hours versus the home hours. Work hours were Jared hours in my head and home hours were mine. Every time she had to work late Jared stole my time with my wife. If the work hours got to be more than the home hours in a given week I got angry. Now I never actually thought Allison was cheating on me. She still obviously loved me, and I was still totally devoted to her. I just had niggling doubts here and there. You understand? 19) Then there came a 4 day work conference in Houston. Allison left for Houston and, of course, Jared was also attending the conference. I wasn't too bad the first two days. We had nice phone conversations in the evening and everything was fine. But then came Friday night. You have to understand Sharon. Friday nights were always special between me and Allison. I thought back. I must have had a romantic Friday evening with the woman I love for the last 6 or 7 years. I couldn't think of a single Friday night when I wasn't with her. That Friday night I was sitting out on the patio drinking a beer after dinner and thinking about Allison and Jared together. Then the phone rang. It was Allison. It was a very quick conversation. She basically said, 'I love you Peter. Can't wait to see you, but I gotta go.' Then I heard somebody else talking and Allison giggled, and she sighed and she said 'Oh Jared' and then she hung up. So there I was on our romantic Friday night sitting there on the patio, alone, drinking only my second beer of the evening and muttering to myself. Have you seen those stupid commercials for the jewelry store Sharon? The ones where the good looking woman sighs and says 'He went to Jared' like that is the most romantic thing a man can do. Well I had my own little commercial running through my head. Except the person sighing in envy is one of Allison's girl co-workers talking about Allison. And she's sighing romantically. 'She's with Jared.' And then there was the variation where it was Allison sighing romantically and saying 'I'm with Jared.' So there you are Sharon. I was wallowing in self pity, thinking about my beautiful wife enjoying herself with another man. I was arguing with myself. 'She's cheating with Jared. You know she is.' 'No, she can't be cheating. She loves me. She would never do that. 'How can you be so naïve? It's obvious.' This was my state of mind. I firmly believe that I would have had a rough night and then Allison would have come home and allayed my fears and everything would have been fine. Except now we meet the true bad guy in this whole sordid story. Not Jared, no, the bad guy is actually an evil woman and her name is Teresa. 20) Teresa, as you've probably heard was a busty good looking 37 year old woman and also my neighbor. She had her sights set on me as soon as we moved in. I was no Adonis but I was in good shape. I was much younger than her, and worst of all, I ignored all of her little ploys to show off her body. She tried tempting me from the get go, and I just ignored her flirting and talked with her like there wasn't any flirting happening at all. I think that was the wrong approach when I look back. That just pissed her off. I should have flirted back. Anyways, Teresa saw me alone and obviously frustrated and she seized her opportunity. She let herself into our back yard and sauntered over. Of course she was barely decent. She was in a bikini and a light cover up that really covered nothing. I didn't even notice what she was wearing. I swear. I was still watching Jared commercials in my head.
