Quietly, she waited in the queue for the desk sergeant. She kept her head down, but watched the antics of some of the newly arrested with amusement. Ellie saw a man, dressed as Superman, drunkenly trying to prove himself to be Clark Kent. At the same time, another drunk man having a conversation with the wall. "Next, please," the harassed desk sergeant called and Ellie realized that it was her turn. "I'd like to speak with Detective Winston, please," Ellie asked as she walked up to the desk. The man eyed her for a moment, "Do you now, what's it regarding?" Ellie inwardly hated using her 'voice', a special power that commanded others to do her bidding, but this really wasn't the place to talk, no telling who was listening or waiting for her. So she used the 'voice' and repeated, "I'd like to speak with Detective Winston, please." The man looked at her for a brief moment as the 'voice' took effect, then dialled Detective Winston's extension number. "Hi, there's someone here to see you, a miss..." "Ellie," she said giving only her first name. "...Ellie. Send her up? Okay. Right, detective will see you, third floor, take the elevator." Ellie thanked the desk sergeant, and walked quickly towards the elevator. She hated elevators, they felt like death traps, but she took this one so not to appear suspicious. There were many people waiting for the elevator, but Ellie made sure she got on first, and pushed the button for the third floor. She chose a spot on the side, so she could slip out with ease. Holding a breath, she waited for the doors to close and the elevator to start to ascend. Finally, when the doors had closed and the elevator reached the third floor quicker than expected, Ellie happily exited it. The third floor was hectic, there were people everywhere. Ellie hated knowing that she would draw attention for being an unfamiliar face on the floor, but she tried to act as if she belonged there. Luckily, people started going back to their cases and stopped looking at her as she started to relax. Finally, she came upon Detective Winston's office. He was one of the lucky few who had an actual office not located in the bull pen. She saw that he was on the phone, and she quietly shut the door before taking a seat across from him. He noticed Ellie for the first time, and quickly ended the conversation. "Detective Ellie Prescott, long time, no see, how are you?" "Fair to middling, I suppose. Though I've asked you many times to call me Ellie, just Ellie," she responded with a small half laugh. Detective Winston was her liaison with the NYPD, and though he didn't know her full identity, he was the honest sort who kept any of her involvement on a need to know basis, just as she liked it. "I heard you're the lead detective on the Rain de Guerre case. I've been hired to work the same case and wondered if you could bring me up to speed on any lab findings?" Ellie asked after a moment. Detective Winston scratched his head, "Nothing's came back from the lab yet, just the preliminary report that I'm sure you received. There are no leads right now, I hope you'll be able to turn some up soon." "Rest assured, I'm definitely going to hit the ground running. Where's the vehicle being kept?" Ellie asked. "In evidence, I can get you access to it in a few days. Sorry, got to clear the ATF red tape first." Ellie nodded, "I can accept that, how about the crime scene?" "I knew you'd want to see that right away. Here, I got you a special pass to get access to it. Don't lose the pass; you'll need it in the morning to get into evidence." Ellie nodded again. "Oh! Before I forget, the record company sent you this pass too, so you can work where you need to, or visit who you need to within the company. If you need to speak with Rain, call the number on the back of the card. It's for his head of security." "I rather think I'll be okay without talking to him," Ellie said a tad icily. The detective raised his eyebrows at that remark. Ellie decided to amend what she said by adding, "It's best for everyone that we keep my involvement to a minimum until we know with what we're dealing with. If I need any further information from him, I'll send you a message with the questions to ask him." "Fair enough, thanks Ellie, I'll be seeing you in the morning, I know you like to see everything early, but I've got a few meetings tomorrow early, so how about we meet at 9 AM?" Ellie nodded her head in agreement and got up to leave. She wanted to be done with this case before anyone found out she was here. * * * Rain sat down beside Silver, who had just completely finished hacking the Enigma system. Silver was not only a strong fighter, but he was extremely techno-savvy, having started out as one of the original hackers. He had made quick work of the firewalls, but finding the information about the mysterious detective was harder than they had thought it would be. Apparently, every file about the mysterious detective was encrypted, then re-encrypted, and then hidden on a ghost drive. It was obvious that Enigma hadn't done that, because the IP addresses didn't match up. That meant someone from outside the firm had encrypted the information. When they checked the IP addresses, it appeared to come from the Ellington Conglomerate, a powerful group of companies. The Ellington name vaguely rang a bell with Rain, but he couldn't place it. Besides, he was more interested in finding out if it was her or not. He watched the screen intently as the final encryption broke and a file appeared. Silver turned to Rain and muttered, "About damn time, this thing has been a hassle." "Open it man, I need to know who she is," Rain said impatiently. Silver shook his head with silent exasperation. As his long white gold hair swayed, Rain was momentarily distracted; it was hard not to be, Silver was a very gorgeous man. He was paler than Rain, almost as pale as moonlight, with vibrant grey eyes that could only be described as liquid silver, hence his name. No one knew his real name, or where he came from, but Rain had a feeling his origins were Norwegian or Swedish, because he had heard the man cuss in those languages before. Suddenly a picture of her loaded up on the screen, and Rain gasped. There was no denying it, it was all in front of them, the detective was Ellie Prescott. "Print the picture and the info, Silver, so I've got something to show to Dante." "Show what to me?" Dante asked from behind Rain. Rain looked back and saw him standing in the doorway. Beckoning Dante to him, he said, "Dante, quick, have a look, it's her, it's really Ellie." Dante didn't say anything, he quickly strode across the room and looked at the photo of Ellie. The photo was date stamped, stating that it had been taken three months ago. He leaned down and hugged Rain, "So, we finally have her within reach. Good. I got a call from Detective Winston stating that the detective from Enigma had just arrived and spoken with him. She's on her way to look at the crime scene." "Let's go then," Rain said, jumping up excitedly. "Remember the plan, Rain, otherwise she'll run and we won't get a second crack at it." Rain nodded in agreement, though he had a wicked gleam in his eyes as if he was anticipating what was to come. * * * Ellie stood on the rooftop overlooking the building where the scene of the crime lay. She had a set of binoculars around her neck, but she didn't need them; she could see the street and building quite clearly. She could see a uniform policeman still stationed in front of the building, though Ellie was looking for something or someone out of the ordinary. It might seem strange to look at a crime scene two nights after the crime had occurred, but from Ellie's experience that was generally when the criminal came back to view his handiwork. After all, the first night would be a hot bed of police activity, every person who lingered around the scene would be scrutinized as a suspect, and no criminal worth their salt ever wants to be a suspect right away. Ellie lifted her camera to her right eye and started to zoom in and take pictures of the street below to look over more thoroughly later. She continued taking pictures for fifteen minutes before she became alert to the presence of someone else there. Ellie spun around ready to dart out of sight but it was too late, Rain and Dante were already there. "How the hell did you know I was here?" she demanded, trying to buy time to think of an escape plan on the fly. "Really Ellie, you're a born Dhampir, your blood is different, we can smell it. It's quite a powerful lure. So did you miss us, Ellie ma cherie?" Rain asked. "No, can't say that I did," Ellie muttered as she decided to feign left before shooting past them on the right. Unfortunately, Dante was the first to act, recognizing her plan and moving in a blurred motion, catching her in his arms. He held onto her tightly, effectively immobilizing her. "Let me go," Ellie demanded. "Nope, it's high time we talked, Eleanor," Dante returned. "There's nothing to talk about!" Just as she said that, Dante reacted swiftly. He tightened his hold as he misted them off the roof top. When they rematerialized, they were on the balcony of an unfamiliar apartment. Ellie fought to free herself, as she panicked. "Calm down, Ellie, no one's going to hurt you!" Dante called. "Let me go, let me go!" Dante spun Ellie around and tilted her head up. Without warning he swooped down and kissed her. Ellie went completely stock still as shock replaced her panic. Only Rain had kissed her before, and that had been limited to one encounter which had sent her fleeing from a soiree as if the hounds of hell had been after her. Dante trailed his tongue around the edges of Ellie's lips until she gasped in shock. Using her surprise to his advantage, Dante plunged his tongue into her mouth, though he was mindful of being too forceful. After all, he hadn't wanted to dominate or overpower Ellie; he wanted it to be sweet and sultry, a taste of what life could be like for Ellie. Surprisingly, Ellie clung to him as she tentatively kissed him back, though she was completely unsure of what to do. Dante taught Ellie as he suckled her tongue before returning to duel with it. They were both lost in the kiss until someone cleared their throat. Breaking apart they both looked over at Rain. "Pas Juste, I want a turn, though I realize it must wait until later. We really do need to talk and don't you dare think of trying to escape, Ellie. We will continue to hunt you down I promise it for this has been long overdue." "No, I mean what I said; there's nothing to talk about," Ellie returned. Rain scowled at Ellie, "Two hundred years ago you nearly got me killed. If nothing else, I demand that you hear us out. You owe both of us that much." Ellie rubbed her face before she sighed, "Fine, I will hear you out." Dante cautiously let Ellie go as Rain turned and opened the balcony door. Ellie moved past him then suddenly ducked behind him. Dante was momentarily perplexed until he realized what had caused Ellie to do that. Ellie had seen Silver and, instinctively, she had ducked in between Rain and Dante for shelter as she cowered. Rain looked over his shoulder briefly before looking up and seeing the knowing look in Dante's eye. After all, both knew that Ellie wouldn't have sought refuge between them if she was truly scared. No, instinctively, she trusted them though her deep rooted fear probably kept her from believing it. "Hi Silver, we'd like you to meet Ellie. Say hello, Ellie," Rain stated. Ellie rested her head against his back as she slowly shook her head no. "Ellie, I told you that you are safe, Silver is a long time friend and is currently protecting Rain from the maniac who tried to kill him. Go on, say hello," Dante encouraged. Ellie looked up at him with large doe-like, wine-coloured eyes and shook her head wordlessly again; though this time she added a silent plea asking him not to push it. Rain and Dante knew not to push her that hard as both looked to Silver apologetically. "Sorry Silver, um..." Rain started. "It's alright, I'm not offended. Right, I'll give you some privacy. Call me if you need anything." "Thanks Silver," Dante said as he watched the other man disappear. "That was rude, Eleanor," Rain scolded without looking back at her as he sat down on the couch. "It wasn't intentional, I don't like strangers," Ellie said in her own defense. "Oh, I am well aware of that, your paranoid nature is beyond enough," Rain retorted. "Well, excuse me for living, if I offend you so much then why don't you just leave me be." Rain shook his head, "It doesn't offend me, it exasperates me. I can't help but think of everything we've lost out on because of your paranoid nature. We could have all been happy!" "We wouldn't have been, I am not the right woman for you at all. Whatever animalistic nature we were struck with has long since faded..." Ellie started. "...Has it Ellie? That's news to me, because it didn't seem like it when we kissed a moment ago. You wanted me, you still want me and better yet, you still want Rain. No matter how much your paranoia says that you don't, your body says it does, we can smell your lust," Dante said quietly from behind her. "So what, my mind rules me, not by body," Ellie retorted. Rain snorted, "I don't doubt that, but come now, ma cherie, everyone has a moment of weakness and I wonder what keeps you warm in that cold lonely bed at night? Is it the thought of us, like we think of you, do you scream our name as your hand seeks self-relief?" Ellie coloured, "I don't have to answer that." "No you don't, but your expression tells me that I am spot on." "I don't do that, you, you crass bully," Ellie sputtered. "You don't self pleasure? Seriously, Ellie, no wonder you're paranoid, you know it was one of the treatments of hysteria." "I am not hysterical!" "You're near enough to it now," Dante commented. "Urgh... you said you wanted to seriously talk and you two haven't done that at all." "Oh we have been seriously talking but judging by your mutinous expression it is not the type of conversation you want to have. Whatever. Anyway, it is time Ellie that you pay the piper." "'Pay the piper'? What on Earth do you mean?" Rain summoned a piece of paper from the air, "Do you know what this is, Ellie?" Ellie lied as she shook her head faintly, though her mouth went dry. It couldn't be, surely Craven or someone else must have burned it. "Oh, I think you do - judging by the look of horror on your face. Yes, Ellie this is our betrothal contract, which as you know in the Vampyr world is serious business. Trying to break one of these can cause serious repercussions. Ours has been a little modified, because in the vampire world, as it happens, two do not mate but three. Therefore, this bonds Dante, myself and you together in near wedded bliss, ma petite," Rain drawled. "No, no, it can't be. Surely Craven burnt it or got rid of it," Ellie murmured. Though she knew the truth of it, despite being unofficial, Craven was still considered one of the leaders of the vampires. When Rain had been first turned into a vampire she had gone to Craven to seek a solution to turn him back human and to stop her aunt from going further off the deep end by trying to kill Rain. Craven had sworn that he'd only help her this time if she swore to become betrothed to whomever he chose. Evidently, he hadn't been able to save Rain or her aunt, but, regardless of the failure, she had still signed the papers in her own blood first. By doing so, she was bound to whoever else signed the papers. There was no way out of it, all Rain and Dante had to do was declare themselves and her fate was sealed. Ellie felt herself tumble to the ground as darkness encroached her vision. In a blink of an eye, Dante caught her and laid her down on the couch that he had been sitting on. Ellie started to take low shallow breaths. "Just breath Ellie, just breath, everything will be alright," Dante said as he knelt down beside her. "No, it won't," she choked out. "It will, but we'll talk about that in a moment, now calm down love," Dante said soothingly as he brushed her hair softly. Ellie still felt panic but Dante's tenderness was starting to have the desired effect as she started to calm down. Soon, Rain joined in, as he rubbed her back and said things in French that she didn't quite hear over the pounding of her heart. Once that ebbed away and the stars disappeared from her vision, Ellie slowly sat up. "Burn it, just get rid of it completely and we can all continue on as before," she said quietly. Rain looked at her for a long moment with a dark look before he said quite clearly, "Like hell, Ellie. For I, Rainier Alexandre Montgomery de Fortenot, declare my intentions to enter into a betrothal with you, Eleanor Aquitaina Reina Prescott and you, Dante Cyril William Caldwell." "No," Ellie said in denial, wishing he would take back the words. "I won't take them back Ellie, my part is done. Dante..." Rain said looking at him. Ellie looked at him wide eyed, hoping he wouldn't utter the words. Dante bit his lip as if he wished that things were different, but he, too, declared himself. "Oh, God," Ellie mumbled as she drew herself in and made herself as small as possible. "You signed that of your own free will Ellie, don't say for one moment that you did it to protect me. That was evident when you left me alone with your aunt, who locked me in a cage and tried to kill me, instead of taking me to Craven directly. Don't play the martyr now, it is time to grow up and face the world, no more hiding." "Why, why! Why couldn't you both have said no!" Ellie shouted at them in anger. "You know why, you little fool, from day one we were always meant to be. Don't lie, don't shake your head in denial. I know you felt it then, with both of us, as we felt it. I know you feel it now, tell me honestly that you don't want us!" Rain snapped. "Just because I want you, doesn't mean I want to act on it!" Ellie shouted back at him. "That has to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard. You want us but you don't want to act upon it? Why, what's holding you back?" "It isn't right!" Ellie retorted. Dante shook his head, "It may be a taboo relationship, Ellie, but it has always been right." "No, that's not what I meant, what I meant is that you'll take over my life and ruin everything!" "Like hell!" "Calm down the both of you. Right, yelling at each other will do no good. Ellie, we've searched for you for nearly two hundred years, that alone should tell you that we've always wanted to be with you. I desire you and want to be a part of your life as much as I want to be with Rain. I can see you're about to go off the deep end with your fears, but all I ask of you is that we spend the next week getting to know one another," Dante stated trying to bring peace. "I don't want to," Ellie retorted. "Well, too bad, ma belle, you have to, now," Rain snapped back. "Rain, you are not helping. Look give us the next week or so to prove you wrong Ellie, if by the end of the week, after getting to know us, you still are adamantly against it. We'll all speak with Craven to see if there's a way around it." "I warn you Ellie, if you run at any point, the deal is off and we stay betrothed," Rain stated firmly. Scarlet Queen Ch. 02-03 "Ugh, I'm not happy with this, but fine, I agree to the week only, but nothing is going to change my mind." "We'll see about that," Rain responded before he continued, "Now, like all good bargains let's seal this with a kiss." Ellie scowled at him as if to say, 'not in a million years'. "Well since you want to stay betrothed so much..." Rain trailed off. Ellie lunged off the couch with her dhampir speed, intent on giving him a peck on the cheek. Rain was ready for her as he caught her in his arms and kissed her thoroughly. Their tongues angrily duelled for supremacy until their mutual rage turned to passion. Ellie gripped his shoulder as Rain tipped her back and deepened the kiss. He poured in all the lust, frustration and feelings that he'd had for her for the past two hundred years. He never willingly admitted it to anyone outside of Dante, but he needed both of them as much as he needed to breathe. It had galled him to see Ellie hadn't been as affected as he was, but he knew that it was all a ruse. She could act like the cool one all she wanted, but Ellie was just as desperate for them, it was etched into her. Even now, in the kiss that she supposedly didn't want to bestow, she hung onto him for dear life, refusing to let go this small comfort. Eventually, Rain was able to pull back, though Ellie did utter a small protest. That was until Dante swooped down on her. Releasing Ellie fully, Rain sat back and watched the two of them, as a smile drew across his face. Oh yes, Ellie was exactly where she subconsciously wanted to be, and it was up to Dante and Rain to prove it. - something that Rain relished the thought of. Chapter Three It had been three days since the bargain had been made and Ellie was at her wits end. Dante and Rain were seriously complicating her life and, far from wanting out of this new relationship, she was contemplating the madness of staying betrothed. Ellie seriously felt like she was teetering into a scary abyss that was the unknown. Rain and Dante hadn't been as forceful as Ellie had expected them to be though; in fact, they were anything but. Both had acted like perfect gentlemen, giving Ellie nothing to complain about much to her disgruntlement. To add further stress, she wasn't making the usual headway she made with cases. So far, she had been chasing her tail and dead ends. Entering into Rain and Dante's apartment in a pique after chasing down another dead end, Ellie was looking for an irrational fight. Unfortunately, since she came back to their apartment two hours early, neither Rain nor Dante were up and expecting her. On a random whim, Ellie decided to hunt them down and sort out all this unsettling nonsense that she felt. After all, she was a rational, intelligent woman, surely she could find something to explain this all away and retreat back into the world that made the most sense for her. Out of habit she hung her jacket on a nearby peg and aligned her shoes and backpack underneath. Looking around the large, open concept floor plan, Ellie sought a clue as to their whereabouts. It almost seemed like they weren't home, but Ellie knew better, she could feel their presence. She then spotted a door ajar on the upper level. "Ah ha, that's where they are," Ellie muttered to herself. Completely out of character, Ellie used her dhampir abilities and misted up the stairs. She placed her hand on the knob intent on opening the door fully when a sound stopped her. Ellie let go of the handle as her curiosity got the better of her and she leaned forward to peer through the crack. At first she didn't see much until Rain stepped into her line of view. He had one of his arms wrapped around Dante's neck and the other seemed to trail Dante's chest. They both seemed to have just gotten out of the shower as they had the wet sheen of water still glistening on their skin. Both also had towels that were hanging precariously on their hips, tantalizingly close to coming off. Ellie licked her dry lips as she fervently wished the towels would fall. The towels didn't fall on their own, but Dante tugged both free and let them hit the ground. Ellie couldn't see it directly but she saw Dante's hand dip low before Rain let out a groan between kisses. Ellie could take no more and stepped back from the door. The scene was above and beyond her secret fantasies. She couldn't believe how hot they looked together and she needed relief from the deep burning lust she felt. Ellie misted a second time, this time to the guest room that she had been sleeping in. Ripping off her work tights and panties, Ellie made a beeline for the bed. Though she'd never admit it, Ellie knew how to release the sexual tension that snuck up on her from time to time - mainly when she thought about Rain and Dante. Diving under the covers as if to hide her secret, Ellie's right hand slipped down towards her own loins. She bit her lips and turned her head towards the pillow just as her fingers parted her pussy lips then slipped up to her clit. "Well, well, looks like curiosity caught you after all, ma belle," Rain whispered in her ear. Ellie completely froze in shock as she felt a horrid blush burn in her cheeks. "Go away, I'm trying to sleep," Ellie retorted trying desperately to hide her activity by moving her hand slowly away. In a flash, Rain pulled the comforter away causing Ellie to gasp in shock and spin to look at him. Unfortunately, he wasn't the only one there, Dante behind him. Both still stark naked with erections Ellie could clearly see. "Busted," Rain called as Ellie realized where he was staring. With a gasp she pulled her hand away and sat up quickly. "It isn't what you think?" Ellie defended stupidly. "That you are trying to self pleasure after spying on us. Honestly, Ellie, we knew you were there, we felt your presence the moment you opened the door. We've also felt your frustration and loneliness. Why don't we forgive everything in the past for one night, and seek mutual pleasure? Please Ellie, don't turn us away," Dante said quietly. Ellie felt panicky again, "I can't do that, I'm too scared." Dante moved cautiously towards Ellie, "Shh, Ellie, I promise no full blown sex tonight and nothing terribly kinky. Just one night of mutual pleasure, and at any point you can say stop. We so swear it, right, Rain?" "Yup but only use those words if you truly mean it Ellie, because the moment you utter stop there will be absolutely no more for the night," Rain warned. Ellie bit her lip, feeling indecisive again. A part of her was terrified of what lay beyond. Ellie hated not knowing something, but there was another part of her that wanted this. In that exact moment, she heartily sick of being so alone and wanted desperately the one thing she refused to let herself have -happiness. Slowly, Ellie nodded her head and then found her voice. "Alright, one night then." Dante and Rain both gave her a small smile. Inwardly, they knew they had finally won the first major battle. "Come here, Ellie," Rain whispered as he beckoned her gently. Ellie scooted tentatively towards the edge of the bed and placed her feet on the ground. With a shaky sigh, she stood up and slowly crossed the short distance to them. Though that small distance, to Ellie, felt like a chasm. Both men hugged her for a moment before they both took over. Dante started to kiss Ellie as Rain undressed her. As Rain slowly undid each button on her dress shirt, his hands slipped underneath her clothes, exploring her skin. Once it was fully unbuttoned, Rain pulled it off and trailed kisses along her collarbone cupping her breasts then beginning to massage them. Ellie let out a moan when Rain unhooked her bra. Dante drew back and looked down as Rain drew away the bra. "My God Ellie, you're breathtaking," Dante murmured. Ellie felt her cheeks redden, "Don't look, it's embarrassing." "No, ma belle, it's not. You are perfection, though you don't seem to see it in yourself. Mon Dieu, I remember when you would pretend to be a wallflower, and, at all those fancy parties we attended, there was not a man who laid eyes on you that didn't immediately want you. Not to mention, I've always wondered what treasures lay beneath those plain clothes." "Mmm, it is true, Ellie, I often wondered the same. But, the truth is far better than the image I had in my head. Though there's another image I want to see better, and that's you in ecstasy Ellie," Dante said while pulling the zip down on her skirt. "Right, now is the time for bed otherwise I fear we may never get there, though I'm not opposed to that," Rain murmured in Ellie's ear and then ran his tongue along the edge of the whorl. Ellie shivered as a bolt of electricity ran up her spine. Then, she started to move back towards the bed. Rain chuckled, "No, no, ma chere Ellie, that one will not do, it's too small. Come, we go to the bed that is big enough for us to share." Ellie looked up at him in confusion. Rain couldn't help it and bent down his head to kiss her. His tongue duelled lazily with her until he pulled away. In the span of a second, Rain managed to mist all three of them to the main bedroom. Dante moved back to the bed as Rain took over momentarily. Rain moved Ellie back until her legs met the bed and she tipped backwards against the soft bedding. Dante lay on his stomach facing her left side. He had one hand under his chin as he stroked Ellie's cheek with his other. He didn't say anything as she stared at him for a long moment. Distracted, Ellie didn't notice Rain until he parted her legs. "What?" Ellie gasped out as she looked back at him. Rain smiled at her then tried to look innocent, "Nothing but pleasure, ma belle, promise." With that he pushed up Ellie's legs so that her feet were resting on a small ledge that stuck out slightly from the bed. "Convenient, no?" Dante asked as he winked at Ellie. "Very," Rain responded parting Ellie's mons with his fingers and then giving her slit a slow lick. Ellie nearly jumped out of her skin as she let out a near wail. Rain let out a small chuckle then continued lapping her juices and sucking her clit. Dante moved forward and bent his head towards Ellie's left breast. Catching her nipple in his teeth, he bit down teasingly then swirled his tongue and sucked. One of his hands found her other breast and continued to tease and strum. Ellie moaned and thrashed as she felt her climax start to build. Rain changed tactics then as he latched his mouth on her slit completely and thrust his tongue directly in. Ellie let out another wail as it proved to be too much and she came hard. Rain continued to lap her juices before both men moved to look at Ellie, who was feebly trying to recover from her first true orgasm. "You alright, Ellie?" Rain asked as he moved to lie beside Ellie. "Yeah... that was magical," she whispered. Both men chuckled. "Don't worry, that is only a taste of what is to come, tonight will continue to be one magical night," Dante promised as he helped move Ellie to the middle of the bed. "Wait, there's more?" Ellie asked as her feeble brain tried to grasp that concept. "Oh yes, we have a lot to show," Rain said as they both proceeded to do exactly that. Much later on, in the wee hours of the morning, Rain and Dante lay on their sides looking down at a now sleeping Ellie in between them; she had passed out about twenty minutes ago. Both were exhausted too, but they couldn't help but stare in amazement that Ellie was truly in their bed. Neither had honestly expected this. They couldn't have believed their good fortune when Ellie came home earlier pent up and went looking for them. Both Dante and Rain knew that she was looking to pick a fight so that she could find some way of justifying everything that was happening. It had been Rain who decided to play dirty and give Ellie a show. He had expected her to peek and then immediately flee in terror when she saw them about to make love. Never in his wildest dreams did he expect her to peek and then seek self relief. Rain knew right then and there that Ellie was truly the woman for them. Confronting her with it had been icing on the cake, especially when she had pretty much admitted it. "Dante, I've always wished that this day would come but I never expected that it truly would," Rain whispered as he stroked Ellie's face. "We still have to proceed cautiously, Ellie will try to rationalize this as a one off, we both know that, but we just need to keep at it and win her over," Dante murmured as he leaned up and kissed Rain over Ellie. "You're right, Dante, mon amour, though I want you to know that, no matter what, you have my heart too. I love you very much," Rain whispered again. "Oh, I know and I love you too, Rain. I realize that jealousy should be expected in a three-way relationship but I just don't feel it. It just feels right to be like this," Dante said as he reached across Ellie and held both of them. Rain's cell phone buzzed, interrupting the moment. With a near silent curse, Rain reached up on the nightstand for it and flipped it open. He read the text briefly, then sent back one in turn and put the phone back where it was. "Detective Winston apparently knows Ellie is with us, and he wants us to let her know that ATF gave her clearance to see the components of the bomb. He says he'll meet her at nine sharp." "I'll wake her up in the morning and take her there, we both know you aren't good with anything before noon." Rain chuckled at the understatement before he yawned. Kissing Dante once more before he kissed Ellie, he settled in beside her and wrapped his arm around both his lovers and drifted off to peaceful sleep. * * * Ellie felt something stroking her face to awaken her. Irritated, she swatted the hand away before someone chuckled. "Come on Ellie love, it's time to get up you've got work to go to," a deep male voice murmured. "Wait, what?" Ellie asked sleepily as she slowly came awake, blinking sleepily at Dante. "Detective Winston called late last night; apparently he got you clearance to view the mechanics of the bomb today and he wants to see you by nine." Ellie came wide awake at the news and shot up, then she remembered what happened last night. She could feel a panic attack starting when she realized that she was stark naked save for a thin sheet. "Oh my God..." Ellie murmured. "Hey, hey, don't panic, everything will be alright. The world hasn't tilted on its axis, nothing horrendous is coming your way. Just breathe and know that when you're done today we'll be here for you to continue to explore where this all goes," Dante said. "Why do you have to be so rational?" Ellie asked as she let out a slow breath. Dante chuckled, "Someone has to be. Come on princess, we don't have much time, especially if you want a cup of tea on the way to work." Dante rolled out of bed first, and Ellie try to follow suit, but she wasn't ready to bare her body to Dante's view just yet despite what had happened last night. She just wasn't ready to face that yet. Ellie held the sheet tight, but, unfortunately for her, Rain rolled over and trapped a big part of it underneath him. Losing her grip, Ellie tumbled out of the bed naked but quickly grabbed a discarded t-shirt from the floor. Pulling it on, she looked up to Dante, who just shook his head in amusement. "What?" Ellie defended. "Nothing, Ellie, I will say absolutely nothing on the matter. Anyway, I moved your clothes into our closet with my mind last night." Dante said. "What? Why?" Ellie hissed. "Because Ellie, that's where they belong," he retorted. Ellie sputtered but Dante pulled her into the walk-in closet before she could freak out. "I haven't decided yet," Ellie declared. Dante shook his head at her again, "Ellie, be upset at me all you want, I'm a big boy and I can take it but, before you flip out, I want you to think really hard about what really upsets you. When you truly have your answer, we'll talk about it tonight. As for why I keep staying wait until tonight, I want you to go out into the world as the stellar detective I know you to be and leave no stone unturned in the search for the asshole who tried to kill Rain. Deal?" Ellie scowled slightly, "That was a given, I'm not playing around with this case, you know. I take my work really seriously." "Oh, I know Ellie, and, in fact, I'm really happy that you're on the case. I've seen your case history from Enigma and it's impressive. Right now let's get dressed; times a wasting." Ellie looked around the rather large room and remarked, "You have enough clothes to make a Dandy froth at the mouth with jealousy." Dante shrugged his shoulder and replied, "Most of them if not all, are for gigs, photo-ops, parties and that sort of thing, you know? Anyway, we tend to wear just boxers at home. We use to go around naked, but after the sixth or seventh cleaning lady fainted, hit her head on the kitchen table, and needed an ambulance, we thought it best to wear something." "I don't know whether to be dismayed or amused. Poor woman, I'm assuming that she no longer works here." "Oh no, she still works for us, she'll be here later, around five or so in the evening." Ellie shook her head and eyed up the clothes that she brought with her. They were hanging neatly by themselves in the middle of the rack. Dante moved past her and started to rummage through the rack, clucking in dismay. "So boring Ellie, even you skirts are horrid. Who wears plain black skirts that end past the knee? And black blouses? So depressing, Ellie. What you need is colour, like red, it suits you the most." "Once a dandy, always a dandy," Ellie muttered. "I was never a dandy, Ellie, you know that. If I was anything it would be a rake, and even rakes had to dress with care to seduce. Oh, I forgot to check, but do you have stockings?" "No, why on earth would I wear those, I have tights." Dante sighed like a depressed little boy, "Lame." Ellie rolled her eyes and grabbed a serviceable bra, panties and pair of tights from the suitcase underneath her clothes. She manoeuvred herself under the t-shirt to dress herself without taking the shirt off and giving Dante a show. He frowned at her for the lack of a show, and shook his head in mock disappointment as he inwardly laughed. He passed her the black skirt and black blouse as she shed the t-shirt quickly and pulled them on. Dante grabbed a pair of jeans and a t-shirt at random, not bothering to add underwear. He changed quickly before he caught Ellie's hand and pulled her to the end of the closet where a cosmetic table lay. "Do I need to ask, why you have one of these?" Ellie asked eyeing the table as she sat down on the small chair. "We're Goth rockers, makeup is a tool of the trade." "Sure," Ellie acquiesced. Dante rolled his eyes before picked up a brush and starting to brush Ellie's hair. "I don't need a maid to do my hair, this isn't the nineteenth century," Ellie huffed. Dante pursed his lips, "Shush, I'm already letting where you wear those hideous clothes against my better judgement, and I refuse to let you look more of sight by hiding your face with your hair like a cheesy horror villain. You really need to look more appropriate." "Appropriate for what? I'm a detective for goodness' sake. I need to dress like one." "'Miss Marple' might have worked in the forties, but the 'Femme Fatale' detectives are much more effective at catching the bad guys these days." "Ugh, there's no winning with you is there? Is this going to take long? I really need a cup of tea and its going to take ages to get to the precinct." Scarlet Queen Ch. 02-03 "I'm going to drive you princess, so no worries there. And as I said before, there will definitely be a stop for tea and scones on the way, Lady Eleanor." "I don't need you to drive me. I can survive on my own you know." Dante rolled his eyes again but didn't bother to answer, as he stopped brushing her hair and picked up a kirby pin to hold back the part that usually fell into her face. He pulled it back and gazed at Ellie's face as he contemplated make up. Dante decided against it. Ellie didn't need makeup; she was a rare beauty, especially when it came to her eyes. Their deep vibrant wine colour seemed to make her almost appear ethereal. Those same eyes glared at him in annoyance while he took in her features. "Stay there," Dante said as he rummaged through the accessory drawers. He picked out a too small silver bracelet he had got from a promo, and silver skull and crossbone necklace. Putting them on Ellie, he inwardly sighed, making a mental note to go shopping for her at a favourite boutique after he dropped her off. Ellie really needed clothes that suited her better. He knew she'd balk if she found out, especially because it was his and Rain's intention to show her off at some time in the near future. Not that Dante and Rain were going to be in the spotlight much longer. They had played the role of rockers to the point that people were questioning their youthful appearance. There were only so many times you could claim to have work done, before someone realized that there was no way you had that many surgeries and didn't look like a squirrel or a clown. They had already made plans to disappear completely from the spotlight. They just needed a believable accident. This whole attempt on Rain's life could be the answer they were looking for. Maybe they could fake their deaths and make sure the blame landed squarely on the shoulders of the bastard who had made the attempt. It would be a kind of poetic justice. Dante inwardly grinned at the thought, and decided to tell Rain later of his grand scheme. Walking out of the closet, Dante saw that Rain was still dead to the world. "Rain," Dante called loud enough to wake his lover. "What's it? Eight o'clock man, it's only eight," Rain declared as he awoke with a start and looked at the clock first before focusing blearily on Dante. Dante could wake up early and be able to function on very little sleep, but Rain could not. He had never been a morning person. Rain still chose to rise at noon or even later. "I'm taking Ellie to meet Detective Winston so she can look over the evidence. I've got another errand to run after, so I'll be back in about an hour or two." "'Kay, happy for you, cheers," Rain mumbled incoherently, falling instantly back asleep. "Is his state permanent?" Ellie asked with a frown. "Nope, he'll be better later, Rain's just not a morning person. Come on, Ellie, let's go get that much needed cup of tea." Ellie looked up at Dante sharply and declared, "Well, what are we standing about for? Let's go."Dante laughed softly, apparently some things hadn't changed with her including her obsession with tea.
