"Well you should know me by now Luke, I NEVER do what I'm told!" responded rival lycan Braydon, smiling at Luke devilishly. "You aren't welcomed here! Gather your pack mates and leave town!" Braydon Ford and his pack were not welcomed by any of the neighboring lycan packs. Mostly made up of thugs, Braydon's pack was known for causing a lot of trouble and attacking humans. They wanted their own territory and would stop at anything to do so. They have been overpowered in their attempts by other packs and driven out of towns. However, Braydon and his pack went out on a recruiting mission, turning many young homeless and drug addicted people into lycans; whether they wanted to or not. They pack has grown in numbers and now they stand to rival anyone. Lucas' pack has been on the prowl when word got out about Braydon and his thugs. They knew of the turning of many homeless people and this didn't sit well with Luke or his alpha Martin Sears. "You are a testy thing aren't ya Luke?" Braydon continued, "I was just strolling through the woods and wanted to say 'hi', that's all." Braydon said while extending his hand for a hand shake. "The scent of Braydon was strong and it played with Lucas' senses. He wanted nothing more to beat the rival into submission and drive him out. Other thoughts of ripping Braydon's throat also ran through his mind, but he had strict orders form Martin to not start anything. Luke noticed two other scents and knew Braydon wasn't alone. Luke loved the woods and loved spending time alone in them, but this time he wished some of his pack mates would of tagged along. "I'm not going to repeat myself again Bray, get the hell out or..." Luke was cut short when two males sprang up from behind and pounced on Lucas. They were in their full lycan form and both stood at least 8 ft. tall and dark brown in color. Luke was knocked to the forest floor by one lycan. Braydon laughed at what happened, triggering Lucas to change into his lycan form. Luke also stood 8 ft. His coat was black as coal and with piercing blue eyes. The combination of the dark fur and eyes made him a standout from other lycans. He was handsome in both human and lycan form. Taking his stance, he lunged forward, knocking one of the lycans down. Throwing well connected strikes to his opponent, Luke was pushed off of him by the other. Gathering onto his feet, Luke leaped forward and met his other opponent head on. Loud growls thundered throughout the forest. Dazed after the blow, Luke staggered to his feet. He was apprehended by the 2 lycans and was pinned to the ground. "Ha! You think you are strong enough lil cub, but you are mistaken." said Braydon arrogantly. "You and your clan will soon be finished here and my clan will rule this territory!" Braydon's left hand and arm morphed into that of a lycan. Claws growing longer with sharp tips. Luke knew what was going to happen. He struggled to free himself from the lycan's but both of their strength combined was too much. "Mark my words lil cub, this will soon be my territory and you are trespassing!" With a swift strike, Braydon struck the right side of Luca's body. His claws ran deep into the lycan's flesh leaving deep wounds. The searing pain shot all through Lucas' body. He let out a howl that filled the night sky. The hold of the two lycans was loosened and Lucas fell to the floor. Braydon simply laughed at the sight of the lycan on the floor; bleeding profusely. "Maybe next time you'll be nice to me lil cub-come on guys let's go...I'm getting hungry. Braydon finished morphing and the trio ran into the forest. Lucas laid dazed and in pain; blood spilling from his side. He knew changing into his wolf form would help him heal quicker, but the energy to do so will take a lot out of him. Being in wolf form, lycan's can usually heal faster since they are smaller in size. Getting on all four's, Lucas changed into wolf form. It proved to be excruciating for him and made him fall to the floor. He struggled to get up, but the blood loss caused him to get light headed and weak. His main objective now was to get home. "Fucking asshole!" Lucas thought. He needed his pack quickly. He needed their affectionate touches as it helps with the healing. Problem is, his light headedness and throbbing pain was starting to affect him and his sight. He quickly smelled the scent of something. He wasn't too sure what it was. He tried to distinguish it but couldn't at the moment. As Lucas walked more, the scent grew stronger. It was a sweet smell-gardenias. It perked him up a little bit but not enough to get him to concentrate on where he was going. Lucas saw some light in the distance and knew he was nearing the edge of the woods. A neighboring ranch ran along side the forest line. If he could get to the line he will be able to gauge where he needed to go. On ward he pushed, pain throbbing at his side. It was getting to be too intense. If only he can get back to his pack and be properly healed; he would be ready to seek out Braydon and kill him. "Almost there, just keep going Luke!" thought Luke. He could see the light getting closer as he staggered along. He pushed to the end of the forest line. Looking to his right he more or less knew where he was at. The sweet scent this time hit him like a ton of bricks. Turning his head to the direction of where it was coming from, he saw who it belonged too. A sharp pain hit him again on his side. He took another look at the person in the distance. He could see it was a young man; probably 18 or maybe 19 year old. He could sense fear in the human and didn't want to freak him out in anyways. The young man was in the direction where Lucas needed to go. The loss of blood really started to take effect in the wolf. He began getting more dizzy than before and made him stagger from side to side. Before he knew it, his legs gave way and he fell onto his side. He saw the young man slowly head in his direction, he sensed his trepidation. As the teen got closer, the scent got even more intense, intoxicating his senses, Lucas soaking in the smell. The teen go within feet from him. The wolf didn't know how to react. A part of him wanted to get up and run, but another part wanted the young man to get closer. Finally he let out a growl to let the human know he was still alive, but it sent another sharp pain throughout his body. "Hey boy, I won't hurt you...just trying to see what's wrong." Taking his coat off, the teen wrapped the wolf in it. Gardenias, the sweet smell of gardenias overpowered the wolf's senses. Feeling the arms of the teen made him feel safe. "If I were to die now, what a way to go...in someone's arms!" ************************************************** "Nat I can't take this shit anymore, all the fighting in the family is getting to me already!" "If it's not one thing it's another. I don't know what else to do anymore." "Cal, you need not to concern yourself with all that crap. Why they choose to put you in the middle is a fucked up thing. You need to move on with your life and let them fight and figure all that stuff out." said Natalie, hugging her best friend. "You have an awesome career that has taken you near the top. No one else got you there, so why are you concerning yourself with all that?" Natalie added. "Because they are my family Natalie! I just can't abandon them like that." "I'm not asking you to abandon them Cal; but to move on with YOUR life; your work." "Do you think they are concerning themselves with you? I don't think so Calen!" exclaimed Natalie. "I know you're right, but shit it's hard to move away from all that. Then to deal with my past 2 relationships and the shit those assholes put me through- it's too much to handle." "I just feel weak and worthless," Calen said trying to hold back tears. Ten years have passed since Lex left Calen. Many things have gone on through the years that wore Calen down. Dreams of pursuing his vet degree were put on hold. It all started when Calen's grandfather had a stroke that left him in a vegetative state. He helped his grandmother out with him as much as he could while going to college full time. Trouble soon followed afterwards when an aunt of his decided to cause major problems within the family. First she caused a rift between Calen's parents and then had the other aunts and uncles feuding over property and money. She wanted what was hers and then some, and didn't care what she did to obtain it. Calen used to adore his aunt Lana. She was another mother of sorts to him. But soon greed plagued her mind and soul and the ugly monster in her came out. Calen's parent's behavior turned for the worse as well. Calen's dad had a daughter a few years before Calen was born. But after abandoning the girl, Calen's dad pretty much forgot about her. This angered his family and when Calen was born, most of them resented him. When Christmas and birthdays came, Calen was often over looked. They never attended his parties nor did they give him any birthday wishes. Calen still loved his family though even if they were ill towards him. Calen's mom as well became different. She resented everyone, including Calen. She belittled him whenever he accomplished something great. Instead of praising him, she would begrudgingly tell him GOOD JOB. "You've got to be kidding me!" Natalie answered back. "How the hell are you going to say that you are worthless and weak Calen?" "You have been there for me ever since Mitchell was killed in that crash." "Or how about being there with me throughout my pregnancy. Taking me to all those doctor appointments and then being there when I went into labor and giving birth to Miggy?" Calen shrugged his shoulders. "You are far from worthless Calen and I thank God every night that you have been there. Because if it wasn't for you who knows where I'd be now!" Calen took in a deep breath. He knew that his problems were bad, but dropped all that when Mitchell, Natalie's fiancé and father to Miguel, was killed in a head on collision on his way home from work. It took all of his emotional strength to gather himself up and be there for her. She took the death of Mitchell really hard and it was due to Calen that she was able to move on and stand on her own two feet, not only as a widow but as a mother. "Natalie, I..." "Let's go to lunch Calen. Stephanie and Raul are suppose to meet up with us. And when we finish we can finish up our work and talk more at home." Natalie said grabbing her purse and car keys. Natalie and Calen were two of the most successful real estate agents in the company. They have sold numerous properties and were the most sought after agents. This job wasn't what Calen ever thought about doing, but was convinced by Nat and her father to try it out. After getting his license to sell real estate, Calen worked hard at his job and moved up to assistant manager of Smith's Realty. This job was his pride and joy and hoped within the next few years he will be able to open his own business. This was the only thing, along with Nat and little Miggy, that made him happy and fulfilled. Both took their seats at their favorite restaurant and waited for Stephanie and her husband Raul to join them. Both Natalie and Calen ate at Calypso's constantly. So much so the waiters knew what their orders were every single time. "So when did the boss say the new owners of the company were going to come in?" asked Natalie. "I think in 4 or 5 days." Calen answered. "How come you didn't accept Lisa's offer to be manager when the new owners come in Calen?" "I don't feel ready for it now Nat. I wouldn't be able to run that company with a clear mind; not now anyways, but she did say that the new owners will move me up when I feel ready for it. So that's one bright spot I guess." Smith's Realty was sold to a bigger company. The owner, Lisa Haven, offered Calen the position of manager of the company. She knew he was capable of running the office and moving it forward in progress. But she was aware of the problems Calen was going through and didn't put any pressure on him. One of the deals that was made when Lisa sold the company was that Calen be moved as manager when he was ready for it. She didn't go into detail with the new owners about his situation, but did tell them he was going through a rough time. The new owner agreed and soon came into ownership. Lisa planned a big meeting to introduce the staff with the new owners in the up coming days and announce her retirement. "Hey guys were you waiting long?" asked Natalie's cousin Stephanie. "Naw, we've been here about 8 minutes and told the waiter to come back." Calen said as he rose to greet Stephanie and her husband Raul. "We would have been here sooner but Stephanie ran out of her favorite lipstick and it was a great emergency we stop by the mall so she can buy more. Then you know how she gets when it comes to the mall!" Raul playfully teased as Stephanie turned to look at him and stick out her tongue. "Well I don't complain when you run out of beer and have to run to the store now do I?" "YES YOU DO!" "That's besides the point!" quipped Stephanie and she leaned over to kiss her hubby. "Geez why don't you two get a room?!" Natalie said. Laughter broke out at the table. The waiter soon came and took their orders. As they waited, they talked about what was going on with the company and in their lives. Both Stephanie and Raul knew the trouble Calen was going through and saw it in his eyes. They tried being there for him as much as they could and didn't push him to open up to them. They knew Natalie was there for him. "I think that's great they are willing to wait for you Cal," said Raul, "who knows what the manager position will lead too!" "Yeah I'm excited about it but at the same time it's a lot to take on at the moment. If I wasn't dealing with my stuff, I'd take it on." Stephanie, Raul and Natalie looked at each other. They hoped somehow, some way, Calen would get back to his old self again. Sitting in a nearby table, a woman sat going over some paper work, sipping tea, and sporadically hearing other people's conversations. Her keen sense of hearing was one of the traits all lycans's possessed. She over hear the next table mention a company being taken over and a position being held for someone. She figured they were talking about the real estate company her alpha, Martin, purchased. She couldn't wait to get started with the new staff. Melania Jarreau-Cortez loved real estate and so did her husband Marko, who was a contractor for a construction company. They hoped they could branch out the new company to other nearby cities. The business of "flipping houses" is at it's pique and knew the new bought company was very successful in selling flipped homes. Melania kept on hearing them and caught something that grabbed her attention. "Stephanie said that a few years ago you had a pet wolf?" "More like ten years ago, but yeah I had one for about a month." Calen sighed. He thought about Lex every single day. Never did a moment go by that Lex didn't pop into his head. He missed his friend and wished he was still here. "How the heck did you get him?" asked Raul. "Well back home, I used to go out back walking in the ranch. One day as I was walking home, I saw something in the distance. I thought it was a dog or coyote but saw it was a wolf when I got closer." Playing with his food, Calen continued. "He was injured badly and I took him home and nursed him. I ended up getting attached to him and felt he was attached to me. But I guess he wanted his freedom." "What was he injured with?" asked Raul becoming more interested in the story than his food. "I guess he go into a fight or something. He had these huge cuts on is right side of his body." A gasp escaped from Melania. Could this be? Could this be the one who saved her brother from death a decade ago? She put her whole attention on the group of 4, hoping to hear something else that would help calm her curiosity. "Wow...what as his name...Rex?" "No it was Lex." Calen responded. Melania froze in her seat. It IS the guy who saved her brother Lucas! Lucas has to wait a few months before he went back to see his love. He had to fully recover then deal with the Braydon problem. When he went back after a few months, he couldn't find Calen anywhere. He searched and searched for Calen, but he was nowhere to be found. He had given up hope. "That's just amazing Calen, but I'm sorry he didn't stick around longer." "Eh it happens I guess and like I said before he prolly wanted his freedom." Calen looked at his empty glass and wanted to get another drink. He asked if anyone else wanted one. Overhearing this, Melania jumped on the chance to meet him. She knew she couldn't wait until the meeting and wanted to tell Lucas the good news of her findings! As Calen walked away from the soda fountain, he bumped into a tall, slender woman. Tan skinned, dark hair, he marveled at the woman. He wondered if she was Native American but didn't want to ask suck a question to some he didn't know. "Oh excuse me, I didn't mean to bump into you!" "That's ok I should pay more attention to where I'm going!" chuckled Calen, as he wiped some of the spilled soda off his arm. "Let me buy you another soda." Melania said. "No that's alright, besides it's free refills here." "Well how about I refill it for you?" Calen gave a slight smile and nodded his head and handed his glass over to the woman. "Thanks!" "You are new here aren't you?" asked Calen. He practically knew almost everyone around town and to see this new person was sort of refreshing. "Yes I am new here. My family bought Smith's Realty and I came a few days early to scope out the town and do some errands." Surprised, Calen slowly extended his hand to greet the new person. "I'm Calen Ortiz and I work at Smith's." "Nice to meet you Calen, I am Melania Jarreau-Cortez. You are the assistant manager right?" "Yes I am." said Calen as Melania gently smiled at him. This made him blush some and he could feel his face getting hot. "Nice to meet you too Melania. My friend Natalie also works at Smith's. She's sitting over there; let me introduce you." Walking towards the table, Melania could smell Calen's unique scent. She remembered Luke saying that the scent was that of gardenias. But since only true mates know each others scent, all she could smell was a sweet smell. The scent played with her senses and it made her smile. Calen IS Luke's chosen and the fact that she found him is going to make Luke extremely happy. "Hey guys this is Melania Jarreau Cortez. Her family is the one who bought Smith's." "Melania this is Stephanie, her husband Raul and this is Natalie who also works with me." Calen said as he pointed each one out. "It's a pleasure to meet everyone." Everyone shook hands with Melania and invited to sit with them. "I wish I could stay but I need to make some final preparations to the house we are staying at and have to do tons of errands. But I look forward to seeing you and Natalie at the meeting in a couple of days." Melania grabbed her things and waved to the group of friends and walked out of the restaurant. "Wow, she's a hottie!" exclaimed Stephanie. "Oh you think so too?" asked Raul teasing his beloved wife. "Yeah she is pretty, kinda exotic looking." Calen added. Calen couldn't help the feeling he had when meeting Melania. There was something about her that Calen couldn't put a finder on. He brushed off the feeling and continued with his food. "Hey did you all know there's a new doctor in town too?" asked Raul. Everyone shook their head "No". *Sorry for the delay, had an editor but things didn't work out. So here is ch.2* Found Ch. 02 "What's his name?" asked Natalie. "William Roman; tall and blond the way you like them Nat!" "REALLY?!" "Well what do we have here...I think I am getting a fever!" Natalie said as she touched her forehead to feel her temperature. "Dang the guy hasn't been in town for long and already you are going to pounce on him....you make me proud!" teased Calen. "Well why wait right?" Everyone at the table laughed and finished their meal. Found Ch. 03 "Luke!" "Luke!" "LUCAS!" Melania quickly rushed home after running into Calen. She had to tell her brother the news. She knew Luke had searched for a few years but gave up. But now, the search is about to end. "WHAT! I'M IN THE STUDY!" Lucas responded hearing Melania's shouting of his name. Luke was unpacking boxes that contained files from the last company he worked with. Putting the files into the desk he went to greet his lycan sister. "There you are!" "What is it Mel? You sound like you saw a ghost or something." Lucas replied. "I have to tell you something, but you have to sit down for this. Because what I am about to tell you is HUGE!" "What is it Mel-you know I don't like surprises!" Luke said sitting down and crossing his arms. "I found him!" "Who?" he asked. "Maybe this will refresh your memory." Melania raised her right hand to her brother to smell. She knew what she had on her hand was precious treasure. Grabbing Melania's hand, Luke took in a hard sniff. The sweet smell of gardenias hit his heart like a ton of bricks. The memories of him being injured and being rescued by his future mate all rushed back. "CALEN!" "Where is he?" "Where did you find him?" "How did you meet him?" "WHERE IS HE MELANIA?!" Luke's inner wolf rose. The beast within wanted to be released to find his lost love. The years of waiting and searching have been long and in vain. And now, after a decade, Lucas' mate is soon to be found. "Calm down my brother. I'll tell you everything." "Calm down! How the hell can I calm down when Calen is out there...I need to find..." Rushing through the study Luke was stopped by Melania. A growl from inside of Luke emerged. He felt threatened by his own sister by keeping him from Calen. He didn't like the years of waiting and wasn't about to wait again! "What's going on?" asked Marko seeing the commotion that was going on in the study. "I found Luke's mate and now he's growling at me." "Look, I'm sorry to growl, but I've waited all these years Melania!" "AND...you can wait just a bit longer with that I'm about to tell you Lucas." All three sat down on the couch waiting for Melania to give the details about Calen and his whereabouts. Luke started shaking his leg not wanting to waste any time. The prolonging of the info was driving him nuts and he wanted to scream. "I went to that little café down main street. While there I noticed 4 people at one table. I over heard one say something about their company being sold and someone not quite ready to be manager. I instantly knew they were talking about us buying Smith's." "Keep on." Luke urged. Rolling her eyes, Melania continued. "Anyways, one of the guys there asked the other one about a pet wolf he had. So I immediately tuned in. that guy responded by saying that yes he had a pet wolf and that it was hurt. He also said he rescued the wolf and took it home. Then said that the wolf ran off a month later." Lucas felt a surge of regret and shame for leaving Calen the way he did. But being gone for a month, Lucas had to go back to his pack. Not only to return but to finish off his healing. Being with the teen sped up his healing process and this in itself was a rare occurrence. He has never heard of any other lycans being able to heal themselves quickly without their pack. He attributed it to Calen being his future mate. After returning to his pack, Martin, sent Lucas out with a few others from the pack to find Braydon. The search for Braydon lasted for four months. Longer than what Lucas expected. When Martin called off the search, Lucas went back to find Calen. The shear excitement of it was only to be turned into sorrow. Upon returning, Calen graduated from high school and went to college. "When the guy asked Calen what the name was; I literally froze in my seat when he said 'Lex'. I had to get up to meet him and somehow try to touch him to get his scent." Tightly shutting his eyes, Lucas couldn't help but smile huge. He is so close now to finding his mate. "I haven't said the best part about it all Lucas...he works for us!" "WHAT?! What do you mean he works for us?" asked Lucas standing up in excitement. Each second that passed buy felt like torture. He wanted to know where Calen is NOW! "Well when I met Calen, he said he worked at Smith's along with a friend of his. He is the assistant manager there." "This is a dream Mel. I mean this isn't happening. You are telling me that you met Calen...MY Calen. The Calen who rescued me. This is my Calen we are talking about right?" Standing up to meet her brother, Melania grabbed his shoulders and gently squeezed them. She saw the happiness in his eyes light up. It has been years since she saw that look. Her own heart lifted with joy. This was a long time coming. "Yes this is YOUR Calen. Have I ever steered you wrong?" "No Melania you haven't, but I've waited long enough. I need to find him." "Lucas I know you have waited this long, but you will need to wait a bit more. I mean if you running up to him now acting like a kid hyped up on chocolate, who was hit by cupid's arrow, he's going to think you are just a tad weird." All three laughed. "Also there's something else. He was going to be the manager of Smith's, but he declined it. From what Lisa said, he was going through something personal but she didn't elaborate. Seeing him in the café, whatever it is, I saw it in his eyes. I could sense the pain and it left a lasting impression on him." Lucas' inner wolf whimpered at the thought of Calen being hurt. It also became on the defensive. Knowing that someone hurt his make sent Luke's inner wolf in protection mode. He hasn't even seen the guy yet and already he wants to grab him and hold him and protect him from every bad thing in the world. If he could just get Calen into his arms, he could make everything better. ************************************************************************ "Ok Miss Velarde, your son seems to be in perfect health and has some good weight on him and is growing fine. Since he is already 1 years old, I would start giving him children's liquid vitamins just to help him out more." suggested Dr. William Roman. New to the town, he was eager to get to work and build up his patient list. Natalie was smitten with the Dr. Raul was right on him being blond and good looking, but she didn't expect him to be down right gorgeous: dark green eyes, dimples, baby faced, tall with a muscular build. It was all Natalie could do to keep from staring. "Thank you Dr. Roman." "Here's a lollipop for Miggy. Now remember in three months you will have to bring him back for his second set of shots." exclaimed the doctor to Natalie. Admiring her beauty. William was taken aback by her. Natalie was of average height and slender. She has light colored skin, dark brown eyes, and dark brown hair that went past her shoulders. She was the epitome of beauty. Natalie did some catalog modeling in high school, but quit to concentrate on school. "So how do you like being the new kid in town?" Natalie asked. "So far its been good. I was a little worried about being the new doctor in town after Dr. Riley retired. I wasn't sure how people would have reacted. But so far it's been good." "That's good to hear! Dr. Riley has been here forever it seems. He was my doctor when I was a baby and has done Miguel's check ups when he was born." Giving Miguel one more look over, William wrote in his paper work and caught Natalie looking at him. He gently smiled at her causing Natalie to quickly look away. His inner wolf was awaken. "So have you check out any of the town?" Natalie asked, hoping the answer would be NO. "No I haven't had any time to look around. Been meaning too though." BINGO! "I was suppose to be here a few days sooner, but something came up and well I had to deal with that. But I will check out the town today actually. I want to check out that little Italian restaurant that's in town. Heard the food is amazing." "Oh it is. My best friend and I eat there almost daily. They know us so well that we don't even have to look at the menus." Natalie said hoping something more came out of this. "Hmm, well I guess I will have to take your word on it. Would you like to have dinner with me tonight? I know its sudden and we don't know each other that well, but I hope you'll say yes." "I'd love to." Natalie answered with a smile on her face. "Wonderful! You can bring little Miggy with us." "My best friend Calen can watch over him. He's like Miggy's dad. Ever since Mitchell was killed over 2 years ago, Calen has been there for me and him." William heard the name Calen before but couldn't place it. He felt a little bit uneasy not knowing if Calen was a love interest to Natalie. But the more they talked the more his memory on Calen began to get clearer. He remembered the situation with Lucas and his rescuer and couldn't wait to tell Lucas about it. William, being a werewolf, was part of Lucas' pack. His inner wolf rose when he first saw Natalie. Her sweet scent leaving William in a daze. William snapped out of it to tend to the toddler. "Yes, Dr. Riley told me about your fiancé and you have my condolences." "Thank you. It was hard in the beginning, but if it wasn't for Calen, I would have been a total wreck right now." sighed Natalie. "Calen is important to you?" William asked. "Yes he is. He is like a brother to me. Well more than a brother. We have been through a lot together and our bond is stronger than anything." This proclamation made William's inner wolf happy. He knew now that Natalie is open for the taking, and that Calen didn't pose a threat. He knew now that he had to make good with Calen, after all they will ALL be pack mates one day. "Hopefully I will get to meet him soon." William said as he smiled at Natalie. "You will. We are attached at the hip it seems." Heat began to fill Natalie's cheeks. She wanted to leave the office quickly to call Calen about her date. Emotions ran through Natalie. She never looked at another mad since Mitchell died and she had closed that possibility for good. However, meeting William brought up new feelings in her that she has longed for. After exchanging phone numbers, William escorted mother and baby out of his office. He was anxious for tonight but also anxious to tell Luke about Calen. Reaching for his cell phone, he called Lucas. "Luke?" "Hey William how's it going?" "Going good. I just finished with a patient...guess what?" "What?" "I have a date tonight!" "Awesome! With who?" "The mother of the patient I just saw." "Nice- what's her name?" "Come on Luke, you know that's strict medical information I can't give out!" teased the blond lycan. "Then why the hell tell me?!" "Just to aggravate you of course!" William said trying to hold off a laugh, as he continued, "Her name is Natalie Velarde. She brought her son in for his yearly check up. We got to talking and I asked her out." "Is she single or divorced since she has a kid?" asked Luke. "No, her fiancé died in a car crash a couple years ago." "Dang," Luke said with a heavy sigh. "But there's more Luke!" "What? She can't be pregnant with your kid already?" joked Lucas. "NO! But it does deal with you though. She talked about her best friend Calen!" "WHAT?!" "She talked about her best friend Calen. When I heard the name I thought it sounded familiar. At first I thought maybe he was her boyfriend or something. Then it hit me where I heard the name and remembered the whole situation with you and him." "I can't believe this; Melania and now you!" "Melania met him already?" asked William. "Yes. She was at some café and over heard a group of people talking. She heard about the company they worked for being sold. Then she heard one of them ask about a wolf that was rescued. Then it left after some time." "Wow!" exclaimed William. "Then she heard the name 'Lex'. That is what Calen called me when he rescued me." "Whoa that is incredible!" William said as he sat at his deck, staring at the piece of paper with Natalie's phone number on it. "She went up and met him. She then shook his hand and came here. She gave me her hand and I took a whiff and smelled Calen's scent. It was as if I got hit in the stomach with a baseball bat." "So why haven't you gone to see him yet?" "Because Melania thinks that since I haven't him all this time, she thinks I would pounce on him or something." "Sounds like you!" joked William. "There's more to it too- he works for us!" "Oh hell you're joking?" "Nope! He is the assistant manager at Smith's Realty. " "Well shit Lucas, he's right there for the taking." "Well I would if I could, but Melania overheard them saying something about Calen turning down the job as manager. She said that when she talked to Lisa, he was going through some stuff and didn't feel he was quite ready to fill that position yet. She said that when she saw him, she saw it in his face." Luke's inner wolf began to pace inside. Not knowing where his mate is, was driving him crazy. He wanted to go out and track him himself, but took Melania's suggestion to wait until the meeting. "Wow Luke! I'm sorry to hear that about Calen. But I think Melania is right. I mean knowing you, you'd run up to him like a kid hyped up on chocolate who got hit by cupid's arrow and..." "NOT THAT AGAIN!" "What?" asked William. "Nothing Will." "Well I just wanted to call you to tell you that and to tell Martin I won't be home for dinner." "You didn't call him yourself?" asked Luke. "I did, but I guess he was still conversing with Travis on the whole Braydon thing, to answer the phone." "Oh yeah. Apparently Braydon and his guys turned a few others and killed one person. Martin, Travis, and a few other alphas are mapping out the area and keeping guard on the borders." Luke explained. "I'll have my cell with me and if its an emergency I will get back here as quickly as I can. I need to get off of here cause I have another patient coming in 10 minutes." "Good luck on your date and if you happen to have leftover's..." "I'll bring you a doggy bag!" Both lycans's laughed and said their good bye's. Now another person knows about Calen and that was too much for Luke to take. His inner wolf paced impatiently inside making him feel uncomfortable. Luke shut his eyes and breathed in deeply. Melania and William were both right. Luke WOULD be like a kid hyped up on chocolate and he didn't want to risk freaking out Calen in any ways. He had to compose himself for that sake. Knowing that Calen was dealing with something also played a part. Luke desperately wanted to know what was going on with Calen. He wanted to know what he was doing now. Was he at work? Is he checking his email? Is he talking with a new client? Luke himself had paper work to do, but it took a back seat to his thoughts and memories. He slowly leaned back on his chair and closed his eyes again. Remembering the first time he saw Calen. A fresh faced teen of 18 years. He remembered how gentle Calen was to him and his wounds; his caring nature for a wild beast. Luke felt his heart beating fast and a smile began to spread on his face. He knew it will take some time to claim Calen, but he was willing to wait for him. Snapping out of his daze, Martin, the alpha to Luke's pack, came into the office. He, along with Travis Levy and his mate Eugene Parker, came into the office after the hour long meeting they had. Standing up, Luke greeted his alpha. "Hi Lucas." Martin said as he embraced Lucas. "Hello Martin." Luke said as he reciprocated, embracing Martin tightly. His scent mingled in Luke's nose. The scent was a security blanket of sorts to him. Martin is his protector; the pack's protector. He hoped one day that if he ever became pack alpha, he would be just as good as Martin. "Lucas, I'd like you to meet Travis Levy." "Nice to meet you Mr. Levy." said Luke extending his hand for a hand shake. "Nice to meet you too, but call me Travis." "This here is my mate Eugene Parker." "Nice to meet you Lucas." Eugene said as he shook Luke's hand. "Likewise." Luke responded. "So what's the situation?" asked Luke. "As of right now, we both decided to have men out and scope the borders every few hours. That way if we find any traces of Braydon or his thugs, we will be ready for them." explained Martin. "Martin tells me that you have dealt with Braydon before?" Travis asked. "Yes I have and it didn't go too well." "What happened if I may ask?" "Well, I had went out to clear my head. And the other place the pack used to live in, there is a huge wooded area that I normally go out to run or walk. Usually my sister Melania and her human mate would come with me. But at the time I wanted to be on my own. Anyways, I came across Braydon, and his two thugs jumped me from behind. I held them off as much as I could but they got me. They held me down and Braydon then dug his claws into me and left me for dead." "FUCKER!" Martin growled. "Wow! How did you get back?" asked Eugene. "Well I had some help from someone and then..." Lucas hesitated for a moment. He wasn't sure if he wanted to go down memory lane again. "Someone helped him and took care of him for awhile before he came back to us to completely heal." finished Martin. "Then I had him lead a pack to find those losers, but they had moved on." Lucas sighed. Martin proceeded to discuss with Travis more plans for the border watch. Eugene noticed Luke's somber attitude and went up to talk to him. "So what's his name-assuming it's a 'him'?" Eugene asked. "What....oh...his name is Calen Ortiz. He is the one who rescued me. He took me in and helped me heal." answered Lucas. "What clan is he part of?" "No clan; he's human." "Oh, a human rescuer; sounds romantic." "It was until I had to leave him. I was with him for a month and knew Martin and the rest of the pack was probably worried on where I was. I was going to come back after I went back and healed. But then Martin had me be leader of the search party to find Braydon and that took longer than what I expected. I finally went back for Calen and he was gone." "So I take it Calen is ok with your other form?" asked Eugene. "Well...he...uh..." Lucas stammered out. "He doesn't know." Eugene answered. "No he doesn't." answered Luke with his head down. "So how long have you been seeing him Calen?" "Well that's the thing. When I went back for him, he had moved away for college. I tried for years to find him when I could. But it was as if he never came back. I figured he would come home for the holidays, but there was no trace of him anywhere. I did however see his friend a lot, but didn't make myself known to her." "How come?" "Well when I was with Calen when he rescued me, both of them would always be together. They were real close to each other. So if I would of went up to her and asked about Calen, she would of wondered who I was and why I wanted to talk to him. Calen only knows me in my wolf form." "I see. That's complicated Lucas." "Yeah and it's been 10 years since. The company Martin just bought, well come to find out that Calen is the assistant manager!" "So he works for you?" "More like I work for him since I am the project manager." "Wow!" Eugene said shaking his head in disbelief. "Yeah I know. We are going to have a meeting with the staff and the previous owner. We are just going to introduce ourselves and where we want to see the company go to." "So you haven't seen him since you figured out you are going to be working with him?" Eugene puzzling asked. "Well I want too badly, but after not seeing him in 10 years, I'm afraid I might do something to freak him the hell out! Plus from what my sister tells me, Calen is having some kind of problems and if I try to meet him now and get all giddy and stuff, I might screw up any kind of relations with him." Found Ch. 03 "I see your point Lucas. Well I'm sure you have been told to take it easy with him. Why not become friends with him first? That way you can gain some of his trust and then move on from there." Lucas gave a sigh and nodded his head in agreement. "Ask him to show you around town. Since you are new here, I'm sure he would be happy to. Also ask to work with him personally so you can learn the ropes of how they run things there. Do it enough times where you can gain his acceptance, but not so much that he thinks you aren't capable of doing your job." "You may be on to something Eugene." Martin and Travis entered the office once again. With the final preparations set for the stake out, they all said their good bye's. Martin saw the puzzled look on Luke's face and wanted to know what was troubling him. "What's wrong Lucas? You haven't been focused all that much the last couple of days." "It's nothing really Martin." But it was something. He figured he should tell Martin about Calen now, but didn't want to burden the alpha with his situation. "You can tell me Luke. I know with the Braydon mess and buying the new company, I haven't been there much to interact with you all. But I really do want to help out in any way I can." Martin said as he put his arm around Lucas. "Well..." Luke said apprehensively. He walked towards the window of the office. He was nervous and tense. Martin sensed the tension and just waited for Luke to speak. "I've found...I've found my mate." "Really! That is great news Lucas!" "Yes I know it is, but he is human and doesn't know I exist." "Ok you just lost me there; he doesn't know you exist?" Turning to face the alpha, Luke walked towards him and gave Martin a slight smile which quickly faded. "It's the guy who saved me all those years ago. He's the one who took me in and healed me. I fell in love with him the moment he carried me in his arms." It was then that Martin knew why Luke was apprehensive. Martin knew that after Luke arrived back home, he sent him out to search for Braydon. He didn't know that Luke had any feelings for his rescuer, other than gratitude for taking him in. Guilt ran through his heart, keeping a pack mate from their true love is something alphas NEVER do. "Lucas...I didn't know you had feelings for him. If I would have known, I wouldn't have sent you out for that long. How come you didn't say anything at the time?" Looking at the alpha, Luke gave his reply. "Well I was young and didn't understand those feelings yet. Then when I smelled his scent; it hit me bad. I couldn't understand what was going inside of me. I thought maybe it was due to the blood loss and me being incoherent. I came back so I could really get healed and because I knew you and the pack would have been worried about me." Grabbing the young lycan, Martin hugged him. For the first time in a long time, he felt guilt, but on the flip side he was happy Luke found his mate. "I'm so sorry for doing that to you Lucas. Believe me if I would of known I would of taken you back to his house myself." exclaimed Martin. "I know you would have Martin." Letting each other go, both lycans walked towards the couch and sat. The few seconds of silence that passed seemed long. "Were you ever angry at me for sending you out Lucas?" "At first I was mad at you. But being so young then I didn't know how to express myself. You know how I was; shy, timid. When we were finished with the search, I went back to look for him but he was gone. I was even angrier and blamed you for keeping me from him. But really, I was pissed at myself. I didn't speak up and I let him go away. I guess I blamed you to lessen the sting in my heart. But I don't blame you at all anymore." Giving a light smile, Martine placed his hand on Luke's shoulder as if to say THANKS. "So tell me about him Luke, I mean I have to know everything about a soon-to-be pack make." Martin said happily. "Well his name is Calen Ortiz. He is 28 years old with dark brown hair, deep, dark brown eyes, light skin." Imagining his mate, Luke almost went into a daze again. He knew he has to meet his Calen soon. "So how did you come to find him again?" asked Martin. "Well I didn't. Melania is the one who found him. She was at some restaurant and met him. She came home and told me all that went on there. She introduced herself to." Martin nodded his head. "There's something else too...he works for us at Smith's as the assistant manager." "Oh wow! So that's why the name sounded familiar. I talked to him maybe 2 weeks ago about the meeting. He has a real nice voice if I do say so myself." "What else can you tell me Martin?" "Well our conversation was brief. He introduced himself to me and then I asked him how long he has worked there. We talked about the housing market and then set the date for the meeting. He's a very nice, smart young man Lucas; very personable." "Melania, William, and now you..." "Oh yeah I had a few missed calls from him. What does wants?" "He wanted to call you to tell you he wasn't going to be home for dinner. He is going out with a patient's mom. Want to know who it is?" asked Lucas. "Who?" "It's Calen's best friend! Why does it feel as if the whole world has met Calen but me?" Giving a giggle, Martin patted Luke on the back. "Well what do you expect? You're in love so of course it's going to seem like everything is against you. It's just going to make that moment that much sweeter when you do meet him." exclaimed Martin. "Yeah I guess you are right. But if the next person that comes in and says they met Calen before me I will..." "You'll wait like you have been doing." interrupted Martin. "BITE ME OLD MAN!" "Oh you know I will Lucas!" Martin said teasingly. Lucas pounced on his alpha. Both flipped over off the couch turning it over. Lucas playfully grabbed at Martin's side jabbing his side with his finger to make him laugh. Martin wiggled Lucas and laughed, begging for it to stop. He turned himself and took down Lucas. He was sitting up over on him and grabbed both of Lucas' hands and pinned him down. "You better not do what I think you are gonna do!" Lucas said in horror as he watched Martin take a finger and put it in his mouth. "Martin I know where you sleep and I will..." "Martin!" "Martin!" "MARTIN!!!" Martin stuck his wet finger into Luke's eat. The sensation of the wet finger was too damn gross. Martin laughed as Luke wiggled and thrashed about trying to set himself free. Luke as incredible strength, but it didn't match that to Martin's. "You dirty bastard...that was so fuckin nasty...ewww!" Martin rolled off Luke laughing hysterically. Lucas grabbed his shirt and tried to clean out his ear from Martin's slimy spit. "I swear one day old man!" "Come one lets fix the couch. I don't want to hear Melania complaining about us destroying the room." Martin said as he got up from the floor still laughing. Both lycans fixed the couch and picked up the few papers that fell on the floor. Luke was still fidgeting with his ear. He could still feel the spit in his ear. Martin briefly chuckled and went on with the cleaning. "So what are you going to do about Calen? When do you plan to meet him?" "Not till the day of the meeting. Melania thinks it would be better to wait then so I won't make an ass out of myself in front of him and the rest of the staff. She thinks I'd probably just jump on him or something." "Young love. I remember how that goes." Martin knew that feeling very well. He tool fell in love with a human; head over heels in love. Tim Stone was his mate and part business owner in a catering business Martin used to own. Tim was a highly acclaimed chef that Martin met through mutual friends. The chemistry was instant and both hit it off well. Their first date together was a typical first day; dinner and movie. Most of the date was spent talking about each others lives. Their relationship blossomed into a beautiful unity. Tim was fazed about Martin's lycan side at first, but he loved him so much he accepted it. However, fate wasn't as accepting. While heading to a function to cater, Tim drove the company van through a massive rain storm. He was running behind due to the three dozen chicken breasts being sent late from the butcher. Rushing through the rain, a deer ran onto the street. Tim swerved to miss the animal and lost control of the van. The van ran off the road and ran into a tree head on, killing Tim instantly. Nine years have passed since then and to Martin it felt like only yesterday that it happened. Being the alpha, Martin had to move on quickly. Alphas are allowed little time to mourn the loss of a loved one. The nights were cold and lonely for the lycan. After the loss, Melania, Luke, William, and a few others slept in the same room with Martin. The closeness of one's pack also aids in the grieving process. Even with the pack there close by, it wasn't enough to fill the void. "Thinking about Tim again?" asked Luke, noticing Martin's gaze into the floor. "Yeah I was, but let's not talk about him right now." "So how are you going to approach Calen?" "I don't know. We are going to be in that meeting for who knows how long. I guess afterwards." "That's what you should do. Just introduce yourself to him again and talk to him. I know he's your mate but take your time to get to know him and for him to get to know you." "It's easier said than done Martin." "What do you mean?" asked Martin. "Well Calen has some of issues going on in his life. Melania said she saw it in his face when she first saw him. Even William said that Natalie said that both Calen and her had gone through a lot of stuff together. So it's not going to be easy to get him to open up." "Well that's why you have to take it slow. You can't expect him to be your mate right off the bat. If he is going through something, you have to wait o him. He is in your now, as a co-worker, nothing more nothing less. Be his friend but don't hover. Gain his trust and let him come to you." "You're right, and I know not to rush it, but damn it's hard not too. I mean after 10 years, I just want to bear hug him and stay like that forever!" A soft giggle left from Martin's mouth. He could see that Luke was totally in love and he was doing everything he can to restrain himself. That is not an easy job. A wolf is a wild animal that does what it wants when it wants. When a person is blessed with lycanthropy, he or she can only withhold their inner wolf for so long and he could see on Luke's face it was starting to get to him. Be he knew that Lucas is a strong man and stronger lycan. "Luke I think we need to start with our paper work for the meeting. I want to be prepared and ready for the day." Nodding his head in agreement, Luke stood up and finished with his paperwork. Both lycans paused for a brief second and smiled at each other. Soon the destiny of one will forever be changed. Found Ch. 04 "I'm on my way to see some of my clients. They are closing a deal with a company they just bought and want me to be there to over see it." said Grant Avery talking on his cell phone. "Mmmmhmmm. It's Martin Sears. He is like family to me and well I have been his lawyer ever since I passed the bar. So I told him I'd help out with that." Grant was more than a friend to Martin, he was part of Martin's pack. Grant too is a lycan. Martin helped Grant get into law after high school. Being a young lycan and not too sure of his future, Grant took Martin's advice and got accepted into one of the country's prestigious law school. Martin had encouraged Grant, along with Luke, to pursue their goals. He stood by as these cubs, which were like sons to him, grow and mature into the handsome, smart, successful men that they are now. Grant was a little bit older than Luke and was a big brother figure to him. He helped Luke deal with his coming out, as he himself is gay. After finishing law school, Grant got offered a job in the city. He loved the aspect of being on his own an having a high paying job. He excelled at his law firm, being the youngest lawyer to win every case in one year. His bond to his pack was always strong and he loved every single one of them dearly, but at the same time he wanted to find himself. He didn't want to move with the pack after they bought land in the nearby town. Martin let him stay in the town house by himself. The town house also stood as the primary sanctuary for the pack. It was a big house with many rooms to spare when other lycans packs came into town. But Grant wanted his own apartment. He was definitely independent and self assured. It was only now that he came down, not only to close the business deal, but to catch up with the pack. Driving with the windows rolled down, Grant was still on the phone talking to his colleague. He wanted to get through the meeting fast and head back home. He was intrigued with the town but he wanted to be back in the city. "Remind me Keith to have those papers drawn up for the McAlester family when I get back into the office. That is going to be one messy..." Grant was stopped mid-sentence when something grabbed at his senses. A slight, yet sweet smell danced in Grant's nose. He didn't know where it was coming from. -Grant? -You there Grant...hello? "Sorry Keith, I...uh....uh...what was I saying?" -You were saying how the McAlester case was going to be a messy one. "Oh yeah...right." "Keith let me get back to you shortly ok?" Grant said as he hung up his cell phone. Catching the scent even harder, Grant stopped in front of a little café. He closed his eyes and took in another breath, trying to distinguish the smell and where it was coming from. Looking to his right he saw a young man walking along the sidewalk. He stood to be 5'10 and had dark hair and eyes with light complected skin. His inner wolf recognized the scent coming from this young man. A deep breath escaped from the lycan and he immediately turned his car off. Walking towards the young man, Grant's heart began to race. He has never been in love before, but now love was filling his body. He had to meet this man. "Excuse me sir, I was wondering if you happen to know where Smith's Realty is?" "It's down by Oaklawn Street. I work there." "I'm Grant Avery." Grant said as he extended his hand. "Calen Ortiz." "Nice to meet you Mr. Ortiz." "Likewise, but you can call me Calen. I am the assistant manager at Smith's. Can I help you with anything Mr. Avery?" "I'm here to help close the deal with my client Martin Sears. I have never been here before and I'm a little lost. By the way, you can call me Grant." Eying the young man, Grant couldn't help but stare at him. He was drawn to him like a magnet. His dark brown eyes had a look to them, as if they could see deep down into Grant's soul. It was almost an odd feeling. Seeing the lips on the young man, Grant wondered what they would taste like. He felt a surge in his crotch. He had to snap out of it now. "Well Grant, I'm heading to the office after I run these errands. Like I said, go to Oaklawn Street and you will see it." Calen was intrigued with Grant. He was very handsome and tall with rugged features. He estimated Grant to be in his mid to late 30s with very light graying hair among a sea of dark brown hair. His skin was tan but not too much. His goatee and beard matched that to his hair. He was handsome to say the least and Calen was a bit smitten by him. "Actually I won't be in just yet. I have to call a colleague back. But I will see you after awhile Calen." Grant flashed a smile at Calen. Calen smiled back and quickly went on with his business. Grant took in another deep breath to savor the smell of Calen. He felt another surge in his cock making him go weak at the knees. No one has ever made Grant feel this way. A new town and now a new mate; what more can a lycan ask for? Grabbing for his cell phone, Grant called Keith back. "Sorry about that Keith. I had to get off the phone because I saw my client and had to speak of him real quick, but yes remind me to have the papers drawn up for the McAlester family. Also I will need you to fax me the other legal documents that I need. After the meeting I will call you and give you the fax number to my clients office so you can send it to me there." Grant knew the he lied to Keith, but he didn't want to up and say he found the love of his life walking down the sidewalk. No one in Grant's law firm knew about his secret condition. Grant was close to his colleagues, but kept a distance from them when it came to his personal life. They knew he was gay but it was never an issue to them. "Ok that sounds good Keith and will talk to you later on...bye." Hanging up his cell phone, Grant headed straight to the little café down the corner. The aroma of Calen still lingered and played with him. Sitting at a table, the waitress came by taking his order. Grant sat still and replayed the moment of meeting Calen. He knew instantly Calen was gay due to his inner wolf recognizing him as a mate. A lycan's inner wolf is never wrong when it comes to recognizing a mate. A smile slowly appeared on Grant's face just as the waitress came by with his order. He slowly started to eat and planned his next move. ************************************************************************ "I'd like to thank everyone for being here. This is truly exciting and sad moment for me. I have ran this business since it's inception 25 years ago and have been blessed with many wonderful agents; past and present, who have made this company what it is today. It is now that I feel a new chapter in my life has to begin. As many as you know, my daughter gave birth to her first child and I want to dedicate my time solely on her and the baby. So with that said, I've decided to retire and sell the company to an individual who I know will take it to a new level." said Lisa Haven standing in front of her employees and the new staff. It was a long and hard process getting the company to where it is now and felt it was time to move on and concentrate on family. She was impressed with Martin's business savvy ventures and knew he was the one to own Smith's Realty. Luke, Melania, Marco, and Martin sat on the opposite side of Smith's staff. Luke was fidgeting in his seat eager to see Calen. He wasn't there and wasn't sure if he was going to make the meeting. The last few days felt like a lifetime. Luke impatiently waited for the day of the meeting to arrive and now here he is, sitting with Martin, Melania and Marco with no Calen in sight. Melania noticed his worrisome look and grabbed his hand to help calm him down. Luke responded with a smile as the meeting went on. He thought fate was playing a cruel trick on him. He remembered what Martin said about being in love and how everything is against you, but how sweet it will be when they both finally meet. That was the only thing that helped him keep his sanity. "I'd like to introduce everyone to Mr. Martin Swears. Not only is he the new owner but will temporarily co-manage the company with Melania Cortez." Both Martin and Melania stood up and acknowledge everyone at the table. "I would also like to introduce Lucas Jarreau who will be the new Projects Manager along with Marco Cortez." both stood up and greeted everyone at the table. Just then Calen walked into the staff room. Everyone there looked his way as he walked towards his seat by Lisa. Luke froze in his seat as the scent of gardenias filled him. There was Calen, his Calen, in the same room as him. Melania looked over at Luke and noticed his expression. She put her hand on his leg to help him snap out of his staring mode. Now sporting a mustache and goatee, Luke can still see traces of the young rescuer on him. His heart pounded rapidly in his chest. His inner wolf pacing, wanting to jump out and claim Calen right then and there. Luke took in a deep breath and put his attention back onto the meeting. "Glad you could make it Calen." "Sorry, there was a long line at the post office and it took a while," Calen said as he put his briefcase down and took his seat right across from Lucas. "Melania told me she met you and Natalie a few days ago." Lisa said as she welcomed Calen. "Yes we met her at the café and introduced ourselves to her." Calen softly nodded at Melania who responded with a smile. "She told me you were very welcoming to her." Lisa replied back. "And this is Martin Sears. You talked to him a couple weeks ago." "Nice to meet you Mr. Sears." "Likewise Mr. Ortiz" Both men smiled and nodded at each other. "And have you met the other two Calen?" asked Lisa pointing out Marco and Luke. "No I haven't met them yet." Standing up, Calen reached over and introduced himself to Marco. Luke felt the nervousness build up inside of his stomach. These weren't butterflies; more like eagles flying inside. Luke rose. "Calen Ortiz." "Lucas Jarreau," responded Luke as she shook Calen's hand. Luke swallowed hard as Calen's scent filled him up once again. He now has Calen's scent on his hand. Luke's mind spun around, not knowing what to say next. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Jarreau." "It's nice to meet you too Mr. Ortiz." Luke responded slowly shaking Calen's hand. Calen gazed into Luke's pale blue eyes. There was an essence of familiarity about them that he couldn't place. "You can call me Calen." "And you can call me Lucas or Luke." "Both men nodded and sat as the meeting continued. "Ok everyone has met. So with that being said, I would like to say a huge thank you to my staff once again. You all have worked so hard for me over the years and I am truly grateful; especially to you Calen. I have seen you grow from an intern, to secretary, agent and now assistant manager. I am so proud of you and what you have accomplished." Lisa said all this trying to hold back tears. Calen blushed with the compliment that Lisa gave him. It had been a long time since someone gave him kudos for doing a good job. Luke saw the redness on Calen's cheeks and wanted to feel their warmth. Calen walked over towards Lisa and gave her a big hug and thanked her. The group of people at the meeting all applauded and the meeting was over. After the meeting was done, Calen walked to his office to start his day. The staff was conversing amongst each other and Lisa approached Luke and talked about some of the properties as they walked to her office. "We have two properties in escrow right now; a residential home at the end of town and a lake house. The residential home is pretty much in good shape. We do plan to add a porch to it. The lake house however, really needs some work. I have the blue prints for it in my office and will give them to you before I go. You might want Calen to approve them first." Walking in the hallway, Luke could smell Calen. It was so intoxicating, so addicting. He needed to see his mate again. Lisa handed over the plans and told Luke where Calen's office was. Walking over to his door, Luke closed his eyes and deeply inhaled his mate's scent once again. So addicting. "Come in." Luke slowly opened the door and poked his head in to see Calen was busy. Calen was at his desk typing on his computer. He looked up to see Luke. "Oh hey Lucas, how can I help you?" "Lisa gave me the blue prints and the financial papers and said to get your approval for them." Luke walked towards Calen's desk. Calen stood up and walked over towards Luke. "I hope you aren't too busy. I just wanted to get a move on with the projects Lisa told me about, but wasn't sure with the meeting and all." Luke handed the paper work to Calen. He could again see the young teen in his man; same facial features but with more facial hair and glasses. Calen was handsome in the lycan's eyes. Calen took the documents and sat at his desk. He gave a quick glance over them and signed them. "And here are the blue prints for the lake house." "I was talking to Lisa about the floor plans for the patio. I think they bay window she wanted to put up is too much of an eye sore. What do you think Lucas?" Calen said looking at the plans. Grabbing the plans and turning them to him, Luke took a glance. "I think we need to re-do the whole outside wall. Instead of having the bay window, we can put double glass framed doors, and have them centered to match the deck." Turning the plans around, Calen studied them to see if the double doors would work with the patio. "Hmmm...I think you are right Lucas. That way the people can see the lake and the deck from inside the kitchen. Not to mention it will add value to the house." Pleased with the agreement from Calen, Luke smiled, his heart pounding. Soon; very soon! Glancing up, Calen's eyes met up with Luke. The pale blue eyes were too familiar to him, but he didn't know from where. "Have we ever met before Lucas? You seem oddly familiar..." Realizing he used the "oddly", Calen tried to retraced what he said. "I don't mean that you're odd, it's just that...um...you seem familiar to me but I can't place it." Calen fumbled with his words. Luke could see Calen's cheeks turning red again. This was too adorable to the lycan. He wanted to crank out a smile and touch his face, but again he had to restrain himself and his inner wolf. But he knew he couldn't tell Calen the truth yet. "No I don't think we have met before, but maybe we have crossed paths at one point." Luke responded smiling. "Probably...," added Calen as he tried to hid his red cheeks. He found Luke to be very handsome. His build, his faded hair cut, neatly trimmed beard, mustache and goatee, his pale blue eyes and his smile. He couldn't help but wonder if Luke was gay or straight. "Have you lived in Grand Creek long?" asked Luke. "I've been here for 6 years now; moved out here from Granger after I graduated from college. But I'm originally from Terin." "I've been to Terin, but it's been a few years though." Luke didn't want to give too much away. "Really...maybe it was back then that we crossed paths." said Calen. Oh if you only knew! "I guess it could of happened." Luke replied. A moment of silence went by. Both didn't know what else to say. Calen started at his hands while Luke eyed him. Luke would look away the moment Calen made eye contact. He didn't want to stare down his mate, but at the same time he couldn't believe he was sitting in front of him. All of the years that have passed are now a distant memory. "Have you been in real estate long Calen?" "Been in it for 6 years now. And you?" "Going on twelve years or so. I started right out of high school. I got my license and started working with Martin with the other agency he owns." "How long did you work there?" asked Calen "Twelve years." answered Luke. "Oh gosh, DUH CALEN!!!" Calen said as his cheeks began to turn red...again! Luke smiled at Calen's reaction. He knew he was making Calen nervous and in a way, he liked it. This made him feel that maybe Calen is taking and interest in him. But he didn't want to push his luck with him. Luke caught another scent. A knock at the door. "Come in." "Hi Calen, I hope its ok to come in, we met earlier today..." "Oh yes Grant, how are you? Let me introduce you to..." "LUKE!" "OH MY GOD GRANT!" Both men walked towards each other and hugged. "You two know each other?" asked Calen. "Yeah we both grew up together." answered Luke. "Well I'm a bit older than Luke, but yes we did grow up together. I had moved away to the city a few years ago and haven't seen this guy for awhile." After pulling away from their embrace, Calen invited Grant to sit down. He knew that Martin's lawyer wanted him to over look the contracts of the hand over and sign them as well. Both Lycans sat at Calen's desk. Unbeknownst to each other, both started to stare Calen down while he read the contracts. It wasn't til Luke looked over and saw the look Grant was giving Calen. He knew that look. "Ok the contract has been signed and dated." Calen handed them over to Grant. "So you and Luke are getting a move on with work?" "Yes. I didn't want to wait and Calen said we could." Luke answered. "Well that's good. Better to get things started with rather than put it off." Grant winked at Calen. Calen gave a slight smile. He thought Grant was a good looking guy, but he wasn't drawn to him like Luke. But he didn't know if they were gay or not and at this moment he didn't want to know. Both of them had smiled excessively towards him, but Grant flirted more. After being cheated on, mistreated and used by his last three exes, Calen would put a stop to any kind of relationship. "I agree, work seems to never end around here, but it's how I like it." Luke replied. Another moment of silence passed by. Grant's thoughts raced in his mind. He was strongly attracted to Calen. His aroma of sweet smelling scent filled him up more. He was even more intrigued that Calen was going to be manager soon. After talking to Lisa and Martin, Grant found out about Calen making a name for himself as a top sales agent. He liked this a lot. Not only was Calen attractive, but he was moving on up. Grant thought Calen would look so good by his side. "Well I need to go and talk to Martin again, Luke it was nice seeing you and will catch up with you when we go to Martin's." "Calen, it was nice seeing you again as well and hope it won't be the last!" Grant hook Calen's hand and winked at him. "Likewise." Calen responded. This didn't sit well with Luke. He knew he had to somehow get his scent on Calen again. He needed to make it known to Grant that Calen was his. Now wasn't the time or the place to do so. He would have to wait til they all meet up at Martin's. Closing the door, Calen and Luke sat at the deck, trying to remember where they left off. "So where were we?" asked Calen. "Oh yeah...twelve years with the other agency; why did you choose here?" "I just got tired of the city life. I like rural areas a bit more and also the property values, along with bigger commissions, prompted me to change." answered Luke. "Yeah...I hear ya on the rural areas. Grew up in the country myself and well I can't picture living anywhere else. Plus I like the quietness of it all." Wanting to get straight to the point, Luke asked where he met Grant at. The way Grant was looking at Calen played over and over in his mind. He loved Grant as a brother, but knew now that boundaries have to be set. He knew Grant was a playboy and there was no way he was going to let Grant flirt with Calen. "I was doing my errands and he drove up along the sidewalk and asked for the directions to the office. Told him who I was and gave him the directions." Calen said. Found Ch. 04 Calen saw the seriousness in Luke's face. He didn't know why Luke went from smiling to having a stern look; almost like he was upset that Calen met Grant. Calen brushed off the feeling quickly. Why would a stranger be protective of another stranger? Calen ruffled through his desk drawers to find the notebook containing the company's checks to hand over to Luke. He liked Luke's eagerness to get started quickly on the two properties. "Ok this is the company's check book and I will sign around 6 of them for the mean time. Since you are new, they will most likely call me to approve them." "Thanks Calen." "By the way Calen, I hate to ask this but...where is the lake house?" Remembering that Luke was new in town, Calen felt disappointed in himself for just assuming Luke knew where the property was. Again his face turned red, but this time with embarrassment. "Oh gosh Lucas, I'm sorry! It didn't occur to me that you wouldn't know where it was. Sorry." "It's ok Calen. I'm glad you had enough faith in me in knowing where the property was at." "Ok that didn't sound right did it?" asked Luke. Both giggled at the assumption. Luke could smell Grant on Calen. "Well since it's almost lunch time, how about we take a cruise to the lake house? It's not too far from town." exclaimed Calen. SUCCESS "Sure, sounds good to me. Maybe we can grab a bite to eat or something?" Luke asked. "We can grab some burgers and maybe eat them on the deck." Calen replied. Both men headed out the door. Luke had to get his scent on Calen quickly. He didn't want to just reach out and touch him for no reason. This would freak Calen out. "How about we take my truck out Calen? That way you don't have to waste gas and it's more sensible than taking two vehicles, unless you have somewhere else to go?" asked Luke. "Hmmm...no other plans. We can go in your truck Lucas." Luke warmly smiled at Calen. Calen returned the gesture. Who is this man really thought Calen. He seems so familiar. He said that maybe they crossed paths years ago, but how could he forget such a handsome face; those eyes. He couldn't put his finger on it. As they walked down the hallway, Calen was ahead of Luke. Luke admired the sight from behind. He knew that it would be awhile before he would be able to taste and claim Calen, but it didn't hurt to look-just to innocently look. Calen's ass was just right. It wasn't big or small, just right to cup his hands on it Luke thought. Luke's cock began to move in his pants. He needed to think of something else to keep his mind focused. He didn't want to freak people out at the office with his erection, and he knew if his erection got any more intense, there would be nothing he could do to keep his inner wolf from claiming Calen right then and there. What a way to start out the first day on the job! "Where are you parked at Lucas?" "Over there; the dark blue SUV is mine." "Oh wow that's yours? I saw it earlier and thought it was bad ass!" "Thanks! I think it's bad ass too. I worked hard for it. It was a gift to myself 6 months ago." Calen went to the passenger's side of the SUV. Luke went to Calen's side and unlocked the door. Calen smile and said thanks. Luke wanted to get real close to him, even for a second. Yes, he could of pressed UNLOCK on his key chain, but why waste the battery? As Luke walked to his side, his inner wolf rose again. Calen was in his truck. A moment of panic set in. What if he couldn't control himself with Calen there. What if it was too much to hold his inner wolf back and he forced himself on Calen. NO! He needed to think straight. Luke took in a deep breath and got into his truck. Pulling out the parking lot, Calen was impressed with Luke's SUV. He always wanted to have one, but Calen loved his pick-up truck and didn't want to trade it in. Luke's inner wolf was racing inside of him. He needed to be released to claim his mate. It took all of Luke's inner strength to hold him back. He could NOT let his wolf out now. If he did, it would be disastrous. Driving down the main street, Luke would take a quick glance over at Calen. He could sense Calen's unsteadiness and would look away. The redness on Calen's cheeks appeared again and Luke smirked at the sight. So cute. So adorable. MINE! "Where's the best place for burgers?" Luke asked. "There's a lil burger joint on Maple Street that has some awesome burgers and killer fries." answered Calen. Turning the corner, Luke saw the burger place Calen was talking about. His senses caught the scent of the burgers. Even though he was a good distance from the restaurant, the aroma of the burgers was mouth watering. Driving up to the drive-thru window, Luke reached for his wallet. Calen stopped him and offered to pay. After playful banter on who would pay, Luke gave in and let Calen pay for the meal. Calen reached for his wallet and pulled out a $20. He handed it over to Luke. "Here ya go Lucas." "Thanks Calen." Grabbing the bag of food and the change from the window attendant, Luke handed it over to Calen. Calen somehow fumbled with the bag and nearly dropped it. Turning over, Luke noticed that Calen was about to drop the bag and reached for it. Calen ended up catching it mid-way and Luke's hand ended up on the bottom of Calen's hand. "I'm all kinds of clumsy it seems." Luke smiled and drove out. Found Ch. 05 Grant drove up to Martin's home exhausted from the long drive earlier and the meeting. He was glad to be here and settle down for a while. Entering the house he was greeted by one of the maids. She took his coat and briefcase and escorted him to his room upstairs. The drive to Martin's house was a pleasant one. All that Grant had on his mind was Calen. Calen was young, handsome, successful; what more could a guy want? Grant knew he needed to have him and he needed to claim him. He did smell Luke's scent on him, but he just took it as a simple handshake since they did meet at the meeting. He wanted Calen now. His body ached for him. Opening the door to his room, Grant threw himself on the bed. It felt good to lie down after a long day. Calen, sweet Calen. Grant couldn't get him out of his mind. His scent was a drug to him. So addicting; so intoxicating. He needed Calen now. Grant never felt this way about anyone before. After years of playing the field, he has found his mate. This revelation was a shock to himself. Lying down on the bed, the thoughts of Calen raced through Grant's mind. He could feel his cock getting hard with each thought that passed. Grant slowly began thrusting his hips into the mattress making his cock even harder. As he pressed down more, he could feel the precum slowly coming out of his cock. He thrusted more and more. Turning over on his back, Grant began running his hands up and down his bulge. It felt so hard and so good. A low guttural growl was let loose as Grant rubbed on his bulge even more. "Fucking need you Calen." "Fucking want you." Grant unbuttoned his shirt, exposing his built, hairy chest. He began rubbing his hands up and down his chest. He licked his fingers and began rubbing his hard nipples. Extremely sensitive, Grant pinched at them and played with them, making them more hard and red. Another growl escaped from the lycan; his cock begging to be let out. He ran his hands more on his hairy chest. He imagined Calen on top of him, running his hands on his chest, feeling the softness of the hair. He imagined Calen leaning over and licking his sensitive nipples. His cock throbbing more in his pants. It needed to be let out. Grant's slid his hands down to his bulge again, this time he undid his belt and unzipped his pants. Taking his dick out, Grant licked his right hand and began stroking his wet cock. The thought of Calen's tongue going up and down the shaft sent a burst of precum out of Grant's cock. He tasted it, savoring it. If only Calen were here to taste him. The inner wolf in Grant began running rampant in him. He wanted to be let loose now. It needed Calen. Grant closed his eye and fantasized Calen sucking on his cock, his head going up and down swallowing the 9 inch cock with ease. Up and down, slowly and deep, Calen's throat was being fucked by Grant's hard cock. Grant's balls began to tighten with each thrust into Calen's throat. He could feel Calen's saliva slowly running down his balls. He soon felt Calen's tongue playing with them. "Fuck yeah baby suck on them, make them wet for daddy." Taking Grant's cock, Calen once again put it in his mouth. Up and down, slowly and deep. Grant moaning in pleasure. "Rape my mouth Grant." "Fuck yeah Calen!" Grant taking his hands, pushed down hard on Calen's head, making him gag on the 9 inches. Calen choked and grasped for air. Grant pulled Calen's head off his cock, seeing more saliva come out from Calen's mouth. "You like that Calen?" Taking Calen's head, Grant pushed down making Calen taken every single inch of his hard, cut cock. "Take it!" "Take it!" Calen once again choked and grasped for air. Taking Calen's face, Grant began kissing him, tasting his precum in Calen's mouth. Kissing hard and wet, Grant turned Calen on his back and was on top of him. He opened Calen's legs and placed his cock head right at Calen's hole. Grant kissed Calen passionately. Their tongues wrestling; tasting each other. Grant slowly thrusted his hips into Calen, making his cock head slowly press into Calen's asshole. Calen moaned at the sensation. Kissing the side of Calen's neck, Grant made his way down to Calen's nipples. He flicked at one and rubbed on the other at the same time. Calen turned his head and moaned again. Grant could feel Calen's cock rubbing on his stomach and getting even harder. He tongued his way down Calen's chest to his stomach. He gently kissed the belly button, only to continue tonguing at Calen's treasure trail. Calen's body aching for more. Slowly, Grant made his way down to Calen's cock. Oozing with precum, Grant took his tongue and tasted the sweet saltiness of the nectar. Calen thrusted his hips upwards urging Grant to suck it. "Eager lil pup aren't ya?" Taking Calen's cock, grant began licking up and down the shaft. He could taste the coat of precum that clung onto the cock. It tasted so fucking good. "Suck it Grant." Grant began sucking on Calen's cock. Calen slowly thrusted his cock into Grant's mouth. Grant took the cock and rubbed it on his hairy chest. Calen arched his back at the sensation of chest hair on his sensitive cock head. Calen slammed a hand down on the bed and let out a moan. "AHHHHHHHH!" This pleased the lycan. Grant looked down to see his hairy chest wet with precum. A big grin appeared on his face. Calen was getting wetter. He started sucking Calen's cock again. This time Calen took his hands and held Grant's head as he throat fucked him. Thrusting his hips up and down deeper into Grant's mouth. Precum mixed with Grant's spit, slowly oozed down the shaft. Grant pulled his head away and rubbed the wet dick on his hairy chest again. Swirling the head on his nipple. Grant took the cock and rubbed in the middle of his chest where there was more hair. "Fuck yeah, rub my cock on the sweet spot," referring to the spot right between the pecks, where there is more hair. Grant rubbed Calen's cock on it. The hair was sticking to Calen's swollen cock head. Calen closed his eyes tightly, causing a single tear to run down the side of his face. Calen arched his back even more. "My asshole is throbbing Grant." Grant let out a low growl. His mate eager to take him. "Want me to fuck you Calen?" "Fuck me Grant!" Grant spit into his hand and coated his dick with his spit. He swirled his cock head on Calen's hole, teasing him and making him ache for it. Calen begged for more teasing and Grant was more than happy to oblige. Grant let a string of spit leave his mouth and watched it land right on Calen's asshole. He rubbed his cock up and down on it; feeling the throbbing hole, wanting the cock to be let in. He slowly pushed his hips forward, penetrating the hole. He could feel the tightness on his cock head as he slowly pushed it in, then pulled it back out. Calen arched his back again and felt the pain of Grant's huge cock go in. It hurt so good, he wanted more. Slowly, Grant, inch by inch, entered Calen; his tightness grabbing hold of Grant's cock. He began fucking him slow, deep and raw. Calen moaned out in pain and in pleasure. Grant grabbed Calen's legs and put them over his shoulder as his hips began pumping more into Calen as he moaned out in ecstasy. Grant's fangs exposed themselves and his eyes turned into a pale green. His inner wolf was unleashed and ready to claim. "Fuck me deeper Grant." "Is that what you want Calen?" "Yes." Grant began fucking him harder and deeper. Feeling the tightness of Calen's hole grabbing his cock made him even more hard. Harder and harder he fucked. Calen pulled on the sheets of the bed, his asshole was on fire. The hard cock of Grant's forced itself more and more into Calen. Grant could feel Calen's asshole throb. He knew Calen was close to cuming, as was he. "Come on baby, cum for me. Blow that load all over my hairy stomach!" Calen took his cock and began stroking it. Grant pinched at Calen's nipples to make the sensation even more pleasurable. Deeper and deeper Grant went into Calen. He began to feel Calen's hole tightening up; he was ready to cum. "Fuck...fuck...I'm gonna cum..." "AH FUCK!" "FUCK!" "FUCK!" "Yeah that's it Calen, shoot that load!" Calen's hole began throbbing more and more with each spray of cum that he shot. Most of his cum landed on Grant's hairy stomach. Grant smiled. The rest of the cum landed on Calen's own stomach. Grant reached down with his hand and wiped the cum, licking it off his fingers. He then put his fingers into Calen's mouth, so he could taste his own cum. Grant began moving his hips back and forth again. He was close to cumming and wanted to drop the load deep into Calen. "Fuck Calen, I'm getting ready to cum. You want it?" "Fucking give it to me Grant." "Where do you want it?" "I want it in me Grant. Breed me. Claim me!" Grant began fucking Calen as if there was no tomorrow. It was hurting his hole but Calen took it. Harder and harder he fucked. Grant wanted to drop his load all the way inside of Calen. He wanted to coat his walls with his hot seed and make Calen his. The pressure was building up inside of him. A howl from inside began to grow. It was now! "FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUCK!!!" "AH!" "AH!" "AH!" Grant pounded a few more times, making sure his cum was deep in Calen. Calen wrapped his legs around Grant's waist and squeezed hard, trapping Grant and his cock deep inside of him. A loud massive howl echoed in the room signaling that the claiming was done. Grant's seed was planted, making Calen his forever. Falling onto Calen, Grant kissed him gently, tasting his lips. Grant got off of Calen and rolled onto his side. He held Calen close to him, snuggling. Grant closed his eyes. Grant slowly woke up a few hours later. He couldn't believe at what just happened. His fantasy was intense, with evidence all over him. "Shit, that was fucking intense." He cleaned himself off and went back to taking a nap. *********************** Luke and Calen drove up into the lake house property that was outside of town. Luke liked the scenery, but he could see that the house really needed some fixing up. He looked over at Calen and saw him sigh. He didn't know why he did that but he wasn't going to ask either. "Here's the place. Not too far from town." "Looks good but it does need some work." replied Luke. Luke drove around to where the car port was. Getting out of his SUV, he looked around and liked the size of the house. It was a two story with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. It would make a nice home for a young couple. "Where should we eat?" asked Luke. "We can eat on the deck. I've been coming here for lunch on my own every so often." "You have?" "Yeah, I like the peace. I like work and all, but sometimes I need to get away and think." Luke now understood what the sigh meant; Calen likes the property. Both men walked towards the deck of the house. It was in decent shape and all it really needed was to be sanded down and re-varnished. As they walked up the steps towards it, Calen took a wrong step and nearly fell down. Luke grabbed his hand and held him. He wasn't expecting that at all. But now he's holding Calen's hand, his scent is on him. Calen's misfortune was Luke's lucky break. "What the hell!" Calen grunted out. "It's ok Calen, I got you." "Geez I'm 28 and I still can't walk worth a shit!" Calen let out a slight giggle. He was completely embarrassed at what happened. He was making a fool out of himself left and right and didn't know why. He was never this clumsy. He wondered what was going on with him. Calen looked over at Luke and him smile. Calen smiled back as Luke let go of his hand. Calen's face was red again. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING he thought. Both men walked towards the table that was on the deck. Luke looked at the lake and smiled. Not once, not twice, but three times he touched his mate. Small touches, but touches nonetheless! This was going to be a long and trying process, but after 10 years, he was willing to wait a lifetime for Calen. He quickly pinched himself to see if this was all a dream. It wasn't. "The burgers smell good Calen!" "Believe me they taste even better!" Calen set the burgers down on the table. Luke grabbed the sodas and placed one in front of Calen and himself. Calen got the large order of fries and put them between him and Luke. They were ready to eat. The quietness of the area intrigued Calen; and Lucas as well. The last few years have been hell for Calen. So much so that it made him want to be alone more. He loved Natalie and her son Miguel, but he really needed his alone time. Sorting all the bullshit in his life made him depressed and angry. He did have his happy moments, but they were few and too far in between. He loved his family's ranch, but since he barely talks to his family, he hasn't made any trips back. So when this property came up, he took advantage of the space and the quietness. It sat in escrow for awhile since the previous owners were undecided on whether to sell or not. But Calen knew it would be a matter of time before it gets sold. He wished he could afford it, but right now he couldn't. "What's on your mind Calen?" Luke asked seeing the uncertainty on Calen's face. "Huh...it's nothing. Just thinking about stuff at home." "Do you need to go back already, because I can take you?" "No Lucas, I don't need to go back yet." Luke sensed the tension in Calen and stopped asking questions. Calen didn't want to divulge his personal stuff to someone he barely knew. Hell, even if he did knew him well, he still wouldn't tell him what was going on. It's how Calen was. He lacked trust in people and rightfully so. The only person he trusts more than anybody was Natalie. She was his rock. She was like a sister, mother, angel all rolled into one. No one else understood him but her and that's the way he wanted it. "The burger is real good Calen. They really put their foot into it!" "Well that's the secret ingredient!" Both laughed. A cool breeze ran through the place. Calen took in a deep breath and closed his eyes. He would miss this place. ***************************** "Hello?" "Oh hey mom. I was about to call you." "No that's alright, Calen is going to take care of Miggy while I'm out." "Ok ok I will call you tomorrow; love you, bye." Natalie hung up her cell and quickly started getting dressed for her date with Dr. William Roman. Her nerves ran through her like crazy horses running down a race track. It had been a couple of years since her fiancé, Mitchell, had died in that terrible accident and wasn't sure if she would ever be able to move on. Calen was by her side each and every single day. Even with his drama, he always put Natalie first. With Mitchell gone, Calen took over in helping Natalie with her doctor appointments. He took her shopping for maternity clothes, Lamaze classes, and even redecorated one of the guest rooms in his house for the baby. Calen felt that this baby was a blessing. He would love nothing more to be a dad himself. Fumbling with her hair, Natalie looked down at her mirror and saw the last picture she took of Mitchell. It was at a little get together she had for Calen on his birthday. She took the picture in her hand and stared into it. She missed him. Both Calen and Mitch were great friends. Both dealt with the same family issues and because of that, their friendship grew. He knew Calen's pain and was there for him whenever he needed. Tears began to form in her eyes and Natalie quickly dried them. She knew Mitchell wanted her to be happy and move on with life. If the situation was reversed, she would of wanted the same for Mitchell. "Mitchell, I miss you so much. But I feel now that I have to move on. You will always be in my heart. When I look at Miggy I see you." Placing the picture down, Natalie finished brushing her hair. Her nerves came back and she couldn't help but smile. She found William very handsome and very dapper. She wanted the night to be perfect. She was eager for Calen to get home from work. She wanted details from his venture to the lake house with Luke. Hearing her cell go off, she quickly answered it. "Hey Cal." -Hey, I'm on my way home already. Are you done getting ready? "Yeah, just about done." -Cool. Do you need anything from town? Does Miggy need anything? "No, we don't need anything." -Ok, I'll be there in a bit. Calen soon reached the home he shared with Natalie and Miggy. It was a 2 story house just a few miles from town. Calen loved his home and it's location. Soon after Mitchell's death, he asked Natalie to move in with him. Calen doted on her day and night. He was there for her all throughout her pregnancy. And was there when she gave birth to Miggy. This was Calen's family now; the only bright spot in his life. The house also holds special meaning to Calen. It was the first house he was in charged of renovating. Most of his time was spent working on this house. Every detail, large and small, was done by him and took great pride with the outcome. He was then surprised when Natalie's parents decided to buy the house and was even more surprised when they presented the keys back to Calen. It was a shock to say the least. The Velarde's knew of Calen's problems and tried to help out as much as they could. They thought of him as a son and stood by him after he came out to his family. When seeing what his family put him through, they severed ties with Calen's family. It was a hard thing to do, but it needed to be done for the sake of Calen and theirs. It was due to that, that Natalie's parents let Calen stay in the newly bought house. After becoming a full time agent, Calen sold a multimillion dollar ranch and with the commission he earned, bought the house from the Velarde's. His first home and new life. **************************** "Wow Nat, you look beautiful!" "Thanks babe. Soooo....." Natalie paused looking at Calen giving him a funny look with her eyes trying to get Calen to open up about Luke. "What?" asked Calen. "What do you mean 'what'?" Natalie replied back. Calen shrugged his shoulders. "Your lunch date with Lucas- how did it go?" "It went good. Made an ass out of myself, but it went well and for your info hun, it wasn't a date!" 'Well whatever it was! And don't get snippy or I'll break you!" Natalie replied with a British accent knowing it will make Calen laugh. It did! Both friends laughed for a bit. Calen walked over to Natalie who was sitting in front of her mirror. He took her diamond necklace from her jewelry box and gently placed it around Natalie's neck and fastened it. "Seriously though, how did you make an ass our of yourself?" "Well first I gave him the paper work for the lake house property and just sent him off and forgot to tell him where the house was. Then we decided to eat at the place. So we picked up our food and as he was passing it to me, I nearly dropped it in his expensive SUV. Then after we get there, we walked up the steps to the deck and I slipped and nearly fell with the food. My only saving grace was him catching me. I felt like an idiot Nat!"' Natalie giggled and stood up to find her shoes. She knew why Calen was making a fool of himself in front of Lucas. She had seen him act this way before with the first guy he got real serious with; Charlie. He would stumble all over the place when he saw Charlie. They both worked with each other at Calen's first job. If he wasn't stumbling then he was stuttering, if he wasn't doing that then he was blushing so bad his face would get hot and his glasses would fog up. Was Calen starting to like Lucas? That ran through Natalie's mind for a while. The strange part is that Calen only knew Lucas for a day; one whole day. At the meeting, Natalie noticed Lucas' expression as Calen walked into the meeting. It was as if everything around him disappeared and the only person in that room was Calen. Natalie new the possibility of Calen going out with anyone now is slim to none. His last ex really did a number on him and he swore no guy would ever be in his life or heart again. Found Ch. 05 While in Miggy's room, Calen heard a vehicle outside. Seeing the headlights from the window, he knew who it was. "Nat I think your doctor lover is here!" "Shut up he's not my lover!" "Well not yet anyway!" Calen giggled. Natalie rolled her eyes at Calen in which he smiled back at her. Natalie has spent the last couple of hours getting ready; big, wavy curls, soft make-up, burgundy off the shoulder dress and matching heels-which she STILL hasn't found! William Roman pulled up the drive way in his brand new dark blue Mercedes. It was the same color as Luca's SUV, Martin's truck, and Melina's sports car. Calen scoped out the car from Miguel's bedroom window and though it was a "sweet ride". He also scoped out William as he got out of his car holding a bouquet of white roses . Natalie's description didn't match to what he looked like- he was GORGEOUS! William walked down the yard to the front door and knocked. "Let him in please Cal!" "Yeah, give me a sec." Calen replied as he gave little Miggy his bottle of formula. Walking towards the door, it hit Calen, this could be the one for Natalie! He knew one day Natalie would meet a new guy and move on and possibly start a new life. He just didn't expect it to be so soon. Opening the door, Calen marveled at the sight of the doctor. The only thing that he thought in his mind was DAYUM! "Calen?" "Dr. Roman I presume?" Both men shared a soft giggle. "Please call me William." "Come in, Natalie has been expecting you." William nodded and walked in. Calen closed the door and escorted William to the living room. William could smell Calen's scent. It was a sweet smell but one he couldn't distinguish since Calen isn't his chosen. He did however could distinguish Natalie's scent. It was a simple scent of vanilla. It was slight but it played with him. Natalie was his! "She is almost done getting ready. She is looking for her shoes and Lord knows where they are at!" "I don't mind waiting." William responded back. "Please have a seat William. Can I get you anything to drink?" "Oh no thanks Calen, I appreciate the offer!" "So how was Miggy's check up go?" asked Calen as he took his seat opposite of William. "It went good. I told Natalie that he is due for his second set of shots in a couple months. His temperature was good as well and everything is cleared up." "That's good to hear. I was going to take him myself but I had too much to do so I gave Natalie the rest of the day off to take him." I will forever be grateful to you Calen, William thought. "Natalie said you both work together at Smith's; how is the new boss coming along?" "You know Martin?" Calen asked. William nodded. "Yes, I've known him for 16 years now. He is like family to me. He is a great business man and a great business partner to have." William added. He didn't want to come out and say that Martin was his alpha and they were werewolves. That is Lucas' job. "I've only talked to him over the phone a couple times and then I was late for our meeting. He wants to meet with me to talk a few properties he is thinking of buying." "Did you meet the others?" William asked. "Yes I did. Actually Nat and I met Melania a few days prior at Antony's. Melania and I had a bit of a run-in in there. She introduced herself to me and then introduced her to Nat and a couple friends of ours." William smiled. "Then I met her husband, Martin, and Lucas Jarreau at the meeting." Calen nodded his head as William smiled towards him. Some reason he felt at ease with the stranger. Normally with new people, Calen is reserved until he gets to know them. But he felt real comfortable with William. He brushed it off since Natalie talked about him constantly. "So when does the foursome start work?" William asked. "In a few days. But Lucas came by my office after work to get started. He talked to my soon-to-be former boss and she gave him the documents for a house we are flipping. He wanted to get my approval on some things." "Yeah that's Lucas alright. He is not one to sit and wait. When he wants something he gets it. He as always been a hard worker and I'm sure he will an important asset to the company." "I am glad to hear of it. So far he is proving himself. He gave me a few suggestions on what we should do to the property and by the looks of it, it will look even better." A soft curse came from Natalie's room. Both men looked in the direction of where it came from. William's inner wolf became alert. "You ok Nat?" Calen asked as he was about to stand from his seat. "I stubbed my toe." Calen giggled and shook his head. Soon Natalie entered the living room. The sight of Natalie's beauty took William's breath away. Handing the bouquet to Natalie, William took in her scent. "Thank you William, they are beautiful!" "I am glad you liked them." William responded back as he smiled at her. "Let me go put them in some water real quick." "Let me do it Natalie. You two should get going." Calen said as Natalie handed the flowers to him. "Thanks Calen. Call me if anything happens ok?" "Don't worry, everything will be fine Nat." "Calen, it was nice meeting you and I hope the 3 of us can go grab a drink together soon." William said as he extended his hand to shake Calen's. "Likewise William and will take you up on that offer." The trio walked towards the front door. William carefully put Natalie's coat on her in a gentle nature, as if she had delicate skin. Calen smiled and saw them walk out. Natalie turned around and hugged and kissed Calen. It felt differently to him. It felt like; the end. Found Ch. 06 Walking up the stairs, Melania heard her brother Lucas walking around his room. She wondered about his and Calen's outing to the property earlier. The expression she saw on Luke's face when Calen walked in during the meeting was priceless. She knew she HAD to bug him about it. "Hey can I come in?" Melania asked as she softly knocked on Luke's slightly opened door. "Hey sis, come in." "What are you doing?" Melania asked. "Just folding and putting my clothes away." "Wow, my little brother ACTUALLY folding his own laundry!" Melania did a fake gasp and looked outside his window. "What are you looking for Mel?" "Pigs flying." Melania answered back. "Ha, smartass!" Lucas gave her a grin and finished folding the last of his clothes. "So, how was it?" asked Melania. "How was what? What are you talking about?" Lucas responded with a grin on his face as if he did something naughty. "Oh you know, that little excursion you had with that guy. Gosh I can't think of his name...you know...that one guy...YOUR MATE?" "Oh him?!" Melania rolled her eyes and grinned at her brother. She loved him but at times wanted to hit him. "It went good. We picked up some burgers and we ate at the lake house. You should of seen him, he was all kinds of clumsy." "Clumsy?" "Yeah, he nearly dropped our food then tripped while walking up the stairs to the deck. But lucky for him I was there to catch him." "Lucky for him or lucky for you?" "Maybe both!" Lucas answered as he closed the drawer to this dresser. "You made him trip didn't you Luke?" "Now Melania, would I do something like that?!" Lucas smiled. Both siblings laughed. All day Lucas wore a smile on his face. You'd think he had won the lottery. In essence, he has. Calen was finally in his presence and it felt so good. "You should of seen him fumbling with his words and then turning red in the face. It was cute." "Aww. I'm glad the day turned out in your favor today Lucas. I see that spark in your spirit again." Lucas put his clothes away and sat down on his bed beside Melania. He knew things had to really flow naturally with Calen or he could risk loosing him again. This was not an option. He waited too long to find his love. Melania saw his smile fade and knew something was wrong, "What's wrong?" she asked. "I saw it in his eyes." "What?" Melania asked wanting to know what stopped Lucas' sudden happiness. "I saw his hurt. You know when you said you saw it in his eyes, I saw it. It wasn't until we got to the lake house and started eating that I noticed it. It was like he was replaying whatever his troubles are over and over in his head. I asked him what was wrong and he really didn't want to talk about it." "Well that's why Martin and I said to take it slow with him. He is going to be yours Luke, no doubt about it, but it's going to take time. Also remember that he doesn't know of our kind." Lucas breathed in a heavy sigh. Melania was right. "I know, but him not knowing that we are lycans doesn't seem as big to me. Actually I think it wouldn't even matter. I think having someone who won't betray him or hurt him is more important." "Well I hope so Lucas." Melania playfully shoved Luke in an effort to get him to smile again. She knew that the waiting is going to be rough for Luke. But she reassured him that she will be there for him. She could see the eagerness in her brother and it was straining him already. "Let's go down stairs and eat. Grant woke up a little bit ago and he is waiting for us with Martin and Marco." "Speaking of which, I saw Grant today at the office after we had the meeting." "Martin wanted him to oversee the contracts one final time before the deal was settled. I talked to him a little bit before and he seemed cheerful." Melania said. "He came to Calen's office while I was in there with Calen working on the plans." Melania was puzzled on where Luke was going with this. "He did?" "Yup. Calen let him in and needless to say it was a shock to see him walk in. I haven't seen him in years. I hugged him and then both of us sat down at Calen's desk." Melania nodded her head. "After we sat, he had this look to him. Just smiling real big and even winked at Calen a couple times when he would make a comment." Melania nodded her head and knew what was going on. "Calen shook his hand and it irritated me so much. I couldn't believe I felt that way towards Grant and Calen. It was just a simple handshake." Lucas stood up and walked towards his window. "Well, I don't blame you. Grant left his scent on Calen. Plus he doesn't know that Calen is yours. You never did tell him about Calen right? I'm not talking about now, but after he rescued you?" Lucas turned and faced his sister, "No." "How come?" "Because I knew how he would of acted. You know Grant, he is not one for commitment and you know how he likes to play the field." "Yes I know how he is." Melania said. "I just didn't want him making fun of me back then, especially falling for a human. You know I looked up to him when we were younger." Lucas stopped then continued, "I love him as a brother but the look he had told me something else. I felt uneasy with him looking at Calen. Why do you think I was glad Calen almost fell at the lake house? I needed to leave my scent on him." Grant was a known playboy in the pack. Lucas and Grant were the last 2 in the pack without any mates. Grant was in no hurry to settle down any time soon and he liked it that way. He was able to do what he wanted and do WHO ever he wanted. No fuss no muss. Martin was upset with Grant's attitude towards finding a mate. He would casually ask Grant if he found anyone "special" and Grant would simply grinned and answered no. At first, Martin thought Grant some how suppressed those feelings, then thought that he hasn't found the one yet. Only time would tell. Grant dated a few members of the pack, but nothing ever came from them. "What would you do if Grant persists?" Melania asked hoping the answer Lucas would give wouldn't put him in any trouble with the pack or get anyone hurt for that matter. Looking at Melania, Lucas gave her a stern answer, "Stand my ground. Calen is mine and I will let Grant know it." That wasn't want Melania wanted to hear but she knew Lucas was right. In all her life she has never heard of two lycans recognizing the same person as their mate. She didn't know what to do or say. "Let's go down stairs. I am hungry!" "Right behind ya sis!" Lucas replied back. Luke Gently stepped on the back of Melania's shoe, making it come half way off. Luke then proceeded to cut in front of her and run. "ASSHOLE!" Melania growled and quickly ran after him. Grown lycans acting like cubs; sweet bliss. *************************** Arriving at Antony's, the waiter escorted William and Natalie to their table. William pulled out Natalie's chair and carefully scooted her in. William took his seat at the opposite end. The waiter handed the couple their menus and said he would return shortly to take their orders. Both looked at the menus and then set them aside. Natalie took in a deep breath; her nerves were getting to her. "This is a nice place Natalie." "Yes it is. Calen and I have been eating here ever since they opened it 3 years ago." Natalie answered back. "Really? Well no wonder they know your orders easily!" William let out a soft laugh as well as Natalie. "So Miss Velarde, tell me more about yourself." "What would you like to know?" "Anything." William said back with a warm smile on his face. "Well, I've been a real estate agent for 6 years now and love it. I had wanted to become and interior designer but that was put on the back burner after Mitchell died. So I needed to get a career fast and make a living. I started around the same time Calen did. My son Miggy, is the light of my life and has been ever since I found out I was pregnant with him. His father is still near and dear to my heart and I see him in Miggy's face." William could see Natalie's smile start to fade. He didn't want to bring up any painful memories on their first date. "But I've learned to move on and if it wasn't for Calen, I'd be lost right now." she added. William leaned in closer as if he didn't want to miss any word that came out of his chosen's mouth. The sweet red lips, moving with such grace with each word spoken. So inviting. William was in a trance. "How long have you and Calen been friends?" "Gosh, he and I have known each other since we were five years old- so for 23 years." "That's a long time." "It is, but it seems longer though. We have had our ups and downs but we have always stuck by each other's side." The waiter soon came and brought out the wine. He carefully poured the red wine in each glass. Natalie took a sip. Those lips, William envied the glass. "I like how your face lights up when you talk about Calen." William said as he took a sip from his glass. "He's my angel; sometimes he's my splitting headache!" Natalie said as she giggled. William smiled in return. "He was the one who broke the news to me about Mitchell. He was close to him too; almost like brothers. Both had their fair share of family drama and could relate to each other." William nodded his head and took another sip. "I can see why you and him are close." "I remember him just grabbing me and holding me in his arms when the news suddenly sunk in. I broke down and he just held me and let me cry." Natalie took in a deep breath. She remember when Calen told her about Mitchell's death. It's only now she can talk about it without crying. But still, it hurt. "He was going through some stuff of his own at the time and he stood by me through it all. He helped with Mitchell's funeral arrangements, he took me to all of my doctor appointments I had while I was pregnant, and he was there with me when I gave birth to Miggy. We are inseparable." "Calen sounds like a phenomenal person." "He is. I love it when he is with Miggy. The both of them together make me smile. You should of seen him the first few nights, he would wake up and feed him and even changed him. But he nearly threw up when Miggy spit up on him. It was too funny. I was still in a funk then since Mitchell had died, but seeing his expression and all the dry heaving he did when the vomit landed on his neck was priceless! I laughed so hard I cried! He's going to be a great dad someday." "I think he already is!" William responded. "He is." Natalie smiled. The waiter came back and took their orders. Natalie ordered the grilled chicken breast with steamed vegetables and wild rice. William ordered grilled Tilapia with steamed red potatoes. They handed the menus back to waiter. Silence filled the air between the two for a few seconds. Natalie looked around. She saw Shaynah, another real estate agent, across the room. Shaynah spotted Natalie and quickly waved to her. Natalie returned the wave back. "Sorry, I saw a friend of mine." "Don't apologize Natalie." William smiled. Silence. "It's your turn. Tell me about yourself William." "What would you like to know?" "Everything." answered Natalie as she sipped her wine. "Well I was born in a small town..." "You don't have to start that early on." Natalie chuckled out. William grinned. "Ok lets see, I have been a pediatrician for over 10 years now and love it. I worked at a children's hospital for at least 9 years. Looking into Natalie's eyes, William was absolutely smitten with her; beauty, compassion, grace, just everything about her. Her scent mingled in William's nose again. His inner wolf paced inside wanting to claim her, but he held back. He loved her. "Then you decided to move to a smaller town?" asked Natalie. "Pretty much. Don't get me wrong, I love the kids I saw as patients and I loved working at the hospital, but I wanted something different. At first when I first started here, I had mixed feelings. It wasn't until 8 days being here that something changed that for me." "What was that?" "The mother of one of my patient's." Natalie was shocked by the answer and William could see her expression. A brush of heat came over her and before she knew it, William reached across the table and took her hand in his. She looked up at William only to see him gazing at her. She looked into his eyes and saw a faint glow in them. She thought it was the reflection from the candle lights, but can candle light reflect green from a person's eyes? Natalie blinked and the glow in William's eyes was gone. Maybe it was the glare from the candles. Maybe. The warmth that Natalie felt from William's hands sent a faint tingling sensation up her body. The few days leading up to the date, Natalie and William talked over the phone several times. He sent her flowers to her office and she sent him chocolates to his. They got close very quickly. She never had this happen to her before, not even with Mitchell, but here she was feeling something deep for this man that she hardly knew. "William, I...I'm flattered." Natalie somehow muttered out. "It's the truth Natalie. These past few days, you are all I think about." Natalie breathed in and sighed. She didn't know what to make of all this and William could tell she was getting a bit nervous. "I hope I didn't shock you." "Well it's not every day that I get a compliment like that William. I guess I am a bit tongue tied." Natalie let out a soft, but nervous giggle. The waiter soon appeared with their food. The sight of the waiter was a huge relief for Natalie. She didn't know what to do or what to say. She wanted to go to the ladies room and call Calen, but she felt it would have been rude to do that to William. Plus Calen had a bunch of paper work and she didn't want to take him away from that. She wanted dinner to go by quickly, only because she wanted to talk more with William. Not that they couldn't talk while eating, but how can someone be romantic with chicken in their mouth? "Lucas told me he and Calen are fixing up some house?" William asked, trying to change the subject and not wanting there to be silence while they ate. "They are fixing up a lake house that's right outside of town. Calen is in charge of the project." "How far from town is it?" "It's about 3 miles from town. There's a dirt road at the last stop sign. Turn into it and there it is. It's a real nice area." "What are they trying to fix up?" "I'm not too sure since I'm not part of that project, but Calen says it needs a new paint job, new roof, the floors need to be re-done, and they plan to rearrange a few of the window fixtures." "Doesn't sound like too much." "Actually the less problems, means more work. Sounds redundant, but in my experience, when there are 4 or 5 things that needs fixing, those 4 or 5 things are damaged to the max. So when we get house inspectors we hope to hear at least 10 things wrong with the house, because usually they are minor." "Is there anyone interested in the property?" "Not that I know of. But sometimes we don't get interest until we are half way done with the house." Natalie sipped her wine and looked around. She really didn't want to talk about real estate, neither did William. The conversation about the property went on throughout dinner. After paying for dinner, William took Natalie's coat and gently placed it on her and walked out of the restaurant. William opened the door to his car to let Natalie in. The night was still young and William really didn't want to take Natalie home just yet. He knew she had to tend to little Miggy but since Calen was watching over him maybe she can stay out a little longer. Natalie herself didn't want the night to end just yet. But she figured she had to call Calen just to check up on Miguel. "Hey, what are you doing?" Natalie asked Calen. -Hey Nat! I just finished my paper work and watching some TV. "How's Miggy?" -He's doing good. I burped him after his bottle and he spit up on me. Natalie giggled out loud. "Only with you!" -I know, only with me and it's the worst kind too! "But everything is ok right?" -Yes everything is ok. Are you on your way home already? "Not sure. But I just wanted to check up on Miggy. I will see you later." -Bye Nat. "Bye." Natalie put her cell back in her purse. William looked over at her, "How's Miggy doing?" "He's fine. He spit up on Calen but he's ok." "Good." William smiled. Driving around town, William looked at the moon and knew that in a few days it will be a full moon out. He loved it when it was full. The misconception was that Werewolves only turn during the full moon. It wasn't the case. It only holds true when a person is bitten and turned into a werewolf. Their first change is during a full moon. It was a hard and painful process that couldn't be avoided. But after their first initial change, it tends to get somewhat easier. After a few years, it becomes really simple and they are able to shift whenever they wanted. *************************** Driving past the theater, they saw that it was closed. Still driving around town, Natalie suggested that they head to the town square. The town square was a huge open area with grass and a huge gazebo right in the middle of it. They have a yearly carnival there and the high school hosted agricultural fairs there as well. Some nights they have outdoor bands and symphonies and other nights a big, white screen was brought in and movies from the 40s, 50s, and 60s were shown. Tonight a small jazz band was playing and Natalie loved jazz music. Since they couldn't go to the movies they could go dancing. William parked the car and both of them walked towards the gazebo. It was a beautiful night. The stars were out and bright, the moon was bright, a light breeze flew by that felt cool to the skin. The string of lights that hung on each tree, along with the lamp posts, illuminated the town square. Natalie and William walked around, seeing little kids running around, couples holding each other and others dancing. The jazz singer, a beautiful older black woman, stood in front of a huge grand piano singing an old school love song. Natalie stopped to listen. William put his arm around her and brought her closer to him. Natalie responded by laying her head on him. They continued to listen to the song until it finished. After the clapping from the audience stopped, the song Serenade in Blue started. William loved the song and asked Natalie to dance. "I love the oldies." William said as he held Natalie in his arms. "Glenn Miller. My parents listened to his stuff a lot. My favorite is Moonlight Serenade." Natalie responded back. "Moonlight Serenade huh? Do you like the moonlight/" "Yeah, I like the moonlight." William thought it was ironic or maybe even fateful that she would pick a song with "Moonlight" in it. Maybe too much of a coincidence? "I like the moonlight too. There's something mysterious about it. Especially when it's a full moon out; so bright but yet its dark. I love it." Natalie smiled at William. She did like the moonlight but she was never one to go outside even when it's a full moon out. With work and her son, she's usually in bed and is sound asleep. "You must be related to Calen." "How so?" asked William. "He loves it when the moon is full. When he used to live with his parents, he would go walking out back on his ranch or ride one of his horses. He said it calmed him." Calen would go outside at night almost every night. If the moon was full, that was when he would saddle his horse and go for a moon light ride. He loved the peace and quietness of a full moon. If he had things going on, a moon light ride seemed to always clear his head. But after leaving home and there was hardly any time to go out riding; even at night. He was so tired with work and helping with Miggy that he couldn't bring himself to go out riding. He did however sit in his chair on the porch. It wasn't as soothing as riding, but it was the next best thing. He wanted to go back home when it was a full moon out just to get it out of his system but knew going back would mean arguing with his mom or dad about something and it would cause him to get in a bad mood. Found Ch. 06 "So it calms him? I've never heard that before." "I've never heard of it either, but he swears it does. He did it often but not now." The couple continued dancing with the space between them closing. William took Natalie's arms and placed them around his neck. He took his and wrapped them around her waist. Everything and everyone around them seemed to disappear. It was just them under the night sky, dancing in each others arms. It was perfect. William slowly pulled away from Natalie and looked deep into her eyes. He placed one hand on her cheek and gently brought his lips to hers and kissed her. Even thought Nat knew what was going to happen, she was still shocked by it. His lips felt so good against hers. William slowly slipped his tongue in, parting her lips. Natalie's tongue met with his. Both tongues massaging each other. Natalie could feel herself getting light headed. Her heart pounded fast in her chest. She was sure that William could hear it. William gently released Natalie's lips from his. He wanted to make love to her and claim her. He was so eager to make her his and by the way Natalie kissed, he knew she felt the same. William knew that it has been a while since Natalie had been with another since the passing of Mitchell, so the most respectable thing to do was wait. His inner wolf whimpered at the fact of waiting but it HAD to be done. He wanted that night to be special not only for him but for her as well. "I don't want to spoil the evening, but it's getting late." "Oh." Natalie responded back. William, feeling her disappointment replied back, "It's just that I know Calen and Miguel are asleep and I don't want you going into the house later than what it is and waking them up. Plus, I do not want to rush you if you in any way." "Thanks William." Natalie leaned her head up a little bit and kissed William. She wanted him, but she knew she had to wait too. All the feelings she had for him rushed to her like a tidal wave. She knew that William could never replace Mitchell, but felt that moving on with life was important. After all, if the tables were turned she would of wanted Mitchell finding happiness again. Going back to the car, the scent of another male caught his attention. It was faint, probably a good 5 or 6 miles away, and he didn't know who it belonged too. He caught wind of 2 more that he didn't recognize. He became tense and after helping Natalie into the car, quickly walked to the driver's side and left. "Everything alright?" Natalie asked seeing William hurrying into the car and driving off quickly. "Yes, I just want to make sure you don't go home too late." William breathed in. His inner wolf was alerted after smelling the 3 scents. He wanted to talk to Martin and have himself and 2 others from the pack to go see who the strangers are. He knew Martin and some of the other packs from surrounding territories were on the look out for Braydon and his pack of thugs, but he still felt a bit uneasy. Pulling up into the driveway of Calen's house, they could see the kitchen light on as well as the one in the living room. Calen was still up. William escorted Natalie to the front door. Their first date was over. "I had a great time William." "So did I. And I meant what I said earlier. I don't want to rush you into anything you aren't ready for. I'm a patient man." "Thanks William. That means a lot to me. So are you going to kiss me goodnight?" Touching her face, William gently tilted Natalie's face upwards just a bit. Their lips met for a moment. Slowly pulling away from Natalie, William once again softly touched Natalie's face. He didn't want the night to end. "I will see you tomorrow. Get some rest and tell Calen hi for me." "I will." Natalie smiled. William walked towards his car and smiled back at her. As he drove away, Natalie looked at the moon. This was the first time she really paid attention to it. It was beautiful. "Hey." Calen said in a high whisper. "Hi. Why are you still up?" Natalie asked as she joined him on the couch. "Well I'm not really that sleepy and I want to hear all about your date with Dr. Love!" "It was good, We had dinner then we were going to the movies but the theater was closed, so we went to the town square where a jazz band was playing." Natalie added as she took off her shoes and lifted her legs onto Calen's lap. He gave good massages. "Sounds like you had a good night Nat." "It was!" Calen continued massaging Natalie's feet. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes. She thought back on the date; movie, dancing, and the kiss. She could still taste his lips. She also remember the glow in William's eyes. She convinced herself it was the glare from the candle lights, but now she wasn't too sure. Honestly at this moment she didn't care. The date went well and she was home now and the massage Calen was giving her felt fucking great. "Keep going Cal, my feet hurt!" "No one told you to wear those high ass heels." Calen quickly answered back. "You love me right Calen?" "Duh!" Calen answered back. "Oh yeah, that was nice!" Natalie said back. "Of course I love you Nat." "Then be a dear and carry me to bed." Calen looked at Natalie and raised and eyebrow. "You've got to be kidding me?" "PLEASE CAL! My Feet hurt." "How about a piggy back ride?" Calen asked. Natalie stood on the couch and got on Calen's back. They turned off the lights to the living room and the kitchen. Calen grunted as he went up the stairs teasing Natalie as if she was heavy. Approaching Miggy's room, Natalie got off of Calen's back and slowly went in. She gently stroked Miggy's forehead and bent down to kiss him. She did the sign of the cross on him and kissed him once more. She crept out slowly and then walked to her room with Calen. He was kind enough to have her pajamas ready for her and her bed ready as well. After doing the sign of the cross on Calen, she kissed him on the forehead and watched him walk to his room. Natalie felt a soft hint of sadness in her as she watched Calen close the door to his room. She didn't know what to make of it. Closing the door to her room, she went to the side of her bed and took off her dress and jewelry and slipped her pj's on. Tucking herself in, she shook off that feeling of sadness about Calen and once again reminisced about the kiss with William. Doing the sign of the cross to herself, Natalie turned onto her side and went to sleep. Found Ch. 07 "Come on man let me go!" "You see, it's not that simple friend. I have seen you around and have seen first hand the deals that you do. I need someone like you in my pack." Braydon said as two of his thugs held a 20-year-old drug dealer against his will. Braydon spent the better part of 3 weeks eyeing the young dealer. He was business savvy and knew how to make money fast. "Pack---what do you mean pack? Come on man, I didn't mean to sell dope out here if this is your territory, but I've been here for years and never had any trouble." the frantic drug dealer said. "Pack...did I say pack? Braydon said sarcastically as he eyed the young dope dealer who was trying to free himself from the grips of the two thugs. Braydon planned on turning the dealer into a werewolf, but he also wanted a little "play mate" to satisfy his every sexual need. "As far as territory, this isn't my territory yet." "What the fuck are you talking about man? LET ME GO!" "What is the rush friend? You are the life of my little party here and it would be very rude if you were to leave so early. Just play with us!" Braydon said as he started to rub his dick. He looked at his two thugs signaling to them to get the dealer ready for what was about to come. Braydon had gone without sex and the taste of blood for a good while. Normally one of his pack members does the turning; he didn't like getting dirty. But every so often he gets that urge to taste blood. The two thugs took the young dealer to a nearby boulder that was in the far corner of the county park. Braydon unzipped his pants and took out his thick cut cock. He couldn't wait to drop his huge load of cum into the dealer's ass. And since he is such a "nice" guy, he's going to let his two thugs take a turn. "What the fuck are you doing? I'm no fuckin' faggot. Leave me the fuck alone!" Looking back, the dealer could see Braydon walking towards him with his cock out. He frantically started moving, trying to free himself but his strength was no match for his handlers. He could see the glow in Braydon's eyes and he stared right into them. He thought maybe it was the cocaine he had sniffed a few minutes before he was captured, but he had never seen people's eyes glow before. "THE FUCK ARE YOU GONNA DO? WHY ARE YOUR EYES GLOWING?!?! "I said it would be very rude if you were to leave early. The fun is now beginning and I don't want you to miss the fun." Braydon's cock started to drip precum. He placed the head of his dick right on the dealer's asshole. With one swift push, his whole cock was deep inside the young dealer. Hearing the cries of pain made Braydon's cock that much harder. Harder and harder he thrusted his bare cock into the young dealer. Braydon's thugs laughed as they held him down. "Come on boss when is it gonna be our turn?" one of them asked. "Fuck off, you'll get a chance." Braydon said as he kept on fucking. "OOOOOOOOOUUUUUCCCCHHH!!!" the dealer cried out. He could feel his insides being ripped apart by the massive bare cock. He had never experienced anything like this before. The grip the two thugs had on him was nearly cutting off the circulation from his wrists. Also the position they had him in made his back ache, along with the pain in his knee that he cut on a jagged piece of the rock. "Please stop man! It fucking hurts!" Deeper and harder Braydon's cock went in the nice tight asshole. He felt his balls tighten up and he was soon ready to blow his huge load. "Don't worry, I will be finished soon. But first I will make you a proposition---join my gang." "NO!" "I didn't fucking ask you. Join my gag and you will have all that you want and more!" Hearing the dealer sniffling and crying, Braydon asked him if that was a "yes." The dealer, wanting his raping to stop, agreed. Braydon let out a massive howl and shot his huge load inside of the dealer's ass. As he thrusted one last time, Braydon's fangs extended themselves and Braydon bit down hard on the young dealer's shoulder; blood pouring out into Braydon's mouth. The smooth, coppery taste of it; satisfying every taste bud in Braydon's mouth. The dealer, already hoarse from the crying and yelling, let out a faint scream of agony. With his mouth still clamped down on the dealer's shoulder, Braydon pulled out his still hard cock that was covered with cum and blood. Both thugs began licking their lips at the sight of the cum and blood soaked cock; they wanted their turn. "Leo, come clean me off. Eddie, see to it that our newest recruit is cleaned. Get the new clothes from the trunk and burn the ones he has on." Braydon ordered. "But boss, I thought we were gonna fuck him too!" whined Eddie. "Look at him; he wouldn't survive another session. Do as I say and get him cleaned...NOW!" Braydon growled and pointed his hand towards his car. After eyeing Eddie as walked to the car, Braydon looked down at Leo who was lapping up the blood and cum from his cock. Braydon growled out in ecstasy as the tongue slid back and forth over the shaft and sensitive cock head. Taking Leo's head, he slowly began to face fucking. Leo gagged as the cock hit the back of his throat. Braydon smiled, "Come on, you can take it all!" Leo took out his own cock and started jerking off. Being Latino, Leo was uncut and oozing with precum. Braydon could smell the musk coming from Leo's cock. Braydon licked his lips at the sight, but he didn't want to get dirty so he just watched Leo play with it. Leo played with cock more and more. Leo slowly pulled the skin back exposing his enflamed cock head. Braydon eyed the cock, fucking Leo's mouth more and more. The tension in his dick began sending shivers all throughout his body, the next cum shot was going to be intense. "Fuck, I'm gonna cum!" "FUCK...FUCK...FUCK!" Braydon shouted as he leaned on Leo's shoulders to help support him. Braydon thrusted more, making sure every bit of cum was down in Leo's throat. Tasting the cum and blood from the drug dealer and now the his boss' cum, Leo pointed his cock upwards and blew his load all over his dick. Leo let out a guttural growl and Braydon responded back with his. Reaching down, Braydon coated his fingers with Leo's cum and then slowly licked it off. Blood and cum in his mouth; one as dangerous as the other. "Come here!" Braydon grabbed Leo and forced him to stand. Taking him, Braydon licked Leo's lower chin, licking off the cum that managed to escape from Leo's mouth. Leo opened his mouth and deeply kissed Braydon. Braydon could taste his cum and the blood in Leo's mouth. "Are you fuckin' kidding me? I get the kid cleaned up and you all mess around!" Eddie shouted out. "Don't worry, I'll fuck you when we get back home.!" Braydon hollered back as Leo and him cleaned up and fixed their clothes. Eddie responded with sigh as he walked back to the car. "I hope so!" he answered back. Walking towards the car, Braydon stopped dead in his tracks sniffing the air. He scented another lycan far off in the distance. The scent was faint, meaning the other werewolf was miles away. "What is it boss?" Leo asked. "It's nothing---let's go!" Walking back to the car, Eddied opened the door to the back seat and let Braydon in. Leo sat upfront in the passenger's seat. Shutting the door, Eddied got in the driver's side and drove away. Seeing the young dealer by his side, coming in and out of consciousness, Braydon smiled. Soon he will have enough members to rival any pack! ****************************************************************************** Also that same night, Lucas, Melania, Marco and the rest of Martin's pack, sat in the dining room all awaiting for Martin to enter. Melania and Marco sat opposite of each as well as Grant and Lucas sitting opposite of each other. Grant spent most of the day meeting various members of the pack, which also consisted of a few humans who were mates to some of the pack members. Most of the chit chat was about his law firm and the business deal he helped close with Martin. He was eager to catch up with the members since he didn't live near the pack anymore. He was please to hear of their business ventures and the going's on with each member and offered them any legal advice. Martin soon entered the dining room and everyone stood. Seeing his pack made him smile and realize what he has was truly a blessing. "Everyone please sit down. Tonight we are going to celebrate and have a great feast!" "What are we having, Taco Bell again?" Lucas asked as he winked and gave a sly smile at Martin. The pack all giggled. "Why yes Lucas. By the way, when you bite into your taco, that is a special kind of sour cream I had one of the cooks put in it---just for you!" Martin replied back. "Ah that sense of humor that no one understands!" Lucas shot back as he winked at Martin. All of the special occasions that are held in the main pack house, are always catered by Martin's catering company; Sear's Catering. Martin started this company with his late human mate, Tim. Tim spent the better part of the first year finding some of the best chefs he could find; one of which came from Brazil. Money was no object and both Martin and Tim made sure their chefs and servers were well compensated. Word got around of the delicious food that was made by the company that Tim launched another Sear's Catering to meet up with the demands. Business was good for Martin and Tim. After Tim's death, Martin had a hard time trying to manage both companies and entertained the idea of selling the other branch, soon he hired a great chef from Mexico, Paco Dias, to handle all of the business dealings. "So tonight we celebrate the closing of one of the biggest ventures that I am really proud of. Most of you know that I wanted to venture into the real estate market, but never knew how to go about it. So after getting my broker's license, I thought about opening my own business from the ground up. But after losing Tim, I didn't have the strength to do it and I came close to giving up on this dream. It wasn't until 2 months ago, a colleague of mine who is friends with Lisa Haven, told me about her wanting to sell Smith's Realty. I got in contact with her and then soon after I made her an offer and she accepted." The pack members all applauded. Martin smiled and lifted up his champagne glass, "A toast, not only to Lisa for selling it, but also for me for buying and looking dashing in the process!" Most of the pack huffed and Lucas coughed out the word lame. Martin held in his laughter but soon let it out. "Ok, seriously, I really want to give a toast to Lisa, for selling Smith's Realty to me at a time when I needed something different. May we have many successful business dealings for all years to come!" Everyone lifted their glasses and sipped their champagne. While waiting for the food to be served, everyone chatted amongst each other. Usually, Martin tries to have a huge pack meeting every few months to see what is going on with the pack members. Since most didn't live nearby, he wanted to catch up with everyone: what they were doing, what is going on at their jobs, family life, new members, typical stuff an alpha deals with. He truly loved everyone in his pack and everyone loved him back. They were there for him when Tim died and he was there for them when they needed them. He also loved the human mates to his pack for accepting their lycanthropy and loving them no matter what. Martin sighed until he felt a little kick from under the table. "Earth to Martin." Melania joked. "Sorry. I guess I spaced out for a second." "What's on your mind Martin?" asked Grant. "Nothing much, just thinking." Martin smiled. "Speaking of which what is going on with you? You were in a very good mood at the meeting, haven't seen you like that in a good while." "It was a interesting day." Grant answered back with a grin on his face. "How so?" "Well I when I got into town, I was talking to my colleague and we finally reached a settlement on a big case we were working on. Then I went to lunch after I met someone who I recognized as my mate!" "What?!" Martin said nearly choking on the water he was drinking. Composing himself, Martin focused his attention on the bachelor. "You found a mate- here in town?" "I know, hard to believe a small town like this I would find someone. Right after I talked to my colleague this scent just hit me hard and saw this man walking towards the post office. I got out and introduced myself. He is totally the one; handsome, young, and successful." "Who is it?" Martin asked. He was shocked with the whole idea of Grant finding someone. "It's Calen." "Who?" Martin asked again making sure he heard right. "Calen.......Ortiz. He works for you now at Smith's." Martin looked at Lucas and then back at Grant. "Are you sure?" Martin asked. This was the first time he has heard of 2 werewolves recognizing the same person as their mate. "Yes I'm sure! Why do you ask Martin? What is it?" "Grant, Calen can not be your mate!" "Why the hell not? My inner wolf recognizes him as my mate." Grant said sternly wanting to know why Martin is questioning his mate selection. "Because he belongs to Lucas." Martin replied back seeing the anger in Grant grow. Grant looked at Lucas and could not believe what Martin just said. He could not process it. "LUCAS! Why does he get him?!" Grant said loudly as he stood up from his chair, causing the rest of the pack to look in his direction. "Watch your tone with me!" Martin said as he rose from his seat and ready to put Grant in his place. Grant sat back down just eyeing down Lucas. His gaze went back to his alpha. "Why does he belong to Lucas? I saw him first!" Grant demanded. "You're wrong." Lucas said softly. "What?" Grant asked looking at Lucas. "You did not see him first Grant- I did!" Lucas said in a calm manner. Melania's heart began to pound faster in her chest. Her husband Marko put his hand on her lap to ease her. "That's bullshit! When did you see him first? You were at the office already and he wasn't even there yet?" Grant growled out. He knew the pack was looking at him, but he didn't give a damn. He wanted Calen! "You're right, I didn't see him at the meeting until he showed up late, but he and I met way before you ever met him." Martin stood up from his chair and asked Lucas, Grant, Melania, and Marko to head over to his office. Things needed to be sorted out now and not in the company of others. As they walked into Martin's office, Martin shut the door behind him and took his place behind his desk. He asked Lucas and Grant to sit down. Lucas took his seat while Grant grabbed his chair and pulled it farther away from Lucas. Martin took out his cell phone and called one of the elder pack members and insisted that he and his wife head to the house. He gave no explanation as to why for the urgent meeting, but asked if they could come over quickly. Putting his cell phone down on his desk, he looked at Grant and Lucas. Grant, with the look of anger on his face, looked towards Lucas. Lucas didn't make any kind of eye contact. His inner wolf was running wild inside of him. He wanted to attack Grant for laying claim on Calen, but his human side kept him composed. Grant's inner wolf was running wild inside of him too; running around in circles not knowing what to do. Part of him wanted to rip Lucas' throat out, but another part of him didn't want to hurt someone who he saw as a little brother. But he felt betrayed not only by Lucas, but by Martin. Martin sat at his desk and clasped his hands together. Martin once again looked at his 2 dearest pack members and sighed heavily. "Well?" Grant asked, breaking the silence in the room. "Joseph and his wife Susan are headed here and will know what to with this situation." Martin replied. "Fuck." Grant said under his breath. He wanted things to be sorted out now. He wanted to leave and take Calen with him. Calen was perfect for him. He is basically running a business and thought that along side him, they would be a great power couple. "As your alpha, its not my place to tell someone who they can or can not be with. If your inner wolf recognizes someone as your mate then so be it. And as your alpha I can't keep you from your true love, but I do have the power to accept or deny them to the pack if I feel that they will be a liability to us. That's the extent of my power. I have never in my life ever heard of 2 lycans recognizing the same person as their mate. That is the reason why I called Joseph. He will have the answer...hopefully!" Grant slouched in his char and looked away. Lucas finally looked over to Grant and knew his pain. He knew what it felt like to have someone then have them get ripped away. But Calen was his and if need be, will fight Grant for him. "Lucas, I think you should tell Grant about you and Calen. Maybe it will help sort things out." Melania suggested. "Yes! Grant you need to hear this. I know it won't make it any easier but it will explain everything." Martin said, agreeing to Melania. Grant sat up straight and looked at Lucas. He could sense his nervousness but wanted an explanation as to why he couldn't have Calen. Facing Grant, Lucas began telling him everything that happened the last decade. Slowly, Grant began feeling defeated with each word that came out of Lucas' mouth. Calen was slipping away from him. After what seemed like hours, Joseph and Susan were soon escorted to Martin's office. Both elders greeted everyone in the room and could feel the tension in it. "I'm glad that the both of you were able to come on short notice, but our situation is rare and maybe you can help us." Martin said as he sat back down at his desk. "I sense it's something of great importance. The tension here is thick, what is the problem?" Joseph asked. "Well our situation deals with mates. Both Lucas and Grant have fallen in love with the same man and both recognize him as their mate. I have never heard of two lycans falling for the same person. We really need to sort this thing out." explained Martin. "I see. It's not an uncommon ordeal. It is very rare, but not uncommon." Joseph said as he nodded his head. Susan, his wife, was not a werewolf but a white witch could sense his love for the young man was pure. She turned her gaze over to Grant and sensed greed, power and position. She felt love too, but it was of not a priority for him. "When was the last time something like this happened Joseph?" Lucas asked. "Over fifty years ago. Two brothers from the same pack fell for the same young girl. They were from the same pack. They both loved her and both were willing to do anything for her. After many confrontation between the two, their own father who was alpha, made them fight for the young woman until one of them died." "Their own father made them do that?" Martin asked. "Yes. His hope would be that maybe they wouldn't fight for her and forget about her. He even wanted to have her killed. But no matter what, the brothers both loved her and would do anything. So they fought." Joseph said. "Then what happened?" asked Melania, fearing the worse. "A long battle was fought between the brothers. Each trying to weaken the other into submission. What little sanity they had left, kept them from killing each other." "So they didn't fight to the death?" Martin asked. "No. The instinct was there to do so, but the victor could not do that to his own brother. However, fighting to the death is the more acceptable. But the decision was made for the loser to leave not only the pack, but the town as well." Lucas heard this and breathed in deeply. He didn't want to fight Grant, much less kill him, but if it came to it, then he would do so. Grant didn't want to fight either, but he wanted Calen for himself. Melania grew even more nervous. She remembered when Lucas first told her about Grant and Calen. She knew something like this was going to happen and didn't want to hear what was going to happen. She excused herself and went to the living room. On her way out she told her husband Marko to stay just incase anything happened. Found Ch. 07 "Joseph I do not want these two fighting at all. I love them as if they were my own brothers! I cannot let them fight to the death." declared Martin. "You seeked my council and I have given it. It is the only way to resolve this problem; or have one of them leave the pack for good." "What happened to the brother who had to leave?" Martin asked, hoping to find some other resolution. Looking at Martin, Joseph replied as he held onto Susan's hand, "My brother lives in Montana; Red Lodge to be exact." Joseph said. He and his brother Daniel were the closest of brothers when they were younger. Never in their lives would they thought someone could ever become between them. But Joseph proved to be the stronger of the two and was able to claim Susan as his mate. It was declared that Daniel would move to Red Lodge with some other werewolves who were outcasts. After he left, Joseph seized all contact with his older brother. Martin looked at the two men in front of him. He has known both of them since they were younger and saw them grow up and become the men they are now. To have one leave or worse, die played in his mind. Has it really come down to this? "Is there some way, some spell, potion that Grant can take to make him forget about Calen?" asked Martin. "Of course there isn't! If there was, don't you think I would have my brother here with me now." Joseph answered back sharply. "This is fucking ridiculous! A spell to make me forget Calen! I cannot believe I'm hearing this Martin!" Grant shouted out in anger and frustration. "Mind your tone with me Grant! I am your alpha and you show me respect!" Martin shouted back at Grant. "Yes if there was such a thing you would have to take it!" Lucas looked over at Grant. He saw the anger and frustration in his face. How could he blame him? They were forbidding him to claim Calen. "Grant, I love you as if your were my own blood brother and I'd do anything for you, but Calen is mine and I will do whatever it takes to show that he belongs to me. I will NOT give him up!" Lucas stood up and met with Grant face to face. Martin's inner wolf was on alert as he thought the two lycans were going to fight. "Luke, I will not fight you to the death. I have too much to lose regardless if I win or lose. But I can't stand the fact that you get Calen. Look at me, I am rich, have a successful law firm, I can offer him so much." Grant said arrogantly. That was downfall of Grant. He thought too highly of himself and felt he deserved things because of who he is. "I am not rich, but I can offer Calen true love. I don't see him as a prize or something to show off Grant. He is not an object." Lucas said back to him. Grant walked up to Joseph and demanded WHY Lucas. "I have told you already, and your alpha has told you already. What else do you want me to say?" "Lucas you had your chance years ago to get him but you didn't. You stayed away." "I told you already why Grant. I was sent on that search party to find that asshole Braydon. I couldn't just leave in the middle of the search. I had orders from my alpha and I went and did what I was told. When I did go back a few weeks later, he was gone. I didn't know where he went." "So in that time you were with him, he never talked to you? He never said anything? So he just treated you like a house dog. For his future mate, you are sure doing a fucked up job!" Grant said back to Lucas, wanting to make him feel worse about the fact he lost Calen. "He didn't tell me anything. We just stayed together and walked around his ranch. He would talk to me, but wouldn't go in-depth. He took care of me when I was injured and made sure no humans saw me. I was a fucking wolf!" Lucas said back heatedly. "But I knew that I couldn't stay with him forever. I knew Martin and the rest of the pack was worried enough as it is. Like I said before, I did my duty as a pack member, something you don't know all too much about!" "What the fuck is that suppose to mean Lucas?" "I didn't leave the pack and act as if we didn't exist." Lucas answered back. "I left to start a new life! Remember, I even asked you to come with me. And what do you mean I acted like you all didn't exist?" "How many times a year did we see you: once a month, once every four months, once a year... "Enough!" Martin interrupted. "I will not have this in my house or anywhere else. Lucas, grant, I love you two, but I will not have you fight over Calen. I know he is special to both of you, but not enough to have you fight to the death. I will not allow it!" Martin stood from up form his desk and walked towards the feuding pack members. His heart was aching inside and knew he was to blame. Whatever the outcome of this situation will be, he would not like. "So, what shall it be?" Joseph asked. "Fuck this! I'm going to get my things and get out of here. This isn't worth it!" Grant grabbed his coat and stormed to the front door. "Oh Lucas, it won't be a month or another year until you see me, it will be NEVER!" With that, Grant looked straight at Lucas and then slammed the door shut. "Grant!" Martin shouted out. "Leave him be Martin, he has made his choice." Joseph said as he stood up. Melania entered the room after hearing all the commotion going on. "What's going on? Where did Grant go?" "He's leaving." Marco answered. "What?" "He said it wasn't worth fighting, so he left." Lucas answered. That was it, after all these years he gains Calen, but loses Grant. Deep down he wished Grant wouldn't have left the way he did, but at the same time he felt no regret with what happened. "So he is just going to leave--just like that?" Melania asked Martin. "Its his choice Melania. We cannot have any internal struggle with the pack. Yes, Grant is leaving like that and won't be back." A lump formed in Martin's throat. He hadn't seen Grant for a couple of years and now its going to be permanent. "This is the way it has to be young one. I know it hurts but you will have to find it in yourself to move on." Joseph said as he looked at Melania. Just then, Grant's car screeched out of the drive way. There was a few seconds of silence. It was done, Grant is gone. "Well, it is what it is. We cannot leave our guests waiting in the dining room.. They came to celebrate and I am sure they will want to know what just went on. Joseph and Susan, I insist you two stay for dinner. I wont take no for an answer." "Thank you Martin, we appreciate it." Joseph replied back. As everyone exited Martin's office, Lucas still remained seated. The shock of it all was just overwhelming. Grant was gone--for good. Martin looked back to see Lucas still sitting. He walked over to Lucas and knelt down. "Look I know this has been rough. I know you're hurting, but I would rather have Grant leave then have you two fight until one gets killed. My heart and soul wouldn't be able to handle that." "I know and you're right. But I can't believe it happened though." "It happens, but you have to let it go and just go forward. You don't have to worry about Grant trying to get Calen anymore and you can continue to court him!" "Court? Did you just say court? Who the hell says 'court' anymore?" Lucas said, forcing out a smile. Martin smiled back and shook his head. "Keep that smile Lucas, its going to win Calen over!" Thanks Martin. Ok. I'm hungry--let's go eat!" "Let's go!" Martin said back. Lucas rose from his chair and headed straight to the door. "FLAT TIRE!" "HEY!" Lucas shouted as Martin stepped on the heel of his shoe causing him to stumble. Martin pushed past and ran. "I swear--one day you old fart!" *************************************************** The next morning, Calen woke up and made an early breakfast for Natalie and him. He wanted to know all about her date with William, so he decided to butter her up with her favorite breakfast--eggs done sunny side up on buttered toast smothered with picante sause and fresh brewed coffee. The aroma of the food filled the whole house. Enough to wake Natalie wake up. Grabbing her robe she headed to Miggy's room to see if he was awake but saw he was still asleep. Stopping midway down the hall, she remembered the feeling she had when she saw Calen last night as he shut the door to his room. She still didn't know what it meant or as to why she felt that way. Not knowing what it all meant, she shrugged it off and headed to the kitchen. "Morning Nat!" "Morning. Something smells real good!" "Well that could be the fresh pot of hot coffee, or the toast, or the eggs done sunny side up." Calen said as he fixed her a plate. "Did you make this for me?" "Of course I did." Putting the plate in front of her, Natalie took in the aroma of the food. As heavenly as it is, something was missing. Knowing her all to well, Calen walked over and put a table spoon of picante sauce on each egg. Now she was ready to eat. "Are you going to have any?" Natalie asked as she took a sip of her coffee. "Yeah, I'm serving myself now." Calen brought his plate over to the table and sat across from Natalie. Seeing her enjoying her breakfast, he knew the date last night went well. But as the best friend, he wanted to know the details. "So how was the date?" "It was great! We went to the movies, but it was closed. So we drove to the town square since they were having that jazz band there. We walked around for a little bit and then danced." "Dancing huh. Sounds romantic!" "It was. They played one of your favorite songs; Moonlight Serenade." "They did?" Calen asked. "Yup. William asked me if I liked the moonlight. I told him that I did and said that you did too and how you like riding your horses when the moon is out." "Cool. Sounds like you had a great time." "I did. It was weird at first, not in a bad way, but just weird. I never saw myself dating anyone after Mitchell, and now here is this new guy that I..." Natalie paused for a second. "And..." Calen responded back, trying to encourage her to continue. "And I think I'm falling for him." Natalie said back. "You are?" "I think so. I mean, the kiss didn't help matters..." "YOU KISSED HIM?!" Natalie sighed and blushed a little bit. "Yes. Well he kissed me first, but I didn't pull away. I don't know what it was, but that kiss was something I needed." "Well maybe it helped you to move on. To realize that it is 'OK' to kiss someone and that its 'OK' to fall in love again." Calen said. Natalie nodded her head in agreement. Calen was right. She knew that if the tables were turned, she would want Mitchell to move on with his life and find someone who would make him happy. "Maybe you're right." "But then again you are talking to someone who is the king of shitty relationships so who knows if I'm right or not." Calen giggled as did Natalie. They both knew he was right about the kiss. "Just let things happen as they should." After finishing breakfast, Natalie tended to Miggy, getting his diaper changed, dressed, and fed. Calen set about his morning finishing up some paperwork and getting ready to run some errands with Natalie. Since it was Saturday, both had the day off and planned to spend the day shopping. Something Calen didn't like doing. Natalie being the girly girl that she is, loved shopping. Calen on the other hand, would rather get his teeth pulled without anesthesia. Still, he got himself ready and went to see muggy at his play pen. "Cal, I'm gonna jump into the shower real quick." "Ok Nat." "Come on Mig, let's go watch some cartoons." Taking Miggy to the living room, Calen sat on the recliner and turned the TV on. Flipping through the channels, he soon came upon Tom & Jerry. Miggy began clapping his hands and bouncing on Calen's lap. "You like that huh? I grew up watching this cartoon." "Don't bounce too much, you are gonna end up puking all over me and I don't want to change clothes." Hearing a knock at the door, Calen slowly got up and put Miggy in his play pen and headed towards the front door. He wasn't expecting anyone and thought maybe it might be William stopping by to see Natalie. After opening the door, he was surely surprised. "Hey Lucas!" "Hi Calen. I hope I didn't catch you at a bad time?" "No you didn't. Come in." A wave of heat surged through Calen's face. Why is this happening every time I am near Lucas? he thought. Walking over to the living room, Lucas tried real hard not to stare at Calen. The drive there was hard enough as it is and now he was in Calen's home. His inner wolf paced impatiently as he followed Calen. "Want some coffee?" "Sure?" "Do you take it with milk and sugar or black?" "Just black would be fine." Calen smiled then headed towards the kitchen. Lucas walked over to Miggy's play pen and knelt down to see him. "Hey buddy, you watchin' some cartoons?" Miggy responded with a laugh and a small fart. "He always does that!" Calen said as he walked back into the living room, handing Lucas his cup of coffee. "He is a cute kid." Lucas said as he took sip of his coffee. As he put the mug closer to his lips, he could smell the faint scent of Calen on the cup. He could smell where his lips had touched the mug, even after its many washings. He turned the mug and placed his lips where Calen's lips once touched. His inner wolf was satisfied; for the moment. "Listen, I hope you don't mind me coming over so early, but I wanted to invite you and Natalie to a bar-b-que later on today." "Where at?" "At Martin's house. He wants to have a get together with the whole staff." "Cool. At what time?" "4 o'clock. I'm on my way to the supermarket to get all the meat and stuff that we need. So I decided to stop here on my way there instead of calling you." "That's nice of you, but you do realize the supermarket is on the other side of town." Calen said with a smile. "Well I took the scenic route!" "Uh huh." Both men smiled and laughed. Seeing Calen's smile brought back memories of when he first saw him. It was the first thing he saw when he came too after going unconscious in Calen's arms. The urge to throw Calen down and kiss him was strong. He needed to feel those lips. Stay calm he thought. After a few minutes of just standing there in almost utter silence, Natalie headed towards the living room after taking her shower. She overheard Calen talking to someone and instantly recognized Lucas' voice. "Hey Lucas." "Morning Natalie." "What brings you to our neck of the woods?" "He decided to take a tour of our town." Calen said as he smiled at Lucas. Lucas smiled back and responded, "We're having a cookout later on today at Martin's and came by to invite you and Calen." "Sounds like fun. Haven't been to a cookout in a while." "So I take it I will see you at Martin's?" Lucas asked nervously. "Yeah we will be there. We gotta do some errands and other stuff but we will be there." Natalie answered back. Calen's face turned red. "Great! I will see you two in a few hours." Lucas said as he handed his coffee mug to Calen. For a brief moment, he looked into Calen's eyes. He longed to just stare into them. When the time is right, he will have his chance to do so. "Well I better get going. I don't want to keep you two from your errands and Martin will chew my leg off if I don't get the meat to him on time." Walking towards the door, Lucas turned and said bye to Calen and Natalie. As he drove off, Calen closed the door and headed towards the living room with Natalie and Miggy. "That was nice of him to drop by and invite us." Natalie said as she picked up Miggy from his play pen. "Yeah it was." "What time did he get here?" " I don't know. I guess when started to take your shower." "And you didn't ask him to sit...CALEN!" "What?!" Calen said back shrugging his shoulders. "You could of offered him to have a seat and not just stand there the whole time!" "Well it didn't cross my mind. When I saw him at the door my mind went all blank." "Uh huh." "Don't 'uh huh' me Nat!" "Sounds to me like you have a crush on Lucas." "WHAT?! You are out of your mind Natalie! I don't have a crush on him!" Natalie looked at Calen as if he was guilty. Calen turned red and looked away. "You know I don't do crushes. And even if I did, I don't know if he is gay or not. Plus I don't want any kind of relationship. AND even if I DID have a crush on him, we work together and I don't do office romances." "I know, I was just teasing you. But you have to snap out of that mind set. Its not healthy.' "Are we going to talk about my love life or do you want to go shopping?" Calen asked sarcastically. Natalie breathed in and sighed. "Let me go get Miggy." Calen grabbed his keys and waited for Natalie. He kept telling himself that he has no crush on Lucas and has no desire to date him or anyone else. Anyways, how could he have a crush on Lucas. He has known the man for a few days only. Yes, Lucas was attractive, nicely built, good personality, and an overall nice guy, but so was his ex boyfriend, Charlie. Charlie cheated on Calen left and right and lied to him constantly. Naturally he couldn't compare both of them to each other, but what he went through with Charlie, and his two previous bad relationships, he couldn't help but not trust anyone. Even if he tried a new relationship how could it last when one half has no trust in the other? The trio headed out the door to Calen's truck. Natalie buckled Miggy into his car seat and then shut the door. Calen opened the driver's side door and was about to get in when something caught his attention. "Do you smell that?" "What?" Natalie asked as she got into the truck. Sniffing the air, Calen tried to figure out what that scent was. "It smells sweet or something. You can't smell it?" Natalie got out and sniffed the air. She couldn't smell anything. "No I can't smell anything Calen." Calen shrugged it off and both got into the truck. ********************************************************************** Later that day, Melania's husband Marco fired up the grill that was in the back yard of Martin's house. People were scheduled to arrive in about an hour, so it left just enough time for Melania, Marco, Martin and a few others from the pack to set out chairs and tables and finish off the food. Martin didn't have his catering company out this time. He wanted it to be a small affair with the staff members and didn't want it to feel impersonal. "Did you take the steaks out?" Marco hollered to Melania who was in the kitchen finishing the side dishes. "What?!" She hollered back. "The steaks--did you take them out of the fridge? They need to get to room temp." "Yes baby, I took them out a few minutes ago. Do you want something to drink?" "Bring me a beer please." Melania went out and gave her husband a beer and a kiss on the cheek before she headed back into the kitchen. Lucas and Martin went out to get the ice and last minute items for the cookout. On their way back home, both stayed relatively quiet. The blow up from the night before played heavily on their minds. But there was nothing they could do about it. On top of that William told Martin of the scent of werewolves that he didn't recognize. Martin and the surrounding packs were on high alert. New through the grapevine is that Braydon had turned another innocent human into a lycan. A full moon was approaching and the scent of a newly turned werewolf was strong. "So did you call Natalie and Calen?" Martin asked trying to break the silence. "No. I went by their house instead." "You did? must have been some drive. Was it hard to find?" "Naw. William gave me the directions, but as soon as I pulled into the dirt road, I was able to smell Calen's scent. So it was easy to find it." Found Ch. 07 "What time did you get that?" "A little bit before 9 a.m." "They were awake I hope." "Yes they were. They were going to run some errands, but Calen said they would be here." Not missing a chance to tease, Martin took his chance, "So Calen didn't have to get a restraining order on you yet?" "Not yet, but they might have to set out a search party for you! Imagine finding a piece of you here and there and everywhere!" Lucas said back sarcastically. "So many pieces, so little time!" Martin shot back. "Just drive old man!" Lucas said as he giggled and shook his head. Martin wasn't old at all. He was 43 years old but looked like he should be in his 30s. Lucas just called him old because he was the oldest pack member. "I am driving!" After arriving back to Martin's house, people were starting to show up. Lucas sat up in his seat and looked around to see if he could spot Calen. He looked around to see if he could find Calen's truck, but didn't. He quickly unbuckled his seat belt and quickly opened the door and slammed it. Obviously annoyed, he wanted Calen here already. It was almost 4 o'clock. "Calm down, he will be here soon Luke." Both men walked towards the back of the house where everyone was. Lucas looked around, but no Calen. He figured as much since he didn't smell his scent. Just then, he felt some hands on his shoulders. Turning around he saw that it was William. "What's up man?" William asked. "Nothing much, just came back from getting ice with Martin. How are you doing?" Lucas asked as he hugged William. "Doing good. I had a few patients to see today and then took the rest of the day off." "Speaking of which, how was your date with her?" "It went good. We had dinner and then we went to listen to a jazz band and danced a little bit." William smiled as he answered Lucas. He had spent the whole night thinking of her after he had dropped her off. The way she looked, the way she was dressed, the way she smelled. William couldn't take his mind off of her. Before he knew it, it was almost 5 a.m. and he needed to be at work in 4 hours. "Nice!" Lucas said back to him, stilling looking around to see if Calen had shown up. "Who are you looking for?" William asked. "Calen. He said he was coming but he isn't here yet." "Well aren't you all giddy! I just talked to Natalie and they are on their way." "I wish they would get here already." "Aww look at you getting all hyper!" William teased. "Shut up!" Lucas blushed. "Are you turning red? Is Lucas Jarreau blushing right before my eyes?" "Yes dammit, I can't help it!" Lucas smiled and gently pushed William. The last few years Lucas and William got real close. When William first joined the back, he was fresh out of college and on his way to Medical school. It was Lucas who showed him the ways of the pack. William was a natural born lycan, such as Lucas, but where he used to live, no one else was like him. It was a tough life for him. His parents didn't know what to make of their lycan son. They themselves weren't lycans and there hadn't been any for many generations. After doing research, William found out that his great great great great great grand father fell in love and married a female lycan. After marrying her, they had four children. None of which had the lycan trait. Because of that, the generations after thought it had disappeared. It wasn't until William turned 13 that he went through his first change. With no guidance from anyone, his parents did whatever they could to help. After meeting with Lucas at a college party, he invited William to join the pack with the permission of Martin. Ever since, they have been like brothers. "Just chill out bro. If Calen said they were coming then they are coming." "Easier said than done Big Willy!" "I told you not to call me that!" William said as he gently shoved Lucas back. Martin came out with Melania and Nisa, a female lycan, and her husband Eric who was also a lycan. They brought out the meat and some snacks for everyone to munch on as the food gets cooked. Lucas and William headed over to them when something caught Lucas' senses. Stopping dead in his tracks, Lucas turned around and let out a low guttural growl. "They're coming." William turned around and sniffed the air, he could smell Natalie's scent--they were less than a quarter mile away. "See, they would of shown up eventually!" William said to Lucas. Seeing Calen's truck approach, Lucas and William walk towards them. Already, William could see Natalie smiling in his direction. Calen simply nodded and gave a faint smile to Lucas. For a brief second, Lucas almost forgot about his ordeal with Calen and came close to running up towards him and hugging him. His only saving grace was hearing William say "easy" that helped him snap back into reality. "Glad you guys made it!" Lucas said as he greeted Calen with a handshake. "Sorry it took us long. We stopped to drop off Miggy at Natalie's parents and then we went to the mall. And as always Natalie lost herself in there." Calen said jokingly. "They were having sales!" She fired back. All four headed towards the congregation of people. William put his arm around Natalie's shoulders and she put hers around his waist. Lucas looked over and wished he could do the same with Calen. "Have they been here long?" Natalie asked. "About half an hour more or less." Lucas answered back. "And you?" Natalie asked William. "Just 15 minutes ago. I had a few patients to see this morning and had to admit one to the hospital." "Aw, I hope the kid is alright." Calen said. "He will be. He needs to have his tonsils removed." Natalie and Calen greeted everyone at the cook out. Lucas and William both introduced them to the other pack members. "CALEN-NATALIE!" Both turned around to see who it was. It was Lisa. Both gave her a hug and congratulated her on her new grandson. "How have you all been?" "We have been good." Answered Natalie. "That is great to hear. Sorry if I seem a little excited!" "Oh don't be sorry, you have every right to be excited!" Calen said. "Look, I have a couple of pictures of him already." All four of them followed Lisa to where she had her purse. She took out a small photo album and handed them over to Natalie and Calen. "He is so precious!" Natalie said as she flipped through the pictures of Trent Thompson. "Makes me want to have another." "Just as long as they don't spit up on me I am fine!" Everyone laughed. Calen loves kids. He has a few nieces and nephews of his own and loves spending time with them when he can. "I just stopped by real quick to greet everyone and say 'hi'. But I am going back to see my grandbaby!" "Already spoiling him I bet." Calen said. "Sure am. That's what grannies are for!" Lisa said with a huge smile on her face. After excusing herself, she went up to Martin and said her goodbye to him and soon left the party. "She is really excited huh?" William asked. "You should of seen her when she found out her daughter was pregnant. She brought in balloons and doughnuts for everyone. She was humming like crazy." said Calen. Seeing everyone at the cookout was a nice change from spending 4 hours at the mall with Natalie. He hadn't been to a cookout in awhile. Calen's dad used to have them every Saturday for year, but stopped having them after his grandfather died. Soon after, the family troubles began. Calen shook his head to make the memories stop. "Hey guys you are just in time!" Martin said, standing next to Marco who was cooking the meat. "The steaks are almost done. How do you like them?" "We both take them medium." Natalie answered back. Most of the pack liked them the same too. Some, if not most, would think they are them raw, but it wasn't usually the case. Lycans do like the taste of raw meat, but that doesn't mean they don't appreciate a good steak hot off the grill. They are half human after all. Melania came out from the kitchen holding a tray filled with baked potatoes. Setting them down, she greeted Natalie and Calen and asked them what they liked on them. "Do you have any Italian dressing Melania?" I like to put some on mine." Calen asked. "We sure do. I will go and get it with the other dressings for the salad." "No, I'll go and get it Mel. You have been on your feet long enough." Lucas said as he darted towards the kitchen. "Thanks sweety." "So how was your alls day?" Melania asked as she dug around the ice chest to hand Nat and Calen some sodas. She, too, was excited to see Calen at the cook out. Ever since the meeting, Lucas has done nothing but talk about him. Shew as glad that the ordeal between Grant and her brother was settled and didn't have to worry about anything bad happening. "Its been good. I took Natalie to her parent's house to drop off Miguel and then we did some errands and went to the mall afterwards." "Sounds like fun." "It was! They had tons of sales and a new boutique opened up." Natalie said. "We were there for four hours and came away with two small bags." Moaned Calen. "Well, that's what girls do Calen! We browse and browse for hours and sometimes only a couple of things will be bought. Natalie, we should go shopping next time." "We totally should Melania! How about next week?" "It sounds good to me." "Yes, please take her. I'll even give you money to do so!" Calen said pleading, teasing his best friend. "Shush you!" Natalie said back and she playfully pushed Calen. "Ok here are the salad dressings. And here is the Italian dressing you wanted Calen." "You expect him to hold onto it until the food comes out?" William teased. "Uh..." Lucas muttered out. Calen smiled. Martin called everyone to stand in line. The steaks were done and everything else was ready. William held his and Natalie's plate while they were being served. Calen stood in front of Lucas. There was that faint smell again. He looked around but couldn't place where it was coming from. As quick as the scent came, it left. Lucas breathed in as he stood behind Calen; his scent so strong and so sweet. He wanted to run his fingers through the back of Calen's hair and just breath in deeply. He wanted to touch him badly. Every part of his body was aching and longing to have Calen close to him. He wanted to grab him from behind and just kiss him on the side of the neck. Just to leave a mark on him to claim Calen as his. But he couldn't, not now. "Are you going to stand there Luke or do you want me to serve you some food?" Nisa asked trying to snap Lucas out of his daze. "Huh...oh sorry." Lucas said as he walked up to her and held his plate out to be served. Calen looked back to see him and smiled. Lucas smiled back . "This food smells wonderful!" Natalie said as she took a whiff of the food. "It really does." Calen added as he took a bite from his steak. "The steak is real good too. What kind of marinade did you use?" "Marco marinated them in Worcestershire sauce and just seasoned them with salt and pepper." Lucas said, taking a bite from his fork. "Really, just Worcestershire, salt and pepper?" Calen asked. "Yup. The sauce really tenderizes the meat better than anything else. Gives it a lot of flavor and makes it real tender to cut." "I would have never thought of that. My dad used to use Italian dressing on our steaks as a marinade. It tastes good that way too, but by far, this is the best steak I have eaten in a good while." Calen said as he took another bite. Calen loved the way his dad grilled. He would always help him out by preparing the meat, cutting the firewood and help turning the meat on the grill. "Speaking of which, I've never heard people putting Italian dressing on their baked potatoes before." William said to Calen as he watched him put a glob of dressing on his potato. "I like the way it tastes. Sometimes I will cut the potato in half and scoop out the insides. Then mix it with heavy cream, butter, salt and pepper and the dressing and put them back into the potato skins. Then finish it off with some parsley." Calen explained. Lucas jumped on the chance to get those things for Calen, however Calen politely declined but thanked him anyway. Natalie smiled and continued with her food. "So the lake house you are working on with Lucas, have you gotten any offers for it yet?" William asked. "So far nothing yet. But I've gotten some calls on when the renovations are going to start and more or less how long its going to take. They're interested but they know me and they wont make any offers until I see fit." "Ah I see. So they just call, get the info and then call back to see if its ready for an offer?" "Pretty much. I don't take any kind of offers until we have done at least a weeks worth of work. I've had people try to buy houses from me after a day or two of the company owning it." "Really? That sounds normal." William asked wanting to know more. "They think if they buy the house that early on, they will be able to save money if they bypass a company like us to try to do it themselves. Granted, they might know what they are doing, but we have to get permits and sometimes owners don't get them and that's where they start running into trouble." "Like what?" "Well permits can be costly, and when a new home buyer or someone who doesn't have experience flipping homes, can get into a lot of trouble if they don't get them. Not only that, the permits allow us to know what major things need to get fixed and working properly. That's where the city and state come in. They inspect and if everything is clear, we can keep on going. If not, we have to fix it right away. That takes time and money and some don't have the means to do that. So they patch things up without having an inspector look first. In the long run, that depreciates the value of the home. Not to mention the costs of repairs that could have been avoided and now they have this huge problem. I have seen it many, many times." "You have good points there." William asked, impressed with Calen's knowledge. He liked Calen's business side; stern and responsible. "Plus I like my commissions." Calen said with a laugh. "Damn right!" Natalie added in. "When do you all start?" "Monday morning." The rest of the conversation consisted of the real estate market. William knew a few doctors who were looking into buying homes out in rural areas and offered to help Calen and Natalie with any leads. When everyone was done with their meal, Martin stood up and thanked everyone for showing up. "I wanted to have this little gathering to establish not only a working relationship, but a friendship as well. I hope that every month we are able to have get togethers like this!" After everyone applauded, Martin, Lucas, Marco, Nisa and her husband Eric, went inside the house only to return with plates of brownies and a couple of tubs of vanilla ice cream. Once again everyone stood up and waited in line. Lucas stood behind Calen again. That strong urge to touch Calen was there again. Just a touch, a small one was all he needed for now. As they walked back to their table, Lucas flashed a small smile at Calen. Calen smiled back and turned his head. Right before reaching their tables, Calen stumbled over his own feet and tripped, causing him to drop his dessert plate. Lucas grabbed Calen by the arm and kept him from falling down. "I've got you." Lucas said. He wanted his small touch and now he has it. He began wondering if it was his fault for Calen's clumsiness. Either way, he wasn't going to complain. "What the..." Calen said, trying to recover his balance. "This is getting pitiful! Thank you Lucas." Calen's face turned red with embarrassment. Almost everyone was looking in his direction. This was the third time he has done something stupid in front of Lucas.. What was happening? He didn't understand his clumsiness. Natalie saw the whole thing from her seat. She knew why Calen was acting like this, but she wasn't going to bring it up here. "Let me go get you another one Calen." Lucas offered. "No, its ok. I can go get it." Calen managed to mumble out. "Go sit. I want you to at least taste the dessert before you drop it." Realizing what he said might offend Calen, he smiled and was surprised to see Calen smile back. "You ok Cal?" Natalie asked. "Yeah I'm alright. Just my damn pride is all." "You didn't hurt yourself?" William asked. "I'm fine." Lucas returned with another plate, but this time it had two of everything. "Sorry, we ran out of paper plates so I just put everything on mine. I hope that's ok? If not you can have this plate and I'll get a regular one for me." "No, its ok, don't get another dish dirty on my account. We can share the same one." "You sure?" Lucas asked. "Yes." "Ok. Maybe you should scoot in a little bit so that you wont drop anything on yourself." Realizing that again he might of offended Calen, he apologized. Calen smile and said it was OK and knew what he meant. Everyone continued eating their desserts and talking amongst themselves. Martin over saw and over heard everything that went on. These two knuckle heads are made for each other he thought. Martin smiled and shook his head. This is going to be a long road for Lucas.
