The wind was whipping and howling, scattering dead leaves in all directions. The branches on the naked trees waving as the brisk cool air swirled around me. A loud boom of thunder can be heard in the near distance, followed by a steady mist of rain bouncing off all surfaces. I took a look into the sky, squinting as the raindrops became heavier and notice this storm will only intensify; spotting the gray blanket of clouds racing though the light sky. I needed to hurry to the dry confines of my home before I get drenched. I took a left turn to the.only known shortcut; Rivers Edge Cemetery. The rusty gate creaked as I opened it which sent chills down my spine. I hated this place as much as everyone else in my neighborhood. The rumors I heard from when I was a child never left me, now filling my head as I looked at the crumbling tombstones and decaying trees. It was said that on stormy nights, people that trespass into the cemetery never came back out. A mysterious fog or mist could be seen along with the shape of a human like silhouette of someone or something lurking the eerie grounds.. Flickers of light only from which a dancing flame on a candle can create would mysteriously illuminate the dark abandon church, causing it to glow like a jack-o-lantern on Halloween. I walked by the forgotten and neglected graves and got the eerie feeling someone or something was stalking me; maybe watching me. Goosebumps and cold shivers along with the natural chill in the air made it seem more creepier, therefore making the expose flesh on the back of my neck tingle and the hairs to stiffen. I was beginning to get freaked out. I needed to compose myself before I hurt myself from passing out. I sat on one of the dozens of broken and crumbling tombstones and just gazed upon my surroundings. This wasn't my first time here, however as the other people in my town did, I avoided this place like the plague because of the chilling rumors. My eyes scanned the scenery looking for any proof of the rumors, My eyes fix on the old run down church. Its windows boarded and paint peeling. I study the holes in the dark boarded windows looking for any sign of light, and to my relief they remained dark and spooky. My eyes wandered on looking for the heavy fog or mist, the only thing I see is the raindrops falling from the sky. This place looks as lifeless as the bodies buried below. My fears began to evaporate, realizing my mind is playing tricks about being frighten by a bunch of childhood humorous stories that are told around a campfire and sleepovers. I picked up my backpack from the ground brushing the dead dry leaves off and swung it around my shoulder, shaking my head as I let myself believe this nonsense. The rain started to come down a bit heavier so I picked up the pace walking home. My mind was racing with all the thoughts about how I let a bunch of garbage scare me and I wasn't paying attention as I walked with my head down when I suddenly crashed in something, knocking me on my ass to the mud. I looked up into the light fog I haven't noticed and saw a figure I couldn't make out. I squinted through the drizzle and swirling fog but I couldn't make out the silhouette standing above me. It offered out a hand to me. "Sorry," I mumbled feeling embarrassed about my clumsiness, reaching for the strangers hand. "No problem, but you should be more careful. You could've hurt someone or yourself there sonny," He replies pulling me to my feet. The stranger doesn't let my hand go right away but something felt mysterious about it. I took a quick peek at the hand in mine but it looked normal except for a long fingernail on his index finger which I found odd. I quickly shift my gaze to his face, and it frightened me more then I was earlier. The man had red eyes and his pupils were slitted like a cats. His face was pale as the full moon. He has black lips with tiny red stains randomly placed. His hair is a pitch black along with light streaks of gray and white. His lips curled into a smile showing yellow decaying teeth, which also have red stains. "Forgive my matters young lad. My name is Fredrick Von Zepher III and I reside at this residence," The man said in a crackling voice, lifting an arm towards the church, gesturing he lived there. "I welcome all visitors." Fredrick hasn't loosened his grip on my hand. My voice trembles. "Nice to meet you sir, I'm John Timmons." "Well John, since we have been formally acquainted; please care to join me inside?" Fredrick nods with a creepy smile, nodding towards the gloomy church. I gave the man another quick glance over as millions of questions about his appearance came to mind, let alone the unfamiliar accent he spoke. There's no way I was going with this stranger anywhere, even if his morals were good. I pulled my hand from his grasp with a jerk, making eye contact into his unusual eyes that are seemingly hypnotizing my own. "Thank you for your kindness and generosity, but I need to be getting to my home." "Why the rush my boy," Fredrick spoke almost in a whisper never breaking the eye contact we maintained. I didn't want to be rude or anything so speaking in a calm shaky voice, my fear returned with a vengeance. "It's raining; My parents are probably worried; I have a massive amount of homework to accomplish, and please don't take this the wrong way, but I hardly know who you are. Therefore I don't trust you. Besides, if I don't leave now I'll be late for dinner." Fredrick nods, "I understand your concern, but I'd be honored if you join me. I can help thee with homework because I have centuries worth of knowledge. I can put a roof over thee head until this dismal storm passes. If I do anything that makes thee uncomfortable just let me know. Thy can trust me." The moment he mentioned he had a centuries worth of knowledge, the man in front of me became more creepy. His wardrobe captured my attention. It was from like a time way before I was thought of, maybe before my grandparents existence. Fredrick's clothes looked like they were worn by the men in the pictures I've seen of the 1700's, possibly earlier. "Thanks, but no thanks," I once again rejected his invitation. "Maybe I'll see you around," I said walking away from the still stranger. Fredrick grabs my shoulder surprising me, causing me to shake, fearing something bad was about to happen. I'm being kidnapped exploded my thoughts, causing a sense of panic to envelope me. "Thy is making me angry my boy. I'm showering thee with my generous offers, yet thy decline them," Fredrick spoke in almost what sounded like a hiss, gently placing a cold hand on my face and turning my head locking our eyes once again. The chilling expression he wore was getting uncomfortable along with his presence. "I'm done trying to be nice, now I demand thee to join me. If thy again fail to meet my demands, you'll suffer the consequences," He spoke with an evil tone causing his hot dry breath to invade my nostrils. The grip he had on my shoulder hurt and with a shot of adrenaline, I ripped myself from his icy hand and ran. The mud, puddles and dead leaves making my sprint more difficult as my feet sank in the wet ground. The bottom of my pant legs feeling heavy from the debris clinging. My shoe's squeaking with every step from the moisture filling the insides. The cemetery gate is growing with each pace as it neared. My chest hurt from breathing the cold air so quick. I slowed my pace to a lazy jog thinking I'm home free; when out of nowhere I was tackled and crashed into the soft saturated ground. Before protesting to my capture, I feel a hot sensation on my neck, followed by a sharp burning pain. My head was pinned to the ground so I had no idea what is happening as my body felt paralyzed for a moment. Moments later the stranger loosens his hold allowing me to move a little. "See thou when thy come back my boy. I'll answer any questions thy may ask of me the best to my knowledge, No promises though," Fredrick's voice whispers into my right ear before yanking me to my feet with a strength so great. My neck began to numb, feeling like someone's holding a bag of ice to the same spot for a while. The feeling you get when someone places their cold hand on you after holding ice cream. I place my own hand to the side of my neck and felt a thick wetness which caused me to pull away quickly. A sudden wave of lightheadedness washes over me seeing the dark red substance known as blood smeared into my palm. I turn my eyes up at Fredrick with horror. "What did you do to me," I choke out. "As I said before young lad, I'll answer thou questions the next time we shall meet. Now if I were thee, I'd be hurrying home before the change." "Your wrong old man! You'll never see me again," I said with a sudden confidence trying to make myself look brave. "Trust me, thou will seek me out sooner then thee think and I'll be here," Fredrick replies turning and walking back towards the run down church. My eyes were getting heavy like I haven't slept in days. My nerves are shaking, my muscles began to tighten. I'm still lightheaded along with a migraine creeping in. "What's happening to me?" I yelled to the disappearing figure in the distance; my own voice sounding weak and hoarse as if I've been in a concert. Realizing I wasn't getting a reply and just standing there with these sensations coursing through my body I didn't feel a minute ago; I gingerly began my journey home. ****What Is Wrong With Me?**** I awoke in a cold sweat, my body drenched like the dew on the morning grass, my face clenching to the pillow. What a nightmare I thought stealing a glance at the clock that read 4:38 am. My mind playing the dream over and over like a bad re-run. I sat up with a sudden intense hunger I've never felt before that erased the dream in an instant from my head. I rubbed the sleep away not before feeling the heat radiating off my face. Dragging myself to the restroom to rinse the rest of the sleep away, I notice the house seems brighter than normal despite the hour. I reach to remove my contact's thinking maybe I forgot to take them out, and to my surprise they weren't there and I didn't think twice about it. Out of habit, I flip the bathroom light on and almost simultaneously, let out a loud yell; almost a scream as the bright light blinded me. I quickly flip the light off and as if nothing happened my eyes adjusted to the darkness immediately. I shook it off and turned the water on, gazing at my reflection in the mirror. My jaw dropped as I spot the wound on the right side of my neck, the dream rushing back like a lost memory. This time at the end of the dream, I saw the face that sent shivers down my spine. Fredrick's. "No," I heard myself say out loud. "It can't be!" I backed away from my reflection, my eyes still locked on the wound. "It was only a dream! I'm still dreaming!" I feel the wound and to my horror it's still moist from the blood. It's not a dream I thought as I looked at my clothing still damp from the rain with the dried mud stains on the front of my t-shirt. I looked further down my body and I still have on the same jeans I've worn to school, along with my sneakers, both are dirty with debris. The light again illuminates the vague darkness, causing me to yell as the burning returns to my eyes, basking my sight in a sheet of white. I shield the light with my arm like it was going in for the kill on a battle field. "Turn it out! Turn it out," I yell almost in a fit of tears. "Bro, you alright? I heard you screaming and talking to yourself from my room," My sister asks in a soft voice, cutting off the light. "Alice, something's wrong! I can't explain it because I don't know what exactly it is," My voice trembling. "What do you feel?" Her voice never losing the softness. "My body feels like it's on fire. The light somehow blinds me causing a searing pain. My...My...Just look my hands are shaking for no reason," My voice shaky from the fear. "Oh my John, your head is scorching," Alice claims after resting a hand against my forehead. "I think you got sick, especially coming home in those wet clothes and sleeping in them." "Uh Alice, I don't think I remember coming home earlier," I said after a long silence, trying to replay the days events. "Yeah, you came home, mumbled something and went straight to bed." There was another long pause of silence as I again tried to remember my day, but all I can remember is the cemetery and nothing after that. Suddenly a thumping noise bursts out of no where as I cock my head listening to the familiar sound I couldn't comprehend at the moment. " John..." Alice starts but I put a hand up. "Shh, You hear that," I said in a quiet tone searching for the source. "Hear what?" "It sounds almost like a heart beating." Alice gives me a funny look, "I think it's time for you to get some sleep. I've only been here for a few minutes, but you are seriously acting weird. Not only that but you look terrible. your skin is pale, you cried when the light was turned on. Your hearing noises that aren't there. What else is wrong with you? Should I get mom and dad first? I let out a sigh, "Maybe your right, a little sleep will work wonders." As I passed Alice, I stopped cold. I caught an aroma I've never experienced. "Hey you smell good by the way. Is that a new shampoo or perfume you are wearing." She gives me a curious stare, "No, but you seriously need some sleep." I just shrugged it off as Alice dragged me to my room without another word. However sleep didn't come easily due to the massive distractions going on in my head. Thoughts of what is wrong with me haunted my ability to sleep. Who was the stranger in the cemetery? Why did he attack me? Why am I feeling like shit? Why...? Why...? Questions flooded me like water bursting through a broken dam. One question kept coming back. What is happening to me? ****Questions Remain Unanswered**** Morning came before I knew it. My alarm was beeping; telling me that it is time to get motivated. I cracked my eyes open slowly, but the second the light touched them, it burned like hell. "Fuck," I mumbled reaching to my bedside table, retrieving a pair of sunglasses and putting them on. I again open my eyes slowly and the glasses helped because I could see, and as they adjusted to the light, I looked around curiously. It seemed to me my eyes adjusted better in the darkness the previous night, then they are doing now. The sun had a reflection to it that seemed strange, but I could not explain it. I walked to the bathroom to reduce the confides of my bladder, and as I'm urinating I notice something seems out of place or missing. For some reason or other the bathroom looked larger then it normally does and I just couldn't put a finger on it at the moment. I left the bathroom without a second thought and bump into Alice leaving her room. "Hey, feeling better?" I shrugged, "Actually I do, considering last night I felt like I was gonna die." Alice shook her head, "Your lying Hollywood." "Huh?" "Come on now, who in their right mind wear's sunglasses in the house; your still pale as a ghost. "She reaches up and places a hand on my forehead, "Jezz, you feel ice cold considering you were burning up last night, but your telling me your fine. Who are you trying to fool?" When she touched my forehead, different emotions flooded my conscience, and the hunger I've felt the night before came back with a vengeance. "Allie, I'm fine, trust me. But I am starving like you wouldn't believe." "John, go get some more sleep alright." A sense of sadness and concern coursed through me. That puzzled me because I was not feeling like that at the moment. I gazed into Alice's eyes and the emotions I felt hit me even stronger. It can't be, I thought as I could read the emotions hiding behind her stare. It's impossible, no one can read another person like this. Again that question came up. What is happening to me? I plopped back down on my bed after brushing pass Alice. My mind about to explode until my alarm chased them away with its annoying call. I looked at the time and I was running late for school, so I rushed to the kitchen to satisfy my uncanny hunger. The morning goodness of bacon and eggs did little to fill me up. The food not tasting pleasant played a small role. "You know you look ridiculous wearing those shades in the house; right?" "Yeah, I know." "Then take em off dummy. Why are you wearing em anyway?" "The light burns my eyes, "I replied nonchalantly. "Can I see your eyes real quick," Alice says crossing the room to stand in front of me, "I wanna make sure there is no serious damage o.k." I hesitated for a second, "Sure I guess, but the minute I yell put them back on; alright." "Oh stop being a big baby," Alice says reaching for the glasses and removing them slowly. Instantly the light burns and I force my eyes shut. "Open them. I cant see," Alice replies smacking my shoulder. I open my eyes briefly, but the pain is so bad, I began to tear as Alice lets out a loud gasp. 'Enough," I shout, my eyes feeling like thousands of needles impaling themselves into me. "Wow," Alice breathes as she slips the glasses back onto my face. "What's wrong?" My voice squeaking with concern. Alice just keeps smiling, "Wow! Your eyes are the most beautiful shade of blue I've ever witnessed." "Huh, my eyes are always blue; I was born with them you know." "Bro, have you ever seen how blue the ocean is on a clear sunny day? Well take that for an example except your eyes are a lot lighter. It's breathtaking. God I've never seen something so elegant." "Uh Alice, I hate to rain on your parade, but you do know your describing my eyes right. Your brother. It's a little creepy don't you think?" "I know, but I've never seen anything quite like it. What did you do, get new contacts?" "Nothing different sis, but it's time to get ready for school. So lets get moving." As I was making my way to the bathroom to finish the rest of my morning rituals I hear Alice yell. "You should flash those eyes at school. I guarantee the other girls will fawn over them. Maybe you could actually get a date." That comment lifted my spirits until I gazed into the mirror. I dropped my toothbrush into the sink not believing the scene in front of me, and let out a terrified shriek, knocking the bathroom miscellaneous supplies to the floor with a crash. My horrified reaction caused such a loud commotion I didn't acknowledge Alice's presence until I heard her speak. "What's wrong?" Her voice filled with heartwarming concern. I didn't answer. My mind was too overwhelmed with confusion, fear, and mainly disbelief. I reached for the door and slammed it closed on her face, not wanting her to see the sight that will forever haunt me for the rest of days. All my recent fears came to life. This was not a dream, but the beginning of a terrifying nightmare. As I gazed into the mirror the same question stood with me. What the hell is happening to me? ************* Quick Authors Note. The bright sun filled sky making the cemetery look less intimidating then yesterday. I wasn't here to survey the scenery, but to extract some answers I so desperately craved. I wanted to face Fredrick, interrogate him, intimidate him with the rage anger, and confusion he cast upon me. With a heavy sign, I pushed the heavy gate as the rusty hinges squeaked sending the same chills to cascade down my spine. There was no backing out now I've come this far. I marched straight to the weathered damaged door, stepping around the termite consumed holes the wooded porch presented, and before I could pound on the door, it swung open as if someone expected my presence. The dry musky air hit me in the face as I entered the church, my eyes moving swiftly looking for any signs of life that may exist. "Hello," I called out, the confidence I felt before diminishing through the crack in my voice. "Ah, my prodigy returns as I expected," Fredrick's familiar scratchy voice echos off the enormous empty room; his peculiar appearance approaching from the shadows. With all the mixed emotions conflicting me, clouding my judgement, I acted out in pure instinct alone. I rushed Fredrick and grabbed him around the neck with both hands in a tight grip. "You son-of-a -bitch, what the hell did you do to me?" Fredrick let out an evil laugh and reached for my neck as well, lifting me off my feet. "Temper, temper young lad. I can kill you again right now if I so please. Now calm down and I'll explain to the best of my knowledge. Do we have a deal?" I chocked out a yes as Fredrick tossed me against the wall with little effort. I caught my breath, gasping for precious air. "What did you do to me?" "I, my friend turned you," Fredrick replies staring daggers at me. "Turned me into what? A future patient at a hospital because since we went our own ways, I've been feeling sick," I yelled accusing him of the way I've been feeling. "A creature of the night so powerful. The ultimate predator. Perhaps you heard of one, a vampire," Fredrick says in a serious voice, his eyes beginning to glow at his revelation. I shook my head, "vampires are myths, folklore, legends, and science-fiction." Ah, Ah, Ah, I told you before, I'm an honest person," Fredrick replies shaking a bony finger at me. "I noticed thou was wearing sunglasses; is that correct?" I just nod in agreement, wondering where he was going as my mind raced with questions. "My reflection in the mirror was missing this morning, although I seen it a few hours prior. Is it because of what your telling me," a voice telling me in my head that I don't need to hear the answer. "Precisely, but you are a half-vampire and half-human until you feed upon a mortal human. Deep inside there is a presence, wanting out, sometimes uncontrollable. It's hunger for blood is so great, it would become almost nearly impossible to continue a normal human life. The emotions around you would become apparent as the weak humans cannot hide them as well as we can. Fear, anger, lust, hunger, and blood will fuel the vampire inside, causing you to disconnect with your sub-conscience." Fredrick explains locking our eyes as one. "How can I control it?" I asked fearing for my life. "By feeding my boy. You bite the human where I bit you until you feel the pulse beating slow, almost to a stop. Thou shall never feed from a dead human, as you will slowly begin to die, an extremely painful death, lasting for centuries, causing your fangs to fall out, making it utterly impossible to feed." Fredrick says, rubbing the wound on the side of my neck to emphasize where I shall feed. "What if I refuse to feed on a human," I asked sounding disgusted by the idea of having to consume blood. "You need blood to survive. Any kind for that matter. Animals are fair game as well, however only human blood will satisfy the intense hunger you shall feel." Fredrick replies smiling wicked at me. I feel the tears beginning to stream down my face. "You bastard. You stole my life. I'm only eighteen for Christ sake, now you've turned me into a blood lusting monster. Why?" I choked out collapsing to my knees in defeat. "I couldn't let you return to society telling others that you laid eyes upon me. I knew if I changed you, your mind will be alienated with the changes you feel in your body, and I stand correctly." Fredrick replies reaching down; pulling me to my feet and putting a cold hand under my chin to raise my head so our eyes can once again connect. "Now now young lad, being a vampire may not be as disturbing as it may sound. Imagine a life without the threat of sickness, a life where your attributes are endless, the amazing speed we possess, the ability to read the emotions surrounding us, the cover the darkness can present itself, the godly strength and endurance, the possibility of becoming almost immortal. Think of it my boy," Fredrick says gripping the front of my hooded sweatshirt, shaking his hand in excitement about some of the quirks a vampire can possess. "I don't want any of it, I replied. I want to be a normal human, with a normal life, with normal problems. I didn't ask to be a vampire; you bestowed this nightmare upon me as you so shamefully stole my human life." The tears beginning to flow as I ranted on. "Now I'm forced to drink blood to feed an endless life I detest; forced to watch generations of my family pass away. "I began yelling, ripping myself from his clutch, "did you think of what I may have wanted before you possessed me with this monster." "That's right my boy," Fredrick says approaching my form as I backed away. "Let the vampire inside you out. I want you to get angry, let the rage open a door, expelling greater power beyond your wildest imagination. Feel the power envelope your every sense," Fredrick taunts, his eyes blazing from the behavior he caused within me. "Yes, yes, let it out boy." My body began to tingle as I felt my heart race, a chill welling up from somewhere deep inside. My mind was disconnecting from my conscience. Anger and rage pour from me like a broken dam, along with an instinct to kill. Hunger was coursing merciless throughout my brain as I became something different. A surge of power I've never felt ran through my body like electricity running through a power line. Changes were happening whether I liked it or not. "Let's see that power son," Fredrick says once again gripping me around my neck with strength I've never felt. I reached out hand; gripped him around his neck matching the same strength he used and tossed his body against the wall like a sack of potatoes. Before his body could fall to the floor I reached his prone and vulnerable figure, again tightly wrapping a hand around his neck; tilting his neck to the side, sinking my teeth deep inside his vein. Seconds later I felt the warm liquid flow freely down my throat, his steady beating pulse slowing to an almost halt. "Enough!" Fredrick gasps, his voice weakened by my sudden onslaught. With my hunger satisfied for the moment, I stared coldly into his eyes as my human form again takes over. "What have I done," I mumbled seeing the red liquid trickle from the wound on his neck. "You my boy have fed," Fredrick says with a sneer. "However the demon will remain inside until you feed upon a mortal human. The next time when you change, I won't be there to stop you; the change will be permanent. Now leave my presence so I shall rest from thy attack." I let go of the hold I had on Fredrick and took a cautious step back, watching his weak body collapse to the floor. "I will find a way to extract this demon and I will come find you, and I will kill you so that many lives after mine are safe. That is my promise to thee," I said with a confident tone in my voice. "Good luck my friend. The demon will take over whatever willpower you possess and there will not be a thing to do about it. Nobody to stop you from stealing an innocent life, just as nobody stopped me from claiming yours." Fredrick says while coughing dry air, and still gasping for air. "Your wrong this time old man," I replied feeling unstoppable. Fredrick laughs at my bravery, "you smell that wonderful aroma in the air. That my boy is the scent of blood. Deny the vampire what it craves and try to control it, you will fail. I turned and left the church without another word, Fredrick's words echoing inside my head. What if he is right? What if I never again become human? I can't will myself to steal an innocent life. How will I be able to control this monster in society, knowing it wants me to kill everyone in sight? My family, oh God my family. I may be putting their lives in jeopardy. I turned my head watching the church diminish as I walked alone with my thoughts. "I will kill you so help me God," I said aloud taking one last hate filled gaze at the church, the place where my nightmare begun. ************* End Note- Sorry about this chapter being so short, as I took the story into a different direction then I originally intended so please bear with me. Thanks for taking your time to read my work. The Vampire Inside Ch. 03 Again I apologize for the lack of sex as there will still be none. Please be patient it soon will come. * Happiness, sadness, envy, jealously, anger, regret were some of the emotions surrounding me as I sat at my usual table in the school cafeteria. Everyone seemed to feel an emotion like they have a name as I stared around at my fellow classmates who were engaged in conversation with one another without a care in the world. My world came crashing down on me almost twenty-four hours ago and yet here I am in school pretending everything is normal. Inside of my body though I could feel a small war between my human conscience and the vampire as each emotion bounced off me. Negative feelings seem to stir the demon, while the positive feelings let me comprehend with reality and somewhat control the vampire. Hunger was brewing inside my brain as the faint smell of blood wafted through the air making it even harder to ignore my surroundings. As my eyes scanned the large room, the emotions were bouncing off me like a deck of cards being dealt until I locked on a girl sitting in the corner by herself. Just like everyone else I noticed her before and thought she was weird because she always kept to herself and never interacted with anyone. However as I stared at her my mind was blank. I wasn't drawing any emotion from her, as I watched her lips move while she silently read the book she was so engrossed into. Without thinking I got up from my table and sauntered over to where she was and took a seat across from her before my mind caught up with what I was actually doing. "Hi," I said as I politely greeted her. "Go away! I don't date people from school, nor do I wanna chat with you." She said never taking her eyes off her book. "I-I'm not here for that. I thought maybe you would like a friend," I responded feeling a hint of anger rush from her. "What are you trying to say? I'm a loner, a loser because I sit here by myself. Which one of these bitches put you up to this? Well let me tell you buddy..." She stopped mid-sentence as her eyes met mine. I felt a wave of confusion pouring from her as we stared at one another in silence. "What?" I asked her as her lips turned a sheepish grin. "Your a newbie," she challenged. "What the hell you talking about," I asked drowning in a pool of confusion radiating off both our consciences. "Yup, your a newbie. Can't control your emotions huh." She said beginning to shake her head. "You know it's dangerous to show emotions right? One hint of any negative feelings could get you easily killed by another vampire." My eyes bugged out of my head at her revelation as my head moved frantically around trying to look for an escape route. I stood up ready to leave her presence until I felt something cold grasp my hand. "Wait, don't go." I heard her speak as I looked at the hand in mine. I was scared and didn't know what to think as I pulled my hand away from her and exited the building taking a seat on a wooden bench outside. Alone now with my thoughts and emotions, I tried to wrap my mind around what just happened until a squirrel approached from out of nowhere. The hunger built quickly inside as I smelled the rodents blood. With speed I never thought existed I swiped it off the ground and looked at it quizzically. What was I supposed to do now? I really had no idea how to feed being in human form. I was starving and the lunch I consumed in the cafeteria did little to nothing to satisfy me. Fear and panic began to hit me as the squirrel frantically tried to release itself from my grasp but was failing miserably. Fredrick's words were bouncing around in my head. A scared target is an easy target as I raised the scared rodent to my face, its blood intoxicating my senses along with its fear. I opened my mouth ready to bite, my thumb instinctively moving to its pulse but I stopped before I let my teeth sink in. What the hell was I doing? I could probably get some unknown disease or infection if I bite this. I lowered the bushy tailed rat and spoke to it. "Consider this your lucky day," I said tossing it to the side watching it scurry up a nearby tree. Fuck it I thought. A school lunch will have to do for now as I got ready to head back into the building. "I could have eaten that you know," I heard the girls voice nearby. "Following me?" I asked turning my head in her direction. "Maybe," she replied taking a seat on the same bench I was sitting on. "I'm sorry I frightened you. Its just been so long since I met another like me." My eyes again got big as she removed her sunglasses.and I was met with a pair of blue eyes so bright, I thought I would go blind. She blinks several times revealing a deep purple tint laced inside the blue orbs. I sat there stunned. "Yes, I am a vampire like you. You would have known that if you listened to your senses. Based on my knowledge your relatively new. Did The One give you any guidance like rules or survival tips." "The One?" I questioned. "Yes, he who bit you is The One," she answered. "Wait, how did you know I was a vampire? "It's pouring out of you like an open floodgate. Your emotions are changing every second letting me to believe you have no control. I can see your eyes through them glasses and the obvious you have pale skin and if I touch you I bet your as cold as I am. Need anymore proof." I stared at her in awe that she read me that fast. "No, Fredrick didn't really give me any guidance, so I really have no idea how to survive this nightmare." A look of horror crossed the girls face as she got up and ran holding her face in her hands. I caught up to her in a corner where she was sitting on the ground Indian style sobbing. "Hey, I'm sorry," I muttered to her thinking I did something to upset her. "It's not you believe me. Tell me Fredrick's last name is not Zepher," she asked between sobs. "It is. Why is he The One who bit you too." "Thankfully no. He killed both my parents in front of me after I learned one of the secrets of being human again." The girl replied, her sobs turning to sniffles. "I want him dead but I could never find him. Now it hurts even more to know that he stole your life also." "I shook my head at the broken girl. "I want him dead too. How about we work together and bring him down?" She wipes the tears from her eyes. "I'd like that but vampires are independents. There's no way we can work together. We'll end up killing one another over a speck of blood." I offered a hand to her. Fredrick told me I'm still human until I feed upon a human so we can actually try to work with one another. The names John Timmons by the way. "Melissa Franklin," she replies reaching for my hand with a smile. "I'm still human also until I feed." Melissa and I returned back to the school to a chaotic scene. A fight was taking place between two jocks and there was a lot of arguing, screaming and cheering as I stood there somehow in the middle of all the chaos. Fists began flying as the two combatants were engaged in their fury and the cheers erupted louder when there was a loud pop. The sight of blood pouring out of a broken nose sent me into a state of delirium. I felt the veins in my body tingle as the dark presence inside began to overwhelm my conscience. The intense hunger I've been feeling multiplied as the aroma of blood reached my brain. I walked to the bloody scene as if I was being carried there by something unknown. The closer I reached to the blood the less control I had over myself. I was no longer thinking on my own anymore. The blood was pulling me in like a magnet. I knelt down in front of the bloody guy as my hand darted to his neck ripping him quickly to his feet with force my grip getting tighter around his neck. as our eyes lock. I feel his pulse throbbing through my thumb which sent cold chills down my spine. I can feel his pain from the broken nose he suffered feeding the demon more strength as his body swelled with negative emotions triggering my own instincts. I lowered my head for the bite as I felt the sweat on his neck on my teeth.along with someone jerking me back at the same time. I whipped my head in that direction causing my glasses to crash to the floor. I grabbed that person around the neck with my free hand as I stared coldly into her eyes. She looked awfully familiar but in the state I was in it didn't matter. "You dare to interrupt me," I whispered coldly. "I should kill you for that," I said squeezing tightly to emphasize my point. "I'll deal with you later," I snarled angrily tossing her to the side like am unwanted toy. I again lock eyes with my first victim as a surge of fear escaped his well being. My grip tighten even harder around his neck as his beaten body fed the vampire more strength as it consumed each emotion coursing around us. Again I drop my head for the bite but my teeth never came close as I was ripped away from my victim with force. my hand instinctively grasping that person around the neck. Before I could confront this person, I feel a hand grasp me around the neck with equal force, pulling my head close to her neck. "Bite me now hurry,'' a voice echos in my ear. The fear from the boy who I still had a hold on was continuing to escalate through my body. His pulse hammering on my thumb, the blood running from his nose kept drawing me to him. I pulled my head from the neck I was offered to lock my attention on my first victim. "Come on John please. Ignore the temptation. Bite me damn it," She whispers loudly so that I can hear; following it up with a hard slap across the face. That pissed me off and without hesitation I sunk my teeth into her neck, releasing the hold I had on the jock. The moment blood touched my teeth, unbelievable pleasure coursed throughout me. The warm blood sliding down my throat slowly diminished the instinct to kill as the burning hunger was being satisfied. "Stop," I heard a voice choke out. I opened my eyes being blinded by the silky black hair that pasted against my sweat covered cheeks. "S-stop! P-please John!" Her weak sounding voice broke though my now conscience mind; her breaths becoming quick and shallow. The pulse of her neck was slowly beating which made my teeth bite down harder. I knew the end was near for my victim, instinct told me to kill My head was violently ripped away from my meal. My eyes go wide as I see Melissa's face, her eyes barely open. With a weak tone lower than a whisper she asks me to hold her up. My arms shoot around her waist as she collapses into me. I look up from her and look at the crowd surrounding us, The looks of horror were plastered all around. Oh shit I thought. ************* I'm just writing to have fun so once again thanks for your time reading my work and I hope you enjoyed.
