Since most of my stories take place in Lovecraft country, I felt it was time I finally came up with a horror-oriented story with some of my old characters. The following contains elements of incest, so if that offends you, please read no further.] La'Tonya Morse looked at the clock as her car sped past the Massachusetts state line on I-84 east. It was only 11 a.m. She never quite got over how small the New England states were in comparison to the southern states where she was originally from. Like so many others, the horrid storm that devastated New Orleans two years back left her without a home, and after much searching, she forced herself to realize that Hurricane Katrina claimed her mother as well. La'Tonya spent the past two years couch surfing at the homes of various friends, acquaintances, and old girlfriends. Her travels took her all across the south, leading her inexplicably to the northeast. She couldn't put her finger on exactly why she was going in that direction. She remembered fondly her tenure at the University of Southern Maine, and how the time not consumed by her studies was enjoyed in the arms of her attractive roommate, a voluptuous brunette named Rachel. She felt a familiar tingle at the thought of her former lover, and the memory of how she helped soothe the girl's broken heart. They parted amicably, and last she had heard, Rachel and her boyfriend had reconciled. Apparently, their breakup was the result of a terrible deception by her mother. They lost touch due to the storm, and even then, the news was a year old when La'Tonya finally learned it. That was the only time La'Tonya had heard from her friend. She assumed that Rachel had been busy with her new place and new job, and with rebuilding her old relationship. She could also feel her friend drifting away, as old school friends often do. Still, she couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible had happened. Ep. 06 Misled by Beauty "Yeah, he has better luck with the ladies than I do," Randy said with a laugh. "He's a good cat, though. Not the sharpest crayon in the henhouse, but he's a good cat. Can I get you a drink?" "Water, please," La'Tonya said as she gently put Yonggary on the floor. Randy went to the refrigerator and pulled out two bottles of water, handed one to La'Tonya, then sat at the dining room table, offering his guest the seat across from him. When she sat down, Randy asked, "So, what seems to be the trouble?" "What do you know about dreams?" she asked him immediately. "Only that they always end before the good part and I always wake up with a massive stiffy, why?" La'Tonya laughed and told him about her dreams and how they had been getting worse since she came to Massachusetts. "This last one was so terrible," she said. "I finally get close to the city. It looks like something from that man who made the alien from that movie, except a lot weirder and scarier. Then a man swims up to me…he has huge eyes, but he's kinda handsome in a way. He smiles at me, revealing bloodstained teeth…and then I hear the words 'Welcome home, Serena'." "That's odd," Randy said after much thought. "Especially since that's not your name. And you've never been here before?" "No, never," she said. "I've only been to New England twice, including now, and never in Massachusetts. When I went to college in Maine, I flew." "Any family here? Anyone that would know you?" he asked. "I only knew Rachel, and apparently she went out west," she said. "My momma did say that Pops was from Back East, but not much more. In fact, she refused to tell me about him 'til the day she disappeared." "Disappeared?" "After Katrina hit. No one ever found her body." Randy put his hand on hers and said, "I'm so sorry." "Thanks. But yeah, I lost her, lost my home, lost everything to that goddamned storm, so I've been on the road ever since. I still miss her. In fact, the nightmares started ever since she disappeared in the hurricane. The usual 'I'm drowning' bit, but then gettin' worse." "I'm really sorry," Randy said, clasping her hand tighter. "I lost my grandfather recently, as well. Not to the storm, thankfully. He had an old war wound that just got worse. I still miss him horribly. He ended up becoming a father to me and my kid sister after my 'real' one took off. After that, he became more of a dad to me than the man who impregnated my mom." "Sounds like he was a really special man," La'Tonya said. "Yeah, he was," Randy smiled in spite of the tears starting to well in his eyes. "He left me the Tae Kwon Do school where I teach when he died. I own the place, but I don't know dick about running a business, so my mom handles that. She's always knew more about that shit than I do. But yeah, he passed away about a month before Rachel left. I guess you can say 2006 was a pretty lousy year, and apparently 2005 wasn't terribly kind to you, either." "So," La'Tonya said after a pause, "what do you know about this place?" "Oh it's pretty nice and the rent's cheap. Also, the landlady's really nice to me, although I think she's got a bit of a crush. Now if I were 50 years older…" "No, no," La'Tonya laughed, "this town." "Ahh yes, good ol' Innsmouth," he said. "It's not so bad here, at least not in the new section. In fact, my last good memories of my father was when he'd take me to here when I was a kid. And you know, the fried dough and the pizza usually almost covers up the fish stench. Live here for long enough and you don't even notice it. It has been getting worse, though, especially in the northern section of town, but no one likes to go there anyways." "Why? I mean, it seems like kind of a dump, but it can't be that bad." "I dunno. I mean, it's pretty run down and the locals are really creepy, but there's something else there that I can't put my finger on. Maybe it's all the posters of missing people that seem to sprout up like fungus, and they were always last seen coming into that part of town. You've seen the locals, haven't you?" La'Tonya remembered some of the odd-looking patrons of the Stinky Fish Face and nodded. Randy continued, "Yeah, I don't know what's up with them, and frankly, I don't wanna know. For one thing, I hate the way they stare at me all bug-eyed. Gives me the heebies, ya know?" "Yes, I do," she said. "Listen, I don't want to be alone tonight. I don't want to impose, but may I stay here with you? "After dreams like that, I don't blame you," Randy said. He went into his living room and unfolded his futon. "My kid sister stays here a lot during school breaks, and she's a fussy little brat, so I'm guessing it's pretty comfortable. Let me get you some blankets and a pillow. "The bathroom is across from my room if you need to freshen up, the fridge is over there…mi casa es su casa. Anyways, I'm pretty beat, and I can gather that you are, too. You okay, now?" La'Tonya embraced Randy warmly, kissing his cheek. "Yes I am, thank you so much." "No problem. Stay as long as you need to." "Thanks. Good night, cher. And Randy?" "Yeah?" "Rachel was a fool. A goddamned fool. You're a good man." After a pause, Randy smiled and said, "Thanks. Good night." Ep. 06 Misled by Beauty She then straddled Randy's waist again and lowered herself gently on Randy's throbbing cock. La'Tonya groaned as she felt herself becoming filled, and steadied herself by putting her hands on Randy's chest. Roughly, she pulled his tank top off, nearly ripping it. She looked down and marveled at the sight of Randy's naked body, feeling her pussy becoming hotter in response. She realized it had been a long time since she had been with a man, let alone a good man like Randy, so she gave him all she could. She laid down on him while his cock was still inside her, and kissed his lips lovingly. Randy's arms encircled La'Tonya as he returned the kiss, thrusting up to meet her hips. He could feel a tear drip on his cheek, and La'Tonya's cheek felt damp against his face. 'What is it she's feeling?' Randy asked in his mind. 'Is it guilt? Is it love? What is it?' As if sensing his mental questions, and as if to avoid them, La'Tonya sat up and said, "I want to feel you from behind, baby." Randy kissed her lips quickly and grinned. Of all the sights in the world, one that he loved was the sight of the bare ass of a fat girl while she was bent over. He wasted no time getting behind La'Tonya and, gripping her wide hips gently, he slid his cock easily into her eager pussy. "Fuck me hard, baby," she cried. "Give it to me!" Randy's hips thrust like the piston of an engine, making La'Tonya's ass jiggle. Her cries grew louder and higher as her pussy clenched onto Randy's shaft. Randy gasped as he started cumming inside her, the semen pushing against the tip of the condom. Both their bodies spasmed quickly, then they laid down, their flesh spent. Randy slid the condom off and dropped it in a nearby wastebasket, then held La'Tonya in his arms. La'Tonya laid her head on Randy's chest, trying to block the thoughts that suddenly bombarded her mind. She could swear that the town was calling her. Images of run-down, ancient buildings insinuated themselves into her thoughts. They were familiar to her, and this terrified her. She felt as if she were submerging in cold, briny water, surrounded by a school of fish. She could feel their slimy scales touching her skin, their fins touching her breasts and between her thighs. She shuddered slightly at the sensation. Then, swimming towards her was that strangely handsome, but barely human man. He smiled at her sweetly and touched her face. Then his mouth opened, revealing his jagged, bloody teeth, and sunk them into her breast. La'Tonya tried to scream, but was silent, the tears mixing with the ocean water. She could feel the fish turn to tentacles, and they wrapped themselves around her legs, prying them apart. In her mind, she could hear the man speak: "You're MINE, Serena!" She tried to scream again as the beast began to violently fuck her, but no sound escaped her lips - only bubbles. Tentacles bound her arms and her legs, so she couldn't fight him off. Part of her didn't want to; part of her felt she belonged here. "You belong to me," the voice in her head boomed again, this time from the back of her mind. La'Tonya turned slightly and saw the source of the tentacles. She only saw one eye in the blackened deep, glowing hatefully a deep crimson. "Come back to me," the voice said, even louder. Finally, she was able to scream as she felt the tentacles penetrate her. "NOOOOOO!" she cried. "Come back to me, La'Tonya," a voice, a kinder one this time, said. "Wake up!" She forced her eyes closed, and opened them again. She was back in Randy's bedroom, soaked in sweat. Reflexively, she backed away from Randy, feelings of violation and revulsion flowing through her. "Are you okay?" Randy asked without thinking. "Do I fucking look okay to you?" La'Tonya shrieked, her voice a shrill rasp. "I'm sorry," Randy said, backing away slowly. "You must've dozed off and had one helluva nightmare." "I'm sorry, too," La'Tonya said. "And thank you for saving me." She looked him in the eyes and said, "I have to go there." "What?!" Randy cried. "I know what you're thinking, but I think it's the only way for these fucking dreams to stop." Randy sat back against the headboard, closing his almond eyes with a sigh. "Fine," he said. "I'll drive you in there, but first sign of trouble, I'm getting you out of there." La'Tonya's eyes went even wider. "No!" she shouted. "Darling please, this is something I have to do on my own. If something happens to me, I can handle that. But if you came with me and something happened to you, I'd never, ever, be able to forgive myself." Randy started to protest, but a finger to his lips stopped him. "Please, Ran-Jong. I need to know why I'm having these dreams." She sat back and continued, "Growing up, I remember my momma always screaming in her sleep. She'd constantly wake me up until I started using ear plugs. The doctors always had her on meds, but they didn't seem to work, at least not completely. I prayed I'd never have to go through this, and I prayed I'd never put anyone through that. "Randy, if I'm to have a future with you, I need to stop these nightmares." Randy turned and met La'Tonya's wide-eyed gaze. "Fine," he said as evenly as he could. "But if you find yourself in danger, promise me that you'll call me." La'Tonya held Randy in her arms. "I promise," she said, a sob creeping in her voice. "I'll never forget you, sugar." She got off Randy's bed and quickly dressed. Randy got up soon after and dressed himself as well. La'Tonya opened the door, and Yonggary bolted under the bed. She looked under and saw the cat back away against the wall, his ears flattening against his head. La'Tonya sighed, and started walking towards the door. Randy followed her as she opened the door and left. He didn't want to let her leave; something in his gut told him he'd never see her again. The sun was setting as he watched La'Tonya's car drive off, and a thought occurred to him: she rarely blinked. He didn't know why the thought came to him, nor did he know why it made him cringe. All he knew was that something about her suddenly scared his cat, something that he'd never seen. He turned around and shut the door behind him. He went back into his bedroom and saw his cat poking his head out from under the bed. Randy picked Yonggary up and stroked his head, then laid down on his bed fully clothed. Suddenly, all he wanted to do was sleep… …and get the Hell out of Innsmouth, never to return.
