Zoo-Related Newsgroups, Mailing Lists, and Usenet-Related Resources

For even more info, visit the Zoo Resources page [currently offline as of 12/98], which is an excellent collection of links to IRC channels, talkers, and newsgroups, plus links to the software (for Macs, Windows, and other platforms) you need to access them.

GayZoos -- NEW! Added January 2, 1999
"There is a Gay Zoo mailing list at http://www.onelist.com called GayZoos."
ZetaNet
ZetaNet is a mailing list for German-speaking zoophiles and zoo-friendly people. To get further information about the list, please visit http://www.biosys.net/whitefang/.

Usenet Newsgroups

Note: A single asterisk (*) indicates a bogus or unofficial newsgroup, with tons of spam and little if any on-topic discussion. Double asterisks (**) indicate a group which, while off-topic, occasionally has material of interest to zoos.

alt.bestiality (*)
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.animals (*)
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.bestiality
Like the name says, bestiality pix: your first stop on the Infurnation Zoo-porn-highway.
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.bestiality.hamster.duct-tape (*)
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.cartoons (**)
Usually cartoon characters or things scanned from comic books. Rarely zoophilic in nature, though sometimes you get lucky.
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.furry
Some furry erotica, or "furotica," can be quite yiffy, and is invariably more professional in construction than the typical beastie pix.
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.plushies (**)
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.tasteless (**)
alt.binaries.pictures.furry
Occasionally, furotica is posted or cross-posted here.
alt.binaries.pictures.tasteless (**)
Another source for the occasional bestiality pix, if your provider doesn't carry ABPEB.
alt.sex.animals (*)
alt.sex.bestiality
"Happiness is a Warm Puppy." Our favorite newsgroup, when not full of flames and spam, which seems to be most of the time. :/
alt.sex.bestiality.alix (*)
alt.sex.bestiality.alix.piantadosi (*)
alt.sex.bestiality.barney (*)
alt.sex.bestiality.hamster.duct-tape (*)
alt.sex.bestiality.pictures (*)
alt.sex.furry (*)
alt.sex.joey.loves.sheep (*)
alt.sex.plushies
Hey, if you can't be with the real thing, fake it! :) To its credit, this group tries to be a serious resource, by cancelling spam as it accumulates. Needs more signal, though.
alt.sex.reptiles (*)
alt.sex.sheep.baaa.baaa.baaa.moo (*)
alt.sex.snakes (*)
alt.sex.tasteless (*)
alt.sex.toons (*)
alt.sex.zoophile (*)
alt.sex.zoophilia (*)
alt.support.grief.pet-loss
Since our lovers have shorter lifespans than human beings, we are faced with their loss more often than most people. Sometimes it seems like there's no one who understands how much our pets mean to us. This group was created for that purpose. Please note, however, this is a NON-ZOO group, so no sex talk, please.
alt.talk.bestiality (*)
alt.tv.tiny-toon.sex (*)

How to Access "Banned" Newsgroups

Not every group listed above may be carried by your ISP. Here's one way to access them, even if they're "banned" in your area. More information is available here. [This section paraphrased from Steve G. Steinberg's article on page 46 of the March 1996 Wired. Kudos, Steve!]
  1. Using your FTP client, download one of the freely available Usenet readers such as Free Agent for the PC or Newswatcher for Macs.
  2. Find an Internet site that offers public access to Usenet. James W. Abendschan maintains a list of such "open NNTP sites", as well as a search engine. Tony Perez also has a list of open NNTP sites, and Michael Voigt has another search engine you can try.
  3. Point your Usenet reader to the chosen address (consult your newsreader's documentation for instructions), sit back, and enjoy.

How to Post to Usenet via E-mail

If you want to post to Usenet, perhaps to a controversial newsgroup, but your server will reveal more information about you than you'd like, one solution is to post via e-mail, using an anonymous address. This also works if your provider doesn't carry the newsgroup you want, or if it doesn't have a newsfeed at all.

You can get an anonymous e-mail address from a number of sources: HoTMaiL and USA.Net, to name only a couple. HoTMaiL and USA.net are free services. To maintain your anonymity, you have to send mail directly from their web site, and not by simply telling your e-mail client to use the pop.netaddress.com server, which still reveals your RL provider identity.

Once you get an address, visit the List of mail to news gateways maintained by crypto-dude Don Kitchen. In e-mail, compose your Usenet message as if you were sending it to a person, but use one of the gateway addresses listed on Don's page.

For example, I used to post messages to <[email protected]>. This gateway is now defunct. Using a gateway like this is kind of a crap shoot: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Send test messages and try a bunch of them to see which gateway is most reliable. Also, not all gateways carry all newsgroups.
