She reaches out for your hand, but stops, looking up at you with cautious eyes.
"Can I-?" her voice is gentle, as if you would shatter from the slightest disturbance.
You nod and she slowly, yet firmly grips your hand.
"Greene?" She asks.
"Yeah Mom?" Your voice is so hoarse after so much you need to swallow after just two words.
"Are you okay?"
You can't bring yourself to lie.
"No."
She winces, squeezing your hand tighter as she opens her mouth.
You can tell she wants to say something, but just... doesn't know what.
Who would?
So... she doesn't say anything. Instead slowly pulling you into tight hug.
Despite feeling like you were all cried out a moment ago, your eyes begin to water again.
"My baby boy..." her voice quivers. "My precious little emerald...".
Even as you're losing your mind, Mom's nicknames will never fail to make you groan.
Eventually she pulls away, looking alot less stressed.
That's good. You don't need to make things harder for her. For any of them.
Even though that's all you seem to do.
You squeeze Mom's hand and she immediately seems to know something is wrong.
"Do you need something dear?"
"My medicine ran out."
Her eyebrows furrow.
"What happened to your spare?"
A unpleasent feeling fills you as you look down.
"I... pulled my drawer out onto the floor and I couldn't find it."
Mom puts a hand on your back.
"It's okay hon. Amber?"
Your twin straightens out in the bathroom doorway as Mom calls her name.
"Yeah?"
"Can you grab your brother's meds? They should be in- by Greene's top dresser drawer in his room."
She gives a silly salute, exclaiming "Aye aye sar!" in an equally dorky tone.
It's so dumb you can't help but snort.
Amber smiles, satisfied with your reaction as she marches off to your room.
During that time Dad had came back for a moment to wrap you in a big fuzzy blanket, Mom giggling as he basically put you in a straight jacket the first attempt, she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
