>The rest of the night is spent mostly just mindlessly watching television. Place is clean, fridge is stocked and I really don't have much to do to prep for Mia coming over. I quickly slap myself for even bothering to fret. She's Mia and I need to stop sperging out about the intricacies of how she and Ben get along.
>Even saying that doesn't quite still my stomach. It takes force and even a touch of anger to finally quash that doubt. I trust Mia. Everything's fine.
>I roll over into bed sometime in the late hours of the night, checking my phone one last time to make sure plans haven't changed. Bone dry. Except the group chat still abuzz between Lunara and Kiara about some celebrity gossip.
>I chuckle at their idle chatter and silence my phone for the night. Sleep is broken not long after I close my eyes to my phone's alarm. Yawning and stretching it's breakfast time.
>I start to poke about the fridge for some breakfast, those frozen breakfast sausage and biscuits call to me. As I start to process to zap them in the microwave my phone dings.
>A glance over reveals it's not the group chat but instead Mia herself. Didn't think she'd be up this early. I start the frozen goods defrosting process and go to check to see if she's maybe cancelled.
>"mornin. im here." I reread it a few times. Huh.
>Alright then. Microwave still humming and pajamas still worn I move right on over to the front door and open it. True to her word there stands the parasaur. She smiles smugly and quickly shuffles in as I step aside. I spy she's carrying what seems to be an overnight bag. My heart jumps into my throat.
>"You said your folks are out for a few more days, yeah?" I nod as she tosses the tote onto the couch.

>"Killer. You're cool with me crashing here for a day or two, yeah? My parents have been up my ass for the last couple of days and I need a break." Without even asking me she's already taken a place right on the couch, TV on and channels rapidly swapping.
>It's a bit of a strange emotion. Part confusion, frustration and excitement. Hard to place the greatest volume but it flushes quickly into amusement.
>"No problem at all. You hungry?" I offer as she cranes her head back to listen to me over the TV.
>"Hell yeah. What you got?" She's stood to join me in the kitchen, now.
>I prop the freezer open to show a few breakfast pieces, frozen for use. She reaches passed me to grab a handful of the burritos as my own meal finishes heating. I slap it on the table and watch as she goes for her own turn.
>She joins me at the kitchen table as she waits.
>"Ben say anything to you yesterday?"
>A bit startled I reply. "No. Just an apology for the outburst." I have to go for a drink of water as I put the scalding hot meal into my mouth. It earns a chuckle as Mia watches me flounder.
>"His loss." She seems quite pissed at that, staring into the distance a bit. Quickly she melts into a smirk again, eyes on me.
>"So, just me and you. All alone. In this big old house." I smirk back seeing exactly what she's playing at here.
>"Oh no what ever will I do? Big bad dino girl has me at her whim!" I put on a sort of teasing tone as I flip her meaning. Instead of a chuckle or another fire back I'm given a slightly-lidded stare.
>Her words come out silky and piercing. "Careful what you ask for, Inco."
>I let loose a bit of a nervous chuckle as she pulls her mouth into a fanged smile. I start to try to delude myself that she's just teasing but am hastily reminded of what happened the last time I'd come to that conclusion. I swallow as her own food finishes heating.

>We have a bit of a shared breakfast and I find it extremely nice. I can't even remember the last time I've had a meal in here with someone else. As I'm relishing the moment Mia seems to catch on, asking.
>"Your folks out often?"
>I sigh back. "Yeah. They keep real busy." I gesture to the place. "You might be able to tell."
>Mia chortles at my lightening self-jab. "Least they're not sticking their snouts in your business every second they can." She scoffs. I merely peer at her, questioning with my eyes.
>She gets the message and shares, reluctantly.
>"They're hounding me about graduation and what I'm going to do after highschool. Dad's cool with me doing whatever but mom jumps on my ass literally every day about being a mechanic."
>She puts on a higher pitched, mocking voice. "No man wants a girl coated in oil. It'll ruin your skin. What if you get hurt? Will shops even hire you?" She leans back and groans.
>"All day. Every day." My heart goes out to her. I can't imagine what it would be like to have that kind of pressure from above. Or any pressure from above, really.
>I affirm her. "Sounds like a drag."
>"Wild that you're the only person that seems to be alright with what I want to do." She's surprisingly honest with that. It worries me a touch.
>"Even Ben?" I quietly hope she's just discounting him. Nope.
>"Especially Ben. He tries to pretend it doesn't bother him but the second I mention an engine or vehicle he's on edge. Hate that fake shit." Her sentence trails into almost nothing as she goes.
>Having her open up to me like this feels good. Feels like I'm doing my job as a friend, a confidant. That small pebble in the bottom of my head still uncomfortably ringing.
>I pay it not mind and smile at Mia who merely shrugs back at me. Breakfast finished and literally nothing else to do today I prod Mia with some plans.
>"You want to go do something?" I start to have ideas for a movie or maybe we just go driving around the heights. Anything, really.

>"Nope." I almost chuckle at how instant she is on the reply.
>She explains. "Lets just hang out on the couch and pig out all day." Can't say no to that.
>I follow her right over and take my spot on the right edge of the couch, ready for a full day in.
>Instead of sitting on the other four-fifths of the couch Mia decides to sit almost on top of me. I choke out a cough of air as she strikes me in the side with her tail.
>"Oops." She doesn't even pause and just settles right in, leaning over onto me. That little buzz in my head whispers Ben's name. It grows and grows as she fits into me like a puzzle piece. Finally to the point that I can't stop it from escaping through my mouth.
>"Aren't you still dating Ben?"
>A moment of heavy silence hangs as she pokes an unenthused gaze up at me.
>She's curt. "Alright. Fine."
>Yet instead of removing herself from me she pulls out her phone, dialing. A few rings and it's on speaker. A sort of tired voice comes through on the other end.
>"Hello?" I recognize Ben through the line.
>Mia speaks. "We're breaking up." I watch in horror.
>"W-what!?" He stammers back. The phone is hung up before he even gets the full word out.
>Mia slides her phone onto the coffee table. "There." And with that she slides right on in, arms trailing around and up my back.
>Still in shock I simply watch as she goes, treating me like a giant pillow. That buzzing dies but in it's spot a deep guilt takes it's place. Did... I have a hand in this?
>I look down to Mia in her extreme comfort. She looks happier now than she has in a bit. Shit maybe it's fine.
>Maybe it's not.
>It's been a confusing couple of weeks around her. Huge peaks but a constant undertone of just...wrong. All the time I hang out with her and the posse a quiet nagging hits me. I think I've finally found it's breaking point.

>And let it drop. If I'm to pick between that feeling and everything I've had since the start of the year it's an easy choice. Goodbye whatever the hell you were. You will not be missed.
>I get completely comfortable in Mia's arms. Peace and quiet and a warm saurian girl pressed into me. I slide down the couch slightly to get fully comfortable and I notice a tail wrap around my leg.
>Mia's voice resonates in my chest.
>"Think it's time I paid you back a little more."
>I already know exactly what's coming and gladly accept it. Her mouth comes up to mine and we kiss, deeply.
>No more hesitation. I push into her, hard. Arms coming around her to plant on the small of her back.
>Her hand meets mine and drags it...lower.
>Tongue in tongue and we savor the moment. Electric pulses fire through my mouth and into my body. Head swirls in heat and pleasure.
>She pulls back mere inches, whispering into my mouth.
>"I think I could get used to this."
