>"You two be good for miss Judee, okay?" Fa- er, Lucy is leaning down over the two little ptwins, one sucking a thumb and the other merely cocking their head up at their mother. They aren't even a full year old. I watch as the one with an orange scarf around her crest pulls her arms up to be picked up but is gently denied.
>Lucy stands up straight and walks over to me, Anon is fretting near the front door mirror with a tie.
>"Thank you for this, Judee. I know you're busy with your set design job. I bobble my head at her. I wouldn't call it busy by any means but she's being nice and I have no reason to interrupt.
>"Our numbers are in the kitchen, food's in the fridge if, er, WHEN they get hungry." She turns to her progeny.
>"Be nice you two." she scoops down to hug them tightly as they hug back. She stands and brushes her dress, a tight purple cocktail dress and turns away.
>"Alright let's go." Anon glances back
>"Yep yep. Thanks again, Judee!" he calls back as he steps to the door, opening it and letting Lucy out first. A quick wave back to me as the two step out. I hear the door lock click.
>I turn to the two little ones, two sets of bright eyes staring right up to me. Greene's the one with the green bandana around his neck and Amber's the one with the orange one on her crest. I move from the couch to sit in front of them. We just stare at each other.
>I've never taken care of kids but when I got the call I jumped at it. A bit embarrassing now that I look back at it. I look over the two as they return the favor, taking in my white speckled scales.
>Amber, seemingly the more adventurous of the two leans forward from her sitting position and makes pace for me. A small panic rises as she moves over to inspect me. She makes it to me and starts playing with my jeans. Right, they're babies not bombs. Just gotta keep them entertained.

>Immediately things go awry as a sniffle starts from Greene. Before I can even fully lock my eyes on him he's started crying. Oh no.
>Amber turns her little chubby head to her brother, curious as to why he's started the wetworks. I deftly move over and reach to him. Nope, that wasn't the play as he just kicks the bawling into mach 2. I cringe back and my mind races. Entertain, right. I grab a few of his toys and jingle them in front of him. Nothing.
>As I look around again I hear him start to stifle. I look to see his sister has crawled back over and is patting him. I watch as he calms, now noticing the toys again. I blink a few times and give them another rattle.
>This time it's a success and he goes right to focusing on them. I breathe a sigh of relief and just play with them a while, watching as the ptwins do their thing.
>But not too long after I notice Amber has crawled back over and is now gesturing for me to pick her. I steel myself and do so, hoisting her into my lap. I gently rock her a bit as I notice Greene looking at the two of us.
>I gently gesture down to him and he reciprocates, holding his arms out. Alright I'm now dual-wielding toddlers. I rock the two but notice two sets of eyes on me. I wonder what might be going on behind those glowing gems.
>They seem to get that I'm not quite on their level as Greene decides to babble at me, waving his stubby little arms. I try to figure out his little motions as I hear the start of another crying fit, this time from Amber.
>Food! It must be that! I stand and move to the kitchen and the crying dies out. One point for the Troodon. I open the fridge and just about drop the two as the thing bulges food out at me.
>I glance back to see two high chairs and starts heading to the dining table. They just about scramble out of my arms into their chairs, hungrily licking their chops and staring at me.

>I step back and pick out anything that seems edible. Nothing's labeled but I was assured they'd eat the tableware if left alone so I don't think too much about that. A couple sets of nuggets, mashed carni-safe baby food and some meatballs.
>I almost lose a finger as I drop a plate in front of Amber. She's on the food instantly. I more carefully slide the plate onto Greene's table. He's a bit more reserved but still tears into it like it's a fresh kill.
>I consider asking aiti if I was this bad. I watch as the two wear just about as much as they get down. Eyes gleaming back at me.
>I serve seconds. Then thirds. I consider stopping but they'll stop when they're full, right?
>Plate four is the one that finally isn't licked clean and I notice some very droopy eyes from the two as I clean. I chuckle at the voracious little things and hoist them, noticeably heavier now and head right back into the living room.
>A check of the clock reveals we've got a bit longer before it's time to put them down for the night.
>I settle them down as they slowly blink and weave. Maybe I could read to them or something. I look around but see no childrens books.
>I glance back and hesitate. I mean... I could always...
>I push into the thought and pull a few puppets out of my back pocket. Interest gleams in the tired eyes.
>On they go and an intent stare is applied. I've not done a show in a while but I shake the rust instantly as I go into a small performance. The usual story of an argument between the three puppets, them resolving the differences and being better friends.
>The captive audience slowly nods off to my story, I lower my voice into a quieter whisper as I go. I finish and see them both now laying aside, quite asleep.
>As gently as I can I scoop them up and move them into their cribs. Their own room painted and joyous. Something stirs in me.

>I gently tuck them in and click their monitors on. My notes said that the monitor was in the master bedroom. I pull the door to and retrieve it, returning to the living room.
>I thumb over the remote a few times and think. I think I want my own, now. I start to set the monitor down when I already hear stirring. I jolt up and into the room to see both of the two are awake and ready to let loose a torrent of tears.
>Back into my arms they go and I rock them as I walk around the house. Back to bed they are but the instant I start to lay them down they're right awake.
>We play this game a while as I feel a bit of exhaustion over me. I sit down on the couch as the two gently sleep in my arms.
>I consider how I'm going to get the two to bed again as I settle in. This couch is extremely comfortable. If I'm not careful I'll-
>"Judee?" I shoot awake as I hear Anon calling my name.
>I grasp a bit, the two babies still tucked right into me, asleep.
>"O-Oh! I'm sorry I guess I n-nodded off." I gently stand as Lucy joins us now. Her face at first concerned but quickly melts into a deep smile.
>"They gave you a bit of trouble, huh?"
>I blush as Lucy looks over me.
>"They kept getting up..."
>Anon chuckles. "They're spoiled rotten." he shakes his head and offers to relieve me. I almost hesitate handing them over. It's noticed.
>"You did great. You free to do this again?" I blink as Lucy stretches a bit, the tiredness of the day on her as well.
>"Y-yeah."
>She digs into her purse and hands me my payment, a ludicrous amount for a mere four hours of sitting. I almost threaten to hand it back.
>"They like you too much to pick anyone else." I hear Anon speak to me, a bit louder. I glance to him to notice a stirring pair of pteros.
>"See?" A sleepy, stubby arm is pointed at me. Asking for another cuddling.
>I melt as I'm patted on the shoulder by Lucy.
