>Meal in hand and I join the table proper and tune in to it's mood. Or rather tune into Demi carrying the whole thing. Olivia only really responds in grunts or one word replies and Liz seems busy the entire time, even if she does put her phone down to give the full attention once we get on the topic of her school duties.
>Turns out she runs the finances for a bunch of clubs and the student council. Keeps herself busy.
>She's in the throes of explaining her duties as it happens, "You would not believe how many forms there are for just something as simple as a small purchase for a clubroom. The headache I have to go through every time..." I notice she's pointed her head away from the group. I follow her gaze to see...
>"Hi, Mia." Liz addresses the parasaur...s?
>Oh, Ben's next to her.
>He speaks, "Alright, go ahead." He nudges her and she huffs, flicking her head to toss her hair before she speaks.
>"Didn't mean to crack that egg of yours. Sorry." Ben smiles and nods at me as Mia folds her arms, making sure we know this is not of her own volition.
>Ben speaks, "There, that wasn't so hard, yeah?"
>Mia rolls her eyes, "Yeah whatever. Text me later, Benny."
>And she's off. That was...odd.
>Ben shrugs, "Sorry about her. I see you're doing better today, Inco." I smile at him and give him a thumbs-up before speaking back.
>"Yup, thanks for the concern. So uh, you and Mia?" He sighs, putting a distant but happy gaze.
>"Yup. Strange, I get it. Anyway I actually need to borrow Liz if that's okay."
>Liz sighs and quickly starts gathering her things. She really wasn't kidding about her workload.
>Demi speaks up, "Talk to you later, Liz." Liz huffs and gives a quick wave before following Ben along. Demi sounds a bit down as she informs me.
>"She's deadset on being an art dealer. Already dipping her toes in." Ah.

>A huff from Olivia. I notice she wheels away right after Liz vanishes out the lunchroom doors. Oh.
>Demi sighs. "Try not to hold it against her. She's not the biggest fan of new people." She shrugs at me as I scowl a bit.
>"Hey at least Mia apologized. Even if was Ben that made her." Demi shrugs, chomping away at some more lunch.
>She's not wrong. I find myself nodding along in agreement as I pick and lunch, suddenly remembering that I owe Demi, hard.
>"Oh hey I wanted to say thanks for the whole thing yesterday...and now the lunch thing today." I scratch my chin as I focus, Demi's eyes lit up as I speak to her.
>An idea sparks as the little machine outside that I'd been eyeing earlier seems devoid of patrons. I fire up an eyebrow. "You want anything?" I gesture to the vending machine outside as I stand.
>Her eyes sparkle, "Hell yeah get me one of those sports drinks, cherry, top row!" She's just about vibrating out of her scales. I smile and nod as I wander out to the thing. Oh hey it takes cards.
>I go ahead and grab her order, getting myself one as well since I'm here. Once I return I motion to pitch the thing to her and she squares up. It's sent and it's good. In a flash she's got the top off and just about drains the thing before I can sit.
>Wiping her mouth as I return she thanks me heartily, "Man I love those. Thanks, Inco." She notices I'm wielding a second, eyebrows raised.
>I start to open it, to take a drink but just shrug, handing her round two. She's over the moon. First now finished and second quickly torn into.
>It's a nice feeling. I finish the last dregs of my meal as Demi threatens to tilt her entire tray up and funnel the rest of hers into her mouth. I find myself enthralled watching her go. She's quite fun to hang around.
>I check my phone to see we've got maybe fie minutes left before lunch is over and I should probably start out.

>"This was fun, thanks Demi. I should probably get out early to make sure I know where all my classes are. See ya."
>I'm not let go quite yet. Demi shoots up as I do and bear-hugs me. I find my toes even leave the floor. I land as she lets me go and almost stumble.
>"Later, Nico!" I get what I now know as the signature Demi special. Two thumbs up, big smile. Toothy and beaming.
>A wave back as I head out. I feel pretty up about this whole year, now. Already got a table and a small group of friends, even if Olivia is a bit distant. Wonder how she and Demi know each other? I march on over to my class. Turns out I share photography with Ben.
>He'd been my first point of contact here, helping me the first morning. At least a bit. He smiles and waves as I approach.
>"Hello. Inco. I suppose this means we share photography?" I nod and confirm.
>"Think so. Thanks for yesterday and uh, Mia." I shrug. He waves a hand at me.
>"It's nothing, don't fret about it." Before he can continue the conversation the bell rings, signalling we should be seated. As I sit and look forward I notice here comes Iadakan, this time wielding some sort of elongated metal r-
>*FWOOSH*
>Well if I didn't need sunglasses before I do now. I blink the stars from my eyes from the flashbang he just struck the class with.
>"Good afternoon and welcome to photography! What I just demonstrated was a flash lamp! Completely useless nowadays!" it's roughly tossed into a trashcan as he goes about his lesson. Hell of an entrance he makes.
>It's a wonderful introduction and I find myself completely enthralled. His energy is infectious and the class itself flies by.
>As it ends we're given a small assignment, take a photo of somewhere using some lighting equipment. But not the door to the classroom. He made that abundantly clear. Ben even volunteered to work with me on it, a group assignment. We give our farewells and I stride out, finding my way to my next class.

>Next up is social studies and yet another pair of familiar faces. Both Olivia and Demi share this class with me.
>Olivia is nonplussed but Demi threatens to talk my ear off. Well that is until Miss Prockling threatens her with a visit from coach Solly. It scares me to see Demi deeply consider if it's worth it.
>She settles and the class drags. It's like day and night. I feel my eyes threatening to shut as she just...drones. The subject matter is interesting, sure but man she could put the worlds worst insomniac to bed.
>As I start to meet Mr. Sandman I feel a piece of paper slap me in the face. I startle and shoot straight up as it falls off and onto the floor. A very giggly dilo girl tries to not get caught. I glance to see an opening and quickly reach down to scoop it up.
>Folded into a little football it's one of those class note passing games. Seems that both Demi and Olivia have already started on it.
>Wow, one of the two is a hell of an artist. I'm guessing that's Olivia from what I've been told at lunch. I get right into it. Doodling time. These hands weren't built for artistry but they sure as hell can draw a cruddy little fancy 'S'.
>I refold and check to see where to send it. Demi is a few rows up and quite far off. I start to consider just how she managed to accurately bean me in the face with the thing. Impressive.
>Olivia is closer, though. I aim and flick, swish. A miss. Great.
>It clambers to the floor next to her and to my horror Ms. Prockling turns. In a flash Olivia slam the thing with her tail, startling the class.
>"M-Miss Halford?"
>Olivia grumbles back, "Thought I saw a spider."
>Ms. Prockling sighs and goes back to teaching as Olivia quickly scoops down to grab the paper, leering at me for a moment. I just shrug back
>The paper makes it's rounds a few times as we doodle, the three of us all filling the sheet.
>Class ends with it in my possession. I can't quite find it in me to toss it. There's some real winners on here

>I make it a point to ask Olivia about it as she exits class. Her and Demi having a small conversation as I approach the two.
>I hold the thing up as I start, "Hey, here."
>Two confused head tilts. I explain myself, "Those were some really great drawings on there. Thought it wrong to just toss it."
>Olivia blinks at me a bit, strange emotion across her face as Demi gives me a subtle thumbs-up.
>Olivia grunts out, "Keep it if you like it."
>There's a lingering glance on me before she wheels away, Demi moving in to pat me on the shoulder.
>I look the sheet once over as the two leave. Lots of little cartoon rats, stick figures and fancy text. It's clear which ones are Olivia's and which aren't. I spy one particular doodle of an egg with sunglasses. A crack on it near the top.
>Demi's work. I smirk and fold the thing, tucking it into my pocket. I'll have to chide her about that later.

Fin, off now. Was fun /snoot/
