>Mel pretty much prances in front of me as we make our way out into the park, looking for a nice spot to settle. It's a bit rare we just take a full day out like this, doing nothing but it's nice to just relax sometimes. Nothing but us and nature. Not to mention Mel loves this more than anything.
>I notice she's headed towards a tree a bit away and I pick up the pace, matching her speed. She gets her little basket out and lays down a piece of cloth for us to sit on. Feels pretty retro watching her do this. Almost like we're a couple from the fifties.
>I join her as she unpacks some goodies, a few sandwiches. M and G marked on a few. It always warms me to know she goes out of her way to prepare carni stuff for me. I take my offered snack and start unwrapping.
>"Was your week good?" She starts a bit of light conversation.
>"Yeah, actually. Dad's taking me to a gunshow tomorrow, too." Mel smiles at me. I know she doesn't care much for firearms but wants to share my happiness regardless.
>"You?" I take a bite as I pose the question.
>"Yup. I've been working on that song." She's been quietly writing some music. Nothing too fancy just a small acoustic and vocal bit.
>"You wanna hear what I'm trying for the vocals?" I nod and she scooches over, settling into my arms and leaning back. I love listening to her sing while we're like this. She starts.
>It's angelic and wispy. Almost ethereal. I can feel her soft voice resonate through me as she does. I close my eyes and focus entirely on the sound. On the feeling of her body purring as she goes.
>I almost feel lost in her as she sings. A simple story of dreams of stardom, the future. It's a vivid scene of excited joy. I am drawn along until the end. I realize I have set down my food as she's done this.
>"You like it?"
>"It's wonderful." I put the bottom of my snout right on the top of her head, tilting her slightly so as to not jab my throat with her crest.
