>Amber breaks off first, nodding and moving to talk to some of the guests. I watch as she settles in with mom and a few of the other mothers, namely Sera's and Cynthia's.
>Well I hang out with women enough day-to-day so I glance to see if I can catch dad or some of his work friends. Before I can spot him I notice a tall and a bit pudgy Dilo guy pull up next to me.
>"Hey there sport." I glance over him. No idea who this is. He recognizes me it seems, though.
>"You're Anon's kid, yeah?" I nod at him as he points me at a cooler nearby.
>"Drinks are there." I nod to him and spy he's carrying a beer in his hands. I go ahead and grab a soda out of the thing. For a second I consider grabbing a beer as well but I'd much rather stay ungrounded for the next six months.
>I return to see the guy ready to talk, doing so as I step within earshot.
>"Damien." He offers a hand. I return a shake.
>"Uh, Greene."
>Firm and strong. He pulls back and elaborates on how we know each other.
>"Your dad's cousin is married to my sort-of-sister." I try to stitch the connection together but come up short. Wonder if he's just here to crash the buffet. Smart play.
>"You know I got a kid about your age." I start to ready myself for the parent lecture. Great, now I get it from even more angles. It pivots, quickly.
>"You doing well?" Oh, weird. I shrug.
>"Well enough." He starts to motion for us to walk and talk, I oblige as I don't spy dad or anyone I happen to know. He talks as we walk out back.
>"You got any hobbies? Anything you trying to work to a career in?" That's a strong question. I look over him and shrug, answering.
>"Not sure yet." It's a bit of a non-answer but it's the best I can give him. He surprisingly relates.
