>"Damien she's going to flip out you moron." Mia sighs at me as we walk up to my house. I turn to her right as we hit the front door.
>"Not like you to be worried." I fire a smirk at her.
>She sighs and drags a hand down her face, pulling down on her eyelids. "I'm not. Was sorta hoping you were. Whatever."
>I push open the door and step in. Mom perks up as I do.
>"Oh hey Damien. This her then?" Mom eyes Mia as we step in.
>"That's right. Mom Mia, Mia mom." mom steps over to get a full once over on Mia. I'd told mom about her a while back, once Liz ended up moving out of state and we went cold.
>"I'm Sophia. It's good to meet you, Mia."
>"Yeah, likewise." Mia sort of half-heartedly fires back. Mom pushes passed it and moves us to the table, dad and Olivia should be joining soon.
>Mia takes her place and scooches in as mom prods some questions at her.
>"So what do you do?"
>"Working on being a mechanic. At the moment just cashier work." Mia leans back in the chair, eyes to the rest of the house.
>"Her car's outside. You should go check it out." I fire a huge grin and thumbs up to the two.
>"That's more of your father's area, dear." mom shuts it down. No fun.
>I hear the front door click open. Guess that's dad.
>"Heya!" He calls out from the front "Who in the world's car is that out front?" He lets out a bit of a whistle.
>I shoot up to meet him at the door. "Hey pops."
>"Damien!" I get a pat on the shoulder.
>"Mia's here for dinner." I fire a thumb back at the table.
>He blinks a few times as he recalls. "Oh right your new sweetheart. That her car?"
>I nod
>He glances back to her. She's facing away. He leans back down and gives me a pat and a thumbs up.
>"Good pick." I smirk at him.
>I head back to the table, noticing mom has returned to the kitchen. I call for her.
>"Need help?"
>"Nope! Almost done in here." I shrug and start to sit, Mia pockets her phone and speaks.
>"Didn't you say you had a little brother?"

>"Oh yeah he's out today. Sleepover."
>"Darn. Was hoping to corrupt some youth today." she rests her arms on the table.
>"You a fan of kids?" I lean back and get comfy. She never came off as the motherly type.
>"Little balls of rampant destruction and chaos." She lets out the smallest smile. Guess that's a yes.
>Dad's joined us now, taking his usual spot. "So, tell me about yourself." He's settled in as well, looking relaxed.
>"Working on getting into mechanics. Like cars." Mia is a bit closed. I step right in.
>"That's an understatement. She fixed and maintains that muscle car completely herself."
>Dad is floored. "Really?"
>Mia shrugs. "Not that big of a deal." I spy the faintest blush ever. She's weak to praise. Time to double down.
>"Bet she could take the truck apart and have it back together in a day." I earn a boot to the shin for that. Worth it.
>I struggle to keep a straight face as I hear Olivia as she enters.
>"Alright I'm mostly packed. Inco will be over tomor-"
>Her voice is cut off abruptly as she park herself in the doorway. Mia turns to face her.
>"W-why's Mia here?"
>"Surprise! She's who I've been dating after Liz took that job over in Rexas with her uncle." The surprise is very not appreciated.
>Olivia slowly and carefully wheels herself to her spot, next to me. The silence between the two is heavy. Dad even cocks an eyebrow at us.
>"Randy! Cmere a sec!" Mom calls from the kitchen.
>"Be right there!" He quickly stands and glances to us before walking out.
>As soon as he does Olivia speaks. "The hell, Damien!?"
>"What?" I fold my arms
>"Mia!?" I hear a snort from my left
>"Told you." I wave her off as I continue speaking to Olivia.
>"Look we talked, she's nice. C'mon." I plead.
>"She's not even sorry, is she?" Olivia looks at me angrily.
>"Not at all." I hear from my left again. I take a deep breath.

>"Look, why don't we just stop this. We're adults. Cmon." I look between the two, smug superiority from my left and exasperated anger from my right.
>"You two can get along. I know it." I huff at the two of them as Olivia takes a deep breath.
>"Alright alright you win. Look, Mia." She turns to Mia, leaning to see around me.
>"I caused you problems I get that. We're not friends but I'm willing to not be enemies." She looks at me for confirmation of how well she did. A nod and a smile. Attagirl.
>"Now, Mia." I turn to her.
>"I'm not apologizing."
>"Don't want you to. Just acknowledgement." Mia sighs and looks dead ahead.
>"I was a cunt. You really need me to say that out loud?"
>"Aaannnd...?" I lead her. She fidgets and scowls at me.
>"And I'm trying not to be anymore." she just about growls out. I almost leap into her arms and smother her.
>"GAH! GET OFF ME!" She fights back but she's not shirking this. I get my cuddles in.
>I finally return to my seat not a moment too soon as mom and dad return, carrying several dishes. One special herbivore plate for Mia.
>I see Olivia out of the corner of my eye, she's shocked. I wink at her as the plates are passed around. Dinner goes rather well.
>A couple prodding questions to Mia who mostly deflects and small talk. She's pleasant as she can be and I'm thankful for that. Mom and dad are rather impressed considering she's already living alone with a steady job and career prospects. I beam in pride. Failing a bit on that front here but I'll find something.
>Olivia and Mia actually manage civil conversation. It wells up joy inside me. Knew we could work out. Finally it comes to an end. The meat and bones torn to shreds between us and Mia's own little roasted veggie platter also clean as a whistle. Told you dad could cook.
>The time feels right and we start the process of saying goodbye, mom and dad making themselves scarce and having some alone time out back.

Ignore the catbox link. Got caught up in my clipboard and missed it.
>We pause at the door. A bit of a silence hangs as Mia and Olivia look at each other.
>"I can't believe you actually agreed to this." Olivia speaks to Mia.
>She sighs "Not really my plan." I get a sideways glance.
>A goofy smile to assure them this was completely on purpose.
>"Happy to see you're doing better at least."
>"Didn't ask, wheels." Mia snarls back.
>"Look at that, even your insults are softer." Olivia lays it on. A scoff and a quick march out the door from Mia. I follow quickly.
>"Thanks for this." I quickly wrap my arm around her as I walk her to her car.
>"Don't ask this of me again. That was horrible." I pull her tighter."
>"When're we meeting yours?"
>"Hopefully never."
>"You really hate them that much?" We hang a second beside the drivers side door.
>"They're not like yours." She seems a bit distant. Time to fix that.
>"I got lucky, yeah. I don't mind sharing them." I snuggle in, burying my snout into her neck.
>"Alright enough." She pushes against my intimacy again.
>"See ya, gills." she opens the car door and sits.
>"They're frills, Mia." I lean down and peck her on the cheek. I pull back to see her face a bit gentler now.
>"So that pool out back's not yours?" I snicker
>"See ya around, hotrod." She rolls her eyes. I know she hates that name so I'm going to use it until either she goes deaf or I get my vocal chords ripped out.
>The engine roars to life and she pulls away. I think I see a glint of wetness on her face as she goes. Might just be my imagination.

Fin, thanks clipboard very cool.
