>Well he's late again. I glance up the stairs to see if my brother's coming. No sight of him. Must be caught up in something. I make my way up the steps, two at a time, up to the front and push back in. If I'm remembering right he's got a class on the east wing. I start to step over and hear voices. A name catches my ear. Greene's.
>I stop and point my head, focusing as two saurian dudes are laughing, talking loudly. I listen in.
>"Can't believe that pussy has to call his sister every time something happens." Target 1 speaks. I feel my wings twitch.
>"Only hangs out with a bunch of girls at that. Bet he's gay. That or a girl himself." They both snicker and laugh. Just go, Amber. It's two dumbasses just having a-
>"You see his face earlier when I tripped him? Thought he was gonna cry!" And that's it.
>In a flash I'm on top of them, both slightly taller than me. Like that matters. Target 1's in the lockers instantly with my forearm pressing his throat. Target 2 stumbles back at the loud noise.
>I snarl, "What. Did. You. Just. Say?"
>He's on the verge of wetting himself under my grip.
>"C-calm down! I just-" I press in harder, choking him.
>"I-I'm sorry!" His voice comes out choked and strained. I pick him up a bit then drop him like a rock.
>I lean down over him and speak again. "You better hope I don't see you again." I slam the locker next to his head with my foot, denting it.
>He scrambles off in a flash as I pull back, watching the coward run. I step back as the crowd now starts to move along, no violence for them today. I spy my silver haired bro staring at me.
>He's not happy. Oh god I did it again. I watch him, hurt and belittled slink to me. It's a quiet and almost lifeless greeting.
>"Hey, Amber." I bite my mouth.
>"Sorry about that. You ready to go home?" He nods at me slowly, following as I lead us home.

>He looks down the entire walk and I beat myself up the entire time. How many times has he asked me not to step in? I finally break and step aside partway through our trek home, pushing him into a little convenience store and to the back.
>He's a bit surprised but takes an energy drink out of the selection when I offer. We stand in the back near the coolers as I lay it out.
>"Greene I'm sorry. I know you hate that but when I hear those morons popping off I can't stop. You understand?" He nods yes but no happiness is spared on his face.
>I sigh and motion to leave, paying for the two drinks and continuing the walk home. To my horror as we get closer and closer I hear him sniffle.
>I turn to see his eyes wet and threatening to leak. I hate this. I hate this so much. He looks at me pathetically and I hug him hard enough to hurt.
>It's his apology that comes first. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm so worthless."
>I prop him up, not allowing this. "Greene, no. You're my brother. I love you."
>The waterworks fully start after that, more sniffling and lots of face wiping as I squeeze him. I can't put the words together to tell him that I'd never hate doing this for him. Always be there for him. Don't hate him for his failures. All I can do his hug and hope.
>He calms enough to walk the rest of the way home with me, another few hushed apologies escape him before we can walk. I pieces the words together in my head as best I can, preparing one last phrase for him as we walk up the front steps.
>I do my best and try to pick him up. "You're not worthless and don't let those scumbags tell you otherwise." He wears the smallest smile.
>"Thanks, Amber." It's weak and sniffled but he manages it out as we step into the house.
