A pic from the first gryphon folio.  The dragon's colours were taken from a dragon race in a book I had been working on in high school, who had a cool blue colour, contrasted by fiery wings and a bright yellow underbelly and mane.  The gryphon's colours were put together part by part; I decided I wanted his main body to be ivory, then decided on gold for his back and inside feathers, and then blue to frame them.
