I coloured him after I had retouched the face to make him look more friendly and inviting, making his outstretched hand look more like an invitation.  I decided to go for a different cat type with him, and used a tiger.  It was a blast putting the stripes on him, and gave him a spiff exotic look.  The bare skinned crotch came from my barred skin kick :)
