I wanted to do a piece that really showed off a gryphon's balls hanging between his legs, and a pose with the legs stretched out would be ideal for such an image.  So I put him in that pose and expression, when I realized that I had drawn his right arm wrong for his other hand to be palmdown on the bed as well.  Since his hand would have to be facing up, I'd have to find a good reason for such a positioning.  Obviously, he'd have to be holding something, but what and why?  He was too delighted to be simply holding something like a condom; he'd more likely wave that over his head.  Now if he had been looking for a condom so he could finally get laid, and had just found it.. that would justify the position and expression.  But.. it wasn't funny, and having gone down that line of thought to justify the pose, I had to put a punchline in there.  So, after thinking about what he might be desperately looking for in relation to a sex partner, it just sorta hit me :)
