Strange thing. I couldn't login to Patreon for several days. I just didn't get SMS code for login. Besides that, now things are getting better. I expect to work fully from next month.

Here are a couple of HQ renders from the Rara and AJ animation. Animation in work now. I also rendered 4 new scenes from the Twilight + Chrysalis animation. I'm starting a search for voice actors. I have an offer for voice acting, but it will cost about 600$ for this video, so I'm looking for more affordable options. Current length is 4 minutes (after editing), and it will be at least 2-3 minutes bigger. OMG, I didn't expect this project will be so big.

Well... I have problems with my pancreas. And the worst part is that I don't have health insurance here. I really need to go home. For two weeks I could only lie on my right side, unable to work, walk, or stand. It was scary...

My condition is better now, but I still have problems.

But there is also good news. I finally bought my tickets home and I should be home by September 16! I can't believe this is going to end any time soon.

I will make a lot of content in the second part of this month, or I'll make next month (October) free for all current patrons, if I won't be able to work in September.

Upd for big animation about Chrysalis and Twilight: new scenes not rendered, but I made post-processing for all already rendered scenes. At this point, this animation is more than 2 minutes long!

This animation planned as one of several (Celestia + Celestia, Luna + Luna, Celestia + Luna), as well as a shorter VR Version, but now I still don't have free render time for this, so I'll make this variations as I get home.

This is result of multiple similar requests from four (or five) patrons, with the same plot (Celestia + Human). Next requests will also be animations, but shorter, so next I plan to make up to two animations per week + complete work on the animation "Twilight and Chrysalis" as soon as possible.

Twilight And Chrysalis animation is still in render. One main scene was really hard for rendering and took a long time (almost 72 hours), so all animation rendered approx at 75%.

Looks like this is going to be the biggest animation I've ever made. I had to cancel a few minor scenes (this scenes will be present in the full version), redo a few scenes (there were some problems). Rendered about 70%, so I start working with sounds of already rendered part. Problem is that I don't have a library of music and sounds with me, so I'll have to search sounds and music in the Internet.

I also completely reworked human model and you will see it in the next animation human vs princesses (also, currently in work).

While bigger animations are in rendering, Chrysalis doing stupid things!

Final fixed animation with several improvements. I planned to make this post yesterday, but due to problems with the Internet, I'll post it only today. Twilight and Chrysalis animation is rendered by 60%. A lot of render time is taken up by these small animations like the pool animation, but without it Patreon page would be empty for a whole month. Rendering even of small animation (Luna and Celestia in the pool) took to many time. I have planned to finish it on June 4, but render will be finished only tomorrow (June 11). Also, I can't use help of volunteers :\ (I'll try to describe this problem in the Discord). Therefore, trying to speed up rendering right now, I bought additional laptop for rendering while I not at home. This should speed up work at least twice.

While I wait for ending of large animations rendering, I have checked water caustics. I need it in one of animations. Here is a problem: hair + caustics always require a lot of RAM (32GB for 1080p output), but laptop equipped with 8GB of RAM so in this scene hair and water effects are rendered separately from each other, after which all layers are combined.

Previous animation (Twilight and Chrysalis) is fully completed, it's almost two minutes long! But visualization is very slow. Three scenes were rendered in five days (in this animation 15 scenes + 5 alternative scenes). I have reduced rendering quality as much as possible (without noticeable artifacts on image), but rendering is still very slow. I'm already working on a new animation (pool wips attached in this post) while previous animation is still in rendering. Will you be willing to wait big animations, or should I focus on images and short loop-animations while I'm not at home yet? (Small animations require much less time for rendering.)

And one more detail, my Internet connection is very poor. Soon I will switch to a new Internet operator.

Hair and wings most likely will be reworked.

It seems that my current version of work materials archive is outdated and I can't finish some of the work I've already started (previously taken requests) until I get home. So now I want to make new characters models and several animations with them.

I completely reworked skeletal setup of characters models, it will allow to make a very long animations, so limit is now only on the rendering time.

I still don't have access to many of my pages, and I have problems with Internet access.

Yes, it's COVID-2019 total lockdown and I'm stuck in a city far from home. I have rented a laptop and already installed all necessary software (demo versions will work for at least a month) and will try to work. I have an archive of my work materials with me, but this version of archive has not been updated for a long time, so I will not be able to finish last works now, I will finish it immediately when I get home. Since this laptop is not so good as home computer, I can make only simple animations now.

Since I was using a new computer, my access to Patreon was immediately blocked and I spent a lot of time trying to get access again. I still don't have access to all my other pages (Twitter, etc.). Sorry for the long wait, now I will write answers for all PM's. I hope you all are fine!

Hi everyone!

Due to large non-Patreon workload this month, I will pause Patreon billing processing for March, so no funds will be charged for March.

If I understand correctly, you will continue to receive new content. New patrons will be able to subscribe at my Patreon page as usual.

During this month, I plan to complete most of unfinished requests.

Changes in tiers

These changes are caused by the fact that last year I have a constant decline on Patreon, people unsubscribe from 5 and 10 tiers and subscribe to 1 tier, which led to the fact that now I don't have enough patreon money for rent, food and software. So I have to make changes in rewards, or look for an additional source of income.

What's planned:

1$ tier will give access to polls and WIP materials, number of which will be increased. There is no more access to any other content.

5$ tier without changes: instant access for new pictures, but access to new animations one week later.

$10 tier without changes, with instant access to new animations and pictures.

Also I plan to add a new tier for all old content access, but if you were subscribed to my Patreon in 2018 or 2019 - just ask me for links in PM!

This format can be used for more dynamic scenes. You can see whole scene at 360 degrees in VR! But there is a problem: MP4 can't be more than 4096 pixels on the side, this animation already need more than 5000 pixels, which is why final picture can be a little blurred in VR.

This is new hair test animation. Animation was almost finished before, but for some reason I forgot about it 0.o In the process of rendering it turned out that GPU render and CPU render give slightly different picture, this problem has been solved.

I can't imagine how somebody can completely switch to a new 3D soft. Although visualization takes a significant part in the work, but it's not so difficult in fact. However, many small problems arose in the process and all of them had to be solved. I got a delay of two+ weeks, next month I will try to restore my schedule.

Within 1-2 days I will start sending invitations to the discord server.

New hair system was harder to use than I thought. When hair looked good in the render, it was impossible to work with it in the 3d program. But now everything is fine and I can finish
big animation that I start a month ago.

In attached video you can see new hair rendering in real time. This was impossible without GPU acceleration. I'm still using an old video card at the moment, so it lagging but work!

And another announcement: during week I'll start discord server for 5$ and 10$ patrons! There you will be able to track my daily progress, ask questions and see every small steps of progress (in a additional spoilers-chat room).

So, I need to reduce render time. To do this, I bought a new computer based on Ryzen 7 processor. It 3-6 times faster and 6-12 times more economical in electricity consumption compared to old one. But it was still not enough, so I combined both computers (new and old) into a network, see Fig 1. Old computer could be unstable, so I kept important files on the new one, which was also a file server. This all worked well in render, but caused a lot of problems in the process of creating animations: my software lagged due to use of hundreds of network paths.

Because of this, I wanted to merge file server and workstation into one device. This would work well, but to have time to do at least one long animation per month, I need at least four render nodes (not purchased yet). It would be very expensive. Cost of one node is about 2000 USD, even with help of patrons I'll need up to four months to buy one node. Main part of funds is needed for software, see Fig 3.

So I decided to try something completely new - a GPU rendering. It's still far from CPU rendering, but it already supports almost all features I need. It is known that GPU rendering supports hair, it will be a different hair system, most likely new hair will look better than current. Also it's known that GPU rendering doesn't support 180 degree camera yet, it needed for VR animations, so VR still need to be rendered in CPU mode. It's also not known how GPU rendering will increase speed of rendering. I haven't had time to do a full GPU render test on a real scene yet, only small tests. And GPU render has very unpleasant oddities, for example it smoothes sharp contours of objects, but I think it can be solved.

So what is advantage of GPU rendering? - I don't have to buy a render nodes! I will only need one computer with 1-2 graphics cards and one set of software that I have already bought. This solution is much cheaper!

I want to fully test GPU rendering on new animation and if all goes well, buy a new graphics card (my current card is almost six years old).

Also, I finally fixed my VR headset! Hurray! :D

Render time is killing me! I spent one day for assembling scene and four days for rendering! So I slightly reduced quality of the render and it began to work three times faster. Today I will post other pictures from this set, some of them are made in high quality render, others are in lower quality. I wonder if the difference will be visible? (lower quality is noticeable by noise).

Cross-Eye 3D

You can watch 3D pictures and animation without VR headset. Someone asked me to make an animation/picture in this format. It requires some practice, but it works!

How I watch this:

Open cross-Eye video (using usual player and monitor), looking at picture, I start to look at my nose. At the same time, picture in monitor blurs into two pictures (four Pinkie Pie figures appear), at some point two figures in the center converge together, but it's still looks blurry. Next, I concentrate at some detail, such as eye or ear and at some point image becomes clear and three-dimensional! 3D effect is weaker than in VR, but it's definitely present!

I apologize for the delay. Main (naked) version of Dash picture is still being visualized, it is third day! O.o I hope that it will be completed tomorrow. But good news is, I got your donations and I'm going to spend it on hardware upgrade this week! I already have several animations ready, but not visualized and I expect to be able finish all of them with help of new hardware!

I had to do this animation because I need to solve all problems with rendering of normal and VR animations from one file (previously I had to create different files for normal and VR versions).

Here you can download WIP preview of this animation, at the moment only VR version. The final versions will be ready during the day!

There are still some problems, such as a real frame rate is only 30 frames per second (need 60), but otherwise I fully understand how to make VR versions of animations. Also, 180 degree panorama videos give a much better view: you can see hands and even wings, head and boobies, unlike a simple flat video.

Human strikes again! Nopony can stop this beast! (I don't really have another male model yet).

I really want to make additional expressions for Rarity, but it will take an additional days for rendering... Maybe I will finish this animation after hardware upgrade: add emotions, new camera angles and sound.

What type of wings do you prefer?

What I like in

Feathered: good detalization.

Cartoon style: canonical form.

No wings at all: you will see more details of anatomy!

What I not like:

Feathered wings are hard for my computer. Rendering of animation take hundreds of hours.

Cartoon style: small and accurate, but still cover body details

No wings: some top artists don't make wing for winged characters and this doesn't prevent to enjoy the arts.

What are you think, please take part in the voting, this will help me to determine style.

Right now I plan to use feathered wings for epic scenes, and smaller wings (canonic style) for other scenes.

Rendering takes weeks of continuous work of my computer. For example, this 6 second animation took about 120 hours. I really need to think about upgrading, my 7-years PC is really slow for this (ס_ס;)
