I'm surprised it has been over a month since we've talked about Friendship with Benefits. I didn't realize time had gone so fast!

Truth is, I thought it'd be released today, but the reviewing process on Steam has taken a little longer than expected due to a few unforeseen mistakes on my end.

Currently I'm hoping for an October 20th release of the Steam version for $10.99. (There will also be a $20 post, but I recommend the Steam version so you can get updates without staying pledged at the $20 tier.)

Here's a little reminder of what to look forward to:

- New City Area with its own artwork

- New Deep Forest area: Visit with all the equipment from the market, meet a new character and a returning one for three new sexy scenes!

- New Market Stall: Meet a dragon girl! With two sexy scenes!

- Revised FInal Route: Elements involving Sundowner, now called 'Penelope' have been altered to give her a more satisfying character arc and conclusion.

- Church Route: For those that still haven't seen the church yet, there's several sex scenes to enjoy!

- 100% Completion Bonus: I had a few people asking about an ending, so I have a small scene that hopefully people can enjoy. It's not exactly some big revelation or story, but the 'final' route was supposed to be the soft ending anyway, this is just a cool extra.

- 100+ Edits on the Script: Ever been trying to fap and a typo kills the mood? Well, no more! It took literally weeks but I managed to comb through the entire script to fix hopefully every single mistake.

Plans for the Future:

I will have a more detailed post regarding this in the future. Updating FwB will be easy once it's on Steam, so there may be some fixes, additions and what not. I actually have one more 100% completion bonus idea lingering in my mind that I'll only call "Backstage" for now.

Otherwise, I want to take a small break from game developing to do some 'homework' for my next project called 'Monster Girl Paradise', which will be a game of a similar format to Friendship with Benefits, but a larger emphasis on certain aspects, and possibly the addition of a stats system that can determine your success in certain speech options. Think dialogue in Fallout New Vegas.

I hope everyone has enjoyed FwB 1.0X, I've received tons of great feedback and comments and I've even gone ahead and made a lot more changes to what we previously had.

You may have seen above that something's a little weird about the characters... they're coloured slightly differently! Allow me to explain, FwB 1.0X marks a 'finished' product in many ways, 1.0X will always exist as a patreon post here to be downloaded at any time with the original look.Additionally, 1.10 will be released in a $20 post on Patreon.

Moving forward, I felt like a more original look would be necessary for the Steam release of '1.10', to better distinguish Friendship with Benefits as a unique product and dodge the ire of angry million dollar corporations that thought my character's skin colour was a little too purple.

This has been a massive undertaking.

Half the cast have been given new and unique colour schemes, several characters have been renamed, tons of character art and sex scenes have been recoloured and even improved in quality. I've even adopted a more modern methodology to help reduce the filesize of the game and because of this 1.10 actually has a smaller file size so far than 1.0x did.

But that's not all, I couldn't help myself and I've decided to add a few extra things to make the Steam release a little more enticing:

Planned 1.10 Content:

- A New City menu not unlike the world map with its own artwork (see above)

- new "Deep Forest" area featuring a MILF Zebra named Zoe, three sex scenes over two CG with her. The Alraune shall also make a reappearance in this area with an additional sex scene.

- New "Muffin" Market Stall: a dragoness named Cindy has set up shop selling muffins. But they're horrendously overpriced! Just what is this girl up to? Featuring two sex scenes with some variance of lingerie and penetrative options.

- Slightly Revised "Final Route": Sundowner, now 'Penelope' will feature more strongly in a new version of the finale which introduces an additional scene with some subtle changes to pre existing scenes, to help strengthen her character arc.

- New "100% Completion" Bonus: a lot of people have been requesting some closure for the game, since upon completion the main character floats in a limbo of repeating dialogue for all eternity. Well, remember that huge eight person sauna picture I spent three days drawing and forgot to use? There will be an ending which leads to credits and the main menu, but you'll still have the ability to load your save and continue. This provides some closure while staying true to the game's core themes.

- The Church Route: Still haven't seen the church route? The steam version is the perfect and most polished opportunity to see what the fuss is about. Featuring the game's only futa x female scenes, double pen and a crazy nun gal.

- 100+ Edits of the Script: Typos, rewrites, consistency changes, grammar, you name it. The entire script is being carefully combed over to give the game a professional polish.

Transferring Saves:

Transferring your saves is as easy as copying over all the files from the newest version and overwriting the old, your saves will remain in-tact.

Alternatively you can copy and backup your saves in the FriendshipwithBenefits\game\saves folder, or from Users\*name*\AppData\Roaming\RenPy \FriendshipwithBenefits

Notes on $20 DLC:

Anyone that has ever pledged $20 at least once will be able to access this via direct message and/or patreon post.

However, the next version, the Steam version will include everything for $10.99, so no rush.

Future of FwB:

The game will continue to get support for bugs, and fixes until a fully polished version of 1.0x exists

The next goal is a '1.1' which will be the steam version, which will feature many changes to better suit copyright. Including more extreme name, colour and song changes. In other words, this v1.0 version of FwB may be very unique and special, enjoy it!

The next game?

I have already planned out my next game, it'll be called "Monster Girl Paradise", set in hell and it'll build upon the ideas and experience I've had during my time with FwB. I plan for MGP to be much bigger and much better, with a much longer development plan.

I also plan to make MGP a proper cRPG game, with meaningful choices, stats, perks. With enough depth that multiple playthroughs can actually feel unique.

The next update plans to add:

- Complete overhaul of the City, with several new locations to visit, including a nightclub to pick-up more girls, a church for the $20 bonus and an art gallery to view previously seen CG - (75% complete)

How long? - It'll be about five hours of new content in total.

Why? - It's called the 1.0 update because it marks the end of all planned content. There will still be additional updates past 1.0, with 1.1 planned to be the Steam release.

When? - There's no real ETA for the release, but it's getting done.

Some clarification about the $20 bonus:

Anyone that pledges $20 at least once in their account's lifetime, will forever receive bonus content in my games as promised when the Patreon was first setup years ago. For FwB this content is the 'church' route which features a route with some extra sex scenes. It's a bit like DLC, although for $5 patrons it'd be an extra $15 which is a little steep, I'll admit.

If this game is released on Steam, it'll be about ~$10, maybe you can post some price suggestions in the comments. It'll also include this bonus content by default. So you don't have to pledge extra if you don't want to, you can just wait for the steam version.

There's only one edit for this juggernaut. This image is gonna be stuck at the end of the game replacing the current endings with a more open one. Additionally, background versions have been attached for 1080p and 1440p.

The .psd is as big as I could possibly make it under the 200mb limit. The original is 600mb!!! However, this 200mb is big enough for you to do whatever you want with.

To swap between original and FwB there are three layers called 'OG' in the 'colour' folder, click on all three and boom.

Thanks to my new PC, everything is gonna be in higher resolution! Although that means the file sizes are also slightly larger. Is that worth it? Probably!

I'm ideally looking for progression mechanics and ideas to make the give the game a more interesting gameplay loop. I've implemented money, and a few shops and I want to experiment with more progression and 'upgrade' systems. One example I want to add to the next update is a music studio that lets you listen to music. Another that's currently in-game is the Crystal Ball that lets you view scenes again. The game is very flexible.

Just a small day 1 patch with a few fixes:

- Added local multiplayer

- Fixed a few bugs where certain variables aren't defined, especially when using the 'ibeat0.2' password.

- Tons of typing fixes

- Added a forgotten horn onto a certain sex scene

- Added extra options to Butters's evening menus to streamline things slightly

- Prevented you visiting Butters in the evening before her route is completed, the game assumed you had already completed her route resulting in problems

- Removed evening world map fluff dialogue

How to update:

Copy and paste the new files over to the old version and replace 'em all, easy peasy.

Alternatively you can copy your friendshipwithbenefits/game/save files over to the new 0.41 folder.

If you're on Android, I have absolutely no idea, consider plugging it into your computer and manipulating the files that way.

It's been a month since FwB 0.2's release, so here's an update!

I held a poll asking which routes you'd like to see next, the winners were The Forest and The Library! Featuring Dusklight, Sundowner, Celeste, Selene, Butters and Poyo! You guys voted for the largest and most complicated routes!! :D

I've completed: The entire library route is now done! Five new sex scenes, with planned epilogue content...

What's epilogue content? It's an opportunity to interact with characters after you've finished their route. You can talk to characters, have sex with them, and have unique interactions with them. Having these epilogues makes the game feel more open and lively.

Some routes have been extended slightly, for example Anna now has a mini-route and there are a few extra planned scenes with Melody,

I have this left to do: I'll be doing the forest route next, of which there is absolutely no art prepared for! So it may take a month or so to finish.

There is now a night world map, however it has no content right now, I want to add some night-time opportunities and events for 0.3, particularly in the bar.

TL;DR

- The next update will more than double the amount of content in the game.
- Now there's a night and day world map with unique interactions
- You can talk and sleep with characters after finishing their route
- It'll take about a month to finish

I've decided that I want to add epilogue scenes to all characters, allowing you to interact with characters after completing their route, talk to them and engage in new slightly randomized sex scenes. This may include affection mechanics and lots of extra subtle content. Each character may have 2-3 extra sex scenes and 4-5 extra scenes if you talk to them so you'll really get a chance to engage with your fave characters more.

This in a sense is the real "Friendship with Benefits" update which lets you be friends, and enjoy benefits post-story. This will be added later on along with the other two voted in routes. The evening might even be altered to give more freedom, allowing you to freely talk, sex Moxie at your leisure rather than having a scripted linear encounter.

PS: Princess routes will be coming later, they're kinda like secret routes with prerequisites so they can't be added now!

Patch Notes:

- Removed the transition noise when you fall asleep after Moxie's sex scene, near the end of the introduction.

- Added a line in the intro that says the player gets a satchel to carry around items and money, so you no longer have to stick all the money you earn in your asscheeks

- Fixed over 100 typing errors

- Replaced 'Voice' in the sound options and integrated the ambience noises innto the 'Sound' mixer allowing players to control the noise of birbs, crickets and the sex scene noises

- Removed the mirrored Honeycrisp character sprites that briefly show up due to the fact her cast changes hands.

- Removed a .sai file that was included in the game files (-150mb lol). Updating the game by replacing files WILL NOT REMOVE THIS, if you'd like to delete it, it's FriendshipwithBenefits-0.21-pc\game\images\Blossom_Sex.sai2.

- Your Save Files were kept in %APPDATA\RenPy\FriendshipwithBenefits-1566075586. This has been updated to just be %APPDATA\RenPy\FriendshipwithBenefits from now on. This is quite important because this game is designed to be updated and playable with older saves, and since I changed the folder you may have to manually move 0.20 saves

- Fixed tons of typos and small typing errors, over 40 different ones because I'm a mess.

- Updated the consistency of Melody's name appearing in her introduction despite the player not knowing it yet.

- Updated Honeycrisp's sex CG to match the wrist injury in her character art by mirroring all the images.

- Updated Moxie's horny face to be hornier and more confident.

- Changed the rollback text feature from about 50 to 3

- Changed the music for Moxie's magic show and the scene afterwards

- Removed all the auto-saves that were on version 0.2 by default, these allowed the password to be bypassed

- Tons of boring minor fixes

Note: Skipping transitions in the options results in in all transitions being skipped, including the splash screens, characters dissolving in and out, overall it just makes the game look weird, so I don't recommend it.
