Leave it. It's an imageboard, not board for images.

Depends on the board. In /f/, then a good discussion on the + and - of an image is fun and healthy. Even someone who hates the artist can be a positive to a post, as it open up discussion.

But on a board like /fc/, where there are continuous posts as a comic is updated, then the arguments get old very quickly. Hearing the same crap from trolls (or in the case of the 'Better Late than Never' comic, one obsessed troll) just wrecks the thread.

I remember when that particular comic was cleaned up last time, with all text comments removed (as well as off-topic images), and it was a big relief. It's overdue to happen again.

So, yeah.. horses for courses. Long term threads with obvious trolling and negativity should be cleaned up regularly. But leave the shorter term threads alone. IMO.

If you allow people to report threads that get too cluttered, whatever good intentions there are, the system will be abused. Every butt-hurt furry will would report anything that dared to ridicule their hindquarters. Also it opens the floor for mods to get inundated with a myriad of reports from every “good Samaritan” who has differing ideological views of when the thread has veered off topic.

Though if we go with the other end of the spectrum, we’d have threads that are filled with pointless bickering that only interest a handful of people while everyone else would be happy to see that thread drop into the obscurity that is page 2.

I am of the opinion that peps shouldn’t be allowed to report cluttered threads unless there is an obvious reason. The decision to clean threads should be left to the mods discretion, because although there are more than one of you guys, and all with differing tolerance levels, there are a lot less of you than the snivelling masses; all of them with their own soap box and opinion.

tl;dr
If you mods think it’s gotten out of hand, clean it up. If not, then leave it.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll go back into relative obscurity.

As far as I know there are only 2 mods and myself really doing anything anymore on the boards along with the few janitors now running around. I will let this thread brew for about another day before I lock it and forget it it; and get a broader spectrum if anyone wants to comment why threads should remain clean and on topic. As far as I am concerned I do not want to be like F-Chan. Simplicity is what I want.

And if I or the mods leave posts or threads as is; leave it alone as it is law. Basically Deal with it.

FChan is auctally a good place for art/furry critique. It's only real problem is the bans on some art types, and the correspondingly low number of users because of this.

I visit these boards for images. Especially updated comics.
As such, sometimes it's hard to find updates in piles of messages.

So yeah, discussion deletion, I am all for it!

I think if the conversation is actually going somewhere, remains relevant, and maybe there's some hilarious images in between I don't see the problem.

When people start spouting nonsense and do NOTHING BUT TROLL AND COMPLAIN then please PLEASE clean it up. I'm here every day, and I do like this place clean.

As for my verdict. I will let things be as is. If there is too much mess in between posts to where it ruins the thread, then I'll clean it up. As for trolling, I will allow it to and extent but...I have a interesting proposal for you all.

If you decide to troll and it is in poor taste or poorly done, I will ban you for a day from the site.(This will exclude posts on the New Board as that is what the board was really intended for)

Let me know what you think of this, as I view it more as a timeout for stupidity rather than punishment. Maybe a day is too long or too short...Who knows but I like this idea, let me know what you think.

as being guilty of a few troll posts myself I would totally stand by that rule/proposition.I think one day is perfect so long as it dose not escalate to more then 24 hours,it's a porn site and you wont miss out on anything by not checking in for a day.

In terms of threads,trolled images and conversations are fine,calling someone out for being a dumbass fine,saying you don't like a certain artist,comic,picture fine. the thing that bugs me is that when the thread consists of all that done by the same person at the same time in multiple posts in a row.I personally find people carrying on verbose "ligitintellectual oN t0pic duscsh0n" for more than maybe four posts just as annoying as trolling and people who get an entire thread thrown out because somebody made them feel sad :.( BUT if a thread gets over crowded all posts on or off topic should be deleted of course with the exception of posts directly containing topic related content.

on a side note...Maybe introduce a tattletale rule where if people go around reporting/reciting every rule violation they should get a however many day ban.

I think that usually the mods/admins should probably concentrate on the tackling spammers and i.e., random camgirl pic plus link posts and wrong content on the wrong board like dick on /clean/.To often i see that this stuff can be up for days at a time before it's taken down.
Argument among users should give an opportunity to resolve themselves mods should only step in if they feel there becoming serious/bloody stupid (like death threats and such)

I kind happy to hear Foxcroft say that he doesn't what pawsru to be like Fchan.The net already has one Fchan it doesn't another smaller more empty version.I like the direction paws is going moving away from being a mostly furry porn cite to trying to be more community based.
