How to quote/reply/give reference properly?
How to bold, italic, strike, spoiler etc?
How to delete your own posts?
How to figure out an image source from the original filename (if the filename have FA/DA/e621-like structure)?

>How to quote/reply/give reference properly?

To quote a portion of text, simply place a pointer (">") in front of the text you wish to highlight.
>example
To link to and highlight an entire post, place two pointers in front of its unique post number (ex. >>4719).
Cross-linking to another section is also possible, by placing two pointers before a section name, followed by a post number (ex. >>/fc/1).
>> No. 4726 ID: 911994
>>4721
>How to make the text appear bold, italic, strike, spoiler etc?

Place your text between these tags
[b][/b] - makes the text appear bold
[i][/i] - makes the text appear italic
[u][/u] - underlines the text
[s][/s] - strikes the text through
[spoiler][/spoiler] - hides the text until you hover over it with a mouse pointer or highlight it
[code][/code] - changes the font to monospace (Courier)

>How to delete your own posts?

When you submit a post, you have the option of entering a deletion password in the [Password] field. If you do not specify a password, one will be automatically generated for you and cookied to your browser. As long as your browser retains this cookie, you will be able to delete posts made using it (the box should appear to be filled in automatically). Deletion is carried out similar to reporting. To delete your post(s), check the box in the upper lefthand corner of the specific post(s) you wish to remove, and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the [Delete] button. The password field should be automatically filled in. If it is not, you must manually enter in the password you selected. Checking the [X File Only] box will cause only the image to be deleted, leaving the comment untouched.

>How to figure out an image source from the original filename (if the filename have FA/DA/e621-like structure)?

Each art website (deviantArt, FurAffinity, etc.) and general image posting site (e621 etc.) has its own file naming scheme. If you’re lucky, the posted image will retain its original filename, making the original source (mostly) easy to find.

Art websites:

deviantArt.com:
Filename: [title of art piece; all non-alphanumeric chars replaced with underscores]_by_[artist name, same deal with the underscores]-d[base-36 code].[jpg/gif/png/whatever]
Artist's page: http://[artist_name].deviantart.com
>Filename example: maid_you_look_by_cookingpeach-d4kv52x.jpg
>Artist's page example: http://cookingpeach.deviantart.com
Art page: http://[artist name].deviantart.com/art/[title of art piece, with hyphens instead of underscores]-[the base-36 code converted to base-10] OR http://[artist name].deviantart.com/gallery/#/d[base-36 code]
>Art page example: http://cookingpeach.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4kv52x

FurAffinity.net:
Filename: [10-digit number, usually starts with 1].[artist name]_[misc. words relating to pic].[jpg/gif/png/whatever]
Artist's page: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/[artist_name]
>Filename example: 1325374729.miupix_jambooty.jpg
>Artist's page example: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/miupix

e621.net
Filename: [32 alphanumeric chars; i.e. md5 hash of an image].[jpg/gif/png/whatever]
Filename example: 470a5b1fdb60cbeb1477849e701667f0.jpg
To find the source via e621.net you need to do this:
Go to e621.net, in the search field enter: md5:[32 alphanumeric chars] or just enter this link http://e621.net/post?tags=md5:[32 alphanumeric chars] in the browser address bar.
>Example: http://e621.net/post?tags=md5:470a5b1fdb60cbeb1477849e701667f0
If this image exists in the e621 database you will be given thumbnailed image. Click on the thumbnail to get full-size image page, on the left side in the Source field most likely will be shown source.
>Example: http://e621.net/post/show/186067/ass_up-elbow_gloves-feather_duster-feathers-female
>Source: furaffinity.net/full/7131705/

I want to know what the DNP list is. That way people might actually read it and not waste everybody's' fucking time with something that'll get deleted anyway. :D
>> No. 4734 ID: 9691e9
>>4731
Is there really any formal DNP to begin with? I'm pretty sure I've seen Bernal/sexyfur on here numerous times and those are normally the first to warrant a ban after he selects one of his vast lawyers from his dungeon of doom.

Couldn't imagine a lengthy DNP, if at all...

>>4734
>Is there really any formal DNP to begin with?
IIRC,
6 pages or so (that were included in paid version) of Rukis "Cruelty" comic;
John Martello (OmegaLtd) comics;
Miranda Leigh stuff (not confirmed, but I was banned once for posting some of her comics);
Hardblush content (probably, not sure if onta is still mod here);
Palcomix VIP/Mobius Unleashed/Digihentai/maybe some TJA stuff (probably, not sure if Krezz Karavan is still mod here).
>> No. 4736 ID: 9691e9
>>4735
So basically a DNP only applies to whoever is currently on staff? Huh
>> No. 4739 ID: 3a5cef
Scat and Gore are definitely DNP

I'm only just letting the diaper thread in /m/ survive unless Bart or someone else wants to remove it.

I didn't even know there was a diaper thread...ugh. IF it gets out of hand it's out of here.

As for everyone else thanks for the feedback I will pretty it up in the FAQ in a bit.
>> No. 4745 ID: 744bc4
>>4739
what about vore?
>> No. 4747 ID: 19400c
Im no fan of vore, that is some fucked up shit. But as for DNP I am for no scat, bloody, or vore. I need more input from all my moderators and the community to decide some of these key things as the site develops.

Also I have used yalls info on this thread to make the FAQ. Take a look tell me what yall think and we will go from there.
>> No. 4776 ID: 295956
I'm for no blood, gore or vore, but as some might disagree, there might be an argument for the equivalent of Fchan's /ah/.

As to the diaper thread: diapers aren't one of my fetishes, but they don't bug me as long as there's no scat. Problem is, what do the mods do when someone(s) who don't like the subject matter in an iffy thread try to surreptitiously get it killed? I.e. people who don't like wet diapers begin adding scat pics to the thread in hopes that the mods kill it-- I'll argue for close monitoring on borderline threads, so that people can't intentionally poison the pot.

Also... I know Pawsru tolerates trolling. Fine with me. But I don't go to /theNewBoard/ and try to hold meaningful conversations. Can the mods please try to keep (major) trolling OFF locations like /dis/? I like having a board for discussion without trolling and another for discussion with, and making sure they stay separate.
>> No. 4777 ID: e71a0f
>>4776
What do you mean by trolling? Define it's majorness.
>> No. 4794 ID: 295956
Hard to remember specific incidents. But usually, a thread like, "Hey, I'm new to the fandom, any advice?" gets one or two serious responses, and a lot of sarcastic commentary on the cesspool of rotten garbage that supposedly is the furry fandom, thinly disguised at advice - or not disguised at all.
>> No. 4801 ID: 9691e9
>>4776
I think Sai once said that trolling is tolerated in /dis/ as long as it doesn't get blown out of proportion (spam, inappropriate pictures, etc) Although I guess it's really up to foxcroft now
>> No. 4811 ID: 295956
I'm fine with light stuff... but when 90% of the posts in a thread are trolling - like the aforementioned, "Hi, I'm new here" threads - it gets tiresome.

How about either fixing the board so that one does need to reload pages to see the new stuff or putting somathing like "Try to reload each page to see if the new stuff is there." in FAQ. Or is it just my browsers? (Firefox, old or up to date, Windows 7 or XP, doesn't matter.)

Im the no gore, scat side too.
But I feel more strongly about the bleedy, stabby, choppy, sad, murder, death shit.
scat is more like "oh that's unpleasant" *moves on*.
yeah,Someone should throw a DNP list up.
>> No. 4937 ID: 19400c
So what I got so far from everyone that is DNP...

Scat
Gore(this could be in subsections and go deeper)
Vore
Diapers(I am not for this unless someone objects)

Any more before I put it on the FAQ?

IMO I would not DNP vore/diapers; messy stuff is already covered with gore/scat and if it is NOT gorey/scatty, who cares. Less rules is more.
>> No. 4958 ID: ba1919
>>4937
Why don't just make another board for this kind of rather strange fetishes?

I don't like this stuff either.
>> No. 4968 ID: 2fae01
Just keep banning everything you personally don't like and keep driving people to the better furry *chans that you fell behind already.

I hope not!

Now this is an interesting point to me as i have in the past and am often tempted to deviate from drawing purely furry art on Drawfags.
>> No. 4999 ID: 6a0951
Heavy-handed moderation in an attempt to control trolling is a sure fire way to kill off any fun and spontaneity in an online community. I am for maintaining the current levels of moderation in that regard (and in my opinion, it could even be slackened).

As for vore, it should be allowed as long as it's not too extreme, or at least banished to /theNewBoard/. Get rid of it completely and we'd lose a lot of good sergal art.

Check out the somethingawful forums where the goons hang out. Minimal trolling, fun forum, best general forum out there. You don't need a lot of trolling/retarded 4chan pictures to have fun, unless you're under 18. And good trolls are a rarity these days.

This.
It's all about the community though. Not the ones who run it generally. I am also pretty laid back...But no mercy for spambots. I'm only out for what the community wants, as in if there's no community...there's no site to run.

Comparing the Chan boards to a Bulletin message broads is like comparing trekkies and star wars fans. There's always going to be less trolling on the message boards because for most of them you have to register and people are less likely to assholes when it can bite them in the butt.
The Chan boards offer a kind of freedom that bulletin boards don't a kind of more causal easy going less time consuming community.
I often got to the point were i thought about avoiding the chan's alltoghter.I registered with the 2000ad bulletin board and was tempted to register with fur owas, but they just don't appeal to me i like it here at paws and although it needs a fer bit of work and it a bit dead at the moment it all come down to what looking for the chan's and Vboards offer different thing for different people.

If you'd like I can show you a greasemonkey script you can use on FF as a quick fix. I still don't have the ability to look at the script for the site so it's the only thing I can do ATM.
