There should be an invisible prim attachment that came with that outfit which would hit the straight legs, allowing your digi legs to properly show.

*which would hide*

If you cannot find the attachment in the inventory folder, you could make your own invis prim.
Build an object on the ground where an area allows you to rez objects.
Resize the object to where it will hit the straight part of your leg, bring the object into your inventory and add it to your legs. "Add to ...." (you can wear multiple objects on each attachment point by selecting "Add to".
In the object Build settings, you can make the object into an invis prim which will hide your straight legs.

I am terrible at giving directions, I would log into world and help you but I am in an area with internet that does not support Second Life. Will be a week or two before I get more stable internet.

Try asking the question here:
http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Your-Avatar/bd-p/YourAvatar
or you could do it in world, open the destination guide while logged into Second Life, look through the beginner welcome places.

Caledon University has a tutorial and holds classes on building. I am not sure if the tutorial covers what you are looking for but it can help. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Oxbridge/92/198/28

Another place would be NCI (New Citizen Incorperated) There are always people there that will help with with everything. They can help you with your problem. Keep in mind though that there are usually 30 or more people in that area and it is on the mainland so you may get some lag. http://tinyurl.com/ojp5ns4
