It is pretty pointless but useful when it's there...I dunno it's been windows thing since the windows phone came out. The problem is not all your shit is there if you need a program that isn't pinned on the start menu. You have to go find it manually and it's a pain. I prefer it over mac's OS any day though.

Windows 8 is shit, and it will always be shit, for desktop PCs. It is an OS made specifically for tablet PCs, and Microsoft wants to force it on EVERYONE.

Ubuntu was too crashy, the releases are inconsistent, canonical seems to have no clue what they are doing, and Unity kinda sucks. Also, mint is pretty much just as mainstream as Ubuntu. Mint seems to have a good reputation for stability, and it has been more stable than Ubuntu so far. Linux is in no way worse than Windows, it just dosen't have the support it does, and the vast number of distro may be off-putting to some. I dual-boot Mint and Win7.
