What anthro, if any, would you be? What color fur or scales would you have? Explore your inner furry and share with all of us. Just post a pick of your prefered fur!

To start us all of, my prefered anthro would be the Red Fox! (Image by taurinfox)

They allways say that the best way to become a better artist is to "practice practice practice" but untill this year that never really worked for me.I've been doodeling in skech books for the past ten year and all my art still looks like the same crap it was ten year ago but this year i finally clued to the problem doodeling in skech books doesn't count as practice,i've found for my self that if i whant to get better i actillay have to have an idea and then set to put it on paper rather than the constet randomness of what ive been doning.

I just want to be able to draw him the way I see him in my mind. But according to one of my artsy fartsy friends that is really hard to do.

I have the same problem my friend, I figured that if you make tens and tens of sketches of the same person, eventually you get so used to drawing him/her that you could focus on what was more detailed

A dragon all the way. Huge wings, glossy black scales, and breathes fire. Yeah, something like that.

I'd be a red/pink snow leopard. I don't know, it's my fursona. I draw quite good but my tablet just broke, so... >_>

Ok, for this next topic, tell me and all else who would read this thread, what your favroite fantsy (I'm to tired to spell right now) is. For starters, this does not have to be sexual, it can be what ever you want it to be. Take me for example. I would be a red fox anthro on a specialized team task with hunting down threats to civilan life. Going deep behind hostile lines undercover, looking for the most dangerous crimnals and warlords.

Post very detailed storysm of just give us a general idea. Let your minds roam free, there is no judgment here.

I'd be the young leader of a talented mercenary team, made mostly of skilled pilots and a servitudinal robot, we would be called team GalaxyDogs.
Called in as the last line of defense to save our homeplanet and indeed the galaxy, we fly around in a large spacecraft carrier named the Capital Dog and battle enemy forces using our advanced Orwing fighters. Our foes would include Train Drivers, the rival mercenary team called SpaceTiger, and a giant floating Monkey head named Anondross.
We would be in hire of General Salt and also have friends to help such as Bill Gates and Marilyn Monroe.
I would personally take the battle to Anondross and avenge the dissapearance of my presumed dead Father.

Just for future ref. I'd rather be friends with my fursona, not be him.
I would be in a team of defenders, the S.T.A.A.R. (Special Tacticaly Advanced Alien Response) team. Each would have their own elemental power to control and master, and together we would all defend Earth and the human race from all who seek to destroy it. I would be leader of the team with the lightning element. We would command advanced units of marines equiped with the most powerful, and secret, weaponry of my dreams. We would have fleets of space carriers capable of porting anywhere we need, and bringing a load of firepower with us. We would be defenders of peace and stability working for a better human (and any sentient being) existence. We would bring peace between races throughout the universe broadening our horizons of culture technology, and love.
But alas these are only the fantasies brought about by sleep
pic related because space ships.

A fox. Just a plain, plantigrade fox, about 5'5, lean but muscular. So, basically me minus 6 inches and plus fur and a tail.

This brings up something I've thought about for a long time. Have any of you ever stopped and actually THOUGHT about the logistics of being a furry?

OK, I realize that in a conversation about wanting to be half human, half animal thinhgs, logic kinda waved bye-bye a long time ago, but think about it. Example, for all you avians, how would you be able to talk? Would you have lips behind your beak? If not, how would you be able to form sounds that require you to use your lips if all you have is a beak? Even canines like me would require some modifications to the muzzle. Or for anyone who like digitigrade, wouldn't that be akward to walk around on? Digitigrade is made for quadrapedal(sp?) movement, so wouldn't it be too complicated? or for furries like myself, how would we be able to handle the heat? I'm a US soldier, and I keep thinking, what would happen if I was a fox, and they deployed me to the desert?! Walking around in 125 degree heat with fur does NOT sound like fun! Scalies, would you be cold-blooded?

Again, I KNOW this is all pointless, but it's a fun thought experiment. Besides, this is a furry board, pointless is kind of what we do. :P Plus, for some reason, deep down I think that if I can justify all of this to make sense biologically or evolutionarily speaking, somehow it will make it actually happen. Like, Mother Nature, God, or whatever you prefer would say, "OK, you convinced me, that makes sense. Let's do it!"

And before you ask, no dammit, I'm NOT a virgin! :P

I've toyed with the idea that a furry society composed of the same species of animal would have a language composed mostly of non-word sounds and expressions. Standard canines can communicate a LOT just by growls/whines/barks, combined with movements of ears, face, and tail.

If all else fails, furries can simply use manual sign language, or just not have a spoken language; rather, they only have a written language. Whether this means that everyfur needs to carry around a small chalkboard to do day-to-day communication, isn't something I've figured out yet.

As for walking digitigrade, it sort of works. I can (kinda) do it on my human feet for short periods of time. The way I've seen it drawn in furry art is usually just to alter the posture and throw the knees forward so to keep balance. I am fairly sure it would be to extreme detriment to speed, stability, and joint strength, though. Possibly, a large, heavy tail would help with balance.

Lots of animals are able to manage heat while having fur. The way this works with real canines is having all or some of the following. 1) Panting, obviously. 2) Having large ears that radiate heat, especially noticible in Ferrec Foxes. 3) Being very small, again as Ferrecs, due to (I think? my math fails me) the square/cube law of surface-area to volume so as to cool more efficiently. 4) I am fairly sure the insulating undercoat can keep them cooler as well as warmer than their environment.

Because of this, the biggest hurdle a furry character would face is simply being human-sized. As you may know (and as I surely do, having been around Great Danes for many years) large-breed dogs overheat a lot easier than smaller dogs. A solution to this would either be having your furry character have HUGE ears (think like an elephant) or simply be smaller than they are usually portrayed. Perhaps 3' tall instead of 6' tall — more like Hobbits than Humans. It would work best for a society composed only of furries, not so much for one where there are humans, also. Though, it would make for an interesting Gulliver's Travels type story were a human to stumble upon them.

Anyway, as for my own furry nature, I went the long route and carefully chose (well, half-invented...) a species that closely fits my personality as well as my preferences. It is a hybrid of a Grey Fox and a Raccoon, with an excessively-complicated coloring design that you might imagine would result when one tries to cogently merge the natural coat patterns of two rather-unrelated species. He is digitigrade, has a long tail and very sharp claws (suitible for both climbing trees and self-defense). I'll draw him someday, when I feel like it and can actually draw a non-human character with decent results. Right now it wouldn't turn out very... pretty.

In october of 2011 a scientist was studying dogs. I was running an experiment on a husky to figure out how their hair grew so well. After grooming the pup, I dissolved some of the leftover fur in a solution of hydrochloric acid and other compounds. The accident happened when I turned around and spilled the beakers contents on myself. I fell to my knees. It burned, but the feeling was more of warmth than pain, and was spreading. Quickly I realized that hair was growing from my entire body. After a few minutes I was able to get back on my feet. When my eyes met the husky's, I understood what it was telling me, "You are now one of us, welcome to the pack."
Sciencefun has always been my online name, but now I have used it as a base for my fursona's story.

That is how I've imagined my transformation happening, it's unlikely, but possible, haha. As for what I would do, most likely I would just volunteer and do whatever I could to help people. If a person gave me a job, I'd take care of it, no problem :)

I was going to add in neutralizing it, but that was going to add a bit more length, and I figured after adding allof the other things that the HCL would be pretty dilute, haha

it could have been researching stem cells or gene manipulation or synthetic dna or any number of things which at least halfass make sense, why would you pick something as corny as "acid, dog fur and 'other compounds'"?

Sergal, I do not really feel any vibe towards animals. Infact the only animals i can stand as pets I'm glad I am not one. Its not so much I like animals so much as I do not like humans, skin/primate form and find the anthros in alot of furry art more endearing.

Even then theres a lot about Sergals I do not like. pessimistic, i know.

I'd love to be or at least be with my fursona. The Raccoon woman with the tentacles.
She is of a race I created for a story base I am cooking up. Sadly with FA being down I cannot link you the Journal with race information and I really could do with re writing it.
