So apparently hes posting his new stuff on a newsgroup called fur.artwork.erotica but I have no idea how you get on a newsgroup.

There's an app for that.

Ok...so how do I see the images?
>> No. 994 ID: db1e58
Google Groups stopped updating the fur.* groups like two years ago. You won't find this anywhere near there.

You want Usenet, these days, you pay for it.
>> No. 995 ID: 8b8b7e
Why should I pay for an outdated internet when I already pay for FIOS? Why Can't he just post his art on bloobunni.com? I don't get it. Its almost like he doesn't want people to see his stuff.
>> No. 996 ID: 280f2d
Anyone up for the task of collecting all his new stuff from there?

noobs... Get something like Thunderbird and add a newsgroup called "news.critter.net" Edit your subscriptions to include "fur.artwork.erotica" and you should be able to see stuff.

Assuming of course something didn't go wrong.

>noobs... Get something like Thunderbird

Thunderbird is not designed to work on pc's. Its a phone app. I know because I tried to install it and it crashes. I also tried to use Seamonkey last night to get onto the server and all the adult areas are locked.
>> No. 1003 ID: 8b8b7e
HA HA! I got Seamonkey to work. It must of been a server problem. I can get on the group now and I see all the images.

I can contribute to this! How to gain access to F.A.E

Step one: Download Thunderbird Portable and install it to a handy directory, such as C:\ThunderBird .

Step two: When you first run it, don't install a mail account the way the wizard suggests. Skip that bit. Instead, when you're up to the point you can use the menu-bar, you want to select, File, New, Other Account, which starts a wizard. Select newsgroup account, give it whatever name-and-address you want to be in your "From" field when you post, and then enter the news server news.critter.net . When that appears in the left tab, select it, and then click on 'Manage newsgroup subscriptions', and subscribe to any and all groups you want.

When you select 'get new messages' for the account, you'll probably want to download all the headers for each group, instead of just the default 500, so you can have a chance to browse through the old posts.
>> No. 1033 ID: 2032ff
the only problem is that he didn't post all of these on fur.artwork.erotica.
I'd probably just use this thread as my source

Thunderbird Portable DOES NOT work on PC's. Its an app for phones. Stop trying to push it.
All you have to do is get Seamonkey. You can't post comments, but you see the smut.

Wait, what? I use Thunderbird Portable on my PC every day.

Perhaps there is more than one app called Thunderbird Portable. The one I use is a portabelized version of the regular Mozilla Thunderbird PC application from PortableApps.com.
>> No. 1041 ID: c5f39f
PS. Mozilla Thunderbird (portable or otherwise) can be used as a news reader, though I prefer a dedicated news reader app.

PPS. I have never seen any of Doug's drawings show up in fur.artwork.erotica. Anyone know what author name he uses when he posts to usenet? I'd really like to create a watch filter for his posts.
>> No. 1043 ID: 2032ff
He just uses Doug Winger.

Thanks. Just pulled all the headers in fur.artwork.erotica going back a year. Pity, doesn't seem that Doug's posts are propagating to my usenet server.

All I know is I tried to install it and it failed to install. Seamonkey works for me so I am sticking with it.

how the fuck do i connect to fur.artwork.erotica with seamonkey? all i ever get is a page error.
>> No. 1067 ID: 8b8b7e
>>1066

Open Seamonkey and click on the white envelope at the bottom left. A second Window will appear. Click on "Create A New Account". A smaller window will open "New Account Setup" click on "Newsgroup Account" and hit next. Next it will say "Enter Name" just put a name in doesn't matter what. Then below that type in your email address. Click next. Now it should say "Server Information". Put in "news.critter.net" or "news1.tigerden.com". Click next. Now it will say "Account Name". Name it whatever. Doesn't really matter. I called mine "fur.artwork.erotica". Click next then finish. You should see it appear on the left in bold.Double click the name and sub names should appear. Look for "fur.artwork.erotica" and right click on it. Now hit "Get messages". A list should appear. The newest messages are on the bottom. Double click them to open.

I've been following several USENET groups for quite some years and fur.artwork.erotica used to be a moderated group that would contain just furry artwork but a few years ago it, somehow, lost the moderation and has been flooded with girl nudes. Not bad to look at but definitely would have been off topic in the old days.

I see in this thread mention of a furaffinity link and will try there.
>> No. 1072 ID: e4a326
i did all that but when i hit get messages, all i get is 'Connection to server news.fur.com timed out.' over and over. is the server only up at spasific times of the day?
>> No. 1074 ID: 514eaf
I'm mistaken and not mistaken. If I try to access fur.artwork.erotica through my normal USENET server on my ISP all I get are these nude girls BUT if I set up a new USENET account on Thunderbird (under Ubuntu Linux) using the news.critter.net server then I can see all the correct furry stuff including our beloved Doug Winger. I'll put my glasses on earlier next time and know better what I'm reading. It also means that I can configure my NewsRover bulk downloader to ignore (maybe) the off topic version on my ISP's USENET server and add news,critter.net. Dang, that's going to download a lot of backlogged stuff but I'll be glad to see it.

Thanks for pointing me to it.

Anyone know what Doug means when he says an image is "one of the other"?

I've picked up from content that when he says an image is "one of those" he means it's a herm, but I can't figure out what he means when he says "it's not the other". For a while I thought "other" meant impossibly busty, but I chanced across a huge breasted image (buzzwest.jpg) where he says "It's not even the other."

Any idea?
>> No. 1097 ID: 624a12
Either he means female or non-pornographic? I can't think of any male pictures from him, at least not off the top of my head.
>> No. 1098 ID: c5f39f
If context helps, here are quotes for a couple of Doug's images above.

>>1025
"Not one of Those, but very much of the Other persuasion."

>>1093
"Despite what the file's name might infer, it's +not+ One of Those or even The Other."

For the life of me I can't see that much difference between SezzBom.jpg (>>1025) and MinStretch.jpg (>>1093), but apparently the first is "the other" while the second isn't.

The text Doug posted to accompany >>1100 (from usenet, June 10, 2001)
---

No, it's not one of those. It's not even the other. It's a sort of an art lesson for someone's edification. It's also of someone's character (and quite a lot of it there is, too). The hat was a 'how to fake it' for them. The rest was... Well, it _was!_ What did you expect?

Yes, they gave me permission to post it, so no whining about that. Nor much of anything else. I've been a busy little scribbler this morning and still have a sharp pencil in my hand, so be nice!

Anywho, a buxom bunny belle of the Olde Schoole, modernized with all the
comforts one could ask for.
