This is true, but it certainly has a lot to do with how capable you are linguistically in the first place. Due to the far-reaching nature of the internet, it has made slang and shorthand far more widely understandable, and although I am capable of forming complete sentences, I find the use and interaction of those elements fascinating, and use them often myself. While I shudder to think that some people have grown up with the internet to the point that they prefer truncated words and poor spelling, I believe that most of the time, it is because the post does not require more effort than baseline, rather than a mental lack on the part of the poster.
I mean, for seriously, how important are grammar and spelling on a site for deranged perverts when you're asking for the animated version of a shock-website's .gif?
