Id like to note that there is a diff between copying and tracing, if you have any sort of eyesight you can see vast differences and Vahn's amature skill lvl in his own picture. But ill give him this, he didnt trace it, he mimiced it and noted such in his submission. He's simply using ppls work to try and learn how to draw better. Theres no shame in that. Though, he really shouldnt have posted it on the net, cause then you get the Derp that somehow thinks the orignal is a copy of the copy.. *facepaws*

Agreed, there is a difference between copying and tracing. However, if you're going to bother to copy, copy from real life, otherwise you're attempting to better yourself through one level of distortion applied by the original artist, as opposed to trying to learn how to render real life.
