Adira's tavern is more than a simple place for humans and keidrans to get drunk and pass out after a hard day's work, it is also a place for lost or abandoned keidran younglings to find shelter and a temporary home. Keidrans like Zen, Natani, Raine, Laura, Flora, and Kathrine, have all either been found wandering alone in the alleys or simply left at their doorstep. Seeing the poor souls without family nor friend grieved the old keidran, who offered them a home and a chance to find a new family.
They all were happily welcomed by Maeve and Brutus, who always made the young keidrans feel at home with their warm and uplifting smiles and talks. A year went by, none came to adopt the familyless children. Yet at this point it already felt like they've been adopted. They've all come to love Adira, Maeve, and Brutus and saw them as friends, heck, some even saw Adira and Brutus as their mother and father. And while many thought it, it was, alas, not possible. An old and decrepit law were still enforced by the local governor, making adoption impossible for the owner of the orphanage. Yet there was one little hole the sly old Snow Leopard knew of, and one she was glad to know wasn't known by anyone else in Riftwall or else it could've used by the wrong people.
This simple loophole stated that anybody who is of same blood or has a child of their blood, and has relatives in the area, then adoption is not even an option. And so it was clear to all. Each of the familyless kids were given the choice of to have a child with Brutus and officially become part of the family, or refuse and wait to be adopted. Pretty clear which they picked. Of course they were mostly ignorant as to what they must go through, only understand they had to carry a child for 26, or longer, weeks. What could go wrong, they figured? Well.
They all were quick to learn it wasn't as easy as first thought, having to constantly deal with sore paws and backs, hunger, sleepless nights, mildly painful kicks from their babies, and, most importantly, having to carry a beast of a child in their bellies. At only 4 months, none, except Maeve, could've expected would their bellies to grow so distant and heavy with only a single life within them. Natani and Raine are already exhausted and sore in body from the heavy burden. Flora always trouble standing up. Zen and Laura doesn't mind at all. And Kathrine was extremely happy, for she had wanted her own child since first laying eyes on Maeve's son Niall.
Speaking of which, both Maeve and Adira decided they too wanted another child, and big wolfy Brutus was more than happy to fulfil their wish, and his own wish for an even bigger family.
There you have it. 6 poor souls now part of the big Riftwall family. Everyday is mostly a joy to wake up to, their new family always happy to greet them good morning, and their friends always there to tell jokes and pull pranks.
Of course, Brutus was the true victor here. 'Cause he now has 8 cute and beautiful ladies to have... fun with, if they wish. Not only that, he is now also the father of 9 keidran cubs. For a man like Brutus, this is nothing but paradise, a dream come true. Enjoy it, big boy.
